Rested mothers and their sweet babes 2/28

Morning ladies! No action last night....oh well. My fault mostly cause of AF plus DH got home late from Grandma's and I was just tired.... I'll just keep a'keaglin! :p

James fell asleep on his own this AM! Dh was up with him about 530a and J was laying in his crib playing while I was gettin ready for work. I noticed he had been quiet so I kept checking on him and he was on his side looking at his hands. Next think I know, DH comes out of his room and said he was asleep. No fussing, nothing just passed out. My little guy is growing up... :( I will still swaddle him at night but start working on letting him sleep without for his naps.

Lisa- James was a horrible sleeper at Reese's age! I just let him do his thing and he started to figure it out on his own. I've never stressed over it or "forced" anything on him. I don't know if that has helped or not but it sure helps me. :D She'll get the hang of it soon. Just try and take naps when you can. You are much better than I was at this point because I was NOT working out when James was sleeping, I was sleeping! :D I think once you can get some more sleep you will see a difference in your weight. Also like Mel said, if you want to post your meals we can help. I know in the beginning when I wasn't getting enough to eat I hung onto the weight.

Well AF is here full force! I felt pretty good this AM when I woke up and then BAM! Backache and cramps! :( I took Tylenol and feel better now. What a week this has been and its STILL not over. :) Can't wait for the weekend to get here so I can workout HARD!

Melanie- Sorry about DH and DS1. I hope things are better for you guys today. I want to take James in the bath with me too but would like to do it when DH is home. I worry about the slippery baby thing too! Hope you get a nice long run in outside to clear your head. Oh and I forgot to answer you....we are using Similac right now because we had a lot of it given to us but I will eventually go back to Target brand of gentlease. James seems to do fine on whichever brand but since Target brand is cheaper I will stick with that.

Priscila- Glad we could help! That is what is great about this forum! I so look forward to "talking" with everyone everyday. I have withdrawls at work when I am busy. Especially if I have a lot to share! All this talk about Chalean, I can't wait to "borrow" them from Christine! (If she'll still let me ;) )

Susan- Wow! Sounds like Kara did good with sleep! I'm with ya on the weights vs cardio! I just feel so strong after lifting. Plus I like to "see" my muscles pop after lifting weights. It's funny cause I used to love cardio more.

Hi Allison! Hope you got some sleep and got in an STS workout!

Alright back to work....Check back later!

Susan, it is important for K to get hind milk,...but with my singletons I always fed off both breasts per feeding. I would estimate 1/4 of feeding on 1st breast (or just enough for fullness to subside), then while he was still hungry quickly shift to breast two for completion. That way he got the hind milk from breast two. I don't know if it really matters....but it might help with engorgement from breast that's not being used during that feeding.

I"m going to run outside about 1130. I"m scared running outside when it's so cold. It might really suck. No guts no glory, right girls? I'm going to do it!!!

