Ripped with HiiT January

RWH Chest, Triceps, and Shoulders
I did the premix without finishers, went less on some of the weight, and skipped the Abs scheduled for today. I forgot to set my alarm and slept a little too long and then I wasn't feeling the power for my workout. Ugh!

I hope you all have a better time with your workouts than I did. :)

Today was Too the max, no compound weights premix. Just finished LIS Cardio supersets. My forearms and biceps are still burning from yesterdays LIHI back, bi's, & shoulders. Still getting DOMS from that one.

Yesterday, was HIIT Lower body premix #6. I really like the abs done this way. A lot of times I skip the abs, when it is at the end. Today is a bit hectic, so I am using today as my rest day and hopefully I will do RWH back, shoulders, and biceps tomorrow. My glutes are feeling yesterday's workout. :)

I did RWH HiiT Circuit Lower Body this morning.
WOW I was going to do Abs at the end but I just didn't have anything left. I had to pause to catch my breath more times than I'd like to admit. I've only done this workout once before and I think I used one set of risers. This time I used two. I may go back to one set next time! Using the step has been very hard since my injury. I need to build up calf strength. It has been such a slow process. I STILL cannot do a single leg calf raise on my right side. This is my first day of Month 2 of RWH. I think it's going to be one tough month! :D

Yesterday was a rest day. Normally on Saturdays I only have access to a treadmill, but there was a change in my schedule so I took the opportunity to try workout 1 from EFX. Very interesting and different workout. Not the hardest thing I've ever tried, but I did like the focus on form. I would say complex 1 got my heart rate up, complex 2 got me breathing hard, and complex 3 got me sweating. Also really liked the long stretch at the end. I'm interested to see what workouts 2 and 3 are like.

This morning was HIIT Upper Body Circuit premix 5--my favorite! Loved it as usual.

You're doing great Mary! Recovery is a long slow road--but successful if you take it slow and listen to your body. I remember a few months ago when we were all doing Cathe's bodybuilding rotation, you could work upper body only! So it must feel good to be using your legs again!

Jodi--I love EFX. In fact, next week I'm changing up my rotation for 3 weeks: RwH, EFX, YAYOG and Mobility RX--the last 3 are all Mark Lauren workouts. There will be a little Les Mills Combat thrown in, too--but the rotation is made up primarily of RwH and Mark Lauren workouts. I'm excited. Because after that, things are going to get a little crazy. I am trying to work through all of my new programs I own but I haven't tried yet. So I have been combining them into hybrid rotations. February is Tapout XT 1&2 + Insanity Max 30 + STS Total Body. Then March is Les Mills Pump + Asylum + lots of kettlebell workouts. I end it all with P90X2 in April.

We'll see if I stick with it! But that's what I have mapped out. After that I want to do a series of 2 week rotations by trainer; for Cathe it will be by series: RwH, Xtrain, Hardcore/Gym Styles, Low Impact and 4DS. Then two weeks of other favorite trainers: Ilaria Montagnani, KCM and Michelle Dozois. Tho KCM and Michelle Dozois might need two 2 week rotations spread out--like Cathe, they both have to many awesome workouts to fit into a mere two weeks!

I have way too many workout DVDs I love. It is so hard to decide what to do and when. Then I try to balance it by alternating lifting heavy, then lifting lighter (endurance) and swap back and forth.

This morning was LIS Athletic training. My biceps were still a little tight from 2 days ago of LIHI back, bi's, & shoulders. Just finished RWH Plyo #2, which for me is the hardest plyo workout. I'm not sure when I'll try any of the extreme plyo premixes. I'm going to try an get in Great Glutes extreme premix tomorrow before things get to busy and hopefully another cardio in the pm. I'm into week 2 of the RWH/LIS rotation even though I'm not keeping it all low impact. I've been enjoying it so far, esp. mixing the heavy weights with the lighter LIS weights. My legs and butt are always feeling strong and tight ever since I got the RWH series because I think no matter what workout I choose, my lower body never stops, so added bonus there. But I've been trying to do a lot more stretching because of that and am feeling pretty good so far.

Hope everyone has a great weekend:D

After two weeks of taking it pretty easy, then this last week of RWH all week I am feeling serious DOMS today. I did the LI premix #2 this morning and am stiff as a board. Since I don't often get DOMS it's kind of nice to feel the work. I keep chuckling to myself when I push myself up off the couch, or bend to pick something up. Will probably take a rest day tomorrow and then start the January rotation on Monday.

Today was LIHI Back, Bi's and Shoulders, and I also added on Ruthless Hardcore Arms & Abs. I am already feeling sore! I really don't like doing the pullovers with the one heavy dumbbell - very uncomfortable on my shoulders - so I tried it today with two dumbbells. Much better, really felt it in the lats.

