Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Sept., 2019

Good evening,

DD and I had a massage scheduled today. The spa is only 10 min from my house. I had no idea it existed, lol. We also took DD out for dinner. DD is staying until Monday, she take her dog to the vet by our house. The vets in DC are very expensive.

Debbie - that is so awesome you work with homeless students. It's so sad to hear those students are homeless. It was heartbreaking going to the shelter yesterday. I am so glad my DD told me about the shelter. They were so greatfull for the donations. Once I am back from vacation I will donate more to the shelter. I agree, it's said how some families live. DD wants to volunteer at the shelter again soon, I am thinking going with her.

Diane - I been donating things to different organizations in our area. Once DD told me about the shelter I knew they needed it more. My DD also volunteered in the kitchen. Volunteering in homeless shelters makes you appreciate what you have. When we lived in El Paso DH, my kids and I volunteered at a shelter serving Thanksgiving dinner to the homeless. I am so excited about my trip to Hawaii.

Jolie - glad you enjoy those workouts. I need to pull my out, otherwise I will forget about them.

Roselyn - great job with STS today.

Roxie - glad you are back. Missed you, girl. Good job with your workout.

I have a dental cleaning early in the morning. I will do my workout later in the afternoon. I also have to go with DD to drop off her dog to the vet.

Good night.

Jolie - Dang, I don't stream Beach Body anymore. I might stream it again when I'm tired of Cathe. I'd like to do those workouts. They sound awesome.

Roxie - Glad to see you are ok! Was getting worried about you.

Belinda - That is really nice of you and your daughter to give to people in need. I do that as well but I should do it more often.

Diane - You must have posted the same time I did yesterday, I didn't see your post until this morning. Hope you are feeling better and better.

Have great workouts everyone!

No workout today, too much to do for my trip, i am leaving on Wed. Also, i am really sore from yesterdays workout, i couldn't lift a thing today or do any type of boxing workout. You know when you have so much to do it is hard to concentrate on anything else till it is done? Well, that's where i am today. BTW, my eating has been way off, way over my points in WW. I will be hitting the diet hard when i get back from vacation. In two weeks, i lost 2 pounds, that's it! Oh well, i will try harder when i get back on Sunday.

Belinda, wow on the spa day, lucky!

Debbie, i haven't done that workout yet. Thanks for posting. Can you believe i am too sore for Back today :)

BBL to read your posts.

PT helped a lot this morning. Both shoulder blades felt like something was pinching last night and my neck and arm hurt. This morning it was back to the right side. She dropped a couple of those moves and said it is just not working for me like it is supposed to. She did some stretching and work on my shoulder since my back area behind the shoulder and in the lats is so tight that the shoulder pushes up in the front with movements. She gave me a couple of stretches to do that work similar to what she did while she kept my shoulder in place to move to just the point where it starts to move up. She said each time she got a bit further and stretching it should help make more space for that nerve. She worked till most of the pain left that I went in there with. Before I showered this morning I did a 12 minute 1 mile walk with Jessica Smith. I liked this. I have never spent much time using her workouts, but rather like that you get some decent steps in and can put more into it if you want to. I sure have not got in many steps lately. I got 1,404 steps in that little 12 minute workout. I was thinking if I feel up to it, I should maybe do several like that even if it is different times of day so I can get some steps in. I am able to do more than I was in the beginning, but this gradual progress of two steps ahead and one back is rough.

Debbie, from what I am getting with PT, I am guessing it takes a lot more than just a few minutes of foam rolling and stretching to fix those problems. I watch them work on other's legs and hips etc.. I feel really sorry for the very elderly trying to get better when they come in with their walkers and assistance. They get them moving though. I hope that you can get that worked out. I tend to have low back and hip tightness on the right side. I bet if it is like the shoulder area it migrates from a problem from the opposite side. It is the left that is severe on my mri report I read and it is right that is giving me the pain. Although I have worked a lot with the lat and shoulder blade area on the left in the past because it would literally feel like it was pinching.

Belinda, the massage sounds nice. Funny, I have always avoided them other than one I had on a vacation out of country that ended up causing me pain. I suppose it is best to find a good qualified massage therapist in the US. I always worried about PT, but it is not so bad. That is great that you have done volunteer work for the homeless shelter. I am sure that they really do appreciate the items that they get.

