STS first time!

Good Evening ladies! So nice to see everyone back home and posting again. I had a crazy day! The first day back from a holiday in a dr office!! Oh my!

I did start the bc on sunday. I really hope it helps me in the upcoming months. Will keep you updated!!

I also, was not feeling 100% tonight, so I just walked at a fast pace on the treadmill. Maybe tomorrow I will feel better and do some hardcore Cathe!!!

Carolyn---I am hope your knee feels better! Rest...is the key!!!!

Okay, off to lay down. The cramps are killing me tonight!!! Gotta rest so I can hit it hard tomorrow!

Good night! :)

Hey all! I'm back! We had an amazing time. We actually ended up staying in a cute little cabin in Grand Portage...close to the Canadian border. Nice wood burning fireplace inside :) It rained every night but we did manage to get in campfires each night. We also hiked a lot.....a couple lengthy, strenuous ones too which was nice. Saw lots of waterfalls and raging rivers. So much rain lately. The last night we stayed at Jaye Cooke state park in Duluth in a little cabin at the campgrounds. Very fun. Today was back at it with work. That was not fun! So hard to get back in the routine after a nice get away. I have tomorrow off so hoping to get a workout in. Luckily we were super active this weekend so I'm not feeling too guilty about the s'mores I had every night haha! Looks like everyone had a good weekend!

Here's our son :) Isn't he cute?! ;) I have been feeling lots of movement lately. Unfortunately just quickening so nothing that Tony can feel yet but soon enough hopefully. Can't wait :)

Good Morning! I am so busy at work...just wanted to pop in and say hello. I am feeling a little better at the moment, thanks to advil.

Carolyn---I hope your knee is okay! Better get it checked just in case.

Marie---too cute! I bet you and your husband can't quit looking at the pic. Make sure you take lots of photos of your belly, so you can either scrapbook them or put in a photo album. I love looking back at pictures, that is what got me into scrapbooking.

Okay, I hope everyone has a lovely day. I gotta go.

Busy, Busy, Busy!!!!! BBL!!! :D

Marie----Do you have the option to have a 3D ultrasound done? We have that technology down here and it is so cool. Just curious?

Hello ladies!

Today I did Athletic Training. :D It's funny because I just realized today that for the past several months I've been choosing the leg cardio express premix on that one. I haven't done the whole workout since probably December. I forgot how good the upper body was in that one and the fact that there is even core work at the end! Good stuff! I like how well rounded that workout is. I really need to do the whole thing more often!

Grandma is back home again. It's such a tough balance between her need for the coumadin (to prevent stroke, she's had several mini ones) and the GI bleeding from the diverticulosis. I'm not sure they knew what they were going to do exactly if the bleeding hadn't stopped. Hopefully it'll be okay for awhile at least.

Carolyn- I think it would be a good idea to have the doctor evaluate the knee, especially if this has happened before. Did they do an MRI when you went in before? That's what they did for me when they diagnosed the chondromalacia. It's good to rule out something even more serious like a torn meniscus or something. Do you ever use a knee brace when you workout? I often do, although I guess it's fairly controversial whether or not they actually prevent further injury. I just know it feels better sometimes to wear it. I have this one that supposedly helps keep the patella tracking properly and it's fairly open so it doesn't get really hot. Sometimes you have to try out different doctors if the one you had last time didn't seem to know what he/she was doing. It's amazing how useless some of them can be!

Betty- I feel for you working out in humidity! That's the worst! I did Afterburn on Saturday and Mark wouldn't turn on the AC. Trying to suck wind when the wind in question is heavy and wet is NOT good! I just didn't feel like I could get enough oxygen in my lungs!:( I'm so glad to hear your son is enjoying STS! That's so great! I really hope I can get my kids to enjoy and like working out when they get older. As of now, of course, that constant kid energy is keeping them fit!

Marie- love the ultrasound picture! When we had the one done with Dylan you could see him sucking his thumb! Unfortuntely, that's a habit I still catch him doing to this day! This morning, I went to wake him up and my big 7 year old kid was sleeping with his thumb in his mouth!

