Push It

Can somebody get me a respirator because I sure feel like I need one after this workout this morning. I don't know what is wrong but I had to keep stopping to catch my breath. I was doing Hiit 30/30. Haven't done that one in an extremely long time---but hey AfterBurn is no joke so I couldn't believe that I struggled through this workout this morning. Maybe today is just not a great day--it is TTOM but I wasn't feeling sluggish when I started my workout. Maybe my body knows something that I don't. The original plan was to do Tri-Sets lower body after Hiit but no way after how I felt.

I did week 3 day 1 of my push ups first and I couldn't finish those either. The count was very similar to the day 3 of week 2 but with less rest time so maybe that had something to do with it. My count was 14, 18, 14, 14 14 (was supposed to be 20). I am not sure if my breathing is correct when I am doing push ups. If I could figure that out I think it would make a huge difference for me. Anyway, I am going to try day 1 again later this week and if i can't do it I will move to column 2 instead of column 3.

Not the success I was looking for today but At least I work out right???? :D

Natty---I don't see how people work out 7 days a week. My body is just tired and need a break. I know some people work out 7 days but one of those days is just stretching or yoga so maybe that's not too bad. Ocassionally, I get in 7 days but you better believe by day 10, I am taking a break and end up taking two days the following week or something similar. My body needs that break. I try to get in 5 to 6 days a week. Never been a fan of two a day either.

Does anyone watch Extreme Makeover, Weight Loss edition. I have watched it the last two Sundays and it is pretty good. What amazing stories these people have. Last night was about this 31 year old man and he weighed over 500 lbs and wasn't able to play with his kids who were about 5 and 2 maybe. He such an amazing weight loss story over the year. I like the show. It last two hours from 9 to 11. I wish it came on at 8. :D

Have a great day ladies and I hope your workout was better than mine today.

Good morning!
This morning was day TWO this morning. I hit my numbers for sets 1-4 but missed the 5th set by 7.
Then I did Circuit Blast; I decided to do some of the pushups in that workout and consider it a 6th set; 14-16-12-12-10 (s/b 17) and then another set of 10. Maybe that's what I need to do?! We'll see.

I haven't checked out the Burn Out disscussion in a while but wow - 7 days a week for over an hour and then sometimes 2 workouts in one day?! Gotta wonder what is driving some of those women, right?! No mystery there on why any of them get burned out! Geesh!

Heartymax,
LOL! Yes, you got to laugh at me back:D I'm still going with the "our brains haven't woken up yet" theory!
That is a very good thought - doing column 2 instead of column 1.... hum...

You're doing great with your workouts (and pushups)! Honestly the HiiT 30/30 (and 40/20) are total killers if you haven't done them for a while.
True, Afterburn is super tough but it is a different type of workout. HiiT is ALL cardio; Afterburn you get a bit of a break from cardio by going to weights.
I think it was just a shock to your body! And as you said, you surely are still giving it your all:D

I have not seen that weight loss/makeover show but I'm sure it'd make me cry! I frequently watch The Biggest Loser and the stories and successes are so inspiring. I'll for sure have to check out the Makeover show. While I'm at it I'll have to check out David/QVC.

Tasha, I didn't realize the cancer treatment is paid for; that is a big plus. To clarify, I didn't know the girl from Canada who went to the US for treatment; it was a story I heard on the news. I thought it was awful that she had to leave her country to get treatment but overall of course the main thing for her is that she did get treated.

My thought on a gym and group exercises classes is that you will definitely meet new people and make new friends! Lots of people go to classes by themselves, and seeing the same people every week in an energetic environment is the breeding ground for friends. In fact that's how I met some really good friends - from classes at the gym. Eventually we started getting together for birthdays and holidays, and sometimes happy hour.

I've been thinking and I don't think I'll end up taking all the same classes my friend is taking - I am more interested in the MMA (beginners) and Kickboxing.

