Lurkers Invitation For The Holidays

Did MMA Boxing on Thursday morning. I meet some friends that night for drinks, I thought we were going to get appys too but everyone had gone out for their Christmas lunch so they didn't want anything. So I had two martinis on an empty stomach.......not good. DH picked me up from the train and we got pizza. I scarfed three pieces down because I was so hungry. Good news though I did get Friday off. Which was good since I was feeling pretty crummy. The work I thought we need to do was delayed until next week. I was going to do a workout on Friday but not feeling too good :(. I did manage to get the housework and grocery shopping done though. Today I did High Reps then got to some baking.

Pam I was very happy that I ended up getting Friday off. I really needed it. Work has been really busy. I like that the time goes by fast but I am feeling overwhelmed as well. I can hardly wait to retire. It isn't so much the work as it is the two hour commute each day. That seems to get to me more. Sounds like you have had more snow than us. Freezing rain isn't much fun.

Julie I think LLB is my favorite out of the new workouts. With how much it rains here I am glad that it is rain and not snow. Don't you hate it when you get stuck in the snow. At least DH could get you out. Yeah you got back up to your 30 push ups. I was having trouble doing the ones in High Reps and there were breaks in the sets .

Helen You are not a failure. It is really hard especially at this time of the year to have the energy to fit in all of your workouts. I am going through that right now too. It is fustrating but things will fall into place. I think not having a set schedule is hard. Don't worry once the holidays are over things will get back to normal. Enjoy Florida.

Janie Sounds like things are going really well with Rolly. Don't you hate it when you have to remind Dr. offices to make your appointments for you. I guess if you see a specialist they have to make the appointment for you. Hopefully they have got everything and Joey won't have to go back.

Tomorrow we are meeting my parents and brother at the River Rock Casino for brunch and some gambling. We do things like this instead of presents. Should be fun, this will be only my second time gambling and DH's first time. Umm maybe he will have some beginners luck :D.

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Cheryl

Baked 4 loaves of bread in the last two days. Yumm:p.

Cheryl, Great job on MMA boxing. 2 martinis, wow, I bet you weren't feeling any pain. Hope you recuperated the next day.;) Great job on High Reps today.

Enjoy your parents and brother for your holiday get together.

Take care and will see you all soon.

Janie

Good morning! This weekend was super busy so I didn’t get a chance to check-in. I did do CTX Upper Body on Saturday. I also did pushups on Saturday but did those before I did my upper body workout. This morning I did Hardcore Extreme Hi/Lo Intervals. The rotation had me pick any Hardcore Extreme workout and I picked this one forgetting about the Kick Max Blast Challenge at the end. I was already pooped from the mix of Imax3/LowMax intervals and then that came up. I actually made it through it and surprised myself by eeking out 30 pushups on my toes.

So last week I got my car stuck in the driveway. Well Saturday after shopping, DH got my car stuck in the driveway! Our neighbor came over and helped him push it out. Can't help but laugh at situations like that. DH even told me he can't get mad for me getting the car stuck when he does the same thing!

Pam I hope you had better luck than me after Butts & Guts on Friday! Saturday and Sunday was a struggle with going to the bathroom (Sunday was better but still). It had been quite awhile since I had done Gym Style Legs and boy was I feeling it. Great job on 4DS/LIC and getting those pushups in! Doing pushups after an upper body workout is so hard so great job on doing it! Glad you dinner party went well!

Janie Great job on STS TB! It is always hard when anniversaries of loved ones passing come up. Despite how difficult they are, they do give us a chance to keep that loved ones memory alive and remember how much they impacted our lives. That is terrible that the doctor’s office forgets to make appointments for surgeries. I know they are busy but come on it is part of their job!

Cheryl Great job on MMA Boxing and High Reps! So happy for you that you got a day off. I am still hoping you get more off in the next couple of weeks. I know I am taking 12/30 through 1/3 off and I am so looking forward to it. I am nowhere near close to retirement (30+ years away) but I am right there with you on the 2 hour commute each day. I think I would be so much happier if I could work from home just a couple of days a week. Have fun gambling!

Happy Monday!

