Push It

This morning was 40 minutes on the elliptical and planks. Our air conditioner doesn't seem to be working well and it is supposed to be hot today. DH left for work and said he will try to call someone to come check it. I decided I better go ahead and get my workout in early before it gets too hot in the house. I sure hope it doesn't need to be replaced. I don't want to begin to think of the cost.

We went over to some friends yesterday evening. It is so nice enjoying my weeks off and just having some fun. My brother is having a family get together at his house tomorrow for those of us who live in this area. We did it last year and had a blast so he decided to have it again this year. I guess I can say my eating won't be the best this weekend.

Jennifer---sorry your workout didn't go well yesterday. I don't eat before my workout either so I know exactly what you mean. Keep doing what works for you! I have never used flaxseed. I first heard about it years ago when I was doing the FIRM but I never used it. Do you buy it at a health food store and can you buy it anywhere?

Good morning everyone. Yesterday's workout was only a walk due to talking with the ex. Apparently he knew it was me the entire time and was just messing with me with all those crazy stories -- extremely annoying but kind of funny in a way since I totally fell for it. Anyway, I spent a couple of hours telling him what a jerk he is for disappearing for a year. He spent them taking it like a champ and saying he was sorry over and over again. At the end of it, he said "I have really missed you." I will never understand men. I really don't know what to do about him -- I am still in the thinking/processing stage. He definitely is NOT getting off easy this time even if we just remain friends.

A funny thing happened today at work...I was listening to a hip hop song on my phone on the way into work. When I went into work, I went to adjust the volume on my ringer and for some reason the song started blaring. Unfortunately, it was at a part where the words are "with her legs up in the air". So, not only was this blaring through the cubicles but there were also some swear words coming from me since I couldn't could get the darn thing to shut off fast enough. Talk about embarassing!

Natty
I have always just used the 1RM values as just a guideline. If I am feeling stronger that day I will try to go a little higher. If I am feeling weaker, I would lower the weight I used. Right now, I think I would be completely off since I am so hit or miss with my workouts right now. I am glad to hear that you are still getting some benefit from the set. I think you would like Pure Stength a lot if you don't have it in your collection. It's my second favorite stength training set.

HeartyMax
What a great way to spend the last few weeks of the summer! Friends, family, and bbqs are definitely where it's at! I hope the air conditioner repair isn't too expensive. Hopefully it's just a clogged vent or something easy.

BTW...I see flax seed at a lot of places now -- even at Costco and Sam's club. Health food is becoming more main stream. Hopefully it will stay healthy...

Jennifer
I hate when a good workout goes bad! Luna bars can be pretty heavy which is actually why I have stopped eating them. Was today's workout better?

Toni
How awesome is it that you met your husband online! Lots and lots of people do online dating now since everyone is so busy -- it's really hard to get out and meet people. I love hearing about success stories.

Baby stuff has gotten really expensive. Do you have a Burlington Coat factory there? They have baby stuff for good prices. Kohls also has some good deals when they have sales. Retailmenot.com will almost always have the 30% coupon code listed on their site if you have a Kohls card. I have saved so much money that way.

Have a great day everyone! Only two more days to the 5K! Woot!

TGIF, right?!
Much better workout for me today (aka: no preworkout food); Athletic Training. I needed something low impact and I wasn't up for Afterburn.

Before AT I re-did day 2 of week 1 of my pushups and had much better success; I finished all the reps - 10/12/8/8/12. I took a couple seconds extra rest before each of the last 2 sets. Heartymax, yes - the PUs are the first thing I do:)

Tasha, (just to switch it up:)) That's cool - enjoying my beloved TriSets and going with the groove instead of that "magic number" as you said. I can imagine how that messes with the mind at times:eek:

Foam rollers work to smooth out and stretch the fasia tissue that connects the muscles and nerve endings. What happens when people get knots in their muscles is that (from what I understand) it is really the fasia that gets balled up; it needs to be gently stretched/massaged which helps the muscles relax because the facia is not so tight and pulling. It's supposed to be smooth and glide with the muscles but that is not always what happens without manipulation (rolling). That's another reason why hydration is important.

I'm not exactly sure what is going on with your back but a foam roller or rolling a tennis ball (Stacie mentioned a stability ball) over the muscles very well could help your back since it will reduce tightness and smooth out the facia of the nerve endings... that is what I'm thinking, anyway, since foam rollers are big in physical therapy sessions and with sports enthusiests:)

I get knots on my shoulder blades so when I drive to work during the crazy commute I place a dryer ball (hard, plastic ball) against the seat and lean back on it. That has helped significantly.