Step Moves and LBB (barre); that sounds like a great combo. I still haven't figured out Step Moves! I should give it another go-around. Anyhoo, following up with Crossfire sounds perfect! You're so funny - has anyone done the premixes! LOL! I agree, 70+ minutes of that would suck the life right out of me for at least a couple days!

oh yeah - mojitos are awesome! I've had one once and if I weren't a creature of habit I would have remembered to have that instead of a marg!

M'kay, I best get. Have an awesome day!

Good morning everyone :)

Yesterday's w/o was Crossfire Low Impact Premix, which means mountain climber's & plank jacks [insert green throw-up Smiley dude here -- we need one of those]. You guys know how much I love em'. Despite my hate, I did every single one to tempo, even the jacks w/push-ups. I was a wonderful, sweaty mess.

Heartymax
There is nothing wrong with you regarding feeling like you wanted to die during 30/30. Completely normal when you have not done hiit training/tabata in a long time. IMO, Afterburn (although tough, don't get me wrong), cannot really compare to any of the hiit's. I find the only intense parts of Afterburn are the plank exercises, whereas the entire hiit workouts, every single exercise is intense. Another tip, if you need to add something on-to a hiit workout, do it before. They suck the energy right out of you and by the time it's done, you may have nothing left. Until this day, I still cannot add anything to 40/20, not before nor after. But that's just dandy by me :D.

Jennifer
I misread about that woman coming to the US for treatment, I thought you knew her. My bad
Regarding the Crossfire Extreme premixes, yup people have done them. A lady from my STS thread check-in has her whole month planned doing Crossfire Extreme & TTM Extreme as part of her cardio . NO THANKS. Perhaps in the winter ;).
Circuit Blast is so fun! I have not done it in a long time. I remember those push-ups at the end too. Great idea about adding them to your push-up counts.

Gotta jet! Have a great one ladies.

**anyone watching Breaking Bad??***

Hey everyone...I'm back. Got back in town last night. After a very drama filled weekend, my mother is in the hospital. It appears that she's had a steroid induced manic state. When she was in the hospital for her COPD issues, they gave her steriods to help her lungs out which triggered her current problem. My mother is not happy with me(well she's not happy with anyone in my family) and she isn't in a state to grant the doctors the right to speak to me, so I kind of am just in a waiting pattern until she gets back to normal. We aren't sure how long that will take, but at least she is safe and being cared for.

No workout for me today. Jasmine has to be at camp at 8am and that chopped an hour off my workout routine this morning. I was so tired and drained from the weekend, that I just decided to sleep in.

I have to get back to work, but just wanted to pop in and say I'm back. I'll post full personals tomorrow and whatever workout I get in :)

Good afternoon everyone! The trip was pretty good overall even though my son got stung twice by wasps (in the same day even!) and was a little bratty. My mom got extremely tired so we saw less than we had planned to but it was still nice to get away. I would love to camp over there because it's really pretty. I will post some pictures and post the location of them when I do.

This morning I did the Chest & Shoulders part of STS disc #13. I will finish up the triceps tonight and hopefully knock out a leg workout as well. My arms were shaking for a bit afterwards. I feel a little crazy to actually like feeling that way. I noticed a slight decrease in strength (around 5%) since I took two weeks off. I am sure with muscle memory I will catch up again quickly. The plan is Chest on Sundays, Legs on Monday, Back on Wednesdays, and Chest from Meso #1 on Friday. The other days will be random cardio and dog jogs. Now that school starts up again, hopefully I will be able to keep up with this schedule!

