New Runners June 2010

The head is ok. I did the Upper Body Split from CTX yesterday and today is a mish mash of all the KB/Hi Lo from CTX. I'm sort of set up for that now. I already did trash can to the street max:p

Last night I went to an audio club mtg and met the coolest guy from Nashville who sells mixing consoles (great big thingy with lots of faders) that are analog and refurbished. It would only set me back 40,000. :eek: I think I will put that on my wish list. So, cool thing is his shop is next door to Martina McBride's husbands studio. How neat is that? So, a la six degrees of Kevin Beacon, I am now 2 people away from anybody. Neato!
 
Hi Everyone!

We only got 15 minutes into the rolling dice workout before it started thundering and lightening so we had to bring it indoors. We finally got rain which we needed but I missed being outside. Tonight I'm going to the track unless it rains. I'll keep you posted.

Lisa ~ You poor thing! I would have been a total wreck. I'm so glad that Nellie made it home and that you did not get hurt with your run in with the deer. I've seen and heard stories of people getting really hurt and cars being totaled after hitting deers. I drive a long stretch of road that is surrounded by wildlife. I'm always on the lookout for deers.

Alisha - ASAP I'll send over one of those mixing boards for you! When's your birthday again? LOL! Really, I would if I could! I love doing things for my friends! DH has a small one. We hope to start working up some jazz tunes and recording at some point. Just for fun, mind you! :eek: I'm glad your head is feeling better!

Jane - Sorry you got rained out! We were supposed to be nice and sunny today and ended up being completely cloudy and super windy all day. Supposedly, tomorrow will be nice, but up towards 90! Not looking forward to that! I have to laugh! B&G made my whole lower body majorly DOMS on Tues. Now, not only do my biceps hurt like crazy, but my chest actually hurts! I usually don't feel it in my middle chest, only in my outer chest, but man! Under my boobs hurts like mad today! :eek: LOL! TMI??? Oh well, I told DH that made me happy because maybe I'm on the road to a boob lift without the surgery! :D Ha, ha, ha!

Yes, I love PUB! Tomorrow is PLB. Still not recovered from B&G yet, so that ought to be really fun!

I found (or was found by!) Jane, Tricia and Cindi on facebook today. Alisha, where are you?!? If you don't FB, now you have to :D

I was going to run to the campground today (about 3 miles round trip). Well, I did run to the campground but I walked all the way back home. It was just too hot. Other than that, I brushed the crap out of Nellie's coat and took the dogs swimming in the sound but no workout. I'll get back on track tomorrow or the next day, I promise :).

My nerves are finally settling down a little bit. Thanks for all the support. I was terrified when Nellie was missing. She's very sensible when she isn't scared but you never know what will happen when an animal panics or what she could run in to before she finds her way home. The deer was just icing on the cake.

Tricia - Good luck on PLB! Another of my favorites. I really think I still like it better than B&G and Gym Styles even though I'm very fond of them.

Hi Ladies!

I did get my track workout in yesterday but it was HOT. The humidity was low though. I drank TONS of water yesterday and it really helped my energy level. I did bleachers runs, laps and broad jumps for about 40 minutes!

Today is a rest day. I have a 5K race tomorrow...it's another "melon" run. I've done this one twice and it's usually very, very HOT!! Luckily there is usually a kid standing in the middle of the race with a hose and you just yell at him to hose you down. There is also 2 killer hills at the end. The last one takes you to the finish line. Last year that hill defeated me and I did one of my worst times ever. Not this year. I'm going to CONQUER that hill!!!

Tricia ~ I love PLB. Those steps up in the beginning are killer. I love Gym Style Legs too but it so long...oh and those slow lunges...Yikes!!!

Hi everyone! Pete and I went for a walk together last night so that was my workout. I'm not sure what I'm doing today. I think I'm going to wait for the mailman because I may be getting Bob Harper's new workouts. If not, then I will do something else - maybe a random drawing - I just don't know yet.