Heartymax, Woo Hoo! Good job on the pushups! And good luck with the a/c.
I buy the flax seeds at a regular grocery store and grind them in a coffee grinder; sometimes I buy it already ground but supposedly that decreases the potency (although probably not by much). I use Bob's Red Mill (something like that) but there are different brands.

Since you mentioned planks I gotta mention that the sports conditioning guy from Saturday's workshop had us do planks and he reminded us to squeeze the glutes and legs, keep the shoulder blades back and strong, and keep the neck long. What a difference!

I'm glad you don't need a new prescription, and really glad you had fun with the friends and kids:)

Stacie, Um, wow - wait - I think I'm caught up. I just read about the ex being online but now it appears that he was joking with you. Ya know, to each his/her own, but I will say just don't rush into anything.

That is SO funny about that part of the song blaring through the cubes! I can relate to that - that song "I love the way you smack my a**" is the part that went through my entire office. I don't even realy like that song but the volume on my radio must have gotten bumped so when I turned it on there it was.

Toni, I was thisclose to doing Low Max today. I love the music and the workout. Good job for getting any of it in - apparently your schedule is as crazy as Stacies!

I hope I didn't miss anything but I must get going.
You lovely ladies have a great rest of the day!

The guy came and replaced a part outside on the AC unit. He was here for about 15 minutes and it cost $160. I am grateful DH was able to get someone to come out right away. It is too hot to be without air.

Jennifer- glad you had success with the pushups. No more preworkout eating LOL!

Hello ladies :)

Yesterday's workout was Rhythmic Step. My legs are still DOMS'ing big time from M2, W1 leg disc. You know how much I crave DOMS right? Well for my legs/glutes, if I have problems walking or sitting on the toilet, I know I pushed myself a little harder than usual. Yup, mission accomplished :D

Today I went to see Batman w/DH and sister. GO WATCH IT!! TWO THUMBS-UP!! EXCELLENT!! Christian Bale is my hottie of all hotties :p. Ever since I saw The Machinist, I knew that guy was special.

Jennifer
I'm sorry to hear about your workout "fail" (that's what we would call it here). Isn't it amazing how food can severely affect our workout performance? I love your after-workout replenish drink :p. I should try it, it sounds very tasty.
You can call me Tash or Tasha :). That's what most people call me actually. When I signed up for the Cathe forums, I used mini-natty because I think that was my password for another website.
Wow! You are doing great on those push-ups!! Isn't Heartymax a wonderful motivator ;)
Thank you for the tips/info on the foam roller. My lower back has been a problem since my early 20's. My job of unloading heavy skids/totes totally destroyed it. It will never be the same, even with rehab & acupuncture (which I've done countless times). Instead of breast implants, I would actually love a back implant ;).

Heartymax
I love your push-up counts. I strive to get there like you have :).
Ohhh, I love sliding back lunges! They get in the glute sooo well.
I like how you entertain for your boys and their friends. I think I'm going to be like that when Bella starts school. I love little boys :).

Stacie
I hope you and your ex are able to still remain friends (if that's what you want of course). I'm still friends with mine from high school, but he lives in another province in Canada.
Funny about the music! I love all kinds of music, and that includes rap w/swear words.
Pure Strength looks like something I would like. STOP ENABLING!

Toni
Why not start STS? You don't have to follow the 1RM, just take a more laxed approach. Throw in some UB/LB discs in there and see how you like it. What have you got to lose?
I have so much baby stuff I'm sure I won't be using. If the shipping does not cost me mega $$, I can send some your way.

Have a great night ladies ;-)

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope you are geared up for a great weekend with some fun stuff to do. I am looking forward to hanging out with my family today.

Today was Week 2 day 2 of push ups. My count was 14,16,12,12, and 20 (was supposed to be at least 17). I was planning to do After Burn but changed my mind and did Athletic Training after thinking about all the killer push ups in After Burn. Anyway, I forgot there were a few in AT, but I just by passed them;). That workout has a pretty good ab workout at the end too.

Tasha---the rest period between the sets helps me push out a great number of pushups. I know I will never be able to do a 100---but I like the structure of the program. It gradually helps you increase at your own rate over a 6 week period. You are so funny about loving your DOMs. I definitely understand. It reminds you that you had a REALLY kick butt workout.