Joilie, a pound a week is not bad. It is hard to stick to a strict eating plan. I keep manipulating mine. Hard to believe how many foods have a lot of cholesterol. I end up limiting whey protein to a quarter serving, smaller servings of meats and even fish, and eating a lot of fruits and vegetables which I always do, but when I feel like a snack or want something more with my lower cholesterol meal I go for a bowl of blueberries or something. The RX maple almond butter packets are not bad for fats and give me a bit of protein and I can actually stand the taste of the Garden of Life Organic plant based protein powder mixed in. I don't get why fat free dairy products have cholesterol. Even the yogurt. To me it also does not taste good. When I have something going on my attentiveness to things is all over the place.

Roxie, sorry you have had a rough time. Nice work getting the workouts in.

Good evening,

Got my workout in a while ago. I did 4DS BC this evening.

Had a busy day today. Had a dental cleaning early this morning. It didn't take long for my cleaning, lol. I guess brushing 3-4 times a day helps.

Then I went with DD to take her dog to the vet. DD took her dog to the an emergency vet a few weeks ago, her dog is coughing like crazy. Of course they wanted her to take him to a specialist in DC. DD take her dog to our vet, he is an amazing older vet. He explains everything and takes his time. Not to mention he is a lot cheaper than the vet in DC. The vet listen to his heart and recommended to do an Xray, which he did. He got a medical book out for us to see the difference on what his heart should look like. He explained everything pointing to the book and X-rays. Turns out the dog had fluid in his heart and his heart is larger than it should be which is cutting his air flow. The vet put him on 3 different heart medication. One for the fluid than the other 2 for his heart. The dog is only a little over 17 pounds, he's a tiny dog. We have to take him back in a few weeks.

This afternoon I had to catch up on work.

Debbie - thank you for your kind words. It's pretty nice of you what you do with homeless kids. You do a lot too.

Jolie - DD and I needed a spa day. We usually go get a massage in DC. The one we went on Saturday only a few minutes from my house. The lady told me they are open on Thanksgiving :) Throw that turkey in the oven than get a message, lol. I started packing a little today too. Our hotel has a washer and dryer, no need to overpack for 2 weeks.

Diane - you do get sore from the massage, maybe that is what felt as pain. I had a lot of knots in my shoulder ,she was working them on Sonday. I am very sore in my neck/shoulders today. I had a deep tissue massage, she went deep. I had to tell her a few times to lighten the pressure a little. I should get another one soon. We always read other people reviews. I am glad you starting to feel better.

Roxie and Roselyn- hope you had a great workout today.

Time to relax. See you all in the morning.

I think this week will be Kelly workouts. I miss doing her stuff and I'm a little burned out with Cathe. I watched some of Boxing & Pyramid Pump last night (thanks Roxie!) and I like the layout. I will do that one tomorrow Can't wait!!

Today I did a mix of cardio starting out with my Max Trainer and ending with Kelly's Cardio Pump Kickboxing. Fun stuff, I really enjoyed it.

I did a 4 minute Max Trainer workout called Max HiiT 4HD w/Tahneetra which is really fun, it's 10 seconds fast sprint followed right away by a 20 second get low and work your glutes and then 30 seconds recovery. You do that 4 times, it's hard and a blast. I love that one but the instructor is kind of annoying.

The 2nd one was Max 10 Peak Burn w/Amy Dixon and this one is 10 second sprints alternating between 4 and 6 resistance with a 50 second rest period. This one is hard.

Both workouts together was 22 minutes, burned 165 calories (which isn't bad), went .42 miles and did 1163 steps. HR was 139/168.

Cardio Pump Kickbox was 30 minutes, burned 257 calories, went 3288 steps and HR was 139/196. Weird because every time I looked down at my FB, the HR wasn't showing. I was getting a bit pissed about it. I love this kickboxing routine, it is so fun. Now I want to do the one from the Build and Burn series.

Jolie - We will miss you but I hope you have a great vacation!! Have a lot of fun and then you can get back to WW in full force. Sorry you are having trouble staying on task. It's hard, I know!

Diane - I really should go to a PT to see about my hamstring. And as I was using my foam roller, I am not so sure it's my hamstring at all. I have knots or pressure points in my glutes and my IT band. I worked them out again yesterday and feel ok today, but the minute I do something like leg work or like my Max Trainer, the pain is back. Walking is bad, too, if I walk for a long time. Wish I knew what it was. I just don't have time to go to PT every couple of days. I might look into it, though. I'm glad you are feeling a bit better, that is good. Hopefully soon you will be back to 100%.

