Strength in Numbers

Julie Great job on Boot Camp, I Love that one, depsite the squat thrust climbers!
Oh yea, the barbell curls with the band in LIC are killers! I have yet to make it all the way through those without dropping the band!
Wow, there is another check in name idea - bye bye cankles! :p You are so funny!

Helen Good to hear from you and glad to hear you are doing so well with your workouts! Don't worry about how often you check in, we know you're out there!
The leg days in STS always got to me. Serious DOMS and definitely failed the toilet test after those workouts!!! Hope your legs are ok today!

Janie Great job on TBS AND on all of your challenges. You are doing great! I am especially interested in seeing how the pullups go since I have never been able to do those! Maybe you will be my inspiration to finally get over that!

This morning was 40/20 and no equipment abs. 40/20 wasn't too bad for me today, hooray! This has been a long stressfull week already and it's only Thursday morning, but I only have one more appraisal to do out of 13, yippee! I'm doing that one today and it will be such a relief to be done. This is the absolute worst part of my job, yuck! I hope everyone has a great Thursday!

Pam

This morning was Imax 3. I also did 32 pushups on my toes! Most ever so far. I think the enablers in this group have talked me into doing the pushup challenge. I am going to start that Monday.

Helen Don’t worry about checking in every day. You do what you gotta do and just know we will be here for you whenever you need us! I love having my workouts planned for months in advance. It makes everything so much easier. Right now I have all my workouts planned through August (3 ½ months is STS so that made it kind of easy :p).

Janie Great job with all your hard work! You really snookered me into joining you and Pam with the pushup challenge. I printed out all the weeks and am going to start next week doing them. I am thinking about doing the pull up challenge too but not sure yet. Gotta seriously talk myself into that one!

Pam Great job on 40/20 and ne abs! So sorry your week has been stressful but as you said at least it is almost over. Well, as I said above, I have printed out all the tests for the pushup challenge and am going to start that Monday. You and Janie are very impressionable … but at least it is in a good way. ;)

Happy Thursday!

Didn't get a chance to workout tonight while watching TV. Oh well.

Pam, I think the Pull-Ups are going to go very slow. Those are hard ones to do, but I'm hoping to do at least one next month. We'll see.:) Great job on 40/20 and the abs. I'm sorry about the worst part of your job. Glad the stress is almost over for you.

Julie, Great job on Imax 3 and 32 pushups on your toes. That's amazing! You continue to inspire me on my workouts. Glad you are going to start the challenge on the pushups Monday. Yeah! Hope you do the pull ups as well, you might as well, what the heck.

Janie

Julie Wow, Imax 3 and 32 Pushups!!!! Great job! I can't really tell if the push up challenge is better or not, but I need to give it some time since I've only done one week so far. It sure is hard though!! It'll be fun for all three of us to be doing it together, maybe Cheryl and Helen will decide to join us too!

Janie If you are able to do a pull up next month that will be a big accomplishment. They are just so incredibly hard!

Cheryl I hope you are able to get home ok today. I don't know what is happening in Ottawa, but they were showing how ugly it is in Boston today on the news....YUCK!

Helen I hope STS is still going well for you!

This morning was Lower Body Blast and 30 minutes of steady state cardio. I decided to try the no rope jump rope part of Mindy's all out cardio. It was pretty short though so I added the kickbox intervals at the end. It was only 25 minutes total, but wasn't really steady state so I decided that made up for it. I also did my week 3 day 3 push ups but I couldn't quite make it! I did: 16/21/15/15/20 The last set was supposed to be at least 21 but there was NO WAY one more push up was happening :( I'm thinking I will probably repeat this week because it was HARD! Happy Happy Friday everyone!

Pam

This morning I did Leaner Legs. I upped the weight on all the barbell exercises. I think I may fail the toilet test tomorrow! :D

Janie Bummer you didn’t get your TV time workout in. I am really talking to myself about doing those pull-ups (that didn't make me sound crazy at all). I have the STS tower but you can really only do the Australian pull-ups with that (at least I think). This weekend I am going to look for one of those pull-up bars that go over a door so I can do the assisted and band pull-ups.

Pam Great job on LBB and the cardio! Plus pushups!! I’m impressed. Isn’t amazing how just one more pushup can be so darn hard! As I was telling Janie, I think I may be doing the pull-up challenge too. I think my mental block for doing these is not just that they are hard but also those flash backs to junior high gym class. I can remember the whole class crowded around the pull-up bar and everyone had to take their turn doing as many as they could. I was always the one hanging on to the bar for dear life but unable to grunt my way up. Best to not think of those memories or else that might happen again!