Cheryl Good jog on MMA Boxing, I haven't done that one in awhile. Sorry your drinks and apps turned into just drinks, I might have been tempted to order a little something anyway. Yummm, pizza. I was just telling my DH that I can't remember the last time I had pizza  I think we will have to have it over the holidays sometime! I'm glad to hear that you were able to take Friday off it sounded like you really needed it! Does this mean this week is going to be crazy busy though? I hope not!
I haven't done any baking for Christmas yet and haven't done any Christmas cards. I'm not sure I'm going to get them done at this point :(
Two hours of commuting is horrible. It makes it hard to get anything else done in a day. I try to work at home every Friday which I have really been enjoying. I'm not someone who can work at home every day, but I love having that one day. It makes a big difference.
How was gambling? Did you win big so that you can retire immediately? :p I hope so!! That sounds like a fun thing to do instead of presents, I like that idea.

Janie Yuummmmmm, 4 loaves of bread. There is nothing better than the smell of bread baking!
Howw annoying that the Drs office forgot to make Joey's appt! That is the kind of thing that you don't want to have delayed.

Julie[/.B] Good job on your workouts and all those pushups over the weekend. That Kick Max blast challenge is so hard, I have only done it one time and I still have vivid memories! My legs/glutes were doing pretty well at the end of the week surprisingly, so going to the bathroom didn't end up being a challenge!
That is pretty funny that your DH got stuck in your driveway too! Probably made you feel a little better about it huh?

I felt like I gained 5 pounds over the weekend with parties Friday, Saturday and Sunday  Luckily I didn't but my stomach still feels a little icky. Time for some good soup and salad for dinner tonight and then another party tomorrow night  Yesterday DSS came over because she wanted to make cake pops to take in to her class at school. She has a teacher who will throw out their lowest quiz grade if they bring in a treat for the class  This morning was 4DS HIS and I didn't get to do my extra pushups yet because we had to go take the cake pops to the school. I'll have to try to get them in later today. The pictures didn't turn out very well because they were in the box for transport, but here are the cake pops:

Happy Monday everyone!
Pam

Joey and I did High Rep Sculpting from The Firm. Had a good time with that and used heavier weight. Looks like it's getting darker outside which means rain.

Julie, 30 push ups! You go girl! Just goes to show how exercise does work by getting you stronger and healthier. Proud of ya. Also great job on CTX Upper Body, Hard Core Extreme HI/LO Intervals. You even made it through the Kick Max Blast Challenge. All I can say is WOW! LOL about hubby getting the car stuck in the driveway. He's a good sport. Thank you for the encouragement about my loved ones.

Pam, I didn't know you are commuting for two hours. That takes a chunk out of your day. Poor thing. Enjoy your parties, they won't last long. You'll be in tip top shape in no time rearwards. What are cake pops? Great job on 4DS HIS. Those workouts are awesome. If you do the push ups, let us know, you are giving me inspiration to do them as well. Oh! I see in the pictures what cake pops are. They look like little reindeer lollipops on a stick. Very clever. I want one, YUmmm.

Have a great Monday everyone,

Janie

Yesterday was fun going to the Casino. I didn't win anything but DH won $20 and my brother won $97. Didn't win enough to retire yet Pam :(. Maybe I will try a lottery ticket :D. The buffet was really good too. I ate so much I didn't need dinner.

I did manage to do a yoga workout before we left yesterday and this morning I did Intensity all the way through. I got good news at work too. I had applied for a position that pays more than what I am making now and I was told today that I got it . I thought I had blown the interview, I guess I didn't. It is only for 6 months with an option for an extension. I will see where it takes me.

Janie Yum fresh baked bread. I love the smell of baking bread. After the two martini's on an empty stomach I really wasn't feeling any pain. I was really happy that I didn't have to go into work the next day. I also received your Christmas card today. I sent you a PM.

Julie You have been doing really well with your workouts. Too funny that your DH got stuck in your driveway too. I do have all of next week off. I am still hoping to get this Friday off but we will see. Even if I do have to go in it is only for 1/2 a day. Enjoy your time off. I remember when I was 30+ years away from retirement, now I have been at the same place for 32 years (in February) and now I am in my last 5 years. Don't worry it will go by fast. But I hear ya on that commute. I will not miss that.

