Ripped with HiiT January

Today was Chest, Shoulders & Triceps + Low Impact HIIT #2 + Abs 2. And this time I tried the declines and did 8 on my toes before I moved to the floor and did the rest on my knees. So I am getting stronger than I thought!

And Jodi--yes, those contra press ups are tough! By the third set I am dropping to my knee. I confess. The workouts get progressively harder. #1 is intermediate but #3 is advanced. Do you hate skydivers yet? In #3 I swear, it makes me smile because even Mark sounds resigned to having to them yet again. He is clearly not enjoying skydivers by the third workout!

This week is pretty much all RwH for me except for Saturday and doubles workouts (doubles are still YAYOG), then next week I'll end the month mixing EFX/YAYOG/Mobility Rx with RwH--and throw in a day of Les Mills Pump.

Today will be LIHI Back, Biceps and Shoulders, and RWH lo impact.

I may throw in a YAYOG this evening if I have the energy as a first attempt at doubles.

Today was STS Total Body. Wow! It's been some time since I've done a total body workout with heavy weights. I was definitely feeling it by the end!

Jen, yes, those skydivers are killer! I have such terribly flexibility in my upper back and back shoulder area so keeping my arms up and pulled back for that length of time is so tough. But is is nice to hear Mark huffing and puffing right along with me on those!

Oh, and good for you on all those decline pushups on the toes!!

I did RWH chest, shoulders, and triceps this morning. I love this shoulder exercises in this one. Something about upright rows that makes me feel good! :)

This morning is decided to do PRS #2 because I love that step workout and haven't done it all month so far. I also just finished the live workout Lean Lower Body and loved it. I liked it better than the live butts and guts which was my second fav. live lower body workout from Cathe. I'll probably finish this evening with some yoga to stretch everything out.

Rest day

I guess it was time to take one even though I was going to do a workout this morning if it weren't for the fact that I've had a headache since yesterday and didn't sleep well last night. Yesterday I participated in a walk for Right to Life and afterwards there was food so (oh no!) I ate 3 brownie/bars sweet things and a cup of hot chocolate. After that I developed a headache. Do you think it was from all the sugar???

Elaine, I agree, I love the shoulder exercises in Chest, Triceps and Shoulders too!

Firemedic, ahhh PRSs are so much fun! Why don't I do these fun ones anymore? :) I wish I could do doubles sometimes but I'd be too worn out to do the next morning's workout.

Jodi, Jen and Sara, my gosh I'm so curious about Mark Lauren's workouts now. :D

Just finished LIHI chest, shoulders, & tri's. I usually do lifting a little later in the day, so I felt a little weaker and had to lighten up on the 3rd set of some of the moves. But I had to get it done now since I don't think I'll have time later. If I do get some time later, I'll fit in some quick cardio and abs.

Will do Hiit Lower body circuit with abs this morning. I tried one of YAYOG workouts last night. It was the beginning one and not hard. I can see how they can get really hard as you increase though. I'll try for a walk this evening and plan to do another YAYOG tomorrow or Thursday eve. It's fun to have something new and different to try.

Sara--I really enjoyed the Novice workouts, too--even tho they weren't challenging. They didn't feel like a waste of time tho. This week is the intermediate workouts. I'll let you know how much of a jump it is. I read on his blog that the jump between levels on the YAYOG DVD is a big. So I'm a little nervous for the Advanced ones! But that's not till next week.

This morning I did KCM Trim Down - Workout 1

I'm not feeling the energy today and this workout was quick, effective, and fun. It had a nice shoulder emphasis to it. I just could not face Plyo HiiT today. For two nights now I have not slept well.

Today was my choice of cardio since I don't have Cathe's bike DVDs. I reached for an oldie and did Jillian Michael's Kickbox FastFix. Also added on a segment of Stretch Max since I'm feeling a bit sore from EFX and STS Total Body.

This morning was RIHI Legs + Abs 1. Planned doubles is YAYOG Intermediate #2. I did Intermediate #1 yesterday and it is definitely more challenging and intense than the Novice workouts, but not killer either. I enjoyed it.

Today I'll do HIIT Circuit Upper Body, with Abs. I keep going back and forth as to whether it's better to work through the routine and then do the abs or to do the premix where they are intermixed with the circuits. It seems like the point of the circuit is to sort of blast the area and adding the abs in between offers a little break.
I most likely won't have time for another shot at the Novice YAYOG today, but am planning for tomorrow. I got the book from my library last night and it adds a lot to the whole program.

I was wondering the same thing about HIIT Upper Body premix 5. I do love it so much but then when I did the regular workout last week and added abs onto the end--it seemed much more intense. So I started to wonder if it was such a good thing to have a longer break between the HIIT and the strength. But it's such a bonus to be able to do BOTH bonus ab workouts in one workout all broken up like that. I don't know.

I love Mark's books. I've read Body By You and am halfway through YAYOG. I like that I am starting with his DVDs, but I eventually want to graduate to doing the book programs. I have his app which works in conjunction with YAYOG book and is pretty comprehensive. I need to get an ipad or something similar so I can, at some point, use the book/app for doubles workouts. But that is still a few months down the road.

I know what you mean about the premix 5. I really like abs 1, my heart rate stays up but abs 2 slows it right down.

This morning I did RWH Legs. I hope to get a core workout in later tonight. I didn't have time this morning. I love working out in the morning, but I am not a morning person. I have to get up at 5am to get my workout in. Real hard when your naturally a second shift person. :(

Today was Upper Body Circuit premix #5...so funny you all are talking about it. I was wondering the same thing if it's a good idea to do that premix every time, but I do love getting all that ab work in. Maybe next time I'll go back to the regular workout and add the abs at the end to compare.

This morning was Plyo HIIT #2 extreme premix #2 + STS Extended Stretch. I still think Plyo HIIT #1 is harder than #2. I did Plyo HIIT #1's extreme premix on Tuesday--that one starts with Plyo HIIT 1 and ends with #2. Tough, but the hardest one is out of the way first. Today I did the premix that starts with Plyo HIIT #2 and ends with #1. I was having a hard time getting through #1 when it was the second one! I got through both #1 then #2 fine on Tuesday. Even this morning #2 was no problem, but then wow! I was struggling with #1 in the second half!

Anyway! Planned doubles is YAYOG Intermediate #3.

I agree, Plyo HIIT #1 is harder for me too. I've done the premix where you do both 1 and 2, but not with 2 first b/c I wondered if 1 might be too hard after 2. Nice job getting that done. I think I'm going to use it as a marker of improvement, b/c I have to take breaks with Plyo #1. They are fun though, and being short makes them less scary starting out. :)

Today I'll do Party Rockin Step. I haven't done this one in a long time b/c I don't find it very hard, but today I'm looking forward to an easier wo as yesterday I had to fight the fatigue. I realized I have a meeting tonight so I'm hoping to fit a YAYOG wo in, but it may not work until tomorrow.

Thursday... :)
