STS first time!

Good Evening girls.

Carolyn--I did not do a Cathe DVD tonight. I did 1 hr of cardio. I am out of alignment. If I am not better tomorrow I will have to go to the chiropractor. My left shoulder hurts, right neck is stiff, hips hurt like crazy and low back is stiff. My bones also ache. This has hapened before and I let it go till is was so bad I was in alot of pain. So, if no better tomorrow I will definately get an adjustment. Then I will be better. Didnt want to lift weights with my shoulder hurting. My chiropractor is very nice and he always works you in if needed. I am a longtime patient. :)

Okay, onto better things. That is funny....

I can't wait to hear when the new workouts will be done!!!!!!!! I wonder what they will cost?! who the heck cares?!

It was exactly my thought!!!!

I am pumped up for them. I was jumping around yesterday telling my husband and he just laughed! He said, I have never seen you so excited to get your butt kicked!!! :D :) :p

I may have to purchase a bike now that there are 2 cycle workouts!!! Just didnt want to buy a spin bike for only 1 dvd. But now I have no choice!!!!

Okay, gotta go shower and make my lunch for tomorrow! BBL!!! ;)

Mary---we were posting at same time! Good Evening!

Are you sure you don't want to spin? I am not 100% sure but Carolyn says its an amzing workout!!!! So I am thinking about it!!!! hehehe :D

For example, I did exercise 621: alt seated shoulder press & used 15# wts, 13 reps and my rm was 23; incline chest fly: used 15# (each db was 15#) did 20 reps with rm of 32...so, that's basically a little more than I lift now, right? one arm row did 25# 15 rep with rm of 41...
Tricep kickback, I did 10# each arm, did 20 reps: rm shows 21 ( I couldn't lift 20# each arm!... Thanks for the replies and help!

About Me...Here we go again!

Hello!

Well, the post I slaved away typing on my phone never appeared...;( Not sure what happened to it, so I'll try again.

Thanks for the invite over here and the warm welcome!

I just turned 29 (I'm a Gemini too!) and have been happily married for 8.5 years! The second love of my life is my 4 year old Bichapoo (toy poodle and bichon frise hybrid) named Lola. I was born and raised on Long Island, NY and lived in Boulder, CO for 11 years until my husband and I moved to WA state so that I could pursue my dreams and attend Bastyr University, a leading University in the Natural Health Arts and Sciences.

I have my bachelor's of Science in Nutrition and Culinary Arts from Bastyr and am in my second year of grad school (Masters of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics). Bastyr is amazing because they are one of the only schools out there that emphasize Whole Foods and they have a crazy intense rigorous science curriculum (So glad I took the Summer off!). I just completed my first year of grad school and have a year left before I am a nutritionist and then a year internship to also become a Registered Dietician.

I am a Whole Foods Chef and Nutrition Educator and love to teach about Whole Foods Cooking and Nutrition!!! I work at several places teaching Whole Food Cooking and Nutrition classes and specialize in Pantry Makeovers, Food Shopping Tours, Private Cooking Classes, Group Cooking Classes, Cooking Demo's for Businesses, Seaweed Harvesting, etc. I LOVE Whole Foods!!! And my philosophy that I teach is that Food Is Our Best Medicine, but it also has to be a Source of Enjoyment!!!!! This is the key to success and eating as a lifestlye and in order to be fully nourished. So I basically teach clients all of the tips and tricks for getting more whole foods into the diet and how to make them tasty. So enjoy that ice cream when you decide to eat it and savor each bite, guiltlessly. ;) Oh, I also have a Food, Cooking and Nutrition blog that you are welcome to check out and follow along (I'd love to have you ;) ) called Thyme to Spice It Up over at blogspot. I also am a meditation teacher.

I've taken a couple of Sports Nutrition classes at the grad level and am SUPER excited to apply this knowledge to the STS program!!! Yippee!!! I believe that in the past I struggled to gain muscle and sculpt well defined muscles because I lacked this knowledge (even though I had a great nutrition foundation, ate a superb diet and all and was well versed on books and magazines such as Clean Eating). I also had some major health issues a couple of years back that were fighting against my ability to build lean muscle mass, yet I have COMPLETELY recovered by using food, meditation, positive thinking, etc and hence why I am out in this field now helping others. It's super fulfilling and I love it. Ok, I feel like I went on a tangent about all of this. I hope you all were serious about wanting to know more about me, lol.

To answer a few questions (let's see if I remember...) I do not have a Turbo Tower. I had STS on my computer and phone and have a gym membership. I take my workout with me and it's pretty freaking awesome. I also found that some of the weights I was told to use after completing 1RM weren't accurate for me: some were too heavy, some were too light and some were just right. I recorded the adjustments on my paper print out. Meredith! So glad that we are starting this together and have some experts on this program behind us. :D I am doing the 6.5 month program and I am doing Abs 2x's a week after cardio, also doing the extended stretch after each STS and yoga video once a week to round it out. For cardio I am currently doing some of the STS Shock series workouts. I have one of the Hit (double wave pyramid) and then the cardio core one. I'll probably throw in kick punch and crunch and some treadmill into the mix to change it up too. I don't have a step currently...would LOVE to add step to my routine as I used to be a dancer and love the rhythm and challenge of the moves. Keeps me on my toes. So, hopefully eventually I'll add that too.