Pam I thought about ordering something but the table we were sitting at was really tiny (there was 5 of us). We only had room for our drinks. DH loves pizza and there is a little pizza place by us that has a Thursday night deal. So if we do order pizza it is on Thursday. This week will be busy but not as busy as I thought it would be. The budget that we thought was going to come in this week has been delayed until sometime in January. I really did need that Friday off, I got things done that I hadn't had time to do.
I got some Christmas baking done this weekend but not much. You are lucky that you can work from home on Fridays. I don't have that option, wish I did. I lost all of my money gambling.........still have to work (bummer). We thought we would do something different instead of presents. We all seem to have everything that we need (unless someone wants to pay off our mortgage :D). So we try to do something different every year. Last year we went over to Victoria and Buchart Gardens which does up a Christmas theme every year with lights. It was really nice........too bad it poured rain. The year before we were going to go up to the top of Grouse Mountain but it snowed so much we had to cancel it. For that matter we had to postphone Christmas because our car was buried under 3 feet of snow. We weren't going anywhere. I know about your stomach feeling icky. I need to get back to the healthy eating......I however did gain the 5 pounds you didn't . Those cake pops look really cool. Talk about bribery, throwing out their lowest quiz score.

Tomorrow we are going our for our Christmas lunch at work. The place we are going to has great seafood yummy.

Have a great Tuesday everyone.

Cheryl

This morning I did Power Hour. I decided to do my pushups before Power Hour for fear I would be too tired afterwards. I did get 30 on my toes again. I tend to lose form as I get closer to 30. I am hoping one day to be able to do 30 with proper form. Cathe just looks amazing when she does pushups and I am sure I do not look anywhere near that!

Pam Great job on 4DS HIS! I love the 4DS but always have trouble with the step combos. Those cake pops are so darn cute! You must have a special pan that you bake them in? The decorating job looks good enough to be in a bakery shop!

Janie Great job on your Firm workout! I do feel pretty impressed with myself for the pushups! I hate to sound conceited but I just can’t believe I am doing it! It wasn’t even a year ago that I could barely do 1 pushup on my toes let along 30! Cathe workouts have made feel stronger than ever and I am so happy I found her (and you guys through her). Last night I shoveled the driveway and do not feel sore or anything this morning. Now last year, when I shoveled, I needed 2 days to recover!

Cheryl Congratulations on making it through Intensity!! That is really great news about the job! Isn’t it funny that you always think you did worse than you did during an interview or whatever the case may be. Just shows you how hard we are on ourselves most of the time. Enjoy your Christmas lunch!

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Janie I don't have the High Rep sculpting from the Firm but I'm sure it's a good one as their workouts all are. Great job with that. Hope you didn't get too much rain!
My commute isn't always 2 hours, depending on traffic, it can be as quick as 30 minutes one way (that is fast thoughj) or as long as an hour. Normal is about 40 minutes though. I forgot to do my pushups yesterday - I remembered when I was laying in bed at night...oh well! The cake pops are basically little balls of cake on a stick. There is a great blog called Bakerella and she makes all kinds of really really cute ones. I found the recipe there a couple of years ago and made them for my step daughters birthday and she just loved them. The recipe sounds gross, but they taste really good.

Cheryl I'm glad you had fun at the casino, but too bad you didn't win anything. Maybe next time! Great job on getting through Intensity! It sure is tough but so much fun! CONGRATULATIONS on your new job!! That is a great Christmas present. Will this impact your hours at all?
I think that is good news that this week won't be so crazy busy for you. It sounds like you need the break and maybe now you'll be a ble to take Friday off?
I hope you enjoy your Christmas lunch today!

Julie You are so smart doing your pushups before your ewight workouts, I need to try to remember that! And 30 on your toes again! I don't think I will be catching you anytime soon. I got 23 today and was happy with that.
No special cake pan for the cake pops. They are really easy to do. You bake a cake in a 9x13 pan and after it cools crumble the whole thing up and mix a can of frosting with it. Then you roll it all into ball, put the sticks in and freeze for awhile. Then you dip them in melted chocolate and decorate however you want. Crazy huh? They sound disgusting but taste really good. Now they are starting to make special pans and decorating kits and everything for them, but I'll stick to the traditional kind.

