Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for May 2020

Just didn't have it in me to workout today. I'm wondering if I need a break? I ended up walking on my treadmill and got a decent calorie burn doing that.

Workout was 50 minutes, burned 314 calories, went 2.38 miles and did 5888 steps. HR was 115/137.

Diane - Thanks for typing out that workout for me, I will probably do it tomorrow. I wanted to do it today but just didn't feel like it. It looks similar to the Real RAW 3 I did last week. I like the format. Glad you have your fast speed internet up and running, that is great! I agree, it is a pain to do that stuff, I'm not a big fan. Funny, I used to be an IT Tech, now I hate working on computers and wifi stuff.

Belinda - Nice job walking 2 miles in the rain! LOL! Is it warming up where you are yet? It's been cold and snowy here this weekend but we will be in the 70's by the end of the week. Looking forward to it!

Doreen - Nice job on your workout!

Roselyn - Great job with the Beast workouts!

Jolie - Great job with your workout yesterday. Glad you had fun with your parents. We had to stay inside with my mom because it was freezing outside, which I was worried about, but we wore our masks. Well, me and my DH did, my stupid brother didn't. I'm sort of mad at him for that. So we didn't stay long and just had cake and talked a bit. This crap is getting old fast.

Hope you all have great workouts today!!

Happy Mother's day (yesterday) everyone! I did the 6 week sweat off mobility workout yesterday morning and then did a long hike.

This morning I did Sydney Cummings workout on her new filming stage - so much nicer than the all white background they had been using! It was a Hiit Cardio.

Hi everyone,

Today I did a SBF TB barre workout plus abs. It's really windy and cold outside not sure if I get my walk in today. We shall see.

Julie - it is cold here. Yesterday I got a sun burn sitting on my deck. Glad you had a wonderful Mother's day.

Debbie - my husband said he saw snow flurries. I walked early in the morning, it was cold. It got really warm in the afternoon. Today it's cold and windy again. What is up with this weather? It's suppose to get warmer starting Wednesday. Maybe your body is telling you need a break, lol.

I will catch up on more personals later.

Today I did Step Boss PHA 3, 67 minutes (61 actual), with the extended stretch, heart rate 108/144, 213 calories, 1,928 steps. I got a really late start. I had a lot of things going on this morning so that is it as it already 2. Not sure how my week will be. I am supposed to go to ladies game day tomorrow. I think my daughter needs help with moving. I ordered a new scale. I was going tho get the Fitbit Aria 2, but have read so many negative things and problems, plus it doesn't have as many features as some others. It took awhile to choose one. I tried to find something USA made, but most are planned here and assembled in china. I read some news articles that Fitbit plans on moving their next items out of China. It seems the tariffs on China is making them make the decision. All cell phones come from China. I will post the one I got as it works with Fitbit and other apps. The company is owned by France though. I didn't know till I had ordered and looked ath the Withings USA and we are just one part of their company. I think the still have a facility in Hong Kong.

Belinda, nice work today. Hope you can get your walk in. It is much cooler here the last couple of days, but supposed to be 80 Wednesday. I had to double over my quilt last night because it was cold.

Debbie, it seems I don't have it in me quite a bit lately. Not real motivated. Maybe it is somewhat all of the stressors. I try to not think about things, but it is hard not to when it is all around you. I was not feeling pushing heavy or cardio. All of this media changes all of the time. I was having a hard time finding my pictures yesterday after loading them and my husbands new Laptop that is supposed to be good for gaming which he does not do and have everything on it does not have an SD slot for him to load the pictures on his. I had to order a reader for him. Sorry you had to shorten your visit with your mother and stay inside.

Doreen, that sounds like a fun active Mother's day.

Jolie, that is great that you are getting a new Fitbit as a gift. Glad you had such a fun Mother's day. I had most of my family here and it was nice.

Today I did the original Real RAW workout. I have mixed feelings about this one. Love the music, exercises were pretty good, but Kelly doesn't talk much through it. I never knew when the 30 seconds were up,or what exercise she was going to do next. I think this was probably her very first RAW workout. I'm glad she doesn't do these like this anymore, I would never have continued with the subscription.

I added exercises to this because I think my chest work has been lacking as well as biceps. So I added extra sets and went heavy. The warmup was weird, she used heavy rope and did those things you see in a hardcore gym. I just did my own warmup.

