Push It

Sorry I haven't been on the forum much lately. I have been sleeping a little later and doing about 30 minutes on the elliptical in the mornings the last several days. It has been pretty cold lately. My DS14 doesn't like wearing jackets so I finally broke down to buy him a North Face Fleece with a hoodie. He has not asked for one so it will be a surprise. I ordered it this morning. I figured he needed something to keep him nice and warm that is not bulky. I wasn't sure about the size so I hope it fits. He has a 3-n-1 Columbia jacket but he doesn't wear it because he hates coats like most kids. I this fleece jacket will be something he will wear to school. I am keeping my fingers crossed. DS10 doesn't like wearing coats either but he is not old enough to wear something that expensive because I know he will leave it at school and i will never see it again. I still take him to before care at the school l in the mornings so he doesn't have to stand out in the cold. I am thinking I may convince him to leave a coat at school in his room locker so he will have it at recess.

Tasha---you are always doing some kick butt workouts. Sounds like your body is saying"take a day off" and get some rest. Hope your fever is better.

Toni---how is the baby doing?

Stacie----sorry to hear about the problems with your menstrual. Sounds like the doctor is trying to get things all figured out for you. Hope it works out soon so you can get your IUD.

Jennifer---glad to hear that your neck/shoulder are still doing fine this week. you are definitely on the road to full recovery!

Anyway, have a good day ladies!

Good morning everyone :)

No workout for me yesterday. I felt ok, no fever, but TBH I just was not "in the mood" and needed the rest :). I did laundry, cleaned, made dinner. That's a workout right? ;)

Today I'm back with MIS.

Heartymax
My DH does not own a winter jacket. He was like that as a teen, as he is still like that. Fleece hoodies are the way to go.
Good for you that you caught up on sleep and fit some elliptical workouts in.

Jennifer
One Direction has already toured several cities the USA, including NYC MSG. They are going on Ellen soon. I'm surprised you never heard of them. They are a tremendous talent.
Hope you had a good time at your Ripped class!

Stacie
Have a safe and happy trip on your nephew's bootcamp! Yes, please post pics ;).
OMG The Walking Dead :eek::eek:. As much as I love to hate Lori, I felt bad while she was dying. This season has been THE BOMB so far!

Have a great day ladies!

Good morning!

Rest day yesterday since Wednesday was Muscle Endurance in the morning and then the RIPPED class in the evening (totally fun!).

This morning I did Crossfire. Since my blue firewalker loop has finally gotten too stretched out to challenge me I made one from an old Sports Authority long latex band... talk about hard!

Since I wanted additional glute work and less tuck jumps I did glute squeezes on the ball for both of those sets. Every little bit helps! I'm going shopping for a barball pad this weekend (Valeo, if I can find it) - I'm really looking forward to doing some thrusts!

Tasha, your rest day was pretty busy! I'd call it a productive active rest day. You're fully prepared for MIS now:)

Now that you've brought my attention to One Direction I have heard their name on the radio several times; funny how that happens! You mentioned they will be on Ellen - I love her show; she is so funny:D

I forgot to mention before... I was sorry to hear about Colleen's shoulder:( I hope her shoulder heals very fast so she can get back to her favorite workouts. Please tell her I'm thinking about her!

Stacie, I know you're out of town but...
Oh - My - Gosh! I saw the picture of the cake! That is amazing! Is the roof a thin slice of the cake? I bet it was the most delicious cake ever!

Heartymax, it's good to hear from you! Sleeping late and still exercising... that's good:)

Getting the younger one to leave a coat in his locker is a great idea - I hope he goes for it. He should since you're not specifically making him wear it;)

Toni, how are you doing with the new baby in the house? Are you still able to rock those HC workouts?

I best get - have an awesome day!

Hi everyone!

We have a new addition to the family! My cousin had a little girl yesterday, Mia 9lbs 12oz. Can you believe she gave birth vaginally to such a big baby?! When I heard the weight and length (22 inches!) my vagina cringed :D. Hope I did not offend anyone with my candid comment :D.

