Push It

Good morning! Last night was a feeble attempt at GS Chest & Triceps. I think my neighbor and I were both exhausted from the busy week. We threw in the towel shortly after the push up sequence. At least we got those 72 push ups in. I have no idea what to do tonight and if we should even attempt weights since Sunday starts the new rotation.

So, I tried the cauliflower cake. I am not a fan at all of how it came out. It even smelled funny while it was baking -- a weird combination of cauliflower and chocolate. I didn't even try to give Tyler some because it was hard enough for ME to eat it! :D Seriously though, I think it might be a lot better with applesauce or canned pumpkin (which was one of CCK's suggestions).

Today is traffic court for the accident that happened in January. My lawyer said she is going to ask them to reduce the charge to a 1 point ticket which would be awesome if they agree. Can you believe that Colorado changed their laws so that you can actually do 6 months jail time for a careless driving charge???? Thank goodness my legal plan through work allows legal services for up to one traffic matter per year at no cost to me.

Natasha
I have tried coconut sugar for baking...it is pretty tasty! Of course, I think I just love coconut period. I am hooked on the oil which is an expensive habit but I like the way it flavors things. Part of the reason for wanting a Vitamix was just to be able to make homemade coconut butter!

Heartymax
Thanks for the info about Turbo Fire being on YouTube. I have been wondering about Chalean's workouts. I think I will look that one up and try it out.

Jennifer
Yesterday while at Walmart I picked up some of that True Lemon lime powder. I was thinking of trying to make Jamie's lemon bars with that instead. Of course after the cauliflower fiasco maybe I should stop with the crazy recipes.

Have a great day everyone!

What a beautiful day - I hope for everyone, anyway. It was sunny and 70! After work today Craig and I played a few games of Blongoball (AKA hoosier golf) - it's a weird kind of tossing game that's a lot of fun. He killed me but we had fun. The dogs had fun, too; their kiddie pool was filled with fresh, clean water and they enjoyed walking through it. Dawn likes to dig in it and splash water; it's pretty funny.

This morning I did Hard Strikes with the Shoulder conditioning drills. I must bet getting stronger because the 3-lb wrist weights didn't feel QUITE so heavy. When I started the conditioning drills I went with 6lbs instead of 5 and definitely not 8. It went pretty well.

I needed some glute work after that so I did most of BB L2 and when she had us do the hip thrusts with a dumbbell I grabbed my barbell and ended up doing 3 sets of 20 reps with 40#s. Talk about burning buns!

Stacie,
Good luck in court! It's great that you're getting legal service through work - what a nice benefit!

Cool - Glad you found some true lemon:)

Toni,
I forgot to mention - wow - it's amazing that you already sold your elliptical so quickly after posting it. Very nice:) I love it when things go according to plan!

Tash,
Have you gotten your new bench and weights yet? Do you have to help him move? Surely you want to help him move it right along:D

Today I saw one of the geese chasing a goose and I thought there was going to be a fight! Talk about aggressive! We didn't feed them that's for sure so maybe they were arguing over a spot in the pond.

Later, peeps

Guess who got Body Beast in the mail yesterday?. Since Amazon.ca was having a deal on 1/2 price express ship, I had to take advantage :D. Funny thing is that my Everlast boxing gloves (which I ordered like 1 month ago ) are being shipped today . I hate shipping here in Canada .

Ok, so my official Body Beast rotation starts Mon, but I just had to do one of the leg workout yesterday . I previewed all the discs btw, and I really LOVE what I saw . I'm picky when it comes to weight-work too, so that's sayin' something ;). So here's the scoop:

Workout:Build Legs 35min
Trainer: Sagi (Mr.Israel 2X-apparently he took the natural root and chose not to take steroids). So this guy is very easy on the eye's ;). Past the good looks though, is actually an excellent trainer who knows his stuff. He is a stickler on form, always correcting and viewing the background exercisers. He actually thought me a few things that I didn't know, which surprised me (ha, ha, like I thought I knew everything right?). The one negative thing about him is his "cheesy" lines. He is funny and charming no doubt, but after the 50th time of saying "Beast" and referring to himself as "The Beast" I was rolling my eye's a lot. But I can get past that cuz' the program looks awesome .
The Exercises: Holy cow where to I start? Simple and old school gym style lunges, squats, step-ups, elevated lunges, plie squats, deadlifts. However the way they are sequenced took this w/o up a few notches. Drop-sets, super-sets, increase/decrease in reps and weight #'s, calf work interspersed w/ab work (nice touch btw).
The Result: Tough, powerful, sweat-inducing. I started to feel DOMS about 8hrs afterwards. This morning I'm having a hard time walking  and sitting on the toilet. Anyone wanna lend me crutches?;)

Stacie
LOL on the cauliflower cake incident :D. That is a pretty weird combo, actually. I have made cakes with black beans and chick peas, and both turned out excellent, but I can see how cauliflower would be kinda weird .
Fingers crossed that court goes well for you today!

