STS first time!

Morning!

Not much time to post as I've got to get a wiggle on. :) I'm going to do Kettlebell Kickboxing today and then I've got to get the kids to daycare early as they are taking them swimming at the town pool today. They just happened to mention to Mark when he picked up the kids about needing to get them their earlier than usual and Mark almost forgot to tell me:mad:. This has happened before where I get to daycare and they are all gone on some field trip, I have to get to work and I'm all in a tizzy trying to scramble and figure out where they are so I can drive them there. It's nice they take them on field trips and all, though.

Gotta get some oatmeal in me! I'll be back later to post more!

OK, I've been mulling this over each time I've seen it, even going as far as looking at my videos--what is CM?? Is that Cathe's?

Carolyn, C&W has a lot of step in it, with weights thrown in! I've only done TBT UB once, and never LB, so I can't help ya.

Rainy, dark day! But I love it! After CSS, I'll be starting lentil soup in the crockpot for dinner.

Marie, you are amazing what you've been working out to while pregnant! Hard stuff! btw, I'm done eating salads for lunch--it's not satisfying to me, and I get hungry very soon after.:eek: I also love my physical dvds, and am not keen on digital downloads. Call me old-fashioned.:confused:

Colleen, your workout plans are incredible! You've really given it some thought. But then you are always so thorough! Wish I live near you, or any of you gals, so we can lend our workouts to one another! Us Cathletes wouldn't keep them too long and neglect them!:eek:

Good Morning ladies! I have been trying to post all morning, but I keep getting interupted. So here it goes again.

I went to bed early last night. It felt so good to get my full 8 hrs. Lately I have only been getting 7. I need 8 hrs to function properly. :p

So, I got my morning cardio in and it felt awesome today!

This afternoon workout is Scott Abel Day#4. Looking forward to it.

My Horizontal Conditioning DVD's should be here today. I am waiting patiently!!! hahaha :)

Carolyn---I keep thinking about buying a bike for CM, but I think I may wait to see if Cathe does another Cycle DVD. If she does, I am sold!!!

When I was exercising, I thought, Duh! Core Max! And it's not even that!

I have Cycle Max but no bike. The idea of several days' worth of saddle sore in the beginning is daunting. When I ride bikes for leisure, I can't do it two days in a row due to that! Wuss.:eek: But wait! It's not like I would do CM daily! Hmm.....

CSS was fun and sooo sweaty. But I kept looking at the clock. I'm so tired of mountain climbers, burpees, spidermans, pushups! My knees doth protest from them!!! But at least there's a stretch at the end, which STS doesn't incorporate but separately.

It is so humid today! Woolly mammoth carpet again.:mad: Doesn't it seem some rainy days are more humid than others??

I sure could have slept on! With the rain beating and the darkness, it would be just blissful.

I like the idea of TB (toned legs and tush, etc), but there's hardly a sweat, never mind cardio!

I think I'd like to try the high step workout someday, now that I have extra risers. Have to buy it first!

Marie, I don't know how you do AB while pregnant. It slays me! High fives to you, kiddo!

Missy, I'm going to take a peek at Scott Abel. Yikes, he looks like a drill seargeant!

No Cathe/exercise next week (except walking)--I'll be in CA! Hubby has a business trip and we're all going! Even better: staying at my sis'.

Good Afternoon---I just received my Horizontal Conditioning DVD's. I am so excited. I can't wait to try them. :eek:

Afternoon ladies!

Jean- You're right about my workout choices. I realized with STS I really do enjoy the full body workouts alternated with cardio the best. I enjoy being able to hit everything at least a little bit, although I love to focus on lower body especially. That said, STS was definitely something I needed to finally focus on the upper body a little more. I'm really excited to do my little rotation I have planned and I think after that rest week I'm going to dive into another 31/2 month STS rotation with straight cardio. I was a little disappointed with my alternating STS with circuits idea since it seemed I wasn't getting the best of both types of training.:( I lost some of my STS strength but I wasn't necessarily gaining any additional fat loss benefits from the circuits and KB's by only doing them alternating weeks. I seemed to confuse my muscles and body a little too much! lol:p
I really hope everything is okay with your mom. Sending positive vibes your way!