By the way, the Rykas I have are the white and coral ones. The styling I didn't like at first was the white plastic on the shoes. I thought it made them look a little cheap but it was one of things my sitter loved about them. The blue Rykas from CF and TTM are in stock in my size and Retailmenot has a 20% coupon listed. I want to buy a pair for my mom as well since it is absolutely ridiculous that woman would rather try to hike in canvas shoes then to spend the money on a decent pair of shoes. She spent almost the entire time during the hikes hanging onto me so she wouldn't fall. I am planning to use these shoes as everyday / walking shoes and still with the Pegasus ones for working out. Honestly, the Pegasus shoes feel like they were custom made for me. I am not willing to give that up but they are extremely pricey! The Rykas will allow me to save them for solely working out purposes since I have still have the random heel pain. When the pain kicks in, I will wear the Pegasus for a few days until it goes away. Now I can use the Rykas instead!

Ohh....for the back to school shoppers...REI is offering 20% off of an item from the REI-outlet online. I was able to pick up last year's model of a Columbia jacket for my son for half price with the coupon and the outlet pricing. Hooray!

Natasha
The OD thread about burning out is sad. It's hard to force yourself to workout sometimes when your heart just isn't into it. I know she was doing Insanity which is pretty extreme. I hope she can find her way back to a happy spot.

Glad to hear you are loving the new workouts! I still haven't tried them out yet. I want to stick with the dog jogs as long as I can because once the winter hits, the apartment complex becomes and icy mess and the dog jogs will end.

HeartyMax
I also enjoy watching those weight loss shows. They are very inspiring and motivating. Not only is it wonderful to watch people take control of their weight but it's also an eye opener as to what can happen to ANYONE that doesn't their health a priority. There was a show called Brookhaven that was on for awhile that I used to really like. The interesting thing about it is that all the patients were extremely obese and the ones who followed the clinic's plan were able to loose weight without surgery.

By the way, I find the HiiT DVD to be very hard! You did great for tackling it even if you felt tired afterwards. At least CCC gives you core breaks...the Hiits are just brutal.

Jennifer
I think you will love the group classes. You are so sweet that I am sure you will make friends quickly! That's great that Craig is doing the pushups with you. Isn't it nice to have common ground with a partner? :D

Toni
I am sorry about your mom and her medications. It is extremely hard to have a parent get mad at you for trying to do the best for them. I hope they can find the correct medication combination for her soon. I hope you are doing ok as well since you really have a lot on your plate right now!

Have a great day everyone!

Good afternoon,
Yesterday's gym outing was fun; I did not end up doing the Kickboxing, though. It literally was partnering up with people one-on-one with the boxing pads... I can see how it's good training for the real Martial Arts but it turns out to be super expensive and I really was just looking for some fun with a low monthly rate. Self Defense would be nice but I'm not looking for that right now.

Instead I did a class called RIPPED (cardio/plyo/weights circuit) and it was really fun and good; my shoulders are feeling a bit tight today. It definitely is not a Cathe-caliber workout but I enjoyed it. I did all the pushups and there were a LOT but they were broken up into a circuit-type set training. I think it will help (or hurt) my Hundred Pushup challenge.

This morning I did Slide and Glide then only the Hamstrings/Glutes section after that.

Stacie, I'm not sure if it's wasps or hornets that don't have a stinger but when I got stung by a bee last month I ended up going to the doctor a few days later definitely feeling silly about it, but it was a good thing I went. I had to get a Tetanus Shot since I wasn't up-to-date on it. Turns out bee/hornet (or wasp) stingers carry bacteria and THAT is what causes the tetanus... not just from a rusty nail as I always thought.

Sooo... just in case your son isn't up on his tetanus shot you may want to look into that; they go with the diptheria/pertussis combo because (apparently) whooping cough is going around.

Anyhow, good idea about keeping the Rykas for everyday use; I do the same thing with my workout shoes to keep them as low-mileage as possible.
I'm glad you're fitting your mom with a decent pair of shoes:D

Good job on your workout! Sounds intense especially after 2 weeks off! I guess you've finally got that cold or whatever knocked out of your system!

Toni, So sorry to hear about your mom. To take a page out of Heartymax's phrases -- HUGS! Definitely sounds like you needed the rest; ease back into your workouts when you are well rested.