I have my physical on Monday and I am really afraid all this fun I have had this week may show up on the scale.

Just a quick log in before I HiiT it and get on with a busy day (errands, dinner/festival with another couple).

By the way, the opening ceremony of the Olympics was very clever if you ask me. And Mr. Bean during Chariots of Fire totally cracked me up.

Tasha, omg, indeed! Christian Bale is so gorgeous! I saw him in Superman; I will have to see The Machinist, and also the new Batman movie. Craig will watch those movies with me but he prefers to wait for Netflix.
I still haven't even seen Magic Mike! Geesh!

I'm glad you're loving your DOMS:D As for your back, I had to laugh about the back implant but I am sorry to hear how bad it is :( I wonder if a gentle foam roller would help?? They have different amounts of firmness so to speak. I don't *think* it would hurt to try but it would be a good idea to make sure that it wouldn't do more harm than good.

Stacie, good luck and have fun in your 5K tomorrow! I meant to comment about the dog issue during your dog jog... our dog (Whisper) behaves like that, too. ALL the time. It's annoying!

Heartymax, think "light" when you're on the scale :) Besides, I would be surprised if this past week really impacted your weight since normally you don't eat like that and you still have been doing your workouts. In fact, sometimes a calorie splurge revs up the metabolism so much so that some people even lose weight!

SO glad your a/c was fixed quickly - $160 for 15 min? We are in the wrong business!

Take care chickas; until later.

Happy Saturday ladies :)

Very quick post (BBL to write personals)

Today's workout will be High Reps UB premix (30min) + TBT UB express premix (20min).

Tomorrow will be High Reps LB premix (25min) + 4DS Higher Intensity Step (30min). I wanted to add a 2nd LB workout/week, but I also want a little cardio since my eating has been kinda off these past few days.

Yes, I am mix and matching again Jennifer ;)

Have a great day :)

Had a great time with the family yesterday. I ate well but didn't extremely over do it. I had a small amount of wine and a slice of cake. My cousin baked the cake and she is a really good baker and cook!!

This mornings workout was AfterBurn. I had to skip that last set of sliding planks with the push ups I was wiped out after the first set. Its one of those workouts that i struggle with if i go without doing it for while. I remember a couple of months ago i was doing this workout about once a week and i was doing great. I have decided to really limit my carbs today and keep my fingers cross for a decent weigh in tomorrow.

I think I'll start school supply shopping this week. I can only put it off for so long. Its a sign that summer is coming to an end. I have one more week off and the kids have 4 more off.

Hey ladies

Hope you all had a great weekend :). Today I'm going to check on my aunt's cat (she is on a friggin' cruise ship right now  ) to see if she has food/water and change the litter. After that we are stopping by my cousins house so Bella can spend the afternoon with her little 3yr old cousin.

Yesterday I went for a 4 mile walk alone while DH watched Bella. I swear, walking is so therapeutic.

My workout was High Reps UB/TBT UB premix I posted about. It was great, but I was feeling a bit tired.

Today I did High Reps LB premix + step portion of SJP. I wish Cathe would come out with more kickboxing step :(. It's super fun :)

Jennifer
I hope you had a nice dinner/festival with your friends :). I hope the food was super yummy :p
As for movies, we usually wait until they are released on Netflix too, but Batman? No way! Some movies need that theatre experience .

Stacie
Good luck on the 5K!!! I know you will totally kick some serious booty!

Heartymax
Summer + food + drinks = fun ;). I'm sure the scale will be just fine. If not, you know that scales are evil liars right?
Afterburn is so darn plank heavy. Perhaps that's why I rarely reach for it

Bye bye for now!

This morning I started out with my 5 sets of pushups (57 total!) - I really struggled with it but I plowed through!

I followed up with Power Hour; it is good but aren't they all?! Someone had mentioned PH on the forum and I realized I have that DVD and have only done that workout once. I like Maximum Intensity Strength, which is also on the DVD as well as the original Body Max (which I couldn't get in to so thank goodness for BM2!). My upper body feels fried.

I watched the RT Meet and Greet and the Fashion show; they looked fun. One of these days I plan to go!

The festival last night was a Lantern Festival of Japanese culture; it was really amazing - I mean, we're talking building size lanterns! Lots of walking - the place was HUGE - so that was cool.