Missy- which HC dvds did you get? I'm so excited to hear what you think! The volume 4 one, if you got it, is a little insane:eek:. I think I'm going to have to work on the other volumes and build my core strength before I try that one again. I was falling off the ball and losing my balance alot!:eek:

That sounds like a blast!:D Say, if any of you guys are dying to try a workout I have or something I could always mail you the dvd to try and you could mail it back to me after you tried it. I trust you guys would do the workout and send it back in a timely fashion!;) If you didn't want to do that but wanted to try out workouts before buying them maybe you guys could check out kinectflix.com. I haven't used it myself since I just prefer to buy and not mess around with a monthly club fee thing but people on VF are loving it. Carolyn- I do love that the daycare takes the kids on field trips. Often they don't charge anything or if they do it's maybe $3-5 max. The daycare we use is sort of expensive, though. I figure you get what you pay for:cool:. It does bite a little though...I read somewhere that Wisconsin is one of the most expensive states for daycare:confused:.

I read the best post on VF today. It's a little wordy but this lady talks about a blog post she read about "Why I lift weights". It was so great! I especially liked the first 5 reasons. Inspirational! :) Check it out: Why I Lift Weights - Video Fitness Forum

Carolyn---Scott Abel---it is a very good program, but he only sells downloads now. I bought the actual DVD's about a year ago. They are tough!!! But, yes they are expensive.

Hi Everyone,

After all that talk of CSS, I had to do it last night. I love it, but I its much harder for me to work out at the end of the day. That and the humidity, I was dripping. No time to squeeze in a workout today, I am in a training class at work and my husband is on a business trip this week so its extra hectic.

Jean, sorry to hear about your Mom, I hope she rebounds. I take my Mom back to the neurologist on Friday to get the results of all the tests she had. I hope he can tell us something.

Betty where in CA does your sister live? Both of my sisters live in San Diego, we were there in Sept. for my niece's wedding.

Colleen, that was a great post from the VF forum.

I am thinking of doing more full body workouts again, just to change it up. And I am so excited for the new workouts, but a scared at the same time. There's a new picture up and they have the blue band around their legs, and Cedie's ponytail is flying so they must be jumping with the band on. Yikes!

Did not catch up on all the posts but need to get some dinner. Have a good evening!
 
Thanks for all the compliments. You gals really know how to make someone feel good. I must say I am quite happy that I have been able to continue my working out; it makes me feel so much better. Tony and lots of the girls I work with say I make them nervous with working out but honestly I would never do it if I felt it wasn't safe or if the Dr said I shouldn't. Glad I have you guys for support!

Afterburn went well. Hoping for some DOMS tomorrow :)

Carolyn- Those Tshirts are insane. I couldn't imagine what type of parents would actually let their chidlren wear those. C&W is pretty dancy but I bet once you get the hang of it you would like it. It's an easier workout so fun for a break.

Betty- Have fun in CA!

Colleen and Missy- All this talk about Horizontial Training. I might have to look into it. Colleen- Are you serious about loaning out some of your DVD's because I will totally take you up on that offer!!!! That would RULE hardcore! I would for sure do it the same or next day I received it and then send it back immediately. Missy- I LOVE Skinny Cow products. I haven't had too many but I do love the ice cream sandwiches and the ones you were talking about :) YUM!

Jean- Sorry to hear about your mom. Hope she gets better soon! I'll check out that website and vote :)

Mary- CSS at the end of the day would be crazy! Of course even going for a walk is hard for me haha! I have never been one to workout after a long day.

UGH! Is it 11:30 yet?! After 5 days off this is the longest day EVER! And I have to be back here at 7am tomorrow too. How dare they schedule a pregnant chic like that?! Alright off to search the forums. Crossing my fingers that my patients stay in bed....at least until I punch out haha!

Good morning!

