Evening Ladies! Has everyone Kegaled today???
Whew you have been chatty!!! You girls crack me up I swear!!! Kara took 2-20 in naps...that along with errands and gymnastics for Haley etc I have been busy today. Hope I can remember most of what I read.

Melanie-was your chili a keeper??
Jen-no soup today, but I made beef stew! Hope the boobies are feeling better.
Christine-how on earth do you find time to workout so much? I am jealous!
Hi Pricilla-no real plans for sts..I only have meso 1 and I do plan to finish that and go from there.

I promise to keep up better tomorow. K is just gonna have to understand I must come chat with my ladies! I took another bath with Kara tonight..she loves it..she splashes and kicks her feet..has a blast.
Last night she slept from 7:30-1 then til 5:30..not too bad.
ok..I need to get H in bed..K went downa bout an hour ago. See you gals in the morning

Thought I would get a head start on Kara today!
She slept from 8-3..and its nearly 6 now and shes still asleep..not too bad. I still wake up often becasue Im so used to it.
Melanie-I always took a bath with Haley too..she had so much fun. dh is ready with a towel and got haley, gets Kara dressed and ready for bed.
Today is disc 2..shoulders and tri. I still have major doms from disc 1.

I got 6 hrs of sleep last night, not bad. The girls are so happy in the AM, it's neat to see them all smiley....different than the 5-8PM timeframe when it's continual screaming. I'm hoping that we're almost at the end of the colicky period. It seems to be getting a bit better.

Today I have 4.5 miles on schedule. I *might* substitute with a step interval workout. Not sure yet. I also want to do a StretchMax section.

My weight is bouncing back and forth from 138-140. No worries, I've been averaging a 10lb weight loss/month. I just love fitting into all my clothes. Although losing weight is fun, I don't want to get any smaller than I was before b/c I don't want to have to get new pants. lol I like my wardrobe. I sometimes drop below 135 postpregnancy but I've haven't consistently been able to retain anything below that longterm.

Bean & Vegetable Chili
3 Tbs olive oil
1 lb ground meat (lean ground beef, or ground turkey)
1 chopped onion
1 tbs minced garlic
2 small eggplants, cubed
2 zucchini, chopped
2 carrots, chopped
1 cup fresh mushrooms, quartered
4 oz diced chilis
1 can diced tomatoes
2 cans black beans
1 can chili beans
1 can sweet corn
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp dried oregano
cilantro for garnish

1. Heat oil in large pot over medium heat, add meat, cook until brown
2. Remove heat & drain off all but 3 tbs oil
3. Head pan over medium heat, add onion & garlic. Cook for about a minute & add veggies. Cook about 10 minutes or until veggies start to carmelize.
4. Add tomatoes & beans to veggies (I added all the corn & bean syrup)
5. Bring mixture to boil & cook about 15 minutes (I just added everything to crock pot and put on low all day).
6. Garnish with fresh cilantro (I LOVE cilantro). :)

This soup is so flavorful & cram packed with nutrition & fiber to keep you energized & full for a long time. :)

Melanie-nice job on the 10lb/month weight loss each month! My scale is still stuck, even though I am eating better and moving more. I'm only down 2lbs from where I was the first day home and have 7lbs to go. It doesn't sound like much, but it feels like a lot since the scale hasn't moved in 3 weeks.

I got a decent night of sleep, thanks to DH taking Reese when she woke at 1am. I slept from 10 to 3:30...without waking! Unfortunately, she only spent 30 min in her bassinet since she sleeps with DH when he takes her. We have only 4weeks to get her to sleep the whole night alone, as that is when I go back to work and don't wan't to be dealing with co-sleeping at that time.

It's 40 degrees here today, so yay for snow melt! :)
 
Lisa~ I normally have blocks of weight loss dispersed with weeks with no weight loss. It's strange. I'm so happy during my three-four lb loss weeks, but not so happy when scale doesn't budge (or goes up). As long as there is a weight loss TREND you are headed in the right direction! 40 degrees, huh? It's amazing the temperature difference within the same state! We're still below freezing up here! lol I'm putting your envelope in the mail today.

I'm off to visit my homebound friend this AM. *maybe* if weather gets a bit warmer I will try to run outside. I have such cabin fever!!

Christine, thanks for your kind comment. You are really sweet and to read that this morning was just what I needed. I got all emotional this morning, because for some reason I gained almost 2 pounds (the same 2 I lost during my first week of CLX!!!!) Did you expeience something similar?? I hope it's just temporary but I'm back to 145 lbs and have been there for the last 3 weeks. ARGGGGG
Can someone help me figure out my caloric needs?

I'm 5'5", 145 lbs, nursing and working out 5 at least 5 days a week (I normally burn 500 calories on average)
What am I doing wrong??????

Melanie, I'm not sure I want to nurse that long, I want to nurse until he's 6-8 months, but I'm so sure I dont want to do it cold turkey. My respect to you Jen!!

Susan, I only remember the kegels when I read your post LOL I'm bad like that.