Oh Happy Friday!

Well I am at the Ottawa airport right now. Someone I work with had some extra guest passes for the lounge so I get to hang out here instead of in the waiting room. And free wi-fi too.

The weather here has been cold, too cold for my Vancouver winter clothes . I am looking forward to warmer weather. I didn't go to the casino on Tuesday, way too tired. The three hour time difference had caught up to me. It has been a good week but I am ready to go home. So far the weather is fine and our flight is on time. Hopefully it stays that way.

It looks like the rest of you have been doing really well with the workouts. I am really missing mine and am looking forward to getting back to it.

I should be back to normal by tomorrow or Sunday.

Have a great Friday everyone.

Cheryl

Pam, I truly hope I get at least one pull up out of me next month. We'll see, and my fingers are crossed. I agree, they are the most hardest exercise there is. Great job on LBB and 30 min. of steady state cardio (rope) and the kickbox intervals. Amazing! Do you realize you did 67 push ups on your toes! Who cares if you took a the breaks needed to do that. You are incredible. Wow! If it was as hard as you say, it's a good thing you are listening to your body and doing that week over. It's still good, I'm so proud of you.

Julie, Great job on those Leaner Legs. And, congratulations on you upping the weight on all the barbell exercises. Yeah! I think you will fail the toilet test tomorrow too. LOL:eek: With the pull up tower, you can use it as a pull up bar or for Australian pull-up. Lift your legs up or cross them while doing them for pull ups and then of course put your legs in front of you and lift for the Australian pull ups. Hope you do the challenge, looking forward to seeing your fantastic results.

Cheryl, Lucky you being able to the VIP lounge. I've done that only once, and loved it! Can't wait for you to get back and get into the swing of things. Jet lag is for sure a bummer. Glad to hear you will be coming home soon. Have a safe trip.

Janie

Julie Don't have too much to drink today or your legs and glues will be unhappy with you! Great job on LL!!
OK, I might just have to start thinking about the pull up challenge too. I need to start looking around for a pull up bar or something I can use. I don't really have a good spot for one in my workout room though. The room I workout in is a sunken room, so there is a step right under the door so I guess I need to see if that would work.
Oh NO NO NO - no flashbacks to junior high gym class! I wonder if they still torture kids by embarassing them like that. I hope not! Just think about how much stronger you are now than you were then. Not to mention there won't be a while bunch of kids standing around watching while you are doing your pull ups at home.

Cheryl I hope you had no travel issues with your flight home yesterday. I know air travel was a mess here with the big snow storm on the east coast. Those coast to coast trips are killers aren't they?! The 3 hour time difference is so tough. It's great that you got to hang out in the lounge waiting for your flight, that makes it a little nicer at least.

Janie You are doing such an awesome job with your challenges!! I really believe you will be doing at LEAST one pull up next month. You are definitely giving me inspiration!!
It's funny, I didn't add up the pushups to see how many I had done altogether. I was just mad that I wasn't able to get that last one in!! I thought they would be easier than this with the 60 second rests between sets, but NOPE! Thanks for giving me a more realistic viewpoint!
Enjoy those 2 days with no challenges! You certainly earned them!

This morning was another double header, Athletic Step and MMA Kickbox. As far as double headers go, this one wasn't too bad. I just LOVE the stretch segment at the end of AS too. Nice. Now I'm waiting til 10:00 when Jimmy Buffet concert tickets go on sale as I am in charge of purchasing them for our group :p So I think I told you I was shopping for a new rug for my sunroom. I had decided which one I wanted, but last night I had DH spread them out one at a time and we all looked at them in the room. EVERYONE else liked a different one than me  Now what do I do? Get the one that I like or the one they like?! I'll probably get the one they like since I do like it, I just think the other one has a richer look. Ay yi yi. Anyway, have a great Saturday everyone, HAPPY WEEKEND!

Pam

Did 30 min. on mini trampoline.

Pam, I'm hoping for one pull up next month, but most likely, if it happens will be the end of the month. Your successes give me a lot of inspiration too. You guys got me into this because of all the push ups on the toes thing. Had to do something to get going too. Thank you so much! I just love it when we all inspire each other! Great job on MMA Kickboxing and Athletic Step. I'm glad it's only once a week. Wow! Get the rug you like. You are the one that will have to clean it, vacuum...right?

Have a nice weekend,

Janie

It's a rest day for me today. Not much going on. Will most likely do some kind of art work. I should clean, but not today.

