Lurkers Invitation For The Holidays

Helen Happy Birthday to your husband! My DH and I both turn 50 in 2011. Your homemade ravioli sounds fabulous. I have made it a few times but would like to remember to make it more often because it's so good!
I absolutely love the workout manager! I started using it at the beginning of this year and it says I have burned over 122000 calories this year. Hard to believe! I also love the rotations and not having to think about what workout I'm going to do. It seems like such a small thing but makes a big difference (for me at least!) .
That is so fun that your daughter is doing your workouts with you! It sounds like you have created a new Cathlete! How was CCC??! That was is an absolute killer, I bet she was really cursing you out during that one!
Your New Year's dinner sounds wonderful. We are also making a decadent meal - shrimp stuffed with crabmeat, tuscan steak, potatoes, beans and a chocolate marquise wih cherry sauce for dessert. I had never heard of chocolate marquise before, but the recipe looked interesting. I'm hoping I can stay awake until midnight, last night it was a struggle to stay awake until 10:00. My DH isn't too confident that I will make it.

Julie Wow, you have been busy with all of your intense cleaning, great job. Doesn't it just feel wondeful to get that all done?!
I'm so glad to hear that Oscar is doing so muc better, I know that must be a huge relief!
I love the gauntlet too and haven't done that one in awhile. It is a real killer though! I don't think you will have any problem at all with Boot Camp. Each section is only a minute long, and as Cathe says, you can do anything for a minute! ;) It was my very favorite workout when I first got it, I was doing it all the time. it also has some really good premixes.
The Criminal Minds marathon sounds like fun - we are watching all of the Lost episodes on NetFlix. I think after that we will start watching Dexter.

Janie Poor Rolly - 24 degrees is really cold. I just think it's so cute that he wears a jacket too :)
You should definitely try out the workout manager, it's great. I'm also hearing great things about the workout blender, I want to try that out too.
I just loved 24 too, My DH and I watched it as a marathon too. I love doing it that way!

Cheryl That's quite the way to ring in the New Year - not being able to go to the bathroom! :p I just hate it when I eat so much that I am so full and uncomfortable and I have been doing a lot of that over the holidays. It will be really nice to get back to normal.
It is funny how you never forget those old workouts, some of them I almost know by heart!
Prince Charles and Camilla have 149 staff to look after them?! That seems a little excessive for 2 people

Janie Great job on the Firm Volume 3, who is the instructor in that one? That is how I tell the Firm workouts apart! My favs are Susan Harris and Sandahl Bergman, but all of those original Firms are pretty good.
That is so cool about the dogs and even the big one starting to be friendly! That is a great accomplishment! Pretty soon they will probably be hanging out around your house all the time!

Julie Good job on your pyramid work today! That's funny that DH is napping, but maybe he's just trying to make sure he can stay up for tonight! You and Cheryl are both ringing in the New Year failing the toilet test  you better make sure you don't drink too much tonight

We are at the beach now so my workout today was a 5 mile walk on the beach. It was nice to be outside but I probably needed to do about 10 miles after the sausage, eggs, and biscuits for breakfast  DH is sitting here trying to help me write this  so guess it's time to go. I hope everyone has a fantastic New Year's and I will talk to you in 2011!

Pam

1-1-11:)
Just a quick check-in...HAPPY NEW YEAR! My husband and I had a wonderful night in. Our seafood menu was really good, too.

My daughter and I didn't do CCC as planned on Thursday. She saw that it was 51 minutes long and picked up HiiT DWP and said, "How about this one? It's only 30 minutes long." I grinned and put in the dvd. When we finished in a puddle, she said, "Shorter doesn't mean easier, does it?" :D

Yesterday she joined me for Back & Biceps (Disc 15) and loved it. Today we did four of the routines on Ab Circuits. Now I'm sure she's napping.:p

Have a wonderful day, everyone. Blessings in this New Year! :D Helen

Rest day yesterday and today for us. Friday we didn't workout because I had a backache for some reason. It's better today, but man it was hurting there for awhile. Tomorrow, Joey will be pleased, doing TBS, Total Body Sculpting), LOL:D It will be easier on my back.