Last night I thought ahead to my day today and realized I would have no time for a workout again, so I got up at 5 and did kickbox from 4ds (after a cup of coffee of course). It was tough at first but now I feel great, ready to take on my day! I tell you, yesterday I had so many things going on and not able to work out, I was screaming at everyone and I really don't like it when I am like that (my kids would agree!). So today will be much better. Also, during training they bring in big plates of cookies and muffins to keep everyone awake with sugar, and they're hard to resist. Wish they would supply fruit!

Carolyn, those t-shirts are disgusting.

Marie, you are doing great with your workouts, keep it up. Your body will tell you when to slow down.

I got up this morning and did an hour on the elliptical. I feel great!!!

Mary---Good for you, getting up early to workout. It will pay off, you will feel good all day! I like my morning workouts for that reason. If I don't get them in, I drag my butt all day!

Jean---Have fun at your sisters this weekend. I will be thinking of you!

Marie---Did you make it this morning? I am sure you did, you are amazing!

Carolyn---I too, think the shirts with the saying are horrible. And I don;t even have children. I just think, when I was a child my parents would have not allowed me to wear that. It is all about respect for others, which most children do not have these days. :(

Have fun with CSS Carolyn!:D I'm so glad you got your money back from ebay! Thank goodness they made it right!

I did Lower Body Blast today: the standing premix with the leg conditioning drills. Usually I about die at the end of the standing portion where she does the static lunges with the barbell and peter out early on those but I made it through this time!:eek: When I got to the barre section at the end, the moves where you go up on your toes and do those thigh pulses I avoid (even flat footed those moves hurt my knees) so I subbed various firewalker moves after the leg lifts until she got to the cross over lunge part at the end. I was literally dripping with sweat!:eek: I was bent down over the bar of the tower doing the lifts and sweat was drip drip dripping off my face onto the mat:eek:. It sounds a wee bit yucky but I was actually tickled.:p

So I just had this patient this morning with a severe viral conjunctivitis which looked to be EKC. This poor kid. It's one nasty red eye and VERY contagious. I feel a little OCD right now...ever since they left I've wiped the equipment down 3 times with industrial strength antibacterial wipes and keep feeling the need to wash my hands again and again:eek:. Then we had the most annoying contact lens rep come in. I can't stand this guy. I come back from the restroom and there he is, talking to one of my patients about a contact lens solution that I don't recommend (and in particular had recommended something different for that patient specifically). I give him the old stink eye and he knew he screwed up. Lord, I hate sales people!:mad: (no offense to anyone in sales...)

Mary- virtual high five for getting up at 5 am to workout!:eek: I have managed to do that a few times but it is REALLY hard for me! I wish I could be consistent about getting up at that time so I wouldn't be rushing around so much in the morning and running late half the time:eek:. It's so nice with summer here...more time to workout and still sleep in a little.:p

Marie- I hear ya on craving cardio with the elliptical. I've been coveting Missy and Jean's ellipticals this whole time!;) It's is so nice, just once in awhile, to get a little cardio without thinking too hard. I used to use my treadmill a lot for that but it's been banished to the basement to make room for all my other stuff! Someday I will get an elliptical!!

Jean- I hope everything goes okay at your sister's and with your mom.

Whoa! Where did everybody go? No posts since 3 pm yesterday:confused:!

Today I have quite the DOMS from LBB!:eek: I think it was because I really pushed it through at the end there! I can't decide what to do today. Originally I was planning on a kettlebell workout, then I thought maybe another Horizontal Conditioning since the other ones I ordered came yesterday! I don't know though...I've pushed it pretty hard this week and I'm really feeling it so I may have to go with one of my Ellen Barretts. I probably won't decide until I actually go to pop one in the dvd player!

I got the few pounds I gaine doff and 1 extra. So excited!!!! I am loving mixing Scott and Cathe together. I feel so strong. I am really starting to see my arms pop. I was so excited last night about how my arms look, I was running around to house flexing. My husband, told me I looked great and he was scared of me!! hahaha :D

Anyways, I am at work. I will check back soon. :eek:
 
Yesterday was mobbed for me! Had my son's piano recital in evening. Phew, another thing finished! Last half day of school today.

