Lifting like girls

The soup was delicious. Just hit the spot, so I'm having it again, tonight. Just finished upper body push workout. Tomorrow is my leg day. Yes, I too hope you are well, Tom. I hope it was a no shot check-up. Everybody was miserable on shot day. G'day all! My weekend begins, NOW!

Karen, stop rubbing it in about the soup, would ya? ;) Great UB workouts for you . How did legs go today? Sadly there was one shot for my DD yesterday . She starts to cry when she sees the nurse pull out the alcohol swab. Poor thing. At least they bribed her with a rubber turtle toy.

Today was Vertical Loading Live (11/3/16). Sooooo fun , Karen you would enjoy this except for the upright rows (I thought you said you avoid these). Great muscle burn with cardio factor and fun factor.

TGIF. I am sooooo feeling the need for a weekend . Too bad it's gonna be full of moving into the rental house busyness.

Today was leg day. My favorite exercises. Glute thrusts, 45 degree back extensions. Squats, and front squats. Front squats have become one of my favorites. I never thought I would say that. But, they burn so good.
Lisa, Vertical Loading Live, sounds like a good one. Another one to add to my list. And yes, upright rows, sometimes feel a bit tweaky. Definitely can't go too heavy. I hope moving day comes, and goes without too much stress. Tom, Lib hope you are well. A big hello, to Justine, Roz, and Melissa. We miss all of you! Please come say hi!!

Karen, who are you?!?! A new love for pull-ups? Front squats are your favorites? Wowza. You go girl. Thanks for the well wishes for our moving. We've taken a gazillion loads over this past week, and we're going to finish up everything we can this weekend. Then on Monday movers come to take the rest. We're doing so much ourselves because the rental is less than a mile from our old house so it's not too bad but believe you me that professional movers are going to do 100% of the work when we move into our new house (hopefully late spring).

Needed to punch out my aggression today so did Kickboxing and Compound Weights Live (12/4/14). I've done this one probably 10 times. love it.

Tom, hope you're well. What Karen said--we miss everyone! Even a brief hello is always welcome! Happy weekend!

Hey friends, got home last night and leaving about noon to head to Minn for routine med stuff, but enough time to get in an arm and ab w/o! Again tri set supersets, skc/dumbbell curls, tri pushdowns/hammer curls, and kickbacks/ez bar curls. I finished with 2x50 crunches and 1x30 cable crunches. The ony thing I got to do in Arkansas was planks, but better than nuttin! Hope everyone had a safe and fun weekend and hopefully this election will ACTUALLY BE DONE!!! Have a terrific Sunday all!

Internet has been down. Finally back up. Ordered Core de Force, did the first one today. I like it a lot. A lot of strikes, kicks, knees, and elbows, so twisting a lot. Feel it in my core.

hope everyone is well.

Two weeks until thanksgiving break, then a week until finals. I cannot wait for this semester and this year to end.

Tom, you just can't sit still, can you? Always jetting around from one place to another. Hope you enjoyed your rest from Commando land in Arkansas and hope all goes well on your next journey.

Lib, oooh Core de Force! I think that one looks super. Definitely a great mid section toner, at least that's what it looks like from the video clips I've seen. Best o luck to you finishing out the semester. I remember those days, the countdown to Thanksgiving and then the countdown to finals and Christmas break. Take care and you've got this.

Karen, what's up? We should call you the Chief Commando Ski Bunny. My ideal trip to the east coast is to tour all the sites, go to a spa, eat some good food, see a show. You want to go bust your a$$ on the ski slopes. I bow to your greatness!

Today I did Smokin Upper Body Live (7/28/16). This is the second time I've done this one and let me tell you it's MUCH better to do this on a Monday. Last time I did it after a leg day which was a major stupid rookie mistake. Today was much more fun and successful. Off to the craziness of Monday!

A big hey to everybody!! Today was my first day of deloading. Very easy, so I added Mark Lauren. Yes Lisa, my idea of a good time, is a day on the slopes. No bowing required. That's just me. That Smokin Upper Body Live, sounds so good. Maybe this weekend.
Enjoy Minnesota, Tom. Quite the jet setter, you. "Then you flew your Lear Jet to Nova Scotia, to see the total eclipse of the sun." Anybody but me, remember that little tune? "You're so Vain." by Carly Simon. Popular before most of you were born.
I agree Core de Force does look pretty interesting. My core would thank me. Lib, like Lisa said, "you've got this!"
Wishing you all a great evening!

Karen. We may be the only ones who remember that one!! Great song, but no Lear here! Good check up, the nurse practioner was impressed with the guns. She routinely checks strength as part of the physical and she while she was checking arm strength, she was touching my arm and had to roll my sleeve up and have a look. Unusual for people with polymyositis, especially at my age, I guess, to build muscle. Thank you ladies for your motivation and keeping my nose to the grindstone! Today I did chest ( sort of) still really no bench but did 150 reps of rom isos. Next supersetted chins and deadlifts, 3 sets each, and 1 set of dumbell curls, 1 set tri pushdowns, 5 min of planks, and 1x50 cable crunches. Ended up a little is several things. A Karen deload is like a killer w/o for us mortals! Lisa, good to know you are wiser at such a young age!! Children improve our IQ!! Have a great Tuesday ladies!

