Strength in Numbers

I did Cathe's Burnsets Chest, Back, Shoulder. I thought the 50min workout consisted of 3 sets of 10 then a burn set after each exercise. Thankfully, its only 2 sets of 10 followed by a set to 'failure' {"in this case failing is a good thing" ~Cathe}, and then at the end of each group of exercises for a body part is a 'burn set' which is usually weightless and high rep. The workout went by quickly and hit eveything well. The last group is shoulders so when we started the stretch with 'raise you arms above you head' my arms went 'What? is she kidding?":eek: I think I'd better keep stretching or I won't be able to move tomorrow.

Pam, so I did Burnsets and survived. I was happy to find out we didn't have to do as many sets as I thought! I went light just because it was the first try so most of my 'failure' sets were closer to 16 than 10, but I wrote it down so next time I'd know.

Julie, I read somewhere that HS was more of a high/low than boxing but I didn't feel that was the case. I did finish everything yesterday!

Julie, Great job on this morning's Afterburn with Double Trouble prem. Oh yes, I love the standing legs too. How is everything at work with the changes, or is it still in the planning stages? I send you positive vibes your way. Sending sending vibes your way.

Pam, Hope your shoulder feels better soon. I'm hym hawing around the idea of the art work. Just not sure if that's what I want. Hmmm. Just want to have fun. Very scary for me. Don't know if I can do pets. Never done one before. Hmmmm Things to think about. I sent the copy of My grandson's drawing to him yesterday. I can't wait to hear from him. And my daughter.

Great job on SuperCuts premix1 + core. Variety is as good as intensity sometimes. Also even though it's fun for you the skiing, it is a workout for sure. Good going! You are so active.

Penguin Congratulations on surviving Burn Sets! I hope you were able to get all stretched out and are able to move today! :D I found I went too light with several of the exercises in that one too.

Janie Great job on XTrain disc 9 prem6 with back, How many of the tabatas does that one include? I can understand your hesitation with making your hobby a business, you don't want it to feel more like a job than fun. That makes a lot of sense. Do let us know what Cody says about his drawing!

This morning was Xtrain 1, Chest, back and shoulders. It just flys by, I really like the format. I added on Tabata 1 at the end to get a little cardio in. I love having that tabatacise disc for add ons! Have a great day ladies!

This morning I did Rear Delts and Yoga Relax! I really feel my rear delts getting worked in the last of the 3 exercises but not really in the first two. I am not sure if I need to go heavier or work on form or what.

Pam Great to have you back! Sounds like you had a fabulous time skiing despite the cold. I am with you though on snow skiing. I just don’t think I would enjoy it because I would be so cold. Great job on getting back into your rotation with Supercuts + core 1. I have that one set for tomorrow. I think if I can say I made it through CCC or MIC than my cardio is back but AB certainly is not easy breezy. Great job on CBS + tabata 1! I hope your shoulder is doing better. I really like the idea of the tabatas disc too. There is 5 on that one and 6 in CF and TTM so that is quite a few tabatas to have for add ons.

Penguin Great job on BS CBS! It sounds like you enjoyed it better than you thought you would? I need to go ahead and try HS without letting other comments I have read cloud my judgment. I just won’t be doing it for a while since I am still easing into higher impact. Congrats on getting your big to do list done too! Are you still stretching?!?!

Janie Great job on disc 9 premix 6! I don’t know what disc that is off hand but I am sure you smoked it! We are still in the planning stages. I have a meeting with my employees this afternoon to tell them what is being discussed and get their feedback. That is what I am stressing about right now. I have two pretty vocal employees who think their primary job is to complain about everything. Hopefully it goes better than I am imagining. Gotta remember to think positive!

Today was All Out Low Impact HiiT: Premix 4, Low Impact Hiit and Burn Set Shoulders. Beat red and sweaty! YooHoo!

Pam, Not sure but I think disc 9 has all the Tabatas. Great job on XTrain 1, chest bac and shoulders and the addition of Tabata 1 for cardio.