This morning was Leaner Legs and then got in 23 pushups on my toes. That leg workout was tought this morning, I'm afraid I may fail the bathroom test tomorrow! :p My upper body is still sore from yesterdays chest and back work. Ouch. Now I'm off for the holidays, although I am doing a conf call this morning. That will be quick though and then it will be baking and shopping and shopping and baking. Whew! I'm almost done with the shopping but of course the ones that are left are the ones that I have no ideas for  I'm hoping to get some inspiration! Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Pam

Did Rhythmic Step and it was wonderful. I just love that one.

Cheryl, So glad you had a good time at the Casino. Good for you. Great job on the yoga and Intensity. All the way through it? You are good!

Congratulations on your new job position. YEAH! I hope it takes you far.:D

Enjoy your Christmas Lunch at work. Sounds wonderful.:p

Julie, Great job on Power Hour and your 30 push ups on your toes. You were smart doing them first.;) Your are not conceited, you are doing something amazing and most people can not do that. You worked hard getting there, and you should be very proud of it. I'd shout it to the roof tops if I were you. Amazing how far you have come. So very proud of you!!!!!!!!:D

Pam, You poor thing, thinking of push ups while in bed. Now that is dedication.

The commute doesn't sound like you can depend on it at all. You have to go early because of all the variables. Jeesh! So glad I'm not working anymore.

Great job on Leaner Legs and the wonderful 23 push ups on toes, that I envy.

I'll have to look on Bakerella site to see what's up. Sounds interesting. Hope you do fail the bathroom test tomorrow. LOL:D

Enjoy your baking and shopping and shopping and baking.;)

Have a great day everyone,

Janie

This morning was STS Total Body. I really just wanted to go back to bed but I decided to stick it out and I am glad that I did. Lunch today was really good. I started with clam chowder and then had salmon with roasted potatoes. My tummy though is tired of all of this rich food. Time to get back to the healthy eating.

Julie It looks like 30 is your magic number for pushups. Good idea to do it first before your upper body got too tired from Power Hour. I am still in shock that I got the job. Funny how you can feel really good about an interview and not get the job. This was a really good Christmas present for me.

Pam It would have been nice to win at the casino but I only spent $20 so it wasn't too bad to lose. Intensity is tough but it is one that I won't get tired of any time soon. My new job won't impact my hours at all. I will be able to work the same and it is nice that I only have to move one floor down.
I am still not sure about taking Friday off. I have a hugh spreadsheet that I need to complete and that is about a 2 day job. So if nothing else gets in my way I will be off on Friday, if not at least it is only 1/2 a day. Enjoy your time off and your toilet test tomorrow :D.

Janie Rhythmic Step is a fun workout. I did do Intensity all the way through but I did struggle with some of the high impact Hiit moves. I am hoping that this new postion will open more doors for me and higher pay. It will affect how much I receive in my pension when I can finally retire.

Well I haven't decided yet if I will take tomorrow as my day off or go for it. Imax 2 is scheduled for tomorrow so we will see.

Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Cheryl

This morning I did Step Fit and pushups. I only got 23 on my toes which is a big step down but I will still take it. I think it was because I was distracted and did not want to be working out this morning which I will explain further. For the last several nights, we have been putting a doggie diaper/wrap on Oscar before bed and then taking it off of him in the morning. It is a good thing we have been doing it because he has gone in the diaper when I take it off in the morning. Well this morning, I took off his diaper and there was bloody spots in it. Then I let him outside, and he peed on the deck leaving a big red spot in the snow. I am so scared something is really wrong with him. The vet doesn’t open for another 30 minutes and I had to go into work for a 7:30 meeting. I hated leaving him at home so I asked my dad to come stay with him. Once the vet opens I will be calling and trying to get an appointment as soon as I can and let everyone know what is going on.

Pam Great job on Leaner Legs and your 23 pushups. You are moving right along on those pushups! I hope you are able to use the potty after yesterday’s workout!

Janie Great job on Rhythmic Step! I haven’t done that one in forever but it was so good!

Cheryl Great job on sticking it out with STS TB! I have plenty of mornings were I don’t feel like working out but do it anyway and then am happy that I did it.

Sorry for the short responses to everyone but I am having major problems concentrating so it is better if I just wish everyone a good day and get back with you tomorrow.

