STS first time!

Jean---You are too sweet! You always say such nice things about me! Thanks.

I am a very happy person when I exercise. Exercise brings out the best in me! My husband gets a little scared when I don;t exercise...he says I turn crazy! I agree with him, is the funny thing. I think Carolyn said she is the same way????

Mary---I love those LIS workouts too! But, Bootcamp killed me last night. At the beginning, I was like okay...this is easy and then Cathe said "your all warmed up!" Then I knew I was in trouble. Because I thought these are challenging but I can do this for an hour. Needless to say, the intensity kept climbing untill I thought I was going to die. I loved it!!!!! I get so pumped up when doing high intensity style exercises! :D:p:) I think it is because I feel like I am physically fit to have completed the workout!!! We all should be very proud of ourselves for doing what we do!!!!

Okay, gotta run! BBL :D

We are at 200 pages girls!

Well, today I am off of work and sitting at home with just Dylan. Lydia stayed over at my sister's place to play with my niece and she's taking them swimming today. As usual on my days off I have hardly any time to sit at the computer! I have so many projects and housecleaning to get through. My house is embarassing it's so cluttered and messy right now! It took me an hour and a half to get through all the kids crap that they brought home from end of the school stuff...trying to figure out what stuff I should keep and what to throw. We also have these two huge corkboards where we tack up all their little drawings and projects from school which was totally overflowing! I had to go through all those things and organize that so it didn't look ridiculous. It's amazing how long it takes me to just get a little done!

I did manage to do Meso1 disc 2 (back and triceps). I'm planning on doing some cardio after I finish Dylan's lunch here so I'm still in my workout clothes:). I think I may bust out Breathless Body 2...yet another dvd of the many I've purchased lately! I just. can't. stop. buying. workouts!!! I did go about 6 months between September and February where I didn't buy any so that's my rationalization:eek:. I have to say, I'm enjoying Meso 1 more the second time than I did the first. I think maybe it's because I know what's coming? Plus it's nice to get back to endurance lifting. It felt like I was in Meso 2 for so long with the little pyramid thingy I've been doing!

Carolyn- I'm not sure what effect the Hydraplenish would have but I doubt it would be causing fluid accumulation where it shouldn't be. Usually when there's fluid in areas where it's not supposed to be it's because of inflammation. The hyalronic acid in Hydraplenish is just like the hyalronic acid that is normally present in our bodies and synovial fluid, it's just that our bodies make less of it as we get older and that's why we'll often feel the joints get more creaky. That's just an educated guess though so don't take it to the bank! I could be totally wrong about that.
Oh and Mark watches Pickers too! He loves all those shows and I totally don't get into them at all. I'm not a fan of the reality type shows...give me a good old serialized scripted drama or a sitcom anyday!

Congratulations on almost finishing STS Betty!

Wow Missy I'm amazed your ball lasted 10 years! Come to think of it, I think my ball is getting pretty old too! Hmmm, now that I think of it, it might be creeping up on 8 years maybe? I'm glad you liked Bootcamp!
I was thinking about whether or not I get cranky when I don't exercise and I realized it's not so much I get cranky is I get super anxious. It occurred to me after reading your post how much my anxiety level has come down in the past two years since I started working out! Maybe that's one reason I'm getting fewer migraines than before!

Jean I'm so proud of you for sticking with legs! Have you noticed any differences yet in strength or cosmetic wise?

Okay, gotta get Dylan his lunch! TTYL

Happy birthday tomorrow, Marie! Enjoy to the fullest!:)

Carolyn, hope you had a blast with your friend tonight! That is awesome about your daughter joining field hockey! High five!:D

Mary, our younger kids are in the same grade! My son's piano recital is next Thursday. It's so nice to listen to the kids play their pieces, and this is the only time of the year the players see or hear one another! Your daughters have indeed accomplished a lot.

My same son had his last track meet this afternoon--the all-city. I'm glad that's over so he can take his dog-walking job back. Guess who filled in for 2 months??

Colleen, you are too funny with your new workouts! None of us should feel guilty for buying fitness-related items. Celebrate it, girl!

I will continue to take a Hydraplenish daily because it seems to cushion my knees. I might even enjoy Drill Max again!

