STS first time!

Colleen---Thanks for complimenting my muscles!!! Lots of sweat to get there. But now, I am not stopping! I think our men are jelous of our muscles that is why they are now starting to hit our gyms!!!! :p

Carolyn---I am lost too! I keep looking back and the newbies....like OMG, what was her name??? hahaha :)

So the fall shows start tonight!!!! Looking forward to the new season! :) Tomorrow, NCIS, Wednesday, CSI----thy both left really huge cliff hangers last season! I am just so excited!!!

Colleen--Love you new photo!!!

Be back---Missy!!!!! :p

Work is almost done...YAY! Then home to get pretty for the rest of my pregnancy pictures. I think I mentioned the other day it was raining so today we are doing the ones by the lake. I'll post some of course :)

Workout was a walk on my break. It's so nice out- I love fall weather.

So bad news on the leave. I called HR today and they said that the only way I can get paid is if have a medical reason to be off work, as in bedrest. Ugh! I doubt my dr will write a note for that unless it is truly needed. I can however take a total of 13 weeks off for maternity leave. After that I have to pay more for my benefits. I was planning on 12 weeks with Breckin and am possibly thinking of taking that extra week beforehand. I'm just nervous that if I go late that will be less time with baby or what if I decide I'm not ready to go back after 12 weeks and want just one more week at the end. Ugh! I hate making decisions! I guess I'll just wait and see what my dr says at my appt tomorrow. Cross your fingers!

Missy- Congrats on being in the newletter...LOVED seeing it! Congrats to Tim for working out with you. Tony was so mad when he found out about that pt...he really wants me to be off this unit. As far as the T-shirts go I have 2 and I think they run true to size.

Jean- Thanks for agreeing...really hope I get some time off.

Betty- Breakfast sounded so good! Ya gotta enjoy those things every once in awhile and how better to do it than with your girlfriends.

Carolyn- Yay for DOMS lol! I say mix it up...Cathe and Sandra....sounds like a good plan.

ColleenK- Love your new avatar. Glad you are feeling a little better anyways. I had to laugh at your sleep hangover. I have one today. Went to bed at 0800 and woke up at 0545 for work...of course there were numerous pee breaks in there too.

ColleenD- Sounds like you have a productive day :) Feels good to get the fall shopping done.

Shannelle- Nice job on Disc 4. Thanks for posting where we can find some vegan recipes...I'm always down for trying new things.

Becky- Stick with those push-ups! They will get easier :)

Marie

Good evening ladies. No w/o for me today. I had to take a cat to the vet. Then I went to Rite Aide and the Phamacist talked me into getting a flu shot. Now I feel like I am getting a cold. Then I went to Kohls and got some new PJ's, I am kind of busy all week so we will see if I get much w/o in.

Missy That is nice that Tim is on the treadmill while you w/o. It is nice to have company. Congrats on making the success story in the newsletter. You deserve it. I have used the Cathe weight vest doing Squat rack legs and BB. I really like it. Squat rack only has 4 exercises. You could look at it on the w/o manager and do it without the dvd. Just rest 3 minutes between sets. I think you should read the reviews on the T-shirts. I believe I read people say they run small.

Shannelle Thanks for the cookbook ideas. I will definitely check them out. I love to cook.

Carolyn I can imagine that you are getting a great shoulder w/o with HC. That was a good suggestion that ColleenK gave . I don't really understand what type of w/o HC is considered.

Becky The pushups do get easier. When I started doing STS for the 4th time I was able to do 46 toe pushups in one w/o. That was good for me. I live in Silver Spring. I am around 45 minutes for Gremantown.

Colleen Could you go a little deeper into "Happy Place"? I know you have to get to a place in your mind to get thru w/o's but I don't seem to know how to get there. My only real problem is with lunges.

Jean

Omg, Jean, 46 toe pushups?! You are strong, woman!