Belinda - You are so lucky you got a massage, I'm jealous! I could use one of those right about now! I hope your DD's dog gets better, that is scary. Glad your vet is so good, that is always nice to have someone you trust for your pets. Nice job with your workout last night and this morning! Killing it!!

Waving hi to Roselyn and Roxie and Doreen! Hope you are all well today!!

I did another SC Full body Hiit this morning. This was pretty intense for 30 minutes - I was dragging too I guess. It was 3 exercises, one strength one cardio repeated back to back 3 times before a break. I'll have to try it again when I have slept better to see if it is really as intense as it seemed this morning. I also swapped out her cardio for some basic step moves just to change things up a bit.

A quick check in before i leave on my trip. I am really excited to go, i am sick of my son, in a loving way :) you know, mouthy teenagers, and i need a break. I am excited to get some walks in through the vineyards with my hubby and doing some wine tasting too. They have the best restaurants in the world in Napa, really healthy earthy foods so i cant wait to have some great meals. Then, off to Reno NV. to go out with my son for dinner, his birthday is next week and the next day is the football game vs Hawaii. The weather in Napa is 101 degrees and Reno is 61! Also, it is a 7:30pm game so i will be freezing my butt off LOL! I will miss you all and hope you have a great rest of your week. I will be home Sunday afternoon, i look forward to my workout on Monday.

Debbie, great workout today, i am getting tired of Cathe right now too! Not sure what i will do when i get back, i was looking for P90X but i cant find it. Also, my hip and hamstring and hip flexor is giving me fits too! weird. Maybe from the kickboxing?

Belinda, have a wonderful time on your vacation to Hawaii. I have to pack a lot, two different temps. to deal with, sandals and dresses for Napa, down jacket, jeans and gloves for Reno! Sorry to hear about your DD dog.

Roselyn, great job with STS. I just went and got my haircut the other day and didn't like it much, so i cut it off into a pixie, I thought of you the whole time :)

Doreen, good job on the workout today, thanks for posting it.

I hurt my right hip, i have no idea how but that really irks me!

Have a great day!

This morning was my day with the women playing games. There were less of us today and we played scrabble and then just visited. I did a quick Jessica Smith 1 mile walk from You Tube and part of my PT before I went. When I got home I did another Jessica Smith 1 mile abs walk and the rest of the PT. This was 70 minutes total time and 264 calories, 3,130 steps. I go to physical therapy tomorrow.

Debbie, I saw Kelly's Boxing and Pyramid Pump on the Complete Library. I know I was looking for the September Ripped and Ride Lower Body and it was at the end of the list in the Complete Library. I was wondering if they were not organizing it as much while getting set for their streaming app or what ever it is they are doing. I am not sure how that will work. Hope it uses the Roku. I really do want to try some of those newer workouts and do my new dvds. I just can't. I know I feel better and get brave and try something and it seems it sets things off again. I am using my heating pad evenings and stretching a bit before I go to bed at night. The area that she really stretched yesterday was a bit sore this morning, but not a bad sore. More like the muscle had been worked a bit. It sure helped give that nerve more room and got rid of pain.

Belinda, I can tell that some of the massage type stuff makes me a bit sore. But they really dig into those spots to try to release things. But, then when things are loosened up enough it takes pressure off the nerve. Funny, on the massage after putting the turkey in the oven. Those special dinners like that usually have me cooking things and preparing food starting 3 days ahead of time. It is nice having a vet that you trust and that does not over charge. I really loved the one I used to have. The one I have now I have used for years and seems fine, but it seems they are really growing their vet business with grooming and boarding and have added more staff members. The other one was so easy going. He seemed to know when my dog Mudd went in that she had a lot of anxiety and he would always just get down on the floor with her and hand her treats and pat her and stuff and the only vet that could just grab her paws and clip fast. He did this in the waiting room, before I took her to the exam room for immunizations or other things. None ever ask if I wanted it done. He just did it and said they were too long and it didn't go on my bill. He took in dogs off the street and helped them out. I guess that is the difference of being in a big city and being in a smaller community.

Doreen, sometimes fatigue does make a workout seem much more intense than it would normally feel. It sounds like a good workout.

Jolie, enjoy your trip and some relaxation and fun.