Jennifer
Your outdoor game of Blongoball sounds so fun! Glad you, Craig, and the doggies were able to enjoy the day outside :).
YES I got the bench! Mark's friend is not moving yet, he is just getting rid of some of his stuff.
What a marathon w/o you did on Wed!!! OMG great job!!! Are you feeling DOMS?
Congrats on getting stronger with HS . Upping your weight #'s in that conditioning drill section is awesome!

Heartymax
You are so good for doing w/o's while on vacation!

Hello everyone....glad to have made it to the weekend :D Thursday was Intensity. Everything except the bonus bootcamp. Plus hip thrusts, but I only had the energy for 50 of them at 25#. I really liked this workout. My legs were still a little fatiged from GS Legs two days before, but I was able to make it through and I'm glad I did :) I'll be doing this one often. Love the intensity of the workout and the impact is not too bad at all.

Yesterday was 4DS UB Pre-mix. I was about to give the workout a bit more this time. I did 20# chest flys  I was super excited about that. I upped my shoulder work also. And I think I need to buy at least 1 25# dumbbell for one arm rows. The 20# were really too light. I'm going to add that to the list for the next month!!

Tasha
That's great news about BB!! I hope you enjoy the program.

Jennifer
I can't wait until we get some warmer weather here. We are still a bit chili.

Stacie
You are much braver than I. No way I would have even attempted to try cauliflower cake

Have to run....have a busy day!!

Hi everyone!! I am back home and so glad to be back. DH sister will have surgery next week. They have confirmed her colon cancer but we are thankful that it had not spread to any organs.

I just finished 45 minutes on the elliptical. It's supposed to be sunny and nice out today. I have many errands to run to get ready for the work week. Plan to make a nice healthy grocery list. DH plans to start working out AGAIN. I'm glad. I just wish he wouldn't take off several months.

Toni---- I like the step and lo Hiit Premix from Intensity.

Tasha--- your new workouts look interesting.

I plan to figure out my plan for the next 30 days. Eating was pretty good during my time away. I had a slice cake on Easter and some ice cream after the movies on Friday so that wasn't bad.

Have a great day everyone and I hope your weather is nice too!!

Good Sunday morning to you all!

I bought the Strong Curves book by Bret Contreras and Kellie Davis; I had to order it on Amazon - it should arrive Tuesday - because the local Barnes and Noble didn't have it:( I thought about getting the Kindle version but I like to keep my fitness library stocked and share the knowledge with my friends. After all the blogs and newsletters I've read by Bret since finding out about him via Cathe I know it's going to be an awesome read:D

This morning I did Cross Train Xpress UB split - that is one tough workout and I LOVE it! Since it's an older one I definitely went much heavier on some of the exercises than what Cathe and Crew used.

Yesterday I enjoyed Intensity Step (2 risers) followed by some Low Max (3 risers) including the warmup and combos/blasts 1-3. I tried to do the Premix 1-4 but after the 3rd I was just wiped out. I also enjoyed some of my Kindle book Whiskey Sour while sitting on the patio, and for dinner I made my best batch of potatoes ever - small red potatoes with the skins on, boiled then drained, added pepper, some salt, garlic, and butter; then I used the electric beater on them.

Tash,
Sounds like a fantastic workout! So glad you already received the workouts! I checked out the program on Beachbody and wowza - that guy is BUILT and VERY nice to look at! Lots of hard work went into him that's for sure:cool::cool:

Heartymax,
Welcome back home - sounds like you had a great vacation. Glad you have a beautiful day to come home to.

Toni,
WTG on upping your shoulder weights and the 20# chest flys!
I hope the weather warms up for you soon.