Busy weekend coming up for us - Honor has a cello recital tomorrow. Paul leaves for a week at Boy Scout Camp on Sunday. I'm going to miss him. He's my youngest and more of a homebody than than Honor and David. I'm trying to talk him up so he won't be homesick. Weather will be hot and rainy so I will be going to the gym or exercising inside.

I'll be back on Monday!

Good morning ladies!
I've already been out and had a great ride on the beach with a girlfriend. I rode her new(ish) horse. He was really great. I'm going to get to ride him this summer while she's out of town a lot. I'm going to head out for a beach day with another girlfriend, as soon as she gets up and out of bed. No workout for me today so posting and playing in the waves will have to count.

Well, PLB was fast and fun! I ended not having any trouble with it. Guess I need to hike my weights up next time. I can't believe it, but I used the same weight as Cathe and the girls and it didn't kick my butt! Must be all that STS! Of course B&G killed me, so go figure.

My chest is still sore from PUB! They should put warnings on these things! LOL!

Anyway, we're definitely going running tomorrow morning. No rain! Yay! DH got us some new minimalist running shoes from Brooks called Green Silence. They are more of a traditional shoe, but designed to also mimic barefoot running. We'll see how I do in those tomorrow. They're really cool looking!

Hi ladies,
The beach was gorgeous yesterday. I got a little sun but not too much. I got up and worked a ride today. One of the horses was cantering and tripped and fell. Oops. Everyone's okay but that was our excitement for the day. I'm not sure what I'm going to do next. Dog walk and some beach time are likely. I *might* do a workout but I make no promises. Tomorrow its a fun ride and then a beach walk and then who knows.

Hi Everyone!

I ran my 5K yesterday morning. It was a hot day but not too brutal. I did conquer the killer hill at the end and I did better than I did last year. Yay!! Then I came home and did biceps and triceps from Cathe's 4DS.

Today I got up and ran 4 miles did the shoulder workout from Gym Styles and ended up swimming 140 laps this afternoon. I was not planning on the long swim but my friend did 14 laps and since I told her I would do 10x whatever she did, I had to do it. It wasn't too bad.

Lisa ~ It sounds like you had fun at the beach!

Alisha ~ The melon is just a watermelon festival with a 5K attached. LOL!! They are rampant in the South this time of year. I did a watermelon run last weekend too.

Hi ladies,
Today I went fishing instead of riding/walking. We caught 45 dolphin, 5 amberjack and 3 groupers and had a great, gorgeous day on the water. I've had lots of fun and too much rum and coke the last couple of days. I also realized that I need to ramp my UB work back up. My BBL/KB heavy rotation has been great for how I look but I was struggling to crank on a couple of fish today.

I also got sunburn on top of the poison ivy that is cropping up on my legs - nice combo!

Alisha- I think the watermelons are prizes, not handicap weights!

Honor's concert went very well. Paul is now at Boy Scout Camp (I miss my little boy!).

Did some Bob Harper workouts over the weekend and spin on Saturday. I'm just doing whatever this week and then we are on vacation next week, then I will start to follow some kind of plan again.

Jane - YAY! Knew you could knock that hill right out of there! Congrats! How do you do all those workouts in one day? I'm lucky to get my one workout and a short ab session done! I'm doing catch up here.

Alisha - Sprint/walks sound good to me! That's about how I ended up on Saturday!

Went for a run Saturday and Sunday for the first time in 4 weeks! I can't believe it was actually that long! On Saturday, we went down College Hill around the canal downtown and back up College Hill, which is super steep. Needless to say, I spent more time walking than running. We didn't get out until around 9:30 and it was already hot and humid. I had a hard time getting through the 6 miles. Sunday, we went out earlier - around 7:30. Big difference! We only did 3 miles and I was much better! Made it through with only one super short break to catch my breath. Gotta get used to the heat again!

Why, oh, why do we always have to re-acclimate every single season? (sigh . . .)
I'm glad to be running again! Today was Cardio Kicks and #6 of Ab Hits. Tomorrow is Legs & Glutes! Just what I need right now! I don't think my legs have ever recovered from Butts & Guts and PLB! When do I do upper body again?????
