Lifting like girls

Got my shingles shot. Today was a Mark Lauren workout.
The weather here is still beautiful. It has been a beautiful Autumn. Temperatures in the sixties, blue skies and sunshine. The grass is still green, my roses are still blooming, and I still have peppers and tomatoes on the vine. We haven't shut down the sprinkler system, or turned on central heating. Usually by Halloween everything has been shut down, and turned on. Loving it!! I'm sure the die hard skiers are losing their minds. But, we will definitely need snow, at least in the mountains, or we won't be able to water our lawns next Summer.
Good for you, Lisa. Feeling steady state cardio, so you did it. Whatever works, right?
Tom, I hope you get that window of good shoulder time. Nothing like twitchy stuff, to bring us down.
I'm glad for the break from weights. My elbow was getting a little tweaky, with the heavy weights.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. Keep active!!

Good Sat morning ladies. Arm day here, skullcrushers 3x15/ dumbbell curls 3x10 tri pushdowns 3x10/ hammer curls 3x10 kickbacks x15 x15 x20/ ez bar curls x8 x8 x11. Hit it hard, hit it heavy, , felt good, old man out!! Lisa, I am "fact checking" that you did cardio...all indicators show that is factual!! Wish I could borrow some of yours lol. Karen, glad you got the shot...shingles can be a life changer depending where the outbreak is and the post herpetic neuralgias can be a b!t@$!! Hope the soreness wasn't too much of an issue. Enjoy you Sat friends!

I had to do it. There was no other option. I needed a full body workout so I did Vertical Loading Live (11/3/16). Again. Something about the sequencing of this weight workout just makes it so fun. And a real heart rate raiser!

Tom, had a heavy day today, huh? Cool! Nothing better than feeling STRONG! Yes, wouldn't it be great if we could "borrow" each other's fitness, like you do some heavy deads and pull ups for me and I'll take the cardio, thank you very much! The other day I told my DH what you told us, that dentists didn't wear gloves on all patients unless they had Hep C until the mid-80s, and let me tell you he was thoroughly disgusted. How did you manage??? How do you manage???

Karen, it's been an amazing Autumn here as well. A bit of rain and wind and few colder than normal days, but overall sunny and 60s. It's tough because I love the warmer Falls and Winters, but like you I worry about droughts in the Summer. Those are no good! Do you can your tomatoes or anything else from your garden? Oh how I tried to get into gardening, but my allergies just won't allow it. How's your shingles shot arm feeling? Glad your elbow has gotten some rest, not that Mark Lauren or the KB stuff is restful, ha!

Have a great weekend! Be back on Monday!

Good Morning from sunny Missouri! Cardio and ab day (got my Lisa on). For cardio I did 5 miles on the airdyne at varying intensities, I felt like I needed SOME cardio. I weighed in at 197 today and, my friends, it ain't ALL good weight! I am up from about mid 160's at my lightest. I am so thankful for the 30+ pounds, but I don't need it to be a lot of extra either. After my grueling cardio(lol) I hit abs hard, 2x50 crunches, side planks going from right to left 60 sec right, 60 sec left, 45 sec right, 45 sec left, 30 sec right, 30 sec left and finished planks with 2 min on both forearms. My last set was 50 cable crunches. Mid bod got hit and it feels good. I still would like to farm out cardio to you Lisa and bodyweight stuff, legs, and most other to you Karen, And I would just do some curls and skullcrushers once in awhile!! Hope y'all had a great weekend!

Every chest day I head downstairs with great optimism only to be disappointed it seems. Still no bench, but I did modify my isos.I placed my forearms outside my knees while seated and provided resistance thoughout the entire rom. Really felt these, did 8 sets and only hope it will help maintain pec strength. Next were tris. 3 sets skc, 3 sets tri pushdowns, and 3 sets kickbacks. I finished with 1 long set ez bar curls. Even though it's Monday, hope it is a good one for all Commandos! Lib, whats up with you? Justine, Roz, miss you ladies!!

Tom, didn't you just feel buzzed all day long yesterday from your cardio? You rocked it. Sorry about the nagging pain you're still dealing with. When you wanna bench, you wanna bench, and it's frustrating not to be able to do it. Proud of you for making it happen this morning. Proud of BOTH of us, actually, since it's always hard to get going on a Monday! Even though your body comp is what you dream about you've at least been able to put on some pounds. Seems like last year at this time you were quite worried about it, if I remember right. Just keep doing your Commando thing and it'll all come together...just as we enter into Holiday eating season, LOL!