Ugh, sick in my stoma because it's election day. Kept trying to pretend it was all just a nightmare, but no. I voted by mail last week so nothing more that I can do.

Tom, did you tell the nurse that you were giving her a backstage pass to the gun show? You've worked hard for those muscles . I admire your grit and determination .

Karen, sounds like you will have time to play this week since you are deloading. I highly recommend Vertical Loading Live and Legs on Fire Live, if you have any interest.

Karen, Tom, I know that Carly Simon song because I listen to the oldies rock station. ;)

Last night was the first night in the rental house. Major adjusting for all of us. I have a dedicated workout space here but it's not even remotely great. I just keep reminding myself of the workout room we are building into the new house. Today I did Total Body Cardio and Weights Live. it's definitely going to be a hodge podge week for me because of the new set up.

Good evening, everyone. Today was my deload leg day. I love leg day, however, I wanted to do something different. So I did Anthony Diluglio's Firepower, a great kettlebell workout. I'm dripping.
Oldies, yea I heard it!! And, it's probably true. When my mother was my age, I thought she looked so old. But, I guess the greatest generation had a few more trials. My parents lived through the depression, and my dad was a Marine in the Pacific during WWII. But, my mother never did any kind of exercise. I think exercise keeps us young. So, I wear my "oldness" with pride. I'm just giving you a hard time, Lisa. I know you meant no disrespect. So, are you all moved in to the rental? It's always such a pain, trying to get your groove going again, with new surroundings.
Tom, glad you had an A-1 checkup. Always good news. What are you up to, Lib? Keep on, keeping on, everyone. Talk tomorrow!!

Karen, Tom, you two are so fun. I think you are warriors and you will be able to kick my a$$ well into your 90's. You rock. I agree, Karen, that the previous generation had to "rough it" more than younger generations have. Plus they didn't know anything about exercise and they had TV commercials with doctors telling you to go smoke Phillip Morris cigarettes. Eek!

Karen, I've never heard of Anthony Diluglio. I've read a lot about kettlebell work on Girls Gone Strong. It looks amazing and so effective. I just haven't gotten up the gumption to invest in any of the equipment yet. Plus the learning curve intimidates me, not gonna lie. We're working on settling into the rental, thanks for asking. We signed the sale papers on our "old" house yesterday. We've been married for many years but it was our first home. Before that we'd lived in apartments and student housing...yeah, we spent wayyyyy too many years in school. It was a great first home but I'm ready to move on to the new place. You know the saying, hurry up and wait. Yep that's what I'm doing.

Tom, what up?

Lib, hi, hope you're surviving the final stretches!

Today I did more hodge podge with Gloved Up and Ready Live (2/4/16). I really need to do a leg workout because I've been killing my UB. I just haven't slept well enough to be able to muster legs!

Good Wednesday to you all!

Well, another deload day. So I added Mark Lauren. I'm so glad this election business is over. However, they're still talking about it. My radio is permanently off, and I only watch Netflix now. I can't take any more. I think I'm going to bed for a week. Someone wake me when it's ALL over.
Anthony Diluglio, is the first Kettlebell workout I bought. It's still a goody. I haven't kept up with him, but he owned a little KB studio in Providence, Rhode Island. For some reason it's hard to find his DVDs now. But, I always liked them, full of variety.
I'm very familiar with hurry up and wait. We've built a couple of houses, and that just seems to be the way it works.

Tom and Lib, what's up?

DH got his flu shot today, along with a shingles shot. Now, he's trying to talk me into getting a shingles shot. My wild adventure with the flu shot, has put me off on all shots for awhile. But, he tells me I definitely don't want shingles. Ya think? I dunno, I'm not convinced, yet.

That's all she wrote for now. Have a good evening, all!

Good Morning Ladies! Karen, I had shingles...no fun! I recommend it too...husband thing! Boy, are you right about the elections...sick of all of it. I stayed up until 2 Tues so, needless to say, I tanked Wed workout. Today I hit shoulders or tried to, starting with militaries, 4 sets, but as it got heavier I had to quit,,not sure Iwill ever be able to do these or bench again. I did 3 sets of side laterals/ front raise, 3 sets of rear delt flys and 3 sets of heavy shrugs. For abs I did 2 heavy sets of cable crunches and dropped the oly bar to 65 and did 1x20 militaries to finish off shoulders. If I keep it light its not terrible, but when it gets heavier "taint good". Lisa, I understand the nostalgia. We built our house in 1978, and I know someday we will need to clean it out and move but the thought of trying to sort thru 40 years of accumulated stuff is scary! Our kids said that if we die before that gets done they are going to pull up lawn chairs in the driveway, throw a match and watch her go!!! Guess they don't want the cleanout job! Moving is terrible and I feel for you! Hang in there! Have a great day ladies!