The big dark gray dog and Baby visited this morning and smelled Rolly through his guarded fence. Baby was very protective of me. I think she thinks she owns me. When the other dog got his treat and pet, she wouldn't allow him his pet, she nipped at him and barked, it seems, like a warning. I ignored that behavior. Scary:confused:! Why does she do that? I walked them to the end of the driveway to tell them to go home, but they wouldn't go. They followed me back home. Hmmmmm. What do I do now? They've been outside the door for an hour now, and it's 24 degrees outside. I'm sure they will go home soon. Baby is barking for my attention or to come inside the house, I'm ignoring that as well.:( sigh...

Joey is not sure of these dogs. Especially the gray one, but I still really like Baby. Joey says her unpredictability could go the other way and I might receive a nip (bite). I told him that I hoped he was wrong. He says it's a no win situation. Joey says to stop feeding them.:( I'll pet them when they comes over, but I have to agree not to feed them with treats any longer. sigh...

Julie, Great job on the upper and the standing work of lower body. You did the Pikes? Wow, very well done. I agree with Pam, better watch your intake of liguids. LOL

Joey and I watch DVD's for the same reason, commercials.

Now Baby wants me all to herself, or she'll nip at the other dog. Any suggestions? I'm so unfamiliar with big dogs, they are so intimidating to me.

Pam, You are going to love Dexter! He is a serial killer and the way it goes in the show, you are in favor for Dexter. Can you believe that, in favor of a serial killer? Can't wait for the next season!

The Firm Vol. 3 is Sandahl Bergman. You are good! Those are the only ones beside The Firm's TBS, that Joey will do.

The dogs are now hanging around our house, I think for treats. Not liking that to much. Any suggestions on how to handle that, or will not treating them be enough? I always have problems, don't I? sigh...

I've done the Workout manager, (I remember now, it's pretty cool), buts it's been awhile. Wonder if it's changed a little, I'll go find out. :) It costs money for the workout blender though, doesn't it?

Lucky you, a five mile walk on the beach. How wonderful, you know that I love going to the ocean. Enjoy!

Helen, Your daughter is so cute! You are pure MOM, not telling her about Hiit DWP. Bet you are enjoying exercising with someone and a very special someone at that.;) Have fun, the both of you. Great job also on STS Back and Biceps (#15). Also on the four routines of Ab Circuits. You guys are good!

Have a wonderful day everyone,

Janie

OK my New Years Resolution is "I AM NEVER (AND I MEAN NEVER) DRINKING AGAIN!!!!!"
Stupid me I got home from the hairdressers starving but because we were going to my brother's for dinner I only ate a banana and a cookie. So after we get to my brother's I had a champaign drink and was feeling it. I was offered a martini but I said no I didn't want one. Well another person who was there wanted me to have a drink with her so I caved in and had one. Well that was the end of me and dinner was late and I had another 4 glasses of wine (so I am told) I really don't remember . So I have spent the last couple of days recovering.......stupid, stupid me.
So I am back to healthy eating and I went to yoga this morning. Tomorrow I will start Cathe's January rotation.

Janie I don't know very much about dogs to give you any advise. I think Baby really likes you and she probably gets more attention from you than her owner that is why she is protective of you. The feeding them sounded good at the beginning but now maybe Joey is right to stop feeding them for a while and see what happens.

Helen That is too funny that your daughter thought because HiiT DWP was only 30 minutes long it was easier.

Pam I am soooo glad the holidays are over. I want to get back to normal and lose the weight that I gained in December. So did you stay up until midnight?

Julie You did a tought workout with the pyramid series. I try to do the ab work first so I can do those pikes.

Hope everyone had a great New Year and happy Sunday.

Cheryl

Hi Gang,

Cheryl has suggested for us to think about another name for our group awhile back. If that were to happen, this is a great time to do it. We have to change it anyway to delete the word "holiday".

This is our thread and would like to get your opinion on this. If we do decide to take a cool name for this group, know that I will still continue to post in our new thread right along with ya, however, I will once again create another thread for Lurkers out there if they are interested. Of course, you can still be in the group and be part of it always. Moving forward or not is all good, and creating a name for ourselves could be fun. We can't lose either way.

Cheryl, I'm proud of you with your plan of attach with healthy eating and starting Cathe's January rotation. I read it and I have to tell ya, it will be a challenge. I know you can do it. YEAH!

