STS first time!

Did Disc 3 today -- Legs, and wow. It was so much harder for me than the upper body ones. I had to modify a LOT and reduce my weights from my 1RM calculations. I think I might have been resting too much during my 1RM testing because I was doing it with my daughter and we were taking turns. My legs were exhausted from the get-go on this one! I just put the new weights into the Workout Manager and it changed my 1RM for me. I can tell I'm really going to be feeling this workout for the rest of the week!

Becky, which HC dvd's do you have? Do you like them?! Colleen introduced me to them. I love them!!! Nothing gets the core like HC!!!

ttyl
I have Getting Started and the July and August Club DVDs (101's, not hardcore). I LOVE LOVE LOVE them, but they are so hard! I only do one about once a week in full, but I add a 10 minute or so segment on to my regular workout on other days. I'm hoping as my core strength increases to do them 2-3 times per week or even (eek!) try a Volume. I agree -- nothing else I've ever done has hit my core like HC.

Hello ladies! :D

Today was To the Max! OMG, I am so in love with that workout! My endorphins were flying high today! I love the way Cathe says (during the jump rope move in the step tabata) "come on guys, it's party time!" :D The music is so great in this one and I just love the moves! I've mentioned before how strengthening my core with HC has made such a tremendous difference in my ability to do high impact. I can tighten and brace my core so effectively during moves like the shuffle taps, box jumps and power squat turns. Totally takes the strain off my joints! Thank you HC!! Okay...I may just have to proclaim TTM my favorite Cathe cardio!

Oh and guess what I did last night? I was feeling pretty good and thinking to myself..."I wonder how many push ups I can do in a row on my toes after doing all this HC?" I think all this talk of the new girls doing those dreaded STS push ups got me thinking about it. ;) All during STS I could only ever do 10 toe push ups before sinking to my knees. It was like this wall I could just never blast through. Well, everyone else was in bed already and I was sitting on the couch. Suddenly I just got up and tried to crank some out in my living room. I did 20 in a row! On my toes! :D  Yay me!! Yay HC! :p

Speaking of, Carolyn- Volume 3 does not use the stability ball. One reason it's a favorite! I do like Volume 4...I really do, but that stability ball is my nemesis! lol I will keep trying Volume 4 because I do like most of the ball moves in that workout, however December and June Hardcore may sit on the shelf awhile  I only liked about half the exercises in both of those and the other half just pi$$ed me off! I still plan to give August Hardcore a chance, but I'm going to wait awhile...I don't even want to look at my ball right now!

Becky- that's so awesome you're working your core with HC during STS! That was definitely a neglected body part for me when I did STS. That's why I want to make sure and keep at least one day in when I do XTrain. Great job on the leg disc! Cathe really knows how to work the lower body! :D

sunsdaughter- I know when I first did the 1RM I missed a lot of the exercises on there and didn't even realize until I saw NA on the printout! You'll probably have to go back and do those ones. The first time through there are so many tweaks you have to do! Luckily the workout manager is such a great tool and so easy to use. I just loved going in there and updating my numbers. I'm kind of a geek that way . I do recommend you do those rather than trying to guess the weights. When I did disc 1 I tried guessing on a lot of them and it was so frustrating! It's nice having that target weight right on the page as you go along. To answer that question about future weights, yes it does update for you as the weights go up through Meso 2 and 3. You may find an exercise or two that missed when you get to Meso 2 and 3 even (there were a few I missed that was not done in Meso 1).
I agree about the Hiit dvd. I think Cathe needs to do a whole series of just sequels to some of her most popular dvds!

ColleenD- it's so hard to get yoga and stretching in, isn't it? I feel so good when I do it, but then like you said you don't want to miss that time spent on other stuff. I wish I could get in the habit of just doing 20 minutes before bedtime but that never seems to happen...

Marie- that is such a bummer about the doctor not giving you a note for work. Phooey. :( Stay safe! If any more patients get combative with you I may just have to drive up to the cities and kick some booty!

Have a great Wednesday everybody!

Hi Ladies. I have been busy with cats today. I was feeding a feral cat in my yard for about a year now. I got him neutered and one of his eyes removed last year. My friend does TNR and has feral cats living in her house . I asked her if she would trade me my feral for one of her tame girls. So she said o.k.. So I trapped my feral yesterday and put him in my exercise room . He made the biggest mess in that trap with a huge bowel movement. My friend brought over another trap this morning and we transferred him to the new trap. Then i took both cats to the vet for testing and shots. So now I have a tortie female and she has an orange boy. I just couldn't stand the thought of him sleeping outside all winter again. Then after I got her set up in a crate in my living room , I went to the grocery store. Now I am ready for a nap.