Tasha, wow, woman! you totally rocked that one! It's awesome that you did every last one of those! And I have to say the green smiley face is perfect for what you pulled off:D I know I have felt that way before, for instance recently it was Crossfire!

Not familiar with Breaking Bad - I guess I don't get enough TV! That's another one I will have to look into!

I so gotta go - feed the dogs and take the cat to the vet.
Toodles!

Hi everyone! Today was my first day back at work. I woke up around 2:30 AM and couldn't go back to sleep until about 3:30, so I slept til 6:00---jumped up and squeezed in 45 minutes on the elliptical before getting ready for work. It was tight---but I made it out the house and packed my lunch. It was a great first day back.

Stacie---ouch on the wasp stings--poor baby.

Toni---Sending positive vibes your way.

Good morning ladies :)

Hello everyone :)

Would it be bad to say that I wanted to lose "5 vanity pounds" for an upcoming wedding & baby shower :D? I don't know if my body weight will budge though, and I'm not going through any drastic measures to lose that weight. I would also like to see a little more definition in my legs, so perhaps that 5lbs will come off the bottom instead of my chest, which are probably as small as you can get .

I have decided to forgo split workouts for now, as I want to hit my LB and UB twice each/week, while getting the best bang for my buck in a least amount of time. I also feel as though I should do a strict rotation of the same weight workouts each week
for 1 month.

Here is my exercise plan for the next month:
1 Upper body (PUB)
1 Lower body (plyo legs or LBB)
1 Total Body (Muscle Max)
2X Cardio (1 of those days will be hiit/tabata/intervals)
1 day of Yoga (I'm bringing it back)
**not in any particular order, just a guide**

Yesterday I started this rotation with PUB (lol, I downloaded it ). My thoughts? Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. Holy crap! It was TOUGH! Talk about eating the humble pie.

Stacie
Your poor boy getting stung by wasps twice! I feel so bad for the little guy :(. I'm glad to hear you had a lovely time overall. Yes, please post pics :).
I'm so jealous you got the Ryka's coral/white. If you ask me, they are pretty sexy ;).
Have you ever done Insanity? I think I'm the only one on the planet that does not wish to get brutalized by Shaun-T. I'm all for extreme stuff, but that just seems a little too nuts for my liking.

Jennifer
Did you know Jari Love does Ripped classes at her local gym in Vancouver? Super cool you are doing that! Sorry to hear about the kickboxing not turning out. Self defense classes are super expensive here too.
I hope you cat is ok. Was it just a check-up?

Toni
I'm sooo sorry to hear about your mother. I hope she recovers well.
I can imagine how exhausted you are. Try to get some much needed sleep and R&R. {{{hugs}}}

Heartymax
You are so good for squeezing in a 45min elliptical w/o at 6:00am.

Have a great day ladies!

Good morning everyone! I couldn't get my leg workout in last night because someone was being a little monster and didn't want to go to bed. Luckily, I had done a workout in the morning. I will either push the workout to tomorrow or do it tonight. If I don't do it tonight, I will do some sort of cardio instead. Maybe even one of the new DVDs!

Jennifer
Sorry to hear that the MMA/Kickboxing class didn't work out. You are right though that some of the gym classes can be super expensive. Ripped sounds like a lot of fun though and I am glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks for the tip about the stingers -- I had no clue that they carried tetanus. He is up to date on all his shots and I can't even tell where he got stung at now. Hopefully it will stay that way!

HeartyMax
Great job getting in a workout even though it was the first day back to work.

By the way, someone pointed out in the Ask Cathe forum that the current presale prices for XTrain end August 21st! I hadn't caught that all when I read the newsletter. Thank goodness someone else did! I wasn't sure if you knew that or not.

Natasha
Your rotation looks pretty awesome! I have thought about doing one total body workout each week as well. You will have to let us know how it works out for you.

