Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for March 2022!!

So I got my blood test back (had my yearly appointment a few weeks back) and it's showing my white and red blood counts are a bit low as well as my hemoglobin is also low. Everything I've researched about this is showing an iron deficiency. Since I don't eat red meat, I get it. However, my doctor calls me (actually her nurse) and tells me I have to get colonoscopy. What? She said I was anemic, and that my doctor wants me to get a colonoscopy. What on earth does one have to do with the other? I sent an email to my doctor directly and asked her to explain. I told her I would start taking an iron supplement and I'd be happy to take another blood test in 6 months to see if it is better. I hope to hear back from her soon. Jolie, anything you might know about this, I'd appreciate you telling me.

Today I walked on my treadmill because my knee was really bothering me yesterday. Today it seems fine. WTF? Sick of this. Anyways, my workout stats were crappy. This Garmin does well with clocking my strength and cardio workouts, but while using the treadmill mode, it doesn't seem to be doing that well.

Workout was 40 minutes, burned only 80 calories (I've never seen it this low even with my FB), went 1.94 miles, did 4776 steps and HR was 70/81. Huh? I was walking on an incline and broke a good sweat. I wonder if it would make a difference if I put it on Walk mode? Maybe it thinks since I'm on a treadmill I should be running? Wish I could!!!

Jolie - Hope you enjoyed your rest day. Can you read the above things I wrote and give me your opinion? Thank you!

Belinda & Doreen - Great workouts

Cam - I am going to watch that workout you did and see how it is set up, I love kickboxing workouts and that one sounds interesting.

Roxie - Good job with your walk, are you excited about the new job?

Diane - Where yo be? Hope you are doing well!!

Roselyn - I hope you are getting some good workouts in!

Have a great day everyone.

This morning I started a new lifting series on IFit by John Peel. He's their main trainer so we'll see how this going. This mornings was slowish but good work with some bands and dumbells.

Debbie-still don’t know if I got the job probably won’t know until the end of the week. Your doctor might think you have some bleeding going on in your rectal track, but I agree a colonoscopy is quite the jump but it probably has more to do with your age they want everyone over the age of 50 to have one I do the cologaurd one.

Roxie - I had one in 2019 and although I had polyps, it was not cancer. If she insists I may do the cologuard thing. I've done that before. I just wish these doctors would consider something other than all these types of invasive tests. I don't agree with them.

Debbie, I just spoke to my dad, and he suggests the following to rectify this situation. You are really in no danger you just need to take a few supplements since you are not a big red meat eater. He said to start taking an Iron 18 mg Essential Mineral by NOW, Ferrochel Iron Bisglycinate, Gentle and Non-Constipating, You can get it on Amazon. Also, add in Bovin Colostrum, another supplement that you can get on Amazon. He said the Colonoscopy has nothing to do with the iron deficiency and that they really do not do a lot of them anymore since they can be very dangerous, they can rip or tear the colon and it can cause a lot of issues. He said that the Colon Gaurd at home test will tell you all you need to know and that you are quite young to have another one since you already had one in 2019. He said to tell you the great thing is you can fix all of this on your own with no drugs. Most doctors do not understand or care to understand the structure and function of the human body and what vitamins and supplements can do for you. Doctors get paid to sell drugs and that is the bottom line.

Today I hand a great walk outside, 4.7 miles through the hills but not up the really steep ones, and I walked for 1 hour 33 minutes and burned 698 calories. My Fitbit is just about to die after 5 years so I just purchased a fitness tracker watch on Amazon, half as much as a Fitbit or Garmin and I hope it works well. I just do not want to spend a lot of money on things like this since I only wear it to workout. I only use the heart rate monitor, calories burned and GPS for miles ect. It looks exactly like an apple watch without the cost. My son called me while I was walking and he just found out he got accepted into the Masters Program for Finance at the University of Nevada so this mom is pretty fired up. He graduates in May with 2 degrees, Finance and Economics and was offered a job in Finance while completing his Masters. This job pays $100K starting, wow!

Debbie, I looked into knee pain and a lot of what i have read about it says to look to your quads, if they are on the weak side, it can cause knee pain. I do not do a lot of leg exercises anymore, so I know my quads have to be weak, thus the knee pain.

Doreen and Belinda, great job on the workouts.

Diane Sue, where are you!?

Make it a great day.

Jolie-the doctors in my area love doing those especially if polyps are found my husband has to have on every 3 years.