Yesterday's w/o was a 3 mile walk w/Bella and MIS later on. My warm-up was Fitness Tabata from TTM .

Today I did a CF premix which included Fitness Blast+Plyo Tabata+Core (33min total).

Jennifer
My blue firewalker is pretty stretched now too! I guess that's a good sign ;).
I meant to ask, what do you do exactly at the Ripped classes? I think you mentioned it before, it's like a circuit style workout with cardio/high reps, correct?
Oh ho ho, the Glute Thrusts with the barbell is a goodie! I'm uncertain as to how good my form is, since I really don't have visual reference yet, but I used a 10inch step height and I could really feel it in my glutes!
Hope you find the Valeo! I bought mine off Amazon.ca.
Colleen is actually better now. How sweet of you to think of her :).

Gotta get my groove on! Off grocery shopping!

Have a good one ladies!

The pic....my phone wouldn't let me add it to the previous post!

Happy (rainy) Sunday afternoon!

Yesterday I did Imax3 on an 8" step again - however I decreased the amount of jumping that's in the workout.
Then I cleaned the kitchen; then I sort of pigged out during dinner - I had the hungry horrors:)

This morning I did PUB - I have room for improvement but I loved working hard and the exercises are great. So basic yet so intense! I stretched out really well and used the foam roller.

Tasha, Congratulations to your cousin! Wow, that is a big baby! Hopefully she is feeling okay and Mia is as healthy as she sounds:) Nothing offensive at all, that is definitely cringe worthy, and the vagina is an important body part!

The Ripped workout starts out with a strength segment; weights and pushups. I consider it to have multiple sets rather than high rep sets, if you know what I mean. After that we do 3 other segments and I don't recall exactly which order but either way we do some boxing combinations... mostly it is upper body combinations and then a handful of kicks. Then there is some plyo, and finally interval cardio.

I haven't seen any Breaking Bad episodes but I can relate to an exciting series; it looks like you found some other fans here on the forum:D

I love Dexter, have you watched any of those episodes? I got hooked on it a few years ago during the writers strike when one of the stations aired a few Showtime episodes. Then I rented the first 4 seasons and watched them all during my medical leave (hysterectomy) - I didn't want to stop! Then our Blockbuster went out of business and it wasn't on Netflix... So I bought Season 5. It's been over a year since Season 5 and I finally bought/watched Season 6 -- it was definitely lacking what the other seasons had. However, the ending ensures that I HAVE to get season 7 when it's available. According to the reviews Season 7 redeems the series:)

Well I've rambled on enough - have a good evening!
Hope all is well Toni and Heartymax and Stacie!

Hi everyone :)

Yesterday's w/o was 4DS Lower Intensity Step (cardio only). A perfect w/o for 8pm, since I had no other time to do it.

No workout for me today. I had my aunt and uncle over for dinner. I marinated chicken breasts with lemon & pepper, then grilled them on the bbq. My sides were corn on the cob and assorted spring mixed salad. It was a hit!

I DISCOVERED THE BEST WEBSITE EVER!!!!:
Songza - Listen to Music Curated by Music Experts.
EVERY.SINGLE.SONG.EVER.MADE. at your finger tips FOR FREE! I've been having so much fun with this website, picking playlists from the 80's & 90's and doing chores to it, dancing with Bella to it, cooking with it (you get my drift ;)).

This week I will workout to 2 of my most dreaded cardio w/o's (CCC & Afterburn) and use the playlists from this website that are specifically designed for cardio w/o's. I will mute Cathe's music & voice. This is kinda like a little experiment to see if the dread factor is slightly lessened by listening to my own choice of music. I'm excited to see how I do .

BB tomorrow for personals!

