Push It

My pre-order is complete!! I also threw in 4DS, Intensity, and Step Moves  I have been eyeing 4DS for a while, so I finally went ahead and got it. Looking forward to the UB premix!!

With all the talk about HC V1 I decided to do that one today. I used my 5# body bar and it seemed to go ok. I didn't feel like it added anything to the leg moves, but for some of them I didn't need anything for it to BURN!! I also didn't feel like it added anything to the one arm row type moves, but again I probably didn't need anything because my core was on FIYAH!! Still think V2 and V3 are a bit harder(and longer), but this one still definitely worked the core very well.

Jennifer
I forgot to mention that I only did 50 of the hip thrusts because of the DOMS. So not quite as impressive, but I still wanted to get some in because they seem to really be giving the bottom portion of my booty a lift, which is just want I need :)

Tasha
I'm totally with you on doing things with the kids that we didn't get to do as kids. This is the primary reason that take my kids on vacation. I want them to get to see and experience things as kids.

HeartyMax
Have you had a chance to do HC yet?

Good Morning Ladies! What awesome weather we had this weekend. What a great way to spring forward!! MY boys really enjoyed themselves. DH has to work this weekend. I took the boys out of town to see the high school girls basketball team play in the state final and the girls won the state championship. A friend in the neighborhood plays so it was cool getting to watch her last few games as they rolled into the championship. DS14 signed up to volunteer for a K9 search and rescue training. We have been talking about volunteer work as he prepares for college one day. Anyway, I took him to do that on yesterday and basically, he and a few other volunteers just had to use the map and follow the trail and the trainers took out the bloodhounds to find him. He said it was it was very low key, kind of boring---but he did say that he would do it again. He asked me to take him to the volunteer training at the humane society next weekend which was his original interest. I encouraged him to sign up for the other one because this group needs volunteers because they often search for elderly people who may wander away.

Ok---I tried Volume 2 of HC this morning. It is definitely tough, but not as bad as what I was expecting. I was very thankful for the core breaks. Anyway, I did my own modifications using high planks when I needed to. The workout is definitely doable. I added All Out Hiit for a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes this morning. Skipping the cool down on the HC saves a little time and I can get right into my workout since I don't need to be warmed up either.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Good morning,
Lower Body Blast - haven't done that one in a long time. After that I thought of Toni and made myself do the hip thrusts; I wonder how I'll be walking tomorrow! Plus, I'm thinking tomorrow will be upper body only.

Heartymax,
Congrats on your awesome workout this morning! It was a great one!
Sounds like an awesome weekend for sure; K-9 rescue seems like an interesting volunteer program. Very true that those units are needed. The Humane Society is also necessary. An animal lover, your boy is, for sure:)
It's great that your neighbor's daughter made it to the championships and that you all were able to watch her game - cool deal!

Toni,
You actually did mention the 50 reps in your first post but I still think it was impressive! 50 reps is tough and doing it with DOMS is even harder. In fact you inspired me to work Hip Thrusts into my workout this morning - you're absolutely right - they lift the booty like nothing else!

Have an awesome day everyone! Enjoy your workouts!

Good morning everyone! The weekend turned out to be a bust for working out even though I take take some weights down with me. It was equally bad for my neighbor so we are starting the rotation over. Last night was Supercuts minus the Pushup/Situp combo at the end. I didn't sleep well at my Dad was pretty exhausted.

Before I left town on Friday, I did receive the new firewalkers and slide n glide discs for my neighbor. She was super excited!!! I would like to add in Slide N Glide somewhere in our rotation now. I think she would really like that one.

On Sunday, my dad wanted to go for a drive so we went to this place called Bishop's castle. A man (and maybe his father too) decided one day to build a castle for some reason. He has been working on it for some time -- maybe 30 years or so now. Anyway, it was beautiful up there with the fresh snow. I attached some pictures and I hope you like them!

Glad to hear you had fun at the concert and that you were able to get a workout in!!!