Joey says the same thing you do, that the neighbor most likely doesn't pay to much attention to his dogs. I think not feeding them is a good idea too. I'll do that and just pet them. Will see what happens.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Helen[/B[ Happy new Year to you and glad to hear that your seafood dinner was so nice! That's funny that you DD picked DWP thinking it would be easy since it is 'only' 30 minutes! I remember when I first saw that tape I was so disappointed that the workouts were so short! HA! Then I did 40/20 and I was SO happy that it was no any longer!

[B[Janie[/B So glad to hear that you back pain didn't last too long and you'll be getting back to your TBS today!
So cute that Baby is now protective of you. They aren't going to want to go back home to their groucy old owner pretty soon! It's not good that she is nipping at the other dog though  hopefully that won't happen anymore! It sounds like they like you a little too much now! What a tough situation!
Our friends were telling us a little about Dexter too. They say he's a serial killer but he's a GOOD serial killer?! Huh? Sounds very interesting! I don't know when we'll get to it though, it's sometimes a couple of weeks before we even get in a single episode of Lost. We'll get there eventually though!
Both the workout manager and the workout blender are free, but to use the workout blender you have to have Cathe downloads. It only works with downloads you have purchased, you can't load your dvds. I haven't tried it yet but people have been raving about it.
I wish I had some good advice for you on the dogs. I can understand them wanting to be with you after hearing what their owner is like though. He is probably no nicer to them than he is to people

Cheryl Uh uh - that sounds like a hangover talking :p Sorry to hear you had such a rough time. Drinking withough eating can be a very ver bad thing! I'm glad to hear you are doing better now!
I started Cathe's January rotation today too, so we'll be doing it together!
I did make it until midnight! I even made it until about 1:00 am. It was a lot of fun!

Janie I agree that we should try to come up with a new name for our group. Of course I have no good ideas.....

I took the last three days off while we were at the beach except for walks on the beach. This morning I started Cathe's January rotation with Hiit DWP and it was SO HARD! I made it through though and then did 25 1/2 pushups on my toes. The first weigh in after all of the eating and drinking wasn't too bad either, I am up a pound, but that is manageable so all in all I'm pretty happy. I also found my first shark's tooth ever on Saturday! I was so excited. DH found one too and said it was his first ever. I usually collect beach glass but now will be on the lookout for those teeth too. We got all of the Christmas stuff down and put away yesterday. I hated to take down the tree, it was our prettiest one ever. Back to work tomorrow...sigh. It's been a great holiday though. I hope everyone has a fantastic 2011!!

Pam

Looks like everyone is back on track!

Cheryl: Hangovers...ugh. I've had my share in my life, but thankfully, have finally learned when to say "when". Lesson learned, huh?

Pam: When I first got the HiiT workouts, I thought the same as my daughter. I thought, "I can do two of these workouts back to back. This will be a piece of cake." Let me tell you, I was glad they weren't 31 minutes long and I have yet to do two in a row!

Janie: I don't know much about dogs, either, but I do know this...our black lab used to go on his own little adventures around our rural neighborhood. All of our neighbors (all 3 of them within a mile) said they didn't mind, but it bothered us that he started disregarding our commands for him to "stay" in our yard. When talking to our neighbors, we discovered that one of them was giving him table scraps (something we NEVER do) and Otis (our dog) was loving every minute of it. It didn't take him long to associate going outside with taking a little trip to get table scraps! Aggressive dogs scare me, too...most dogs give me the willies...so I'm glad they've warmed up to you a little.

Julie: I'm glad Oscar is on the mend.

A new name for this thread? Hmmmm....I'll have to think about that.

We've got Disc 16, Chest, Shoulders, and Tri's on tap today. We (my daughter and I) are both sore from last week's fitness festival. It feels good.

Have a wonderful Monday, everyone. :D Helen

It was HiiT DWP this morning and the STS Yoga Based Abs. I still can't do those darn levatation holds . Something to work on this year.

Janie I am so not good with thinking up names but I will see if I can think of something. That January rotation will be a challenge. I will miss the third week of it because I have to go to Ottawa again. Yuck Ottawa in January, not nice. I think those dogs are craving attention and you are giving it to them that is why they like coming to see you.