Jean- I'm so glad your shoulder, neck and back are still doing okay! I feel like I lost strength too, even though I've been doing STS every other week. I just don't feel like I can lift as heavy as I did when I stopped Meso 3 since I do lighter weights on my circuit weeks. I also notice a difference when I'm not drinking my protein shakes or eating too many carbs versus protein. It's crazy how hard I have to work to be strong! My arms still look okay, though, so I'm trying not to sweat it too much. I'll just have to keep working within my ability I guess!

Whew, this post got long! Better get something useful done!

I swear, whenever I get away for a relaxing break, its always worse when I get back. I have had no time to workout lately, not even going to my work gym at lunch. So tonight I was in the mood for CSS, but had to do one of the premixes because I was so crunched for time. But I did 30 minutes, so then I felt much better. It is so hard to explain to people that one of the reasons I exercise is to give me energy.

We are making up all of the softball games we missed due to rain, so a game tonight, another tomorrow, another Sat., and a double header on Sunday. I don't really like watching softball that much, it is so slow. Anyway, that is on top of basketball and soccer and the end of year activities that are starting up. I can't wait for it all to end!

Carolyn, do be careful with that knee. Isn't insurance awful? When I had that fainting episode a while back, I was thinking about insurance while riding in the ambulance. It should not be that way, we should get the care we need! And have a nice evening with your hubby!

Betty, I feel the humidity too, my hair just goes poof! And the sweat has nowhere to go! We only have air conditioners to put in the windows, and its so early we haven't done it yet. Oh, and my sisters both live in Southern CA - a nice place to go on vacation. I like Northern CA too.

Missy, hope the bc pills are hellping!

Colleen, glad to hear Grandma is better. I plan to do Athletic Training on Friday. I loved STS but am happy to get back to some of my other workouts, and I am loosely following the LIS rotation this month.

Marie, your camping trip sounds perfect, and your baby is so cute!

Carolyn- Hope your knee feels better soon. Darn insurance....such a joke isn't it?! Colleen- Glad Grandma is back home :) That is so cute about the ultrasound with Dylan. My friend just had one taken that looks like the baby is sucking his thumb...so cute! Missy- Glad you are feeling better even if it just is the Advil. I can do a 3D ultrasound but it's 150 dollars....stupid insurance. Would love too but I would rather spend my money on baby stuff. Betty- Glad we haven't had the humidity here yet in MN. I know it's coming though. Dreading it! Jean- My next appt isn until June 21.....so far away! Mary- Good luck with all the games. Sounds like you're keeping busy! We registered at Target today. Just some basics. Have to do more research on the bigger items still. And....Tony felt the baby move last night. That was really cool :)

Hi! I'm here!:D

I can't write much as I've got to run right now. I just wanted to say Carolyn that I plan to do Butts and Guts when I'm 85!:p Seriously, anyone at any age can suffer injuries from working out (or just living life really!). I will admit (grudgingly) that it does take longer to recover from injuries when we're 40 versus 20. It is so important to watch form and exercise safely, too. I learned that stuff from PT...watching my form with lunges and squats and being careful not to let the knee bow inward. Knee alignment is SO critical, it's crazy! I also have to watch the amount and kind of high impact I do these days...I refuse to say it's because of age! okay, maybe it's a little bit because of age...

I'm so glad your mood is uplifted after working out today! Exercise is prozac baby!:D Okay, gotta go. BBL!!

Speaking of working out making you feel great, I need to remember that. I haven't worked out in a week (yes a week, I'm embarrassed to admit and can't remember the last time it's been that long) besides the hiking I did this past weekend, which I really don't count. Anyways, I've been extra tired and my diet has been rotten lately. I know I'm cooking a baby but this tiredness is out of control. I napped for 3 hours after work the other day. I know it's related to my not working out. Almost off work for the day and meeting a friend for dinner and a movie tonight, not to mention we all know I never work out after work. So, mark these words...I WILL WORKOUT TOMORROW! I work PM shift Fri Sat and Sun and am off Mon and Tue so my plan is to do 4DS the next 4 days.

That's it for now. Off to give report to the next shift.

