Push It

Hi ladies,
No pushups for me today; seems I needed an extra day off the pushups.
This morning I did To The Max - it was great!

Toni, too funny about the shoes; I really think it's a girl thing! But seriously, I understand. Usually my ex-workout shoes turn into dog walking shoes and when I get tired of looking at the pile I finally donate or toss them.
I LOVE high step training - way to go!

Stacie, Hip hop repeater - that was great! Those are so fun, too, aren't they?!
Yay for Xtrain! And the new kicks, of course:D As for the ex, well, I'm glad you're a strong chick. Girl power! Seriously, you wouldn't just blow off someone - you are much to sweet and considerate to do that to someone.
I hope you are better able to rest, and that you can get in a super kick-butt workout soon!

Tasha, I completely understand wanting to use the F word when it comes to backs. So glad the Yoga is helping. The Power Yoga sounds interesting - since it's not slow and boring I may just like it. I might get a chance to check out the library this weekend.
Good for you, though, that you still did LBB even if you did modify - something is always better than nothing!

I best get - going to take the fitness challenge class.
Have a good night!

I took two rest days this week. My body is trying to adjust back to the normal work routine---so I needed Wednesdays rest day. Thursdays rest day was just plain lazy:D. Today was Intensity Step and Bootcamp premixes. Started out with week 3 day 2 push ups-----14,19,14,14,19 (at least 19).

Jennifer---funny how I used to could squeak one extra push up at the end but now I am barely get it in that last one.

Stacie---I laughed so hard about posting a pic of the ex for your kick boxing.

Tasha---Glad that yoga helps. Like Jennifer, I am just not a yoga fan. Not sure what the difference in power yoga, but I am glad it works for you.

Toni---I don't own the high step but I do think I want some extra risers one day. Always some goodies to keep my eye on.

The other day DH asked me what I wanted for my bday. I smiled at him and kindly reminded him that I had already told him so I don't plan to tell him again and he better get it right. :D We joked around the house about it for a long time while he named all kinds of things that he heard me talk about. I reminded him that I clearly showed it to him and told him that I wanted it for my birthday and that it was a "hint" or anything he had to figure out. About an hour later, it clicked and he remembered I wanted Cathe. Well---not sure if he got it right cause it sounds like he was referring to Xtrain and I asked for TTM and CrossFire. I guess I have to clear that up!:D

Good morning ladies :)

Yesterday's w/o was PUB. Before I did the workout, I knocked out some push-ups, 21 consecutive on my toes :D. Taking my back into consideration, I had to sub some of the moves which I found to be straining on it. Double arm rows were a no-go, so I did 1 arm rows instead. Same w/double arm kickbacks. For some reason, I have never liked pull-overs. Besides from not really feeling it in my back like I should, I'm always afraid the weight is going to come crashing down on my face . I subbed with pull/chin-ups on my tower in a supine position and bent knee. It was a great workout all in all. My back is feeling much better today.

Is Anyone here familiar with Cardio Coach? I was looking at his Pump workout and it looks pretty cool. I like that all his stuff is downloads. I'm just wondering if I can do his other cardio w/o's without any indoor cardio equipment. Maybe he will inspire me to start running outdoors, who knows.

Heartymax
So your b-day is coming up, that makes you a Leo right? Gotta love my compatible fire signs (I'm an Aries). Unless you pass the 21st and then you're a Virgo.
SO funny about your DH :D. I'm sure he'll get it right ;)
Your push-up counts are stellar as always. How the heck do you get to 19 on your last set????

Jennifer
I wish I could lend you my Yoga w/o's so you could test them out...or dare I say make an illegal copy for you :D.

Toni
How high is your step on HST? I don't have a high step topper, and can only go up to 12inch on my regular full step. Would that be enough to get a challenging w/o?

Have a great one ladies!

TGIF.
This morning I did 90% of TriSets UB; I skipped a few sets since I also did my pushups and I was short on time. My numbers haven't been all that great but I'm still sticking to the program. Craig is progressing very well and I'm happy for him; it's nice to see him pump up his chest to show me how strong he's getting;)

Last night was the Fitness Challenge class and I did a lot of pushups so that could have been why my numbers today were low (I did a 6th set to make up for it). The class has a lot of different exercises and a lot of them have a balance aspect to it (eg, 1-leg squats and then bend over and touch the floor before coming back up). It's very humbling:eek: I'm very glad I am doing this, though; the girls in the class are nice, I'm having fun, and definitely getting more exercise and balance training that I expected.