Jennifer
Do I watch Dexter?? That's like asking if kids love Christmas. OF COURSE!! I'm all caught up with the most recent season & episode. TBH, I've enjoyed all the seasons so far. This season however is kinda slowing down, and getting a bit blah, but the first 2 episodes were very exciting. I'm a big fan of Michael C Hall. Have you seen Six Feet Under? He plays a homosexual who inherits the family business; a funeral home. Excellent drama, stellar acting. His character is like a 360 from Dexter. It's incredible to watch the transformation. I'm a fan of HBO, Showtime, and AMC. I've seen all the Soprano's, Weeds, Californication, Breaking Bad, oh and I'm sure many more I've forgotten.
WTG on doing Imax 3 on an 8inch...again!! Jumping or no jumping, you are awesome!
I love PUB too. So simple yet SO effective.
LOL The Hungry Horrors :D. I get those all the time .

Stacie
The pic of your nephew was a bit far and blurry (perhaps it's my crappy laptop), but from what I could see he looked so cute! I hope he is doing ok. How did the bootcamp go this w/e?

Heartymax, Toni
Hope all is well with both of you :)

Good morning ladies! The weekend was a whirlwind of activity. We slept only 6 hours the entire time -- 4 hours the first night and only 2 the second night. The graduation was really nice but to be honest, I wanted it to end as soon as possible so I could see my nephew. He looked good in his uniform. He seemed happy too and made some friends. It was hard to see him go again and of course I already miss him like crazy. He had an early morning flight on Saturday morning so we stayed up for 29 hours straight in order to be with him at the airport. Talk about being tired! It was all worth it though to see him. It did aggravate my cold (that I was getting over!) so I am pretty sick again but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat! I attached another pic of him with my sister. I wanted to get one of just the two of us but it didn't work out. Oh well, maybe the next time I see him!

Jennifer
My sister does make awesome cakes but to honest, most of her talent is in the decorating. I think she would get a ton of customers and maybe have a good business if she found a really good cake recipe. She usually uses just mixes and I find the taste of the cake to be a little dry. I love her designs though. She is super talented!

Natasha
I love the idea of using your own music to workout too! I have thought of that as well but I think I would be lost without Cathe's cueing. How did it go?

I felt a little bit bad about Lori too. Honestly, it seemed premature to just kill her like that. I would have thought they would have tried to stop the bleeding or what not first before just shooting her. I wasn't too sorry to see her go though. I guess in the comic book she had died a long time ago.

Big dread factor for me with AB...even more so than CCC. I think it's because it's a lot longer.

HeartyMax & Toni
Hi there ladies! Hope all is going well with you.

Hey everyone....yes, I'm alive :) Last week I only worked out once(I think). My sleep pattern was off after the election(yes, I am a goober and watched all night!!) and I just couldn't get back into it. DH was gone all last week for work and I didn't want to workout over the weekend, so I just started back up this morning. I'm only going to do 4 day workout weeks until XTrain comes out. Two total body(one of those HC) and two cardio. That should be plenty for a nice relaxing holiday season.

Today was LIC, which I only did with one riser. It was a good workout to ease back in after being off a week. Lowering to 1 riser really lowers the intensity.

I don't think I will every catch up on personals, so I'm just going to start from scratch this week.

Good afternoon!
This morning I did B&G. I am due for a cardio tomorrow - Kick Max maybe? Or possibly a combo of KPC and 4DS Kickbox... actually Cathe has an older kickbox one - the name escapes me - but that's a good one, too.

One thing I do know - I am so excited about Xtrain:eek: I bought my barbell pad on Sunday; I stopped at Sports Authority while I was out and about so I'm good to go!

Tasha, I kind of figured you liked Dexter:D I've been wanting to see Six Feet Under, I heard that MCHall was in it. Haven't yet, though. I'll have to fix that soon:)

I watched a few seasons of Weeds - that's a good one, too! The last one I saw was when she turned up pregnant at the end of one of the seasons... I'm way behind. At this point I don't even know where I'd need to pick up. I saw that Amazon allows 1 episode downloads - that might be something to look in to.