Our son David is visiting here this weekend and him and his Dad are catching up big time. They soon will be watching a game (football I think). He's OK, just him and his wife needed a little time apart. Adrian (their son, my grandson) has Down Syndrome and it's taking a toll on David. Poor guy. He's going to realize one day that it's OK. He's a first time Father, and it is a challenge for him. He loves Adrian with all his heart, just a little depressed having to get into programs he thinks aren't necessary yet.

Well, have a really nice weekend everyone,

Janie

Janie You really have me wanting a mini trampoline now
I have a lot of faith that you will be doing that pull up next month. DH was going out to the sporting goods store today so I had him get me a pull up bar :p Not sure yet when I will start working on that challenge, I think I'm going to see how the push ups go first!
I ended up getting the rug that everyone else liked better. They convinced me that it needed to be light and bright since it's the sun room and it does really brighten up the room. It was the rug that I was sure I was going to like the best when I first brought them home!
Today is a rest day for me today too. I finished my lamp and cleaned out my oven and tonight we are going to our friends house for dinner and the Stelers game. I sure hope they win, DH gets very cranky when they lose
Wow, that must be very hard raising a chld with special needs, I bet it really does take a toll on you. It's nice that he's getting to spend some time with his dad. Poor guy :(
Cheryl I hope you are recovering from your trip and were able to get in a workout or your yoga class this weekend.
I just have 4 days to work and then we are off to Mexico for 5 days! Can't wait!!! I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Pam

All of your pull up and push up numbers are impressive!

I've had a successful week both in the kitchen and in the workout room. After whining about gaining 2 lbs. last week, I am down 3. I have been eating 6 meals a day consisting of one serving of protein and one serving of carbs, eating dark green vegetables with at least 3 of those meals, and drinking a ton of water. I am hoping I can keep it up.

Hello to all of you. If you're traveling, do so safely. If you are at home with family, enjoy it.

I've got a lower body workout scheduled for tomorrow. Probably STS Total Body, lower body only.

Helen

Friday was such a long day. It helped being able to use the lounge but the flight home seemed to take forever. Of course I get to bed at 10:30 PST and I wake up at 3 a.m. and couldn't get back to sleep at all. So at 5 a.m. I finally gave up and got out of bed. I was exhausted all day and crashed at 8:00 last night. I feel better today and went to yoga this morning. That felt so good. I want to get back into the swing of things tomorrow. I am just glad I am not back east right now since they are having a really bad cold snap.

Janie I know you will get a pull up in next month. They are hard but you will get a lot of strengh gains. This was my first time in the lounge too. Normally I sit where the regular people are but it was really nice being able to use the lounge and just relax. It is difficult to have a child with special needs. Hopefully time with his dad will help.

Pam There were no travel issues coming home. We did need to get de-iced but it only took 5 minutes compared to the last time we needed to get it done and it took 2 hours . The three hour time difference is really tough. I have a hard enough time with the 1 hour time change in the Spring and Fall. Did you get your Jimmy Buffet tickets? Where in Mexico are you going? It has been a long time since I was there.

Helen Yeah on your three pound loss. I gained 5 pounds while I was away last week :(. It was too cold to go outside much so I didn't get much exercise in.

Have a great Monday everyone.

Cheryl

Helen Congratulations on your successful week! great job! Keep up the good work!

Cheryl Welcome home, hopefully you will be able to get adjusted and back to your routine. I'm glad to hear that you were able to make it to yoga yesterday too. The cold up north is unreal. We were watching the football game last night and just kept commenting on how cold everyone looked! It's cold here, but luckily nothing like that!
I did get the Jimmy Buffet tickets. There are going to be 11 of us going, but the concert isn't until April. It is always such a fun show to go to!
We're going to Riveria Maya in Mexico, just outside Cancun. Our friends son is getting married there on Saturday. I'm definitely ready for the break after the rough January we've had. The timing could not have been better.

Julie I imagine our posts will be crossing again this morning! Hope you had a good weekend.

This morning was intensity for me. I am really enjoying that workout even though it is really tough. It seems like just when you think you are going to die she changes it up and you can keep going! I also restarted week 3 of the pushup challenge. I did: 12/17/13/13/21 Yea! A lot better this week. The last set was a max set and you needed to do at least 17. Last week it was all I could do to get the number 17 in, this week I was able to keep going to 21 so I was happy about that. I hope the rest of the week goes the same way. Have a good Monday everyone.