I am back. We had a relaxing fun time on our anniversary. Took a walk one of the days. The Inn is on 73 acres with paths and a few benches throughout. Today was an hour and 15 minutes of PT this morning. After lunch I did Boss Loops standing work with warm up and stretch, 27:42 minutes, heart rate 112/139, 112 calories, 1,199 steps. Pt added a bit. He was helping a lady with her foot brace when he had me start the thumbs up lateral raise. I didn't know how many to do so when he was done talking to her, I asked and he told me 20, I told him on was on 30. Funny thing was tracing letters on a poster with a laser pointer. I did well till the really small letters and my extended arm started shaking. He said it was to help with endurance in that reaching position. He told me to take breaks. I am not very good at taking breaks. I generally push through things.

Debbie, I have had two colonoscopies. They sure push those. I put it off for a long time, till I had a medical problem, and they checked every inch of me. I did the Cologuard for a while to put it off. I do not think I have to do any more. I think my doctor said after 70 or something it is not recommended. Same with the pelvic exam. Anyway, if you look it up they do claim some reasons for the colonoscopy to try to figure why bleeding and anemia. I think mostly checking for cancers though. I have pockets that I forget about until I have cramping. Unless you are having some problems, I would personally try to take care of it myself. I have had too much iron in the past and usually buy vitamins without iron. It is normal now though. My son was anemic and the doctor had me give him an iron and b vitamin tonic. I read my labs and research what supplements and dietary changes I need to try to help normalize things. Maybe you can add some foods that will help increase your iron levels. You need to monitor levels as too much iron can be toxic and cause a lot of problems as well. Colostrum helps with leaky gut problems. I used to use Mt Capra as it uses goats milk for that and Capra Flex which is a great overall joint supplement although rather expensive, except you get a lot of ingredients together like collagen, goats milk mineral ALC, calcium, anti-inflammatories, and enzymes. I wish Amazon still had it in stock. I was just thinking of it as I read Jolies post. I have purchased it a lot of times. They have it on Vitacost. Maybe you should just do cardio mode and see how it works on your Garmin.

Doreen, it looks like you are getting a nice variety of workouts with these trainers. Nice work today.

Roxie, every three years would not be pleasant for a colonoscopy. I hope you get something on the job soon.

Jolie, that is great news for you and your son. I bet your son is stoked. Graduating with two degrees is awesome. My daughter got to work in a law office while finishing up and passing the bar. So, she was set with a nice job right off. We are all really proud of her. Doctors seem to pretty much go along with the drug route. I have had a couple of them that would occasionally suggest a supplement. I usually tell them know on the med or walk out with a prescription and put it in the shredder. I do have a Statin sitting in the cupboard that will need to be rid of one of these days as I refuse to take it. I was told it was plant based and worked well for many patients. 3 tries, swollen sore tongue and feeling like my throat was closing off was enough to say no way. Cardiologist has left me alone on that one when I told him I was not using it. I think though that there are times when the drugs are definitely needed. We try our best and if it means ruining your life then yes to meds. I do take my med for RA, but I still try to keep it down and use supplements that help. When there is no cure, you do the best that you can.

Good Evening,

I went for a walk 2.4 miles and BeachBody Job1 Back,Glutes & Core. Waiting on storms to hit tonight. Tomorrow we are headed to our oldest GS track meet and it’s supposed to be cold and wet.

I spent so long working on my online grocery shopping through my rebate app and accidentally pushed pick up groceries instead of delivery for 8 in the morning. I tried to change to delivery and it said I could not do that. Only thing I had was 1 chance to change the time, so picking up at the Walmart up the street from PT after 12 o'clock. I thought things looked differently using my tablet through the Ibotta app. I guess it threw me off. Irritating as I did not want to go to Walmart even if I am sitting in the parking lot. I have had a hard time getting oatmeal for pick up or delivery. Not sure why. I ended up ordering a 4 # box from Amazon. This will be my second time doing that. Weird thing is I picked up Kodiak oatmeal cups before I left town when I went in the store. I couldn't find dried cranberries in Walmart the last two visits. My granddaughter was going to get me some by her. Odd things imo to be low on. They did have instant packets. My husband would need 4 packets for breakfast. I like substance to mine. Even the steel cut oats packets I like were gone and Amazon has them for 19.99!! Not paying that much! I have steel cut Bobs red mill oats. I will make myself the overnight oats again with protein powder and stuff added. I just warm that up before I go to PT.

Belinda, nice work with SB TTT today.

Roxie, I always hoped it would not be cold when we went to watch the children's sports events. We have rain that will be coming in in the next couple of hours. They have been forecasting severe weather and last I looked it seems it will just be rain for 3 or 4 hours. I am hoping for no storms tomorrow like they first said.