Tasha, thanks for the thought of loaning me your DVDs or going to prison for me:D I'll let you know when I try one; I'm very curious to see if I will finally like some kind of yoga.

21 pushups?! That's awesome, woman! Going with pull ups for back instead of the pull-over is a great idea. I might just steal another idea from you!

I have heard the words "Cardio Coach" but that's about it. I'll keep an ear and eye open for anything about it.

So you're an Aries and a Fire sign. I'm Air and a Libra (and a Dog based on the Chinese year). Have you heard of The Birthday Book? It's a very interesting take on a person based on the day of birth. I'm not much into Astrology any more but I used to go to the Birthday Book when ever I met someone new. I think it's pretty accurate for the most part, but I think nurture over nature has quite a bit to do with personality, too.

Heartymax, so glad your pushups are going so well! I hope he gets your birthday present right:) When exactly is your birthday?

By for now; have an awesome Friday!

Tasha----21 consecutive push ups is great! Continue to take it easy with your back. I am a Virgo!

Jennifer----DH emailed me yesterday and asked which Cathe I wanted. I told him To the Max and Cross Fire but asked him to wait and order that night (which neither of us remembered). I plan to pre-order XTrain so I wanted to make sure I can take advantage of any free shipping and discounts with the combined order instead of ordering separately. Gotta look at that tonight.

My sister in laws (brother in laws wife) family is giving her a surprise party at our house this evening. So I have been up cleaning the house and DH working in the yard to get ready for the event. No workout for me today. Unless you can county vacuuming and scrubbing:D.

Hello everyone!

Yesterday was my rest day but we went to Fairy Lake (the nice park I frequent in Newmarket). Lots of walking and outdoor activities.

Today I did a little mix&match cardio. Crossfire Premix (fitness blast+plyo tabata) + Intensity high/low hiit section (I know how much you love that one Heartymax ;)). Total time 40min.

I'm going to our town's annual Carrot Festival today. It's pretty much a street festival with food, fun, games. It's called "Carrot" because my city Bradford, is the Carrot Capital of Canada or North America, or something like that.

Jennifer
LOL, guys are so "showy & proud" when it comes to their muscles :D. Mark has been the same. He keeps telling me to touch his biceps . I must admit though, he is getting very big and muscular :D.
Your fitness classes sound rockin'. WTG for doing them!
I love pull-ups for the back. It's the only thing that really does not strain it. All those rows can tax-out the lower back big time :(.
I will check out the Birthday Book, sounds like fun. I love reading about Astrology and stuff like that.

Heartymax
Vacuuming and scrubbing IS a workout! Have fun at the party tonight :)

Have a good w/e everyone

Hi ladies,
Saturday I did TriSets Lower Body... I had completely forgotton about the 1-legged squats while picking up and putting down weights. I was a little better at it this time around since I had just done something similar earlier in the week at the gym class.
My legs are a bit sore today, and I didn't do any workout at all because I figured a rest day would do me good.

Tasha, That's so funny about Mark telling you to touch his muscles! How nice to enjoy, eh?!

Fairy lake and the Carrot festival sounds great - I love where you live, sounds like a great place. Lots of things to do especially for the kids.

The full title of the birthday book is The Secret Language of Birthdays by Gary Goldschneider and Joost Elffers. If you get a chance to check it out let me know what you think.

Your workout sounds great, too. A nice firey-intensity, or should I say an intense fire?:D

Heartymax, I agree with Tasha - cleaning is definitely a workout. I'm sure the party was great and I'm looking forward to hearing about it. How did they get her to your house - what was the scheme?

I suppose I will see what else is going on.
Have a good night!

The party was great! We told my sister in law that I was having a jewelry party and I asked her to invite her sister as well so they came together. She was very surprised. I enjoyed seeing her have fun with her family, coworkers and friends. Her family was very late getting to my house to set up (which we expected since they can't ever get anywhere on time) and DH was left doing more than he expected to---but what matters is my sister in law had fun. They cleaned up as promised and that's great. My boys enjoyed having lots of cousins to play basketball with outside during the party. We were super exhausted after everyone left. We slept until around noon yesterday.

