Hey girlies!
Today was a rest day for me. I have re-affirmed the fact that I should avoid kneeling exercises whenever possible. I hadn't done this particular pilates dvd in probably 2 years so I forgot what it all involved. As I was doing it I realized it had lots floorwork done while kneeling. The idiot that I am, I thought "oh, I'll just do it, I've got the cushioning from this mat...maybe it'll be fine..." Well, no.
Not only do I have chondromalacia but I realize now I also get prepatellar bursitis (otherwise known as housemaids knee) when I do anything involving being on my knees. My knees were slightly puffy on top of my kneecaps yesterday and somewhat sore. They seem better today but I'm just going to take it easy. Sigh. No fair.
Now I'm not sure what I'm going to do tomorrow...I was planning on trying High Step Challenge for the first time (got it in a trade months ago), but now I might opt for something more low impact...
As far as protein shakes, I do drink them. For awhile I would have them as my breakfast and drink half before my workout and the other half afterwards. I actually have slacked off on that lately and I feel like I can tell a difference. It really helps with preserving and building muscle and keeping you lean. I do use whey protein but I've used all different kinds. Now lately I've been trying out products that are unflavored so as to avoid artificial sweeteners and the like. I haven't quite settled on a favorite yet though. I did find a really cool plant protein powder on Swanson's that I've been using in addition to whey and it's super natural and healthy. Here's the link if anyone's interested:
https://www.swansonvitamins.com/LFT009/ItemDetail it also comes in chocolate, vanilla and berry flavors for those who aren't big on the greens. It tastes really delicious though! I like to add all different kinds of ingredients depending on what I have in the house: pomegrante juice, acai juice, greek yogurt, kefir, almond or coconut milk, bananas, frozen blueberries, chia seeds, chocolate peanut butter...you name it I've tried it in my protein shake! I even put some cold coffee in once to make a sort of iced coffee shake! It was delish!
Have a great trip Betty! I can't wait to hear about Italy when you get back! I love to travel but boy is it stressful to fly these days since 9/11! It takes all day just to get where you need to go even if it's just in the United States, not to mention dealing with customs and all that. Stay hydrated on that airplane and get lots of rest! I always make sure to bring artificial tears (like Refresh tears) on flights because my contacts get so incredibly dried out in those planes!
Have fun in Colorado Marie! Give that baby lots of kisses!
Great job on the elliptical Jean! I've been window shopping online for ellipticals again! Not that I can afford it right now though.
Carolyn- do you ever take naps? I feel like I could use one today! Having a puppy is just like having a newborn! I bet your feeling that!
Have a great Friday ladies!