Roselyn, good job on the trampoline workout today.

Hi all, my husband's brother passed away yesterday, I am heartbroken. I was very close to him as I am with his other brother as well. We do everything together and I'm still in shock. He had a massive heart attack at work and according to his co-workers, it was only a 3 minute ordeal and he was gone. My husband is not taking it well at all and I just can't believe he's gone. He is 6 months younger than I am. We didn't even know he had heart issues. Please say a prayer for my family.

Needless to say I didn't workout this morning. Had all intentions on doing so, but couldn't bring myself to do anything. I'm at work but not sure I will stay all day.

Jolie - Thank you for the advice, I will follow it. My doctor said I have Normocytic Normochromic Anemia. When you look it up it does say it could be caused by internal bleeding. I'm still going to take supplements and see if my counts go up. I might do the Cologuard, my doctor is sending me one.

I will be back later to read your posts. I am just not feeling up to reading everything right now.

Good morning,

Debbie - my heart goes out to you and your family. I am so sorry for your loss.

Today I did SBF UB that's it.

I will be back later.

Debbie, I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers coming your way for you and your husband's family. This is such a tragedy, someone dying young is heart breaking. Please give your hubby a hug from me!

Today is going to be a rest day. I am very tired; I had a poor night's sleep, and I am sore all over. Sometimes you just have to rest instead of pushing through the soreness.

Diane Sue, I am so glad that you had a great trip! Great job on the PT lately, it looks like you are improving fast now.

Roxie, I hope you get the job!

Belinda, nice job on the UB workout today.

Roselyn, I have never done a trampoline workout, I know Belinda uses one and I am curious about doing a workout like that to see how my joints like it.

Doreen, I hope you get in a great workout today.

Prayers for Debbie's family.

Debbie, I am so sorry for your loss. I will be praying for your family.

Today I went to PT and he added more strength. He had me do standing rows with the weight machine. The weight plate was 5#, but I think the handles are probably 3# or so. Not sure how much total. It was nice to move up from the tubing that is pretty easy. He also had me do the weighted bar pullover with straight arms as well as lateral raises at an angle with dumbbells, and lying rotations for the shoulder with a dumbbell. So I am moving up some more on improving.

Belinda, nice work with SB upper body today.

Jolie, enjoy the rest day.

Today I did DC Fit 60 min. Full Body Strength & Cardio. I liked it and my muscles are feeling the fatigue.

Debbie, so sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and your husband.

Diane, you are doing great. Are you in less pain now? Tomorrow, it will be a year since my surgery. I can't believe how fast the time has gone.

Time to take the dog for a quick walk.

Thanks everyone, we are slowly pulling through. What a horrible thing to go through. I never expected losing a brother so soon in life. Well, brother-in-law, but he was in all sense of the word, my brother.

Today I did RAW 4 Day Split Bi's and Tri's and had a good workout. I usually add the heavy bag finisher but today I just walked on my treadmill a bit. Didn't feel like punching this morning.

This workout was 1 minute for each exercise/10 second rest. This was a great, intense workout.

Biceps
Supinated Curls
: 15's
W Curl to Rotate to Front: 12's
Hammer Curls: 15's (slow 4 counts up and down)
Bicep burnout w/Tube - I don't like tubing exercises because it seems like they really put a strain on my elbows for some reason. I used 5's and just did a burnout set that way)
Repeat

Triceps
Overhead Extension
: 15#
Kickbacks: 5's
Dips
Kickbacks w/Tubing
- Same as above, used 5's and did kickback runners
Repeat

Then walked on my treadmill for about 20 minutes. Total workout was 46 minutes, burned 404 calories, did 2962 steps and HR was 135/167.

Jolie - My doctor said I have Normocytic Normochromic anemia. Should that be treated the same way with iron? I am going to do the Cologuard and see if anything is abnormal there, but even if there is, I really don't want another colonoscopy. I feel the same way, it's invasive and I've heard of so many people getting infections afterwards. I have been eating things I shouldn't be eating, like nuts, strawberries and corn. I will just stop eating those things and maybe it will clear up. So fun getting old. Congrats about your son, that is awesome!!!

Diane - I'm glad you had a nice and relaxing anniversary weekend, that is great!! My husband and I will celebrate 26 years in April. Not sure if we are doing anything yet. Also, I'm so glad to hear how well you are doing with your PT, that is awesome!!! You really do know how to push yourself. So happy for you!

Roxie - What happened about your Sephora job? I thought you were supposed to start in May? So sorry to hear that.

Great job with your workouts everyone! Have a great day.