Julie, Oh I don't like it when people there are the same people that complain all the time. Hmmmmmm That is stressful in itself. Still sending you positive vibes. Great job on Rear Delts and yoga relax. Just listen to your body, it will tell you if you are ready to go heavier. Sometimes using really accurate/concentrating form and slowing down a bit is enough.

Julie Great job on Rear Delts and Yoga Relax! I can feel my delts in the first of the 3 exercises too if I really concentrate on squeezing them, but I agree that I don't feel the second one at all. The third is definitely the best though! The shoulder is still talking to me, but I keep trying to tell it to be quiet!

Janie Gtreat job on All Out Low Impact HiiT: Premix 4? LOVE to be beet red and sweaty, you just can't beat that (no pun intended :D) Did you do all 5 tabatas in a row the other day?? I haven't tried that yet, but the idea of it scares me! :confused:

This morning was disc 5 legs premix 1 (everything but the barre), plus core number 2. I think that core number 2 is growing on me! Happy Friday everyone! We are supposed to get wintry weather this afternoon - yuck! So we are working on home to avoid the craziness!

We celebrated about Hubby's new job too soon. The company announced last night, without any warning, that they will be moving Corperate to Minnisota this summer, with a final closing date around May. So once again we are facing Hubby being out of work.

Yesterday was a rest day. Thinking about Cardio Legs today.

Julie, I try to avoid reviews about workouts until I've tried them myself. I read some negative comments about a background exerciser in a Leslie once, {they were just being mean to her}, but when I did the workout I thought she was fine, but I can't do that workout to this day without thinking about what they said about her. That's when I started avoiding reviews. Still stretching! I try to stretch periodically anyway!

Pam, did you do disc 5 of Xtrain or STS? I can see this can get confusing!
 
This morning I did Super Cuts + 100 Hip Thrusts + Core 2! I really liked Super Cuts. It wasn’t dread hard but it wasn’t easy peasy either. It had some fun unique moves and no repeats. I had trouble keeping up with the situp/pushup combo at the end and had to go to my knees for about half the pushups but hey room to grow, right!

Janie Great job on AOLIH premix 4! Thanks for the good vibes! Yesterday’s meeting went well and the one lady I was worried that would blow up really didn’t. So either I am that good at convincing people of change or she was having a good day! I will play it by ear next time I do rear delts.

Pam Great job on legs premix 1! Sounds like my kind of premix to leave out the barre! I really like core 2 better than core 1 I think. I still need to do each of them again but I was loving it this morning. I am glad I am not the only one not feeling that tubing exercise in Rear Delts. I may have to really work on it and find some way to make it work or substitute. Sounds like working from home is a good way to stay safe!

Penguin I’m so sorry about DH! I don’t know how they can expect their employees to pick up and move or be surprised when people say they will not move. That is crazy and seems like with the short timeline this is something they should have known for a while. You do so much better than me then with stretching throughout the day. I will if I am overly tight but usually end up sitting at my computer for far too long without taking breaks. Hope you got cardio legs in.

I think the 2 mugs of coffee and spaghetti I had for lunch was a bit too much acid for my stomach. Its pretty upset now. I did 30min on the treadmill while watching an old workout on the DVD player. I followed the arm movements but don't think I'll do the workout again, I have many more I like better.

The job thing is turning into a real rollarcoaster

Julie, I got into the habit of stretching frequently last Jan and find I just feel better overall. Nothing specific or scheduled, if I start to feel stiff I move the body part a few times then stretch. I hold a lot of tension in my arms, neck, and shoulders so they get the most work.

Penguin Oh no, so sorry to hear the news about your DHs job. That must be so frustrating for you having all of these ups and downs. :( So did you end up doing Cardio legs yesterday? It was disc 5 of XTrain that I did. You're right, this can get very confusing!

Julie Great job on Super Cuts + 100 Hip Thrusts + Core 2! You have really been good about those 100 rep challenges! I haven't done any of them yet :eek: That sit up push up combo at the end of SC is crazy, isn't it? I did them all, but I was moving a lot more slowly than they were by the end! So glad to hear that your meeting went well and the troublemaker didn't make trouble. I'm sure it was your power of persuasion! What a relief! Yes, premix 1 of the legs is a good one without the barre. I'm the opposite, I like core 1 better than core 2. Those sit ups with the alternating leg lifts kill me, I am so out of breath by the end of those!