Insanity is one workout I have absolutely no interest in doing. Everything I have read and seen about it scares me because it looks like it's a recipe for injury. I would rather have a less intense workout than to risk being out of commission for a long time.

Have a great day everyone!

Natty---I absolutely love your rotation idea! Yes, PUB is one tough workout. I mostly use the premix pyramid down but the other day I did the entire workout. My biceps were sore for a few days. After doing STS----you can think the weights are light but oh my----all those sets are torturing.

Jennifer----Today was supposed to be push ups but my neck/shoulder felt tight the last couple of days so no push ups for me. Hopefully I will feel better because I definitely don't want to go too many days without doing them in order to continue to improve.

Stacie---don't we just love our little monters. My big monsters are taking over the basement in the summer and sometimes I want to workout to Cathe and I hate waking them up to move. Like today, I really wanted to do a leg workout but ended up walking on the elliptical because it takes them about 5 minutes to clean up all the blankets, shoes, socks, water bottles, IPOD players, etc. that they have in my space. It's summer so I try not to give them a hard time. At least they move when I tell them too---I just hate doing it. They enjoy hanging out in the basement den area during the summer. Maybe I should rent out their bedrooms..

With that said-----today was 40 minutes on the elliptical.

Hi!
This morning was Low Impact Challenge.
I guess I'm not sticking to the rotation very well but tomorrow I am going to the gym to try a Fitness Challenge class. It's a variety of everything but different than the Ripped class. However I do plan to start my day doing PUB.

Heartymax, sorry to hear about your shoulder and neck. Actually I am feeling some of that myself. My chiropractor says to keep the pace normal instead of picking up speed and pumping them out. Something about the bursa. I wonder if icing your shoulder and stretching (really well) the chest and triceps would help.

It's so sweet that you want to rent out the kids bedrooms (just kidding!). Seriously, it is gracious of you to sacrifice your Cathe workout for the kids. Good job getting back to the daily grind:)

Stacie, do one of the new DVDs! I'm still dying to know how the Rush Fit is! Sorry about your son interferring with your w/o plans, though.

I also don't want to do Insanity. I don't think I could even if I wanted to because of all the impact!

Tasha, Your program sounds great! How long do you have to lose the 5lbs? I hear ya' on shooting for losing it in the buns instead of the chest... that's what happens to me, too. Good thing working your chest will make it look bigger:) It's motivating to have an upcoming goal. When is the shower? Remember to eat as clean as you can, too... then you can eat 2 pieces of cake (if you want):D

As for Ms. Duchess, she is now at peace. She had been sick for a few years (pancreatitis and hyperthyroidism which ate away at her:() After this weekend I knew it was her time and I just couldn't let her suffer any longer. (thank you for asking, though:)) It seems empty around here because she used to follow me around everywhere and of course today I looked at the places where I usually see her. I think one of the dogs is relieved to not be attacked by the cat today! LOL!

Very cool - I didn't know Jari Love does the Ripped program; it's fun! I do think there are some people who would not consider it fun. I guess we are a lucky group of people because we actually enjoy exercise. I mean, sure - it'd be great to not have to work for results - but you know what I mean.

We're having spinach salads with chicken thighs for dinner; gotta use up the cucumbers and tomatos that have grown out of control in the garden.
TTFN!

Well hello DOMS UB :D:D. Oh man, this one is rough. MY ENTIRE ARMS + CHEST + BACK + ANYTHING ELSE UP THERE is hurtin'. I think I'm going to like this rotation :D.

Yesterday's w/o was Plyo Legs W3. I totally kicked some serious booty . I did all the plyo just like Cathe, all the same step heights (yup, even the squat thrusts jumps on a 12inch step), every single rep to tempo. I successfully completed all the damn rock climber's (oh dear hell). The one legged squats into a jump (BRUTAL) I did too, except for the very last rep when my leg cramped up. My highlight was the lateral jumps over the step topper. I DID THEM ALL!! I was proud of me :). I owe it all to the hiit's, especially 40/20.