Missy, good to hear your voice again!

Jean, you're cruising through STS. I want to hit LIS next; I'm sure I will miss STS when it's a dim memory!:D Of course, I'm super excited about the new workouts too!

I don't watch Extreme Makeover anything, nor Pickers, but my guys like to watch Pawn Stars, which I absolutely loathe. The characters are sooo sleazy! (For some reason, I keep having a Freudian slip in my mind and call them porn stars!:D)

Sweet dreams, all!

Just a quick pop in to wish you a Happy Birthday Marie! Just think, next year this time you will be celebrating with your baby!

We don't get out of school until the 20th - seems late. I too am ready for this crazy schedule to end.

Arrrghh! I had this whole post typed out and then I pressed some button and lost it all!

Okay, let's try this again...hopefully I'll remember what I wrote!

Today was Cardio Supersets plus the bonus step premix. The kids have been out of school since Tuesday so I had time to do the whole thing plus the cool down/stretch. Love the laid back relaxed days of summer! I get so stressed out with running around and schedules...and my kids are even in that much yet!

Mary- I bet your excited to be done with all the running around! Do your kids do stuff during the summer too? I was thinking about signing the kids up to try karate but I may wait a few weeks and enjoy the downtime:cool:. In July they'll be doing swimming lessons which they always enjoy...and of course in a few weeks we go to Disney!! Yay!

Carolyn- I totally agree with you on the t-shirts and what not being so appalling. I'll never forget this one time Mark and I saw this young girl wearing these tight sweatpants and across the butt it said "you wish". Ugh. I'm not a prude either and Mark certainly isn't (I always tease him by calling him a dirty old man! lol) but even he was like "What the...what is she like thirteen...tops?" That stuff totally stresses him out now that he has a daughter!!;)

Jean- I'm so glad your mother is doing better! That's amazing how fast she's recovering at her age. Impressive! :)

Marie- Happy Birthday girl! Enjoy your day! You're so brave to do real camping while pregnant. I'm a total wussie when it comes to tent camping:eek:. Give me a cabin or I'm staying home! lol

Betty- that's so sweet of you to walk the dogs for your son! Pawn stars is another show that Mark loves that makes me leave the room:rolleyes:. He also loves that one where they repo the cars. I forget what it's called. I'm like, these people are awful! He finds it pretty enertaining though!

Oh, and have you guys noticed some of the threads on OD getting a little testy? I just had to comment on the one Janie-joey started... I couldn't help myself. I really feel people get way too serious, cranky and/or melodramatic sometimes!

Have a great day ladies!!

Marie---Happy Birthday!!!!

I have been so busy today...no time to chat.

I will be back later.....

But, one question-----

Carolyn---what brand running shoe do you wear? I am in the need of a new pair and was curious since you run also. I have been wearing Mizuno's!

Thanks to Colleen----The only time I wear my shoes are when running. I workout barefoot all the time now!!!! If I have my shoes on I end up taking them off before the warm up is over!!! hahaha :)

BBL!!

Marie, sounds like a great day for you!

Carolyn, how's the knee feeling with the anti-inflammatory? I cringed when I read those t-shirt comments. And your stories too, Jean, Marie, and Colleen. It starts so young!

Colleen, can't believe school is out already, and Mary, I'm surprised it's 3 days later for you than us. Were there snow days for you? None for us. I usually look forward to no alarm clocks too. For about a week. Then reality hits. They're home ALL day long. Three meals a day x7 days!:D It's so distracting when I try to work out. Then there's nagging the teenager not to sleep the day away! My kids hardly play outdoors, especially when it's hot and humid (nor I, for that matter)! Yikes!

Jean, that's remarkable how well your mum is doing! Have a nice visit. I had to walk the dog 4 days a week.

As for Pawn Stars, we'll agree to disagree! I really love antiques and collectibles too. I would love to be an expert of old furniture or jewelry at an auction house! Does anyone remember this tv show called At the Auction on ?TLC many years ago. The woman hosting it, as well as the show, were great! It was a really cleverly done program.

Good Morning and happy friday!!!

I am at work and very busy but wanted to pop in!!!