Pam Yep Saturday was a rough day but I feel much better now. I am just going to move on now and get back to my healthy eating. Glad that you made it to 1 a.m.. It's funny I think DWP is one of the easier ones  but then again I like those one legged hops in Imax 2 :D. Lucky you only being up a pound I'm up 5 :(. Cool to find a shark's tooth. I'm back to work tomorrow too, it went by so fast.

Helen Oh yes lesson learned getting back to normal. Our neighbours used to feed our cat food too so he always wanted to go over there. We finally had to tell them to stop so we could keep him in our little area. They do learn where the food is really fast don't they.

Well have a great Tuesday everyone.

Cheryl

Joey and I did TBS, because I was favoring my back. It feels really good tonight so I'm thinking a cardio tomorrow.

The two dogs were here this morning barking at the front door I think for treats, or me or both. I didn't answer the door and ignored them. They finely went home after a couple of hours. If they are here tomorrow I will go outside to pet them with no treats with me. This is so strange:confused:.

Pam, There's a lot of people starting Cathe's January Rotation. It does look like a challenging one. Great job on Hiit DWP and your 25 1/2 pushups on toes. You are so lucky not gaining but only one pound. Myself:confused:, oops! Will be working on that. How cool finding shark's teeth. Will you be making a necklace out of it, or just collecting it?

Helen, Your story got me thinking about these dogs and me giving them treats. I will for sure now, won't be giving them treats. That story helped me a lot. Thanks.:) Congratulations on getting Disc 16, Chest and Shoulders, and Tri's. Great job on last weeks fitness festival.

Cheryl, Great job on HiiT DWP and the STS abs. I too have to work on those levitation holds. Whew, those are hard! I have to agree with you on the dog theary. But, man...it's strange.

Have a really nice evening everyone,

Janie

Well I didn’t get to posting yesterday even though I stayed home from work on my last day of vacation for awhile. I did do Boot Camp which was tough!

This morning I did Step Works. I thought I had done that one before but everything was so new I guess I had mixed it up with Step Fit. It was fun but I was super exhausted. I guess it might take awhile to get back in the habit of waking up at 3:30 again.

Pam Great job on your 5 mile beach walk! Boot Camp was fun and it went by super fast. I could definitely do without the minute of terminator/squat thrust climbers though! My sister loves Dexter but I haven’t watched it yet. Great job on DWP! I looked at the January rotation and think I am will save it until February. I am almost done with a rotation and then already have everything set up to start a new one next week. Great job on keeping up with the pushups. I have to say, I have severely slacked in that department and need to get back to it.

Helen I bet your daughter will think twice before picking something up because it is shorter! CCC is a toughie too but DWP smacks you in the face when you are least expecting it! Great job on continuing that good work with STS and ab circuits!

Janie Good job on listening to your body and taking some time off to give your back rest! Hmm. Baby’s behavior may be out of jealousy. I know when we pet Oscar, Maggie will bully her way between Oscar and us until we are petting her and not Oscar anymore. She doesn’t nip though so I am not sure why Baby would be nipping. I agree to lay off the treats and just pet them. They will learn that coming over doesn’t always guarantee treats. I am really not very creative but I will try to think of something to name our little group!

Cheryl Great job on going to Yoga and working out the alcohol effects! I meant to do the ab work first in PUB but totally forgot about it and then almost didn’t do it at all. That January rotation looks like a killer one! I will be waiting until February to start it so be sure to tell me all the good stuff I get to look forward to!

Have a great day everyone!

Helen I have done 2 Hiits in a row twice since I first got them. Both times were days when I was feeling especially energetic (obviously!) but both times afterwards I decided I must be crazy! They are total killers!
Your fitness fest last week sounds like it was a great way to spend some quality time with your DD over the holidays, and maybe you have even started a habit with her as a bonus!

Cheryl You got me all concerned when I saw that you did yoga abs in addition to Hiit DWP, I thought I had missed the abs in the rotation and had to go back and check. It looks like you just threw that in as a bonus though! I'm not sure I will ever be able to do those levitation holds. My legs don't even come close to coming off the ground!
I agree that I usually find DWP to be one of the easier Hiits, but for some reason it was really hard yesterday. That is strange too because usually I have a lot more energy after I've had a couple of days off, but that wasn't the case! I don't see how ANYONE likes those one-legged hops though! ;)