Karen, what's up girl?

Early morning for me today. Lots of appts and house selection stuff today. Should be fun but exhausting. Started the day with ZERO mojo but I knew a Cathe Live would snap me out of it and sure enough, I felt great after doing Step & Pump Live (5/12/16). The endorphins should keep me going on all day long! :)

Take care, friends.

2 of 3 days work this week so up and at em early...again. Today was lats and bi's, 3 sets chins 12 8 6, 3x10 pulldowns, 3x10 pullovers, then bi's, 3x8 dumbbell curls, 3x8 hammer curls, ex8 ez bar curls, 3x8 and finished with 3 sets of bicep isos..feel like I killed that bodypart! Karen, hope your weatheris still holding up, and Lisa, glad the cardio reved ya up for the house stuff! Have a great Tuesday Ladies!

Wanted to box it out today so went for Cardio Boxing Live (11/10/16). Fun! Hoping to do splits for the weights as the week progresses but my workout space is still somewhat of a mess (gotta get my act together) so this low equipment / no equipment stuff has been easiest for me to do.

Tom, hope you don't have to pull too many teeth today but at last your biceps and lats will be pumped up to do it! Nice work, especially those chins!

Does anyone else besides me feel that the holiday craziness has officially begun?!?!

Hey friends!! Yesterday's workout was upper body work. I've started the last 5 weeks of RP. This month it's all about de-sensitization. Yea, I don't know either. But I've dropped down to 2 and three sets per exercise. Today was legs, Yayy legs!! I think I'm going to throw something new in the mix. I'm needing something new.
Yes Lisa, the holiday craziness has begun. Aarrgghh. Cardio Boxing Live, another Live goody. Speaking of weather, we were, weren't we? Ski season was scheduled to open this Friday. Good luck with that, no snow and all. So, the opening is postponed until after Thanksgiving. I will keep you posted. I know you're on the edge of your seats about this.
Good job with the chins Tom. Difficult movement for me, but so rewarding. Great back with chins and pull-ups in the mix.
Well, I must go. Need to feed the dogs. Talk tomorrow!

Leg day ( trying to curb my enthusiasm). 6x8 bench squats, 3x15 gob squats, 3x8 deads, 3x20 barbell calf raises and 3x20 singe calf raises Nothing real heavy but, for me, longer sets on deads and squats. Karen, desentization? I know you are probably looking forward to the snow, but gotta admit warm falls are SWEET!! Lisa, hope you knocked the stuffing out of the bag..sounds like fun. I have a heavy bag, but the strap that holds it broke and that and the speed bag are so noisey that I don't use them...if I wake DW up at 5, fitness will no longer matter!! Lol. Have a great Wed friends!

LMAO Tom! Better avoid that heavy bag at all costs. Don't wake up your DW at 5am, no matter what you do! My DH gets in deep doo-doo when he gets up earlier than me and wakes me up! I sure would love to get a fully functioning heavy bag for myself one day. Hey, 15 reps for goblet squats is not shabby at all. Way to get those legs in!

Yeah, um, desensitization? Sounds like a Gitmo interrogation technique! RP is a long program, you've stuck to it which I probably couldn't ever do. I am pretty sure I won't be able to sleep peacefully at night until I know you're sloshing down those ski slopes. Should I do my magical snow dance on your behalf? ;)

Today was ICE Total Body Compound Live (1/14/16). I've not done this one before. You know that ICE stands for Intermediate. This did NOT feel intermediate, but advanced! It was great, perfect balance of hard and fun.

Thursday = shoulders. Some improvement to report on overhead presses, placing hands very narrow, I was able to do 8 sets of strict press.f I extended my thumbs out they would nearly touch and this seemed to take some pressure off my right shoulder. I wasn't able to go real heavy, but did do a short set at 115#, and that is the heaviest I have been able to go in a pretty long time. Last week I did a double at 105 and had to look down to see if my right arm was still attached! Today not nearly as much discomfort. Following that I did 3 sets side laterals, 3 sets oly bar front raise, 3 sets heavy rear delt flys, and 3 sets heavy dumbbell shrugs. I finished with 2 sets of cable crunches. I did 1 mile on the airdyne to warm up shoulders and maybe that helped...dunno. but may try again! Do your thing Ladies!

