Lifting like girls

Yup, Monday again! Lats and bi's here, 3 sets of chins, pullovers and pulldowns followed by 3 sets dumbbell curls, hammer curls and ez bar curls, then added 3 sets lighter dumbbell curls and 1 set conc curls, and finished with 30 cable crunches. I did lighten the dumbbell curls stuff and had some trouble with range of motion on the left, but wasn't smart enough to not push it and will probably pay the price! I did the extra bi things to compensate for going lighter...not smart but seemed to make sense at the time! Ladies...rev your engines, it's Monday! On the bright side, turkey awaits us! Have a great week start!

Good evening all!!
Today was the start of week 2 of Re-De.Mostly chest and tricep work. Then I did a kettlebell and bodyweight circuit, 5 rounds. Mountain climbers, KB swings, renegade rows, one leg RDL and see-saw presses. Thirty seconds work, and 15 seconds rest. It was a nice little workout.
Yes, turkey day is just around the corner. I saw a couple of turkeys heading out of town today. Not taking any chances. Don't want to be constantly looking over their shoulder. They're still looking for uncle Harry. He was waiting for a presidential pardon, no such luck. Let's meet at Starbucks tomorrow, I'll buy! Till then, G'day!

Hey Commansos! Off day for me today. Really been out of my groove since Saturday afternoon , came down with what Karen calls the dreaded Gombu (did I spell that right Miss K?) Not the flu, just a nasty cold, but still...

Nothing on my end. Tom, I wouldn't bail you out but I might represent you pro bono. One Commando helping another! Hope you didn't overdo it with the curls today. No pain please.

Karen, Starbucks with you anytime, and I would even provide a complimentary turkey to sweeten the deal! I am huffing and puffing just thinking about your homemade 30/15 workout. Yeesh!

Really half arsed a leg day. but did do one! 3 sets light squats, 2 sets gob squats, 2 sets static lunges, 2 sets 1 leg deads, 3 sets barbell calf raises and 2 sets single calf raises....not proud here, but done. wasn't in the tank, almost no sleep last nite, don't know why but just happens sometimes. Hope y'all have better w/os!

Forgot to add, those rom Isos between bench sets RE ALLY worked....definite doms! Never was able to go very heavy, but those 20 reps of contractions with resistance between each set was brutal...loved it! Just some optimism to offset a pathetic leg day!!

Tom, I phoned it in today too. Wanted to do something but still under the weather plus had a horrible sleep. I did Time saver Step Grooves Live from last Thursday. I thought it was great but my Internet connection kept freezing, which NEVER happens since we have a mighty speed and bandwidth (thanks to my engineer DH). I am wondering if the Live site was overloaded with streaming viewers since it's a holiday week , so people are off work, etc, working out at later times of the morning. Hope I don't have this problem tomorrow !

Commando Friends! Today was leg day!!! Sumo squats, front squats, glute ham raises (these are still killer) smith machine calf raises. Then I did a KB, bodyweight workout, 30 seconds work, 15 seconds rest. 1. Clean & Press, 2. Forearm Plank, 3.1 Hand Swing R/L, 4. Side PlankR/L, 5. Quad Press. 5 rounds. I love this stuff.
Tomorrow is a virtual half day for me. Leaving work at 2:00, coming home to brine my turkey.
Have a great tomorrow, all. Lisa, hope you're feeling better. I hate colds, when I feel miserable, the world knows it. I don't do illness very well. Furthermore, what is it with the sleeping? I haven't been sleeping well at all. I will be checking in tomorrow. But, if not, have a great and safe holiday, everyone!

Best "freakn" Wed EVER!! 41 sets of unbridled enthusiasm (at least till I hit ez bar curls). I started with shoulders and folks,I am a terrible presser, and this has been an effort for a long time. I haven't been able to go heavy because of my right shoulder, but today I PRd my strict press at 145..didnt see that coming but started with the oly bar and just kept going up! I tried 150, but that will have to wait,,,but it is coming. To do these I have to keep a very narrow grip but that seems to take some of the stress off my shoulder. I set 150 as a goal a long time ago, but I was beginning to doubt that I could win the race before old age caught me! I did 11 sets of strict press, 3 sets side laterals, 3 sets rear delt flys, 3 sets front raises and 3 sets shrugs. Next were arms, 3 sets dumbbell curls/ 3 sets tri pushdowns, 3 sets hammer curls/ 3 sets skullcrushers, 3 sets lighter decline curls ( ez bar curls were a no go, I think the skc's and other curls finished the left elbow off)/3 sets of kickbacks. I'm really glad there are NO cameras in my weight room or the world might have seen a "codger dance" after the presses, felt so good to be able to do them and I felt really good that I hadn't lost any strength by not being able to go heavy...hope the same holds true if I can go heavy on bench some day. Off to St. Louis soon, but want to wish you, my friends, a wonderful, tryptophan filled Thanksgiving!!

Karen, I can tell you're having fun with your add-on workouts. You should film them and put them on YouTube! I'd follow along for sure! Yum, brined turkeys are the best. Right there with you on that one. Hope you enjoy your shortened work day and the rest of the week off! And, yeah, my poor DH has to really endure it when I'm sick. I think I'm pretty tough but I've got to let someone know how awful I feel via intense whining! Besides, my real bosses...the girls...couldn't care less that Mommy is sick. No breaks for moms or dads allowed!

