STS first time!

Hello ladies!

Oh man, I am so sore today! :D That workout yesterday really got me! Just about every body part is sore...even my calves! I think the calves got it when she had me jumping on and off the step with one foot while holding the end of the step (the step has 2 risers and you have it turned vertically). Then she has you, one legged, jump back into plank, jump to the step, jump on to the step, back down again and again...then after you feel like your leg is on fire she has you do it double time for several reps! Definitely total body work in January Hardcore!

Today I wanted to get something in. I managed to squeeze 25 minutes of Ellen's Grace and Gusto. Such a nice dvd for a good side body stretch...which I needed! :p I had to stop early though 'cause I ran out of time.

I wanted to ask about the stink bugs...are they also called Asian beetles? The orange beetles that sort of look like lady bugs but they're not? They smell pretty nasty when you disturb them! We get those a lot in the spring. Yuck!

ColleenD- I love Afterburn! I did that one a ton when I first got LIS! I would get crazy butt DOMS from that one, too! Same with Trisets lower body. Those dixie cups are ingenious! Great job on Disc 6 today! Your lower body will be on fiyah!
ETA: I can't wait to hear what you think of the HC's when you get them! :D

Carolyn- I'm so excited your getting volume 3! :D Thanks for the tips on HC! Cathe's mini step mat sounds interesting! I use a yoga mat and it works pretty well, it is a pain sometimes but it works. I just recently got these WAGS gloves that I've been using for HC. There is a foam wedge in there to keep your wrists from being in such a severe flexion angle. The girls on my HC check in at VF turned me on to them. Here's the link if your interested: Purchase Your Pair of WAGs | Get Wags Gloves I got the WAGS flex (the cheapest ones) and they work great. I swear I'll never be done spending money on fitness gadgets! It's almost an addiction..okay it totally is an addiction! LOL At least it's a healthy one right???

Actually- Missy, I bet those would really help you! IIRC, you had a tough time with the HC's because of your wrists? You should check them out if you still want to try the workouts. :)

Marie- I'm crossing my fingers for you that you don't go over your due date! I went one day over with Dylan and I thought that was torture! Seriously, by the end I was like "come on, you guys can get out of me any time now! Maybe a few days early even??" ;) That first baby likes to take their own sweet time, that's for sure!

Betty- I can't do dancy step at all! Even dancy moves on the floor...forget it! I have two left feet when it comes to that stuff! I love that you replaced the crunches with plank work! ;) I was just thinking about that today...all the years I did crunches never did anything! I love Cathe, but her older ab work didn't really do it for me. So many crunches! Now she really mixes it up nicely. I loved the variety in ab circuits and the stuff at the end of TTM rocks. :) The ab section in TB is nice, too. I agree with you guys about TB not being one I grab often. It really is the ONLY Barre type workout I'll ever pull out though. I hate any other Barre type workout...and I've tried a few. At least with TB, I don't hate it...I just don't love it like my other ones. If I feel like doing some leg lifts, though..that's the one to do!

Oh lordy, this post got long. Better run before you guys fall asleep reading it!!

Stinkbugs - Facts About Stinkbugs - Types of Stinkbugs - PestWorldforKids.org

Here is a picture of a stinkbug for those of you who are lucky enough not to have them. I do not pick up bugs. They either get drowned in bug spray or vacuumed up.

Today I had to bake an "Upside Down Pumpkin Cake" for my Brother in Laws Memorial tomorrow. Then I had to iron our clothes to wear to that. I was supposed to do cardio and abs but wasn't feeling it. So I just got those things out of the way and here I am. Maybe Sunday I can start fresh with cardio. Maybe I will do Drill Max .

ColleenK Thanks for explaining how you get to your happy place. I really have to try those suggestions. I know when I am w/o with Cathe and she has finished an exercise and I haven't , I so want to just stop with her. But I have to talk myself into finishing.