Carolyn I never got a cold . I think it was just the shot. I feel fine. That is an expensive deductible you have. I sure hope they find what is wrong. When I have gotten MRI's , my Dr. just calls me and if I don't answer he leaves me a message. If I need a referral , I just go pick one up. That is funny how you almost fell asleep in the machine. I am never that relaxed but they never offered me music either. I am sorry to hear that your son no longer believes in Santa. I know we all hate for that day to come. Hopefully your daughter will still believe for a few more years. Is Cuda all house trained?

ColleenD The pushups will get easier. One day you will surprise yourself with how many you can do. When I was reading Fifty Shades , I also thought about skipping over the trashy parts but I didn't. I am glad I read all 3 books. Do you ever do Cathe's Extended stretch after your w/o? That is about a 20 minute stretch and I loved it. I used to do it after every STS w/o.

ColleenK I know how you feel after an unsatifing w/o. You just feel like you really didn't do much. That is one reason why I stick with STS. I know I will always be satisfied.

Missy I LOVE the music on the stretch portion of B&G. I even asked on OD if anyone knew what that music was. Ofcourse no one did. If you ever find out , let me know. I would love to buy it.

Marie I am sorry to hear you can't get extra time off. I do understand about going over your due date and then having less time at home with Breckin. Just relax on your 6 days off. Is your next Dr. appt. on Tuesday?

Shannelle I would just update the w/o manager with the weights you used. It should update your 1rm's for the next w/o.

Becky Those leg w/o's are killer. They don't get any easier. :p I hate doing legs. I am glad the w/o manager is updating your numbers. How do you like the HC w/o "Getting Started"? I am thinking of buying that. It does not look as hard as some of the other stuff.

Jean

ColleenK That is fantastic that you can do 20 pushups on your toes. I wonder if HC has helped you in that respect also. You should try to do 20 every night before bed.;)

Jean

Hey everyone!
It's a bit cloudy and humid today, so that's dictated my mood--kind of bleghh. I shouldn't complain since we got to sleep late (another religious school holiday).

I did CF today (only for the 2nd time!). I was glad it didn't use a step--sometimes I get so tired of dragging it over (all of 3 feet). The 180-degree turns are crazy! I modify by keeping my body not too tight. It's less impact and I sort of do a fast shuffle or something.

I think the intensity gave me a tense head and neck. Is this workout equivalent to AB, for you gals who do these a lot?

Carolyn, that's a real stinker about Luke's Santa bubble being burst. I think my kids got to a point when they were skeptical, so they starting not quite believing any more. They never came home from school having had some dumb kid blabbing it.

You gals with the expensive deductibles--holy cow! That is jaw-dropping.

Missy, you do get to see more than the average person does of the nasty insurance business in this country! Infuriating that they drive the treatment of patients!

Becky, another HC user! It'll enable more of us!:D

Jean, I don't remember the music in B&G. I'll try to remember next time I do it. Also, I looked at a clip of HC GS. It doesn't look too bad. You going for it?

I'll probably read the other Grey books when they come in. I'm reading my very last Sophie Kinsella right now. (Was her first book.) Still chuckling aloud--a lot!

ColleenK, nice job with all the improvements you're seeing from HC! High 5 for all the pushups on your toes! You are making so many strides!

Marie, your upcoming set of days off is a very good alternative to not getting an earlier leave. Enjoy these last few weeks of pregnancy!:)

Must. Get. Off.

Good Morning Ladies!!

Checking in with AfterBun this morning. That was a hard one first thing in the AM. I find that I do better with these types of workout on the weekend after I'd fuelled up and have some coffee. I hope I don't have DOMS tomorrow for Legs tomorrow. :D

So I have an interview candidate coming in this morning for a position I am trying to fill at work. So far he's 15 minutes late and no call, nothing. This really makes me mad. I have a killer day with back to back meetings and no common courtesy to call to either cancel or to let me know he's going to be late. Sorry for the rant….

Oh, I ended up doing TurboBarre Abs last night. I also mentioned the HC workout to hubby last night. :) I'll probably order them tomorrow.

Off to work. Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon Everyone. Today I did back and Biceps. It feels good to do a workout. I am seriously thinking of getting HC GS. That would be a nice add on to my BB w/o's .

ColleenD Did your interview ever arrive? I don't think I would be hiring him. If you are 5 minutes early , you are late. Let us know when you order HC.

Well I hope everyone is o.k. today. it sure is quiet.

I hope we didn't lose Si and Meredith.

Jean

Wow it is quiet today!