Pre-ordered Xtrain along with my bday present from DH (Crossfire and TTM and firewalker bands). Tasha I can get my endurance back up to hang with CF and TTM.

Jennifer---I am glad that your DH is enjoying the push up challenge. It definitely does improve the upper body definition. I guess that is one of the great benefits of P90x even though don't own it. That is just an assumption that I am making because I know it is heavy with push ups from what people say.

Today's workout was STS disc 9 legs. I didn't work legs last week and that is a must to keep them in shape. So I figured I better start the week with my leg workout. I must admit that nothing shapes and tones my legs like STS. I love Butts and Gutts but STS does more for my legs than anything else. I just wanted to throw in one of the workouts today. I have always thought about just going through STS and doing just the leg workouts each week and doing my other Cathe for upper body and cardio instead of all the discs. Something to think about trying. :D before I get Xtrain.

Hello everyone :)

The Carrot Fest went well. SO MUCH FOOD [enter throw-up face here]. My mother came with us, and all she kept doing was buying food, and eating...and eating...and eating. I don't ever think I've told you about her. She has struggled with body image, eating disorders, and weight fluctuations all her life. She is a chronic binge eater and is obsessed with food (in a bad way). I have tried to help her countless times, but it's in one ear, out the other . Just like a drug addiction, you have to want to help yourself. Unfortunately she is getting very big and now looks like a 9 month pregnant woman . Anyway, of course I had to sample everything :p. I knew I would be burning it off.

Instead of MM Sunday, I needed a bit more cardio, so opted for BM2 blasts circuits w/leg work + upper body portion. Total time 60min. The cardio I did on an 8inch step, matching Cathe. I did squats and lunges with a 40lbs barbell (Cathe uses 20lbs). Upper body I did ok too. Back and chest I can match Cathe. Shoulder's, just barely. Bi's and tri's, ha ha not even close .

Jennifer

I will check out the b-day book most definitely :).
I hope you enjoyed your lovely rest day :).

Heartymax
I pre-ordered Xtrain on Saturday :D. I almost forgot .
Crossfire & TTM are hard no doubt, but nothing slays me like 40/20 or CCC til' this day.
I like the idea of doing STS legs each week. My fav discs were M1 for legs. M2 was killer too, but I loved the variety of M1 the best.
Glad your party went well :).

Have a great day ladies

Good morning everyone. My workouts have pretty much come to a halt again. My nephew came up for a visit a day early on Thursday. That same day, my mom told me that they have stopped giving my grandma food and water since she isn't swallowing. I guess without swallowing, they will go into her lungs which is much worse. I left my nephew up here at my place and drove to see my grandma for what will probably be the last time on Friday night (somehow she is still holding on when I last checked with my mom this morning). I did come back Saturday since my nephew and his friends visiting most of the rest of the weekend was spent with them. At this point, I may just abandon STS since with everything going on right now, I don't feel I am giving the program my all and I am not getting the best benefits from it due to that. With all the stress right now, I think doing more cardio would be a better choice anyway.

I will come back later and get personals in. Bye for now.

Good afternoon!
This morning I did Cross Fire including the low impact tabata bonus. (green smiley face).
After the warmup I did my 1st set of pushups; barely made it. I am struggling and am losing my endurance; I think it's because I've added too much rest time between sets... I'll go back to the workout, then pause and do another set of pushups, and repeat the cycle. I did it last week and started it this week, too. Sigh... I'm still working it out. I'm not quitting!

Stacie, I am sorry to hear about your grandma. Take care and enjoy your cardio.

Heartymax, the party sounded great! How fun to surprise someone, too:) The jewelry party was a nice scheme.

As for YOUR birthday, way to go on getting XTrain and CF/TTM on super big discounts. What a nice birthday gift!

So, Heartymax and Tasha, what is it about the STS legs that work them so well? What makes it better than Gym Style Legs or Butts and Guts or Lower Body Blast?

I agree - it seems that legs (or thighs and buns anyway) lose their wow-factor easily:mad:

Tasha, I am sorry to hear about your mom. Is she into walking around the block or anything? I wonder if there's anything out there that can help, but I'm sure you've tried everything you can think of. Does she know she has a problem or does she just think she's enjoying herself and food? Some people say "I want to enjoy my life so I eat what I want." I think that's BS but some people really do believe it.