Janie Great job on TBS with Joey. Glad to hear that your back is feeling good too!
I'm guessing that the dogs are probably a combination of the treats and the attention. It sounds like they have been very attention starved so they are soaking it up now that they are getting some. I think the idea of just petting them with no treats is a good one. Hopefully that will help.
The January rotation does look like a killer. There are several days with double workouts, so already planning on how I will split those up. Plus next week has both the Body maxs which are an hour and a half long so I may end up splitting those up as well. It's great to start the year out hard though! My shark's tooth is too small for a necklace so for now will just add it to my glass collection. DS found one last year that we had made into a necklace for him, but I guess 14 year old boys aren't so into wearing necklaces.....
I was quite surprised that I hadn't gained more than a pound, I certainly felt like it was going to be worse than that. I still need to get back to more reasonable eating this week. Too much rich food!

Julie Congrats on Step works, I really like that one. I don't have Step Fit but I need to get it. I'm glad to hear tha tyou liked Boot Camp too! Those squat thrust climbers feel like they go on for a lot more than a minute, don't they?! You just amaze me getting up at 3:30, that is so impressive!
I set one of my New Year's goals to be able to do 40 pushups on my toes by the end of the year so that is going to keep me going with them for awhile at least! I've decided that I need to start increasing the total number as I am able to do more on my toes. I have just been doing the rest up to 40 on my knees, so yesterday I did 41 and today 42. We'll see if that makes any difference.
I love the way you described DWP, so accurate!

This morning was supposed to be a 40 minute steady state run and weights and plates abs. Since I don't like to run I did Mindy's Down and Dirty step and then the weights and plates. My sister gave me some gliding discs and they are so much nicer than the box tops that I had been using! That is one tough ab workout but I was able to do the whole thing so I was happy. I did get an extended rest in the plate section though because I accidentally hit the stop button on the remote so had to fast forward from the beginning to where I was! I think that probably helped me get through it! I also did 28 pushups on my toes. I did them before abs since I knew I would never make it after all of the plate work.
So I haven't come up with any great name ideas. Cheryl had suggested the 3 amigos when there were only 3 of us, so we could be just the amigos. Or maybe NMM (no more martinis! ;) I'm not making that resolution though!) That's all I've got so far! Have a great Tuesday!

Pam

Well I could not get up at 4 a.m. this morning so I did my workout after dinner. It was supposed to be a 40 minute steady state run but since I am like Pam and don't run I substituted Athletic Step. I hadn't done that one in a while so it felt like a new workout.

Janie I am glad that your back is feeling better. When your back hurts it can prevent you from doing things. Those levitation holds are hard. I can get the butt off the ground but not the legs . I think the dogs do like the attention and treats that you give them. If they do come back tomorrow try just petting them and see what they do. I am sure they would still come back because they are still getting attention.

Julie It is easy to get some of the names of the workouts mixed up because some have similiar names. I am with you in it being hard to get up early again, that is why I slept in and did my workout in the evening instead. Those squat thrust climbers are tough aren't they. They kill me every time. The January rotation does look hard. The double workouts and the 2 Body Max workouts in one week are going to be hard. I will probably have to split them up on each day.

Pam Sorry I forgot to say that I did the ab work yesterday instead of today. Since DWP is a short workout I thought I would add the abs on. I didn`t do the weights and plates workout because my plates don`t slide well on my puzzle mats. I need to get the gliding disks that your sister gave you it will make things much easier. Good job on your 28 pushups. Ha Ha no more martinis.......you are a funny girl :p.

Today when I was out at lunch and went to a bookstore. When I was leaving I walked right past John Furlong (he was in charge of the 2010 Olympics). I thought about talking to him but I chickened out

Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Cheryl

Today's workout was cardio and I did Power Max for 40 min. Getting in a routine nice and easy. Will do more once my body gets more acclimated.

Get your thinking caps on, it looks like we need a new name for our group. Let's hear it!

Thinking, Thinking: How about "Vigorously Effective", kinda positive, don't you think? I looked up strong in the dictionary and it said that. We are a strong group.