HeartyMax
I'm glad DS enjoyed working at the K9 shelter. I personally thought what you described sound like fun but then I have always enjoyed walking through the hills and woods. I hope he does it again!

Natasha
I am so jealous that tried the healthy blizzard!!!! It looks really good -- I bought some ice cube trays from the dollar store just so I could try out that recipe! :D

Btw, I saw JM's Body Revolution for only $87 at Walmart this weekend!!!! That's the cheapest price (other than E-bay) that I have seen it for!!!

Are you still watching the Walking Dead? I watched last night's episode and I really wished that Shane was still alive. I think he would have handled the situation way different than Rick did.

Btw, there is a new series called The Vikings that looks interesting! I have been recording with the DVR but haven't watched it yet. I'll let you know if it's a good one when I do!

Jennifer
I did download the Deck of Cards workout app. I still haven't tried it out yet but I really want to! There are so many things I want to do that I simply just can't due to lack of time. I suppose I could have done that instead of watching the Walking Dead last night!

The blizzard (from what I hear anyway) wasn't as bad as they predicted. Where I was, they didn't even get a drop of snow. It was really weird...20 miles outside of the town where my dad and sister live had snow but not there. They never get snow for some reason. My mom said she got a bunch and she only lives about 45 minutes away from them.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi everyone :)

It was so balmy yesterday! Bella and I went for a lovely 45min walk. She is getting better at walking the majority of the time instead of sitting in her stroller and alternating walking/sitting.

I HAVE to share with guys a premix I made in my blender that has surrendered my entire LB in severe DOMS mode. I call it the Low Impact Ode To The Firewalker . This mix & match alternates AB drills (leg intensive cardio/no planks exercises) with firewalker, stab ball, and discs segments from XT, AT, S&G. OMG MERCY! And I'm proud to say that since I've been doing so many evil stab ball roll-ins, I am now able to do them with one leg high in the air AND keep up with Cathe. That mix was about 40min. And then I did 15min of this:
Exercise TV 10 lb Slimdown Lower Body - YouTube
I want to give credit to Chris Freytag cuz' she is AWESOME! Next time I will do the entire 50min w/o. I'm seriously considering buying her w/o's from Collage, she is that good!

Stacie
The pics are absolutely gorgeous. Looks like you had a wonderful time. We have a castle in Toronto called Casa Loma. They filmed all the X-Men movies there. I am going to take Bella there this Summer . I love historical things like that.
OMG $89 for Body Rev??!! I am going to strongly urge you GET IT for that price!
Ummm, have I been watching TWD? Well of course! You know what's funny, I was thinking since Rick has gone a bit loopy loop, that Shane would have totally handled things in a better way. I really did not want him to die! :(
The Vikings is on my list to watch too! Everyone is talking about it.

Jennifer
To answer your question, my family was paranoid about me getting injured, kidnapped, and sad but true, dying . Nothing to do with germs whatsoever. You know all the school field trips? I was not allowed to go unless a member of my family went with me.
Finger's crossed you get some wicked DOMS tomorrow . Wait, you did LBB -- all those elevated lunges! You are going to def feel it!

Heartymax
I admire what your son is doing. Your boys sound like wonderful kids. And of course, I know you and your DH had something to do with that :).
Great w/o yesterday btw .

Toni
Congrats on the purchase of your new DVD's! You have chosen some awesome w/o's my friend . Every time you do 4DS, think of me because I seriously LOVE that series.

TMJ
Hope you had a good w/e!

I'm rushing for a quick post. My entire body is in DOMS from HC yesterday. I managed a 40 minute premix from Xtrain Legs today. My abs have never felt like this. My obliques are singing hello.

Gotta run.

Hey all!! Yesterday was steady state cardio(non-Cathe). Today was Pyramid UB. I could barely lift my arms after that workout!! However, I did recover pretty quickly. I'll be interested to see how my UB feels tomorrow. My back is feeling much better. I'm going to finish out my month of low-impact and then I'll be ready to add one high impact a week back into my routine. My body is really liking the month of no high intensity/high impact workouts. I recover much faster from my weight workouts the past couple weeks. I like the rest, but I'm itching to do Cardio Leg Blast or TTM :)

HeartyMax
That's exactly how I felt after my first HC workout!!