30 second intervals

1 Arm Row: 22.5#
1 Arm Kettlebell Row: 15#
1 Arm Curl: 15#
1 Arm Kettlebell Curl: 15# (I used my dumbbell)
Added:
Alternate Hammer Curls: 15's - 2 sets
Alternate Hammer w/Twist: 15's - 2 sets
Dumbbell Bench Press: 20's - 2 sets
Kettle Bell Single Arm Press: 15#
(I Repeated the Chest work)
Squats w/Knee Ups: Body Weight
Kettlebell Squats: 15# - 2 sets
Hockey Squats (these were weird, didn't like how my knees felt doing these)
Kickbox Cardio - used 5# dumbbells for punches
Kettlebell Swings: 15# - 2 sets
American KB Swings: 15#
Lying Triceps Extensions: 10's
Lying Triceps Extension (both hands): 15# - 2 sets
Seated Overhead Extension: 20#
(she does these for 3 sets but they didn't feel good to me so I did seated ones after 2 sets)
Lateral Raise: 8's/10's - 2 sets
Kettlebell Alternate Upright Row: 15# - 2 sets
Cardio - used 5's for boxing drills
Kettlebell Scales: 15# - 2 sets
Deadlifts: 12's (She did another set of KB scales)
Ab work

Again, not a favorite, probably won't do it again. Adding in the other sets I feel like I had a good workout.

Workout was 55 minutes (but really only 36 minutes), burned 276 calories, HR was 113/168.

Diane - It is almost impossible to find anything not made in China. I hope that changes soon. Cool scale and not a bad price. I haven't weighed myself in forever. I don't really care what I weigh as long as my clothes fit. LOL! I should weigh myself this week to see where I am. I agree, I think the stress with everything that is going on and me possible losing my job has me on edge. I'm hoping for the best but I won't know until probably July. Makes me really sad that I even have to worry about losing the best job ever. Sucks. Great job with your workout! I think I need to start adding some Cathe workouts again. I think I just need something different. I might do the Pyramid workouts soon.

Waving to all! Hope you all have a great workout and day!!

Debbie - I hope you don't loose your job. Really, Really hope they can get things back to normal by this fall so all the kids can go back to school.

My son took his first AP test yesterday - which now they are all online... and his test wouldn't upload! So all that hard work and he can't even get graded. There is a make up test in June but ugh - I know he just wanted to be done with it all! He has another one today and then one on Friday so hopefully those work and he doesn't have to re-take them all!

This morning I did 6 Week Sweat off lower body dumbell 2. Then I checked out a couple other workouts on the app but not super impressed with either of them. Its like everyone at Men's Health (sponsor of the app) is doing the same moves and most seem geared to beginners but they make them seem so hard. There is even one entire program shot on an entirely pink set - yuck. I research and I can get the 6 week sweat off program on DVD for about $30 if I want too.

Yesterday was a rest day I just didn't sleep well so I cleaned the house and did laundry instead.

Today I had a really great workout. I started with the TM, 40 minutes, 8.0 incline, 3.2 speed and walked 2 miles. I burned 448 calories. Next I did Cathe Live #284 Arms and ABS (not sure why she calls is Arms because it is the entire upper body workout using the ball, I guess because you use your arms for all the exercises except abs). Anyway, I loved it, especially after doing cardio because it is a slow workout, lite weights, high reps, different rep counts ect. I love slower workouts! I think you all should try this one, your muscles are screaming when she is done. You start out thinking this weight is way to lite, no way, by the end you are crying :). This workout I burned 376 calories. Total calorie burn was 824, heart rate was 126 and max was 179.

Debbie, great job getting through the workout even though it wasn't what you had hoped for today. Still lifting impressive weights I see :). I am loving Cathe Live again, her newer workouts are a little different and they are more my speed.

Belinda, nice workout today. The weather is a little cooler here for the week and I will take it because the summers are very warm even living at the beach.

Diane Sue, I am so glad you had a nice Mother's Day and you got to have your family over to visit. I will check back later to read your post. I am making veggie sandwiches for lunch today, squaw bread, avocado, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, lettuce, sprouts and some cilantro dressing so it isn't dry. Yum. I am really enjoying eating veggies right now, meat just is hard to stomach at the moment.