Way to go on BM2; what a great workout, and congrats on being able to match Cathe on just about everything!

Have a great day everyone!

Stacie
I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. Do whatever you have to do for yourself and your family during this difficult time.

Jennifer
Ha, ha. My mother walk? Nope. Around the block? Not even down the street. No, she knows she's overweight. She tells me all the time she is fat and needs to lose weight. She is an emotional binge eater, and has destroyed her metabolism from all the years of yo-yo dieting and eating disorders. The only thing that will help her, is herself. Until she learns to have a healthy relationship with food, she will continue to gain and even worse, develop obesity-related diseases. When I suggest things, it's like a nail in concrete. It does not set in. I told her time and time again, her portions are out of whack. Whatever, thanks for the concern anyway :).
Yay for Crossfire!! I like the Low Impact Tabata too :).

BB tomorrow! Have a good night everyone!

Stacie---Sending a big hug your way. Hang in there.

Jennifer---I agree with you about having too many rest days between can really impact the endurance on the push ups. I was doing much better when I really focused on doing them every other day. Either way---progress is being made and you and and I are hanging in there---modifying when needed. I know week 4 is going to be ridiculously hard so I have to figure out what my plan will be. Getting 5 sets in is a struggle by then. I will do whatever I can and take it from there.

Today was Day3 or week 3 push ups... 16,21,15,15,21 (at least 21) followed by Drill Max. I skipped some of the sections that focused on legs since I did STS legs yesterday. Trust me---my hamstrings are reminding me:D

Looks like several people of getting their pre-order in before the deadline.

Natty---I am excited about TTM and Cross Fire. I wonder which one I should try first?

Good morning ladies :)

I was a good girl yesterday and did Supreme 90-Day Core (love it!) + Jillian's Yoga Meltdown (love, love it!). Total 60min. For those who hate Yoga or just can't get "into it", I would highly recommend Yoga Meltdown. It's totally not what you would expect, more athletic as opposed to spiritual. Anyway, both workouts flowed very well together, working my core with various plank poses. I haven't done Yoga in about 1yr, but I'm surprised at how much I've advanced as far as keeping/holding the plank poses and going deep into the lunges without having to quit early from a burning quad. The Chaturanga push-ups (aka Tricep push-ups) I was able to knock out, and hold at the bottom (that part is a killer!). I owe it all to STS :).
I have been neglecting my core a bit, and that's probably what's aggravating so many lower back problems. A friend from my other check-in has inspired me to add some horizontal work to my weekly rotation with Yoga and core. She has the entire Horizontal Conditioning workouts and they are super crazy hard.

Heartymax
I like TTM more because it uses the step, but CF has that insane firewalker Tabata . I did the Triple Tabata premix on CF and it totally kicked my butt. TTM has a hiit 30/20 that if done with no modifications, is a knockout w/o in under 30min. Low impact Tabata's are on both DVD's and good for a lighter cardio add-on (you know me, nothing beats plyo). So many premixes, so little time :D.

Have a good one folks!

Good afternoon!

Today was STS Total Body. It was tough and I was completely spent by the end of the reps. Instead of taking on the bonus burns I dropped to the floor for some pizza presses and glute squeezes to work my thighs and buns extra hard.

Tasha, good job on the workout! That's a good point on the connection between your lower back and lacking the abs workout.
Way to go on getting stronger with the poses - especially with those triceps!

I'm sorry about your mom. It's frustrating to see the ones we love have those personal battles; they just can't seem to shake it. I really hope she is able to shake it one of these days.

I didn't make it to the library to check out the workout video section, but I have the Meltdown on my list so I don't forget about it.

Heartymax, Way to rock the pushups! And also take on Drill Max. Glad your hams are talking to you from yesterday's workout; always nice to feel the work.

Have a good rest of the day:D

Hi, me again.
This morning I did To The Max but only the first half-hour; it was a nice 30-min Interval workout and had me huffing hard and dripping sweat!
I skipped pushups today but will do them tomorrow in addition to the Fitness Challenge class in the evening.

I viewed a couple Jillian DVDs from Collage Video; one of her moves is what we did in the gym class except in the class we held weights... it really works the stabilizing muscles of the scapula.