Tasha
You are seriously making me jealous with these workout blender routines you are doing. I was looking into downloads, but from what I understand the workout blender is problematic on a Mac. So I'm not going to try it yet.

Stacie
The castle sounds lovely. I really would like to go to Ireland or Scottland to see some of the castles there. However, with the prices of international flights these days I fear I may never get there  Right now a flight to London is $1,700...booooooo!!

Jennifer
How was it with the hip thrusts after LBB?

Hello Ladies!

Sorry it's been a crazy week...is it Friday yet? :) Weekend was great. M played well in the tournament and we all had a great time. It was his 8th bday on Monday so we celebrated on Sunday with dinner out (his choice) and a trip to Toys R Us to pick out his present (our tradition).

So far the workouts look like this:

Mon: Day of rest imposed by DST. (5am is hard enough without it being 4am)
Tues: Low Max (it makes its way onto the list every week)
Wed: AOLHI
Thurs: Crossfire
Fri: MMA Boxing

No weights this week. I'm having discomfort in my chest and I want to rule out anything muscular. I have an appt with the dr today so we'll see.

Toni: Interesting that you've noticed such a difference in recovery with Low Impact workouts. Happy to hear your back is feeling better.

HeartyMax: Sounds like you really "enjoyed" HC.

Natasha: Love the Low Impact Ode to Firewalker!!!! I would totally buy that workout! How was your LB after that?

Stacie: The castle is beautiful. Great job with Supercuts....love that one...the only problem is that it doesn't love me.

Jennier: Great job with LBB. That's one of the few that I don't have!

Took the challenge of HC again today. I decided to lower my step to one riser since I was still sore. Maybe I can go back to two in the next few weeks. I still took breaks, but better than Monday.

Toni----I guess that means things are going to get better and I can't give up. With the oblique DOMS, if I clean up my eating I best see some muscle or something showing one day:D

TMJ----Low Max is a tough workout. I remember when i first got it that I just assumed it was sort of "low key" but that is one kick butt workout.

Hi everyone :)

Today is Bella's 4th birthday. We are going to Chuck E Cheese this afternoon . I asked her a few days ago what she wanted for her b-day, and her response was "Lego Batman". No, not the toy, the video game! She absolutely loves Lego Harry Potter for the PS3. I have to make sure I limit her time playing though cuz' that's all she seems to want to do . On the upside, it's not just a shoot, run, jump type game; you have to actually problem solve. It's even hard for me! Funny thing is that the games are designed for 10yrs+ and she's really good at them.

Yesterday's w/o was a 2mile walk + GS Back, Shoulder's, Bi's. For the back work, I'm a bit iffy on doing pull-overs, so I did pull/chin ups (all assisted) on my TT.

Heartymax
Congrats on the ab DOMS .

TMJ
Happy birthday to M!
Hope you get some positive news at the DR's about your chest.
Oh yaaa, I got some severe butt & leg DOMS with that workout I made .

Toni
PUB always paralyzes my UB .
As for the downloads, the WOB can be very glitchy. More so on older w/o's (anything older than LIS). With more and more people jumping on the download bandwagon, I think SNM should really focus on making sure the WOB is 100% compatible with Mac user's too.

Jennifer
How is your LB DOMS??? I wish I could share my blender mixes with all of you here :(. You would have seriously loved the firewalker one I just made .

Good Morning ladies, happy Wednesday!

I way over-slept yesterday so I skipped but this morning I did the Express premix of Afterburn and then I did the Pyramid Down premix for Upper Body. I guess the workout was around an hour -- and it felt great!

Tonight I'm going to socialize with my gym people for Ripped class but I will take it easy and go light on the weights.

Stacie,
The Castle looks amazing - I love the dragon at the top of it! I'm glad you guys didn't get belted with snow. Thanks for sharing the pictures!

