Push It

Today was supposed to be STS day but my son had a buddy spend the night and they slept in the basement den area. That is the area that I use for my Cathe so I had to walk on the elliptical today. Did 45 minutes and followed up with my planks. I guess I have to be happy that I was still able to get in a good workout. Today was day 3 of Week 1 of the push up challenge. Today push ups were 11, 15, 9, 9, 20 (the last set was scheduled to be at least 13). I start week 2 on Wednesday.

Jennifer
---Did you do your initial test over the weekend for the push ups are or you just going to go on what you already know that you can do?

Toni---I am having a hard time getting my eating back on track. I really would love to keep my weight at 140lbs but that has always been so hard for me the last few years. I either weigh 138 (which I don't like) or I go up to 144 (which I don't like). I am going to really try to bring some balance and keep it between 140 and 142 this year. I will see how it goes.

Good Morning ladies! Busy weekend for me but it was good.

Cathe is going to stream the NJ RT! I know what I will be watching, at least some of it anyway.

Yesterday I cleaned (must have caught the bug from Heartymax) which was a really good thing because we ended up with surprise company; then I went shoe/sandal shopping with a friend, and then Craig and I watched a silly movie called The Gardener (I think that was the name).

Saturday I took a Sports and Conditioning workshop that was sponsored by the American Council on Exercise; it was a 9-hour class. We learned a lot, and we also did some speed and agility drills (fun!).
Let me tell you - my quads are dead to me.

Yesterday I did Yoga Relax, iced them (my quads), took ibuprofen, used a foam roller AND "the stick", and I am STILL feeling them today. Seriously - I feel them even just moving them from one position to another! They are getting a little better so at least there's that.

Having said that this morning I did my push up challenge - 5 sets: 45 total (sounds so awesome when I say it:)) with 60 seconds rest between each set; I had to drop to my knees to push up on the very last rep in the very last set but I made the counts the program wanted me to.

Then I did TriSets premix Back/Biceps/Core. To finish out my hour I did the floor and ball work in Butts and Guts just to hit the glutes which didn't even get touched during the drills yesterday (apparently:mad:).

Natty, A shooting at a party?! OMG! How sad and awful. I don't know what is going on with these people! Is there going to be a service for the town?

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend; the stagette party sounds nice (and so did your meal!). You didn't mention a stripper jumping out of a manicotti noodle but that's okay. I didn't have a stripper at mine, either:)

4DS Upper body premix sounds great - I think I will do that one possibly on Friday, and then the Lowerbody on Saturday. I hope you don't mind that I copy you:)

The weighted vest and the 4 mile workout - So Impressive! How does that work with the Leslie workout? Do you listen to her on an mp3/ipod and walk outside or do you walk indoors on a treadmill? I've heard of her; she's top quality from what I hear.

Heartymax, GreatMats.com - Home Sport & Play 7/8-inch kids mats or home exercise room floor.
They were not cheap but really, you can't put a price on safety; they really help absorb the impact and I have less back pain since I switched from the Target and Walmart ones. I also wear better shoes than I used to, honestly, but either way these mats are better.

You probably also saw that I needed to buy a decent-size piece of carpet (from Big Lots) to put on top of the mats when I want to do the Slide & Glide workout or Afterburn (partial carpet); I'm mentioning it anyway just in case. The carpet doesn't slide and it is small enough to fold over and move out of the way.

As for the pushup challenge - I started where I knew I was instead of redoing an initial test. Is that what you did? Thank you for helping me get started! My assignment was successful but I did drop to my knees on the last one (as I mentioned above). 10 - 12 - 7 - 7 - 9 (45!) Good job to you - you blew away the last set; that's amazing, especially after being fatigued already!

I have an Oster blender and haven't had problems with my smoothies but I don't use ice, only frozen fruit; and I did learn that the fruit needs to go in last. Good luck with the Margaritaville - and definitely add some rum:)

Stacie, I hope you and your son are feeling better; I also hope your town is moving forward from that horrific event.

Toni, I hope your workouts are going well and.

I gotta get for now. Work Hard, ladies!