I also went ahead and purchased 2 of her workouts; Yoga Meltdown and Killer Buns and Thighs. They both looked really good; Tasha, you're right about the Yoga - it is not the traditional yoga. Thank you for the tip.
What I like about the Buns/Thighs workout is that it seems to really concentrate on lifting that area without doing tons of squats with a barbell or deadlifts.

I think both those workouts will be a nice addition to my Cathe rotations... a change of pace.

We're going to the baseball game tonight for my company picnic - funny how they went from a picnic to a ball game but I definitely am not complaining; I prefer it this way. I had to buy an extra ticket for Craig but I'm glad they are allowing the spouses and family to join us, and the ticket was inexpensive because it was a group rate.

Have an awesome day, ladies!

TTM and Crossfire arrived yesterday. I haven't even opened the envelope. I hope to get to preview this soon---maybe even this morning since I am up earlier than usual. Started my workout at 4:00 since I was wide awake. I did my consecutive push ups. I got to 26. I must admit that I was disappointed that I couldn't get to 30---but the strength was just not there. Either way-----my next week plan is the same. Based on my results, I am still supposed to do column 3 of week 4 but I am planning to stick with column 2. Anyway, after my push ups I did the upper body first (which includes the back) of High Reps followed by 30 minutes on the elliptical.

DS14 has a freshman football scrimmage game today so he is very excited. He had high school orientation last night and DH took him to that. DS10 has meet and greet to find out who is teacher is this afternoon. This is a very busy time of the year personally and I work since I am gearing up for a new school year.

Jennifer--hope the baseball was fun. My boys love baseball. They are hoping to score some Nationals tickets when the playoffs start.

Natty---can't wait to check out TTM and Cross Fire. I wonder how many curse words I am going to pull out the bag.

Good morning ladies :)

Tuesday's w/o was Plyo legs W4. I can officially say that my cardio endurance has improved dramatically since finding Cathe 1 year ago. I can do all the plyo with no modifications and keep up with Cathe pretty well ;). My tuck jumps are high, my air jacks are wide, I can jump on a 12ich step height with ease (which is not easy since I'm 5'1). I was extremely sore yesterday :D :D.

Yesterday's w/o was PUB. The DOMS is hittin' hard already :D.

Jennifer
Ha ha! Enabler's strike again on the Cathe forum! Yoga Meltdown is a goodie :D. I think you'll enjoy it and reap all the benefits from Yoga without feeling like you want to fall asleep. My favorite dancer's named is Vasheera (? I think that's her name). She is a classic pear shape and so incredibly beautiful and toned. Her body is smokin' hot! She motivates me greatly.
Let me know how you like Killer Buns & Thighs. I'm interested in that one too.
Oh and I forgot to tell you about The Biggest Loser Weight Loss Yoga! That one is my absolute #1 FAV!! It has excellent reviews on Collage and is also more athletic as opposed to spiritual.
I hope you enjoyed the baseball game! Sounds fun :)

Heartymax
I can't believe you have a 14 and 10yr old! I hope the football scrimmage goes well and also the high school orientation.
Wow on the push-ups. I love HR UB portion. Heck, I love that whole workout.
I'm sure there will be plenty of curse words during both workouts

Toni & Stacie
Hope you are both doing well :)

Have a wonderful day ladies :)

Hey everyone. Sorry I haven't been around. This week is ridiculous. 3 football practices, 2 cheerleading practices + 1 private lesson, 1 middle school orientation, 1 high school orientation, 1 6th grade camp orientation, 3 hair salon apps, 1 barber shop appt, and 2 sleep overs. All this week. I'm tired :).

I have been working out though. Three days this week so far: AfterBurn, HIgh Step Training, and KPC so far. Tomorrow will be some type of circuit workout. I've decided to do a two day on one day off schedule for a while. It will give me the chance to sleep in a few more days a week :)

Tasha - that is awesome about your cardio endurance! About the high step. I own ten risers. cathe usually uses four to five rises. I just do whatever she does, but I think out would be ok if you only have four.

HeartyMax - defiantly agree this is a busy time of the year. I just got TTM. I Ttried to watch it last night, but I fell asleep. What I did see looked tough. Not sure what day next week I will try it.

Jennifer - I hope you had fun at the company game!

Just a quick check-in...

Yesterday's w/o was 4DS high/low Intensity Step cardio 50min.

I'm going to the beach today sans child :D:D. I need a break.

Happy Friday!