Jennifer
I am so sorry to hear about your baby cat :(. Mine suffered from severe pancreatitis 3 years ago and almost died, but the vet was luckily able to perform a miracle and save the little guy. I wonder if my cat also has developed hyperthyroidism, as he is not able to gain any weight and looks very thin. He is acting normal, not sick or anything, but he is also 14yrs old and getting very old. It hurts so much to see a pet suffer, since in my eyes they are like your children. {{{hugs}}}

Heartymax
I hope your neck and shoulder's are feeling better.
My DH loves the elliptical at the gym. Since getting back into it about 2 months ago, he has lost 10lbs and gained so much lean muscle already. He says he is back to lifting the same heavy weights he used to before we had our daughter (when he stopped going). Muscle memory is amazing...and I'm super jealous he can get results in such a minimal amount of time .

Stacie
Oh, I know all too well about having a little monster in the house . Mine can push me to the breaking point sometimes...but she's my baby and I love her to death :). I'm sorry you could not get your leg workout in though :(.
Have fun w/the new DVD's! Can I suggest To The Max first? Or if you're feeling energetic, try the Triple Tabata Premix on Crossfire

Have a good one ladies!

Good morning! Last night I did half of the Low Impact premix on To The Max. I liked the part with the step and the gliding discs quite a bit. However, I was slightly disappointed with the 30/20 Hiit only because I was not prepared for high impact since I had chosen the Low Impact premix. I didn't even have my knee braces on and I hadn't done my extra knee stretches. Anyway, at least I know what to expect for next time! I did preview a bunch of other sections of the DVD. I think I will do the step tabata next time. Cedie looks great in this DVD but Jai looks even better. I can't believe how nicely toned her body is in -- I would never guess she is in her 40's! Completely amazing!

I think I will change up my planned rotation just a tad...I will skip the Chest disc from Meso #1 just for this week. Instead, I will do one of the RushFit discs just to try the program out. So, hopefully tonight will be legs (maybe only half) and a RushFit disc.

HeartyMax
You are a super nice mom to let the kids take over your workout area and not by annoyed with it. I workout in the living room and it's a battle between us over the TV if I want to workout when my son is up. You are right though to just get upset -- they grow up so quickly and before you know they will be gone living their own lives.

I hope your soreness goes away soon.

Jennifer
I am sorry about your cat. Pets are like family and it's really sad to loose one. It's also horrible to see them suffer. Poor kitty is in a better place without the pain now.

Natasha
PUB is good stuff! I have only done the upper body portion and like it quite a bit! Way to go on getting all of plyo legs in! I am still not so great with all the jumping moves Cathe does so I am super impressed that you were able to keep up.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Jennifer- sorry for the loss of your cat. Pets bring so much joy to a family.

Tasha--I am so impressed with your endurance level.

Stacie- I find that summer is practically the only time kid really have to just chill. School year is packed with so much homework and projects until the poor kids hardly get to have fun sometimes.

No workout at all yesterday. DH massaged my shoulder and I used the heat pad on Wed nite and decided to rest it Thursday. We had my sister in law and brother in law over for dinner last night. It was her birthday. Her family is giving her a surprise party at our house next weekend. I am very tired this morning and just resting. Will get back to my workout this weekend.

Good morning everyone :)

I have my cousin sleeping over, so no workout for me yesterday. I spent the day doing laundry, grocery shopping and cooking dinner. I made Thai red curry chicken w/sugar snap peas, onions, broccoli, orange peppers, over a bed of Basmati Rice. It was delish :p

Today will be something cardio, but I'm undecided. My butt is really sore from Plyo legs :D.

Mark and I are talking about going back to Cuba next year. I need to renew my passport, and get Bella one too. I was looking at pics and literally melted. I cannot describe how pristine and beautiful that island is. The people are quite amazing too, very hospitable. The women are so incredibly fit, very lean but curvy with nice round tushies ;). A lot of them are pear-shaped, small chested, so I fit right in there :D.

