Possible CTX rotation for February.

Hi Wendy,

I hope it does work and you're able to do your workouts. I know the feeling of wanting to work out and not being able to...

Have a wonderful evening.:D

Hi Karen,

Well I did the pillow thing and the stretch thing last night and then I attempted to begin my ctx rotation-10*10*10* was on the schedule. I took it extraordinarily easy and was able to finish it. I had some pains but nothing even close to what I had been experiencing. I was easily able to work through it. I stretched again after the work out and knock on wood...have been good since. No pains! Maybe I'm cured!!! :) Thanks for the advice and hopefully I'll be back to normal for tonights "torture session"! lol

By the way--I GOT BODY BLAST LAST NIGHT!!!! YIPPEEEEE! :7

What work out did you do last night?

Have a great work out!

Hi Wendy,:)

I'm so glad to hear that you are back on track. I know that the pillow thing usually works for me. A chiro once explained to me why it does, but I'm not sure that I could repeat it -- it just very gently encourages the back to go back into place. And stretching...sometimes it's hard to do all those poses, but I love it.

Wow! You got the Body Blast! Isn't it fun getting these new workouts. I just love it so much.

I had a little win yesterday. I went to the chiro for my neck which went out when I was sleeping -- and when he asked me to take a deep breath, he said that he could really tell I was an athelete. Wow! Maybe all my hard work is paying off. I've never been very atheletic and so for me, this was really a compliment.

Anyway, hope your workouts go well today -- oh, I did IMAX (the original) yesterday. Love that one -- though I do like IMAX2 better. Today I plan on Power Hour -- only cause I'm reluctant to do it -- so I'm going to do it rather than ME -- I love ME so much that I reach for it again and again and again.;)

Have a terrific day, Wendy.

Hi Karen,

An athelete, huh? WOW! That's very cool! :)

Getting a new work out is like Christmas for me! I always get so excited! Even prior to Cathe, to be honest! It just motivates me all over again to get movin'! I think that's why I have such a hard time holding off on my purchases...coz I just love that feeling it gives me when I am so excited to try a new routine!

I am not familiar with any of Cathe's Imax' yet. I don't own any of them...but I will, one day-don't you worry!;) I truly am going to ask for the Intensity Series for my B'day since I couldn't hold out for Body Blast!

I am looking forward to stretch max. I had a stretch tape that I really liked but it was a vhs tape and it broke on me. I would replace it with the same but I don't want to buy anymore vhs and it doesn't appear to be offered in dvd. The one I use now isn't bad but I want something better and I'm sure stretch max will fit the bill. With 3 different routines, how can one go wrong? You even get variety! My SIL bought me a yoga video and I started previewing it but it starts with all kind of breathing exercises and I can't be bothered with that so I never finished watching it! lol One day I'll have to fast forward past the breathing and try the actual poses. Ofcourse, it's not for pregnancy and I am not familiar with yoga so I don't know if I could even do it right now! I have Windsor pilates and like to do that (it's a great stretch as well!) but I had to quit on that early on coz it was very difficult and uncomfortable to do many of the exercises even in my first trimester.

Ok, I'm getting rather long winded here!lol

Have a great work out!

Hi Wendy,

You know, after you have the baby might be a better time to do the IMAX tapes anyway. They are quite intense, but I'm really wanting intensity because it's intensity that stimulates the growth hormone, which keeps us looking and feeling young and energetic. But you will love them. Simply love them.

The Intensity series is the best series of tapes I've ever done -- I got them in VHS instead of DVD -- although I got the Pyramids in DVD. I really love that series, but I think with you, it probably should wait until after the baby is born.:) I could be wrong, just my feel on things, though.

I'm with you all the way on the stretch DVD. Did I tell you that I ordered it -- just made it on the pre-ordering. I pre-ordered Stretch Max, IMAX3, Low Max and Muscle Max. But I, too, really want the stretch DVD. I think stretching is very important, and I, too, am a little tired of my stretch tape -- I ordered another one -- a Karen Voight stretch tape, but the one I've been doing -- by Janis Saffel, is good, but I've done it so often, that I now need variety -- and so I can't wait for Cathe's either. Plus, I just like the way Cathe stretches. Easy does it -- down to earth -- we're doing this together now. You can really tell that she cares about others -- can't you? I am such a fan.