Stacie,
It is too bad about the Cauliflower cake. Ingredients are not cheap. Maybe you'll get some new ideas on how to make it better. I think some recipes do get better with practice and trying new things.

TmJ,
Hope all is well!

Have a fantastic day, everyone!

Well the weekend is over  Today was HC 101 Oct(no leg work) + HiiT 30/30. I think I discovered the secret to making sure I get my core work in....do the core FIRST!! I don't think I would have had the energy to attempt the HC if I had tried to do it after 30/30. I am really glad I went ahead and bought the HC 101s. They are 12 shorter HC workouts. They make a really great add-on to a short cardio workout. The one I selected today was on the dreaded ball  That extra balance challenge really works the core even more. And then there was 30/30!! That was my first time with that workout and my first really high impact workout in over 6 weeks. It was awesome!! I certainly needed a wee bit more rest than Cathe allows for, but I finished it all. I really liked that not EVERY move was super high impact. Certainly allowed me to rest a bit. I'm not sure I'll ever build up to 40/20, but I felt like I have a good start :) Oh and I did not do those awful air jacks...subbed them out for air jumps :p

Jennifer
Intensity on 2 raisers and Low Max on 3 :eek::eek: I bow to your leg endurance!! Now that my legs are getting stronger, I would really like to build up their endurance a bit. I'm hoping spinning will help with that.

HeartyMax
WELCOME HOME!! Glad to hear you had safe travels. My husband keeps saying he's going to workout, but so far nothing. He's done much better with his eating though and he's managed to loose weight that way.

Have a great week everyone!!

Hello Ladies!

Sorry for being MIA lately. I was away Wed-Fri and decided to take it easy on Sat and Sun. I'm so tired lately, I don't know what's going on. Trip was ok but as always it's hard to be away from home. I did get to read a few books while I was away. I highly recommend Night Circus by Erin Morganstern - it was really fantastic!

I need to plan out my week. Today is going to be KPC.

Turbofire on youtube...tell me more. I haven't been able to find whole workouts there. It might be a little fast paced for me but I've been looking at it a bit considering how much I've liked Cathe's kickboxing.

Toni - Great idea on doing the Core work first. It's true...I'm usually too tired at the end of the workout to do Core well.

Jennifer - Awesome workout! Jealous that you were able to read outside - it's almost warm enough to do that here but not quite.

Heartymax - Welcome back! Sounds like you had a great trip. Sorry to hear about your SIL.

Natasha - Congrats on BodyBeast. Wow, the instructor is tasty! Glad to hear you're enjoying it.

Stacie - So glad to hear that Tyler's new teacher is great! I swear the teacher makes all the difference...M has been sooo lucky in this regard. There are some teachers out there that you just wonder why they chose the profession. I know that I don't have the patience for it so would never go that route.

Ok ladies, have a great day! Off to workout!

TmJ

TMJ---just do a search for Turbo Fire on you tube. There are several clips but there is one full workout. I think it is the Turbo Fire 55 Inferno or something like that. I am trying to figure out how to hook up my Iphone to the TV and do it from there. Something is wrong with my connector so I have to look for my other one. I want to do the workout from the TV so I can see the moves better and see if I want to invest.

Jennifer---You are a warrior!!! Using 3 risers:eek:

Toni---Did you join a HC club in order to purchase the 101 workouts. I just don't recall seeing those. Maybe I need to go back and look at the website. I know I don't want to pay a monthly fee but I would like shorter workouts.

This morning was STS Disc 1 Chest, Shoulders and Biceps followed by the core section of HC vol. 2. By skipping the warm up, leg work and cool down I think the workout was about a 20 minute add on or maybe less. I have decided that my body needs a round of STS in preparation for the summer so I am gearing up for the 3.5 rotation.

Hello everyone :)

Saturday's w/o was XT Back/Shoulder's + STS TB compound back add-on (total time 45min). I was supposed to do XT Chest/Back/Shoulder's, but Today's w/o will be Body Beast Build Chest & Tri's, so I bi-passed chest so I would not be DOMS'ing or fatigued. So far I have previewed all the discs and I'm really pleased with the program. I'm a toughie critic when it comes to weight-work (Cathe has me pretty damn spoiled) so for me to be impressed is sayin' something.

Yesterday was grandmother's 80th b-day party. I've attached a pic of Bella playing with her cousin. The pic is just so beautiful. I hope you all enjoy it :).