Heartymax
Hope you feel better soon. Epsom Salts helps with muscle soreness too.

Stacie
 The low impact TTM premix has hiit 30/20? That's all high impact. Very strange. The low impact on Crossfire is true to being low impact...but get ready for lots of mountain climber's and plank jack w/push-ups .
Yes, Jai looks amazing
As far as the plyo, I feel fortunate I can do them. My knee's are temperamental, but I found that landing softly while bending your knee's (never locked) and using your quads and core to engage the jumping moves, take pressure of the knee joints. The puzzle mats have helped tremendously too. But heck, you can run/jog, and I find that a lot tougher than any plyo move out there :).

Have a great one gals!

Good morning!

I took the Fitness Challenge class last night; it was fun and definitely a workout, but again - cannot substitute Cathe workouts.

That's for sure about Jai and Ceidi - they look amazing. I did PUB this morning (didn't w/o yesterday moring after all) and Jai looks amazing in that one, too - I mean, SUPER sculpted!

PUB was awesome. Love it! I'd only done it once before and then I got all caught up in TriSets.

I skipped pushups today because I had limited time today and really wanted to do PUB. Plus I think I needed a break from pushups; I was glad they didn't appear in PUB!

Thanks for the condolences about my Duchess; I still think I hear meows sometimes and expect to pop up from behind the couch but I'm getting used to it. She's not in pain and that does make me feel better :)

Tasha, I'm glad your cat was able to recover from pancreatitis. That is some bad thing as you know. If your cat starts acting up you may want to get her thyroid checked.

Way to Go on the Legs workout! You really kicked some butt, especially the lateral jumps over the topper - Geesh! Keeping up with Cathe is always something to cheer about:D

Congratulations to your DH for losing 10lbs; guys do lose weight and increase muscle mass easier than us girls.

So your lower body is still sore, what about your upper body?

Enjoy your company - your dinner sounds wonderful! Craig and I had Thai food last Saturday; absolutely love it!

Stacie, guess that high impact was an interesting surprise, right?! Like you said, you'll be better prepared for nex time. Other than that I'm glad you liked it!

Heartymax, I hope your shoulder/neck are feeling better really soon. I was reading info yesterday about pushups and shoulder pain. First, I don't know about you but "they" say to warm up before doing them. Have you been warming up?

I have not been (warming up) so from now on I will do the warm up of whatever dvd I'm doing and then go into my pushups. If I'm not doing a DVD that day then I'll do arm swings and light stretching.

Secondly, "they" say to keep the elbows back instead of out to the sides. They say the shoulder joints don't like the elbows out to the sides during pushups and it can cause tendonitis which is what attaches the muscle to the bones (I always get that confused with ligaments which is bone-to-bone). I have been guilty of keeping my elbows like a goal post instead of trying to keep my elbows back so I need to work on that.

I certainly am not trying to undermine your knowledge or assume anything, it was just stuff that I read because I was having issues, too, and thought it might be helpful.

It was very sweet of DH to massage it for you:) The surprise party sounds fun, and I'm glad you were able to have a nice dinner as part of the celebration.

I need to get to work; have a great day!

Tasha, I forgot to mention - how COOL about going to Cuba! You're not going to have any problem fitting in because you are beautiful!