Marie Enjoy your 6 days off . Take alot of naps. I hope your Target purchases come while you are off so you can get them set up. That is interesting about the diaper study. Personally I hope you deliver Breckin before that.

ColleenD I am excited about you getting HC even though I don't have it. That was nice of hubby to say get whatever you want plus get a new dress. Happy Anniversary.

Jean

No post is a boring post Carolyn! :p I need something to read when it's slow at work...which it has been really slow the past month! It's a little better today, but I still wind up sitting on my butt at my desk for way too long! I've been thinking about that alot lately...I workout so well but I have to sit at my desk way too much! I need to get some more movement, more steps in my day! When I'm at home on a day off I rarely sit! I'm moving and cleaning and doing stuff nonstop!

Jean- those aren't the bugs we get. I sure hope we don't get 'em! They sound awful!

ColleenD- I forgot to say Happy Anniversary before! Have fun dress shopping and going out with hubby!!

Carolyn My sister is doing very good. I think tomorrow will be hard on her. Then Sunday all of the out of town guests will be leaving. So Monday will be her 1st real day of recovery. I think she will start walking again (which is her big love) and going to exercise class a few days a week. I believe I am going back on Oct. 10 for 4 days. I too put on my exercise clothes and shoes and put my water in my exercise room. I still have the clothes and shoes on but still haven't worked out. Like Colleen said , no post is a boring post.
I wonder where Missy is. I hope she is alright. Also Becky and Shanelle .

Hi Ladies!

I ordered the HC five pack today! I did a search on Google and found a VFROCKS discount code for 10% off and shipping was only $6!:rolleyes:

I too am not a big step person and don't like dancey moves. I really struggle with step. I feel like I have two left feet. I was on a kick not too long ago that I thought I needed better shoes for the lateral support for step. Thinking it would help me, but of course it didn't. I latterly ordered probably 10 different cross trainers (not all at one time) from Zappos. I really struggle with sneakers because my feet are so messed up that I really need good supportive shoes. Long story short, I ended up trying a pair of Ryka synergy for a few weeks and I think that's what messed up my knee. I went back to my trusty Asics running shoes (Asics gel kayano 18) and they are starting to feel better. So much for the lateral support...

Thanks for the anniversary wishes. It's our 11 year anniversary. I will probably run up to King of Prussia Mall, our local mall does not have a lot of options and I need to get a petite size so I don't have it get it hemmed (I'm only 5'1).

Jean, I'm sorry to hear about your BIL. Many prayers for the Memorial tomorrow.

Hi Cathletes-

The garage sale was a success. What a good day! I am so tired now though. Relaxing on the couch is the plan for tonight. Can't wait to sleep in tomorrow :)

ColleenD- Happy anniversary!! What a perfect present......nothing better than fitness stuff!

ColleenK- Thanks for posting those foam wedges. I just may need some. My right wrist is in pain whenever I do planks due to a snowboarding accident years ago. I bet these would help.

Carolyn- Target oh yes I always spend way too much at that place.....even online! I bought a stroller, Ergobaby carrier with an infant insert, mobile, changing table pad, changing table sheet, sheet savers, pack-n-play sheets, bumbo with a tray, car seat base for Tony's car, head support pillow for the swing, and a sound machine. Yup mama Marie went a little crazy! Can't wait to get it :)

Hi to everyone else!

Good Morning ladies.....I have been MIA the past few days. I got so busy ith work and barn chores. But it is finally Saturday. Thought I would post a quick message before my workout. I then have to go to the bank, grocery store, and pet store. All before noon. Then my husband will be home from work and we are going into the big city to Academy Sports. They opened yesterday! Can't wait! Just love looking and shopping for exercise clothes and acces. Yeah!!!! Will let you know how that goes!!!

Off to workout! Be back later to read up on all the posts!

Have a nice saturday!:p

Hello ladies!

Let's just say my re-start of STS is not going well. I'm going to need to re-start my re-start :) I did manage to sneak in CrossFire the other day - my first time with that one and my legs are so sore today. Lots of jumping around in that one!