Today I did January Hardcore of HC. OMG, I thought Sandra was trying to kill me! LOL That was a toughie but a goodie! Loved it! I must say, I definitely had to go my Happy Place during some of the workout, though . I was trying really hard not to modify the moves and do it the harder way. Talk about overloading the muscles and going to complete failure! Wow!

BTW- Carolyn, I haven't done all the Hardcores or 101's yet but if you are ever thinking of expanding your HC library I definitely recommend this one! My favorites so far have been the Jan, Feb and Oct Hardcores. They are so awesome! It's so funny with these club dvds though...because Sandra's basically taping the class she is teaching, you have all these people coming and going. Some of them actually bail on her half way through the workout! Sometimes you'll see ladies just stop and adjust their ponytails or what not. I'm like, "quit buying time! Get back to it! Don't you know your being filmed??" LOL I'll let you know some of my favorite 101's once I get through them. Those are great for add on's to other workouts since they are only 30 minutes or so.

Jean- I just remembered you asked me about how I find that Happy Place when I workout :D. For me, I have to play mind tricks with myself. I tell myself that I LOVE doing this or that before I even start...I absolutely allow NO negative thoughts in my head before I workout. None. As soon as I think about how hard it's going to be or that I might not be able to do it, my endurance goes right out the window! I also keep all other thoughts out of my mind when I'm doing something really hard...like when I'm doing lunges or squats I literally only have my hamstring or glute muscle in my head. lol It really is a mind/body connection. I think about the muscle I'm using, I mean really focus on it and isolate it, and I can literally feel it contract harder. Does any of that make sense or help?

ColleenD- OMG, I can't believe that job applicant. What a loozah! I hope he doesn't honestly believe he has a chance at the job now! It just baffles me how irresponsible and flaky people can be nowadays. I know what you mean about being fueled up with coffee before working out. I need my caffeine before I can even think of starting!

Betty- Great job on CF! Yay! It is nice not to have to drag out equipment once in awhile, isn't it? I love love love my toys... but there are days when I just don't want to be bothered!

Hope everyone else is having a great day and a great workout! Hopefully we'll hear from Si and Meredith soon...and hopefully they are sticking with STS! :D

Hey everyone,

It IS slow here, beginning 24 hours ago. I keep checking, but not many posts. What, are you all out there living your lives or something!???

Carolyn, what a refreshing day again! Love it. I'm leaving shortly for my little guy's cross country meet.

Btw, I loved how the Athleta outfit looked on you. So cute! I just adore that orchard pic of you and your family!

ColleenK, I don't know how you do all those tough workouts almost daily, but it's getting you stronger! The happy place is working too. Great idea--I should try focusing on the muscles I'm working on!

How do Sandra's club dvds work?

ColleenD, that candidate must be of the younger generation. He should be scratched from the list forthwith. Unless of course he was in an accident or passed away. ColleenK told us that happened to a patient of hers who didn't show up for an appointment.:(

I didn't even know TB has abs! Or do I?? Hmm...

Haven't done AB in a bit, but probably not a good idea after CF yesterday.

Jean, great job sticking with BB. You are one strong lady.

I finished my book and am bummed I have no more of SK's to read! I guess it's time to catch up on all my mags.

Later!

Quick update...He never showed up and it goes without saying that he is out of the question. I had two interviews scheduled for today and the 2nd one showed, but wasn't the right fit. On to more resume to screen... uggh...

My house is loaded with Stink bugs. I have all the windows open and they are all over the screens. I keep spraying them. I bet I have had 5 in the house this afternoon. Do you guys have a problem with them? I just keep going from room to room with my gallon of bug spray and spraying them. YUCK

Jean

Jean, I'm not sure I know what stink bugs are, so I don't believe we have them here. Sounds gross though. I feel for you!

I will definitely be reading The Casual Vacancy. You have it already?

Jean, we have stink bugs too. They are such strange bugs yuck!

I have not heard of the casual vacancy. I'll have to check it out. I need a new book to read.

I think I'll be in trouble for STS legs tomorrow. I can already feel my glutes from afterburn this morning...

Betty I don't have it yet. I am waiting to hear what it is about and if people like it. I will probably buy it because it will probably take forever to get from the library.

Jean

45 minutes and counting. Work is almost done and then 6 days off :) Goal- clean the house, get a massage and relax! Super excited! I ordered a bunch more stuff for Brecking online at Target so hoping that comes sometimes during my days off so I can get it all set up. So ready for my little man!

We had a garage sale today with a friend. It was quite fun and we made some money too :) My friend was selling Cathe's Basic Step DVD- my mom is going to start doing Cathe soon and hasn't done step forever so I got it for her. Maybe I'll try it- sounds like a good preg workout! It's only 30 minutes.