Hi gals!
Lisa- We are all warriors of the sleepless nights! I was with you at 2am online on my phone. I was laughing because I saw that you were online! So, here's to you! One thought, if baby sleeps longer with hubby, and less with you, could it be that baby smells your milk and it creates a restlessness? That was a problem with me for my first. Also, I have had GREAT success with the heating pad technique. Maybe even put a slightly smelly shirt of your hubby's under a blanket on top of the heating pad. The warmth of the pad will feel like a body adn the smell will be like the daddy... We use the heating pad here. I took it out this weekend after two FLUKE nights of sleep thinking we did not need it anymore and am putting it back in today (after being up every other hour last night). One other thing, John hates being swadddled, but sleeps best when he is swaddled up tight. His arms are the death of sleep. Keeping those suckers at bay is helpful. One thing, I was working out whenever john napped, and have finally learned to sleep instead, and it is helping some with weight loss. I am not someone who posts my food because I am too lazy to keep track of what I eat, adn it is nowhere near as good as Susan and Melanies colorful healthy choices (think chicken nuggets and skittles). But, from posting we have all been able to look at calories and food choices with a fresh eye and it helped. Melanie has been throwing out the pounds like crazy by increasing calories! I have decided not to weigh myself daily anymore, and will do it on friday mornings (before weekend bad eating and beverages!). Keep up the hard work, give your body a few days off! Also, make sure that you are getting enough protein after working out, maybe your body is catabolizing muscle just to get through the sleepless nights. Melanie uses a protein powder I think.
Mealnie- So sorry to hear about the house hold stuff, GO FOR A GREAT RUN MOMMA! I have to take Jimmy to swimming before 9 so I am hoping for a run later. I got almost 10 miles in yesterday, so if I take today off, I am okat with it. Melanie- there is a water baby bjorn, designed for wearing the baby in the pool, you could find one cheap I bet and wear the girls in the shower... Yes, you are probably right that DH just does not want to have to be on bath duty. What if you bathed with one girl one night and another the next? I have some extra swim safety stuff, like inflatable vests. I remember seeing you at a lake or something over the summer, want them for your kids? The girls are too small now but will use them later. They are new. Jimmy can already swim and we cannot use them for john because anything like that can cause him to bruise from teh chafing against a consistent spot. Boo. Let me know. I will toss them in with the baby food processor.
Susan- Kara sounds like the sweeetest baby ever. And a darn good sleeper. Thank you for the recipes!!
Priscilla- How are you doing? Thinking of you today!
Jen- Of course I will still lend you the Chaleans... If you can copy them quickly, I can get them to you a little sooner, and just take a week off of her. Let me know. Hope AF is givin you a break this morning. Good little James on getting to sleep. He sounds so mellow and sweet. Mine are more like screaming monkeys at the zoo. they are cute when they sleep.
Got to get the kids fed and changed to get to swimming. Poor Jimmy, it is 40 degrees out. I feel bad popping him in the pool, even though it is covered. I will take him out for a hot chocolate after (and a venti coffee for me!). He is such a good swimmer, my little pisces. My hubby is going to be in Philadelphia for a week for some graduate program at Wharton. Although I am proud of him, it will be a miracle if he gets home and I hav enot set the house on fire and drinking rocket fuel. He leaves Sunday morning.
Awwwwww, I just looked down and John is looking at me and smiling and laughing. THat kid. Drives me insane but I love him. And I agree that although I go nuts with all the screaming and no sleeping. But only a mom can do it. And that is what makes us all so special.
oh, one thing. Last night my son Jimmy got out his bunny rabbit who he says is his baby. He dragged the pack and play in his room and put in a pillow nad blankey. He swaddled up bunny and we peeked in and he was pretending to open a can of formula and pour it in a bottle, and feed bunny. HE was so cute. He woke up this mornign and told me that bunny did not need to cry or eat all night and that bunny would teach JOhn. Bunny is currently wearing a size 2 Papmers and in the vibrating chair. So cute. :D

STS gals- Are you having to ammend the STS at all? I do not hae a pull up bar, does she show how to adjust for not having all the equipment? I talked my hubby into doing STS with me, but he is concerned about not being able to complete the exercises as intended. I read the whole manual yesterday adn she does not talk about it. Also, did you do the 1 rep max on all exercises or are you winging it?

Sounds like there were some good baby sleepers last night!

Thanks to everyone for your food and sleep thoughts. I have a heating pad on my shopping list. The whole breastmilk thing and her waking did cross my mind when I was sleeping with her, which is why we now have a nightly fight over the bassinet. It's tempting to let DH sleep with her all night, but I know that won't solve the problem. I wish I enjoyed this stage, but it was the only age for Caden that I really didn't enjoy.

I'll track my food and post it. It's definitely not perfect, but my calories each day shouldn't have me gaining weight.

Jen-when did James' sleep start to improve? Caden was an awful sleeper, but was sleeping in his crib at around 8 weeks (though he continued to wake 1-2x until he was 1). 1-2hrs of sleep at a time+being up each tme for at least an hour makes for a long night, but I know you have all been there!

Melanie-good luck on that run. brrr!!!

just walked 4 miles then K got up...will be warmer today so we willf or sure go for a walk!
Christine-I have no pull up bar...so far Cathe has just done 2 sets...I have tubing to sub...and I did NOT figure out my 1rm...im winging it!

ok K just pooped and I feel a warmth escaping from her diaper....Im scared to look

bbs

Nice walk, Susan. Hope that diaper wasn't too bad! Reese 'powerpoops' every 2 days. ugh. would much prefer several 'normal' ones each day that stay IN the diaper!