So glad the extra firewalkers and slide discs arrived - that will add such a nice change to the neighbor's workouts:)

Tash, Happy Birthing Day! Have a great time at Chuck E Cheese, and please tell Bella that your check-in friend said Happy Birthday!

OMG - your LI Ode to the Firewalker sounds A-MAZING! Very nice job putting together that creation! I'm so proud of the work that you did, girl! The very-evil 1-legged ball roll-ins are a killer and you NAILED it! Keep it up:eek:

It's nice to hear that Bella is walking more instead of riding:D and it's awesome that she is so good at problem solving games. What a smart cookie! It's such an important part of brain development, too. I won't get into it but I'll just admit my upbringing was lacking in that and a few other areas but I know my parents did the best they could. Anyway, keeping her active and engaged is a balance you will happily keep:)

Oh by the way, Tash and Toni, I only got just a little smidge of DOMS from LBB/Hip thrusts:mad: Surprised me, that's for sure, especially since after the workout I was totally spent. I'm going to try to mimic Tash's LI Ode to the Firewalker, and I still need to try some of the Greatest Hits lower body suggestions -- hopefully this weekend but in the mean time there is still the BB add-ons:)

Toni,
So glad your lower back is better; what a relief, eh?! Also, too funny - I did a premix of PUB this morning (as you probably saw my paras above). I guess you had me thinking about it when you mentioned it last week. Plus, someone mentioned that the premixes (up or down) are around 20 minutes; it does make a nice add-on that way when time is limited.

Heartymax,
Congratulations on your awesome DOMS from HC! I'm glad it's getting you so good:eek:

TooMuchJoy,
Enjoy your workouts for the week - they sound great, especially AOLIH followed by CF, and the MMA Boxing is an awesome workout and I think you placed it perfectly. Just the workout itself, even without the ab section afterwards, really works my abs since they have to be kept so tight during the entire workout.

Glad to hear things have been going so well, and happy belated birthing day to you! Nice birthday tradition:cool:

Sorry to hear about your chest; you are wise to stay off the weights. Keep us posted!

Gotta get - have a super great day!

Good morning everyone! I too was hit by the time change bug -- no workout on Monday. Last night we did GS Back, Shoulders, and Biceps. No doms yet...we'll see if it comes later on today. I even went higher than Cathe on a few of the exercises.

Thanks for all the compliments on the castle! It's not as big or as nice as a real castle (they could never shoot a movie there like Nat's castle) but it's amazing that one man did the majority of the work on it!

Jennifer
The dragon is pretty cool...it actually breathes fire. He rigged it up so that it functions like a chimney. If there is a fire in the fire place, smoke and sometimes a few flames will come out of the mouth.

Afterburn plus PUB sounds like one hard workout! Have fun at the gym tonight!

Natasha
Happy Birthday to Bella! I can't believe she's four already! Btw, Tyler loves Chuck E Cheese and Lego Batman too. One snowy day, we took turns playing the Batman game most of the day -- in between shoveling of course!

I don't think I will be getting Body Revolution. I hope you are able to find that same deal at Walmart when you are ready! :D

The workout you created sounds awesome! I'm really jealous about all of the downloads you have!

Toni
Glad to hear your back is feeling better! Congrats on the new DVDs too! 4DS is one of my favorites. I absolutely love the lower intensity step routine. If I am feeling down, it always seems to cheer me up for some reason.

I have been lucky with my overseas travels! I have been able to find some pretty cheap flights! The castles there are so pretty and amazing. I hope you are able to get "over the pond" soon. Btw, did you decide to do the hiking trip?

TMJ
Happy Belated Birthday to M and congrats on his good playing at the tournament! I have always been too scared to let Tyler pick out his own toys at a toy store -- the kid has expensive tastes! ;)

I hope the doctor's visit goes well today and that you didn't pull anything with the weights. The weight free rotation you came up with looks like a lot of fun! Some of my favs are in there!

