Rested mothers and their sweet babes 2/28

Hi gals. Whew. Not sure if I can keep up with your yesterday...I get so far behind on your chats when I'm not around. I think i have to just pick up from where I"m at. LOL

Susan, "retinoids" are considered unsafe in pregnancy; however in nursing it's a gray area. Very little/none is absorbed systemically. I use a small amount of RetinA on my crows feet & my 'age spot' on my face. I did NOT use it when pregnant, but feel safe using in during nursing. I use it every other night sparingly.

I got my twin clothes lot in mail yeterday. I've attatched a photo of this blessing. They are ALL MATCHING & in excellent condition. My internet twin friend lives in FL and her twin girls are a year older than mine. I got the whole slew of them for $200....as you can see an entire wardrobe for 3-6 months. I'm in awe. This is the second batch I've purchased from her...I think it's going to be a lifelong adventure!

Today I'm going to visit a homebound friend this AM. I'll be back later. :)

Morning
I'll try and type but Kara is in my lap..we'll see how long she lets me type.
Melanie-thanks for the info! Wow what a great deal on the clothes! Have a nice visit with your friend..I hope she is not ill.

Allison-I only have Meso1...I prefer muscle endurance so I only got that part of STS.

Jen-sorry for your rough night. I nursed Haely so long (3 years)and cut down so slowly that I never had a problem

squirmy baby..bbs

Good morning!
Susan-no, I didn't get to my abs, so I will TRY to do a longer ab workout today, as I don't think I have it in me for my run. I have a nasty cold. If I'm feeling better later, maybe I can twist DH's arm into watching Reese for a bit while I step. Yes, I'm breastfeeding Reese, but I'm having to supplement as well. I had the same problem with Caden. Reese seems to be increasingly unsatisfied just with me, so I've needed to give her more formula. :(

Allison- how nice of your DH! Caden LOVES day care, so it makes me feel a bit better about sending him. Whenever we mention going, he heads to the door with a smile on his face!

Jen-sorry to hear about your painful night. Hope it improves soon!

Have a great day everyone!

Susan, you must have a 5th sense or something....my friend's son is sick so we aren't visiting. LOL It would have been nice to visit, but I really have alot to do. I worked my tail off this AM to make a new veggie-bean chili recipe I found in Runner's World.....so I'd have time to visit. Since I"m not going, I'm ahead of schedule. LOL I'll post recipe if it's good. It has black beans, zuiccini, eggplant, mushrooms,....etc in it. Yummy. :)

I have three days off. I really enjoy working just 2 days/week. It will be hard to go back to 3 days/week. Oh well.

I'm awaiting DH's plans for the day so I know when I can run. Christine, where do you buy those gels from? I'm thinking since I"m burning more calories (with nursing twins) that I'm going to be hungier during runs? I want to play around with different energy sources. I'm reading a book on Runner's Nutrition: An Athletes Approach to Eating. I really like it alot. I hope it'll help me tweak my diet to increase lean muscle mass so my total body fat % will decrease.

Jen- YES YES YES, Motrin works much better. I would take it and if you are worried about hte runs, have a banana or enjoy the runs with less painful boobies! I have been through this scenario twice and am so sorry you are having to endure it. I am not a huge pill popper, but you really need to take motrin and get a pain pill for sleep. Be cautious for any fever or chills or red lines that might indicate mastitis. I got mastitis the first time I shut down the cafeteria with my first son. Do you have Target? The boobie ice packs are in teh nursing pad section. The cabbage takes a few days to kick in. When I weaned on John, right after birth when my milk came in, it was awful, because I was in the NICU all the time with him, and all the crying babies would cause me to let down all teh time. I was so annoyed. Try the ace bandage too. Keep the girls secure. You will look and feel like porn star boobies but they will go away once your body gets the message!

melanie- here it is.. i know you are on amazon prime, so thought this would be easiest...

allison- what is with our hubbys lately? hooray for flowers! I cannot believe that the bachelor chose that trashy broad. she is such a cheesy whore. oops. just sayin...
susan- john is back to getting up twice a night like haley. i enjoyed the 2 nights of sleep, oh well!
lisa- glad that daycare is a opisitive experience for you and your family! with two under two, you need it!
have to run, mommy and me cooking today and it is storming. blah!

