Strong & Sensible

HI! LIC today, woop!
Lisa, congrats on the challenge, well done!! How do you interact with other Peletoners?
Ronne, do tell how things are going- I hope well. I'm sending positive vibes~~~
Mary, you are back tomorrow? I know you enjoyed time with the elder kids over holiday. And here we are with a new year. Here's to making the best of it :)
Cheers

I almost made it to the top half of the leader board on the live ride this morning!

Jody, I found a FB group that's fun and you follow the people on the Peloton app. Then when someone is riding at the same time as you you can give them a high five. For some reason this is fun to me! You can high five anyone who is riding at the same time, I use it sometimes as a way to distract them to try to pass them! Lol! This morning was fun as 2 girls pulled ahead early but then I noticed they faded after a bit. One of them we kept passing each other up, but on the second ride I knew I could take her at the end and I did!

He everyone! Back to work, kind of nice getting back at it. Mouth is finally better! Just cold here, cleaning, etc.

Lisa, you have really embraced that bike! What will you do when the weather turns? I know how much you enjoy biking outside.

Jody, LIC is a long one! I haven’t done that in years. All the kids are back at it, I miss them. Don’t miss the wash tho! Lol

Ronne, how’s it going? Do they let you out of the office? Did you figure out a workout schedule?

Hi Tracey!

Not much else here, we did go to the casino the other night, I was good and only played $5 and won’t $246! I cashed out and went to the bar! Lol! Have a good day!
Mary

Hi everyone

Mary - go you!! That's fantastic, I bet you were so happy. What luck!

Lisa - go you as well! Well done for sticking with the Peloton - sounds like you're having loads of fun with it. Shows that when you find some exercise you enjoy, you stick with it.

Jody - thanks for the vibes :) I can only imagine how stressful your job gets at times.

Well, I'm midway through my second week now. It's going pretty well, I'm not so knackered now and feel like I've got enough energy to work out when I get home. My colleagues seem nice. I feel a bit thrown in the deep end but it's a particularly busy time at the moment, so fingers crossed it will quiet down a bit in March.
As for the workouts, I've been doing OK. Mainly sticking with shorter 30-40 mins or so but managing to stick to 4 times a week which I think is pretty good. Done two lots of yoga this week as that's what my body needs.

Hi everyone! Hope a good weekend was had by all, we went out with friends Friday, and not much else!

Ronne, so glad you are enjoying your new gig! I’m sure it’s nice to get out and see faces. Plus side, new wardrobe!

How are you Lisa and Jody? Did anyone order the new dvds? I of course fell hook, line and sinker!

Hope everyone has a good day!
Mary

Greetings! I did IMAX 4 today. I am a super big fan!! It is blasty, and has fun and varied choreography that is easy to follow if you are familiar with Cathe step. Bonus abs 2 is also great.

Mary, I will definitely order the new workouts. I'm quite interested to see how Cathe combines balance and brevity! Congrats on the $$ win! Not bad!

Ronne, good job on getting your workouts done. My time of day workout preference is at an awkward late morning/noon. I hadn't considered new wardrobe aspect of job. I'm challenged enough just getting scrubs, lol. Continued good luck settling in and finding your groove. I guess these challenges keep us on our toes.

Lisa, (speaking of challenges) are you joining another Peleton challenge? It sounds like you thrive on competition. Take care of yourself though!

I'm off to the most magical place on earth this week, woop woop!

Hi girls! I’m taking a couple of rest days this week, I need it! I went to DIL baby shower Sunday and I’m in my skinny jeans! Only 3 lb away from goal!

Jody, you did inspire me to get control of my weight so thank you! Ooh, enjoy Disney! I was hoping bff would help plan our trip but it’s all falling to me, ugh. So guess what, I’m not going to feel bad about not planning roller coaster for her (I’m not riding them because you guys helped me be sensible!). Peloton...... there is a ladder dance party challenge on the 9th (I think it equates to 2+ hrs on the bike. And then another death by 10s in the 19th. I did do a Billie Eilish ride with the group on Sunday, I got another personal record!

Mary, we had nice weather and we cycled outside in Saturday, probably will again this next weekend. I think there is room for both outdoor and peloton, my body is saying rest this week so only riding every other day, especially after the calf cramp this morning, ugh! No amount of electrolytes, stretching or avocados (can’t have bananas) is helping, so I must need rest., !

Ronne, are you all settled in at work? How do you like getting out of the house?