Heartymax

Ahhh  a round of STS! I love how split weight-work get's me in such great shape. I think that the main reason why I am gravitating towards Body Beast right now. Last year at this time I also did STS.
BTW, I'm sorry to hear about you SIL having Colon Cancer. I'm so happy to hear it has not spread.

TMJ
Glad to have you back :). I'm glad you had a nice trip. I always find vacations exhausting! You most often need a vacation from the vacation .
LOL on Sagi being "tasty" :D. I feel myself getting a bit distracted sometimes .

Toni
Congrats on the #20 chest fly's and upping your #'s on the shoulder work!

Jennifer
What can I say? You are a warrior! I can't believe you upped your risers for Intensity and LowMax! And yes, yes, I know you're tall  but still!
I absolutely LOVE small red potatoes! I make them all the time! YUMMY :p.
I'm going to check out the Strong Curves book :).

Stacie

Hope you had a good w/e :)

Heartymax - Thanks, I'll look for it again. Did you find the workout frantic? The trailers look fun but slightly frantic.

Natasha - Unfortunately not a vacation but a business trip to sunny Wisconsin. Honestly I've been there 3 times and I want to go either in real spring or summer -- somehow they always send me there when there's snow on the ground. I bet in the warm weather it's beautiful!

Good morning ladies! Friday night was an Afterburn premix, Saturday was a rest day, and last night was TBT. I did do a small amount of jogging Saturday night while walking the dog and I realized how much I missed it. Once it gets warm again (and stays warm!) I would like to start up again.

Yesterday I made a sweet potato chili that was super tasty! If you ever come across a recipe like that, definitely try it out. I did make a few modifications though. I was looking at comfybelly's recipes again. She has a donut one that looks interesting. Of course, I have been thinking about trying to make a protein donut. I'll let you know if I come up with something good. By the way, the cauliflower cupcakes wound up getting much tastier. Apparently it has to set for a while for the cauliflower to soak up the chocolate. The recipe is still not my favorite but it did taste much better the next day.

Court went well too -- thanks for all the finger crossing! My ticket got dropped down to 2 points and the judge really reduced the fine. It went down from nearly $200 to $48. Whew!

I think I have a girl crush on Tyler's teacher. I opened his backpack on Friday evening and there was a handwritten note on one of his handwriting assignments that praised him for doing such a great job and that she was so proud of him! He had even drawn a picture of a cow (which would have been frowned upon by the other teacher -- his doodling was often pointed out as him not focusing on his work) and she commented on how nice it looked.

Finally, I was looking at YouTube videos that compare the Nurtibullet to the Vitamix. Most of them say the Nurtribullet does almost as good of a job as the Vitamix on smoothies. The Nutribullet is much cheaper though -- $100 (and I can get it down to $80 with a 20% off coupon from Bed Bath & Beyond). Definitely looks interesting...of course the appeal of the Vitamix is the long warranty (which becomes a lifetime one if I buy it from Costco).

HeartyMax
Welcome home! I'm glad you had a safe trip!

Toni
I was thinking about you a lot during the weekend. Are you doing ok since this weekend was the move out? I was kinda worried about you...

Natasha
Hooray for Body Beast! I'm glad you are enjoying the program! Does it use a combination of barbell work and dumbbells?

Ironically, a couple of listings popped up on Craigslist for Body Beast last week! There hadn't been any for months -- and I have been checking since last year. We'll see if I can snag one of those. It's still fairly expensive on ebay -- lots of competition.

I read the Walking Dead comics this weekend and boy are they crazy. I made it though editions 1-48. They are absolutely brutal. I was surprised they are listed for Young Adults. There's a ton a gore (WAY more than the TV show) and lots of sexual depictions...some of the drawings even have the characters naked! I was really surprised! It's a good story though and they have me hooked. The events in them are quite a bit different than the TV show.

It sounds like you had a really nice weekend and Happy Belated Birthday to your grandma!

Jennifer
Intensity with 2 risers and Low Max with 3??? Holy moly! That's sounds like quite the workout!

Have a great Monday everyone (well...as good of Monday as you can!).

Hey everyone!! Today was Burn Sets all UB premix. It's a bit long at 78 minutes, but it's so totally worth it  I felt like I got a great UB workout. Every muscles was fried. I have weak wrists generally, but they were sort of sort the last couple of days so I opted to use the barbell for under handed rows and bicep curls. I'm happy to report that I was able to use a 30# barbell for the bicep curls :D My weak link right now for getting my biceps stronger is my wrists and my forearms. Luckily heavy lifting engages the forearm so they should continue to get stronger as I continue to lift.