Good morning everyone. Last Friday I did a 2.5m dog jog and an STS chest and bicep disc. Saturday, I went down to my mom's house and helped her get wood. Some of those pieces were huge...I definitely got a workout. Unfortunately, her truck broke down when we got back (or fortunately, since it didn't leave us stranded!). Luckily, she had a friend help her on Sunday and he was able to get it running again at least temporarily. Needless to say, I was pretty beat so I took a rest day on Sunday.

I still have the sore throat and congestion plus some nausea on Saturday. Hopefully this week it will start to go away. I am excited that Rushfit arrives today. It's done is 5 minute circuits which is going to be nice. I might preview or try a disc tonight. I am supposed to run though since the 5k is this Sunday. Decisions, decisions...

It's been really sad here in Colorado with the aftermath of the shootings. All the local stations are playing tribute music and talking about it. The local news has been doing tributes about the victims. Some of the men who died were amazing men -- they died protecting their girlfriends. The youngest victim was a little six year old girl. The shooter almost killed her mom as well who was pregnant. It sounds like the mom and baby are going to make it but overall it's so so so sad.

Hello....my FaceBook feed is over flowing with conversations of politics, the Colorado shooting, and the Penn State sanctions. My head is spinning

I seriously don't understand what is going on in the world to bring us to the point where we have these types of tragedies. And the conversations that spawn from them about unfairness to players(Penn State) and people not having the right to bare arms just seem to trivial to be when compared to the victims of these situations. I wish I had some answers to any of this...ugh!!

Yesterday's workout was AfterBurn and today was Step Blast. My back is still not quite right. I have to really concentrate on my form to make sure that I keep the moves out of my lower back. The good news is that my form is much better than it ever has been during a step routine!! Also I think I'm getting much more of a leg workout because I'm doing the moves more with my legs now. It does seem to be working. I'm able to get through the workouts without any additional strain to my back, so I'm happy about that.

Stacie - I hope you continue to get better.

Jennifer - you and HeartyMax are putting me to shame with all this cleaning...LOL!! I usually leave it to my husband. Very bad I know!!

How do you mix all those different workouts together? My head spins everytime I read everything that you've put together to form a complete workout...lol!!

HeartyMax - it sounds like we are at the same place with out wieght. And is it just me or is eating healthier more costly!! I'm not going to be able to add any money to the grocery bill at this point, so I'm going to have to get creative within our current budget. But I'm going to continually work towards healthy nutritious options.

Good morning ladies :)

Yesterday's w/o was TTM hiit 30/20 premix (30min). I followed it with some push-ups :D. 17 consecutive on my toes, 30 sec rest, 10 consecutive, 30 sec rest, then another 10. I was pooped :(.

I am going to try and watch the live stream on the NJ RT.

Jennifer
Two thumbs-up on the push-ups! I can't believe you followed-up with Tri-Sets! My arms wold have been like Jello .
Your workshop sounded like fun. I love speed/agility drills/bootcamp style stuff.
LOL, no stripper. That would have been nice though ;)
Regarding the shooting at the party, the majority of Toronto shootings are unfortunately gang related. Innocent people get hurt in the crossfire. The shooting at the Eaton Center (Toronto), where that one girl survived but then got killed in Aurora, that was also gang related. She happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. So sad it breaks my heart.

Stacie
Now that you've been doing your dog jogs in addition to weight training, are you noticing any particular results?
I'm sorry to hear you are still feeling a bit under the weather. I hope it all goes away this week for ya :).
Did you preview/try Rush-Fit BTW? How is the trainer?

Toni
I'm sorry to hear about your back still hurting. I hope it gets better soon :).
FB can be a pain-in-the-a**. I love to hate it sometimes :D.

Heartymax
Your push-ups always amaze me. Do you want to start a pull-up check-in ;) :D

Have a good one guys!

A pull up challenge????----Very Funny Natty I think I will pass. But I am willing to cheer you on:D. Great job with those push ups and a 30 second rest is awesome. I wish Cathe allowed more rest. That 10 seconds she does is a joke.

Today was Disc 4 Chest, Shoulders and Biceps. I was not excited to be greeted by those drop set push ups. I managed to get through most of them but not at the pace Cathe does. I think I took about a 30 second rest. I opted to do chest presses for some of the push ups since I am doing the challenge and I did push ups yesterday and I have them on deck again for tomorrow. Jennifer---I hope that's not considered cheating.:D

Stacie---did you have a chance to preview Rushfit?