Ok, so far we have Amigos, NMM or Vigorously Effective. We need at least one idea from each of us. Come on.:D

Julie, Great job on Boot Camp and a Wonderful job on Step Works. You are awesome to wake up at 3:30 am. Just remember to get enough rest for the next day.;)

Pam, I've noticed that the double workouts are once a week. That will definitely confuse the body to react the way we all want it to. Have to take my hat off to Cathe for that rotation. It makes me think I want to double up on a workout once a week, most likely Saturday. Modifying the workouts and splitting them up is a great way to make it workable. Also there is no rule to change things around to make it fit your personality. Great job on Down and Dirty Step and weights and plates abs. Joey and I have wood flooring and use paper plates. They work amazingly well. Gliders do look nice though. 28 push ups on toes, wow! You are sure getting stronger with them. Well done! NMM? LOL:eek:, you are too funny.

Cheryl
, Great job on Athletic Step. Nothing wrong in replacing different exercises. It makes it doable. I can't blame you for not wanting to get up before the chickens. Speaking of chickens, you should have talked to John Furlong! Awe, (((hugs to ya))). I'll do that, only pet them the next time they come around. Thank you for the encouragement. Would you like to include another idea in the name of our group?

Have a great evening everyone,

Janie

This morning was Maximum Intensity Strength. I think I strained my left outer glute muscle. I was really having a hard time doing lunges and reverse lunges during the workout. Hopefully I can work on stretching out tonight.

Pam That’s great that you substituted something you enjoy for the run. No matter how much I try I still can’t get into running. I just don’t know how people do it. 28 pushups on your toes is awesome! I told you would catch me in no time! I really need to get back to doing them but I still just don’t have the urge!

Cheryl Great job on substituting for the run. I am like you and Pam, just can’t run. I try and try but just don’t like it. I am blaming the squat thrust climbers on my strained left hiney! I don’t know if they are the reason but I like the idea of blaming them since they were my least favorite part of Boot Camp!

Janie Great job on Power Max. That was really smart listening to your body and stopping early because you needed to. Alright I am not very creative but I will put out a suggestion anyway. How about “Working it Out” or “Healthy and Fit”. I was trying to work on something with strong or strength in the name but you already got one so I will save my brain power for something else. Best I could come up with was “Power Women”.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone!

Cheryl I don't blame you for not being about to get up at 4 am. Anything before 5 is very hard for me! I was doing 4:30 for awhile and would take Wednesday as my day off to have a sleep in day mid week. I was so happy when I didn't have to drive to High School any more, that meant I got to sleep in another half hour! I almost did Athletic Step as my sub for the run too! It was what I was planning on but then decided to do a non-Cathe workout for a change of pace.
I'm the same as you with th levitation holds. Only the butt comes off the ground. I've been trying to at least lift one foot too but I don't see ANY way both feet are ever coming off that ground!
The gliding discs definitely work a lot better than the box tops I was using. I had tried paper plates but they didn't slide on my carpet at all. I saw that a lot of people use the furniture movers instead of the gliding discs because they are a lot cheaper.
I probably would have been afraid to talk to John Furlong too. I was sitting right beside some actor once on a plane but I didn't realize it. I can't remember who it was now, but I talked to him to ask him if he would mind changing seats with my girlfriend so we could sit together :D He switched with her and then when all of these people were getting on the plane and recognizing him and saying something to him I felt a little silly. I still preferred sitting with my friend though :p

Janie Great job on Power max AND being smart enough not to over do it! That can be tough sometimes.
You guys are obviously much better at the names than I am, the only other one I came up with is another silly one - the Toilet Testers :p
I do like the once a week double up idea, I'll see how it goes though since it takes a lot of time!
The paper plates did not work on my carpet at all. I also tried plastic plates since they seem to be a lot like the gliding discs but they didn't work either. I ended up taking the tops off a couple of our board games and that actually worked pretty well. The real things definitely work better though! I would have gone to Bed Bath an Beyond and gotten some of the furniture movers if my sister hadn't given me her gliding discs. She got them a couple of years ago and has never used them. Now she isn't able to exercise that agressively due to her health issues, so I was happy that she gave them to me!

Julie MIS is LONG and tough, sorry to hear about your glute muscle. Ouch, I hope it is feeling better soon. I think I would blame those squat thrust climbers too!
I think I'm only catching you on the push ups because you haven't been doing them, but that's ok, I'll take it  Are you saying that you HAD the urge to do pushups before? I have never had the urge to do pushups! I give myself a little pep talk before I start them every day

I kind've like Power Women. Of course that made me think of that super hero (Wonder Woman?)