Last night I did Day#1 of Scott Abel training in the dungeon series. He always kicks my butt! I have not done this workout since before I lost weight. And, let me say it felt awesome. I was so proud of myself for finishing strong. My legs were shaking, I was exhausted! I knew for sure I would not be able to get out of bed this morning. But, I did, and feel awesome! I have lower body DOMS and am loving it!!!

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

BBL!!! :D

Happy Friday!

I was going to do Afterburn this morning but decided to do Boot Camp instead. Wow, that was alot tougher than the Fit TV version I used to have. And my daughter called in the middle of it because she forgot something she needed for school (argh, I hate to be interrupted during a workout!). Anyway, a great workout, and I will have to do something low impact tomorrow.

We only had 2 snow days this year from that freaky storm we had in Oct., but we start after labor day so that's probably why we get out so late. Good thing we had a mild winter or we'd be going into July.

I don't have too much planned for my kids for the summer. I don't send them away to camp and its hard to find things for them to do as they get older. And I don't mind the down time either.

I agree, those t-shirts are totally inappropriate. Wait until your daughters get to middle and high school, it really is awful what some of the girls wear. And my 12 yr olds take gymnastics at a place that does an end of year show, and I cringe at some of the routines they have the girls doing. I mean, does anyone listen to the lyrics of the songs they choose? And they have little girls out strutting their bodies? Awful.

Carolyn, I hope you get some relief on that knee.

Colleen I did notice that thread getting testy. Agreed, some people take comments way too seriously.

Jean, glad your Mom is doing better.

Betty, I expect you are finishing STS today. Congratulations! I felt a little lost when I finished but now I am enjoying all the workouts I ignored. So many to do!

And Missy, glad you are feeling better. How strange about those BC pills.

Ok, have a great day!

Good day, all! After early-morning fog, it is sunny and gorgeous presently.

Great memory, Mary! I completed STS with sh, bi, tris. Yahoo!:) Those 8 reps were tough, on all the exercises! And I topped it off with a grand finale, Extended Stretch. Felt great! (I wish Cathe had done an Ext Stretch for each mesocycle. Oh well.)

Our schools start after labor day too, and we didn't get hit hard by that October storm.

Should I allow a rest week with no weights next week, just cardio? I agree that I'll enjoy doing all my other workouts. Must get to know them a bit more before the new ones are released!

Carolyn, keep stretching. While you're recuperating you can do all the yoga-type workouts you never had time for.

Have a great day and weekend!

Hello girls!

Well, this morning I was planning on doing disc 3 legs but I wasn't feeling well. I had terrible insomnia last night and couldn't fall asleep until after midnight. I had an upset stomach and just generally felt a little off and it continued through most of today...although I'm feeling a little bit better right now. I have a feeling Lydia might have brought a little virus home since she was saying this morning that her tummy was a little upset too. I'm so bummed! I especially hate it when my STS week gets messed up because I feel like I just have to get those STS discs in before the week is up to keep on track! :( I'm not sure if I'll be able to squeeze it in tonight or tomorrow either. I guess I'll just have to play it by ear.

Congratulations on finishing STS Betty! Is your son still keeping up with it? What does he think so far?

Mary- don't ya hate it when the phone rings while your working out? On Wednesday it rang and it was a telemarketer! ARGH! I'm even on that no-call list and some of them still slip by! Sometimes on my days off Mark will call just to shoot the breeze and I swear he's psychic and waits until I'm in the middle of a workout. I hate to not answer it and have it be something important. So I'll pick it up and he'll be all "watcha doin?"

Carolyn I would do the same thing with the MRI if I were you! You need answers and their just holding off! I would definitely wait on running until you know more. Maybe you could do sort of a power walk? Do you have a weighted vest? If it feels okay maybe you could try that and wear the vest. You could get in a little cardio and then you could still get outside in the fresh air.

Have a great afternoon everybody!

T-storms right now. Dark skies on one side, bright skies on another.

Colleen, it's you and me, kid. My son just finished week 3, thanks for asking! He doesn't say much, as a general rule, but I think he knows this program is great. He's done a random Cathe (weightlifting) here and there over the years, like Supersets. I keep telling him that when you're young, the muscles chisel fast, so take advantage!:D

I hope you bounce back quickly from your 'bug'. I believe that we do, since our exercise endorphins are our armor and shield.