I hope everyone is doing well!

Checking in with disc 4 and extended stretch. The push-ups are getting a little easier but I still can't do them all. I made it through the drop sets on my toes though! Afterwards my daughter and I took the puppies for a 2.5 mike walk. Slow and relaxing.

Jean, we're thinking of you this weekend. Your cake sounds yummy.

ColleenK, loved reading your description of January Hardcore. Sounds so very challenging! You gals who have HC are going to have amazing arms & cores:cool:! The Wags look nifty. It's a great invention!

I totally agree about ab crunches doing nothing, certainly not for me!

Neither your post nor Carolyn's was boring--love reading every word. And you guys crack me up!:D

Meredith, glad to see you check in. Life gets in the way, doesn't it? Just do it when you're able. No judgments from us.

Missy, want to hear of your shopping, and Becky, of your puppies!

Marie, enjoy your massage. Due date will be here before you know it!

What a dreary day--cool and damp but no rain.

Well it is super late...10:30pm that is.....

I went to so many stores....yet I did not buy too much. I was on a hunt for khaki pants for work. But could not find any that I liked.

I did go to the grand opening of Academy Sports....and OMG!!!! fitness equipment nd gadgets, fitness clothes, I was in heaven. I bought a new racer tank and a pair of capri's to wear in the 5K I am doing in 2 weeks.

We did go to this kitchen/cookware store at the mall. Bought some wooden spoons!

Also went to Sams...got alot of Food! Oh, and I just love going there around holidays...they had pumpkins, fall stuff, christmas stuff...got a big tub of Utz pretzells (christmas shaped) Yum Yum!! They are the best pretzells ever!!!!

Came home, and cooked dinner, worked Out, cleaned up the kitchen, etc.

Tomorrow, I am doing laundry!!!

Also Sylvetis (outside cat) brought her kittens back home yesterday. They are exactly 6 weeks old today. Too cute! I am making her an appointment to get fixed this week, now that I know they can eat kitten food. Then, I am going to try to find good homes for the kittens, if not I will get them fixed at 5-6 months of age. I am not going through this kitten stuff again. We have a no kill cat shelter in town, but they are slap full. They said they turn down at least 200 cats a week. That is so crazy. I just can not take them to a kill shelter. Tim and I just can not do that! So, either we find them a home, or they stay here (outside)! Either way they are getting fixed!

Okay...so we had a good time shopping, except it was in the 90's today!!! HOT!!!!!

Off to bed! Good night!

Hello ladies!

I was MIA yesterday. We've got company staying with us for a week so it's going to be hard to get on the computer when I'm at home. I'm sneaking a quick check in post now though!

Yesterday I did the standing portion of Butts and Guts and then finished up with 20 min disc 12 STS legs (skipped the warm up and stopped after the sliding disc lunges where you set down and pick up the dumbells..LOVE that move!) That brought me to about an hour. Notice how I managed to avoid all floor and stability ball work doing it that way? lol Although I do love the way she uses the stability ball in the warm up of B&G.
Today will be CrossFire and hopefully one of the HC 101's.

Meredith- just do the best you can! It is so hard when life gets crazy and STS really is a commitment. Maybe you can just do the workouts you feel like doing for now, and throw in some total body weight days to keep the muscle coming. STS will always be there for you when you are ready and have the time! You can certainly still check in with us regardless of what you're doing. As you know, many of us aren't even doing STS these days! lol

Jean- I hope the memorial went well. Hopefully your sister can begin to heal a little. That is so great she wants to get back to walking and get some exercise in. That will be very therapeutic for her.

Missy- Aww, I wish we lived closer. I would probably end up taking one of your kittens. Hopefully you can find them good homes! I love Sam's club, too! I wish you didn't have to pay a yearly fee for the "privelege" to shop there, though. Many times, the savings isn't that much but I do love the stuff I can get there that isn't available at other stores.