Finished the book. I can just see the sequels now--they get back together, they have a wedding or accidental pregnancy! Oh my!:roll eyes:

Carolyn, all those veggies sound yummy, esp butternut squash (which I'm always afraid to peel!). I'm bummed I can't watch Ina (& Giada) with no cable, but the rest of the network's shows I can't stand.

Here's sending you some confetti! Whee! Congrats!

Rise and Shine! It's morning time! Got up and did my morning cardio! Feel great today! The monster is gone!!!

At work.....busy bee!

Have a nice Tuesday! It is 58 degrees out this morning! Feels lovely! :)

Good Morning Everyone. My husband and I are going to Costco today.

Betty The pushups were not all at once. they were throughout the dvd. But that is good for me. I am glad you finished the book. Sorry you didn't like it. You did get thru it quick though.

Carolyn Good Luck at your MRI today. i hope that find out what the problem is.

BBL

Jean

Jean---Buy lots @ Costco! My husband and I go to Sams all the time. I just love it!

Carolyn---Good luck with the MRI---that is crazy it takes a week. Done here in the south---(hahaha) We get the results in a day! They probabl;y get the results, it just takes them that long to call you back! :( Insurance sucks these days, we can thank our lovely president for that!

Carolyn- Good luck today! Can't believe it's that much! WTH?! Stupid insurance! And stupid HR......I really hope I get some kind of approval to not work. I agree that pts hitting pregnant women should be a real good reason not to work...ugh!

Missy- Nice job on the morning workout as always...love it!

Hi to everyone else :)

Off to the basement to do my preggie workout one last time before I return it to the library.

I'll keep ya all posted on the dr!

Marie

Hi Ladies,

Checking in with a spinning DVD workout completed today. It’s called “Turn and Burn” from Spinning. I’m not sure why it’s called Turn and Burn because it’s really a hill workout. It’s a 50 minute workout you do 5 standing hills each go for about 3-4 minutes then you decrease the tension to go down the hill for about 1 minute. It’s not my favorite, but it does its job to get the heart rate up. I’ve been super tired the last few days and I didn’t feel like a high impact cardio today.

Carolyn, good luck on your MRI today. Your dinner last night sounded so good. I actually have butternut squash in the fridge, I might make that tonight.

Jean, 46 pushups in one workout. That’s fantastic! I can only do about 10-15, but I am finding that this round of STS that I don’t have to go to tabletop and I can do more on my knees. So I’ll take that as improvement!

Betty/Jean, I read the trilogy as well. I agree that the writing was terrible, but I did get hooked and wanted to find out how it ended. By the second book, I would skip the trashy parts. I also couldn’t take the repetition of using the same adjectives over and over again.

Shannelle, I will have to check out the cookbook as well. I recently went gluten and dairy free due to some intolerance. Other than the past few days (I think that’s due to my monthly friend), my energy level has been great and my digestive issues have disappeared.

I had to take my son in this morning for his 4 year old checkup. Went well, expect the 3 shots he had to get, but he was a trooper.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

-Colleen

Hello.....well, I have to vent!

I just received a massive package in the mail (office) It was from UHC (United Health Care) When I say massive, I mean it came on the UPS truck, it was so heavy they rolled it in on wheels. I am like What is This? So, I opened it.....basically they just killed an entire tree to send out this info on all these patients of ours. Wanting us to schedule a visit and fill out all this info on when patients get eye exams/colonoscopy/ basically screening procedures. Wanting us to call each patient, schedule an appt, just for this info. That is crazy. If the patient has already had the 1 wellness exam they get a year, the patient will have a copay for us to do this. So this is hurting the patients too. It is not fair! I know people need to have these screening's done. But, why the insurance companies are taking it into there hands to put more work on the dr office's. If they want these patients to do this they should just call them. It probably would be more cost effective to do this instead of the cost of paper and shipping. This is why every year premiums are increasing, copay are going up, deductibles are going up!!! This is why insurance's are crap!!!! It is not even manditory, so they are killing massive trees for no reason! A total waist of insurance payors money!!!

Okay.....