HeartyMax
Congrats on getting those HC workouts done! They are no joke.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Happy hump day all :) Today was Legs and Glutes. Cathe is crazy with those ankle weights. I can do just about everything except all those inner thigh lifts  I feel like my inner thigh is in one giant cramp!! I have to stop for a couple reps every now and then.

I have some slight DOMs from Pyramid UB yesterday. Mostly the chest. That workout ALWAYS works my chest really well. I seems to get a much better chest workout from flys and presses for the chest than I get from pushups

My new workouts came today!! I can't believe they are here already. Of course I've previewed them all  I must say I picked some good ones!! I LOVE 4DS. The way she laid out the program is awesome and it's so versatile. The heavy weight work looks so complete, but scary  And I cannot imagine doing that UB premix all on one day!! I would be in a major state of DOMS the next day I'm sure. I think I will do that program as designed after my low impact month is finished. I can do the 4 days as designed plus fit in a HC and an extra rest day. I think I'll need it with that program!!

I also LOVE the look of Intensity. And OMG are there so many options with that program. I'm especially happy about the Low HiiT that's included. Depending on how my legs feel tomorrow, I may do the step + Low HiiT. That looks really fun. If not tomorrow, next week for sure.

Jennifer
I may have to try that Pyramid up only premix. Going up and down is a task!! I actually only fished all the reps on back moves today. All other body parts needed a few reps of rest here and there. I also totally mis-judged my chest weights today. I totally forgot I had to come back down the pyramid when I started out

Tasha
HAPPY BDAY BELLA!! I hope you had a good time at Chuck E Cheese. That place can be a zoo at times, but the kids just love it there!!

HeartyMax
I haven't actually seen any muscles yet(diet to blame), but I can definitely FEEL them when I do my HC consistently.

TMJ
Like the rotation for the week!!

Stacie
I have no idea how you go higher than Cathe in GS....good for you!!

Hi Everyone!

I decided to switch out Crossfire today with Intensity (step + lo HiiT). When I looked at the exercises for CF they seemed in a similar vein to AOLHI which I did yesterday. I had planned Intensity for Sunday so just swapped the two. At this point, I don't know when I'll ever try CF.

Dr appt was ok. Heart is good. Yay. Lungs sounded good but she still wants me to go in for a chest xray because it's been so long. She also scheduled some blood work just in case. I took a "hit" off my husband's inhaler last night before bed and it really seemed to help. Honestly I'm relieved it's not heart related.

Heartymax: Great job on the HC.

Natasha: Hope you had a great day with Bella. She sounds like my kind of girl: lizards and Lego Batman and pink!

Jennifer: Superwoman! Afterburn in the AM; Ripped in the PM? Holy moly! Nice job.

Stacie: Stronger than Cathe? Awesome!

Toni: Legs and Glutes? What is that from? New workouts! Love new workouts! I have 4DS and haven't even tried it. Your plan is to do it next week? Maybe I'll join you....

Have a great day everyone!!!

Toni----The step and Lo Hiit Premix of Intensity is the one I do the most. I also like the bootcamp addition.

TMJ---Cross Fire is a little more difficult to me but still similar.

Tasha---Hope Bella had a great time at Chuck E Cheese.

This morning was PUB down only premix. Gotta run. It's gonna be a long day because we are planning to go to the high school boys semi-finals basketball game which is not until late tonight. I have a hair appointment after work, so I get to feel pampered for a moment.

Good morning,
Ride was my super-waker-upper this morning and it felt great! It was my choice this morning for a few reasons... I haven't done it in a while and I felt the need for it - the super cardio with no impact - and something different. The other reason is becuase it just happened to come up in an OD:cool:

By the way, entire upper body is feeling the pyramid-down premix from yesterday; not too much but I definitely feel it. Slathering lotion on my arms and chest this morning felt good; almost like a mini-massage:)

Toni,
Too funny about forgetting that you had to go down the pyramid! LOL!
Intensity has been a long-time favorite of mine; Kickbox (4DS) is another one of my favorites. You are going to have fun!