Dinner was just okay; I'm not a picky eater at all but this place had a fairly boring and limited menu so I just got a half-pound hamburger.

Tasha, so glad you were able to enjoy a nice, peaceful walk while Bella got to spend some quality time with DH.

As always your workouts sound awesome; I bet your upper body was pretty tired with that combination! I hope your lower body gets to share in the joy after the next combo :)

I bet the kitty was glad to see Aunt Tash:D I'm sure you enjoyed seeing kitty, too, and that she's growing like a weed!

Cool - thanks for the tip about Batman; I agree, some movies do have to be seen in a theater! Avatar, for example.

Heartymax, sounds like a great day yesterday! So glad to hear it :) Wine and Cake always make a good day!

Good job tackling Afterburn - that workout is so tough! Those sliding/dragging planks - The good thing about that part is that the end of the workout is near! I have a love-hate relationship with that one, that's for sure.

School supplies... sigh. A definite sign that the summer is almost over. Will the school schedule give you some what of a break?
What about you gals, Stacie and Toni,, do you get a bit of a break from the hectic schedule when the kids go back to school?

Okay - we FINALLY are getting some rain. I'm so happy about it I might even rope Craig into taking the dogs for a walk in it (I'll go too, of course)!

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Good morning everyone. So, the 5K didn't happen. Well, it happened but we didn't go. I had been waiting to register because I didn't want to sign up and then loose the money on the race if my grandma passed away. The last day to sign up online was Friday and I couldn't get a hold of my mom to see how grandma was until the night. However, even though it wasn't midnight yet, the online registration closed before I could register. I could have registered on the race day but the fee increased to a point that I wasn't willing to pay that much money just to be in a race. Sure it was for a good cause but still... I was kinda bummed out about it but there is always next year. I still plan on doing the dog jogs but just a couple of miles each time. I haven't been doing them that often since this cold has been lingering on for weeks now. I have a ton of chest congestion that just won't go away. I am giving it this week and then I will head into the doctor. I really hate going to the doctor but sometimes you just have to!

Jennifer
As usual your workouts are fantastic! Great job! I wish I was as motivated as you are with the pushups! The lanterns sound so pretty. I think the Asian cultures have some of the most beautiful things. They can make even a simple thing look absolutely gorgeous and like a piece of art.

Our schedule will get a little easier when school starts. One thing that will help a lot is my commute time will be shorted by quite a bit. During the breaks, my friend watches my son. I use her instead of the school daycare because it helps her out plus it keeps her on backup for snow days and days the school day care closes for in service days. However, driving to her house adds an extra hour of commute time everyday.

HeartyMax
Good to hear that you were able to get the A/C fixed! I can't believe how much they charge though just to do simple things sometimes. I guess business is business but still...

How did the physical go? I am sure your weight was just fine with as much as you workout!

Natasha
Walking is really peaceful isn't it? One day you should try canoeing...it has the same feeling of a nice walk. I think that's why I feel in love with it at the boyscout camp. Once we got to the other side of the lake it was pure bliss. You couldn't hear much but the birds and sound of the paddle in the water. I really want to get a canoe and take it up to some of the lakes around here. I will have to save up for that purchase for a while though.

Toni
I hope all is well with you.

Have a fantastic day everyone!

Happy Monday :) It seems like everyone has posted many times since I've checked in. Hope I don't miss anything......

Friday I just went for a 2 mile walk with DH. Not sure I would call it a workout as I barely raised my heartbeat, but at least I wasn't laying in the bed. Saturday is my normal rest day. Yesterday was KickMax minus the kicking drills. I detest jumping lunges...yuck, yuck, yuck!! That last set of singles I can never get through!! Today I started STS offically. I lowered my weights from my 1RM and that felt right. I'll increase from there and see how it goes. Looking forward to it though. Today felt really good with the lower weights.

Got caught up on a bunch of stuff this weekend. School clothes are purchased and school supplies and my kids rooms are back in order again. I have no idea what my kids do to the dresser drawers in their room. Stuff is just thrown all over everywhere...ugh!!

Tasha - thanks for the kick in the pants to just start STS!! I really want to finish it before Cathe's new series comes out, so I needed to start really soon.

You are making my head spin with the mix and matches of workouts...LOL!!

Jennifer - Holy push-ups!! Good job!!