Colleen---Sounds like a killer workout on the spin bike!

Marie---Enjoy your preg workout! Tonight I think I am doing Afterburn! :D

Just had a salad for lunch with grilled chicken on it! Yum Yum!!!!

Now, I am back at work!!! 3 hrs to go! :)

Afternoon ladies!

So today I did one of the Horizontal Conditioning club dvds. This one used the stability ball. Let's just say I get a wee bit frustrated with some of the ones that use the stability ball! I enjoy the volume 4 workout, even though it's challenging, but I seem to have a much harder time with these other ones. I like about half the exercises and the other half are either hard on my knees (example: the infamous one legged hamstring roll ins...not happening!) or the ball is wobbling all over the place. I don't know...I felt unsatisfied with my workout today. Like I struggled but I didn't feel totally "worked out". Darn it. :(

With that frustration vented...I think I'm going to hold off on trying August Hardcore I told you about Carolyn. That's the one that is supposedly similar to bootcamp, but the 1 minute horizontal moves are all on the ball. I think I need to wait awhile and forget my frustration until I try it . I love the HC's that use the gliders and step so I'm going to do one of those on Thursday instead, I think. Tomorrow is To the Max! Yay! :D

Man, my stomach was feeling great today until I ate lunch. :( I definitely don't tolerate dairy as well after enduring a stomach virus. I totally forgot about that . Ugh. My day not going so well!

Good luck with the MRI results Carolyn! Hopefully they have something definitive to tell you. I think if I remember right, when I had my MRI the "retail" cost of it was something like $3500-4000. (!) Then with insurance, I also ended up paying $1500.

I have that sucky United Health Care insurance that Missy was talking about. Worst Insurance Ever! Every year they bug us about getting our physicals and sending all this information in. I get my physical but I feel like they are totally being "Big Brother" asking for all my data...even though it's all excellent and I'm wicked healthy and they offer a discount for my numbers...it just feels totally creepy and like an invasion of privacy so I refuse to send it in. I hate UHC!!! Luckily we have the option to do an HSA through work, so when we have big medical bills we usually have enough in there to cover stuff. Usually.

Okay...I feel like I'm being kind of negative. I'm swear I'm not really in that bad of a mood today! lol

Better run! TTYL

Colleen--That is what I am talking about. First off, they get the darn claims from the doctors with dx codes on them. So all they have to do it use that data. But no that is not enough for them. I think it is against Hippa to do what they are doing. Some of the info is on patients that are not ours at all. I would be mad if they send all this health info on me to a complete strangers dr office. It is B/S!!!

Last physical year...UHC required all GA state members to fill out a form with there glucose, HDl,LDL, height , weight, and B/P on it and fax it in. Or they would increase there premiums. But, the Dr had to sign off on them. So not only are they putting this on the patient but the Dr too! Crazy!!!!

Other than that....I too am in a good mood! Just thought you girls would like to hear some of the Insurance B/s!!!! :p

Good Evening! I was going to do Afterburn today but decided to do B&G!!! Tim was on treadmill while I was working out!!! He said this is better, Cathe is your speed, this is mine! Hahaha :)

Don't you just love B&G stretch? It fully relaxes me!!! I also love the music. Wish i knew what it was. It is so beautiful!!!

Off to shower, and watch NCIS....season premeire!!!!! I have been waiting so long....gotta go!!!

Hope everyone has a nice evening!

Well the appt went well except I didn't get her to agree to a leave which I figured would be the case. I told her about the pt that hit me and she was empathetic and told me I should talk to my mgr about how I can avoid that situation. Ummmm sort of impossible. Oh well whatever. Really I am only on that unit tomorrow and Thurs evening and then the rest of my shift are on Chem Dep so I figure I will just deal with it. I will earn more PTO that way anyways. I have 6 days off after Thurs so I plan on fully relaxing those days. Then I'm on 5 days. I think I can get that 5th one of though because it's an education day.....my mgrs probably won't mind rescheduling that because of my situation. Sitting in a classroom for 8 hours sounds painful. So hopefully off that Mon and off for sure Tue then I work my due date which is an evening shift and the following evening too. I have a feeling little B is gong to be late. No dilation and no effacement yet.