Did I notice a little dimple on Dylan's face? Too adorable.

That's a funny story on Mark calling during your workouts:D, and a great idea for Carolyn on power-walking with a vest.

Oh, hi Marie! Decaf is great. I pretty much only drink decaf when possible. I felt the same way about my hair, so I just cut it yesterday! Ditto on the curling iron! That thing hasn't seen the light of day in eons! Wow, you saw a lot of movies! Have a great time at the wedding!

Morning ladies!

I feel a bit better today. :) I need to do the STS disc but since it's a Saturday Mark is sleeping in so I can't get into the bedroom. I'll have to work out here in the living room. I think I'm going to try one of the new Horizontal conditioning dvds I got since it requires me to drag out less equipment. Gotta get revved up with my coffee first!

Have fun at your wedding today Marie! I had to go to my sister's wedding pregnant. It's rough trying to find fancy-ish clothes when your prego! Of course we had to have family pictures too so there I am, all beach ball and plump faced!

Betty- I know what you mean by the muscles responding faster when your young! I sooo wish I had discovered the power of weightlifting in my twenties! It would have been so cool to know the possibilities of my figure back then considering how I look and feel now being almost 40 after 2 pregnancies! I wonder if I would have been able to achieve that 6 pack look? I know I shouldn't think about stuff I can't change though! I really hope I can influence my kids with healthy behaviors like working out:D. The other day Mark did a few pull ups on my Turbo tower and I was like ooooh honey! So sexy! I'm hoping I can encourage him to work out more that way!;)
Yep, Dylan has a little dimple!:p

Better get a wiggle on! Have a great morning everyone!

Good Morning!

Colleen---I am glad you are feeling better! Those bugs are nasty!!! The plus side is that you are healthy and fit so you bounce back quick!! I too wish my husband would workout, but I just can't get him to get up off the couch afterwork!!

Marie--Have fun at the wedding! I feel ya with the hair. I too have long straight hair, and my hairstyle is pulled back in a ponytail!!! So, funny!

I still have DOMS today!!! My lowerbody is shredded, so sore!

Off to workout!!! BBL!!!

Good morning!

Looks like we will have a gorgeous day here! My shoulders are a little sore this morning from Boot Camp yesterday, so I decided to do Buts & Guts. Yowza! I could not make it through all of the floor work, my legs just gave out. And the DOMS are starting already, I hope I can walk later. I don't know how Cathe does it.

After I did boot camp yesterday I was looking through her rotations to see the kind of workouts she did the day after boot camp. In one rotation she had boot camp twice in the same day, doing one right after the other. Crazy woman!

Colleen, glad you are feeling better, and I hope the rest of your family stays healthy too. I think Horizontal conditioning is a funny name for a workout.

We have the last basketball tournament this weekend, but it means spending both afternoons in Boston indoors. Oh well.

Have a great day everyone!

Yay Burn and Build! :D I'm planning on doing that one tomorrow! ITA about cardio with weights. I love it! It totally rocks as a way to get your heartrate way up and all sweaty without tons and tons of high impact. That's so funny you guys teasing about Horizontal Conditioning:p! It totally sounds dirty, no? Hehehehe Okay, I swear I'm not trying to enable but here's the link so you guys know what I'm talking about...Total Fitness DVDs - Your Total Source for Fitness I bought Volume 2 and 4 and did #2 today. It's all about planks and core work with a little lower body and cardio sprinkled in. Did I mention a lot of plank work??? When I previewed the discs they didn't look nearly as hard as it actually was! Lordy! I had to follow the modifier, take breaks (which pretty much involved falling to the floor!) and my lower back was screaming trying to hold the plank stuff for so long! No injury as I feel fine now but holy crap! I didn't really expect to sweat but there it was, dripping down my forehead.

Carolyn- I sure hope everything okay with that lady. That is very odd if she was getting positive reviews for everything else and yet is not responding to your emails. Okay, I'm going to share a story which may sound really depressing and morbid but reading that reminded me of it and it so freaked me out when it happened. This was several years ago now. I had seen this one contact lens patient for an eye exam. He was super nice, young and charming. I had him scheduled for his follow up in one week to check the contacts. Well, the follow up appointment came and he no showed. I thought, that's weird, he didn't strike me as the type to just no show. Well, a day or so later we found out he had died in a car accident the day before the appointment. It was so chilling. It really makes you realize how quickly life can change...just in an instant. I try to remember that now and appreciate every moment, every second. :)

Okay...on that upbeat note I have to get going! TTYL girls!