No school only adds to the schedule in my household(think homework!!). It seems that once football starts in the summer my life is over until about March :) Basketball closely follows football. I only allow my kids to do one activity at a time apiece. I'm just not sure I could tolerate anymore!! I think the main problem is that my daughters cheerleading gym is 20 minutes in the opposite direction from everyplace my son needs to be. So that makes things really tough. The good news is that I'm in a car pool this year, so I only have to go about five minutes away to pick her up on practice days. And the friends house I pick her up from is very close to anything my son does. I'm not gonna know what to do with all my time

Homework is a whole other subject. My son has a reading defiency(sp??) and he used to require a lot of time with homework. Things are much better now, but these next two years I really need to concentrate on my daughter. She is much more capable than my son, but her work ethic needs much work :) Once I get that under control with her(no whinning about having to do homework) her natural ability will kick in and things will be much smoother.

HeartyMax - your time off sounds lovely!! Glad all the get togethers are going well...I'm jealous of the time off :) And you are another super star with the pushups....I'm seriously thinking of doing that 100-push up program after STS.

Stacie - sorry that cold is lingering. I totally understand what you mean about the doc. They never seem to know anything and they you get this giant bill....ugh!! Sorry about the 5K race and I hope you grandmother is ok.

Stacie----Sorry you didn't get to run race, but I definitely understand your reason for delaying the registration process. Your training was part of your workouts and staying healthy so it's all good:D

Toni----I don't want to begin to think about work ethic. My DS14 is very capable and waits to the last minute to do things. He is going to high school next year so I told him that this is the transcript that colleges see so he need to stop procrastinating and do his best all the time. He is smart---but is very inconsistent. He hasn't played a fall sport is a few years. I told him now that he wants to play football that he better make sure he is paying attention in class so completing his homework and studying will be easier.

Okay---as for my physical. I didn't have it. My appointment was at 11:00 and I arrived 10 minutes early. Shortly after arrival, the nurse assistant took me back to do the normal weight and blood pressure routine and I returned to the waiting area to wait to be called back to see the doctor. The nurse assistant told me the doctor was running behind. Well it was 12:00 and I had not been called. I had waited patiently for one hour so I thought I would go to the desk and ask the receptionist to how much longer. I do not expect running behind to mean that I will be waiting an hour. The receptionist shook her head and told me that this particular doctor is always running behind and stated she needs to learn to stay on schedule. The lady came back to tell me the doctor still had one other person ahead of me. The poor lady knew that I had been sitting there a long time. I was watching people who arrived way after me come and leave. Of course, they were there to see another doctor on the team. For the next several minutes, I asked myself how long was I willing to sit there. I started thinking that they had me come in last week to do the lab work, so the doctor had those results already. The nurse assistant took my blood pressure and weighed me. The doctor was going to ask me if I had any concerns and review my lab work (cholesterol, blood pressure, etc.) I decided that I would not wait past 12:30 which would have been an hour and half. At 12:20 I went back to the receptionist and asked if the doctor wanted me to go home and call me with the lab results as I should not be expected to wait this long. She got another member of the team to speak with the doctor. This lady then came out to sharing the doctors apology and stated the doctor would call me. She said that there was still another person ahead of me. Keep in mind, they told me that at 12:00 and it was now approaching 12:30. At this rate, I anticpated that I would not see the doctor until 1:00 or later which would have been 2 hours or later from my original appointment. I told her to please let the doctor know I expect a call today. I understand that doctors run behind, but this is ridiculous. I have never had to wait this long to see a doctor. We have Kaiser Permanente and I love the place and you can get everything done under one roof. However, I don't have to go to this department very often because I am rarely sick. I haven't had a physical in 2 years so I figured--hey let me get it before I go back to work. They encourage you to come every year---but with waits like this no wants to schedule an appointment. Now, I am waiting for the doctor to call me. I will give her until close of business tomorrow and if I don't get a call---- I will then write a letter of complaint. I am contemplating whether I want to change to another doctor on the team since the lady commented that this doctor is always running behind. I know a couple of months ago, my DH had to go to the doctor and his doctor ran behind well over an hour. The doctor apologized and told him that she had to break some bad news to a few people ahead of him and she didn't want to just leave them so that is how she got behind. I tried to think about all that while I waited---but with the receptionist commenting that this doc is always behind---made me think otherwise of my situation.