Oh, I got an instant pot so I’m learning and cooking all the keto instant pot things! I swear I’m staying so busy between quilting, cycling, nutrition, and cooking that I drop into bed at night and wonder where the day went! I did watch ‘this is us’ this morning after my rude calf cramp, it was good! Those that have experienced the loss of a parent gets it. It hit home! I’ll never forget how dh told me it’d get better and how it meant a lot given he lost his mom as 17. My bff didn’t get it but was there and more than a decade later I was there for bff knowing how it really felt and I like to think I helped her through. Anyways, got to go get cooking in my instant pot!

Everest at AK, Rocking Roller Coaster at Studios and Test Track Epcot all have single rider lines if that helps friend, but yeah, you should skip those. What are you putting in instapot? I am having a good time. Waves~~

Hi ladies

Jody - glad to hear you've having blast at Disney. I'm going to order the new DVDs as well, 30 mins sounds right up my street. I'm looking to add an extra one for the free postage. Which one of the Step Boss would you say is the best?

Lisa - it's so lovely to hear you so upbeat and happy. It sounds like life is going really well for you at the moment. I bet you can't believe how far you've come since your surgery - could you imagine you would have ever got to this?

Mary - yeah, I've done a bit of shopping to top my wardrobe up ...

So I'm three weeks in now. I do like getting out of the house but I've got so much less free time than before. That's really noticeable. I've mainly done yoga this week but today I did Lite MB plus CC premix. I did Butts and Guts last Sunday all the way through. I haven't done that for years. Sundays are turning into a longer workout day with 3 shorter (30-40 mins) workouts during the week which is just about right.
I met up with my uni friends yesterday in London, had a blast catching up with them. We're planning our next weekend away.

Hi everyone! SuperBowl Sunday! We are going to friends, I’m going to eat today! And hopefully win some cash from my squares!

Ronne, that’s the terrible thing about work, getting up, ready, the commute, then actually working, getting home, doing the usual, working out, dinner then bed to do it all again. Gosh, that sounds awful! Why do we do it??

Jody, sounds like so much fun! I’m jealous!

Lisa, you are making me want to invest in a peloton! I know I won’t, but I want too!

Hope everyone has a good day!
Mary

Hi girls!
Jody, what happened with the star wars ride? Yes I'll avoid those coasters and BF can single ride if need be. What about space mtn, mine train and splash mtn? I'm wondering if I can do mine or splash (I know I can't do space!)

Mary, hope you win! That's exactly how I felt about the Peloton, thankfully brother came through! I am really happy I got it, never knew the real thing would push me as hard as it has! I found a class on Sundays that I love for the message more than the music. Last week was about being kind vs nice and how and why we should strive to be kind. I missed today because it's 70 and we rode outside! Snow tomorrow!

Ronne, funny how that cuts into one's spare time! Well done on b&g, I'm impressed! I just did 30 min of stretching LB and foam rolling, all Peloton classes. My legs feel better! Yes I do feel good with life at the moment. Funny you recognized how much better all the way back to my neck. I am better and lighter! Did I see where you guys have completed brexit?

So I did 2 45 min Peloton classes this week where both I pushed hard after I got going. 1st ride I saw I could catch my personal record and I fought to beat my prev time, it was tough, I pushed and pushed and finally last 2 min I pulled out 1 pt ahead! Then yesterday I didn't plan to beat my time, but got so caught up in the class that I beat my best time by 3 pts! Today a nice ride outside, though a bit windy. Tomorrow, rest! And grocery shopping.

Jody, re: the instant pot. I did steamed veggies to start (started small). Then I made yogurt, yum! Supposedly in the IP, the longer you put it in for the less carbs. I ate up 1 batch in a week and just made another. I did egg bites like at starbucks, a keto cheesecake, pork egg roll in a bowl. This week I'm graduating to doing more meat. I think it's a good investment and recommend it!

Ronne, re which SB to get, I'd say IMAX 4 or PHA3. Or both : ). IMAX 4 has fun blasty step and you can do shorter premixes and Bonus Abs 2 (like). PHA3 seems a little easier than previous PHAs, so if those hold a dread factor then maybe this will fit the bill and it includes Ab stacker (also like). I did Step Sync today and I quite liked it. But for me, it will be harder to justify doing since it is a long steady state cardio. It has Ab Stacker as well. Also, you are not as keen on step?

