STS first time!

Checking in with cycle max done this morning. I haven't done a spinning workout in a while. It felt good. I burned 460 calories and was dripping in sweat.

Colleen I hope you are feeling better.

Carolyn BC sounded crazy.

My husband will come in while i am yelling at a cathe asking what's going on? Too funny.

Hope everyone has a nice Sunday.

Thank you for all the welcomes!

A little about myself? Well, I'm 45, just got into fitness a couple of years ago, usually working out with one of my daughters. I'm a married mom of 3, a homeschooler, living in Virginia, but we've moved around a lot. Also have 2 rescue pups and a spoiled cat.

We had gorgeous weather here today, so got the dogs out for a five mile walk. I'm going to try to do one of the Ab Circuits, but after yesterday's workout, I don't think I could even hold a plank -- my shoulders and chest are SO SORE! :p

Carolyn---You are too funny! Hey at least you did the entire workout!!! My husband messes with me from time to time. Mimicking things he may here me say to Cathe...hehehe :p Love it! Nothing comes for free, you have to work for those results....I have to remind myself that sometimes. Today I am going to kill the lower body and Abs with B&G. In its entirety!!!

Colleen---I hope you are feeling better!

My husband is going to walk/jog on the treadmill tonight while I do my workout! :D

Making funfetti cupcakes with halloween orange icing for Tim!!! 5 minutes to go in the oven! I am going to try and be good....no cupcake for me! hehe

Having the inlaws over for dinner tonight. Grilled chicken, side salad (for me) baked potatos, beans. Should be yummy! They always say we cook to healthy! Oh well!!! Healthy eating and exercise= Looking good!!!!

Gotta go! :)

Jean, yup. She got a new toy and she will get an extra treat tonight. She is on a special diet as she had pancreatitis so that limits us with the food she can have.

I really love spinning. I got into it about a year and a half ago. This past summer I would take a spin class every Saturday. I was so excited when Cathe came out with a spin workout. I have several others but nothing compares to what Cathe does. Can't wait for Ride. Funny story, for our anniversary last year my husband got me my spin bike. Most people were like "he got you what"?? But I was so trilled because It was exactly what I wanted.

Done with work, now home and on the couch :) Work was tiring but that's what I get for working a double back. They had a mini shower for me and another girl at work that's due 3 days after me. We had egg bake, hash brown bake and fruit.....not healthy lol but good! We also had ice cream cake...yum! They bought me a Johnny Jump Up too. Super stoked about that. Apparently it was my favorite when I was a baby.

Betty and Carolyn- I do totally need to start taking it easy. I am actually going to talk to my dr on Tue and see if she can write me a note to stop working on the 1st. I still have so much to do and would like some time to just lay around and do nothing too. Not to mention I don't want to be worn out for labor. The Geri Psych unit has been so stressful lately. We are short staffed and have some really heavy patients. One actually hit me yesterday. Granted it was in the leg but I was still pissed! She is completely oriented and everything. I always tried to give her the benefit of the doubt but not anymore. She has been on our unit for 60+ days (average length of stay is 14 days). She is waiting for there to be an opening in the state mental hospital which is right where she belongs. How dare her hit a pregnant women!!!

Colleen- Hope you are feeling better! Nothing worse than being sick at work!

Well off to get dinner started. Figured something healthier should be in the making since I kind of went crazy at work today. Salmon, couscous and green beans on the menu!

SIL just sent this pic from when we went apple picking. This was my Athleta purchase!

Great picture! What a cute family you have! And you look great of course!

Good Evening!

Carolyn---OMG you look amazing in that outfit! I so want one!

ColleenD---I too am one of the nuts that get crazy over exercise equipment. I just love it. One christmas, my husband and I did themes for our presents. And of course mine was "fitness". It was amazing!!! Carolyn keeps trying to get us to buy a spin bike, and I would love too. But, I already have and elliptical and treadmill. (which I use daily) Not to mention I had a regular upright bike and sold it because I never used it. But one day I will probably cave! hahaha :D

Jean---After the inlaws left, we cleaned up the kithcen and went to exercise. It was really nice. I think I liked it better than doing DVD's together. Because I was doing my own thing but I still has someone along side of me! He said he was going to start with 3 times a week, and then increase. I am going to stay on him, becuae I think it will be good for him. :)

Marie--I hope you get some rest. And how dare that crazy patient hit a pregnant women! OMG, Did you tell Tony? If so, I bet he bought lost it! I agree with everyone, you need to take some time prior to delivery for you!! Lay around, be lazy, watch movies, relax, eat! Just have some "Me" time before the baby!!! :)

Colleen---I hope your tummy is better!