Since you mentioned wondering why chest presses work your chest harder than pushups (does the same for me, by the way)... I read an article by the American Council on Exercise of the top chest exercises - pushups was rated lower than the other two; in fact I think PUs were number 5 or something on the list. I'll make a note to try to find the article again so I can post it. The reasons for their findings were too technical for me to really grasp and remember (it was many months ago). My guess is that the body is face down and you're pushing up with the shoulders and triceps; the pecs are engaged, though. With a bench press (#1 exercise) the body weight is rested and the chest is doing most of the work to push up; the tri's and shoulders are engaged, though.

Heartymax,
Still sore from HC?
Nice job on the PUB down premix!
Enjoy your hair apt:) Personally I'm about dying for a pedicure!
GO BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM! If I knew their team colors I'd try to incorporate them into my little cheer:D

TooMuchJoy,
That is great news about the test results! I'm glad your husband's inhaler helped:)

I love Intensity step and the hiit! Nice job! Don't worry, you'll get to CF and High Reps eventually;)

Stacie,
Super nice job on your weight work! I imagine you'll be feeling the work really soon;)

Tash,
Did Bella win any prizes at Chuck E Cheese? Did she have a blast or WHAT?!

Gotta go - have a super day!

Good morning everyone :)

Thanks for the b-day wishes :). Chuck E Cheese went well. It was really really busy because of March Break. First we went to get Bella's hair cut (I just had to take 3 inches off!) and afterwards we decided to go to a Chuck E Cheese that was nearby. I looked in the window and it was completely swarmed with kids! I was like "hells no! How on earth is Bella going to get on the games?". So we decided to go to the one by our house, which was busy, but not insanely crazy.

I have to share with you guys a great, quickie breakfast!
= PROTEIN POW(D)ER ! (2nd recipe down)
I basically bought all the ingredients in bulk. It's an awesome little power-packed breakfast cereal! Just a heads-up, the recipe calls for 1 TBLS of cinnamon, but I found that to be just too much . I would next time adjust to 1 TSP. Cinnamon is very strong, so a little goes a long way.

My w/o yesterday was PLB . Ohhh the pain! I'm not a fan of using the barbell with step-ups because I just don't feel very secure (and my form is terrible!) so I used my heavy dumbbell's. The floor work is amazing . Did you guys know that Cathe does hip thrusts on the ball without a barbell in that one? MY.BUTT.IS.HURTING.TODAY.

Heartymax
I hope you hair appoint went well. You deserve to get pampered!

Toni
I love 4DS UB premix . My only gripe is that's it can run over an hour, especially with pausing and equip changes. The shoulder work is killer! I always feel as though Cathe favors biceps more than any other muscle group. I never feel completely "worked" with shoulder's during most of her w/o's -- but not this one! The whole 4DS program is SO versatile.

TMJ
I'm glad to hear everything went well at your DR appoint :).
There are so many great premixes in CF. I think I have only done the entire w/o once . I think you would really like the circuit blast section the most! And there are no Tabata's in it ;).

Stacie
Congrats on going higher in some #'s than Cathe during GS . You are one strong momma!
I doubt I will find a good deal on Body Rev :mad:. For some stupid reason, fitness equip and workouts are totally jacked-up in price here. Target will be opening up next month, so hopefully they have some good prices on fitness stuff. I won't hold my breath though .
BTW, do you watch Game Of Thrones???

Jennifer

Your spin sessions make me super jealous! Glad you had an amazing w/o .
Thank you for the vote of confidence with Bella :). I try to "balance" all developmental area's in her life, but sometimes I get overwhelmed with it all. No one is perfect. Mark and I are trying to do the best we possibly can.
As for the Ode To The Firewalker w/o, I used the firewalker segments from AT, XT, S&G. I did 3 rounds of cardio from AB (no plank exercises ;)), followed by 3 rounds of firewalker/ball segments. Repeat for about 40min. Funny thing was that my quads, which rarely feel DOMS, were killing me the next day!

Have a good day ladies