Good Evening ladies!!!!

Okay, so I went to Zumba this morning since my favorite insutructor was here. She comes to my town every other saturday. So, I enjoy going to her class. She always gives us a killer workout!!! I am always drenched in sweat after the hour!!!

I am still extremely sore from Disc#1 (scott abel) Tonight I am doing Disc#2 (scott abel). Looking forward to it!!!

Carolyn---I am glad your knee is feeling a little better!

Colleen----OMG!! :p:D:)
Horizontal Conditioning - Sandra Koulourides ----Now I want them all!!!! They look awesome!!! Thanks, now I need to spend some money!!!!

I have been very busy today, my horse has hurt here foot, so I have been nursing her. She seems to be doing a little better, but in alot of pain. SO, every few hours I go to the barn. Give med, rub green jelly(absorbine) on joints. Just trying to help her feel better.

Off to workout...BBL!!!! :p

Hey ladies,

Great long posts to read! Yay, I love it when there's lots!

Colleen, that's really sobering and so sad about your patient.:( Reminds you to live life to the fullest, right?

My practically-19-yr-old is the one doing STS. He's home for the summer. I literally came up with the idea after he came home. I thought it ingenious!:D Thank goodness he's trying it! (Both of my kids don't want to move much! The electronics are too huge a draw! Keep your kids away!)

Missy, the 2009 dvd version of Zumba is so much fun. Remember when they showed the Big L contestants going to the Zumba class? It looked pretty dull in there! Your class sounds motivating. I've never seen a live one.

Hmm, Scott Abel, Horizontal Conditioning, etc! Stop it! I want to get B&B but I'll wait a while, till after I'm at least familiar with Cathe's dvds again! Not to mention the new ones!

Carolyn, the anti-inflammatory has already kicked in! That was quite a story about your husband (I thought you were going to say he was fibbing, plus I'd be hurt too) and the dvd lady!

I feel the same about the unsightly bulges. It must be because I don't eat clean. I have lost weight over last year, so I don't get it. So I reason that I work out hard and I shouldn't sabotage by eating poorly, but then, on the other hand, you only live once--I want to enjoy my sweets! You know, picture: one good me with halo on my shoulder, one bad me with pitchfork on the other shoulder, constantly bickering.

It's amazing you guys can describe Cathe's workouts to a T. I guess I don't exercise often enough:eek:! I didn't even know of the existence of the 4DS double cardio. Must look into it. I've always found Higher Intensity Step in that workout waaay too dancy for me, and I usually give up in frustration before I complete it. OMG, I just realized I could try it on Monday!

Marie, Fage is delish. I was buying it at Costco until they stopped carrying it. Now I just get the Trader Joe's one. For some reason, even though I cut out dairy for a while, I stuck with greek yogurt because of the protein content. I am now back using milk for my cafe mocha. All those milk subs just don't have protein. Waaah! Soy is too estrogenic for me to drink daily.

A dimple on their chins and cheeks?! How can I get one?? They're irresistible.

Anyone use pinterest? What's it all about? Not that I need another online time hog.

Happy rest of weekend!

Good Evening once again....I finished my workout and I am fatigued to the max!!!

Betty---I have taken many zumba classes over the last 5 years. I only enjoy the ones that are high intensity. Alot of the "newer" zumba instructors are just.....not very motivating, overwweight, and doesn't know what high intensity is. So, when my "Nicole" comes to town I always go to her class. I just adore her style!!! I did try the DVD's several years ago, and I didn't really like them because you are all alone and Zumba is much more fun in a group setting. I just love my Cathe workouts though. Since I have been working out with Cathe, I can tell a huge difference in my cardio/ strength output in my workouts! I amaze myself sometimes....than I reliaze I have Cathe to thank!!!! And also, all my friends here on the forum. You girls keep me motivated. Thanks!!!!!!! :)

Okay, off to bed......Chat tomorrow. Good night!