Ok, I think that's it for now! That was alot. Enjoy the read and hope you all had a great workout unless you were resting and if you'd like to connect with me on my blog, FB or twitter at Thyme to Spice It Up, feel free and I'd love to have you.

Looking forward to learning lots from your STS experience. And I'd love to hear more about what cardio you did while doing STS and what your results with the program were as far as building and sculpting muscles. :)

Marie- every time I do AB I swear I literally feel slimmer afterwards!:D I don't know what it is about that work out, but it's true. I even posted a thread on VF about it:p. No worries about indulging when your pregnant though! Baby loves some ice cream.;) You'll have plenty of time to lose the weight after baby is here so don't worry too much right now. Just enjoy the ride!:D Are you planning on breast feeding? It is crazy how the metabolism furnace burns over time when you do that. I lost most of the pounds very quickly from doing that but there are always those last 5-8 lbs that refuse to leave easily. Those are the pounds that Cathe will burn off for ya!

Yup I am planning on breast feeding :) It has sooo many benefits including the quicker weight loss which I am especially looking forward ;) I have my class on it in a few weeks!

Si- Great to meet you! Congrats on completing your first year of grad school. I'm sure you will have a lot of great food info for us. Looking forward to that. I checked out your blog...looks very interesting. Thanks for sharing. I'll continue to check it out. And I second that Carolyn- Si you are super pretty!

I'm a former dancer too and LOVE step! You should get one. I have all of Cathe's complex step routines and love them. I also am into Rebecca Small. She offers some great complex choreography too :)

Gemini's rule! June 7th here!

Boulder is so beautful isn't it?! My husband and I (married 8.5 years too) lived in Summit County for 4 years and loved every second.

Glad to have you on the STS First Time forum :)

Siona, you are gorgeous (and what a lovely name)! And a heaven-send! Thanks for your bio! I absolutely love your food and nutrition background! If I were 20 years younger, I'd do what you're doing! We are all interested in eating healthy, but there is just so much conflicting data/info out there! I literally freeze with indecisiveness when I'm in the market sometimes!

I'd love to hear about your recovery using food. I'll also follow your blog. Wow! I'm speechless! You seem to be an energizer bunny too! How do you do it all??

Missy, I'll have to second the getting a bike with another spin dvd coming out! My husband keeps joking we'll replace our chairs with spin bikes and use them while we watch Big L!

Jean, I love kale! Been eating it several times a week for over a year! I can't get it to grow, though. It gets eaten up by bugs? Any advice?

Well, it's close to midnight again. Better go to bed. Chat with you all tomorrow!

Work is almost done. Just waiting to the clock to hit 11:30pm. For the newbies- I'm an RN and love it. I float between 2 units- Geriatric psych and Chemical Dependency. Every day brings a new adventure...most times anyways.

Afterburn rocked this AM. Glad I started off the week with that one.

Not to much else to write. Boring day I guess. Plus I'm too tired to think haha!

Chat with ya all tomorrow :)

Good Morning and Happy Tuesday!!!

Up bright and early for my morning cardio!!! :p

Gemini here too---May 26th

Si- I am also 29 yrs old. I actually work at a doctors office (internal Medicine) I am the office manager. I see all of the different sides of health. It is so sad to see what people do to there health and well being. Most people are overweight and would rather take pills there entire life than exercise once. It is horrible. But, then you have people like us that love exercise and don't want to take meds at all. But, more of them than us!!! That is why I am so nutty about exercise and healthy eating. I see it on a daily basis and that will make you look at your life and try to live it as healthy as possible.

Maire---maybe the new series will be out just in time for post baby weight!!! :)

Okay, off to work. Check back in a little bit!!!!

Oh...I almost forgot....

Betty---That is too funny. I would second spinning while watching the BL!!! Looking forward to a new season. Hopefully soon!!!

Si- I've put your blog on my favorites bar!:D I'm going to try and check it out more once things slow down. I just got back from vacation and I've been slammed with being super busy at work and all sorts of things I gotta do at home coming up at once. My daughter's birthday is on Saturday and we didn't think to plan anything before our vacation so now I'm rushing around trying to get something pulled together for Saturday:confused:.
Also want to third the "wow you are gorgeous girl!"

I think I'm going to do CrossFire today. I was tempted to do TTM first but I love me some firewalkers! I can't wait to see what Cathe did with the firewalker tabata!

Okay girls...we have to make our decision by monday.....

We're going to pretty much follow the same pre-sale format as we did with the Low Impact series. Initially we will be offering two Limited Edition Box sets: XTRAIN without "Ride" for $89.97 and XTRAIN with "Ride" for $99.97 (both box set prices include FREE Worldwide Expedited Shipping). In either case this is a 50% savings over purchasing the DVDs individually. We will not be selling the individual DVDs until much later on.

Also remember, you can also purchase any of our current in stock DVDs, including our two newest: CrossFire and To The Max and get free worldwide shipping on both your pre-sale and current in stock DVDs. You can also get free shipping on most of our fitness products too (just look for the green truck icon). Current in stock items will ship now and your pre-sale DVDs will ship when available.