Toni---I wish I could get my DH to do more cleaning. I try not to complain too much and be grateful for all the wonderful things that he does take care of!! :D

I old coworker is in the area for a meeting and we had her over to our house for dinner yesterday. Her flight got delayed on Sunday so she wasn't able to come over as planned so we just moved it to Monday night. It was so nice seeing her and catching up. We will meet her for dinner tonight since she is leaving tomorrow. The joy of having some time off during the summer. Otherwise, I would never feel like entertaining during the week.

I decided to cancel my blender order. The cost dropped $20 and it had not shipped it. Amazon does not price match. I may re-order it. Then again, I am hoping to get a good price locally with a coupon so if I don't like it---it will make an easy return vs. paying for shipping to return. I just know that the small cheaper end blenders have not done the trick. I know I don't plan to spend vita mix kind of money, but I do wish I could find a good one for $100.

Good morning everyone. I had grand plans for last night's workouts and instead fell asleep by accident. I did get Rushfit and cracked it open but I didn't watch any of the discs yet. I want to try the fighting one first which I hear is the toughest one but the most fun. After the 5K on Sunday, I am going to cut the dog jogs down to less miles. I miss doing my other workouts. Baseball ends this week which will free up some time as well. This summer has been absolutely crazy...Monday is one hour of karate. Tuesday is Kumon class plus one hour of baseball. Wednesday is 45 minutes of karate. Thursday is Kumon class, one hour of baseball, AND 45 minutes of karate. Friday is swimming lessons + 45 minutes of karate. It's no wonder I can't seem to get anything done.

Natty
What's the sad face about the pushups? I think you did a great job! As for pull-ups, I can still only do a few in the supine position...no clue how you ladies are able to do full blown ones. I am completely jealous.

HeartyMax
How fun that you were able to catch up with an old coworker! I love when that happens. I am also glad that you are enjoying some time off especially since school is probably going to start again soon. By the way, did your cousin win that vacation after all?

Toni
My ex used to do a lot of the cleaning too which is why my place now always looks like a tornado hit it. He was crazy though...he would get into this moods and start throwing things away. One time I caught him throwing away brand new boxes of toothpaste and aspirin. He has thrown away unused gift cards and even Nuggets tickets. It used to drive me absolutely insane. To this day, I am still discovering more things that I used to have that are now gone and it's been over 2 years since we were together.

Jennifer
Way to go on the pushups! It's amazing how well you are doing after having a bad accident just a few months ago.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning!
No workout for me this morning, I felt I needed a rest day.
Tomorrow I'll be ready to dive into the pushups and cardio.

My legs are about better from Saturday's ordeal and because of TriSets yesterday my biceps are sore and my upper back is a little sore (yay!).

The pushups work the triceps and chest and a bit of the shoulders so the back/biceps workout was a good fit.

Heartymax, I'm counting on being able to complete my assignment for day 2 - however if by some chance I cannot and need to drop to my knees should I complete day 2 again instead of doing day 3? I think I should only move on when I complete the number of reps assigned. What do you think?

I do not believe you are cheating by skipping pushups in regular workouts since you are doing them for the challenge! LOL!

$20 difference is huge - I don't blame you for canceling your Margaritaville order. I hope you find what you're looking for soon.
I'm glad you got a chance to visit with an old coworker, too:)

Toni,As for workout combos Natty is the Queen! She gets the credit for my thinking-out-of-the-box workouts:D

Sorry your back is still bothering you and I hope it gets better soon. As you said, at least it is forcing you to work on your form so that's great. Also, you can keep moving so that's cool:)

How is your mom and step daughter?

Natty, your push-up counts are awesome! 30 seconds rest after doing 17 and still being able to bang out another set of 10 and 10. How does your chest feel today?!

How do you feel after your Leslie/vest workout?

Man, that is just awful about the gang situation. So sad:(

Stacie, Glad you were still able to go on with your dog jog last week in spite of having a bug. Sometimes workouts can help! Is your son all better yet?