Anyway, thought I'd tell you that I'm going to be going downtown tomorrow morning with my daughter, who has jury duty, and doesn't want to go alone. Because I'm a writer, I can pretty much work anywhere, so I told her I'd go with her.

But I'll check again tomorrow evening when I should be home again.

Have a terrific workout tomorrow and a great day.:)

Hi Karen,

So how was the day in court? That was very nice of you to go with your daughter. You sound like a great mom! :)

So last night I did CTX kickbox and that stinkin' pain came back...only for short term though...I seem to be fine today. I guess it's safe to say that kickboxing is the culprit and my injury has got to be similar to what yours was. I think I need to lay off the kickboxing work outs for a while....I will just have to put an alternate cardio in my rotation for the month. Stinks though coz kickbox is my fave cardio in the ctx series!;( Oh well, not worth really hurting myself over!

Have a great work out!

Hi Wendy,

Wow, a day at court. Oh, my gosh. What can I say? You hurry up to wait, if you know what I mean. Luckily, I took a lot of work with me.

I'm gald I went with my daughter, as she was very nervous, and just the support, I'm hoping, helped.

I'm afraid that the side kicks in the kickbox videos are what does it to me. I have noticed, however, that Janis Saffell gives a variation in her Total Cardio Kicks DVD that allows me to do kickbox tapes without injury. In this video, the variation she gives entails lifting the leg, as though one were going to kick, but never extending it outward. So I get the cardio result without kicking out the hip.

My thoughts on it is that I might suffer form problems with the kicks and so until I learn that more precisely, this variation works for me. It might be worth a try if you really love those workouts. You just never really kick. Bring the knee up as though you were going to, bend over, but don't kick.

It's possible that with the extra weight of the baby, these might work for you.

Anyway, so nice to see you again. Have a terrific day.:D

Hi Wendy,

Just popping on to say "hi" -- am wondering how you're doing -- how's the pregnancy going? And workouts?

Have a terrific weekend.:7

Hi Karen,

Thanks for the suggestion on the side kicks. If I decide to do kick box again in the near future I will try that for certain!

So HC is shipping! I can't wait to receive stretch max...I am sooo achey every morning when I get up (pregnancy woes;-)) I should seriously consider alotting some extra time for a good stretch in the mornings once the dvd comes. I am not a morning exerciser but I should be able to manage some stretching while I'm still half asleep!
:) lol

Last night I started my baby registry. Have to go back and finish this weekend. It's so much fun to register...it's like shopping with out spending any money! Hee Hee! :p

Hope all is well with you!

Have a great work out!

Hi Wendy,

Isn't it exciting that the new DVD's are being shipped? I, too, am excited about Stretch Max -- I only ordered four of the new ones -- but I'm the most excited about Stretch Max. Like you, I really think I need more stretching. Sometimes my muscles are sore -- but also, I think the stretching helps to keep one's back in alignment -- at least a little.

What an accomplishment -- to quit smoking. I, too, stopped smoking, but quite a while ago -- probably 24 years ago or something like that. Thing is, when I was pregnant, it wasn't a taboo to smoke and so I smoked all through my pregnancy -- actually through both of them. But my kids turned out fine, and neither one of them smoke.:)

I, too, had some rather nauseating mornings -- and during my last pregnancy, I was working as a waitress, and remember how horrible the smell of the food was to me. I think you're right in your idea to stretch. We'll have to compare notes.

Anyway, have a terrific weekend.:7

Hi Karen,

I am so happy that I quit smoking NOW but when the topic first came up between DH and I b/c we were discussing when we should start trying to have kids, I was very defensive about it and soooo not keen on the idea...mostly because I didn't think I could do it.