Also, my butt is sore from EFX yesterday!

Today was only Great Glutes extreme premix. Since I haven't done this one in at least a month, I'm already feeling the affects in my butt and it's only been 10 hrs. I agree with the 2 dumbbells for pullovers, it's much better. I realized that during Cathe live, it also helped me realize my weaker side so I could focus even more. I even like the 2 dumbbells for standing tricep extensions instead of 1 heavy dumbbell.

Sunday: RWH Low Impact HiiT One + Bonus Abs Two
My shirts fit again -- about a month ago I was totally surprised when my non-stretch shirts were way too tight in the arms and shoulders. (I don't wear them very often, I like knits.) Was that because of doing Body Beast??? I don't know. This morning I thought the workout was going to be easy. It wasn't! One time CTS felt easier, the next time it was really hard again. Wow, I need to work through Month 2 of Entirely RWH Rotation and see if anything gets easier. Month 2 looks like it's going to be harder because of the additional circuit workouts! I wonder if X77 will be a breeze after next month. :D;)

Jen - Thanks for the encouragement. You're right, I've come a long way and I'm able to enjoy the workouts while progressing along. I'm putting together a possible hybrid rotation for summer with new programs too - Tapout XT + RKS + Kettlebell Kickboxing Body Series with a weekly Cathe TB thrown in for good measure. I also just got P90X that I want to do this year. ... And I want to do Body Beast again adding in shorter workouts from Ruthless, KCM, and Tracie Long Focus series. My whole year is pretty much filled-in with plans already (but subject to change). ;)

Sara - So sorry you're still feeling sick. I hope you're feeling back to normal soon. :)

This morning I did RWH back, shoulders, and biceps only two sets and finishers. I had a time constraint today .

Sara, sounds like you have what my husband had. He was feeling better after being on the meds ( same as yours plus a cough suppressant with codeine) for 2 days. Hang in there and take it slow.

This morning was EFX #1 and planned doubles is YAYOG Novice #1.

Sara, I just got over some cough and congestion. I still have a lingering cough. It lasted about a week. My husband however has it and has been fighting it much longer. I hope yours is short like mine!

Starting the January rotation this morning. so PLH1 + X10 Cardio Blast. X10 is a work of genius and here it is showing why once again. It is so easy to add it to another workout.

Hope everyone is starting their week feeling stronger and healthier.

Jengollf, why the doubles? Do you have a specific goal? How do you fit it in with work, kids, family.,,,the list goes on and on.

Had a time constraint this morning and couldn't decide which RWH low impact one to do, so I did the low impact #2 premix that does the first half of each workout. Came in around 27 mins and totally got my sweat on and my heart rate up before getting the day going.

Sara--I just always do doubles. I have for years. In the beginning it was more of an addiction to cardio. I had to have cardio every single day. So if I did strength training in the morning I felt compelled to do my cardio in the afternoon. I've gotten past that (tho I still feel the need for intense cardio several times a week), but now I do it because I work a sedentary desk job 40 hours a week. I feel one hour in the morning doesn't make up for 8 hours on my butt all day. So I come home and get in more movement. Plus, I like to workout. I just do. It's fun and challenging and it makes me feel better to do it. And finally, I have a lot of workouts that are around 30 minutes. A lot. I have even more workouts that are closer to an hour. Since I work out an hour in the morning, I frequently find those 30 minute workouts neglected and I don't like spending money on something that I love then never using it. So doubles enables me to use all of those shorter workouts.

As for how I fit it in? Priorities. I make working out a priority in my life. I put it ahead of many other things because it is important to me. that's why I have always gotten up at 4am to workout--when I knew I would have no interruptions. Everyone else was in bed. Plus, my kids are both grown and no longer living at home (ones in the air force and ones in college). I didn't actually start to do doubles until they were both in high school tho. However, they knew that when Mom was working out, that was her time and unless it was an emergency whatever they needed could wait until my workout was over.

We have so much in common. I totally get the priority thing. I get up at 4:45 for that same reason, but finding time in the evening is the hard part. I still have 1 little at home, so evenings can get pretty busy. I'm a school counselor at an all Kindergarten school, so I'm pretty much on my feet ALL day long, but I see what you mean about that much sitting. I also have struggled with the "addictive" quality of aerobics, so I get that too. I also LOVE To workout and have done it nearly every day for the last 30 years. It's only been in the last year that I would slow down enough to try weights and I am in love with them too. Cathy makes it so super fun. I'm so glad we have her. Hope your week is great!