Really sorry to hear about your mom's truck; you're right - it would have been worse getting stranded so at least it waited to break down until you got back! Geesh!

As for RushFit, we are all anxious to hear about it! Since you are supposed to keep running maybe *try* to keep the intensity down when you try it and be sure to eat extra carbs and protein:D

I checked out RushFit - it looks really good. I didn't see where it says anything about high/low impact.

I have heard about the boyfriends being heros for pushing their girlfriends out of the way - it is just so sad for everyone:(

I have to get to work; have a great day everyone!

Stacie-- yes she did win! I am sorry I was thoughtful enough to post it. She was really excited. You have trained well for your 5k so I am sure you are looking forward to it.

Jennifer- day 2 allows for a 90 second rest so you will be able to bang those out--don't worry.

There were a lot of heroes in the shootings. There was even a case where a man took a bullet for this woman's children by shielding them after her boyfriend (who is the father of one of the children) ran away and left them all behind. He later proposed and they are now engaged...the internet is a muck with people saying she is crazy. I would have to agree. On the flip side though it is easy to judge when you haven't been in the same situation.

Natty
I forgot to answer your question about the dog jogs and weight lifting. I have notice a huge difference in my thighs. I run around my apartment complex which is pretty hilly -- I think that is what is causing the change. I haven't seen much change in the scale but my legs definitely feel more toned. One this I can say about STS is that it firms up my back pretty nicely. I can feel the muscles through my lower back. I honestly don't think I would train for a 5k while doing STS again unless I had a lot of down time to relax. Some nights (like Friday) I run AND do STS. It's crazy -- I started late and was up until 3am in order to get them both done.

Hello all...today was an attempt at Low Max. I did about 40 minutes of it and then stopped. My mother thoroughly irritated me last evening and I was still irritated this morning...LOL!! I need to do better. The good news is that she's out of the hospital and seems to be breathing okay. The bad news is that she's on another type of medication that she wasn't recieving while in the hospital and it's thrown her whole world off a bit. She should be regulated again by the end of the week hopefully. I think that will make things better. My mother has a tendency to be a bit controlling, but she usually doesn't try that too much with me. She knows I'm her child and just really doesn't work with me...LOL!! But with this medication problem she's pushing me on things she wouldn't normally try. I've just been trying to nod my head and say ok, but it's a bit difficult. But this shouldn't last long and she should be back to normal soon. And again, good news is she's breathing well and she's using an electronic cigarett to help stop smoking. She's funny she told me she's just been carrying it and waving it around :)

My step daugther is doing fine it seems. She has her first pre-natal appt tomorrow. Her father is in town, so he will go with us. Going to be interested to see how it goes with him, me, and his ex-wife all there. I personally don't have a problem with anyone that is there, but his ex is a bit territorial at times. Told them I'm happy to wait in the lobby, but I carry the health insurance and I need to at least be at the first one so I understand how this doctors office works with billing and such(I handle paper work in our household). Plus all appts will be made to my work schedule since I will be taking her when her father is not in town(DH travels for a living and we don't know when he will and won't be in town). DH has made the general service announcement that this is how it is going to be and so far no one seemed to have a problem with it, so hoping everyone just remembers we are there to get my step-daughter the medical care she needs and no drama(I hate drama!!).

HeartyMax - the cleaning is a double edged sword...LOL!! He cleans but then he fusses about having to clean. I try to explain to him that we have FOUR kids, a dog, and a cat. This means that you don't just clean once and it stays that way forever. You do have to repeat it over and over again...LOL!! But he fusses anyway....and I listen :)

I hope you find a blender in your price range!!

Stacie - that is funny about your ex. I am the one that will throw stuff away in the house. I know I don't like to clean, so I try not to keep a bunch of stuff that I will just have to clean. But throwing away toothpaste..OMG. That stuff is expensive!! My DH moves my shoes all the time. I get so irritated. He says that they don't belong where ever I put them...my response is always that I left them there cause I'm gonna wear them again...LOL!!

Natty - good job on pushups!!