Mary, did you win anything on Superbowl? LOL, I do lottery scratch offs once in a while, but save them for an evening when I have had a rough time at work- hoping I can call out next day! I could have used a win this week.

Lisa, I think Mine Train might be OK, but they do have those warnings on that coaster as well. Are you planning on Tower of Terror? I never go on Splash- I'm not willing to chance a soaking, but it is probably ok? I loved Galaxy's Edge but we didn't get to ride until the following day. The day we got in a boarding group, we got in line twice and then were escorted out. We were comped with fast pass to the ride and a one day park pass for Studios good for 10 years. We went back to Studios and managed to get on ride in one of its functioning moments the next day. I was satisfied with the comp and thrilled with the experience. We also made reservations at Oga's Cantina and that was very cool- thumbs up to that as well and I recommend if you are a Star Wars fan. I'm sure you have the app on your phone- very useful. I'm blocked out April 4-17 fyi.

I've penciled in workouts from SB rotations for several weeks. I did SNS/PHA 1 on Sun then worked extra partial shift 11-7 and today was SB Step Sync and ab stacker. It fit the bill as I wasn't up for weights and the relative low intensity from learning new workout plus the fun of it etc really worked out. I did the entire thing!

Just popping into say 'GOAL!'. Now to set the next one to get rid of those other pesky metrics in yellow!

This is from my scale I bought..... I had lost 10 lbs in 30ish days prior to buying the scale. So 27.6 lb weight loss.

Funny thing.... When I started Cathe I was at the same weight and I started diet/exercise at same time of year in 2007 I think. It took me 8 mths to lose the same amount of weight.... This time took just 3 mths! The biggest change, cutting grains and cutting carbs with better dairy choices (ie. Who knew my organic milk that had carbs that impacted me?)

Hi all! Today did a Cathe live, kickboxing, yesterday was giant sets.

Lisa, CONGRATULATIONS!! That is impressive!

Jody, sounds like you had fun. I agree, I enjoy IMAX 4 and PHA 3, I tried step sync, that will probably not get much rotation for me.

Ronne, I know you are working. Does DH work full time or is he retired?

Well, I got really lucky again! I won the 2nd and 3rd quarters. My numbers were 0/0, so I was able to put $400 away for Boston in May. It will help with food and drinks for 5! Back to work tomorrow, good night! Mary

Hey everyone

Mary - you're definitely the lucky gambler around here! :p Well done on the workouts as well. DH is still working but from home and it's quiet at the moment which is good in a way as he's dealing with all the house stuff so I don't have to!

Lisa - congrats to you as well. Quite an achievement. Yeah, sadly diet is the first choice over exercise but I can't see me giving up anything any day soon ...

Jody - sounds like you had fun at Disney I know you've been going a long time but your knowledge is v impressive! Well done on the workouts and planning as well - I know that's not always easy for you.

Another hectic week at work - it never stops. Although, I do prefer that to not having enough to do or being bored. Getting on well with my colleagues so that's good. I go for lunch with one person in particular every day who's also new and we can compare notes. I am enjoying my new routine. The 30 mins walk each day is great - I go past a park and it'll be great to watch it change through the year.
Got a few shorter workouts under my belt this week - planning something longer for Sunday. No other weekend plans, just going to relax.
DD comes home on Monday for a few days so looking forward to seeing her. Have a nice weekend everyone.

Thanks all, I’ve been working hard! Snow has arrived, brrr! I’ve been spinning, a lot, I’m addicted!

Mary, congrats on the winnings, very cool!

Ronne, so you walk to work? I think I remember you saying you did. That would be so much better than driving!

Jody, yes I have the Disney app. I saw a you tube where you use it to get your boarding groups for Star Wars? They must be using it more than they did 5 yrs ago. Friend wants to do slinky dog dash.....guess she forgot my neck issue. It doesn’t even appeal to me! I didn’t like tower of terror when I had a good neck! We have photos somewhere of a water bottle floating up in the air on it (I had the strap tethered to my leg, and that bottle shot straight up! What’s your block out mean? We go the end of April.

Hi, I have been doing lots of Mom duty-mom fell and has right arm in sling. Hamilton is tonight! I'd love to find something dressy and cute to wear but I've regained some weight and feel schlubby. Oh well, I am still looking forward to the experience and brushing up on my American history in order to get the most out of it.

Lisa, I will text you or pm you a couple of Disney items if you want. Block out refers to dates my pass doesn't work- Spring Break, summer and holidays mostly. Are you resting or doing the Feb 9 challenge this week? Is Suki mad about Peleton? How was the shower?