Penguin Sorry about your upset stomach, I hope you recovered quickly! Great job on your treadmill workout, I don't blame you for not wanting to do one that you don't like again.

I'm trying to catch up on the weight from when I was gone so this morning I did AOLIH premix 1 which is the whole thing plus core 1 and then Burn sets Bis and Tris. The nice thing about some of these shorter weight workouts is that it lets you add some cardio! DH had a 7:20 flight to Orlando this morning and I got up and took him in the ice. Luckily the roads weren't too bad and there was no one out so it was uneventful. Now he's in Florida and I'm here in the cold :mad: The good news though is that is supposed to be 74 on Tuesday so the mess will be gone. Have a great weekend ladies!

Pam, Great job on AOLIH prem1. I know you are being safe while traveling in the ice, but still, I worry about ice and cars. It doesn't mix. Do be careful. Your weather is amazing. One day ice and the next in the 70's. Man. How sweet is that?

Janie Great job on disc 6 Cardio Legs Perm5, burn set bi's. I love how many premises she included in this series! Oh yes, we take it very easy when there is ice on the road. Normally I wouldn't go out in it, but since he had a flight we had to do it. I didn't want him driving s car in it and he didn't want to leave me home with the SUV, so he reluctantly let me take him :rolleyes: yes, this weather is nuts, all of the ice was gone by about 1:00 yesterday afternoon with no sign it had ever been here at all. I was happy about that!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. We miss you Cheryl, hope you are doing well! This morning I had nothing on the calendar but wanted to do something so I did TTM Extreme premix. I skipped the core since I did it yesterday and Friday and have core on the calendar again tomorrow. It kicked my butt though. I thought I had one more Tamara left at the end though, but was not upset when I found out I as wrong! Happy Sunday!

Morning ladies, I hope everyone had a great weekend! My DH was gone so it was a quiet one for me. This morning was Disc 5 premix 1 again. I am not sure I am going to be able to stick with this XTrain 90 day rotation since it seems like too much repetition already. Hmmmm...I guess I will give it some more time and see how it goes. Saturday was errands and cleaning most of the day and into the evening. Sunday I did Burn Sets: Chest Back and Shoulders. I don’t like doing the shoulder burn set of the scarecrow move with the band so I decided to just sub in the 100 rep Scarecrow instead. This morning I had to really force myself to get out of bed after a horrible night’s sleep but I got up and did Ride. I would like to say that woke me up but I have a feeling today is going to be a long day with a possible need for some major caffeine jolt to get me through.

Penguin Great job on your treadmill with arms workout! I bet adding the arms helps keep it a little more interesting and less time spent watching the clock.

Janie Great job on HS premix 3! Bummer about the computer problem. Great job on Cardio Legs premix 5! Which rotation are you doing again? The 30 day strength and cardio one? How are you liking it?

Pam Great job on AOLIH premix 1 plus BS Bis & Tris! Oh I’m so sorry about your ice storm and having to drive in it. This winter weather has been crazy. Our temps keep fluctuating to the point it is actually frustrating to have a few days in the 40s and 50s and then a few days in the 20s or below. Great job on TTM Extreme! What a nice surprise to not have that last Tabata at the end. Great job on disc 5 premix 1! I am already making some adjustments to the 90 w/LIS rotation and will be modifying more in the future. Hope you enjoyed the quiet this morning.

Its 75* outside and I have the windows open. Unfortunatly, I've got what we call 'Memphis Crude" which basically means my sinus have exploded. I'm coughing, sneezing, and dripping but not running a temp and otherwise feel fine, just tired. It seems I {and everyone else} gets this about this time of year. Its supposed to snow here on Thursday night, my Knit Night! I'm going to be :mad: if I have to miss that!


Julie, adding the arms did help, I guess even a boring workout is better than no workout at all.

Pam, 90 days with the same few workouts doesn't sound very good. No Cardio Legs just treadmill

Janie, I've been having trouble getting on CN periodically also. May not be the computer.
 