Tom, great news on the improvement in your shoulders. My love for cardio aside, you probably did benefit from the longer warm-up on the bike. Speaking for myself I feel better after a 7 or 8 minute warm-up, as opposed to just jumping right in.

Karen are you getting your sensitization (de or re) in today? :)

Today I wanted to do the newest Live which is step but it's hard to catch it Live and then it takes a bit for the video to come online so I did Steptastic Live (2/5/15) instead.

Make it a great Thursday!

I agree, you longer warm-up on the bike, was a benefit. Happy to hear your shoulder is feeling better.
Yes Lisa, I get my sensitization today. Don't know how much longer I want to stick with this. I'm getting antsy to move on to something different. Steptastic Live? Sounds like it's a perfect fit for you.
Yesterday was upper body, with an emphasis on chest. Today was mostly triceps. Tomorrow is legs. Yay!
Today is almost over, so make it a great tomorrow!

Karen, excited for you because it's leg day today! Woot woot! Yesterday's workout sounds not so great to me...mostly triceps. My least favorite upper body part to work! Well, I certainly wouldn't judge you if you moved on to something different, but I would support you if you finished it off. Whatever you want, just go with it!

Tom, you doing OK today?

Today I did ICE Chiseled Upper and Lower Body Blast Live (1/21/16). Another early morning out the door. Off we go! TGIF everyone.

Y'all and your leg days!!! Arms for me (similar zeal) same old routine alternating tri sets, skc 3x15/ dumbbell curls 3x10, tri pushdowns 2x8,1x10/ hammer curls 2x8, 1x10, kickbacks 2x15, 1x20/ ez bar curls 2x10, 1x12 and finished with 50 crunches and cable crunches 1x30, 1x20. I'm taking DW to the airport to help son 2 babysit while his wife is in Boston. Batchin it again! Will pick her up in St. Louis Wed and we will have a family Thanksgiving at son 1's there. Son 2 and his family are planning to come as well so should be a GREAT Thanksgiving!! Have a great weekend my "leg w/o lovin friends"!!

I've been in a boot camp / circuit mood this week so I ended with ICY Boot Camp Live (12/24/15). Perfect for the holiday feeling in the air, plus I just enjoy the combinations of cardio, lower, upper in this workout.

Tom, your next few days will be exciting indeed. Don't get too crazy in your bachelor time because you're gonna have to report all of your single-man activities to your DW and the rest of the fam over the holidays. Don't want to be throwing mashed potatoes at each other over the dinner table! LOL!

Karen, hope you're well. I heard on the news that it snowed in Ogden. I pictured you getting straight into your car with your snow skis, ready to rock it.

Be back Monday! Have a great weekend.

Hi everybody!
Yes, we did get snow Thursday morning. Just a couple of inches. The dogs loved it, but it was all gone by noon. The snow on the mountains, is now gone. So, nothing to write home about, and today it was 62 degrees.
Yea Tom, don't get too crazy. Like I told my kids, if you get arrested, you will be in jail until you see the judge. No bail outs here. But, a food fight is enticing, until you have to clean it up.
Love Boot Camp workouts. Nice job, Lisa. Great job on the arms, Tom. I know how you love arms.
Today was an upper body mish mosh. Lots of pull-ups. This re - de is only four weeks, including the deload. So I will finish, just add more interesting "stuff."
See you all Monday!

Behaving myself after Karen explained the bail situation..lol!! And don't want to hit in the eye by flying turkey legs Lisa! I didn't do anything yesterday, left elbow is back for a visit, but some of it is more lateral than medial...go figure. Today I did a chest day to move things up due to the short week for me. I rode the bike a mile before and after the w/o (need a little cardio). I did sets of bench at 45 (warm up) and went to 95 then added 20 each set to 175 then back down in 20# increments to 95. Between each weight set I did 20 rom isos that really fried "ye ole chest" I did most all the sets as close grip, but I did much longer sets at 135, 115, and 115 at the end, widening the grip slightly and survived. It ended up 10 sets of bench and 10 sets of isos. I didn't do any tri stuff due to the elbow, but did finish with crunches x 50 x40 x30 x20 x10. Just glad to get something done, I feel "worked" and that's good!! Great work on the pullups Karen, the fact you are starting to like them is a little intimidating, and Lisa, I think I missed my chance at bootcamp when I didn't get drafted.. lol, may still happen (bootcamp not the draft!) Enjoy what's left of the weekend friends!