Oh yea, 40 years of stuff. I can relate. It would be easier to throw a match. Eventually we will move to something smaller, as well. Not looking forward to that. Moving is terrible, but not quite as bad for us. We have moved several times in 40 years. Every time there was a clean out. Well, kinda. I'm at the point now, where I just want everything gone. Except my gym.

OMG, I totally know what you mean! Throw the matches on the clutter and watch it burn! My DD's grandparents were the world's worst hoarders. As in a basement so full of stuff you couldn't walk around, instead you stepped over boxes and crap all over the floor. My personal favorite was their bookshelf full of empty Cheerios boxes, and each Cheerios box had a year's worth of TV guides or some other magazine stuffed in them, going back to the 60s or so. Could've been worth something if they weren't in such horrible shape. Ugh! Since we have to move AGAIN to the new place in 6 months or so, my #1 agenda item is to declutter even more. Christmas is going to be minimal. It's OK anyway because my DDs have more fun doing the activities than getting the 'stuff.' Give them hot chocolate and Christmas lights and they're happy. Like you , Karen, all I want is my gym! :)

What I want to know is why is everyone still talking about the election on TV? Every real life person I meet is so so so over it!!!! Enough already! I stayed up late on Tuesday night too. That was it, no more! Lots of rants from me today.

Tom, way to work those shoulders. Nice job.

Karen, agree with Tom and your DH--get that shingles shot! That's on my to-do list too. Another nice deload workout for you!

I did it! I actually got in a dedicated leg workout. Today was Rock Bottoms and Core Live (7/21/16). Second time doing this one. I should do it more often. It's like Great Glutes because it kills the booty but it's even more fun because it's a Live workout.

Today was another Anthony Diluglio KB workout, Newport. Very good KB workout.
You talked me into it. I'm going tomorrow for a shingles shot. Blech! But, my DH told me about a friend of his that had shingles years ago. Said he wouldn't wish it on anybody.

Another Live to add to my list. Rock Bottoms and Core. Sounds good. Lisa, I hear ya about the hoarder crap. My BIL parents, (sister's husband) had a bedroom full of old newspapers. They must have gone back to WWII. That house would have gone up in a New York minute, if anyone was unfortunate enough to drop a match. Would never have made it to the front door. OMG!!! I don't know who cleaned it out when the died. But, what a task. Different strokes, I guess.

So Tom, tell me about your shoulder tweak. Was it just all of a sudden, or has it been going wonky for awhile. What a pain in the arse. Every once in awhile my tennis elbow, or whatever it is, starts acting up, and puts heavy bicep curls on the back burner. Hope it starts behaving itself soon.

It is officially my weekend, now. Hope you all enjoy yours!! Talk tomorrow!

Hey Ladies! Karen, hope you are surviving the shingles shot. I think my shoulder issue is chronic, I have had trouble for years. When I did the body for life program I had to use dumbbells, couldn't use a straight bar, but it really improved the last few years and I could bench. The ortho guys say I have a narrowed space and spurs that rub the rotator cuff, haven't really been able to throw a football for years. I hope another window of good times shows up, but probably surgery some day...no hurry on my part! Doesn't really cause trouble except bench and press. Lisa, I think sometimes my house is like DD's grandparents! So much crap, so little time...or motivation. I agree on the gym, ready to fire everything else! Today I actually did LEGS! A bunch of bench squats at 45, 115, 165, 185, 205, 225, 205, 185, 165. Higher the weight the shorter the count, only a double at 225 and that seemed too much! Straight leg deads at 205 (not very flexible so not much rom but killed me just the same) 2 sets static lunges, 2 sets 1 leg deads with a kb,2 sets barbell calf raises, 2 sets single calf raises with a kb and 2 sets with 0 weight and finished with 2 sets cable crunches. I'm just about as happy that leg day is done than happy election day is done...not quite but almost! Make Friday great again...what??? too much tv! lol

Go Karen, go Karen! Get your shingles shot! Go Karen! Just hope you did it after today's workout so you could still lift those weights! You are on a roll with those KB workouts. Probably a good thing during deload week to get some mileage out of the programs that get pushed to the side during your other training regimens. It justifies the investment, am I right? Let us know when you've done one of the new Donavanik workouts.

Tom, I hear ya on wanting to delay surgery. I'm a big believer in working around the pain, as in doing alternative exercises or other things that don't hurt, in lieu of going under the knife. So often it just doesn't help like it should. I had a dear friend who underwent knee replacement surgery on each knee...TWICE. So, yeah, do the math. 4 knee surgeries and it never ever got better. Kudos for getting your leg workout in. Are you wearing a big bright red hat today that says Make Friday Great Again!?!?!

I needed me some good old fashioned steady state cardio, no weights in hand, so I did Step On It Live (7/16/15). Done and done. See you all tomorrow!