I see facebook talk. I spend more time on there than cathe.com, since my phone is a bit more facebook friendly. PM me if u want my info to add me. If not, I won't be offended ;). I love using facebook to keep up with the moms on another chat board.

ok poop disater cleaned up!
Chrstine-Jimmy and his bunny awwwwww..that is the sweetest thing. Hope bunny is a good teacher for John!
Melanie-have an awesome run!
Lisa-I had major sleep issues with my first, Haley. Mainly becasue I worried and fretted all the time..about what it could be. This time I have been sooo relaxed about it and Kara is doing good. Its good Reese smells you and wants to be with you. Shes is only 4 weeks and she will want to nurse less as she get older.
Kara is protesting me sitting here big time..bbs

Christine- I will set aside a block of time to copy them and get them back. I just hope it will work cause Insanity wouldn't with the program we had. The bunny story is so stinkin adorable! And your comment about your kids being like screaming monkeys LOL at work and then I had to explain it to my friend who asked. :D

Lisa- James started to improve sleep-wise around 10-12 weeks if I remember correctly. He has slept in his crib since about 3 weeks old. It was important to me to start that early no matter how many times a night I had to get up. We also swaddle tightly because his startle reflex woke him up. I noticed that once we started giving him a formula bottle before bed is when he started to sleep longer. I'm on Facebook, Jennifer Rowe Napier if you want to friend me. :)

Susan- Glad the poop disaster is averted and you got to enjoy the weather!

Back to work! BBL!

I got Insanity to work with mine. If you wanna send to me, I can take care of it. :p

5+ miles of running bliss outside today! It was fun! I also did some ab& upper body strength work. :) I feel like a million dollars!

Jen- Let me know if you want me to send to Melanie . That works great, I am sending a package her way tomorrow.... Let me know nad I will pop them in (and then Melanie gets it too, win win!!!!).

OOhhh yes yes! Can you do that? Mel if you could do both w/o's for me and I will just mail you a stack of blank DVDs or money! :D

Kara and I just walked 2 miles outside. She loved it! I faced her forward so she could see everything. I can tell my shins will be sore tomorrow!
Melanie-glad you had a great outside run!

Could you send to me, Christine? I'll send Jen a PM with details. :p I can have them back to you within a week so you won't miss out of on them. Are you sending out the whole set?

Yes, enjoyed the run lots. I really needed that endorphin rush. I got to use my garmin forerunner! It does calculate calories, but I forgot to wear the HR monitor around my chest, so not sure how it calculated it or how accurate it was. Next time I'll set the gfw to calculate calories for the run & compare the two. lol I feel like such a gadget freak nowadays. lol My knees are already sore though. :( I wore old shoes b/c I didn't want to get my new ones muddy. Now how stupids is that?

Who had the Jillian videos again? Was it Susan or Christine? I previewed a couple of her videos at collagevideo and I think that I might like them. Let me know if you want me to take them off of your hands. :)

i will send whole set and my Jillian 30 day shred for you to check out too. I will mail tomorrow, or at latest monday adn then just turn it around for me! Hooray!
Did Insanity Max Plyo INterval. Woo. I am going to be sore. I tried to do Circuit Blast after, john woke up. Boo. he is miserable today. Some days are just harder than others. He will hopefully sleep well tonight. He gets in patterns with a bad night, bad day followed by good days after. And he is farting hot garbage. It is like the kind of smell an old dog would make if it farted. I am surprised that my eyes are not watering.
Off to try to get kids to bed, may have to crawl in to get them to actaully snooze. I will be reading Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child.
Pizza night. i am taking the night off of resident chef since my children are making me consider jumping from the roof. Or maybe just sitting in my car in the garage rocking out alone. I do that sometimes. You feel like a freak, but it clears the brain. A beer helps too.

I rented a few Jillian w/o's from Blockbuster to preview. I think I might like it for variety. I watched them on collagevideo also. If you want to send any this way I'll be glad to take them off anyone's hands. :p

Christine- Your descriptions are hillarious and so descriptive. I swear I can smell the hot garbage as you describe it! :D I usually run to some heavy metal music, clears my head QUICK! Grab that beer and sit in the car, you deserve it!