Lisa, I hear you on being stuck in the same weight for 3 weeks. I'ts just killling me. I'm driving DH crazy, he has memory problems because he thinks I look the same as when we met each other (i'm 15 pounds heavier now)

Allison, where are you?? is everything ok? Oh, I get it, you are too busy with your DH after the flowers LOL I'm cracking myself up

Ok workout done! Kara was my audience for the last 10 min. She just stares at me and then the tv trying to figure out what I am doing lol. So far I LOVE the format of these workouts! I will walk with Kara after lunch.
Lisa-great on your sleep! I still wake up at least every 3 hours. Last night I thougth I heard her at 1 so I got my pillows set up to nurse..I fell asleep athat way and was all cramped up this morning haha. Hope you are feeling better. How is Cadens booboo?
Melanie-have a nice visit! Do some kegals on the way! When dh is in the mood you want to be ready for him:p

:mad:Urgh. Got ready to go to friends, Woke girls up. Changed them (b/c babies ALWAYS poop right before you go somewhere). Packed up some banana bread & soups for my friend. Got in the car with two screaming babies. Drove to the end of the driveway. Got a text from my friend, she forgot it was pj day & she had to drive pjs to her son's school won't be back until noon. URGH!! I could kill her!!! So much for being "homebound" and feeling sorry for her. She wanted to come over at noon & I said "no, I workout then, remember". It's not like my DH is sitting at home all day waiting for me to workout....I have a sliver of a timeframe to do it. Urgh! I could kill her!!!!! :mad::mad:

Precila~ I too had weight gain here & there. It is most frustrating. A couple questions. How are you figuring your caloric expensure? Since I have this go fit wear thing I've noticed that I typically burn 350-400 calories per hour I workout. When I run, I burn about 100 calories/mile. I'm keeping my calories at about 1950 calories in & 3000 calories out. With this deficit I am losing about 2.5lbs/week on average. 3500 calories = 1 pound. Muscle weighs more than fat...so if you are building muscle, you may weigh more inititally until your muscles start eating more calories at rest.

I really want to run outside today. I"m a bit of a chicken though. What if it's too cold? Urgh. It's only 20 degrees right now. I think I'm going to have to wait. Yes, I'll wait. 4 mile "easy run" followed by stretch max. I feel very hungry today. I hope that doesn't mean weight gain tomorrow. :confused:

Melanie-I would be PO'ed to if my 'homebound' friend did that. grrr!

I think I need to tinker around a bit more with my calories. 1800ish may be too many for my activity level and lack of milk production. I wish I could just workout more, but time is not on my side. It's still too cold for me to take Reese outside for a walk, but she'd probably protest anyway since it would require her being in her car seat
 
Melanie, I'd be mad as well. It's a bit on the rude side, I think.
Can you tell me more about the go fit thing, do you have to plot everything you eat there? Sounds interesting 2.5 lost pounds per week is what I need now, I'd be in shape in 1 month
 
Lisa~ I think a good goal would be a 1000 calorie deficit. I initially was at a 1500 calorie deficit/day and not losing weight at all. I wasn't even hungry, but forced myself to eat more calories....once I did I was able to lose weight again. All our bodies are so different, it's definitely worth the effort to learn what works for you. I wouldn't drop too low on calories when nursing....esp if you're having milk production issues. I just started taking fenugreek again (4 caps three times daily) b/c DH is giving about 1.5 oz more/girl per shift than I'm pumping. I'm pretty anal though. :p
 
Oh I forgot to say that I have a PolaR HRM and it shows that I burn 400-500 cals per hour depending on the workout. I too burn about 100 cals per mile
 
I didn't know that polar monitors did that, calculated calories burned! That is awesome!! Mine is a cheaper monitor that just does HR (but was traded for 2 FIRM VHS back in the day). lol

The gofitwear calculates (and plots) total calories throughout day, sleep hours, & steps taken. There's a program you can buy monthly that will help you figure out your nutrition calories....but I'm thinking it's not really worth the 12.99/month when you can plug it into a free program. www.bodymedia.com is the outfit that produces them & software

I am angry at my friend. I'll get over it though!

I love my HRM, it also shows the calories burnt from fat as a percentage of the whole calorie burn. It also gives you weekly and monthly averages etc. It's helpful.
Off to find some more about go fit

Temp is 52 and sunny...if it get a tad warmer Im taking K for walk. Lisa, thankfully Kara doesnt mind her carseart. My first dd, Haley, was like Reese..hated it!

Had broccoli soup and some turkey for lunch. Does anyone know how to avoid nitrates in meat?
Ok off to take advadtage of nap time!
 
It's crazy...I work at Macy's, yet somehow can pass up so many tempting things to buy. BUT...start talking workout things here (now the gofit and the HRM), and it's time to hide my credit card!

Susan- as for the nitrates in meat, there are nitrate free meats. Hormel makes prepackaged turkey, ham, and roast beef. It says Natural on the package.
 
Lisa-thanks! I actually just did a search for nitrate free meats and the hormel brand popped up. Thanks so much! I wish we had a Macy's close to us. Im pretty sure there is not one in Little Rock. My dh got me a necklace from Christmas from Macy's..:) I am the same way about workout things. I ordered 6 new workouts yeterday! I have been hearing about Ellen Barrett and wanted an easy workout for off days so I got a couple of hers...then I got a few new Tracie Long workouts and the new Walking Strong from Tracie Staele. Now I just MUST have a new hrm..lol
K has been asleep fro 1.5 hours...yaayyyyy her!