Good morning ladies :)

So far I'm enjoying the freedom from STS (did I just admit that?). Yesterday's w/o was STS TB UB premix (30min) + add-on compound back (5min) + add-on compound chest/shoulder's/tri's (5min). If you guys have never done those add-on premixes, they are a nice little addition to the workout, really fatiguing the muscles. I'm bloody sore today :D

Heartymax
Sorry about the blender situation :(
I'm glad you are enjoying your time off this summer. Time with family/friends is very precious.

Jennifer
I'm glad I could inspire you to mix/match your workouts :).
I love it when my upper-back is DOMS'ing :D. Oh heck, you know I love all kinds of DOMS
I felt ok after Leslie's workout. Even with the vest, I considered it to be a beginner workout, even though it "claims" to be inter/adv. Cathe just conditioned the heck out of me I guess. It's nice to have those light days though.

Stacie
You've inspired me to jog...someday :D. Thighs/booty are my trouble zones. I heard running was great for the thighs too. I'm so happy you've seen those kinds of results.
As far as the pull-ups, I'm not a super-star with them. I can only do 2 real ones (on a good day). The rest I do like you or bent knee if I'm tired. I love the way it makes my back/arms feel. My goal (eventually) would be to just knock out at least 5 like Cathe.

Toni
I hope your prenatal appointment goes smoothly with no drama. You have been so great throughout all of this. Like I said, your step-daughter is very lucky to have support from you.
When you talk about your mom, I get flashbacks of the relationship I have with mine.

Have a great day ladies :)

Good morning!

This morning I did my 5 sets of pushups and then I did Crossfire. I struggled with it cardiovascular-wise and I had to pause and catch my breath for a good 2 minutes after one of the parts (can't remember which one) before I could resume the workout.

After the cool-down and my heart rate came down I foam-rolled my back (especially upper) and my legs (front/back) starting at my glutes. Then I stretched a bit.

The Sports Conditioning guy said that foam rollers can speed recovery time by 2-3 hours; apparently rolling is more important to do than I realized (though it makes sense) so I will continue to do that after my workouts. By the way, he said a Tennis Ball will work, also - it doesn't have to be a foam roller.

It would be awesome to be able to do pullups (or one) and they go well with the pushups. The Turbo Tower is too short for me to be able to hang from unless I cross my legs; I guess I could try that and just hang and hold for a while and work up to it.

Natty, Thanks for the tip about the add-ons! I will look into them. By the way, I didn't see the Leg circuit on 4DS so I went with Crossfire.

I agree - lighter workout days are necessary. As Cathe said once, "they can't all be that hard." I'm glad you enjoyed a light day and that you are Free from STS!

Stacie, You are incredibly busy with your son! Geesh! I know that's good for him, but I think about you running around - it's amazing to me that you can do any working out at all. I guess the workouts keep you going strong and energized, though.

You're right about not judging someone until you've walked in their shoes. It's hard to do that sometimes especially in this situation when a complete stranger jumped in to save her and her kids. But maybe the boyfriend/fiancee has other strong points that make him worth keeping, she obviously thinks so and that's all that matters. Maybe he has grown from this awful experience.

Toni, ditto Natty; I hope all goes well at the doctor's office. Also, I am sympathetic to the situation with your mother. You are trying so hard to be patient and understanding, and you're doing an amazing job especially with everything you have on your plate now. Hang in there! Keep taking time for your workouts even if you just don't have the strength to finish them.

Heartymax, I saw the Margaritaville contraption - wow, it sure looks very capable of what you want to do with it! It looks fun.

I was not able to hit my target on the 5th set - I was supposed to do at least 12 but I had to drop to my knees for #7 and I went until fatigue on my knees so at least I did that (24 I think). That means I only did 44 on my toes today instead of my 45 on Monday but I am not going to give up. Instead of moving on to day 3 I will re-do day 2 on Friday. It's all good:)

That's all for now; have an awesome day!:D

Hello, there was not workout today. However, I'm thinking of trying to get a bike ride in after my son's football practice and daughters cheerleading booster meeting. Once the football season starts its like my life is over!! Taxi cab service all the way after that :)

The prenatal visit went well. My step daughters mother wasn't able to make it which was disappointing(she was called into work). Every girl needs their mother at certain times and I know my step daughter wanted her there. Her mother was able to call her during the visit though. So that was good. The baby is very healthy and 24 weeks along. Due date is early Nov. Everyone is excited, but I feel sad for my daughter. I can see in her face that she loves the baby, but the reality of it is just that much closer and I can see the stress on her. It has to be really hard to pretend your happy when you feel overwhelmed. I'm going to try to find some teen pregnancy message board sites for her. Reading or posting may be helpful.