Anyway, I am thankful that I feel like I am good health. I will wait for the doctor to call. As for my weight----I weighed 142 pounds on the doctors electronic scale. The nurse assistant told me that they deduct 3 lbs for clothes. I just looked at her because I know there is no way that my tank top and shorts weighed 3 lbs...LOL! So she recorded my weight as 139. I should have asked her to record it as 142. Anyway, regardless of what she recorded it as, I know that 142 is normally what the scale says when I go to the doctor so I am very very very happy!!!!!:D

Thanks for listening to my doctor visit VENT! No workout today but I will be at it tomorrow.

Okay---Update. I emailed the doctor so that I would have my concern in writing to her. She called me upon receiving my email to apologize. She explained that several patients from other Kaiser centers were walk in today. How do you just show up without an appointment. when you are sick, the procedure is to call advice line and they will schedule a time for you to see a doctor at one of the centers. The center location where I go is very large and has all the departments that some of the centers didn't have. Instead of going to see their doctors these people just showed up here. I told her that I understand life or death----but these people are not in a life or death situation because they would have gone to the hospital. They should not have taken priority over my appointment. The patients decided they probably needed CAT scans and MRI and they couldn't get these things at the center they attend so they came to this location without contacting the appointment line first.

She was very apologetic and I made it clear that I understand--but don't expect this to ever happen again. I have to take my son for physical therapy tomorrow so she asked me to drop by to see her when I am done for my physical. She told me that she is scheduled to leave at 11:00 but she will wait for me to finish with my son's 11:15 appoinment in the other department. She stated that she really wants to make it up and will wait for me to arrive. I told her that I expect to bypass the nurse assistant routine and I only need to see her.

I hope I don't sound like I am difficult person because I do have patience. Procedures are in place for a reason and when people don't follow them---others are impacted.

Anyway, she did tell me that all my blood work looks great! No cholesterol, blood pressure or diabetes concerns!!! All of these things run in my family so eating healthy and exercise is so important to me. I know some of it is heriditary but I don't ever want the doctor to have to tell me I need to lose weight or change my diet for various reasons.

HeartyMax - I don't think you are being difficult at all. And I think you handled it well. I hate when I see people yelling at the receptionist or clerk when they are upset. As adults we should certainly be able to communicate our issue without acting like a child. I'm glad the doctor returned your call promptly and is going out of her way to see you tomorrow.

And that is too funny about your son. I ask my son all the time: When do you do your best? The expected response is: At ALL times!

Good morning ladies :):)

Sorry I was MIA yesterday. I forgot to tell you guys I had a big ant problem in the apartment. After trying to fix the problem ourselves for 1 very long month, DH and I decided it was time to contact the superintendent and get the house fumigated. Our fumigation was set for Monday 10am-11am, so Sunday evening we had to pull all the furniture away from the walls. The worst part though was coming home Monday (we had to leave the house for 5 hrs) to get the house back to it's original state. DH was kinda weary about the bedding and the poison, so he did about 6 loads of laundry (yes, he does laundry ). We did not stop until about 8pm, so that was my workout for the day.

Heartymax
I'm so sorry you had to wait that long for a scheduled doctors appointment. I've been there so many times, and your patience is tested that's for sure. I'm glad your blood work came back with stellar results :). BTW, you don't sound like a difficult person at all.

Toni
I'll say this once, and I'll say it a million more times, walking is GREAT! All those steps helps ward off weight gain, clear the mind, prevent disease, and just plain ol' wonderful for the body.
I'm glad to see you started STS :). I honestly think if you don't put pressure on yourself to get everything perfect, and have fun with it, you'll love the program.
My mix and matches are not that bad. I have mostly downloads, and so it's easy to finish one workout and start another.

Jennifer
WOW on the push-ups! Great job!!
Your Japanese Festival sounded wonderful. I truly love the Japanese culture and cuisine. I swear I was Asian in my past life ;)
I watched a few clips of the RT here and there. Pretty cool. The camera man sucked though. He would show the Cathe S&G discs for like 5min .

Stacie
I'm sorry to hear the 5K was a no-go, but that's ok, I think you did the right thing. I'm sorry to hear your chest congestion is lingering. Going to the doctor might be wise. Better to be safe when dealing with lung/chest infections. And this is coming from a woman who avoids the doctor like a plague.
I have done canoeing in my early 20's when a friend of mine's parents owned a cottage up north in Muskoka (lots of Hollywood actors/actresses own property there). They sold the cottage and I have not been back since. It was was relaxing and beautiful to say the least.