Doreen, bummer for your son and his test. I would be so disappointed if that happened to me as well. Nice workout today.

Roselyn, I love Yvette too! Great job with it yesterday, which one did you do?

BBL to read your posts and I hope we all have a wonderful day.

No workout today. I did not get to sleep till almost 2 am even though I tried. I got up at 7:30 so I had time to feed the dog and get showered to go to ladies game day. My neck hurts a lot today and I just took a rest day.I stopped at Sprouts on the way home and picked up some butternut and acorn squash, Nuttzo Power fuel nut and seed butter, and kombucha tea that I was out of. Hungry for squash for some reason ;) Then my Amazon packages arrived early so I worked on setting up my scale. It was easy to sync it with My Fitness Pal, but I have not figured out how to get Fitbit on it, but they do say it will take Fitbit as well. I read some stuff online and their help pages, but just too tired to concentrate on it. Funny, my older daughter and granddaughter thought it did not sound fun at all to have a wifi scale that syncs with the phone app and keeps up with all of your stats. It picks up on my calorie intake from MFP. Also will tell you what the weather is when you turn it on if you want it too. You choose which stats etc you want it to use. Going to bed in a bit after trying to loosen up the neck and shoulders.

Debbie, That was Kelly's first Real Raw workout. She asks the ladies what they like and does pay attention to what they say about workouts so I think that has helped her improve a lot. I think she has got a lot better and am loving the newest ones. Having to worry about work would be a tough one. I sit and worry about my children and grandchildren's jobs. They seem to be okay so far. I have not heard about the schools yet for next year and plans. I imagine that will come as we open back up. I keep praying that it will move along faster than expected. People need to work. I really love Kelly's workouts, but once in awhile I need to do something different. Cathe's seem a lot similar to me anymore. I am planning on ordering her next dvds soon. I just have not been in a hurry. I finally got enough rebate money saved up for them and need to have the money put in my PayPal account.

Jolie, when I am tired even cleaning house is not something I want to do. I drag through it. I have to get caught up over the next two days though. My husbands days off just changed. I like something to give moisture to my wrap sandwiched. Usually I spread some avocado on, add veggies and sometimes some tuna or chicken then sprinkle with some chunky salsa. I tried heating one in the skillet with some new wraps I purchased at Walmart that had no wheat or soy in them, just things like sorghum flour, rice flour etc.. They seemed a little dry, much like brown rice Food for Life tortillas are. I used to eat those with homemade hummus and veggies for lunch a lot.

Belinda, I was eyeing the Fit Tower workouts and thinking I should at least throw in some of the premixes. There are some Barre workouts on the Fit Bit. So far though, watching on my tablet and just the workouts themselves, I think are not as good as what we have with our favorite instructors. Plus I don't like not knowing what to expect. I start them and end up stopping.

Belinda, it is tough taking tests online. I had my grandson here one night trying to take a college test and after all of the time he spent it never got through. I hope things work out for your son next time. That is too bad that happened.

Doreen, a lot of the workouts on Fit bit that I checked out seem fairly easy or like they are teaching beginners. I keep thinking I will try a strength one and then end up deciding I would probably be wasting my time. A pink set would be awful.

I feel really great today, I had a good nights sleep and will share below why I think that is. I did RAW 1:1 Heavy Bag and Kelly was training Noelle in this one. I really liked it, it was fun but I noticed my HR didn't get up that much. Towards the end I finally broke a sweat. No abs in this one so I added the ab work from Heavy Bag 2. Love that one.

Workout was 42 minutes, burned 250 calories, did 3279 steps and HR was 120/181.

I also got on my Max Trainer and did Max Endurance with Tom Holland. Great endurance workout, no sprinting in this one. I enjoyed it and it didn't kill me like the others ones do. Every time I looked at my Fb it said my HR was under 100. WTF?

Workout was 19 minutes, burned 84 calories (MT showed 155), went .5 miles and did 1285 steps. HR was 98/131.