I'll post personals tomorrow...I have to run to cheerleading practice now. Jasmine is working on her back handspring. She's almost got it, but we need a couple private lessons to get it down before competition season.

Good evening everyone. Tonight I did a 2 mile dog jog. It didn't go so well...the dog was pulling me and trying to get every dog he saw. I actually just walked the last 0.5 mile.

I had the strangest thing happen today. As many as you know (except for maybe Toni) a big part of the sleep problems that led me to start working out again were due to my ex-boyfriend joining the Marine Corp and leaving. It's been almost a year since I have heard from him. I have tried to contact him several times and never got a single response back. Well, a couple months ago I joined an online dating site. Today I saw that he was on there. I had no intention of contacting him since it obvious he doesn't want to talk to me. But get this, he starts emailing me but doesn't even recognize me from my pictures. I know I have lost weight and some of my facial features have thinned out but it was still crazy. Plus, he lied about a lot of stuff in his life during today's chats -- or maybe he was telling the truth but lied when we were together. I honestly feel like my head is spinning. His behavior was very reminiscent of how my ex-husband used to act. Maybe it's because they are both PTSD sufferers -- I can't really say. He definitely isn't anywhere near the man I thought he was which made me feel sad and foolish.

Toni
I am sorry to hear about your situation with your mother...it makes it extra hard to put your foot down when they were so sick that they were hospitalized. I hope that she adjusts to the medication soon so that it's better for all of you.

That's great news that your daughters check up went well. Babies are a wonderful blessing even when the timing isn't always the best. I was sad to hear that your daughter is already starting to feel the burden of being a teen mom. Maybe it started to sink in now that school is going to start soon. It will definitely change a lot of things.

Jennifer
Thanks for the great tip about the foam roller. Maybe the rolling motion is why that stretching DVD I have works so well with back pain. The entire thing uses a stability ball. Anyway...it might be something to invest in soon!

Natty
It sounds like you mixed up a great workout! I have been slacking big time on the weights. STS is definitely a commitment -- I should have done a couple months of Pure Strength instead since the summer is so busy. Do you think you will ever try a STS rotation in the future?

HeartyMax
That blender looks pretty amazing! Almost like a hand mixer except it's a blender! FYI...when I googled it to check it out I saw they have a cheaper version on QVC. I was eyeballing the Ninja blender/food processor yesterday at Sam's club. I need something to make those Lara bars with!

Have a great night and day tomorrow everyone!

Good morning ladies :)

Yesterday's w/o was a M2, W1 leg disc (13? 14? 15?). Those tri-sets really get ya good . It's funny, I actually feel as though I've been getting a better/more challenging weight training workout not following the 1RM. I think sometimes I felt held captive by this magical number, as though I had to perform with it, and got down on myself when I couldn't. Perhaps it's just the freedom from the numbers and worksheets. My mind definitely needed a break from all of that :D.

Stacie
Oh man, what can I possible say in response? I hate to judge people and call them douchebags . I'm sorry you feel sad and foolish, but I don't think you should feel that way or put pressure on yourself. Look at the all the wonderful things you are accomplishing like being a kick-a** single parent, and still finding the time to balance work/home while making health/fitness a priority. I think you are doing great, but I understand your want/need to find someone special. Positive vibes and thoughts from me to you :).

Jennifer
I have a question, what is so special about foam rollers? Do you think it would help my back?
Crossfire Tabata firewalkers just slay me .

Toni
I'm glad to hear the prenatal appoint went well and that the baby is healthy and growing well.

Have a great day ladies :)

Hi Ladies. No workout for me yesterday. I had to go for my eye exam early yesterday morning and I had to do some lab work in which I had to fast. Therefore, I wasn't going to workout and not be able to eat afterwards. I have my physical on Monday and they like to do the lab work in advance so everything will be back and the doctor can discuss during the physical. My exam went well and no changes to my prescription. I just find that I need to wear my glasses more often than I used too.