Have a good evening everyone!

Wow, this is a fast moving thread!

Thank you all for the encouragement on the pushups! I can't even imagine being able to do 30 puhsups in a row, but I'm going keep working at it and hope I get there. :p

Becky, how do you homeschool?? Seems like a very tough undertaking. I love sending my kids off to school!:D
High five on disc 2! Bonus points for adding on abs!
Are you a vegetarian, based on your username?

We've always homeschooled, so I don't really know any other way. Our oldest is a senior this year, so he's thisclose to being done! I have another in 10th grade and the youngest is in 4th. We actually love homeschooling and the flexibility it gives us.

I used to be vegetarian -- was one when I signed up for this forum a while back, but I didn't really participate much here because I wasn't really working out. Got more serious recently, and just kept the name. Now I try to eat a clean diet, but I do eat some meat and fish.

Took a walk today for 3.4 miles and did Ab Circuits (the one on the ball). I love these ab workouts and how varied they are, but they are HARD! Another thing I have to look forward to -- between these and the couple of Horizontal Conditioning workouts I have, my core should get really strong.

Good Morning! It's Wednesday!!!

I have DOMS this morning! My abs are on fire!!! They are screaming at me today!!! Thats what I like! I just love DOMS!!

Becky---as long as you keep at it, those push ups will get easier. When I did STS the first time, I thought Cathe was trying to kill me with push ups, but they get easier....and when they do....you will realize you are etting stronger and the program works!!! :D

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

The weather is beautiful out today!!!

Off to work!:)

Morning All,

Checking in with disk 5 completed this morning. Last night after the kids went to bed I did some stretching on my own for about 15 minutes. It felt good. I feel like I don’t get enough stretching in anymore. I used to love Yoga, I just hate giving up a day of working out just to do Yoga and I don’t have the time to do more than an hour of working out…

Carolyn, that is so upsetting about your son. How old is he again, 11? My daughter will be 8 in November and I just pray she get a few more years of believing.

I have UHC too. I just got a survey from work asking us to sign into UHC and complete a health survey. You get a chance to win and iPad or WII fit, but I really don’t like answering surveys about my heath. So I’m going to pass.

Marie, sorry you can’t get a doctor’s note. Sounds like you will have some days off soon to relax!

Missy, congrats on the abs DOMS today!!!

It’s Wednesday – the week is half way over!!!

Have a great day.

Happy Wednesday!

Good morning everyone!
I have a few extra minutes this morning before cases start so I'm catching up on all things Internet (email, Cathe forum, online shopping ;-) )...

Last night I did Disc 5 (back and triceps). I am seriously in love with STS! I love the pump I get from it. Cathe is la crème de la crème! The warm up on Disc 5 was weird though...Cathe and crew were off beat or something...and using the tubing in lieu of chin ups/pull ups...I definitely feel it, but it's not so super hard that I can't do another rep...maybe I'm doing them wrong? Maybe I need heavier tubing? I'm using Cathe's red tubing...

Here's another question...I've noticed that on the workout card, not all the exercises have a "target weight" listed...it just says "NA". So, I've just been winging it in terms of the weight I ultimately use. Thoughts on this? Did I input my 1RM results incorrectly or miss putting in some results?

Also, when you update the weights in the Workout Manager, does it update the weights you'll end up using in a future workout?

Today I think I'm going to do intervals on the treadmill for about 20 min then HIIT 30/30. I really wish Cathe would do a HIIT sequel.

Missy, read your success story in the newsletter on Monday. You look awesome! Congratulations!!

Good luck to the person who is having /had their MRI! (Sorry, can't remember who it was!) Jean, I like your idea of keeping notes...I might do that and keep it in my STS notebook....

Hope everyone has an awesome day!