So I have been training myself to sleep on this wedge pillow and although I really hate sleeping on my back, I have been testing this out and it helps my low back not get sore. I still can't sleep on it all night, but last night I made it until 3 a.m. and honestly, I'm not sure why I put it on the floor (I get up at 4:30). It's very comfortable with My Pillow behind my head and keeps my upper body up. It helps with several things: snoring, my shoulder pain, my sinuses and my wrinkles. Since I lay on my right side most of the night, my right shoulder bothers me when I get up, my face on the right side has a large wrinkled indent near my chin and I have horrible bags under my eyes when I wake up. None of that was there this morning (well, the wrinkle is still near my chin but I'm hoping that will eventually go away). My shoulders feel great and I don't even feel knots right now. So just putting this out there, you might want to try it. I will keep using it as I think it has made a big difference so far.

Doreen - Thanks so much. I hope I can keep it as well but the beginning of the school year here in OH doesn't look promising. They are talking about split days where kids will go to school twice a week, work at home twice a week and I can't remember what they will do on that 3rd day. Testing maybe? It's ridiculous. Also, no one knows what will happen with busing either. If busing is out I cannot do my early year events. I'll just have to wait and see. Been sending out applications but nothing yet. I seriously can't believe that test your son took didn't get submitted. There should be something you could do about that. Now talk about ridiculous. Poor kid. They need to make sure these tests work, that is ridiculous.

Jolie - You are making me want to resubscribe to Cathe's live workouts. I may do that, I think I need to change things up a bit. Love Kelly but I feel like I'm not getting enough weight work. Nice workout yesterday. Great job with your workout yesterday!

Diane - Sorry your sleep hasn't been so good. It sounds like your schedule is all screwed up lately. Hopefully it will go back to normal soon. I hope you enjoy the scale, I have no desire to have one of those. I can't remember to weigh myself once a week anymore. I am thinking about subscribing to Cathe live again, I think I need something different. It just seems when I do Cathe's workouts I end up injured. I guess I just need to remember to train smart.

Belinda - Good job on your workout yesterday! :)

Waving hi to Roselyn and Roxie!

Have great workouts everyone! It is hump day!

Good morning. I'm testing out another fitness app (yes- I know I have a problem!) This one is Sweat Factor by Mike Donovanick. This one looks really nice, has the capability to stream to Chromecast or there is a Roku app. The ease of connecting these apps to the big screen is really a deciding factor for me. All Out Studio was horrible - no Roku app, no streaming button - I just had to mirror my screen which causes the audio to be out of sync with the video and is annoying. This morning I did a 25 Minute Heavy Weight Tabata Inferno by some cross-fit guy I've never heard off. But his accent was cool and he did a killer workout. 2 weighted dumbell moves, two body weight moves, a full 4 minute tabata for each move. I modified the burpees like I always do so no big deal there and I liked the workout. Then I did Build & Burn Trim & Tone workout to finish my workout with some "easy" cardio movements.

So far my favorite fitness streaming apps are (in no particular order)
  1. Cathe Live - (streaming options are easy, tons of variety for weights, cardio, and equipment)
  2. RAW - (streaming options are easy, variety of weights, cardio, equipment)
  3. Fitness on Demand (inexpensive, tons of options for cardio, weights, equipment, streaming is a challenge)
  4. Cyberobics ( Streaming is easy, variety of weights, some cardio, sets are beautiful)
  5. Sweat Factor (Streaming is easy, tons of trainers, weights, some cardio, no cycle,no step)

Today I woke up feeling great so I got on the TM and walked because my upper body is sore from yesterday's workout, I cant wait to do it again. Stats from todays workout, 80 minutes, 6.5 to 8.0 incline, 3.1 to 3.3 speed, traveled 4.2 miles and burned 779 calories. Average heart rate was 123 and max was 179.

Debbie, where did you get the pillow? I sleep on my left side and I have the whole deep crease in my face too! I want to get the pillow for my husband because he snores so bad, so bad I cant even tell you, I don't sleep with him most of the time. If that helps with snoring I am getting it for him! Great workout today! Sign up for Cathe Live and we can do it together! I love the newer workouts, the speed is better and I like the formats too. I think it may be hard to get a job right now since so many people have been laid off. However, a lot of companies are now going to working from home so you might actually score a good job, you have great experience so that is what they look for in an applicant.

Doreen, boy you sure have a lot of great workouts to choose from each day! Nice workout today, that looks like a great one to do. I love Tabata workouts too.