The dinner you made sounds awesome, of course it was a hit!
I made Shake'N Bake again but this time I added chili powder to the seasoning... I think it was my best batch ever. Plus, I cut the chicken breasts into smaller pieces which made it more flavorful.

Thanks for the website! I hope your dreaded workouts go exceptionally well with a taylor-made-to-you soundtrack:cool: I may need to try that for Cycle Max... it's hard to get into it because it's so stationary.

Stacie, your nephew is handsome! Glad to hear he made some friends and that he seems so happy. He's so lucky to have such support from you. That's a sweet picture of him and your sister - a nice one to put on the wall of frames:) Sorry you didn't get one of just the two of you, though:(

It wasn't Texas that you went to, was it? I thought that was for Thanksgiving?
I hope you were able to catch some zzz's on the plane.

Hopefully your sister will find a good cake recipe; did you say if she works as a cake decorator or does she just do it for fun and special occasions? She sure is talented!

Toni, welcome back to your workouts! Did you end up getting a body bar? I think you mentioned one but that you weren't sure exactly which weight to get... that's the hard part.

Take care - have an awesome day:D

Toni---I feel like you----I am behind on personals too. I think doing 4 workouts a week will definitely keep things in flow for you. I got a newsletter from our medical provider with an article about "maintain not gain" encouraging people to focus on maintaining their weight to get through the holidays.

Jennifer
---I looked at Butts and Gutts this morning and almost pulled it out. I decided that I want to be able to walk tomorrow:D

I enjoyed the long weekend. Got caught up on some housework without having to rush. I made some shredded pork in the crock pot yesterday. I love the sweet flavor---but my DH like the vinegar flavor so he adds some to his. I cook it in a can of beer too and it is quite tasty.

This morning was the step portion of Intensity followed by Lower Body Trisets. It felt good to get in some short cardio and a strength training.

I have not been reading the forum that much lately. Any word on whether we will get Xtrain before Christmas??

Hi Tasha and Stacie!

Good morning!
I'm super busy at work so I got up early (with the help of a full bladder) to work out and get to work early.

I did Cardio Core Circuit (minus the core segments to shave off about 10 minutes), and a good stretch.

Heartymax, your workout combo was awesome! Intensity step and LB Trisets - and you said you wanted to be able to walk the next day:D Just kidding, mixing the cardio into the LB feels good. I'll have to try that combo.

Tis the season for Crock Pots - they are awesome!

From what I read in Cathe's newsletter it does seem like Xtrain could be ready to ship in a couple to three weeks:eek: I cannot wait!

I best get - have an awesome day!

Good morning ladies :)

I was really excited about testing out a w/o I made in the Blender. It combined the toning sections from S&G and AT. The whole w/o came in in at about 50min. Lot's of plank work, however I was ok with it since there was NO repetition :D. If anyone wants an effective, thorough, total body toning workout using only bands, discs, and the step (used for push-ups) I would encourage you to mesh the two segments together. My core got an incredible w/o too . Overall I give this mix&match 2 thumbs!

Today's w/o will be CCC with a playlist from Songza. Hopefully my experiment goes well, and the dread factor is lessened by muting Cathe's voice & music and incorporating my own kick a** music from the website. Wish me luck!

Toni
No need to write personals to me. I do it because I like to, but I don't expect it in return. I actually love reading what everyone is doing, even if it's just a drive-by check-in :).
How is your step-daughter and the baby doing? I hope all is well and everyone is getting adjusted. How are you feeling?

Heartymax
I loved your mix&match combo! Cardio & strength always makes me feel great.
Your dinner sounded lovely. I'm a fan of pulled pork :p. I just bought some pork baby back ribs I'm going to make in my crock pot this week :p.

Jennifer
Is the older kickbox called Cardio Kicks? I heard it was really good.
CCC without the ab sections?! That's my breather! WTG on doing it's gotta be a super tough, sweat feast .
I love Shake N Bake. It's so versatile and can be used on practically any meat.
I'm super stoked for Xtrain too! You better believe that on DD (download day) I'm going to be testing out a workout ASAP! I remember with LIS, the same day I downloaded the series, I tried Low Impact Challenge. Within 2 weeks I had tested out all of the workouts! I'm impatient like that .

Stacie
Your w/e sounded so nice, but very exhausting. I'm sure the lack of sleep was worth it to see your nephew. I'm happy you got to spend time with him :). I hope your cold gets better :(.
I will test out the music to workouts that I feel don't really need queuing, like CCC. The moves are pretty basic and I can just follow along to what Cathe is doing on screen. I would never consider doing it for step or weight training.

Have a great day ladies!

Hey everyone!! Today was Step Blast!! I did every step of every blast :) I've never done that before. Even did them awful air jacks!! Tomorrow is HC V2 I think.

The baby and Chelsea are doing well. The baby is really good. Hardly cries at all. Eats and sleeps, and that's about it :) Chelsea seems to be doing quite well with motherhood. I'm really proud of her.

I'm getting a MAC!!! I ubber excited. I still need to pick out exactly which one, but that baby is gonna be MINE!!

HeartyMax - Hush...do not say the word housework...LOL!! I need to get my butt in gear for Thanksgiving. We host at our house.

Tasha - I like the personals...I'm just behind. I don't really feel like I'm participating if I don't do the personals :) But thanks for letting me off the hook!!

Jennifer - I bought a 5lb body bar and it wasn't heavy enough really...oh well.

Have to run to basketball practice....bye all!!

There is a suspect in custody for the murder of my student's mom. The entire community is relieved. It is a teenager who is also suspected of killing someone else in another county just last week.

Toni----I am going to purchase HC at the beginning of the year. I pre-ordered Xtrain even though I was not supposed to buy anything else after I got the elliptical in February. I just knew there was no way that I was going to pass up and wait for it to go on sale. January is a new year and I have my eye on HC.

Natty---Great, sounds like we can get all the reviews of Xtrain from you since you will work your way through them in no time:D. Love that excitement.

Jennifer--why are my hamstrings SORE??

This morning's workout was Upper Body First (premix that includes the back) of High Reps. Cathe definitely named that workout correctly. My muscles are screaming on those last few reps

Good morning ladies! I am finally feeling better but I am still staying away from cardio since walking the dog makes me cough like crazy. This morning I did the Total Body express premix for Total Body Trisets. I think that is my favorite DVD from the LIS. No problems with the knees either -- all around good stuff! I miss Rushfit but I think those workouts would kill me right now. They are pretty intense.

So I had a rough day yesterday. My son was caught stealing Pokemon cards from another student's backpack. I was really appalled by that and had him writing rules in the night along with a list of other punishments. He is grounded from a whole slew of things. He also lied about it repeatedly which further ticked me off. Hopefully he has learned his lesson and today will be a better day.

HeartyMax
It definitely sounds like Xtrain will be coming soon. I think she said that they are almost ready for the duplicator. For CF and TTM, I think it was about two weeks later that the DVDs shipped. Very exciting!!!! I still think they are at least 4 weeks out though.

That's great news that they found the person responsible for the crime. It really does make you feel better when they do. When the little girl that was killed north of me, people were very shocked by the crime. What made even worse is the killer wound up being a 17 year old boy. The sad part is that it was his mom who had to turn him in....very tragic. I have no clue what is going on with some of the youth these days.

Toni
Thanks for the baby update! You will have to post a picture of the little darling soon. Babies are so dang cute!

Good info on the body bar as well. I don't blame you for starting light. They are little kettlebells and get pricey quickly.

Jennifer
Thanks for the compliment on my nephew. I think he is handsome too! He is such a sweet kid as well. It's hard to think of him actually having to fight someone or something. He said he wanted to go overseas and I just about died. If I could tie him up and hide him in a closest somewhere until the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts were over, I totally would! I am planning on sending him some goodies today.