Janie QUOTE=janiejoey;2063773] Rhythmic Step is just so much fun. It always puts me in a good mood. Great job!
I'm not sure I'd call it dedication thinking about NOT doing my pushups while I was in bed ;) if I was truly dedicated I would have been thinking about doing them while I was actually doing them!
Yes the commute is crazy and totally unpredictable. That's the worst part about it for me.
I guess yesterday's workout wasn't as bad as I thought because no problem with the toilet test at all today  Very odd.....

Cheryl Great job with STS total body, especially when you really didn't feel like doing it. Those are always the best days (when you are done that is!) Your lunch sounds wonderful. I just love clam chowder. Hmmm..maybe I'll have to make some this week......
You sound like me when I go to a casino, I don't want to lose money so I limit myself to $10-20. I know it's hard to win big that way, but your odds of winning big are so small that I just want to make sure I don't lose.
That's great that the new job is the same hours too, sounds wonderful! A huge spreadsheet on the other hand does not sound wonderful  good luck with that! I hope you get it done and are able to take Friday off!
Did today end up being an off day or an Imax day???

Oh Julie I can sure understand you being distracted this morning :( Poor Oscar, I know that has to be so scary for you wondering what is going on. I hope you are able to get him to the vet soon and that it isn't anything serious. I will be thinking about you and Oscar and praying that everything is ok.

This morning was 4DS LIS for me. I was only able to do 22 pushups on my toes after that. Maybe because of all the shoulder work, not sure. I also did have a lot of energy because we went to a Christmas party last night and had lots of good champagne and wine :rolleyes:I got some cookies made yesterday and will finish today. Then finish up the wrapping and we'll finally be ready for Christmas. Julie, please keep us posted on Oscar! Have a good Wednesday everyone!

Pam

Joey and I did Total Body Sculpting today using heavier weight.

Have to wrap a few gifts, then I'm all done, even with cooking. YEAH! My cooking is buying a Lemon Meringue and Pumpkin Pie. Yep, I did it the easy way.;)

Cheryl, Great job on STS TB. Good for you to stick with your planned workout. Sounds like a wonderful lunch. I'm with you, I can't wait until after Christmas, because I want to eat better too.

Julie, That's OK for short responses. It's that time of year. Great job on Step Fit and 23 push ups. I would take that many too. That's GOOD! Oh No! I sure hope Oscar will be OK. Do let us know what happens, the poor little thing. (((((Hugs to you and Oscar))))).

Pam, I didn't know you were in bed not wanting to exercise.;) Still, you did a lot of push ups, perhaps listening to your body is a good thing. Great job on 4DS LIS. 22 push ups is fantastic. Take it! I agree, must have been because of the shoulder work.

Take care everyone and Oscar,

Janie

Janie Great job on TBS with Joey and congratulations on being ready for Christmas. I just have a few things to wrap, but I am doing some cooking. My SIL is doing Christmas Eve dinner so I'm just making a dessert and broccoli casserole. I'll be doing Christmas day but plan on keeping it pretty simple. I finished my cookies yesterday.

Julie Thinking about you and hoping for some good news about Oscar.
Cheryl Hope you're doing well
Helen Hope you are enjoying Florida!

This morning was supposed to be a 20 minute steady state run and then a core max section. I decided to do 40/20 in place of the steady state run. It was really really tough this morning, I struggled through the whole thing. Then I struggled through my pushups and was barely able to get 21 on my toes  I just had no ooomph this morning. I didn't even eat any of those cookies I baked  As my grandfather always used to say, Happy Night before the Night before Christmas everyone!

Pam

This morning was Step, Jump, Pump. I did 29 pushups before starting SJP. I am so glad I did them before because I was dead tired by the time the ab section came along!

Oscar went to the vet yesterday and they took an ultrasound of his bladder. He had one a few weeks ago that was completely clear and normal. Yesterday’s showed the lining was completely tore up, the baldder was full of blood and much smaller than last time. The vet said if she didn’t know better she would not have thought it was the same dog. There are two possible reasons for the tore up lining: 1) trauma of some kind that caused a blood vessel to break (either from falling or from the bladder being stretched because it was too full) or 2) bladder cancer. She said bladder cancer is more unlikely given that it is typically a slow growing cancer and should not have developed this far this fast. Right now he is on a pain killer that also slows the growth of bladder cancer cells and an antibiotic and we have to recheck the ultrasound in a week. Until then it is diapers all day long because he will just be standing there and leaking blood out. The vet said this could be like that until Monday.