Diane Sue, I hope you slept better last night, i hate not getting a good nights sleep.

Belinda, Roselyn and Roxie, i hope you all have a great workout today.

BBL to read your posts for the day.

Jolie - The link above should take you to Amazon - that is where I got the Wedge Pillow. Click on the blue "wedge pillow" in my post from this morning and it should take you to Amazon. The pillow is $33. Worth it for sure.

I will sign back up for Cathe right now. :)

Hi everyone,

I went for a 4 mile walk this afternoon. I also did SBF active stretch. Needed that stretch after all that walking.

Off to the shower. BBL for personals

This afternoon I did Cathe Low Impact Challenge, 51 minutes, 246 calories, heart rate 120/144, 4,917 steps. I have not done this in a real long time and my calorie burn with this watch was 100 less than in the past. My heart rate dropped out for awhile and I kept moving the Fitbit around hoping it would come back. It was low when it did. I rebooted it this morning when I was trying to get the new scale to pick up on Fit bit. It says it does. I even found a link on the website that said I was linked and when I stand on the scale next time Fitbit will be working with it. I did this last night too and nothing happened. I also am thinking maybe my scale is only operating off of Bluetooth with the Health Mate app (theirs) and not wifi. So, I have issues. It does show my stats and everything and sends them to the Withings dashboard, and App, just certain things like steps that would come from other apps and the weather ( I really don't need), but still would like to have all of the features functioning. I saw that there were quite a lot of threads on Fitbit on using this scale with their Fitbit. Most of the problems were with the older model with Nokia imprinted on the scale.

I also did Raw Core Moves with the stability ball, 24 minutes, 46 calories, heart rate 96/128, 211 steps.
Total time was 75 minutes, 5,128 steps.

Debbie, I have been through so many pillows and sleeping arrangements. Never quite comfortable on my back, but it sure does make my shoulders and neck better. I have a crease midway on my right cheek that is deeper than the left. It is a family trait and even my children had it when they were young. It just got deeper because the right side is the one I always buried my face in the pillow on. Sort of squashed it up there. I have looked at the wedges. I keep waking with low back stiffness. My neck and shoulder is painful after Monday's PHA workout. I needed the break yesterday and decided I was not ready to hit something that might aggravate today. I use one of those roll and go My Pillows and tuck it under my torso on the side if I turn on my side so I have space for my shoulder between it and my My Pillow regular. I also use the Mckenzie neck roll under my neck. I toss them off at times. Never can find the perfect comfortable way to sleep. But on the back gives me the least pain, I just don't stay there all of the time. When pain wakes me I go back to my back. I could use a wedge pillow when I am on the couch watching television with my husband. I just cannot sit on the couch long without my back and neck hurting and I get my pillows and wedge myself upward with my neck roll behind my neck. Pretty pathetic really.
I think the heart rate did not get up as much with the 1 and 1 heavy bag because they took a bit longer breaks and not much with footwork. The heavybag 2 was pretty much non stop boxing for quite a lengthy amount of time. I liked both though. Kelly gave good form pointers and stuff.

Doreen, nice job on the workouts. It is interesting to see which ones you like and why. The not being able to stream would be a deciding factor for me. I would think about using the Fitbit Premium more if I could stream from it. They even sent me an email questionnaire about my thoughts and asked questions about if I had used streaming services. Maybe since Google is taking over Fit bit they might come up with something. So, far I have not tried many workouts though. I looked this morning and for some reason a lot of the workouts were not showing up on the screen on my tablet. Don't know if it was them or my new high speed expensive internet.

Jolie, great workout today. You burnt a lot of calories.

Belinda, nice work on the long walk and SBF stretch.

Today I did a Cathe Live workout and had a great workout. I still worry that I will get injured using her workouts again, sometimes she is so fast moving from exercise to exercise. This one was fine, though, like Jolie said - it was slower paced and didn't have that rushed feel to it. I decided to do #284 - Arms & Abs on the Ball.