Helen How are you doing this week? Have you been continuing with your fitness fest?

This morning for me was STS Total body and only 23 pushups on my toes, even though I did them first. The workout about killed me today. The last thing was supermans and when we finished I just collapsed on the floor and stayed there for a couple of minutes! I was happy to be finished! I was thinking it was just under an hour, not just over an hour. I am still supposed to do a 30 minute brisk walk at some point today too, probably after work. I just hope I don't forget. Have a great Wednesday ladies!

Pam

Brainstorming for new names. Keep in mind that I haven't trolled around to see what names are in use...Here's what I came up with.

"Strength in Numbers" ??
"A Moving Target is Harder to Hit" ??

Our fitness fest continues. Yesterday we did MMA Fusion and today was Meso 2 #17 Legs. Holy cow, did I feel it! I was eyeballing my 40 pound dumbbells (I have hardly ever used them) and considered them for the dumbbell squats, but sent with 35's instead. I might dust off the 40's for next time, but my, oh, my, I will be feeling this later tonight and certainly tomorrow. My daughter hung in there, too, and did a great job. I am really going to miss her being by my side when she goes back to school this weekend. :( But I am so grateful for the few weeks we've had. :) I think we have CCC on tomorrow's schedule.

I am tightening up my nutrition. I feel like I obsess about food sometimes. I am hoping to just, one day, be able to eat what I NEED to eat when I need to eat it and not obsess over how many calories, fat content, etc. and just KNOW that the food is fueling me properly.

Oh, and NMM for me, too. :)

Janie: I hope you and your canine neighbors can come to an understanding.

Pam: Great job on your pushups!

Hello to all the other ladies! I need to hit the shower...I smell ripe.

:DHelen

Well I was going to do my workout tonight again but I had a meeting that ran late today which meant I was late getting home from work. When I was walking home from the bus it felt like it was 8 at night instead of only 5. So needless to say I was too pooped to do my weight work. So I have now set my alarm for 4 a.m. to make sure I get it done tomorrow. The next two days could be late ones as well.

Janie Good for you in only doing a portion of Power Max. It is good to slowly get back into a routine. I am trying to think up another name but I am drawing a blank . I have always been bad at that. I figured that if I did speak to John Furlong I would have sounded like a dork .

Julie MIS is one of my first Cathe workouts. I got good results with that one. I used to run years ago and I loved it, but my back started giving my problems and it wasn't fun anymore. I used to do a lot of 10Ks and 1/2 marathons and was getting into trail running. Yes you can blame those squat thrust climbers for your strained left hiney. They are a killer.

Pam Those 4 a.m. workouts are a killer but sometimes I feel really good after it is done. I have taken Wednesday as my day off too, it doesn't seem so bad if you only have to do it for two days in a row. So weird that you almost did Athletic Step too. Haven't we done that once before.....I think it was Step Works, it wasn't on the rotation but we both decided to do it? I have heard about the furniture movers too. Right now I have the plastic plates and they move OK on my puzzle mats but I need something better. Umm was he a famous actor? Funny that you didn't recognize him until people started talking to him. So was he sitting in coach or were you lucky enough to be in 1st class?

Helen You are having a fitness fest. 35's are still really good with the squats. I just got some 35's but I haven't had a chance to use them yet. Your daughter is going to be in great shape when she goes back to school. I sometimes obsess about food especially when I am trying to get back into eating clean. Eventually it does become second nature and you don't obsess about it as much. I am trying to get back to that point.

Have a great Thursday everyone.

Cheryl

Joey has a cold so we did TBS. Surprise! We used heavier weight.

We have some great names to replace our group.
Now, all we have to do is vote for our new name. Here is the list:

I guess I'll start first: I like "Working It Out" by Julie.

Amigos
No More Martinis
Vigorously Effective
Working It Out (1)
Health & Fit
Power Women
The Toilet Testers
Strength In Numbers
A Moving Target Is Harder To Hit

I'll keep a tally going, and whatever title gets the most votes, will be our new name. Good Luck.

Julie, O my, MIS is such a hard DVD. Good for you for getting it done. Using a roller on the glute muscles will help, along with stretching.

Pam, I think I would like to get the sliding discs. It's just better. Great job on STS TB and 23 pushups on your toes. I think that's so awesome.