I signed up for a diaper study. It's a discussion with about 15 prego women. A moderator leads it. It's 2 hours and we get $150 cash at the end- super excited! The only thing is it is on Oct 11th- the day after my due date! Will I make it?!

Workout today- 25 minute walk on my break :)

All this HC talk has me so tempted! Seems perfect for after baby to get my core strength back.

Becky- I think that's great that you homeschool. I used to do nursing homecare for a pt that was homeschooled and I always found it fun to help her with her homework. I especially loved teaching Algebra.

Carolyn- Hope you have fun at Kohl's. Gotta love their coupons. Sorry to hear about your son finding out about Santa. That is always hard for kids. I remember so clearly when I found out. My BF at the time told me. We were sitting on the stairs at my house. I was in 6th grade and totally devastated.

ColleenD- I can't believe that applicant didn't show up.....better now than on-the-job though. That must be so hard interviewing people. I feel ya about yoga. I used to go once a week to a class at the gym. I do miss it and would love to get back into it one day.

Shannelle- Yay for another HIIT! you should post that in the Suggestions for New Workouts forums.

ColleenK- Nice job on the 20 pushups rockstar!!! I had to laugh at your comment about driving to the cities- you could definitely take them on with your Cathe and HC muscles ;)

Jean- That is so great that you are taking that cat in. It takes a special person to do that. You are good- my next appt is on Tue! Can't wait!

Betty- Way to go on CF. I'm with ya on the humid weather....ugh! Where's fall?!

Missy- Hi :) Busy as always I'm sure...love it!

Buon giorno! It's going to be a showery few days. Bummer, but we need the rain.

Thinking it's time for some UB work, after so much LB or circuits recently.

Better get started... Later!

Good Morning!

Checking in with disk 6 completed this morning. My glues were a little sore from Afterburn yesterday and I’m really feeling them now! I was comparing in the workout manger what my 1 rep max was last time and updating the number this morning. I have really gained strength in my legs from last time. I did the lower body focus rotation from February (I think that was the month) in August and I really think that has helped the strength and definition in my lower body. Last night I did the premix of complete core from CoreMax. I did core workouts 3 times this week and I still don’t have any DOMs in my abs. I’m bummed out about at.

Carolyn, I was originally doing to only get 1 or 2 HC workouts, but my hubby told me this AM to go ahead and get what I want, so I think I’m going to get the 5 pack that included volumes 1-4 and boot camp. I’m scared and excited all at the same time. Our anniversary is tomorrow and we agreed on no gifts because we are going out tomorrow night (Carl’s parents are going to watch the kids for the night). So he said these can be my anniversary present!! He also told me that I can go out and get a new dress for tomorrow night!! So that is one more thing to add to my to-do list, but a girl can’t pass up an opportunity for a new dress.

I’ve only done TB twice. I’m not a big fan either. I tend to want to do it when I’m really low on energy but want to do a workout.

Marie, enjoy your time off!! Relax, relax, relax.

Happy Friday!!!

I ended up pulling out 4DS LIS with Shoulder, Core, Calves. The strengthening part was sorely needed, to be sure. Especially my underworked honking calves. But anything with 6-count mambos and I'm lost. I just always seem to end up on the wrong foot. I don't think I'll ever GET dancy step!

Carolyn, the buzz on The Casual Vacancy is from this being JK Rowling's first foray into adult fiction, after finishing Harry Potter so many years ago. I think people are very curious. I know I am.
Give the author Lee Child a try. Awesome writing.
I was almost going to say give into your cramps but you'll feel better working them out.
Wow, you have a big anniversary coming up. Time for a big piece of shiny bling!:p Doing anything special?

ColleenD, good for you for getting to look forward to all those volumes of HC!!! I bet they'll be great. I know my arms were jelly-like in the brief planks I just did on 4DS, so I can't imagine. I even subbed some Sandra plank moves while Cathe was doing the droning crunches. Needless to say, my arms and core are so weak for this!
Every time one of you mention HC, I go off and look at the clips!
I've never done CoreMax. I'll have to try the 'complete core' premix! You are doing so well keeping up with core workouts! You're inspiring the rest of us slackers. Hear that, girls??
Have fun dress shopping! Hope you can find one in short notice. I had the most ridiculous time finding the perfect dress for a wedding last month, and I looked all year. And I settled for this dress.
Happy anniversary to you and Carl!

I agree with you gals about TB. To me, not enough of a cardio factor, and barely break a sweat. Similar to KM.

Marie, the garage sale sounded fun. I do agree other people's trash is someone else's treasure.:D Good for your mom for starting with Cathe soon. Take it easy on your days off. This is nesting time, baby! And nap, nap, nap.