Hello to everyone else!

Okay, off to shower! Have a nice evening!

Carolyn, you are one gorgeous lady! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You're certainly not too skinny, or work out too much! Your family is lovely! A beauty of a pic too--use it for Xmas cards...

Congrats on doing BC!!! You are strong, woman!

Your day sounded wonderful. Nothing like spending time with great friends, and it's a bonus when the kids get along. What a day for it, too!

I do grunt, moan, curse, pant to myself when I'm working out too.:D

Marie, how frightening that patient hit you! In your late stages and in your field, it is not unreasonable to ask to stop working and/or be assigned to non-risky areas! Yikes. Stay away.

ColleenK, I sure hope you're feeling better! That sounded awful. Must have been a stomach bug. Can't believe you'd even consider working out the next day.

ColleenD, I second the question--what kind of spin bike did you receive? We all want fitness products.:D I have CM but no bike yet.

This morning I went out to breakfast with close girlfriends and I ate too many carbs (french toast, pancakes). Also bought cupcakes at the bakery. Will attack the calories in the am.

What an absolutely perfect day--sunny with dry, refreshing, breezy air, and not too chilly!:)

Should go to bed now. This stupid cold is draining me, alternating between drippy and stuffy nose:mad:. Better go finish the trashy book I'm reading:D.

See you in the morning!

Carolyn- you look so beautiful in your picture! Like a model! I am so impressed you did all of BC without pausing!:D Great job, girl! I still can't do that. lol I totally think if you rotated volumes 2, 3 and BC on a weekly basis you would be in killer shape and your abs would be totally flat and strong! Even just doing those twice a week would be awesome!

Yesterday I felt quite a bit better, but I was still not 100%. I really wanted to work out, but To the Max was not something I was up for:eek:. I figured I wasn't up to going anaerobic yesterday! lol So I opted for KPC instead. Kicks and punches (no weighted gloves like usual) were just right for getting my blood flowing! I started out the day really tired. I think it was because I basically slept all of Saturday away:eek:. You know how it is when you've sort of slept too much and you almost have a sleep hangover? KPC helped to wake me up and knock the cobwebs out of my brain!

Today's my usual rest day...although I feel pretty good and could almost work out. No time on Mondays though, even if I wanted to!

Did anybody else watch the Emmy's last night? I was so happy Aaron Paul won best supporting actor (for Breaking Bad) but ticked off Breaking Bad didn't win best drama and Bryan Cranston was totally robbed of best actor. Homeland is a good show, though. If you guys haven't seen it you should totally check it out!

Betty- you're so funny for continuing to read that book! lol I know what you mean though...I'm the same way with movies. If I get so far into it I just have to see how it plays out!:p

Missy- I'm so glad you got Tim to start on the treadmill! Good for him! Mark has been getting up a little early to try and get at least 20 minutes on the treadmill too, the past few weeks. We're rubbing off on the boys, yay!! :D

Marie- that made me furious to hear a patient had hit you:mad::mad:! Grr! WTH? People can be so snaky! I hope you can get that early leave! I always thought I could work right up to the end with both pregnancies and both times I wound up taking the week before off. I'm so glad I did! One of my daycare ladies told me she worked right up to the end and her water broke while she was watching the kids on the playground! Can you imagine going straight from work to the labor unit?

ColleenD- I always ask for fitness stuff for birthdays and Christmas!:D Forget jewelry, give me a fitness toy! My hubby gets it now...he finally stopped trying to buy me jewelry. The only jewelry I wear is my wedding ring, a pair of small diamond studs and a watch he gave me 12 years ago. That's it! I never wear anything else he ever gave me, poor guy:eek:.

Okay gotta hop in the shower! TTYL

Good Morning Ladies!

Checking with Disk 4 done this morning. I am super tired this morning. I have to work late tonight, so I ended up getting up at 5:50 instead of 5 to workout. I just think the weekend has caught up with me. Yesterday we went shopping as a family because the kids were really lacking on fall clothes. By the end of the trip by son was getting really cranky and ended up getting a bloody nose. It happened so fast I couldn't even get tissue out or get to a bathroom. I sat down in the middle of the mall and luckily Courtney had a sweater with her (that I was carrying) and used that. Then went home and made a more larabars, shrimp stir fry with green peppers, red peppers, onions and broccoli. It was very yummy. I also made some hamburgers for tonight's dinner. I don’t think I sat down until after the kids went to bed. It was a good day though.