Marie

I'm back!:D
I'm really just procrastinating...I have quite a few referall letters I need to write and they are just staring at me right now. Not to mention optometry journals I should be reading while I'm waiting on the next patient. Doot dee doo, hmmm what should I do...I know I'll post on the forums!

Today's workout was Kettlebell Kickboxing again. There are 4 workouts in that series and I've totally loved them all. Not to be enabling or anything ;). I think tomorrow I may pull out Jillian's 6 week 6 pack. Fridays I have hardly any time in the morning and will often take a second rest day but that 30 minute time frame will be doable I think. After that recover/yoga last week I feel the need to hit it hard this week! Then Saturday I want to do Drill Max! Lydia has her dance recital Saturday night. It should be interesting! I have to take her to my sister (who's a hairdresser) to do the old ballet bun/up do thingy. I'm a disaster at hair styling and Lydia has the most sensitive scalp of anyone I've ever met! Should be interesting!

Marie- that's so awesome Tony got to feel the baby move! My kiddos would inevitably stop kicking the second Mark came around to feel my belly! Don't worry about the fatigue too much. Sleep is good! Indulge! It is true how much energy working out can give you though. Like Mary said, it's so hard to explain that to people who don't work out! It's like a positive feedback loop or something!

Betty- that's so funny how you were saying you're looking for dresses. I just bought 3 dresses the other day and I haven't bought one dress in about 6 years! I never normally wear dresses...I mean NEVER. I usually despise how I look in them. Every time I try one on, normally, it looks like hell (pardon my french!). I happened to find some really cute ones at JCPenny of all places. They fit my body really well, which is quite the feat for me even when I'm fit. My proportions are just whacky I guess! I did nearly break down in tears in the dressing room when I caught sight of my ugly spider veins, though.:( The lighting in there really made them stand out and they were the worst shade of purple. It was awful!

Mary- you sound so busy with all that sporting event stuff! Yikes! Makes me tired just thinking about all that running!

Better do something useful here...;)Later girls!

Good Morning!

I did Athletic Training this morning - I really needed that! Great cardio and all over body conditioning. Had a little trouble with all those quick pushups but just went to my knees. I managed to get a yoga class in yesterday, and the stretching felt great, but there's nothing like a sweaty cardio session to get rid of some stress.

Carolyn, did you call the dr. about that knee? Your daughter sounds really cute in her Cathe outfit, can just imagine how she looked!

Jean, my daughter finished her driver's ed class and has her road test scheduled for June 16th. I told her though that just because she has her license doesn't mean she can go out in the car whenever/wherever she wants. She still makes me nervous when she drives in alot of traffic and needs much more experience! Plus all these kids just drive too fast.

Ok, gotta run, have to take my Mom in for an EEG this morning and an MRI later this afternoon. Probably won't get any results today but good to get things moving along. Have a great day everyone!

Hello ladies!

I did manage to get Jillian's 6 wk 6 pk in today. I was a little unsure this morning if I was going to work it in. I was sooo tired this morning! Mark and I found a new show we're binging on dvd and it's hard not to stay up too late! I kept hearing how good the Game of Thrones was so I went out and bought the first season. It is really good but lots of violence and sex...not for the faint of heart and probably not for everybody! Also, we can't start watching it until the kids are fast asleep so we've been staying up way too late this week. I still really like it though because I love all that fantasy stuff. I was obsessed with the Lord of the Rings when it came out:eek:. Yup, nerd girl pops her head up again!

Jean- I love that picture of the kids I have on VF. I thought they looked so funny upside down like that!:D The two workouts from Jillian that I really like and still do are 6 wk 6 pk and her Banish Fat Boost Metabolism. They are both really great! I did sort of like her No More Trouble Zones but it's a tad easy for me now. I gave it to my sister as I feel it's a really good one if you aren't in the best shape to start out with. BTW, I finally got Travel Fit back from her! Yay! It's so tough because I really want people I know to discover Cathe and really get into it like me, but whenever I borrow out a Cathe workout I get all anxious and can't stand it. I think even if she had actually been using it I still would have been antsy to get it back. I guess Cathe will just have to remain my little secret!;)

