Just boarded the STS train

I just received my discs yesterday and have been working on my 1RMs. To make things a little easier, I decided to use Disc 3 legs to help me figure my 1RMs (I tried my heaviest weight while watching Cathe and crew demonstrate the exercises).

The Wall Squats were the funniest. Forget picking up the weights...I laughed as I rolled down and then quickly realized I couldn't roll back up again. Too deep!

What both frightens and impresses me is the fact that I'm feeling soreness 5 hours after the workout. What the heck am I going to feel like tomorrow?!

Oh welcome to the house of pain! LOL

It gets better....well you adjust to the DOMS. I just finished week 8 of meso one. I'm doing a 5 month rotation. I've had DOMS every week. Honestly, I wondered if I couldn't stay in meso one longer since I'm still feeling them. I'm ready to move on and see what's up ahead:cool:

Ok, I know this is bragging, but I can't help myself.... I've gained some strength this past 8 weeks. Today, I was doing disc 12- my last leg day before a week of active rest. I raised my weights and pushed it as hard as I could. I was doing a set of narrow squats when the camera panned onto Cathe's weights. She was squatting with 2- 25lbs and I had 30's! I was shocked! Grant it, she was squatting that after days of filming, but I still felt pretty good:D

Welcome aboard!! And doing the 1RMS is truly worth it. I find that not only am I able to use weights I wouldn´t have reached for before, but the calculator is invaluable! Have fun with us:)

YEA! The pain is so worth it! I am into Mesocycle 2 week 3...just did legs yesterday and oh my! My butt is soooo sore! :) But it is a good sore....

Well, let's see if I can even remotely describe the pain and torture the "day after" will bring... Lets start by just the simple act of getting out of bed! engaging the hamstrings and quads you will immediately sit back down when you attempt the act of standing... sounds simple enough, but... call DH to help you stand! then, because you have to pee, you waddle to the bathroom. BE VERY CAREFUL SITTING DOWN! It WILL hurt! If you are one of the lucky ones that have those cheezy soft padded toilet seats, you are one of the lucky ones! Have DH stand outside the bathroom door (make him stick his fingers in his ears if you have "stage fright") to help you up when you are done! This will become a regular occurance tomorrow as you work through the incapacitating DOMS! Stairs will be all but impossible to climb. If you have kids, PERFECT! you will make them your slaves for the weekend! if not, you are stuck fending for yourself! I was one of the unlucky ones (no padded toilet seat OR kids!) Then, you waddle to the shower (or ebsom salt bath if you have it) just to be able to bend over to put your pants on! You might even consider wearing your PJ's all weekend! gentle stretching (emphasis on the word gentle) and take LOTS of Aleve or Advil!

You should be as good as new on Monday!

Welcome to STS! I began Meso three today and I am already thinking about what I will do after I complete Meso three.

I'll be boarding this train tomorrow, and hopefully my UPS man will be here early enough so I can spend some time going through the STS material before my kids get home from school...I can't wait!!!

I'm almost finished with my 1RMs. I previewed one of the Legs discs to see the moves in proper form and discovered Sit n Stands. Holy cow!!!!

Prior to today, I was thinking, "Hm...3 months or 6 months...which shall I do?" Then I saw that move and thought, "Oh, boy. I'm gonna need the 6 month rotation." :D

MS, we'll suffer together.

OMG

I have disk 3 to do tomorrow - you guys have me scared to death. My back from yesterday is still sore and I'm wondering if I will be able to hang with Cathe through this. Wish I could remember my password for my other login - deathbycathe - would be real appropriate about now...

I'll be doing disc 3 tomorrow as well. LOVED the first two workouts! :) I'm excited for tomorrow....and a little afraid at the same time! :D

The Sit n Stands require some balance, and the wall squats with weights...well...that was just plain funny. Once I got down, I couldn't get back up again!

I'm starting STS on Sunday - did 1RMs today and will do the rest tomorrow instead of my regular workout. I admit, when I did the 1RMs, I did a light workout first - did Body Fusion. I thought it would be wise so that I didn't overextend myself. Perhaps I'm cheating a bit by doing that? Not sure - but I just got back from my honeymoon and my last workout was March 17th (well, I did LIS yesterday as entry back into the land of working out - but that one is so light, I don't think it counted). I figure I need to be careful so that I am able to actually move after completing the first disk.

I'm doing the 6-month rotation. Will adjust as necessary.

I'm totally looking forward to this! . . . . I think. . .

Lisa, the DOMS hasn't been that bad for me. When I was using the discs to preview exercises for 1RMs, I had a decent amount, but just doing the discs as-is with 60% of my 1RMs has given me a pleasant, you-worked-hard soreness. Nothing that has required serious Advil yet. :)

Disc 3 Legs was tiresome though. It got my heart rate up quite a bit.

Don't take advil!

Or any other NSAID. It won't help the DOMS and
it will prevent muscle gains!

You can google it for a more scientific explaination if
you need it. No body builder will take it.

You are making 'micro' tears in the muscle; it repairs
them with more muscle tissue - thus - larger muscles.
NSAID's prevent this.

Get it? : )

Okay - officially boarded the train this morning!

I just completed my first workout this morning. I'm glad I'm doing the 6 month rotation. It wasn't that easy to get through the different exercises - getting the equipment, deciding if the weight was the "right" weight etc. So I have updated my workout - printed out the card and know that I will see it one more time next week. I think this will work for me.

My arms feel very mushy. . . . . BUT GOOD!! And WOW - that's a lot of pushups - but GOOD!

I have been waiting to do this workout until after the wedding - and it is finally here. I'm so very pleased.

Thanks for this note! I have never heard this before and did google it, and you are correct! but I didn't really see what you SHOULD be taking to help with DOMS... what do you take and does it help? I have been taking Naproxin due to knee swelling and pain with harder cardio (even if it is low impact) and leg workouts, per my doctors advice, but didn't think that I should take something else... would Tylenol or Asprine be a better choice for the DOMS when they get really bad?

TIA! :)
