I am trying the ON thing you suggested Janie, we'll see how it goes... it certainly does help to put everything in order !! Never even noticed this option before. I am quite new to the forum.
Eunice, putting weights in a backpack is an excellent idea, I will have to try that!. You are probably right about the grip, I noticed a difference in a week. And when you see Cathe go around with those 40 pounders, you see it's possible. I am far from pretending I am as good as Cathe (farrrrrrrrrr), but I tend to think that if she can do it, well, so can I, some day, with work, and a lot of effort....... Anyway, in the mean time, I ordered Versa Gripps last night from Ebay. I ordered the Fit kind. I hope I will like them!
It looks like a few of you are 2 days ahead of me in the rotation, which is great for me, I can see a bit ahead what awaits me, it's like my own personal crystal ball! You must have started the rotation on the 4th of January, I started on the 6th. I wanted to start on the 4th, but had been snowboarding for the first time the previous week and still could not stand being on my knees (for the pushups, what else) on the 4th!!! I had to wait a couple of days.
Great tip for building resistance for pushups - I will try the plank with a weight on my back too!
Janie - I'm glad you are feeling better, there's nothing more frustrating than feeling under the weather, speaking of which, where do you live? Weather allowing you a hike today. My husband is a hiking addict. My husband is English and we hiked A LOT when we lived in England. He has walked England North to South, East to West and vice-versa several times. We are thinking of going to do part of the Appalachian Trail this Summer...
I won't get rid of my equipment - Anythink like that would be sold at a big loss anyway. Come February, a lot of people have given up on the New Year's Resolutions and the papers are full of workout equipment!
I do have a great job, and I had my permanency last Summer, so I better like it, cause I could be here for the next decades (one of my colleagues is 85 years old!!!!).
How is insanity? Do you recommend it? I think the people from the ad look a bit weird, almost difformed..... scares me a bit.
Peiger - I will make my Avatar picture a more recent one, so it's more accurate. I took the picture on my profile from Facebook too, you just need to SAVE PICTURE AS on your desktop and then put it on your profile or avatar. By the way, the first time I tried 40/20 is told Cathe out loud that she was crazy (yes, I talked to the picture on the television and told it SHE was crazy!). I think we all were taken by surprise by HiiT. Frankly, as I said before, the whole time, I was thinking: it's only a few seconds, it's only a few seconds, it's only a few seconds....... Obviously seconds turn into minutes, and minutes turn into whole workouts! As far as I'm concerned, if you can do HiiT, you are in very good shape, I don't care what anybody says about home workouts, they don't have a clue until they try those!
Pumper - I would not be able to teach elementary school, such big classes, so many different things to teach, and all of that control you have to have on the kids, hats up to you! My classes are a max of 10 students, they are adults and military (I always have the threat of the Squadron Commander - but I never have to use it, they know better).
Good job on pushing yourself, it's mind over matter - or shall we say, mind over body?
Oh - and I have noticed about restaurant menus! I have been VERY frustrated in the past having to ask my husband to read the menu for me, because it was printed in a silly curvy character in font size 4, with the dimmest light over my head! I actually remember mentionning it the waitress... Nice way to make us feel old!
Diane15 - I do the same with the MMA workouts (except Fusion) - I hold 1pd dumbbells in my hands to increase the intensity (I don't own weighted gloves - they are on my never ending, always increasing, workout equipment to acquire).
I teach French at the college. The cadets have to have a certain level of bilingualism to graduate (there are 4 pillars at the college - bilingualism, fitness, academic degree, and military). Thanks! Tristan is turning 7 next week, big birthday party at the house tomorrow, I hope he likes it! (For the pushups, I have Ilaria Montagnani's Pushups and Abs DVD, but have never tried it, too scared, but I will by the end of this 3 months rotation!)
You can wrap your ankle weights around your waist???? Wow!
PGeiger - My cat, George, get on the desk and rubs against the computer - the problem is I have the HP Touch computer, so every time his tail touches the screen, my mouse goes wild, Cat and mouse chase!
As for workouts, yesterday was my rest day, but I didn't want to rest, I felt energetic, and I am officially workout adrenaline addicted! So I did Imax 2 for the first time since before I started the rotation (it's one of my favourites). Imax 2 is actually the first Cathe workout I ever bought nearly 2 years ago, and I remember cursing at Cathe as well the first times I did it, saying she was out her mind - I had to pause after the blasts... I ran a half-marathon for fun shortly after (I'm not a runner, a friend registered Phil and I without telling us, nice surprise ). Anyway, I did the race 2 days after spending 2 weeks in Europe, and didn't run very fast, but didn't do too badly (2:24 min). I'd be curious to see how I would do now, cause Imax 2 was a walk in the park yesterday!
Today is Athletic Step, love that one too.
Again, enough babbling - the ON thingy works very well Janie!
Have a great Friday
Sandra