As always, thanks Christine. I will run out to get Motrin and some more cabbage at lunch. :D

Melanie- That is awesome about all the twin clothes! What did you end up doing with the newborn stuff? I have a friend that his wife is having twin girls and we are all trying to pitch in and help them out financially as much as we can. Do you have any websites for her that helped you?

Lisa- Sorry about the cold! Hope it goes away quickly! I had to supplement with James after two months because he wasn't getting enough. That's when I went to exclusive pumping and formula. You are still are doing the best thing you can for Reese! She still gets your milk and that is better than nothing!

Hey Susan! Any soup today? I'm thinkin of making a wild rice soup I found a recipe for. If it's any good, I'll post it.

BBS are okay....I think I'm getting used to the pain. I have a pretty good pain tolerance once I have pain for longer than a day. Aggravated that I can't run or do any high impact cardio this week. Will do GS chest and tri's tonight and hopefully an ab workout if James cooperates.

Jen, I saw your message about stopping BF, go to your local health food store and get sage tea, it will dry up right away. It usually takes 24 hours, but make sure you dont want to continue at all because you want having any milk.

Jen- Yes, the sage tea does it. I coul not find it at mine when I was going through this, which is why I did the ground sage in V8.
Lisa- Girl, I like this. I did Imax 3 today adn then realized I had told you I would check out the Chalean cardio. I did Fat Burn Challenge (Whew, the thigh section makes Cathe's firewalkers seem easy!), and she has someone in front doing the low impact version of everything, and she worked as hard as anyone else. This is probably right up your alley. Jen- this might be the cardio change that you are interested in...
Got to go. Having movie time with jimmy while john sleeps.
BBS!

I so want to try the Chalean videos but can't justify the money right now. :( Maybe if you try them out and tell me which ones are challenging I can buy them in the smaller sets???

Looks like my dinner tonight will be cabbage, V8 and sage....:p

Good idea, and yes, it is a lot to spend. Maybe when I get tired of it, you could borrow it and burn it...

Christine-so you did 2 workouts today? Whew!

I was able to get out of the house today to get some groceries. Yes, that is a big deal to me! Since Reese hates her carseat, and I don't need her throwing a fit loud enough for the store to hear, DH watched her.

The fresh air made my head feel a bit better, so I did some abs and then got in my 20 min jog on the treadmill, brought to you courtesy of a little girl who decided to take a short nap in her crib today. I continue to work on getting her to stay asleep in her crib or bassinet, and SOMEDAY she'll decide it's not so bad sleeping alone for all naps/nighttime.

I'm crossing my fingers for some good sleep tonight (which, at this point, I define as getting 2hrs+ of sleep in a row), so I can kick this cold.

OMG Jen, I read your post and I'm definetely NOT looking forward to it. Mine get really engorged when I don't have time to pump at work. Thanks ladies for all the recommendations, I may have to get the tea and everything else and maybe plan it out for a weekend. I hope you get better soon.

Lisa Marie, I've done CLX cardio and she has 1 or 2 modifiers all the time. She does few drills like jumping jacks, jumping rope and burpees but I modify them all and still feel the burn. Sorry about your son's accident and mommas need their time form time to time ;)

Allison, that's really sweet that you got flowers. DH is not into bringing flowers home. How is it going with STS. I may do it after I am done with CLX. I have the set and I haven't even opened it yet, well just the plyo legs.

Susan, I'm interested on hearing your plan with STS as well.

Melanie, what a bargain and I'm trying to save Daniel's clothes just in case I convince myself to have another baby in the near future

No workout for me tonight, I'll be going to church, tell the story later.
I have to record biggest loser tonight
Waves to all

I've been incredibly busy today, not sure why!

Jen, my girls are still in newborn clothes. I donated my preemie stuff to NICU at hospital girls were born in. When are your friend's girls due? I can let you know when I'm ready to get rid of my NB stuff.....I figure on selling it for 50% off what I paid. ;) They are over 9lbs now, so it won't be long. Hope you're getting more comfortable...shouldn't be more than a couple days.

I hear you on Charlean thing....it sounds like something I *might* like, but can't justify the $ right now. I just ordered a replacement wedding ring....my itsy bitsy diamond fell out of mine when I was pg. I'm getting a cheapy from QVC! Ha Ha It look REAL & won't tarnish or anything. Shhhhhh. My little secret! I got coupons in mail from Cathe today & it includes free shipping on $30 or more....i might have to get those 2lb hand weights I"ve been looking at.