Ronne, how are you picking your workouts? Playing by ear? I have actually done pretty well for a few weeks now sticking to plan. Maybe taking the time to combo Cathe plan with erratic work schedule is the key. How is DD enjoying Uni? I'm happy new position is working out well!!

Mary, I did some of Step Sync again today as warm up for (BBS from RWH LIHI premix). It makes me think of hiking for some reason. It's not so difficult that I get completely lost and give up, but the intensity is like going for a hike. So fun and interesting, but not an ass kicker, lol. I don't know that I'd be able to keep up with Cathe Live intensity wise, how do you do?

Yesterday I did MB and next few days will be rounding out body parts from RWH. Waves to all~~~

Jody, I had to do the Feb 9 challenge! Even after a big spinning week, I'm addicted! There was a few of us that did the challenge even though we were tired or sick. I just danced my way thru 2 hrs of spinning (theme was ladder dance party). So funny story...... My right index finger knuckle can get to hurting if I use it too much (sewing or pointing to press on iPad). Well it was hurting and I couldn't figure out why as I haven't don't those things to the extreme. During the challenge I figured out why...... When I high five people on the Peloton that's the finger I use and this past week, especially Sunday was lots of high fives. In fact today I did a 30 min on demand spin and finished in time to jump on a live ride, got on the live ride and was 1 min late and just as I was thinking to stop because I was late and tired, my friends that were riding high fives me, I had to keep going! I couldn't bail after all those high fives! I rode 100 miles last week on this bike that goes no where! DH is walking Suki so she gets hers and he likes the snow more than me anyway! The baby shower was nice. They got pictures done before baby is born, they look so happy! And DS looks slim (he's the one that gains easily thanks to my genes). How was Hamilton? When does mom get out of the sling? I think this way of eating I'm doing is sustainable (fingers crossed). I feel so much better, the 2 hr spin I did fasted for 20 hrs. I'd equate this way of eating to providing sustained energy instead of burst of energy like carbs do. Does that make sense?

Hi fit babes! It's so good to be here! I admit I only read this page of posts so I apologize if I am ignorant of your goings-on!

Lisa, congratulations on meeting your weight loss goal, enjoying your insta-pot and your new Peloton! That's so awesome! For years I tried the exercise over the change in eating to help me lose weight. Then I got a pretty good jolt of reality when a friend of mine steered me toward Beachbody. I recently gave up my mindless enjoyment of peanut butter and whaddya know? I've lost some weight! I hope your index finger knuckle isn't hurting anymore and you can do your high 5s without pain!

Hi Ronne! Congratulations on your new position for work! Great idea not to change anything with your food plan while you adjust to your new routine, co-workers and the work itself. I speak from recent experience! I've now been at my position from 1.5 years and I don't feel nearly as lost as I did a year ago. Whew! For the new Step Boss workouts, Step Sync is the one I won't do as much because it doesn't push you that hard. IMAX 4 is definitely doable, not the crushing punishment IMAX 3 is! I like it and the abs. I did PHA 3 earlier this week and I like that one too. There's more of a cardio factor in it than the previous PHAs.

And yes, I ordered Perfect 30. I fell hook, line and sinker just as Mary did. :)

Mary, you definitely have a good luck streak going, I hope you get more winnings that you can save for your trip to Boston! You cracked me up when you asked why do we work hard every day just to wake up and do it again? For me, it's always been about getting vacation time away from doing all that stuff!

Hi Jody! I hope your mom is doing better. How was Hamilton? That's great you've been doing a workout plan. I follow Cathe's rotations when I like 'em and will likely wing it in Feb. For some reason, I've been more motivated to workout in the evenings if I miss my lunchtime workout. Probably because I have the new SB series I can do. In any event, I'm not going to question it!

Things are fine here! DH and I are heading to Arizona in a few weeks for some sun and there's been no severe snow storm this year. Yet anyway! Just WAY too much rain (it rained every day in Jan. but the 1st) so just about everyone I know has planned a trip south to somewhere better! I also signed up for Stitch Fix because I am sick to death of my clothes and got my first box. I kept 3 of the 5 items and the whole thing was a good experience. A little spendy but it felt awesome that someone picked out clothing for me! I signed up to get a box monthly and I'm looking forward to the next one. Don't know how long I will do it and there's no obligation to stick with it so why not?

Great to talk to you fit babes!! Tracy