Carolyn and Betty, I have a LeMond RevMaster Pro spin bike. It’s a pricy bike but I love it so much. It has so many adjustments that you can really get a custom fit. Being so short, it was really so important to me to have adjustments. It’s also extremely quite. We also have a treadmill and also went with a gym quality and it was really worth the investment. We’ve had it almost 7 years and all we have to do is lube the belt about once a year.

What a great picture Carolyn. You look fantastic!

Colleen, glad you are feeling better. Great job in getting a workout in yesterday.

Missy, that’s great the Tim is going to start using the treadmill. My husband is the main user of our treadmill; he uses it 3-4 times per week to run.

Hummm, I’m thinking I might really need to get HC. I was checking out some of the clips on U tube last night. They look so hard!

Marie, you dinner sounded yummy. I love salmon. We usually have it one a week. Please try to get some rest. I hope you are able to sop working on the 1st.

I didn’t know the Emmy’s were on either.

Betty, what book are you reading?

Have a Happy Monday!!

Good morning everyone!!
Hope everyone had an awesome weekend!!

I did Disc 4 yesterday...chest/bis/shoulders. What's up with all those pushups?!?! What am I whining for....I loved every last one of those arm shaking, cursing out loud push ups. ;-)

I cohosted a baby shower yesterday and I ate a ton of sweets. And took a fair amount home with me. :) my sweet tooth is crazy!! Everyone is always like,"oh, vegan sweets can't be good with no eggs/milk/butter". That is just not true!!!! ;-)

For those that are interested, I love Isa Chandra Moskowitz's cookbooks. I think someone on the Cathe forums actually recommended her to me. Her recipes are great. She's got several wonderful books. Bryant Terry is another vegan chef (and food activist... food is definitely a sociopolitical/economic thing...) whom I love. Nava Atlas is another chef who is awesome. Her new book Wild About Greens will definitely help you get those leafy greens in daily! ;-)

Today, I'm slated to do Low Max. Not my fave, but I guess I don't mind it too much.

Here's to a great week!!
:)

Carolyn, thanks! Lately it's only been once a week. I too find it hard to fit in all my DVDs in. I will hop on it after a shorter workout sometimes to get in my 60 minutes. I do find that on lower energy days or days I just want to deal with moving around too much I tend to gravitate to a spinning workout. It’s just so much less impact on my body, plus you get a great rear end and leg work out!

Missy, you are in the weekly newsletter as the spot light! Congrats!!

Carolyn, I forgot to mention I love Athleta! Love the way they fit and feel, especially because they come in petite. I have several things from them. Couple dresses, workout carpis, workout shorts and the workout tops with build in bras.

Good Morning!

OMG!!! I just checked my email and there I was in the newsletter. It is so exciting! This weekend when I saw it on the website, It actually brought tears to my eyes. I succeeded!!! Finally! I have never felt better! I am so happy!

Thanks to you girls, you kept me motivated to keep pushing forward! :D

:D:eek::p:)

Did Disc 2 today! I liked this one better than Disc 1 because pushups are still hard for me, and to do that many of them in one workout is rough. I'm hoping that sticking with it will help me to do more of them -- any progress will be great news. The chin-ups today were hard too -- I do them supine under a bar because I can't quite do them hanging yet, but that is a goal of mine -- to be able to do real honest-to-goodness chin-ups!

I did yoga-based abs too, and that was a nice add-on.

Jean, we are in the Fredericksburg area, halfway between DC and Richmond. Where are you in MD? My parents used to live in Germantown before moving down here to be closer to us.

Good Afternoon! Been extremely busy this morning!!!

Do any of you use a weight vest with any of the Cathe DVD's?

Also, do you think I will need the STS squat rack DVD Set? (This is the only Cathe DVD I do not have????) I have done STS 1 complete time through and 1 half time. Just curious????

Hi everyone!

I did LBB today. Why do I keep picking all these tough lower body workouts?? I despise squats and lunges! Anyway, tough, but finished it. Well, most of it. Skipped a few of those despised reps.