Helen, Great job on MMA Fusion yesterday and today's Meso 2 legs. This one is a challenge, I'm sure you will feel it tomorrow and the next day. Yeah, for your daughter. I bet you will miss her.:(

Janie

Well my glute is feeling a lot better today, not 100%, but better! I was going to do Rhythmic Step today but Jason stayed home this morning because he wasn’t feeling good. So I decided to be nice and substitute something that would be a little quieter then a step workout. I did Cardio Kicks today. Always a fun one!

Pam Great job on STS Total Body and your 23 pushups! I have had moments like that when at the end of a long workout after the ab section I just lay there for awhile while Cathe talks about taking a nice stretch. Sometimes I even say “Just a minute” out loud. Good thing no one is home to hear me talking to the TV! Toilet Testers!!! That is hilarious! I would so be in favor of that and I bet we get a lot of people reading the posts just to figure out what the name means!

Helen Ooh, I like the names you suggested! Great job on MMA Fusion and STS! I am with you all the way on obsessing over food. I wish I could intuitively eat as well but it just doesn’t last long. Right now I feel like I have to obsess over my food to get off the holiday weight I gained. Here’s to hoping that one day we won’t need to count every morsel of food that goes in our mouths!

Cheryl Sorry you weren’t able to get your workout in after work. Hopefully you were able to get up this morning and get it done. It was really hard for me to get up early in the beginning to work out. Now I have been doing it for almost a year so I don’t even think twice about it. Plus it does help that most of the time, Jason is getting up before me or at the same time so I don’t have to get out of bed and see him still snoozing away.

Janie Great job on TBS even though Joey has a cold. When I had a cold in the Fall, doing weight workouts was nice since it was hard to breathe during cardio workouts. I stretched my glute a lot last night but totally forgot about my foam roller until I was already in bed trying to go to sleep. I may use it tonight to work out the last little kinks. Hmm! If I have to vote for a name (so hard to choose), I would say “Strength in Numbers” would be my first choice and “Working it Out” would be my second.

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Helen I like Strength in Numbers. When I first looked at these I thought you had spelled Hit Hiit as a play on the word, which I liked too
Great job on your fitness fest! You are really going to miss your daughter during your workouts next week :( It's great that you two have had this time together though. I can't wait to hear what she has to say about CCC!
I find that I obsess about food when I am trying to eat right or cut back so instead I normally don't worry so much about what I eat and instead focus on not eating large portions. That is what works for me.

Cheryl Worry to hear you weren't able to get your workout in last night. That is the problem I always had with evening workouts. Something would come up that made me later than planned and then I just wouldn't have the energy to do it. It is so hard right now with it getting dark so early too, it always feels so much later than it really is! I was supposed to do a brisk walk after work yesterday but I just didn't feel like it because it was dark and cold and I was out of energy.

You're right, we did both pick Step Moves one day out of the blue. I can't even remember who the actor was, but he was here playing in a celebrity golf tournament. I guess he wasn't famous enough for me to recognize him though :) And yes, I was lucky enough to be sitting in first class for that trip. When I was travelling overseas a lot we were still able to fly business class and they would put you in first for the domestic portions of the trip. No more business class for anyone flying anywhere these days though. ANother reason I'm glad I'm not travelling anymore!

Janie Sorry to hear about Joey's cold, I hope he is feeling better soon!. Good job on his favorite TBS though!

My favorite names are Working it out and Strength in numbers. I'm not sure I prefer one over the other.

Julie Glad to hear that your glute is starting to feel better. Those darn squat thrust climbers!! Great job on Cardio Kicks. I really like that one, and I don't like kickboxing! It was very thoughtful of you to choose a quieter workout too. I hope Jason is feeling better soon!
I talk to Cathe sometimes when I'm working out too. Especially when she gets her weight changed too fast on the barbell and I'm not ready yet! I don't know how she changes it so fast sometimes!

Speaking of the toilet test, I am SOOO going to be failing it today. I just ache all over. Cathe wasn't kidding when she called it Total Body STS because now I have total body DOMS! AND, it's in the rotation again for Saturday! To top it off, I had to do Intensity today after hardly being able to drag myself out of bed. I made it through it ok though and did 25 pushups afterwards to boot. Now I just have to watch my water intake all day so that I don't have to do that toilet test too often  Anyway, have a great Thursday ladies!

Pam