Good morning ladies! This morning I did a portion on one of the Rushfit discs just for you guys. I have to say...I loved it! It was really good. The workout starts with a 10 minute warm up followed by a 25 minute circuit. I only did half of the circuit because I had to call the IRS about some stuff and then get ready for work. Anyway, the 25 minute circuit is broken down into 5 minute rounds with a minute or so rest between each round. In each round there are 4-5 or exercises that you do for 50-60 seconds before switching to the next one. I love how every exercise is chaptered which amazing since they are only a minute long. They do move quickly so I did loose a rep or two for each exercise because I didn't know what exercise to do at first. The rounds I did were completely body weight exercises but definitely good for the core. Burpees, air squats, some horrible squat invention that I can't remember the name of, pushups, planks, etc. The trainer for George, Eric, has a timer and he counts down the last 5-10 seconds of each exercise. Eric also does a great job of explaining modifications, giving form pointers, and telling you how this exercise will make you stronger. Since I didn't do the entire workout, I can't say whether or not the later rounds have weights or not. If they don't this would be a perfect workout for non-weight days.

I got an email for Amazon.com today about Body Beast from Beachbody. A while back there was a thread about it and how people were really liking it. They are offering just the workouts and books for $90 with free shipping -- everywhere else wants like $200-$300 for the workouts, books, and supplements. It's tempting but I still need to order XTrain!

That is definitely true about school and not having much free time. My son is only going to be in second grade and he had homework every night in first grade. I am sure second grade will have even more.

I was confused too by HiiT 30/20 being considered low impact. I kinda think there was an accident during the editing and that the core portion was supposed to be part of the premix rather than the HiiT. That would have made it pretty low impact. Anyway, it is what it is and I know for next time!

Cuba!!!! What a lucky girl!

It is VERY annoying how men seem to be able to loose weight so easily. My ex the marine was able to drop 20lbs in three months just be doing a little more cardio and laying off the carbs. I haven't seen him at all since he got back into town (and honestly, at this point it's doubtful that I will) so I have no idea if he gained it back or not.

I love hearing about your fitness classes. I sometimes think a gym membership would be good for me -- it would force me to go out more and maybe make some new friends. However, I haven't done it because I got hooked on Cathe and I would feel so bad picking my son up from daycare at the school only to drop him off the daycare in the gym again. Maybe some day...

Have a fantastic day everyone!

Stacie----It definitely sounds like Rush Fit moves at a fast pace. Would you say it moves fast like Meso 1.

Jennifer---I totally agree with everything you said and I appreciate your input. As for warming up, I truly believe that is a piece of it. There are days that I do the Cathe warm up and then do my push ups before completing the rest of the workout. Then there are days that I make up my own warm up and it is probably too short. My shoulder is better---but not back to normal so I am just going to take it easy. I am hoping to get back to doing my push ups next week. If so, I am going to definitely be dropping down to column 2 for week 3. Like I said, I know I will never be able to do a 100 . Maybe, if I can do 4 sets of 25 without too much rest in between that would be great too.

Natty---I asked DH for TTM and Crossfire for my birthday. I pulled up the Cathe website one day and showed it to him. I bet he has totally forgetten all about it. I am going to be SOOOO mad if he does.

Hi Toni. How is your mom?

This morning was Gym Style Legs. I started out with barbell squats so I had to position in well not to aggravate my shoulder.

Good morning everyone :)

Yesterday's w/o was Step Blast. I consider it Cathe's *best* complex choreo step. Fun, innovative moves? Check. Rockin' music? Check. Sweat? Check. Blasts? Check. I love it so much :).

My DH would have totally forgotten . I think you will like TTM & Crossfire. It will really push your cardio endurance, especially the full blown high impact sections.

Could you possibly be the sweetest, nicest person on the planet? :)
Isn't PUB amazing? No push-ups and yet my chest was SCREAMING
Cuba is a very special place. We've been 7 times and every single time we've had a blast. Perhaps the Mojitos had something to do with it ;).

Are you enabling Rushfit? ;). Sounds like a great program. Are you going to do a full rotation of it? Is there a lot of equipment involved?
It's amazing how vast the home fitness industry is. I never knew all that stuff existed until I came on this forum. I'm also amazed at how many programs people have done (P90X, Insanity, Turbo Fire, ect.). It's super cool that you've had a "taste" of so many programs. I still feel like a virgin in that department  :D.

Have a good one gals!
