Strength in Numbers

I'm taking today off. 65 years old today and feel it's a privilege.

Julie, Great job on LBB. Glad your thighs held up too. Yea! Enjoy your weekend. My Hubby will take me out to dinner and I will be singing and playing for the elderly today (hmm...Today makes me elderly as well! LOL!) They are so special.

Cheryl, Great job on RK and housework and gardening...Enjoy your sleep tonight, you deserve it.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Julie Good job on Lower Body Burn and that your thighs are doing better. I got a great nights sleep last night. All that fresh air tuckered me out.

Janie Happy Birthday!!!! I hope you had a great day and you enjoyed your dinner. Isn't 65 the new 45.....

This morning was Step Moves. Then I finished with the housework and then we did some errands. Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Cheryl

I'm in Shelton today and will leave for East of the mountains on Mon. Today walked through the woods about 2 miles.

Cheryl, LOL sometimes I do feel like 45, but there is a difference. Great job on SM and finishing the housework and errands.

Take care,

Janie

PAM,

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear PAM, Happy Brithday To You! And many more...

Enjoy this day especially because it only comes around once. LOL

Love You,

Janie

Janie I hope you enjoyed your walk in the woods.

So yesterday I did the Original Bootcamp ( how about that I actually remembered a Saturday workout ) and today was yoga. Today I went out for lunch with some friends to a town called Fort Langley. It is used a lot in filming movies and TV shows. It is a quaint little town that has a lot of cool little shops.

I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Cheryl

Saturday morning I did Live Total Body Tone Up. It was not what I expected. I thought it would be a weight workout but it was more like a metabolic workout than weights. It was good for a metabolic workout though. After that was lots of housework. I got a lot of things cleaned up that I had been slacking on. Sunday was a double shot of two shorter workouts, Live Hi/Lo HiiT w/Step and Step Sweat. The Hi/Lo Hiit was a mixture of RWH low impact floor moves and high impact step moves plus about 8 minutes of core work. It was fun and about the right intensity mix. Step Sweat was a choreo step workout. I actually was able to do it and had a blast. There was only one tricky move. These lives are too funny. In the HiiT workout, Cathe couldn’t remember how to do the Fred Astair move and took about 15 seconds trying to figure it out (nice little break though). In the Step Sweat workout, she had 4 combos and at the end went to put them all together and kept messing up. We finally got it and then the group said they wanted to do it again but she couldn’t remember the 1st combo so just threw in a few drills to end it out.

Janie Good for you for taking the day off and enjoying your birthday. Sounds like you had a great birthday. You are fabulous for 65!

Cheryl Great job on Step Moves and housework and errands! We actually had decent temps over the weekend but the wind was so bad, we would lose our power for a few seconds every hour or so. Great job on Original Bootcamp and yoga! That is so cool that you live next to a place used for filming.

Pam Hope you had a fabulous birthday weekend!

Have a great day!

Just wanted to say I'm on my way to East of the mountains. Don't know when I'll be posting if at all. I hope to. But will be back home Friday night sometime late. Keep doing what you are doing. Hope I can find a gym and have time to workout as well.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Janie Great job on S&H triceps and biceps!

Cheryl
Great job on 30/30 and NE abs and all of your power washing. Glad to hear you are getting new windows! It sounds great sitting outside having a beer with the neighbors!

Julie
Great job on LMCB, sorry to hear that you thigh was giving you trouble, but I'm glad to hear that you were able to work it out. It sounds like you didn't get injured, so happy about that! I did get major DOMS from my disc 7 workout and it didn't help that I had a 4 hour car ride ugh!

Janie
Great job on S&H legs! That whole series is tough!

Cheryl
Great job on RK and your house work. i hope you did sleep well that night!

Julie
Great job on LBB!

Janie
Good for you for taking off your birthday. I hope you had an absolutely fantastic day!! It sounds like you had some nice plans and you are so right, being 65 (or in my case 55) is definitely a privilege!

Cheryl
Great job on Step Moves. I hope you had a great weekend too.

Janie
Great job on your 2 mile walk. Awww, thanks so much for the birthday song, I could almost hear you singing it! :D

Cheryl
Great job on BC AND remembering what your Saturday workout was! :p Fort Langley sounds like a lovely place and it sounds like a nice day.

Julie
Great job on Total Body tone up, it sounds like one I would like. Great job on doing all that stuff that you had been putting off too, that is a great feeling! Great job on your Sunday double shot too! So nice that you had a blast. The live workouts sound like a lot of fun, almost like you are there in the room with her! It's also nice to hear that Cathe is human!

Janie
I hope you enjoy your travels, touch base when you can!