Julie Great job on BS CBS, I haven't done that one yet. This rotation is weird because for the first few weeks it seems like I am only doing the regular CBS workout and only the Burn Sets for Bis and Tris. I am assuming that will change soon....Great job getting up and doing Ride after a lousy sleep too. I hope you made it through the day without too much struggle. i just hate those days! Yep, we are having more of the crazy weather. They were warning of freezing rain Sunday night (luckily it didn't happen) and today and tomorrow it's in the 70's. I haven't made too many adjustments to the rotation yet, but I can definitely see that happening soon!

Penguin Enjoy that nice weather. Too bad your sinus's are acting up, but I'm glad that you feel ok. From 75 to snow in 2 days, this really is one crazy winter so far isn't it?! Hopefully the weather folks are wrong on the snow.

This morning was Burn set Bis and Tris again. Since that one is so short I added Tabatacise premix 1 which is tabata 1 and core 1. I wish the pre-mixes on this one gave you the option of picking any one of the 5 tabatas if you are only going to do one. I know I could use the DVD remote to get to a different one, but I guess I'm just lazy! Anyway, have a nice day ladies!

This morning, after much better sleep last night, I did Burn Set Bis & Tris and Rear Detls. I don’t really like doing the triceps pushups for the first set so I subbed in close grip bench press and also subbed in crossbody kickbacks for the last set of 1 arm kickbacks. That really got my triceps crying. For rear delts, I increased my weight by 1 pound on the first exercise and really felt it this time and finally feel like I am getting the hang of the tubing exercise too. Here’s hoping for some nice soreness tomorrow!

Penguin Crazy winter weather. We are supposed to get to a high of 67 today and rain and thunderstorms all afternoon and evening. Then tomorrow, our high is 39 with a chance of snow. I don’t even know how to dress anymore. I hope your knit night doesn’t get cancelled.

Pam Great job on BS B/T! Looks like we were on the same page again. Didn’t that happen last time with this same video? Great job on adding in tabata 1 and core 1 too! I find I am lazy when it comes to working out-oxymoron? I will often times avoid rotations that involve more than 1 DVD a day. I just don’t want to be messing around with that. That’s weird how the first month of the regular 90 day rotation is set up. Seems there should be a little more variety.

Yesterday along with the other errands April had her yearly checkup, overall she got a good report but they did send something off for a doublecheck. Since she was such a good dog at the vet that we drove by a local park on the way home, so we could walk her around a bit. The ground was wet and sloppy but we all had a good time.

Hubby's off days have changed to Sat-Sun so I need to sit down and re-figure my schedule. Also I need to bake cookies for tomorrow, along with laundry and picking up the clutter after the weekend. :p
 
Julie Great job on Bis, Tri and Rear delts! I hate those tricep pus ups too. I can't do any on my toes and I don't feel like I get the best tricep workout when I do them on my knees. I may try subbing something for those next time too. Oh good for you getting the hang of the tubing for the rear delts, I am not there yet. I like your idea of going up by a pound on the first exercise too, I think I will try that next time. You just gave me all kinds of good suggestions today :D Thanks! Yep, we are on the same page with this video again. Cathe uses this one a lot in the 90 day rotation. It's funny what we are lazy about with our workouts isn't it! We are working so hard but then a little thing like putting in a new dvd can seen like such a big deal. The thing I don't like about it is that it makes me feel like I'm starting over and I don't like that little break waiting for it to load :rolleyes: I really wish she had put both of the core workouts on all of the XTrain dvds for instance so I can just jump to that section when I want to do core. OK, I'm done whining now:p A lot of people on FB were complaining about all of the repetition in the 90 day rotation too. It's weird that even with all of the pre-mixes, every time hard strikes is in the rotation it's the same pre-mix :confused:

Penguin I'm glad to hear that April got a good report at the vet. It sounds like the park was a lot of fun. I think dogs prefer it when its sloppy and wet!

This morning was supposed to be AOLIH+core#1, but since I did core #1 yesterday I did AOLIH extreme cardio premix. It goes through all three sections and then repeats the floor section for a total of 52 minutes. It was good, I was sweaty and beet red so it did the trick! Have a great day ladies!