Carolyn, your Athleta outfit looks fantastic. I have a small collection of Nike stuff (mostly bottoms of different length), which I love, but I rarely wear them out, since I exercise at home. And then, since I overheat easily while working out, I just wear the short-shorts.
You and ColleenK are going to turn more people to HC soon with your raving!:D
Stinks that you got the cold. I experienced what you're going through with the nose:mad:. Now I'm blowing like crazy, and wanting to sneeze a lot (but don't:mad:).
Go ahead and tweak your STS rotation by adding HC. Since you'll be working out your body differently, you'll see results.
Are your guys bummed about NHL hockey?

Becky, how do you homeschool?? Seems like a very tough undertaking. I love sending my kids off to school!:D
High five on disc 2! Bonus points for adding on abs!
Are you a vegetarian, based on your username?

Missy, CONGRATS! More $$ to spend!:D What will you use it on? I don't have a vest but have an unopened Squat Rack dvd.

ColleenD, you have a super duper spin bike. That's awesome!
Have your heard of Fifty Shades of Grey? That's what I'm reading. Jean and Meredith have already read it, but we agree the writing is rather juvenile and a turn-off (pun intended). I hate to leave it unfinished so I'll muddle through it.
The fitness industry has a loooong way to go with providing petite fitness clothes! To this day it is still lacking. Infuriating!
High five on disc 4!

Shannelle, thanks for the vegan book ideas. I have a mad sweet tooth too, but have yet to be convinced treats made of silken tofu are yummy.
High five on disc 4!
I don't really like Low Max for some reason. I keep looking at it but, no. The music is off...

Marie, I watched Hunger Games and liked JenLaw in it--she did it justice. As usual, the movie leaves so much out that if you didn't read the book, you're lost.

I love getting the People mag issues showing the Emmy and Oscar dresses. Rarely watch the shows though, since they're about 4 hours long!

ColleenK, KPC is a good one to sweat all the germs out, as well as clear the mind.
You are non-stop, girl!

Missy- Whoo hoo! You're in the spotlight! :D I just love that pic of you flexing your arms! They look so fantastic and your waist looks so tiny!

Carolyn- I was thinking about your STS/HC dilemma...I'm wondering the same thing about when I get XTrain and whether I'll be able to continue doing as much HC when I get it . I was thinking...maybe you could try eliminating the chest and shoulder work in STS and keep in the other exercises while still doing HC? That's what I was thinking about doing when I get XTrain. Honestly, I have no idea if that will work though! :p I know for sure I need to keep at least one HC day going though when I start that!
That's so funny, yeah I totally thought you meant you did all of BC from start to finish...I was blown away! lol  Are your lats on fire today? :p That was me last week! I also have all of Hardcore and 101 club dvds (I went all in ). I've been told that the August Hardcore workout is similar to the Bootcamp with one minute of plyo and one minute of horizontal work except that one uses the stability ball. I plan on doing that one Thursday and I'll let you know! If you like the way BC was and this one is truly similar, you might want to put it on your wish list! :D Volume 3 is so great...you will love it!

Veggie gal (Becky)- do you have the Turbo tower? I was so excited when I got mine to be able to (at least attempt:eek:) the chin ups! Before that I was using the rubber tubing and it wasn't nearly as challenging. Great job on disc 2!

sunsdaughter (Shanelle?)- great job on Disc 4! Oh my gosh, all the food you talk about sounds soooo awesome! Makes me hungry! :D

So no one else watched the Emmy's? I was watching for Breaking Bad, otherwise I don't normally tune in. When Aaron Paul won I threw up my arms and yelled "YES!" Mark's all "you are in love with him aren't you???" Okay, confession time. Aaron Paul just happens to resemble my first high school boyfriend who also was named Aaron. Oh, and he's an amazing actor, too! :p

TTYL ladies!

ETA: Whoa I was posting the same time as you guys! Betty awesome job on LBB! Rock it girl! You just have to trick your mind into thinking you love lower body work. ;) Find a happy place! lol I'm always playing mind tricks with myself like that...somehow it's easy to fool myself! :p

I also agree--- I don't need the Squat rack DVD, it is hard enough for me to complete the entire STS meso's because I miss all my other workouts. I am already moving workouts all around to fit other workouts in that I want to do. hehehe :) I have sucessfully done disc 1 and 2 this past week or so. I just want to do other workouts. hehehe :) Tonight I am thinking HST!!! You know thats one of my all time favorites!!!

Do any of you have a Cathe tshirt? If so, do they run small? I think I am getting one to wear in my next 5K since it will be cooler weather. A tank will not be warm enough! Then I can represent Cathe!!!!

hehehehe :) I am just giddy today!!!