I am also happy to report that I recovered nicely from HiiT 30/30. After my last try at Tabatacised I was worried that my back would be out of whack or that I would be too drained to workout today. But I was fine and will be ready for leg day tomorrow. This week I'm doing legs twice and I haven't quite figured out what I'm going to do. I am supposed to do XT Legs tomorrow, but since I just got all my new DVDs today it's anyones guess!! I will probably stick with XT Legs because I won't need to lift any heavy weights, which will give my UB a nice rest.

My spin bike arrives on Thursday...whoot whoot!! My husband will put it together for me this weekend, so I will be spinning next week at least once :D

Stacie
So sweet of you to think of me :) The move went well. We made sure all the kids were gone so that they didn't have to see any of it and both places were put together by the time everyone got home. My husband and I work incredibly well on everything except this kid issue, so everything from splitting the finances to deciding which furniture he would take to picking the apartment was easy. We actually rarely argue. And honestly, I can only think of one argument that we've ever had that didn't involve his ex or his kids. Any time I tell a friend that he moved they are in shock because we do get along so well. We talked a bit about the issues with weekend since we didn't have any kids around. No real break through on anything, but we are both quite sure that we do not want to get a divorce and we are really looking forward to an outside person coming in to help us out. The objective point of view should help. Our first session is on the 20th. I'm out of town this weekend so we had to wait a week. Not sure I ever mentioned it, but my husband travels for a living so we need weekend appointments.

TMJ
I love KPC....I need to put that into my rotation some time soon :)

HeartyMax
I'm not a part of the club, I just ordered the 101s for year 1. There is a link on the screen for the club. The option to purchase a year of the hardcore workouts or the 101s(or both) is under that link. The 101s are just as hard as the volumes. And honestly, they are just as much work because there is no warmup or cool down on the tape. Just 30 solid minutes of core/leg work.

Tasha
I hope you enjoy Body Beast today!!

Hi ladies!

Thanks for the cheers on the extra risers:D It was hard and I felt my legs the next day but only enough to notice that they worked.

This morning I did the cardio portion of Slide and Glide and then moved on to Leaner Legs; I'd not done LL before. I REALLY like that one! There is not a lot of rest between exercises; sometimes I wanted to say a few curse words because as soon as I put down the barbell to rest she was having us pick it up again:rolleyes: Plus, the reps seemed to be a little slower which really helps me; I think because I have a longer ways to go before I can get down and back up. Anyway, I felt all of the work in my glutes and that makes me happy:D

TmJ,
Welcome back and enjoy KPC! I hope your weather gets warmer soon. This has been an interesting Spring that's for sure.

Thanks for the tip about the book - I wrote it down for future reference:)

Heartymax,
I also am sorry to hear about your SIL though it is a blessing that it hasn't spread.

I hope everyone's settled back into routine mode:)

Tash,
I'll have to go back in to see Bella's picture (I still have to reply to this thread in a round-about way) but thanks for sharing it; I'm sure she is darling! Is she excited about school, by the way? I know it's still a ways off but she knows it's coming. I hope your grandmother enjoyed her party!

I agree, if someone with a weights program can impress us Cathe fans then that definitely is saying something!:D I'm looking forward to hearing about the chest/tri's - and if you forgot to do any reps due to daydreaming;) I forgot to comment earlier... I think that all of us know so much about exercise so it really is cool when we hear something we didn't already know:cool:

Toni,
Nice job on 30/30 and then HC abs! Sounds like a awesome workout. I'm so glad it felt good, too, and didn't bother your back.

How did everyone like their vacation?

Stacie,
NICE - 2 points and $48. So glad that worked out:) And also that the chocolate cauliflower cupcakes got better! I bet that was a nice surprise:D

Afterburn is such an awesome workout, and I'm glad you were able to enjoy some jogging on pavement instead of snow!

It's great that Tyler's teacher is so good; congratulations! How sweet that she even liked his cow:)

Have a super evening!

My calves are in DOMS. I am trying to figure out why. The elliptical from Sunday? Monday was upper body and then I did HC. Could it be the burpee move off the step from HC that just topped off the calves from the elliptical? I don't know but I am feeling those babies today. Just finished All Out Lo Hiit.