Pam Great job on 4DS LIS and the 22 pushups! Pushups do work your shoulders pretty hard so I can understand with all the shoulder work in 4DS they would be tough to crank out but 22 is still very good! Great job on finishing 40/20 and your pushups even when you didn’t have the energy. Those types of workouts are so hard and I always feel like it was a waste because I couldn’t give it my best but then I remember Cathe always tells us to “do something” and doing something is better than nothing. Thanks for thoughts on Oscar! I will keep everyone posted on how he is doing but probably won’t have an official diagnosis until next week.

Janie Great job on TBS with Joey! I still have 1 more present to wrap and some cookies to make and decorate but other than that I am done! I love Lemon Meringue pie and have not had it in years. Please have a slice for me and tell me how good it is!! Thanks for the hugs for Oscar! I will be sure to pass them along to him when I get home tonight!

Happy Christmas Eve Eve!

Got caught up in a hockey game yesterday so didn't get a chance to post. I took Wednesday as my day off but I did Lower Body Blast this morning.

Julie ((((((HUGS)))))) I hope Oscar will be OK. It is hard working out when you have other things on your mind, especially our fur babies. Well from your last post it sounds like it might not be too serious with Oscar? At least you only have to wait until Monday for another ultrasound. If you lived here you would have to wait until Wednesday due to all of the stat holidays and that is hard to do when you are worried about a pet. At least it doesn't sound like he has cancer which is good.

Pam I love clam chowder but DH doesn't. I would love to make some but I would be the only one eating it. I hate losing money so I make sure that I set a limit. Although last year at the casino I only have $20 to spend and I ended up winning $100. Not bad for my first time. The hugh spreadsheet was a pain but I got it done. Now I have tomorrow and next week off!!!!! I have those mornings with no oomph. Those are hard to get through especially when you do one of the Hiit workouts .

Janie Pumpkin pie is my favorite. I can hardly wait for all of this food to be gone. I have now had enough of it.

Have a Happy Christmas Eve everyone.

Cheryl

Did 30 min. on the treadmill. Intermittent jogs.

Pam, The broccoli casserole sounds so healthy. I bet the desert is good too.:p Great job on the 40/20, struggling is a good thing. Being challenged like that really wakes up the body. No oomph may mean to take a rest day. Awesome work!

Julie, Your workout and push ups are awesome! Well done. Does that mean Oscar is going to be OK? Will the torn lining repair itself? Poor thing! :( I'm glad that it's not cancer. I'll have a slice of Lemon Meringue pie just for you.:p LOL

Cheryl, Me too. I'm so done eating like a... Great job on LBB. I love that one.

Need to finish up with a couple more gifts to wrap, and cook the pumpkin pie tomorrow. Then that's it for me.

Have a great Christmas Eve tomorrow and a Merry Christmas the next day. What ever you do, have fun and enjoy all the people around you.

Cheers to all of my dear dear cyberspace friends.

Love ya,

Janie

Morning all! Just a quick post to say Merry Christmas Eve! I hope everyone has a wonderful wonderful Christmas. Enjoy your family and don't worry about the calories for a day or two! :D

Pam

Janie Good job on your treadmill workout the other day. You're right, there was nothing healthy at all about the broccoli casserole or the peppermint cheesecake (with fudge sauce of course :D ) but we don't worry about those things for a couple of days!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I did 4DS kickbox on Christmas Eve morning and then 24 push ups on my toes, Yea! I took yesterday as my day off instead of today and this morning was 4DS bootcamp. I was only able to squeeze out 21 pushups on my toes though and that was tough! My triceps are screaming at me right now from the weight work in bootcamp. Ouch! Now we are having a big snowstorm  We have about 6 inches of snow, this place is going to be closed down for days. Ay yi yi. But DSD has to go to work at the mall, I am so surprised they are open. DH has gone to take her, hopefully the roads are ok. They pre-treated all the main roads, so once they got out of the subdivision hopefully things weren't too bad. Now I have to start rooting around the house to figure out what we are all going to eat tonight since I hadn't planned past yesterday. Hmmm...a big pot of chili would be nice, hopefully I have all of the fixins! Happy day after Christmas everybody!

Pam