This is how it went:

Seated Curls on Ball: 12's/16 reps
Incline Hammer Curl on Ball: 12's/16 reps
Sweeper Curls on Ball: 12's/8 reps
Seated Curls on Ball: 12's 6 reps of 2 cnt up, 6 cnts down
Repeated the first three exercises but did them altogether - 12's

Overhead Press-Palms in: 10's/19 reps
Overhead Press-Palms forward: 10's/8 reps
Overhead Press 1.5's: 10's/2 sets of 4 reps
Lateral Raise: 5's/Lots
Incline Front Raise: 8's - arc, raise one arm, arc, raise the other
Front Raise/Bicep Curls: 5's

Chest Flies on Ball: 15's/12 reps
Dumbbell Press on Ball: 15's/16 fast reps
Flies/Press on Ball: 15's/7 reps
Pushups w/Legs on Ball: 8 reps
Single Arm Fly: 12#/12 reps
Pushups on Ball: 8 reps

Lying Triceps Extension on Ball: 10's/8 reps
Overhead Extensions on Ball: 15#/8 reps
Close Grip Press on Ball: 12's/10 reps
Lying Triceps Extension on Ball: 10's/8 reps
Overhead Extensions on Ball: 10's/8 reps
See Saw Pushups: 2 sets/8 & 4 reps

One Arm Row: 16 reps - skipped
Pullovers: 12 reps - skipped
One Arm Row: 12 reps - skipped
Pullovers: 8 reps - skipped
Single Arm Fly on Ball: 2 sets/8 reps - skipped
Supermans: Skipped

Abs

I skipped back because my upper back is still a bit knotty so I didn't want to push it, plus since I wrote down all the exercises I was already in an hour with this workout. Ab work was pretty good except for the first exercise that was a plank on the ball exercise. I skipped it. The rest was good.

Workout was 60 minutes, burned 258 calories (really thought it should have been way more than that), HR was 105/161. Every time I looked down at my FB it showed my HR was under 100 bpm. What is wrong with this thing?

Doreen - Thanks for listing your favorite on demand workouts. Interesting and nice breakdown!

Jolie - I answered your pillow question yesterday, hope you seen my answer. Yes, the deep crease line I have near my chin is disturbing and looks awful. I hate it. From all I've read it should go away but we'll see, it's been there for years. I had trouble sleeping last night due to my DH snoring like crazy. Good God, he is getting bad. He said I snore, too, and I'm sure I do, but yikes, last night was horrible. I need to get him one of these pillows and I just might. So I signed up for Cathe Live again. There really aren't that many new workouts since I stopped doing it. I liked the one I did today, though, it was a good paced workouts. There weren't many people in that class and that was filmed before the shut down. Weird.

Belinda - Wow, 4 miles! Does that bother your knees when you walk that long? Hopefully they are doing good now. Nice job! That's a long ways!

Diane - So frustrating when our devices don't work like they should. I have to restart my phone at least once a day to get my FB to sync with it. WTH? Some update must have happened and everything changed. I hate that. And I've noticed my FB isn't clocking my HR right anymore, not sure what happened there. Nice job on your workout yesterday. It is hard to train myself to sleep on my back and I realized last night the reason I sleep on my side (other than I love sleeping that way) is because I can press my ear onto the pillow and pull the covers over my other ear to block out my DH's snoring. Good lord he has been bad lately. I need to put cotton in my ears and I will try that tonight. I feel so much better from the lower back up with sleeping on my back. My low back still gets sore, though.

I've applied to about three jobs this week. Haven't heard anything. I hope I hear something about my current job soon but I don't think my boss will know much of anything until around July.

Have great workouts everyone! Sorry so long!

This morning I did Lite Cardio Party and the first kicking drill and combo of Lite Rev'd Up Rumble. Just needed a "movement" day - nothing too difficult.

Good morning,

CL 185 Pumped UB is done. Had a great workout. For Triceps kickback I did Triceps press down on my Bowflex. Instead of dips I did triceps extension. The dips puts too much pressure on my shoulders. I did find Cathe went fast on some of the exercises. Maybe I am getting to old, lol.

Jolie - nice calorie burn on your walk yesterday. Fantastic job!

Debbie - I like the looks of the workout you posted. I should do it soon. Fantastic job today. Walking doesn't border my knees as long is I don't walk up hills. Walking flat is fine. Taking a break from heavy lower weights is probably a smart idea.

Doreen - sometimes we need a movement day. Good job!

Diane - nice job!

I will get my walk in later. BBL!