Toni---I will have to go back and look at the HC website and look for the 101s.

TMJ---Yes, Turbo Fire is definitely crazy with energy and all over the place. It is very fast paced. The music is thumping and kicking which is always what I like when it comes to my workouts. Cathe has a few workouts (Shock Cardio for example) where the music is not good and it is hard for me to reach for those. I love my Cathe's LIC music though.

Jennifer- After 3 risers your legs could manage slide and glide??

Stacie---So nice to hear that Tyler's sub teacher took the time to give him some praise. I often find that experienced subs try to go out their way to make a difference in students others find challenging. Trust me-----it gets the principal's attention and other teachers talking and that sub will become most requested for long term positions. Glad to hear that they have made a connection and things are going well.

Tasha---I agree with you about being picky about my workouts. I pretty much do Cathe only and I may venture out to try a few new things now that I have discovered my You Tube clips. However, I don't think I am interesting in trying the weight work. I love Cathe's cueing, encouragement and sense of humor in her workouts.

Thanks for the prayers for my SIL. She is having surgery today.

Gotta run and pack my lunch.

Yesterday's w/o was BB Build Chest & Tri`s + 4 mile walk throughout the day. Holy $/%& was it ever awesome . I literally finished the workout and could already feel DOMS! My chest and tri`s were scrreeeaaamming by the end. Nothing fancy here, just good ol`hard school gym style exercises with drop-sets, giant-sets, super-sets. Just enough push-ups to challenge you but not kill you (ahem- STS M1). This program is impressing me already, and I have only done 2 discs so far. I'm also really impressed with Sagi (the instructor). His queuing, form, instruction, motivation, sense of humor, ect. If anyone is interested in this youtube interview with him, the first 15min are excellent! I found it quite motivating and informative: Beachbody Live wtih Body Beast Trainer - Sagi Kalev - YouTube.
Anyway, super, super DOMS today in my chest & tri's! I love the way weights makes me feel so strong, confident, empowered, powerful. It is truly an amazing feeling. Body Beast ROCKS!

Heartymax

Prayers for your SIL today.

TMJ
A friend from my check-in is from Wisconsin. Sorry, for some reason I thought you went on vacation .

Toni
Congrats on increasing the #'s for barbell curls! That's .
I'm glad your back is feeling ok after 30/30. I'm slated to do the BB hiit cardio this week, but I might opt for 30/30 instead. I still need my Cathe fix ;).

Stacie
Yes BB has a combo of dumbbell and barbell work (the EZ bar). I'm thinking of getting one -- they are not very expensive. I think if you find a good deal on BB, it is worth every penny! Excellent, excellent, weight training program. I don't say that lightly btw. I am certain that in 4 months, I will have some serious muscle def .
Tyler's teach sounds like a total sweetie! How cute of her to point out the doodle cow :). I'm glad they both like each-other.
Happy to hear court went well! Yipee on the 2 points!
I have been wanting to read TWD comics too! All these things I want to do, and so little time :(.
Thanks for the idea about the sweet potato chili. I am def going to try that :p.

Jennifer
I wish I could lend you the BB leg workouts . I did it on Friday and I'm still feeling DOMS . I can't remember the last time I felt like that -- it must have been with any of the STS M2 leg workouts.
Leaner Legs is from CTX right? I heard they call that one "Meaner Legs" LOL .

Have a great day everyone!

Today was XT Legs(standing, chair, floor). I think my legs are getting stronger. The last time I did that workout I was to tired by the time I got to the last move I couldn't even think about doing it. Now I can do some of them...although I still don't consider using that 5# weight  I really need to work on my muscle endurance. Maybe I'll tack an endurance week onto what I'm currently doing...not sure.

I've previewed all my new DVDs and my oh my did I get some good ones. I am loving the look of LBB. I'm going to do that one this Friday for my second leg day. I get all the sliding pulsing moves, a little plyo, plus some barbell work. I can even add some barre if I have manage that  I'm also liking the look of high reps!! I've already added that to my cardio focused week.

Tasha
Glad you are enjoying Body Beast!! Maybe next year I'll look at that one ;)

HeartyMax
Praying things went well with your SIL.