You will also be able to pre-order Downloads and DVD/Download Discount Bundles

Do we want to RIDE? hehehe :p

I just finished CrossFire the premix with the bonus core. I felt I was good to do the impact version since I need to save the less impact one for the last 2 weeks of my cycle. I think I told you guys before about how I discovered my knees were extra cranky and unstable during the week before and during ttotm but I seem to do okay the first 2 weeks of the month. Weird! I've developed a rhythm now where I stick with LIS, kettlebells and weight or HC work during that time and now these 2 new workouts with their less impact premix will be ones I can use during that time too!:D

I was a little disappointed with myself with CF today...partly because whenever I learn a new workout I always seem to get behind the rep count as I'm figuring out what the next move is like so I tend to rewind alot and partly because I wasn't able to put everything into it today. Can you guys believe I still have lower body DOMS from my Sunday workout? The DOMS were so bad yesterday I had trouble sitting and going upstairs! It sure felt good to know I really worked it though!:p

Carolyn- definitely keep at the HC workout! It really works the upper body alot! I got DOMS in my shoulders and lats big time when I first started it. I love the definition I was getting from doing them! I haven't done a traditional weight workout in awhile, actually. I actually find body weight exercise a lot tougher than traditional weights! I do want to do a full body one soon though...maybe STS total body or TBT. I can't seem to fit it all in!

Better finish getting ready for work! BBL

Holy Cow!

I think I just spent the last 20 minutes reading this forum and crafting a reply. I had to take notes! And now my kids are up so I gotta jet!

Jean, thanks for researching the disks/carpet for me! And for all of the other information you provide. You rock! Also, you asked about hand weights. I have dumbbell sets of 3, 5, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20 and 25. I may need to go get 30s and 35s at some point though. How can you NOT feel tricep push-ups in your triceps? Ouch!

Missy, Congrats on the 55 lb. weight loss! WOW! Between the 2 video workouts everyday plus the farm chores, you have to be in the best shape ever! How do you do it? Oh yeah, didn’t you say you were 29? I want that energy! All those vegetables sound great. I grew up on a farm in Michigan and we always had so much food from our garden. I have a lemon tree and a single tomato plant in my yard (1 tomato so far :)) I also have an orange tree, but it’s not established yet. I have lemons for days tho. I get an organic fruit and veggie delivery every other week. Actually, there’s a good question for…

Si, what’s your take on organics? Worth the price or no? If worth it only for some, which do you recommend? I get organic milk (SO expensive!) and eggs, and try to get the fruit and veggies when I can. I am so going to read your blog!

Colleen, thanks for the tip on the bands, I’m going to try that tomorrow! What is Horizontal Conditioning?

Marie, I lived in Minneapolis from 1992-1996. I went to law school there and then clerked for a judge in St. Cloud the last year. I breast fed both of my kids. I'm glad I did, but for me, it was life's biggest challenge getting started. I'm not even kidding. It was hard to get started, I cried a lot, so stressful. Not trying to scare you, just want you to know that if you think it's impossible at the start - it's totally normal. I promised to give it 2 weeks and then I wouldn't feel bad if I quit. I didn't and 2 weeks was what it took to feel comfortable both times.

Carolyn, you like the spinning? Do you have a bike at home then?
The new series sounds great! I loved CTX and as for STS, I’ll have to see how I feel about it :) but… I like dancy step routines! Am I the only one? Otherwise, cardio gets so boring. I did not order CF and TTM. It was the first Cathe pre-order I haven’t done in like forever. What Betty said about having to workout to Cathe every single day to do them all ;)

Okay, gotta go. have a great day!

Okay girls...we have to make our decision by monday.....

Do we want to RIDE? hehehe :p

Decisions! Decisions! Hmmm I'm liking that price though. For some reason I thought it'd be more. I'm probably going without Ride since I don't have a spin bike. As much as I would love one I think it I invested in a piece of cardio equipment it would have to be an elliptical.

OMG can't wait til these come out. And yes Missy let's hope it's in time for post baby weight :)

I already warned Tony that Cathe is coming out with a new series. He just rolled his eyes and smiled haha! Gotta love him!

Thanks for the tip Meredith. My sister has a 3 month old and she had some trouble starting too but said it was all worth it. Hoping I will feel the same way. Thanks for the heads up.

Very cool that you lived in Mpls! It's a great city :)

Nope, you're not the only one who LOVES dancy step. They are my favorite!!! I have all Cathe's dancy step routines :) Check out Rebecca Small too...I'm sure you would love her stuff!

AT is on board today for a workout :) Better get my booty to the basement. I spent way too much time on the computer then morning.

Grocery shopping before work at 3. Not much for excitement in this day!

Missy, where did you find this announcement??! I'm totally getting the Ride! Price is not bad, doable!

I think we're all fitness DVD hoarders!:D:p

I don't like dancy step routines. I get lost so easily when Cathe has these in her workouts!

Si, I too want to hear your take on organic food, as well as supplements!

Better go get some things done!