This morning was week 2 day 1 of pushups. My reps were 14, 14, 10, 10 and 17 ( supposed to be at least 15 for the last set) with a 60 second rest. I was wiped out on the last set. I subbed STS legs Disc 6 in place of Turbo Barre for my leg workout. I just wanted to use weights and I must admit----I wanted to do some sliding back lunges (did I say that???) :D

I have a friend and her 2 boys (who are same age as my boys) coming over at noon to hang out. We like to get together at least once during the summer. Last summer was at their house so this summer is ours. I am prepping so the kids can have hotdogs, chips, drinks for lunch and I am making salad for my friend and I so we can eat healthy.

Natty
----I understsand what you mean by not getting so caught up in the 1RM. Some days/weeks we are just stronger than others and I don't like to get discouraged if I can't lift the amount of weight that should be for the week.

Toni
--glad the dr. visit went well. I am glad you were able to be there for the appointment.

Stacie---OMG---you are truly a superwoman. I am amazed that you are able to find time to workout with the busy schedule you keep with your children. You are truly an example of someone making time for her self and being committed to fitness, health AND her family.

Jennifer---you are doing well with the push ups. Remember---take a few extra seconds break if you need too. Re-doing day 2 is a good idea if that works for you. Do you do your push ups first or at the end. I do mine first because there is no way I would have the energy to do 3 push ups after a workout.

I decided to get a Kitchen Aid blender. It was on sale for $100 and I am hoping it does the trick the smoothies and frozen drinks for the kids. My son used it yesterday and said it works better than the old one. It also fits well on the counter where they say the magaritaville is pretty large.

Almost time for my company so I gotta run.

I hope you all are having a good morning so far.

For the first time that I can remember my workout totally sucked:mad:

I usually don't eat before my workout since I'm a morning exerciser. I have coffee with cream and sometimes a small glass of OJ or some gatorade; then I brush my teeth, put on my workout attire, and my workouts are always energizing and fantastic.

However this morning I had a Luna bar (Lemon Zest) and it sat in my belly like a ton of bricks even after 45 minutes. I couldn't even get going in the warm up!

I attempted the 4DS Lower body circuit and couldn't even jump. Then, to make things even better (sarcasam), I tweaked my back during some deadlifts.

I took it easy for the rest of the workout and didn't bother with the abs.

I will never eat before working out again, and I will not let this morning's workout ruin my day:)

So that's my sob story.

FYI - I refuel after the workout with a protein smoothie:
1 cup of OJ or Gatorade, 1 over-filled cup of lowfat plain yogurt,
1 scoop vanilla protein powder, 1 tblspn ground flax seed,
and 1-1/2 cups frozen fruit).

Toni, glad your step-daughter's mom was at least able to call. I bet she appreciated that you were there for her.
Handsprings are cool - glad Jasmine's getting lessons.

Have a good day everyone.

Hello all. Today was Low Max. I did six of the seven cycles before I ran out of time and had to get ready for work.

Chelsea(my step daughter) picked out a color for her room and a pattern for the crib bedding. Holy cow when did a simple crib bumper start costing $65? That will it be happening. But I've just read they are recommending against padded bumpers these days. I'll have to ask Chelsea what she wants to do before anything gets purchased.

I absolutely cannot wait for this week to be over. I've had three parent meetings for football/cheerleading, two hair salon appts for my daughters, dentists and doc appt. I'm hoping to be able to paint a room this weekend and both my kids want to have a friend over for a sleepover. I'm not sure that room will be painted this weekend.

Stacie - I'm really sorry are your experience with the ex-boyfriend. I certainly don't consider you foolish. He behaviors are not a reflection on you, they are a reflection on him. Just because he's good at lying doesn't make you foolish.

BTW - I met my husband on a online dating site. There are some good ones out there on those sites.

Natty - I liked your comment about doing STS without the 1RM stuff. That makes total since. I'm still debating on when I will start. I may possibly start next week, but I'll have to see how the weekend goes. It's going to be very busy here.

Jennifer - our bodies do not like when we change up our routines..ha! Hope your next workout is better.