Pam

This morning was Low Impact Circuit. I woke up 10 minutes late because our alarm clock volume got turned down all the way so we couldn’t hear it go off. So, I didn’t get to start the pushup challenge this morning but will do it when I get home.

Cheryl Glad to see you are back at home in the “warmer” weather and got to get some yoga in. Hopefully you are all rested and set back to the right time zone and can start kicking butt with your workouts again!

Janie Great job on your challenges from Saturday! You are doing wonderful! I broke down and bought the Iron Gym pull-up bar that attaches to the door. It was super simple to put together and hang up and it is not permanent which is great. I tested it out yesterday and might be able to do one assisted but I’ve got a long way to go before I can do a full one! It has to be hard to have a special needs child, especially if it is your first child. I am constantly amazed at parents of these children and how well they seem to handle it. I imagine most parents need to take a break every once awhile even from children who do not have special needs.

Pam Great job on your Saturday double header of Athletic Step and MMA Kickbox! I can’t say I failed (or passed) the toilet test from Friday’s workout. I had a little trouble sitting down but I felt it more in my inner thighs than hamstrings. Uh oh! Your husband is a Steelers fan and mine is a Packers fan. One of us will sure be dealing with a cranky husband come Super Bowl Sunday! Great job on Intensity and your pushups! The fact that you got more in the last set this time seems to me like the program works.

Helen Great job on the weight loss! It is so exciting when you finally see the numbers going in the right direction. I hope you enjoyed your lower body STS workout!

Have a wonderful, happy Monday!

Pam, You should get a mini trampoline. You can make it as hard or easy as you want. It's great, and you can watch TV it's so quite. Can't get any better than that and it's different, which is good, creates confusion on your body. I'm still not sure if I will be able to get one pull up in by next month, but, I'm doing great so far. Still crossing my fingers, eyes, and toes.:D Glad you have a bar, cause it is needed if you want to prep for push ups for sure. When I take care of Adrian, he truly is the best baby I've ever took care of. You hardly even know he is around. I love him so, so much, he's just a doll baby, and he will teach us a great deal out of life, I'm sure of that. Our son is having a hard time of it sometimes, and with a special needs child, he will want and need some time to himself every now and then. Great job on Intensity. 76 total push ups on toes! That's incredible! Can you keep going with the max set? I didn't realize that, shoot, could have done more on a couple of different challenges. Will try the next time around.

Helen, Congratulations on 3 pounds down. Yeah! What diet, if any, are you following?

Cheryl, So glad you made it home safely. It will take a least a day, maybe longer to get back to some kind of normalcy. Our son with his dad does help a lot. He left with all smiles yesterday. Great job on yoga this morning.

Julie, Great job on LIC. OOOOO, I bet you love that pull-up bar. Congratulations.

Take care everyone, and have a nice evening.

Janie

Julie Great job on LIC. I hope you got to start the push up challenge last night! It sounds like we got the same pullup bar. I think it's great that it doesn't stay in the doorway and it can be used for pushups too (although I forgot to use it for mine yesterday )
Uh oh Steelers vs Packers! Game on! ;)

Janie I've added the mini trampoline to my wish list (along with about 100 other things!) I do love the idea of doing something active while watching TV. Usually I lay down and fall asleep!
I think you are reight that Adrian will teach you a great deal about life!
So great that he got to spend some time with his dad and left with a big smile!
Yes you can keep going with the max set silly! They tell you the minimum number you need to do, but keep on going until you collapse! Yesterday was the first time I was able to keep going past that minimum though!
You are doing absolutely fantastic with your challenges! Great job! Did you think a couple of weeks ago that you would be doing 39 pushups on your toes??!!! Fantastic!

This morning for me was Lower Body blast and the cardio only premix from 4DS kickbox. My legs were not very happy with me when I started the kickboxing but they got over it! :D I hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

Pam

Last night I was a good girl and started the pushup challenge. I am starting on week 3 and did 15, 18, 14, 14, and 25 with 60 seconds between each set. The first set was supposed to be 14 but I was daydreaming and went to 15, oops. This morning I did Kick Max and tonight I am going to start the pull-up challenge with week 1.

Janie Great job on your workout and challenges. You are moving right along with all of them. Isn’t it great to see how much stronger we are than we initially think. I hope I can do as well as you are on the pull-ups. We will see starting tonight!

Pam Great job on LBB and 4DS kickbox cardio! I saw that on the rotation and thought Cathe either wants to kill us or help us get the lactic acid out of our muscles. So far (1 day in anyway), I am liking the pushup challenge. The sets were challenging but not unbearable (yet).

Have a wonderful Tuesday!
