STS Check in

Dragged myself back to STS today with week 2 of disc 17! Yesterday I did Jessica Smith dynamic stretch for rest day and Tuesday was Live time to hiit it

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Sadly, my 66 year old brother-in-law and neighbor for 27 years, died suddenly last week. He was relatively healthy but got cancer that aggressively zoomed through his body. He had been misdiagnosed until 3 days before his death, so we are just catching our breath now. So many positive lessons have come from it - importance of connection, forgiveness, openness and appreciating the health we have. And definitely saw the positive benefits from getting essential sleep! Without that, hard to handle anything life throws at us.

So, other than teaching 3 fitness classes per week (so glad I did fit in SOME workouts - you really need them at stressful times!) I haven't done much other than the odd walk and biking to do my errands (not always easy here in Canada with temps around the freezing point!).

Two days ago I started eating more mindfully and am feeling better already. Had just been popping anything around into my mouth! Ended up feeling low, bloated and gaining way too much weight. Today, finally, I am excited to start Meso 3. Thanks for blazing the trail Penny! And thanks to many of you who are so dedicated that you are adding on extended stretch segments AND ab segments. Whoa! You guys are great role models. And thanks to everyone for showing me workouts/life doesn't have to be perfect to be really beneficial, fun and effective.

Did Plyo Legs Disk 26 today. Haven't done much cardio at all lately, so I knew I was in trouble after the first cardio segment - box jumps. I only had 2 risers under the step while Cathe and crew had 4! And after huffing and puffing through more box jumps than I could count, Cathe says "We started off easy"!!! But felt soooo good to accomplish tuck jumps and air jacks 40 minutes in. This workout is a lunge lovers dream - lunge after lunge in this workout with every variation possible. Great for building balance and core stability. So many benefits come to those who sweat!

Completed 3rd week of Squat Rack Legs! Tomorrow I will complete Disc 33, I believe (shoulders/arms). I think I will repeat the 3rd week (reps x6) next week bc I want to get stronger before progressing to week 4 which is the 8 rep range again. Pretty sure I've gotten stronger so I'm excited!
Hope everyone is doing well! I can't believe I am almost done with another round of STS! ❤

Good for you, Jane! I've been slacking on cardio too this last week...I'm just not feeling it for some reason. I couldn't imagine doing tuck and box jumps right now!!!

Just finished Disk 27 - week 1 of meso 3 for shoulders, bis and tris. It is a longer program and you end up doing 12 sets for each of these three muscle groups. Whoa. So each body part gets a thorough workout for sure! Felt good about the weight loads I chose but not sure how I will ever go heavier in week's 2 and 3! Should be interesting...
Did the extended stretch afterward - really needed that.

Penny, good for you for being so near the end and building your strength! Great idea to repeat week 3. I may do that as well.

How is the squat rack work going? I found in the past I couldn't safely get more than 45 lbs over my head to place on my shoulders, so I used a weighted vest to supplement the barbell. Now I own the Fit Tower so I am thinking I could squat under it and place the barbell on my shoulders. What do you do?

Today Disc 22 followed by 6 pack abs #2 and stretch max #1.
My shoulders are my weakest body part so my shoulders were fried today doing drop sets with 10 sec rest in between. Felt good. I still cringe when Cathe picks up the 30lbs when she does chest fly's. I did go up to 28.5# for my 80% but I don't see me going higher than that.

Jane - That's what I'm planning to do when I do the squat rack. Squat under the Fit Tower to place the barbell on my shoulders. I have done that in past when the weight was to much to lift over my head to place on my shoulders.

Penny You go girl repeating week 3.

Oh, I have a squat rack, so I use that! I have some equipment in my garage my husband converted into a gym, so it is really nice! I feel like to do just 6 reps, one could go pretty heavy, so usually a lighter barbell and weighted vest isn't enough. If I didn't have the squat rack, I would definitely be doing the Plyo Legs workouts for legs. Is the Fit Tower sturdy enough for heavier barbells? Sadly, I don't own one. :(

Hey all! So I completed my first workout of the last week of STS! Wow! Chest and Back today...Disc thirty something or other, lol, I forget! This time I added on a Calorie Crush, abs, and Extended stretch. I’ve been dreading cardio lately, so the Calorie Crush was perfect! Tomorrow we go to my daughter’s first high school track meet so there may be tears...who knows? Haha! I’m hoping to do Legs Thursday and finish up STS with Shoulders and arms Saturday! Can’t believe it!

So I am thinking of doing the Xtrain 90 day rotation for summer! Has anyone done it? I’m really looking forward to more varied workouts!

Keep up the good fight everyone! My spring break starts next week! Whoo! Hoo!

Hi everyone!
Yesterday I did Disc 23 followed by 6 pack abs #1 and stretch max 2
Today was cardio day. I did Athletic step followed by 20 min of yoga.

Congrats finishing STS (tomorrow)!
I don't have Xtrain it's on wish list to get later this year.

Today was my last day of Meso 2 Disc 24 followed by stability ball abs and stretch max #3.

I really loved Meso 2 . The different types of training techniques- double wave load, back off sets, tri-sets, and drop sets. I'm really looking forward to Meso 3 that I want to start next week but I going to take the recovery week and do some light workouts, maybe.

Loving squat rack legs AND plyo legs so much that I am doing both! So it is taking me a little longer to get through all the workouts.

I think if I had to choose, I would say that Meso 2 is my fav. :) But the measurable results are so rewarding with Meso 3 that it is a close 2nd. Without a spotter it is hard for me to really max out with Meso 3 as I want to be cautious and injury free. But still it makes you feel strong and the long rest times and low reps take the dread factor out of the equation.

Squat Rack Legs week 4 complete!
Arms and shoulders tomorrow and I'm done!
Awesome Penny! Did you make the gains you were hoping for? How does it feel now that you have completed this tough and demanding program?? Hope you have a great sense of accomplishment and empowerment.

Jane you are doing both Squat Rack Legs AND Plyo Legs!?!! You are amazing! I must say though, the combo would really get your legs in great shape! Rock on!

I feel great after STS. It NEVER disappoints. I got stronger on this round, especially my legs! For the 6 rep week I got up to 135 for squats and 150 for deads! I also finally rowed with a 45# dumbbell for lat rows! Super happy about that! I do feel empowered. I don’t care that I didn’t lose weight, I mean, I don’t weigh myself but by the end my jeans felt a bit looser. Really excited to begin Xtrain after my recovery week.

Well, I finished up today with Disc 36, abs, a 2 mile run with the doggie, and a nice extended stretch. I have a Rugged Maniac race in April so I need to at least cover a 3 mile distance a few times a week for the next four weeks.

Good luck to you ladies that are finishing up! I’ll check in here from time to time! ❤️

Jane, sorry to hear of your brother-in-law. Good for you to see positive lessons in such a sad time.
You sound like a very strong woman. Meso 3 - wonderful to stay with it. You are so right, it doesn't have to be perfect as long as we continue and forge ahead.

Have been a little under the weather this week but got back to my week-end warrior class this morning with some awesome ladies.
Tomorrow I plan on getting back on STS with disc 14 and 15. :D:cool:
