Push It

Happy Friday indeed - but I'm not at the beach, Tash!

The baseball game was fun and luckily it didn't end too late. Sunday's game went 16 innings or something crazy like that (and it didn't end well for the Cardinals).

We enjoyed a couple beers and a couple snacks; sure was expensive! For the cost we could have had a couple of fancy dinners, but hey - what's a ball game without the fluff stuff.

I did my pushups this morning (not yesterday as planned - I over slept) as well as the cardio portion of Slide N Glide but I included the little bit of hamstrings/glutes and back that is in that workout... I was short on time but last night was the Fitness Challenge class so I wasn't too bummed out that I didn't get to do a long workout this morning.

Tasha, I am so happy for you regarding the improvements in your capabilities:D High tuck jumps and wide air jacks is amazing, and the 12" step? You are one powerful chick! They always say good things come in small packages! So Plyo Legs followed by PUB sounds like a great 2-day rotation. I bet you do feel DOMS:eek: Hopefully the 4DS cardio will help you recover a bit faster.

I am very glad to hear you get to enjoy an adult day at the beach! I'm also jealous, I wish I lived near a beach. A pool is nice but man, there is nothing like the beach.

When I get the JM workouts I'll be sure to check out Vasheera; what a pretty name, and I'm sure I will also aspire to her also.

Heartymax, So glad that you received CF and TTM already! Both are great workouts. For me, CF seems a wee-bit harder and I base it on the fact that the few times I've done it it really practically kills me. TTM just seems a bit less but don't take that to mean that it's easy! I'm looking forward to hearing about which you do first and what you think about it :)

Sounds like the school season is starting out with a bang! Good for you for being an active role in their lives:)

Your pushups are going tremendously! I'm jealous! I can't complain about my progress, I am able to do 15 really good ones now and I know I will continue to improve. I thank you for helping me get there.

And good luck getting Nationals tickets! I hope they make it to the Post Season! I'm not "up on the stats" or anything like that but I do like to watch the game sometimes.

Toni, good God almighty! That is a lot of appointments and things going on! I'm glad to hear you are still able to get your workouts into your crazy schedule! A 2-day on with one-day off sounds good especially with the workouts that you are doing... well rounded I would say.
It was good to hear from you.

Have an awesome day, ladies!

Good morning everyone. I am sorry I haven't been on. I just haven't really felt like it especially since I haven't worked out in over a week. My grandmother passed away Wednesday morning and I admit to being a little bit in a fog. I knew it was coming but it still hit home hard for some reason. Anyway, maybe tonight I will get a workout in. I was thinking of 4DS Low Intensity step since that one always makes me feel better.

Natasha
I am sorry about your mom and her weight problems. It's hard to see someone suffer but her desire to loose weight has to come from herself. My mom goes through the same thing. I even gave her Travel Fit, Basic step, a step, and Leslie Sansone's 5 really big miles and they just sit there. Of course she was taking care of my grandma too at the time. Anyway, I hope one day your mom will decide to take the initiative to take control of her health.

Have fun at beach! Everyone parent needs a break from the kids sometimes. I am glad you are taking one.

Toni
Glad to see you back and I am glad your are keeping up with your workouts. It's hard to keep a balance sometimes. I hope your mom is doing well.

HeartyMax
Great job on the pushups! I should really look into that program since my pushup count is pretty stagnant. I haven't improved much at in months! It's definitely something to think about in the future.

Have you tried StubHub for tickets to the game? I find decent prices there all the time.

Jennifer
Glad to hear you had fun at the baseball game! I don't know if it's the same everywhere but Coors Field here in Denver lets you bring food into the stadium. It's a great way to keep the costs down! We usually only get one or two things at the game because of the costs and the healthiness of the items. Anyway, sometimes it's nice just to indulge too.

Stacie
I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.

Jennifer
I'm glad you had a fun time at the baseball game. Yup, snacks at sports center's are very expensive. You could probably purchase a ipod for the same price of a hot dog, nacho's & cheese, and soda . But hey, that's part of the experience ;).
You know what, I don't consider myself that powerful. I see Cathe can do it, and yes she is an athlete, but she's also 5'2. Anything is possible if you are consistent and really want it :D. I strive to just get better with each passing year :).
I love the cardio portion of S&G. I was showing Mark some moves I can do with the discs, as he seemed interested, and he almost flipped his lid when he saw the plank jack into a push-up .

Toni
Wow! You have been non-stop lady! I also loved how involved you are in the extra curricular activities.
Great job on your workouts too. You are picking some toughies.

Heartymax
SOOOOO, did you try TTM yet?????:eek:

A great weekend to all of you :)

Hi ladies,
I skipped today - just didn't make enough time.
However I received my Jillian workouts today so tomorrow I plan to do the Killer Buns workout along with a Cathe UB.

I'm looking forward to trying the Yoga but I'm not sure when I'll squeeze that in... I'm thinking Tuesday or Wednesday morning.

Has anyone looked into the Fitness Enthusiast Association? I wonder if it will look good on a resume to be a member of any organization or an association so I am considering it.

Tasha, how was the beach? I can (hardly) live it vicariously though you. Are the waves big? I don't surf (never had the chance to try it) but it's fun to body-surf.

I hear ya' and agree... keep going for your best and try to improve your skills. You are powerful, though;)

That is SO FUNNY about Mark and his reaction to the plank jack into pushups:D

Stacie, I also want to express my condolences.

I forgot all about stubhub so thanks for the reminder.
It's great that your stadium allows patrons to bring in food and drink! I'm pretty sure St. Louis does not allow it but I have never ever even asked about it.

Have an awesome evening!

Stacie---expressing condolences to your family. The hundred push up helps me to improve. It is challenging--but manageable. I don't stress when I can't reach my numbers---which you know happened the other week and I had to drop back down to a different column. Never heard of StubHubs. DH said that if they make it to the playoffs that the season ticket holders get to purchase tickets first. After that, they have to see if any tickets are left for regular folks.

Tasha-----I didn't opened the DVD pack when it arrived it the mail. I was so busy last week til I just laid it on the table when it arrived. I opened a couple days later and realized they sent me Cycle Max instead of TTM. I sent an email and they are sending me TTM along with a prepaid envelope to return Cycle Max. I did preview Cross Fire and looks tough.

Toni----OMG is all I can say about your schedule last week. I would need a calgon bath.:D

Jennifer--I am glad that you like the push up program and feel that it has helped you. I think it forces you to go that extra mile---kind of like STS. I will start week 4 next week. Depending on how it goes, I may move to week 5 or start over. The key is doing them consistently and sometimes I go more than one day between the sets so that is not always good as i can see this time around.

No workout for me on Saturday and probably not this morning either. I got up early yesterday to take DS to football practice and finish my school supply shopping and to buy myself some new clothes as well. I went to a friends birthday party last night and now I am up doing laundry and will head out to church in a few hours. My family is having dinner with my brother, aunt and cousins later this afternoon and then tomorrow is the first day of school. I anticipate that the first week will be very tiring.

Happy Sunday ladies :)

Yesterday we went to a provincial nature park with hiking trails. It was pretty amazing to say the least. We met up with DH's best buddy (they've been friends for over 25yrs) and his girlfriend. We had a bbq on the picnic grounds :p. It was a lovely day :). My workout was walking the trails .

Today's w/o will be Muscle Max.

Jennifer
No big waves here :(. We are not near an Ocean, just Lakes & Bays. Does not even come close to Caribbean beaches, but beautiful nonetheless.
Here is a pic:
Sibbald Point Provincial Park | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
I wanted to tell you something about those rocks in the pic. There is a sign right out front saying the rocks are dangerous and to stay off. Well in Canada, no one cares about danger, cuz' everyone and their brother goes on them . Mark and I were like "what's the big deal?" and so we decided to check it out (without Bella). It's pretty dangerous, I mean you can slip on the algae and hit your head or something. We even saw a mom who was holding her 4-6 month old baby on the rocks! WTH? Anyway, as we started to walk on the rocks, I wondered why people actually go on them. It's nothing special .
What is the Fitness Enthusiast Association? I'm thinking it's for residents of the USA only.

Heartymax
Sorry the screwed up and gave you Cycle Max . At least they are rectifying the problem asap.
Yay for new clothes! I love buying them but I dread trying them on. Especially pants . Companies seem to think all women are very slim build w/no curves at 5'10 as opposed to us shorties who have booty & thighs

Have a great day everyone :)

Received TTM yesterday. We didn't check mail until this morning. I hear everyone talk about the Tabatha method but it is not something that I am familiar with.

Had a great time hanging out with my family yesterday. Ate so much this weekend until I decided to skip the scale this morning::eek:

Just finished Low Impact Circuit for an awesome workout. I love this music in this workout so it really got me going which is what I need for today. First day of school for students. I need me workout to relieve stress and a little extra patience to go along with it.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning everyone :)

Yesterday's w/o was Muscle Max. I feel like the workout is pretty well rounded except for legs. I will start adding my own 100 Rep Challenge at the end of it which will includes various LB exercises like elevated lunges, squats, and dead lifts.

Heartymax
Tabata is 20 sec intense work, followed by 10 sec rest, and then repeat for 4min. If done correctly, your MHR should be at 90 to 100%. I've done Supreme 90-Day Tabata, and I believe it to be harder than Cathe's. The good thing is that the intervals go by very fast, and Cathe makes the exercises fun and with less "dread" as possible IMO. One word of advice though, if you don't feel a specific exercise is hard for 20sec, you have to increase the intensity yourself by either upping your step height, using a blue firewalker instead of green, using heavier weights, ect. Cathe will tell you this also.

Have a good one ladies!

Good afternoon!
Today I did Turbo Barre - and I did my 5 sets of pushups. The good news is that I did 16 two sets in a row! That's my highest consecutive number ever:D

Yesterday (Sunday) I did Jillian's Killer Buns and Thighs (posted a review in Tasha's Thumbs down/thumbs up thread). It was a half-hour.

After that I went to the gym and took a Zumba class. The atmosphere in the class was great (very lively), and although I had no idea what I was doing (it was my 2nd ever attempt) I caught on to a few things and was really able to boogie down:) It was fun. I seriously didn't know that I could actually move my hips - at all! The class was an hour and a half and I definitely plan to go back.

Now - FINALLY, after 3 workouts, I am starting to feel my buns.

Tasha, what a beautiful picture! It looks nice and clean, too. I would love to be able to just get up and go there whenever I want. I can see how the rocks can be dangerous, and it is unfathomable that a mom would walk on them with her baby:eek: Thank you for sending the picture

BBQ and hiking the trails sounds like a lovely day and a nice way to workout. Your back isn't bothering you from it? Maybe there aren't big hills, or you didn't push Bella? What do you think?

Craig has a friend like Mark's friend. I have 2 good and old friend like that, too, but they live in Texas and in Massachussets (I moved around a lot growing up). We still keep in touch and visit each other.
Living here I was really close with a couple girls for 15 years until we broke up so to speak - just different paths and interests; it took a few years to finally just break away.

National Association of Fitness Enthusiasts == I guess you're right, the title is National instead of International however I provided the link just in case... I seriously don't think they are restricting membership. I heard about it from Cathe's newsletter last week.

Heartymax, I haven't done Low Impact Chalenge in quite a while so thanks for the reminder!

I'm glad you received TTM so quickly. I can hardly wait for you to do them, girl!:)

Stacie and Toni, hi!

Have an awesome day, ladies:D

Happy Monday!! No workout yesterday and today was Step Blast. Still love that one. I had to take a break between blasts, but I did all the moves :)

I decided not to workout yesterday. I stepped on the scale on Saturday and I had lost another pound(140), so I decided with only 4 workouts and still a pound loss I didn't need the other one. And I ate better Sunday :) My eating still isn't quite up to snuff, so I'm backing off the workouts as not to create a calorie deficiet(sp???).

Jennifer - I have Turbo Barre and totally have not done it. Totally forgot I had it!! I'm adding it this week :) I want to make sure my legs stay toned even though I'm not doing as many workouts.

Tasha - I feel like MM is light on legs also, but sometimes that's good depending on what you did the day before.

Stacie - my mom is out of the hospital, but she's still not quite herself. But I don't feel like she is in danger at this point, so that is good.

Good morning!
To the Max for me this morning (but I skipped the abs w/upper body focus); I didn't realize that I had done that one so recently and I like to change them up more frequently than that but oh well. I enjoyed it, and I followed it with some extra stuff... firewalkers, outter thigh raises, and glute squeezes (brief parts of B&G). Tonight is the Fitness Challenge class.

Toni, I also love Step Blast; that was one I got due to enabling:D
As for Turbo Barre, it is a good workout and I like it so don't get me wrong. It took me a couple times to get used to it - I don't think it's as fun as other workouts, I guess - like spinning - it's just a little boring. But it really is a good workout!

Have a great day!

Hi gals :)

Yesterday I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and "attempt" both triple tabata premixes from CF and TTM. 24min of intense booty whooping with a slight break in between when I change discs. So what's the big deal right? Why in god's green earth do I keep attempting Tabata in the early evening??? I just can't do hard cardio then. So that was my first mistake. Second mistake was there is no a/c in my spare room, just a fan, and we are going through another heat wave. Third mistake was running out of water mid-workout. I got through the entire workout ok, until the last Tabata on TTM (fitness Tabata). Push-ups and mountain climber's in the same circuit??!! I said "screw this" and quit . So for anyone who wants to try that, it is possible, just make sure all the planets are aligned perfectly during your attempt :D.

Toni
I'm glad to hear you are doing well. Step Blast always makes me happy, even when I'm stressed or in a bad mood.
Unlike Jennifer, I find Turbo Barre fun...in a brutal, stinging kinda' way.

Jennifer
Congrats on the push-ups!!! 2x16 is great!!
I like your review on Killer Buns. See, I was always tempted to get that one, but after doing Cathe's LB workouts and becoming accustomed to them, I just rate her queen supreme on butt & thighs. I don't think anyone can quite compare. But of course, variety is a good thing.
Nope, I did not push Bella uphill. There is NO WAY you can do that with a stroller. Dear heaven, I would literally collapse! Mark carried her on his back, and by the end his legs were on fire! It's ok, he needs to work on them anyway ;).
I like how you did outer thigh raises, firewalker's and glute squeezes at the end of your workout. That's an excellent idea actually, and so I'm taking it ;).
Next month's rotation will include Turbo Barre weekly . I'm determined to nail all those horrid leg lifts!

Have a good day everyone :)

Hello all. First day of school for us here. Kids looked really cute this morning!!

No workout yesterday. I didn't sleep well and I decided to sleep in a bit. Today was Cardio & Weights. I think that one is really fun cause the cardio parts are not as killer as other circuit workouts!!

I think I am going to try to watch TTM during the DAY today. I've tried twice at night and I fell asleep both times..LOL!! I think I want to try it tomorrow and see how it goes!!

Have a great day ladies.

Good afternoon,

Fitness challenge class last night certainly lived up to it's name... we used the TRX suspension thingies. Wow - it really takes pushups (and lunges, and planks, and everything) to a whole 'nother level... sort of from decline aspect in addition to complete instability.

Anyway, it was challenging but not as intense as my morning workouts because we kept stopping to change exercises and switching sides of the room due to lack of space and TRX availability. I managed to tweak my back flipping over while my feet were in the TRX straps (imagine that).
But it was a lot of fun - we laughed at ourselves falling all over the place:D

This morning I did Level 2 Yoga Meltdown. Tash, wow - it was tough, good exercises, not boring at all, and it de-tweaked my back! I'm glad I started at level 2; it was just right. I was relieved when it was time to cool down:eek:

Then I did my push ups and some back/bicep reps to even it out. My pushup counts were down but it's okay... last night's class and the Yoga definitely had an affect on my endurance.

Tasha, you are too funny - and so ambitious - and an intensity junkie like me:) By all means, I am very glad to give you some workout ideas - finally I can return the favor!

Toni, happy first day of school:eek: I'm excited to hear how you like TTM.

Gotta run. Have a super day!

Good day ladies :)

Yesterday I went on a nice 5 mile walk with Bella to the McDonald's PlayPlace and back. I also stopped to look at a nearby school, since I think I have to enroll Bella soon for next year Sept 2013. I'm down to 2 schools right near our house. One is smaller and older, the other bigger and newer.

I also did 4DS Kickbox yesterday (30min). I like that it's only 30min, but what I dislike is that Cathe spends 10min of it just warming up . So that's really only 20min of punching/kicking combo's. I hope her newest one Hard Strikes is excellent. I don't mean luke warm here, I mean a great kick-butt workout .

Jennifer
I'm glad you liked Meltdown :). Jillian is not a perfect, spiritual, Yoga Guru, and that's why I like it. I will do level 2 this week (I did level 1 last week).
OMG your TRX classes sound amazing!!! I would have loved to see you hanging upside down :D.

Toni
I hope the first day of school went well.

Stacie
Hope you are doing ok. Thinking of ya :).

Heartymax
Hope your first school days have gone well.

Have a good one ladies!

I think I mentioned that I probably would sleep in on Tuesday since I have class on Monday nights. Well, then I overslept this morning but jumped up to squeezed in Lower Body Tri-Sets. It was about 35 minutes without the stretch. A short workout is always better than no workout.

Today is my 44th birthday. I feel good and blessed to be in good health.

Jennifer---sounds like you are enjoying your fitness class.

Tasha--first days have gone very well----just tiring at the end of the day.

Toni--I had my coworkers laughing when I told them that I like having a first day of school oufit just like the kids. It was like that when I grewup and as an adult

Hi Stacie

Good morning everyone

Yesterday we went to Center Island. It's a small island (part of Toronto) that is pretty much a fun haven for kids; rides, trails, farm, splash pad, parks, food, stores, ect. We spent the entire morning traveling to get there by car/subway/Ferry, and then back. It was Bella's first time on a train & boat, so that was very exciting. It was also exhausting! I'm glad I wore the appropriate foot attire because my calves were a bit sore by the end of the day with the constant standing/walking. I'm glad I'm fit enough to do those day trips with ease though, because it really sucks the life out of you!! Bella had a fun time, going on all the rides and splashing in the splash pad. She was super tired once we got home. And now she woke up with a fever, so she's sick :(. I hope it's a quick in/out virus.

Today's w/o will be LBB + S&G cardio...unless I wuss out ;)

Happy Friday ladies

Hello,
Glad it's Friday. 4DS Kickbox for me this morning plus a few minutes of GS Leg exercises... the glute squeezes and 1-legged ball roll outs.

Last night's class was a lot of drills; squats, pushups, planks, etc.

Happy belated Birthday Heartymax! I know you got what you asked for:) Being healthy and happy is more than anyone could ask for:)
A new outfit is fun; good for you to start the year out in style!

Tasha, sounds like a great day of fun, and I hope Bella feels better in no time.
LBB and S&G will be a great combination. You won't wuss out!
How much more time do you have before you need to make a decision on Bella's school?

Toni and Stacie, hope all is going well.

Happy Labor Day weekend!