I believed strongly in smokers rights (actually I still do!) and was prepared to smoke through my pregnancy if I couldn't quit in time. My thinking (which I still feel is a valid point) was that my mom and her mom, etc all smoked during pregnancy and all of the babies were fine so what gives? Why did I have to quit!?!? My DH was totally against this and obviously, eventually he won that battle! lol But at first, I put off having kids coz I really didn't want to and didn't think I COULD quit smoking.

After a little bit of time passed, I guess that maternal instinct kicked in and I really wanted to have a baby so I decided to try to quit...I was still quite skeptical though...well, needless to say, I was successful and looking back, I don't know how I expected to smoke away my pregnancy and not feel terribly guilty for it!?

Even now that I have quit, though, I do not tell people to quit and I do not complain about smoke/smoking. I respect smokers and their rights and probably always will. I still eat in smoking sections at restaurants and still go out on "smoke breaks" with the ladies who smoke at work-I only go out for the gossip now! lol

Hmmm-I don't know why I just went on about this...I guess it's something I feel strongly about! lol Sorry for babbling!

So I did step and intervals last night-really fun work out-and I have to do power circuit tonight. What about you?

Have a great work out!

Hi Wendy!

Happy start of the week! I read your post with great interest. Like you, I believe in smoker's rights, as well. Gee, let's see -- as a country, we pump billions of dollars worth of hard addicting drugs into the country annually that addicts both adults and kids -- we use uranium waste in our weapons overseas -- and the current campaign is against cigarettes. Hmmmm...

I'm not saying cigarettes are great, nor perhaps a health hazard, particularly with all the chemicals poured into the tobacco and paper used for them nowadays. The interesting thing is that originally (before the invasion of their country) the Indians (American Indians) used smoking as a cure for some lung diseases. Of course there were no extra chemicals in the tobacco, and they didn't use the paper that also is filled with chemicals today, and their tobacco was sacred (still is) and grown with much care and ceremony -- probably not quite the same sort of tobacco that we use today. But that's an interesting historical fact, isn't it?

Anyway, I'm doing the TimeSaver DVD workout as a rotation this week, as I have a couple of chats and an interview this week that will be taking up my time.

Have a wonderful day.:7

Hi Karen.

So I did CTX Power Circuit tonight after yet ANOTHER day of no exercise yesterday!!!:( That makes 3 days of no exercise since Sunday! AAAAAHHHHH! I really can't complain though...until this week, which was just a bad one and everyone has them, I had been doing very well getting in my workouts 6 out of 7 days! Power Circuit is a toughie even at TOTAL low impact. I had done it once before but I forgot about all of the leg work it has in it and I have a Legs and Glutes premix on the schedule for tomorrow!
YIKES! }( As long as I'm not really sore tomorrow, I will do L&G.

How was your timesaver work out today? I know you are enjoying that dvd. Having the "compact" work out option is great if you don't have an hour (or more) to devote on any given day. CTX is nice for that as well. You don't have to spend all of that time yet you still feel like you got a complete work out in.

Had my monthly visit to the ob today. All is fine with me and baby. Have to go back in a week for the glucose test. Sounds like this one could be high on the YUCK factor! You have to drink something...hang out and then they take blood? Well the drink is probably nasty, no? And having blood taken skeeves me!:-( Oh well, I shall survive it! lol

Well, it's almost time for bed...Take Care, Karen!

Have a great night...or day-depending on when you read this!:+

Have a great work out!

Hi Wendy,

I know what you mean. I don't look forward to getting blood taken, either. I'm so glad ot hear that you're doing well.

Oh, I thought I'd pass this along, for whatever it's worth. I read something this morning about bananas and how eating one can help with nausea during pregancy. It's a thought.

I am enjoying the TimeSaver DVD, but in truth, my body keeps yearning for a little more intensity -- I'm so used to it. But my schedule this week is a little intense, itself, and once you do the TimeSaver DVD, you kinda need to continue it, as the weight work is spread through 4 different workouts.

We'll see -- I might give in and try to get a little more time and do a full workout.;-)

Have a terrific day, Wendy.:7

Hi Karen,

Well you can always do the Timesaver and add a portion of another work out to it to make it more intense.