Becky- great job on disc 4! One more disc with the dreaded push ups and then you will be done for a long time. Meso 2 only has one part with push ups I believe. Something to look forward to !

Carolyn- I was eating non stop yesterday, too! It is so hard when we have company. I eat like crap!

Have a great Sunday gals!

Good Morning Ladies. Today I did Drill Max. Then I did the core portion of butts and guts then I did the stretch from B&G. That music is so beautiful. I thought Drill Max would never end but I do feel so good after I finish my w/o. I am so amazed that more people don't w/o. Today's movie is going to be "Girl In Progress" .
The Memorial was very nice yesterday. She had a large turnout. My Mother is Chickahominy Indian from around Providence Forge , Va and alot of the cousins from there came. My relatives from there always want to hug and I am not like that. But you hug when you see them , then you hug when they leave. My cousin sang 2 songs. My BIL's sister read the eulogy. My Mother, sister,me, my husband and BIL all worked for the phone company so there were people from there that we haven't seen in years. It was really nice. My sister held up good for the most part. My daughter and grandchildren were there. I haven't seen them since May 2007. Thank Goodness her a$$hole husband didn't come. My grandsons are 15 and 17 yrs and are 6 feet tall. My granddaughter is 10 and she looks exactly like her Mother. We were cordial to each other. I said a few things to the children. I have no clue what kind of BS their a$$hole father has said about me. So I was friendly and nice and then went about my business. All in all it was a very nice day. There was alot of food and I brought home way too many desserts.

Meredith It is good to see you are still with us. Even if you can only stop in and say hi.

Missy When i went to Costco last week , they had the Christmas stuff out also. :D I love when that is out. Even though I don't decorate now , I love looking at the stuff. I told my husband that we are decorating in and out after we move. If I have enough money , I may even pay someone to decorate for me and then I can copy what they do. I love Christmas.

Colleen Who is visiting you, family or friends? You are lucky you can still w/o when they are there.

Hi to Everyone.

Jean

Good Afternoon! Been busy doing laundry all day!

I did a hour on the elliptical this morning! Felt good.

Jean---Thats an amzing workout you did! You should feel amazing! Christmas is my favorite holiday too! I just decorating and the feeling of the magic!!! Just love it!

Off to do soe more chores....be back soon! :D

Just been lazin' around on the couch so far today. Rereading some on my Babywise book.

Yoga relax is up next. My lower back is so sore lately and I always carry tension in my neck. I need a good stretch. I called to schedule my massage but I had to leave a message. I think the place where I have the gift card may be a little place and not open on Sundays or something. If I don't hear back by tomorrow I'm calling somewhere else. I need my massage :)

Later I'm heading to Target. I have to grab a few things and also want to edit and order my pregnancy pictures.

Jean- Your BIL was obviously well loved :) Sounds like everything went smoothly. Sending positive thoughts to your sister to continue healing. It is never easy!

Great job on the workouts everyone! Enjoy your Sunday!

What kind of puppies?!

We've got two rescue doggies -- a black lab and a chihuahua baby that was seized from a pit bull "breeder". I shudder to think what they were going o use the Chihuahuas for. Both pups are pure love!

Yay! Even though I'm sure they are what I need, I surely won't miss them! Maybe after mesos 2 and 3, I'll be better at them.

Jean- Mark's best friend and wife are staying with us this week. They are from Indiana and we don't get to see them too often. Mark's pretty happy to have his buddy here. :)

Carolyn- don't be too bummed about BC being harder the second time...I did the same thing! I also remember a few girls on my HC check in saying the same thing, too...for some reason it was harder the second time for them too! Also, do you know where you are in your cycle? I read that many women will lose some strength and endurance during ovulation. I found that when I was reading up on my knees and the laxity of my joints the week before my period. Our hormones really mess with us!

CrossFire kicked my booty! I did August 101 and lord that was hard after CF. It is just a mat only workout and I swear she makes them harder the less equipment there is!