Thursday morning I did a quick workout since we were hitting the road to Charleston. I did 30/30 and then we drove to Charleston. We had a really nice time there and I didn't do any workouts! We did walk around quite a bit on Friday and had some great meals! The wedding Friday night was outside on a plantation and was just beautiful. We were going to stay until Sunday, but because I had to fly to San Francisco for business on Sunday we came home Saturday instead. I didn't do a workout on Sunday either, even though I should have! I went to the hotel gym this morning and did an hour on the elliptical (5 miles), then did a few weights. I'm not sure if I'll make it to the gym every morning or not, but we will see! Have a great day!

Pam

Julie Good job on all your workouts this weekend. It sounds like it would be fun and entertaining to do the live workouts with Cathe. Doesn't it feel good to get things cleaned up that haven't been done for a while.

Janie Enjoy your trip and post if you can.

Pam Good job on 30/30 and the elliptical this morning. The wedding sounds lovely. Enjoy your time in San Francisco, hopefully you will have time to do some site seeing too.

I just started week 1 of meso 3 this morning with disc 25 chest and back. Then I went for a walk this afternoon.

Have a great day.

Cheryl

Last night I did Live ICE Total Body Compound. It was a lot of the moves from the ICE workouts. It was short at 43 minutes. Definitely more metabolic than total body. Update on Maggie. She is not really doing well on the chemo. It makes her really weak and lethargic. She will take about 3-4 steps and then lay down for a few minutes before getting up and repeating. She is also stumbling more and not able to stand up while eating. DH and I decided to take her off the chemo and see if she gets back to how she was before. We know that taking her off chemo might make the cancer spread faster but we don’t want to extend her life by making it more difficult on her.

Janie Have a great time on your mini-vaca!

Pam Great job on 30/30 before your road trip. Hope you find time to have fun in San Francisco with your business trip. Great job on the elliptical.

Cheryl Great job on starting meso 1 with disc 25 plus your walk!

Have a great day!

Cheryl I'm not sure I will get to do much sight seeing, other than whatever I we going to and from work and dinner, but that's ok. This is such a pretty city. Great job on disc 25 back and your walk! I was supposed to finish my last round of STS, but since I'm here and then NY and Vietnam next week, I will miss the last week.

Julie Great job on ICE total body compound. I'm so sorry to hear that poor Maggie is not doing well on her chemo. I think you are doing the right thing taking her off it to see how she does. Quality of life is so important and you don't want the treatment to be worse than the disease. Poor little girl, I hope she does better off the chemo.

I made it to the gym again this morning and did 15 miles on the bike creating my own spin workout. I was a little limited because you couldn't really stand on the bike, but I did some tabata rounds and hills and different things to make it interesting. It was definitely a tougher workout than yesterday, I was sweating like crazy and beet red! Have a great day!

Pam

Julie Good job on Live ICE Total Body Compound. Sorry to hear that Maggie isn't doing well on the chemo. I think you are doing the right thing by taking her off it and see how she does. I hope she will be doing better soon.

Pam Too bad that you will miss your last week of STS but San Fran, NY and Vietnam would be much more fun. Good job on doing your own little spin workout.

Today was CCC. It was harder than the last time I did it because I was a bit tired this morning for some reason. Today we went to an assisted living home for seniors to check it out for DH mom. They are getting to the point where the house needs to be sold. Wow but it was really nice. It is a place that I would like to live in once I get to that point. It was like a 5 star hotel. We are going to take her there this Thursday to see what she thinks of it.

Have a great day everyone.

Cheryl

Last night I decided to take the night off working out to spend with Maggie. She was actually doing better last night and even a little this morning. Then after she ate, she fell down and ended up losing control of her bladder. I am not sure if there is more going on with that or if she just got nervous and scared from falling. DH is home with her today and is going to try to get her moving and see what is going on.

Pam Great job on your 15 minute ride! I hope you can get out and see a little of the city. You are certainly going to be a traveling nomad the next few weeks aren’t you?

Cheryl Great job on CCC! That’s nice that you found a good home for your MIL! I don’t know what it is like up there but around where I live it can be very difficult to find nice homes. Some have nice workers but the facilities are falling down or not kept up to date.

Have a great day!

Julie I hope that Maggie does better throughout the day and that she was just a bit nervous. It is probably the same here as where you live that some of the homes are nice but others are not kept up to date.

Today was disc 26 Pylo Legs. Then it was grocery shopping. I am going dragon boating tonight so I am posting now just in case I don't get a chance to later on.

Cheryl

Cheryl Great job on CCC! I have been trying to get my mom to go look at assisted living places but she is so stubborn and thinks she doesn't need it, but she desperately does! I keep telling her I think she would really like it, but she says I'm trying to 'put her away'. o_O

Julie Oh no, I hope that is a temporary thing for Maggie. It may be that it takes awhile for the chemo to work it's way out of her system. Hopefully you are right that the fall just scared her. I'm glad that your DH is able to be home with her today!