I am still hoping to go to San Antonio for turkey day. There was some flux about the trip but I think it's back on again.

Natasha
I am jealous of all of the downloads you have! I am glad that I ordered the downloads and DVDs with Xtrain. I have a plan of doing a muscle group a day to failure with Xtrain kinda like Body Beast does. With the workout blender, that should be pretty easy to do. I am soooooo excited for Xtrain.

The last Walking Dead was kinda weird huh? I think the next one is going to be awesome though.

Have a great day everyone!

Hope everyone is having a great Wed so far :)

So I did it. I did CCC with a music playlist from Songza. I would have to confirm that yes, the workout dread is lessened...somewhat. What I noticed was that the workout seemed easier with pumped-up music. Not sure if really was music related, or that I have actually gotten fitter since the last time I did the workout. I'm gonna give credit to the music ;).
Just a little FYI about the music -- I picked a playlist which includes recent top dance hits: LMFAO, Rihanna, Britney Spears (hate her new songs ), Pink, so basically all the songs from CF & TTM. Next time, I might pick an 80's Hits playlist since that's my favorite decade of music or Hip Hop Cardio :D.

Today's w/o was Push/Pull + 2 bonus segments of STS M1 Legs (conditioning drills). The entire w/o came in at around 70min with stoppage time, but DH is home today so I took advantage :D.

Toni
WTG on doing the entire Step Blast and air jacks! Did I mention how much I love Step Blast?
I'm so happy the baby and Chelsea are doing well :).
Congrats on getting a Mac! I don't have experience with them, but all my cousins do and they always tease me for having a PC .

Stacie
I'm glad to hear you are feeling better. I also love LIS TBT. People complain about the rock guitar sound, but I like it and find it goes well with the workout.
I'm sorry to hear about your son stealing the cards :(. I think you made the right decision by grounding him and writing a list of rules. This parenthood thing is def not easy!
Ya, the last episode of TWD was kinda weird. Rick is going nutso! My fav part of the episode was when Darren was feeding the baby. I wanted to give him a big kiss! ;)

Heartymax
I'm glad a suspect was found. That poor student of yours must be going through hell right now :(.
I love High Reps. Out of all my total body workouts, I feel it is the most thorough and well-rounded.

Jennifer
Hi there pretty lady :)

Have a good one!

Hi! Geesh, one more day until Friday. I can make it, and so can you!

Wednesday morning I skipped but went to the Ripped class in the evening; it was fun to see some friends and the weight work was decent. Cardio? Um, well, it's more fun than work but that's okay.

This morning I took a page out of Heartymax's book with the step and then legs... I did the Intensity Step portion and then I did Butt Bible Level 2! I was able to do those hip thrusts with my barbell and my new pad. Wow - what a difference - but I was ready!

Stacie, glad you're on the mend, and TriSets is in my top favorite weight workouts. I just can't pick one - PUB is up there, and Muscle Endurance, oh, and High Reps. I'm glad you're taking your time easing into the RushFits.

So sorry to hear about your son, that was shocking! Hopefully it's just a quick phase. I've stolen candy from the classroom when I was about his age. I never turned into a thief:)

Toni, Thanks for letting me know - sorry the 5lb bar is too light, better to start out too light than too heavy.

Glad the baby is doing well, and Chelsea, too!

Tasha, congrats on the CCC! I bet it was a combination of the music and getting more fit. Your play list sounds perfect!

The workout blender sounded awesome! I'd have to do the different DVD premixes to get close to those options, but I have made a note to do it:cool:

Push/Pull and then Legs is another good idea - just that extra bit on legs/glutes really makes a difference!

I best get some lunch and then hopefully I'll have some of the deadline (for TOMORROW) stuff. When the other managing editor was in charge things went much more quickly. But everyone needs a learning curve.

Later, hot mommas!