Jennifer
Everyone had a good time on their vacation. They seemed nice and relaxed when they got home :)

Hi ladies,

This morning I did 40/20! It was a personal best effort:D After that I did the Hotflash Ups/Downs workout (abs with standing and plank work); it was a nice addition.

Tash,
So glad you are lovin' your workouts! I would love to borrow BB's leg workouts; Thanks! My address is... just kidding :) as Toni said, maybe next year I'll look into them. I've heard of an EZ bar but I don't know much about it. The only thing I've heard is that it can help anatomical positioning for those who have a hard time with a barbell.

Right now I really am working on my buns. I received Bret's book today; looks like his program uses a lot of equipment I haven't heard of before... bumper plates, iron gym, texas power bar, cook bar, trap bar, ab wheel (which I just got rid of:mad:). Bret says he gives exercise modifications for people who don't have such equipment accessible - good thing! I still have read the preceding chapters but some of the exercise pictures look amazing. I'm SURE I'll see some results.

I need to log out and look at the picture of Bella! By the way, I just started listening to the interview - thanks for posting it!

Toni,
That's awesome about improving on Xtrain Legs! Your legs will be ready for your hike especially with all the new workouts... and the spinning will improve your cardio for sure, and leg endurance. When do you go on your hike?

Have an awesome evening!

Good evening! A massive snowstorm was supposed to hit us so the schools were shut down and everything. It turned out to be not that bad at all. Tyler could have totally went to school today. Instead, I worked from home and he stayed here with me mostly entertaining himself.

Yesterday we went to Target and I noticed that the Bob Harper set I got was on sale. So, I returned the original one (thank goodness I hadn't opened it) and purchased it again at the cheaper price! I also picked up a JM's Ripped in 30 and Yoga Meltdown for only $7.75 a piece. They had a Billy Banks Tae Bo one too that looked interesting for the $7.75 price as well.
The dumbbells are also on sale in case anyone is interested!

Last night's workout was Cardio Supersets minus the bonus step. I think next time we'll try add on the step portion or some core work.

Two thumbs up for CCK's pumpkin bars...I made a batch this morning! They were very tasty even though I screwed up left out half the pumpkin.

I'm glad that the move went well and that you two were able to talk. I think it's wonderful that you both want to work things out. I really loved how you both worked together to get things settled before the kids came back. I am really hoping that the counseling will get you both on the same page regarding his daughter.

How excited are you for that bike to get here???? That's awesome that you were able to get it so quickly!

Great job on upping the leg endurance as well! Way to go!

Thanks for the great Body Beast reviews!!! Did you take before and after pictures by any chance or do any measurements? I don't know if Beachbody does this but Rushfit actually will give you a free t-shirt if you send them before and after pictures. Of course, you have to consent to allow them to be posted on their website as well.

I meant to tell you that the Vikings is really good. Now that TWD has ended for the season it's my favorite show -- even over Spartacus which just hasn't been the same since the original actor who played Spartacus passed away.

By the way, the picture of Bella was absolutely adorable. She is just a cute little girl!

E gads...Hiit 40/20...those workouts are just plain crazy. Are you doing it has part of your own rotation or are you doing the one Cathe released to prepare for summer?

That is a bummer that you never get to go to Wisconsin during it's best season. I heard it' really pretty there in the Spring and Fall. I had a boyfriend a long time ago that had lived there for awhile when he was growing up. I never really knew how his family ended up here in Denver.

How did the surgery go? I hope it all went well and I wish your sister-in-law a speedy recovery. Will she need to start Chemo and radiation as well? Cancer treatments have come a long way...I know three people who had stage 4 cancer and they are all alive and well today. I hope the same happens for your sister-in-law or that she won't need any further treatment other than the surgery.

Have a wonderful evening everyone!

This has been a very busy week! It is supposed to be 90 degrees today----what happened to SPRING??? I'm not complaining though:D.

Yesterday I received the Exemplary Employee award from the school system and board of education. Each school gets to recognize one employee a year and I was chosen by my school principal so I was very excited. It was such an honor to go down to the board to be recognize for all my hard work. I almost in tears listening to the great things that my principal said about me during his speech.

My sister in law surgery went well. She was in recovery last night and I don't have any additional information at this time. DH is not sure of all the next steps so hopefully we will know more this week.

Today's workout was STS Disc 2 Back and Triceps. Summer time is approaching so I am glad that I have decided on this round of STS. I need to lean out a little right now.