Tom, it ain't no "codger dance" when you're celebrating a 145# strict press PR. That's AWESOME! I'd call it a "stud dance" for sure. Something to be thankful for tomorrow, eh? Proud of you.

Yep, what Tom said, have a great and fantastic Thanksgiving tomorrow and a lovely holiday weekend. I'm getting over this nasty bug still but hope to get back into it on Friday. Not sure when I'll be able to check in, but I'm thankful for you friends and how you keep me in line with my fitness routine!

Hi everyone! Just a short note, before we all start feasting. The whole family is here, and it is a madhouse. I'm loving it. We have some snow, and the dogs, and kids are having a blast, chasing and throwing snowballs.(well the dogs aren't throwing snowballs, yet) So, a lot of cooking, and laughing, and footballing for the guys. Have a great day everyone. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Started the week a day early due to a Friday out of town meeting and guilt from doing NADA the last few days. It was chest, tri, ab day and again I did rom isos after each weight set. 10 sets of bench and 10 sets of isos. This really trashes the pecs and allows me to get great work with less weight and hopefully less injury. I did bump up my heaviest set 10# from last week. Sets went from 95-185 and back down and I finished with sets of 15 at 135 and 115. These long sets with the isos really finished me off! Next were tri's, 3 sets of skullcrushers, 3 sets of pushdowns, 3 sets of kickbacks, and finished with abs, crunches x50 30 20, seated knee ins 3x25, 5 minutes of planks, and 3x30 cable crunches. This workout took about 90 minutes and that's long for me! I did ride 1 mile before and after the w/o, may have to try to do some more cardio cause I amost hit 200 this morning....gettin some CHUNK!! Hope the weekend was kind to all!

Lats and bi's. 3 sets chins and a new wrinkle, 1, 30 sec wide grip flexed arm hang..harder than it sounds after chin ups! 3 sets of dumbbell pullovers, 3 sets of wide pulldowns to finish lats. For bi's, 3 sets dumbbell curls, 3 sets hammer curls (had to drop the dumbbells 10# the last 2 sets because the left elbow was really sore) but I could do 3 x10 ez bar curls today...go figure and finished bi's with 1 set of 21's. I officially hit 200# this morning...that's meteoric coming from 164! It's amazing that when you feed your body it will grow, even the elderly!! I have actually put on 2 1/4 inches on my arms, and I think they are bigger than they have ever been....really pumped about that! I know y'all aren't looking to get huge, but, as a guy, we get excited about strange things! Start the week off right my friends!!

Back to reality today. Boo. Sounds like everyone had a great time and had some good eatin'. We had fun here even though I was still sick the whole holiday. Last night was the first night I got a semi-reasonable sleep in about 10 days. It's been awful but I'm finally starting to see the light. So, what did I do to celebrate? LEGS, of course! Lovin' Those Legs Live (5/19/16). This one's a favorite that I've done several times. Felt soooo good to burn out my legs after feeling like crap for so long!

Tom, congrats on your gains! (or should I say gainz? sounds cooler) You've worked for it. Yesterday's 90 minute workout and today's killer probably also had something to do with it! And no, a 30 sec wide grip flexed arm hang does not sound easy on any planet. Seems like those isos are working for you too. I liked what you said about finding ways to work the muscles without increasing the poundage on the barbell. I think there are lots of things we can do to increase strength that don't involve weights at all!

Karen, what's going on for you today? Back to reality? Any more snow for you? We're scheduled to get our first snow this afternoon. Blech (says the non-skiier).

Have a great day, friends.

This is the last week of my re-de, before the de-load. Upper body workout today. then I decided to do an 8 minute KB finisher by Lauren Brooks. Lauren has never been a favorite of mine, however, her Incinerator DVD. Is really pretty good. So that's was about it.
It has been snowing off and on all day today. Nothing is really sticking to the streets, but the commute tomorrow morning is going to be a beast. First (kinda) snowstorm of the year, and everybody forgets how to drive, riding the brakes, and off the road they go. Arrghh! This time of year, can be painful, both mentally, and physically.
That's it, friends. Till tomorrow!

Karen, IKWYM on snow and driver panic. My DH jokes (with sorrow) that the snow always waits to come just in time for the commute. Of course, the drivers here are terrible no matter what the weather! Great workout, way to power through the finisher even though it's not your fave. I saw on the OD board that Lauren Brooks had a holiday DVD sale but I remembered that you didn't care for her stuff so I didn't even bother .

Tom what's up for you today? I think I am going to send some athletic flooring your way so that you have no choice but to do cardio, Lol!

Today I did the cardio segment from Fitness Fusion Live, about 30 mins, then RWH Chest and Tris, the premix with no shoulders. Geez Louise my triceps were struggling today. DOMS coming my way.

Hi everybody!

Today was legs, sumo squats, front squats, glute ham raises, and smith machine calf raises. Another Lauren Brooks KB workout followed. "Intensified."
Tom, how's the cardio going? Is your shoulder behaving? Lisa, your workout room is going to be fabulous!!! Good for you! You will have to post pictures.
Well, we didn't get as much snow, as was expected. But, other cities around got dumped on. The ski resorts have happy owners now.
That's about all for me, today. Have a good one, all!