Lisa, Christine is amazing. She works out like that all the time! I hear you on sleep. None of my babies have been great sleepers. I get anywhere b/w 5-6 hours sleep/night.

Susan, what are you up to today? Hi Allison & Precila!

Today I did 4 miles of hills & a bunch of super dooper hard core work from Runner's World. I can't wait to feel my abs tomorrow. :D

Lisa- I know it sounds like a lot. I run with the kids in the jogger in the morning, I give the older one a game or music or we talk. The baby just screams when he is awake, so we pray he sleeps. I do not make kids who sleep. This weekend, they both slept through the night and it turns out it was not the beginning of a new thing. Just a fluke. LIke Melanie, I think I get 5 or 6 interrupted hours a night. It takes forever to get John down, then he gets up at 2 and 5 to eat, which means having to re-swaddle him adn rock him forever. Jimmy then hears us and needs me to soothe him. I hear you on just trying to do what you can when you get the opportunity. On days when the baby stays asleep, I just keep putting DVDs in. I know it is bad because I let the older one watch shows and stuff. It makes me happier, so I try to do it when I can. The days when I get to do nothing I am a bear.
Like Melanie mentioned, she shows adaptations in all the videos that I have on teh Chalean extreme. Weights too, she uses light dumbbells or bands or heavy weights, so it is easy to modify. She is very sensitive to making sure that alignment is good and taking care of the joints... How is yoru son feeling?
Jen- How are the tatas. Might be a beer on a schoolnight for you. i am so sorry!

Priscilla- YOU LOOK AWESOME! I saw the great photos on facebook, you look so great and are simply shining. You and Melanie have looked particularily radiant these days. I want some of whatever you two are having! I look like shoe leather.

Susan- Have you fallen in the soup pot and cannot get out? Miss you.
Allison -How are you and drew today?
I have screaming kids today. Got to go play legos before making dinner. I think I am going to make chicken and roasted veggie wraps. It is Biggest Loser night, woo hoo! It always makes me take more responsibility with cooking. Rain in the forecast for tomorrow. Blech. That means no run. We will see. If there is a break in teh clouds, I will take it!
Oh, and bummed. Got my period today so weighted in super heavy. I think I will wait a few days till I lose the water weight before hopping on the scale again. It might also have something to do with the chocolate caramels that I have been snacking on.

Oh I don't miss Aunt Flo!! I flow so heavy! Urgh! I'll nurse forever so I won't get it. :p (hugs) Christine!

SuzieQ, where did you go? I think she's stuck in the bed doing the Wild Thang!!!

Precila, when I was done nursing I weaned slowly & had ZERO discomfort. My babies were all over a year old though, and nursing just at nighttime by the time we got rid of it. Not everyone goes thru discomfort. They used to give bromocriptine (a prescription tablet) to people after giving birth to help dry up milk ducts. It's still available and used for pituitray cancers and disorders.

My veggie bean soup was really good. I'll post recipe later. :)

Priscila- What Melanie is trying to say nicely is that I am a doofus for quitting cold turkey. :p I think if you wean like everyone recommends then you should be just fine.

Christine- If you wouldn't mind I would love to borrow the DVDs.

Thanks to a friend for a suggestion of Camphor, the taa taas feels MUCH better. And probably the ibuprofen helped too. They are HARD as rocks but at least the excruiating pain has subsided and now they are just tender. Might still take a pain pill for some sleep....we will see.

Got to do GS chest and tri's tonight but no abs. Thinking of doing a pilates video tomorrow and then tacking on some more ab work after. DH is taking James to grandma's so I should get a good long hour of workout time.

Jen, that is NOT what I was implying (sp?)!!! I wasn't really sure what you were doing! LOL I knew you were supplementing, but i didn't know you were ready to stop bfing. :p What type of formula do you use?

I'm going to hop on the elliptical tonight for some extra caloric burn. Lisa, forgive me if I've already written this..but I like to go on ellitpical with a girl in the bjorn for a 4 mile walk in evening. It works great for colic (and relaxes mom too).

2morrow I"m going to try to my homebound friends house again. I hope it's not germ-ridden. The girls big outting is this weekend. They have their baby shower on Saturday & baby dedication on Sunday. Big weekend here. :D