I did a Cardio Spin DVD this morning - this was a nice solid ride- mostly flat road with some standing running.

Jolie- I hear you! I'm kinda sick of my son (in that same loving way) right now too!! Too much teenage drama.

Today I did Kelly RAW Boxing and Pump and had fun with this one, I really liked it but it wasn't all that hard. I might have to wear my 1# gloves for the boxing part because that was easy. The lifting part got a bit hard because it's continuous but I probably should have gone heavier in some segments. This one was really fun, I enjoyed it.

This is how it went:

Short warm up of boxing

Shoulders - 1 minute per exercise
Double Arm Row - 15's
Standing Delt Fly - 10's (these were hard)
Overhead Press - 5's (she did a few different moves here, glad I only used 5's)

Boxing

Biceps - 1 minute per exercise

Bicep Sweeper Curls - 15's
Pledges - 10's
Running Curls - 5's (could have gone heavier)

Boxing

Shoulders - 1 minute per exercise

Upright Row - 15's
Lateral Raise - 10's (I wrote 10's but I don't think I went that heavy?)
Bent Over Raise - 8's

Boxing

Triceps - 1 minute per exercise

Overhead Triceps Extension - 15#
Kickbacks - 8's
Dips

Boxing

Chest - 1 minute per exercise

Chest Press - 15's
Chest Flies - 10's
Face Plant Push Ups

Legs - 1 minute per exercise
Squats - 15's
Reverse Lunges - 10's
Scales (alt. one leg deads) - 8's

No boxing between chest and legs, I think legs were just thrown in there last minute.

Workout was 55 minutes, burned 413 calories, went 3220 steps and HR was 158/192.

Diane - What app are they coming up with? I hope that doesn't change everything. And I don't want to do these workouts on my phone or tablet. Why do they keep changing things that work? Frustrating. Glad you are feeling better! Hope it continues.

Sorry everyone, I will do more personals later. Gotta go!

Debbie, here is the post from Kelly a while back. I thought I saw another answering questions before that mentioned apple tv and fire tv. . Anyway this is all I can come up with quickly. I have to leave for PT.
Edited to say there was also a post with women talking about the fact Kelly was going to add her dvds to her new app as someone was wondering whether to purchase or wait so they could just stream them. Also talk about cost. Nothing definitive. Someone said something about the premixes and Kelly did pop in and say she has done a few on the Raw channel, but it is difficult to do them. So, it did seem pretty apparent that her dvds will be available for streaming on the App. Guessing it must be something like Cathe is doing. Just hoping I can still use my Roku.

For all RAW and future RAW subscribers, I am launching my own fitness app in the near future to make it more accessible...more info coming this Fall.

Back from physical therapy. She sure knows how to stretch and work those tight places out. She added another stretch for this area that I can do myself with the assistance of a pillow case. I need to start writing all of these down. I did put a couple in the notes portion of my agenda book. Nothing else today as I really need to get in some house cleaning. Hopefully the next couple of days I can get in some other work for lower, abs, and cardio.

Doreen, nice work doing a spin workout. I need to do another one.

Belinda, packing and planning for trips is kind of exciting. Maybe a bit stressful as you want to make sure you have everything you need. Vacation places tend to be expensive for those odd things you might need.

Debbie, that Kelly workout does look like fun. I need to copy and paste so I have it for whenever I can do it. The new strength series for Raw that she if filming looks good. I kind of winced at the picture where they are holding a 35# weight plate in front at shoulder level. I think I would cry if I did that right now. It looked uncomfortable if what they are doing is holding the edge of the plate. I would be using a kettlebell or something. Better grip. Maybe that was just for the picture?

Jolie - sorry about your son giving you a hard time. It's that age. I would be packing a lot clothes too. What a difference in temperatures :( I only pack summer stuff, lol. Enjoy your vacation too. Thanks about my DD's dog.

Debbie - I also get burned out on Cathe's workouts. I do need to check out KCM streaming since you enjoy them so much. Her workouts look amazing. Great job today and yesterday.

Diane - We shall see tomorrow when I actually pack my suitcase tomorrow on how much I will bring? I usually overpack, don't use half what I bring. This time I want to bring what I actually use. I usually bring those add things on vacation. I don't even bring my computer on vacation anymore, lol.

Roxie - hope you had a great workout today.

Waving Hi to Roselyn and Doreen. Good night.