Have a great day ladies

Natty----hope the ant problem is resolved. I noticed that I see a few of them in the summer time if we leave any food on the floor, but we have had no major problems. Good thing you took care of it soon.

Today was Week 2 day 3 of push ups. My count was 16,17,14,14, and 21 (was supposed to be at least 20). I am scheduled to do another consecutive push up test before starting week 3. I will do that in a couple of days and give everyone an update. I did 50 minutes on the elliptical. I will be leaving shortly to take my son to physical therapy for his shoulder. He complains about it off and on so DH spoke to the doctor about during his physical. Xrays came back fine but they are recommending therapy since he plays baseball and want to play other sports. I just wonder how many weeks since I am now getting ready to go back to work. I guess I will find that out today.

Good morning!
So I finally got the chance to see Magic Mike:D It was good! It really was a fun movie and the scenerey was wonderful;) The language is a bit crude (tons of f-bombs) but I'm not offended very easily so it didn't bother me. Definitely one for a girls night out! Sort of makes me wish we had male dance clubs around here - you know, for bday parties or whatever - when "those" occassions pop up:)

Yesterday I did 4DS double cardio - higher intensity step and lower intensity step. I used 2 risers to really get my heart rate going and get myself all sweaty. It was nice; a feel-good workout.

This morning was Day 1 Week 2 with my 5 sets of pushups and made all my counts but just barely and with a few extra seconds of rest between most of the sets. 14-14-10-10-15 (63!).

After the PUs I did Afterburn - I skipped those pushups and instead high knees and also knee ins. As for the dragging/walking pushups I stayed on my elbows and dragged myself forward and back just to keep busy doing something... it's not as simple as I thought it would be but compared to what Cathe and her crew were doing it definitely was easy.

Heartymax, I agree with Toni - you handled the doctor's apt situation very well! And kudos to your doctor for trying to make it up to you. I really hope she realizes that your time is also valuable and seriously changes the way she approaches things.

I hope things are okay with your son's shoulder... keep us posted on that as well as how your doctor's 2nd apt went.

Congrats on your weight! Good point about tank/shorts not amounting to 3 pounds LOL! If you were wearing a belt and fairly sturdy shoes maybe that would have added a few pounds. Just goes to show everyone that the biggest impact on health is the over-all consistency of a lifestyle.

Great job on the pushups! It is amazing to me that you seem to always squeeze out that extra one (at least) in the last set! You go, girl!

Stacy, I am glad your grandmother is still doing okay, and you're right, maybe next year the 5K will work out. But I can understand being disappointed that you didn't get to do it, I know I would be.

You're a good mom and friend to go the extra miles so your son gets quality care while helping her. I hope you have good tunes to listen to during the commute so you can have some somewhat-stressless time while driving :) Do you ever listen to the CD Books?

I'm glad your schedule gets a little easier when school starts.

Tasha, what an ordeal with the ants! Hopefully they are all gone now. DH did 6 loads of laundry?! That's impressive, and the fact that he even thought about the fumes from the poison is also impressive!
Your functional workout was for a good cause :)

Toni, good hearing from you, and congratulations on taking the STS plunge! I'm excited for you:D

I'm with ya' on the jumping lunges. When I start to gasp for air and feel like I'm dying I do more pulses instead of switching and don't even try to keep up. There are times when even that turns in to simple forward/backward lunges! LOL!

That is funny about the kids dresser drawers! I really like what you say to them, too: When do you do your best? All the time -- that is awesome; it has to teach them to care and mind what they do.

What a good feeling to have all the school clothes out of the way - now you'll be ready for the XTrain price tag :)

You Super-Star moms have a great day!

My son will need just a few sessions of therapy. The range of motion for the right shoulder is slightly abnormal. They gave him a band to start some exercises at home.

My doctors visit went well. I had no wait at all as she had assured me. She was very impressed with all my blood results and actually said that my good cholesterol is one of the best she's seen. She said I am in good health and unfortunately so many people she sees are not. She encouraged me to keep up my lifestyle which i plan to anyway since it is a way of life.

She shared something that I have never heard before. She asked if I breasted my kids and yes I did for both. One year for my oldest and about 8 months for my youngest. She said that breast feeding is not just good for the baby but very good for the breast and helps fight against breast cancer.

All is well and I can cross a physical off my list of things to do.