Cheryl Great job on disc 26 plyo legs! I hope you have fun dragon boating!

I did make it to the gym this morning and did the elliptical again. I only did 40 minutes which put me just over three miles total. I am not a big fan of using cardio machines, so it's getting harder to motivate myself to go to the gym! Have a great day!

Pam

DH said Maggie started doing better in the afternoon and even got up on the couch by herself (we sometimes have to help her). She was doing fine when I fed her when I got home too so it must have just been nerves. That made my day. I appreciate all the support you give to me with going through this. I did do Live Cardio Core Circuit last night. It was the same format as the DVD but she repeats all the core exercises at the end. The cardio moves were mostly different and the core work was all standing with weights. I would say it was much more fun and less dreadful than the DVD. Maybe because it was 5 minutes shorter or because the cardio and core work was slightly less intense.

Cheryl Great job on Plyo legs Disc 26! How fun to go dragon boating. I just love the name of it. I picture you in a Viking boat or something.

Pam Great job on the elliptical for 40 minutes! I am not a fan of cardio machines either. The only one that interests me is the rowing machine but I have never used one.

Have a great day!

Julie That is great news about Maggie, I know you must be so relieved! Great job on Live CCC. It sounds like more fun than the disc, I like that the core work is all standing too. I have tried a rowing machine in a circuit class that I did one time and it was really hard! I think it would be tough to do for very long.

I am so proud of myself for making it to the gym four days in a row. This morning I did another spin class. I did 15 miles again, but it took me a little longer and it said I burned fewer calories, so I guess I wasn't working as hard. I was still dripping with sweat and beet red though, so I was satisfied. :D.

Pam

Pam Parents can be so frustrating sometimes can't they. Assisted living places are not the same as they were 20 years ago. I wouldn't have an issue going into one when I get to that point. Good job on doing the elliptical again. I am not a fan of machines either I find them a bit boring.

Julie I am so glad that Maggie is doing better and that it was just nerves. Good job on Live CCC. I like doing standing core work over the floor work. Well it isn't quite a viking boat but it is long. YouTube has lots of videos of dragon boating if you are interested in seeing what it is about.

Pam Good for you in making it to the gym four days in a row. I wouldn't worry about what the machine is telling you about how hard you worked, they are usually just a ballpark figure. You worked hard if you were dripping with sweat and beet red.

So last night was dragon boating and it was a lot of fun. There were no seals on the log booms this time though. They are normally there but I know they must be ready to have their pups soon so maybe they go elsewhere to have them. This morning was disc 27 shoulders, biceps and triceps. Then I got housework and laundry done and did a bit of cleaning outside.

Have a great day everyone.

Cheryl

Maggie is doing so much better. She is pretty much back to her old self which wasn’t the most spry or agile but certainly better than before. I think DH and I are ok with knowing that we are just going to let her live her life out as comfortably as she can. I did do Live Legs & Glutes. It was a good workout. It had some of the same exercises from the DVD but she added in several cardio blasts. I am feeling a nice little soreness in my legs this morning.

Pam Great job on making it to the gym 4 days in a row and your 15 mile spin ride! I think you did awesome despite what the machine said. I am sure you were working as hard as you could. I would say both CCC and Legs & Glutes Live has been more fun than the DVDs. It could be the energy is just different and they are new though.

Cheryl How adorable that the seals are going to have pups. Do you normally see the pups or just the adults? Great job on disc 27 and housework! I just checked out a video of the 2013 Canadian National Dragon Boat Championship. That was quite interesting; not a Viking boat at all.

Have a great day!

Cheryl Oh yes, my mother can be extremely frustrating. She equates assisted living with nursing homes. I keep trying to explain to her that it is different, but I can't get her to even set a foot in the door because she thinks they will force her to stay! Great job on dragon boating. It really sounds like a blast. Great job on disc 27 shoulders, bis and tris too.

Julie I'm so glad to hear that Maggie is back to her old self. Great job on Live legs and glutes. It sounds like it was just about the right level of difficulty. You are really tempting me with the live workouts, it must be fun having a new workout to look forward to every day!

Last night I was on my own because the two people I am traveling with both had plans with local friends. I walked down to Fisherman's wharf and walked around and then walked to the ferry building and had dinner at Hog Island Oyster company. They have the best clam chowder, although it wasn't as good as the other hog island that I have been to. It was still good. After that I walked back to the hotel, so I got a few miles of walking in. This morning I did my least favorite machine, the treadmill. I had already done the bike and elliptical twice so at least it was a change. I'm glad it's my last day here! I did 3.5 miles on the treadmill and was proud of myself for being able to hang in that long. I'm looking forward to being home and doing a Cathe workout tomorrow! Happy Friday everyone!

Pam