Carolyn- how's your knee feeling? Do you have Cathe's MMA Boxing? You probably would have to skip the leg conditioning drills but the boxing moves are pretty good at getting the heart rate up with just upper body. It's not AB or anything but at least it would be some cardio. Kettlebells are also good for cardio, but you'd have to buy a much heavier one. Kettlebell swings with a fairly heavy one (like my 25#) really get the heart rate up and you aren't moving your legs at all. It's important to get the form of the swing down though...checking out you tube clips of perfect form would be helpful. If you can, of course, it's best to get a trainer who knows what they are doing with KB to watch you. I just learned from videos, though and have never had a problem other than when I tried to do them with STS. Your daughter sounds so cute! Mine is a total drama queen, too!

Mary- your daughter starting driving...I'm so scared when my kids start! I was a terrible driver when I was younger. Actually, I still can't parallel park to save my life!

Have a great Friday everyone!

Good Afternoon ladies! Yes, I have been MIA. I have been extremely busy at work, but I have also been sick. I feel like my head is going to expload. I have a massive headache, sinus drainage, sore throat, nasal congestion. And, did I say a massive headache. I am at work, but I am struggling concentrating.

I have been walking on the treadmill in the mornings, but by end of the day I am so drained I can barely stay awake. I am dieing without all my exercise!!!! I think that is making me worse. I just wish I would feel better so I can get back to my hardcore exercise which I love.

I went to publix today to get some Allegra-D----and of course I had to stand in line for 20 minutes so I could give them my ID and sign for the damn pills. That makes me more mad, than having to take the pills. What is this world coming to?

I am now, back at work hoping 5'oclock comes soon. I hope these pills help my head???????

I will try to feel better so I can get back to my friends!!!! I hope you all are feeling okay!!!!!

Gotta run! Chat soon! :)

Well, up late watching Game of Thrones. Just popping in quick to say hi! Boy, can't think of much else to write though... Have a good night ladies! Hope your shift is going well Marie!:)

Carolyn- do you think it could have been the meniscus that got damaged? Have you tried googling your symptoms? I love google. I like to call it google-fu. I can learn a lot about some of my issues with it!

Today I did Drill Max leg/cardio premix! Love it! During the firewalker section I started to think about the firewalker tabata Cathe talked about in the new workouts. I can't wait to see what that'll involve! I LOVE firewalkers!

Okay, better get a wiggle on!:p Gotta get Lydia to my sister for the old updo!

Thanks Carolyn! It was pretty scary. My husband said I was out cold for like 30 sec. I have only told my sister and a girlfriend. Most of family and friends would freak out at the story so I didn't want to scare them.

Football and hockey- those were the ones I was talking about! Afraid of them. I'm sure everything will be fine but I feel ya. Not into them! I love your idea of offering them choices :) I will be taking that tip!

Your dinner sounds so tasty! I just finished some pretzels and hummus and now I want more...glad I didn't bring more.

Gonna go post some more on the forums. Am I a Cathlete yet or what?!

Hellooo!
It's pretty late but the recital went until 8:00 and then we went out for dinner at Olive Garden aftwards. She was so cute! Getting her hair up in the bun wasn't too bad, either. I had her watch SpongeBob on my blackberry while my sister did it and she didn't yelp, whine or cry the whole time! I've found the trick!:D Here's a few pics. Grandma (Mark's grandma) and his cousin Katie came and so did my mom.

Hopefully that worked! As far as sports, Marie I gotta say...so far Dylan isn't so crazy about sports. I actually wish he was more interested. We had him do soccer and it was like pulling teeth to get him to go. He just isn't the most aggressive or athletic kid. We're hoping he'll have a change of heart about sports as he gets older! I would definitely most likely steer the conversation away from hockey and football, though! Worried mama:eek:. We're thinking about trying him with karate this summer but he's not so thrilled about the prospect yet...

Cathe has video clips up of the new workouts??? Off to go try and find them!

Marie I forgot to write about your fainting spell. That must've been so scary! Thank goodness everything was okay! I always hated having to sleep on my side when I was pregnant as I was always a back sleeper. Then I got so used to it I find myself often sleeping on my side even though I used to hate it! Weird!

I'm hoping to start STS Meso 1 today. Push ups!!!