I thought I might feel "guilty" while doing this CTX rotation that I wouldn't be getting a good enough work out....CTX may be shorter but it's certainly not lacking in intensity!:) I do, however, like to add cardio to my Leaner Legs days where Cathe has it as it's own work out for a day.

One of the reasons why I love Cathe is that her work outs are all so versatile! The combos of routines are simply endless!!! And with the chaptered dvd's it is so easy to skip around and do only the exact portion of any dvd that you want!

Have fun!

Have a great work out!

Hi Wendy,

I'm so glad you're having fun with CTX -- it's a similar idea as TimeSaver, I think -- and so I'm sure you're having a blast with it.

That's a terrific idea, by the way, to add some cardio to it -- I won't tomorrow -- as that's my toughest day -- but maybe the day after -- so that I get a more intense workout in.

Anyway, have a terrific workout tomorrow. I'm off to bed -- like I said, a rather busy day tomorrow for me.:D

Hi Karen,

Tried Legs and Glutes last night for the 1st time...one of the premixes. That was tough but I loved it! I was intermittently making these faces through out the work out... :) x( ;( :) lol!!! I followed that up with biceps and abs from ctx kickbox. I was nicely "fried" by the time I was done!

Tonight is 10*10*10 straight up.

Hope your day wasn't overwhelmingly busy today. Hope your work out goes or went well today also.

BTW-was your daughter picked to be on a jury?? I never asked you that! My mom was picked once and actually enjoyed it. She found it quite interesting. I have yet to even have to set foot in the court room. I have been sent notices but have been able to get out of every one so far...I know that won't last though...it's only a matter of time!:)

Have a great work out!

Hi Wendy,

On the jury thing, by the time they got around to interviewing my daughter, they had the jurers picked. She was very happy to get out of it, actually. She was very worried about it.

So it all came off okay.

You're making me want the CTX series. I'm finding the TimeSaver DVD very good for saving time, but I'm really missing the intensity of the workouts and usually when the cardio is over, I'm going -- that's all?

So it will be good to get back to the intensity workouts. Tomorrow is another busy day, but not as busy as this one was. Mostly because I had a radio interview, and although it's always "off the cuff," I always study up for it, and practice ahead of time. And tomorrow's another busy day -- but not quite so busy.

I'm hoping to get back on track intensively next week. You know, it's probably not a bad idea to have a week that's not quite so intense -- it's certainly different.;)

I love those faces you make -- gee, that looks like me during the intensity series...

Don't you just love it?:7

Hi Karen,

I must admit...I'm not so sure I love the pain DURING the work out LOL...but once the work out is over I feel AWESOME so I know that it was worth it!:)

I received the Intensity Series today!!!! I did not order the Terminator though. I am sooo excited but I know alot of it will have to be modified or just not done at all until post-delivery...that's ok though. I'm just so happy to have it in my grimy lil paws right now. lol

It's getting hard to stick with my CTX rotation. I really want to test out as much of the BB and I series' as I can before it's just ALL too much for me. I need to learn discipline with rotations, though. I gotta finish this one or I'll never learn to stick to one!

Have a great work out!

Hi Wendy!

Sorry it's been so long since I posted. I got really busy toward teh end of the week, and the weekend has been devoted to getting things done around the house, so I can put my attention on work...

Anyway, I'm so glad that you got the Intensity Series.:p Have you done any of it yet? Or do you think you'll wait until after the baby is born? You will love it, I just know you will.;-)

It is by far my most favorite series -- I'm also looking forward to Hardcore. Do you have those you ordered yet? Mine is supposed to come to me by the 16th. I can't wait. I've been reading all the posts -- and they sound incredible.:D

Hope your workouts are going well. How's the rotation going?

Anyway, have a wonderful Monday. I'll probably be posting in the evenings next week. It'll be a busy one for me again, I'm afraid, but hopefully not as busy as last week. I'm back onto my regular sort of schedule this week.

Have a great one.:7