I did LICh today and not much has changed since months ago when I did it--I am completely lost after the warmup and first routine!:mad: I don't have time today to rewind ad infinitum until I get it! I still sweat madly but I can't seem to learn it. Too many darn turns!:mad: I will pick it up right after CA.

Carolyn, congrats to Dylan and her hula hoop talent! I was so nervous at the recital too. Great you got your money back!

My sister lives near the Facebook gazillionaire Mark Z!:D We're leaving tomorrow and I'm not even close to packing yet! Yikes!

Getting up at 5 am to work out?? Sigh, if I ever get a job, that's what I'd have to do. I'm a HUGE sleepyhead that early!

I have to say that I'm all right when I don't work out. Must be that you gals are addicted to the exercise endorphins!:):eek:

Is it 5' oclock yet? I will be so happy when I can go home today. This has been a week from hell at work. The patients are coming out of the woods!!!! :D Just crazy busy!!!

Tonight, we are having new york strip steaks on the grill, fresh yellow squash from the garden, low fat cottage cheese, and rice! Sounds Delish!!! Looking forward to it! I also love to grill. I would rather grill a piece of meat at home than go out! Much healthier!

So today's workout was.....(imagine drumroll here:p)

Ellen Barrett's Power Fusion!
I realized that I pushed it pretty hard this week and needed that kind of stretchy feel good workout. It was great! Ellen is totally my Zen master!:D She does do that thing I hate which is talk about "bulking" and doesn't believe in heavy weight lifting for women:rolleyes:. I try to ignore that aspect. Not everyone is so enlightened about weight lifting! She is very fluid in her movements though and is a very inspiring, sweet instructor to workout to. I find I actually prefer her stuff over yoga these days. So many yoga dvds move so slow I feel antsy doing them...which I'm sure isn't the point of yoga! lol I actually posted on VF about the workout today and how it dawned on me toward the end of the video that Cathe and Ellen are the perfect yin and yang for me. I do find I reach for Cathe 95% of the time and Ellen more like 5% though:eek:;).

Have fun at your bachelorette party Marie! I went to Canterbury park once. It was fun! Do you ever bet on the horses? I'm a terrible gambler...some would call me a jinx!:eek:

Jean- have fun with your recovery week! My parents always used to cook with charcoal when we were growing up. You can't beat the taste! We have a gas grill now and of course it's more convenient but it's just not the same!

Missy- Congrats on the ebay win! Have you tried any of the volumes yet? The Get Rolling dvd is easier than those, I've read. Plus there isn't any music in the clip which I thought was odd. It does have shorter (like 25 minutes I think?) segments which would make it great to use as an add on to other workouts if you wanted to do that.

Carolyn- congrats to your son for winning the game!:D I wound up getting the volumes 1-4 of HC as well as the bootcamp. I think I'm going to concentrate on vol 1-3 first and conquer those before trying vol 4 again...and the bootcamp looks super tough too!:eek:

I wonder if we will get the new Cathe's before June is up? I would LOVE to be able and do them before I leave for Disney!!:eek:
 
Well...today is taking forever. It is atleast afternoon.

Jean---Thanks. I do have long hair. My hari is naturally red. I have highlights in it. It looks really pretty when I wear it down. It normally is up in a pony tail, because when I am not at work, I am normally in exercise clothes and working out or getting ready too.

I do stuggle keeping it up while workout out. Any advise or recommendations on scrunchies? They just seem to fall out when I am doing high intensity DVD's.

Carolyn---How did you like Drill Max? I am doing Drill Max tonight. I am looking forward to it. It always gives me an exercise high. And I always end up drenched!!!! Really funny, I am looking forward to getting my butt kicked!!! :eek:

Marie---Have fun at the races!

Colleen---I did about 20 minutes of Vol#1, after I had done 45 minues on the elliptical. It is tough!!! I too, hope we receive our Cathe DVD's this month. I am really excited! My husband too handles the grilling, we also have a gas grill.
