Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for March 2022!!

PT was over an hour today. A lot is getting pretty easy and he was making note of that. He change angle on one stretch and boy does that one hurt. He gave it a bit longer rests between stretching though. I came home and used my ice wrap and had lunch. Tomorrow I have to be there at 9.

Debbie, yes, I did have the surgery. The surgeon said there was a lot more arthritis in that knee that he expected. It was quite some time of having knee pain and researching before I made the decision to go ahead with it. Two months post-surgery I was getting back into workouts. He told me to cross train. I think that I was sort of doing that anyway. I still think though that if I gave it a lot longer rest it may have healed itself. Even after it hurt some and he gave me an injection. It would off and on hurt and sometimes my knee would give out when getting up out of a chair and sitting. This was after surgery. That finally quit happening though. It is nice when there is time to do a whole stretch video. Kelly does do some good stretches. I was hoping to do some cardio and stretching today, but the changes in PT messed me up. I always need to ice and give my shoulder and arm some time to get past the spasms of the deep stretching. Maybe Saturday? I will be going to PT early tomorrow, and my husband will be off so I will see if I can do something. I would like to do some band work, or Fit Tower for lower body that is standing.

Roxie, enjoy getting your hair done. I need to color mine, but refuse to wash my hair and fix it in the mornings and come back from appointments to do it. Maybe Saturday I can do it. I will check out Leslie Grace. I used to buy MAC singles, but I quit buying their stuff. I did not like things they were supporting. I also used to buy Aromaleigh (sp) products and liked that I could get samples of colors to try at a small cost so I did not waste so much money. They were all loose minerals though and I was forever having lids work there way off and shadow spilled all over the place.

Belinda, that is wonderful that you have a primary that is on top of all your meds and health problems. I read a lot of those NIH reports and studies. It seems to take forever even getting studies started. I am always reading some short studies and what maybe works, and not enough evidence for this or that yet. Some find things that may be promising, but they need to do the studies. There is much to the processes like funding and approval. I hope that you can get into the study.
I will check out the video. I am glad that your knee if feeling somewhat better today.

Doreen, nice work with the 30 minute workout and walking your dog today.

Jolie, that is great that the chiropractor found out was was causing everything. I have been using several supplements, most from Life Extension, for Bone health. I want to heal well and quickly. I read up on calcium and Rheumatoid arthritis, heart, and suggestion is to not take one large dose of the calcium at one time as the body does not know what to do with the excess and that is how it gets deposited in the arteries. I had been worried about taking it. So, I am using the Life Extension Bone Restore which has K2 and taking a tablet several times a day. Also, I add a Pure Encapsulations magnesium glycinate at night. I am also trying to get gut health back after all of the meds, ibuprofen, and unhealthy food. So, I have stuff for that and trying to find the right foods that does not come back up my throat when I cough. I am sort of a mess right not. My blood pressure keeps going up and I am taking blood pressure support supplement. I am so dreading my cardiovascular appointment next Wednesday. I already refused the statin. He was not really happy about that. I tried and my throat swelled up. So nope. My daughter says he will want to give blood thinners and I would not find that as a good idea either. My blood is generally thin from diet and supplements. I am afraid of them. My dad had so much of them that when he had the brain bleed, they could not do surgery because it was too thin, and we lost him.
Too bad natural holistic practitioners and chiros are not covered by insurance.

Just took a 2 mile walk after work and a good mobility stretch. I have to say doing a good stretch a couple times per week has been a game changer for me. I never used to spend much time stretching in my past other than a few minutes after my workout. But it has made a difference. I really have felt good, especially after sitting at a desk most of the day. I am no longer stiff.

Diane, you are making great progress. Sounds like you have a good PT.

Hope everyone heals soon! STRETCH!!

I did a 25 mintue bike with Joey Mantia - he's one of the new trainers in the Olympic trainer series on Ifit - and gosh - he's a cutie!! He has some strength workouts too which are now in my schedule to do too!! He's a speed skater but you can tell he's more familiar with riding the bike as a workout. As far as I can tell he doesn't have a disability - he just mostly talked about getting into the sport as a young kid and how he fell in love with it.

I have been crazy busy today. Now I'm getting ready for a county spelling bee.

This morning I did RAW 4 Day Split Day 4 - Shoulders and Legs but only did shoulders:

1 minute each exercise repeating the circuit once

Shoulder Press: 10's
Lateral Raise: 8's
Front Raise: 8's
Bent over Lateral Raise: 10's (30 seconds)
Repeat

Then I walked on my treadmill for about 35 minutes. Good workout.

Gotta go, still going crazy here today! Have a great weekend everyone!

Today PT was not so bad as I expected, after yesterday. Yesterday I iced all day and woke hurting at 3 am this morning and grabbed a gel ice pack and went back to bed. The back of my shoulder is getting a lot of work and my traps get sore and really tight which causes neck pain. I got up 3 hours later and did stretching and rolled on the traps a bit. Felt better by the time I left the house at 8:30 to do it again. Today I could even get my arms up and down laterally from the front in a rainbow touching fingertips:). Progress is good. Most of the stretching deeper was tolerable, other than he has moved to another angle of a rotated stretch which really hurts. Also he has me using the weighted bar to push the arm at that same angle ahead of it. Was really hurting when I got home, but I iced. Worked on the knots and then took a nap as last night I did not sleep well. I am better now. I talked to the PT about cardio. I told him the surgeons PA that I see said I could use the spin bike and told me to ask the PT what I was ready for. The PT said the Tread climber would be fine. I mentioned the step without using the arm and he said things like that would be fine too. He said as far as arm movement I can move it as I feel I can as I am well along on the healing process.

Debbie, nice work today. I hope the spelling be goes well today. Brings back thought of when my older daughter won the spelling B when she was 10. We have a newspaper picture of her.

Cam, I think we learn later on how important stretching is. I have always done something, where I would see others totally skip stretching as a waste of time. I did used to save time by combining workouts with one warm up and one stretch, whereas I usually do all of it now. Not a waste of time at all.

Doreen, listening to the stories the athletes have would make the workouts more interesting. Nice work.

Jolie, how are you doing today?

Good evening,

Today I walked over 2 miles outside and did POWER CARDIO Workout // Day 44 HR12WEEK 2.0. I did her modify version.

I am going to try to catch up on personals. I am taking a vegan culinary course that was in the bundle.

Great job everyone.

Tonight I did IMax 4. I liked it. It has been awhile since I have done a Cathe step routine. I think next time i will have the flow down and work it a little more. I only used one set of risers, but this perfect for me since I can't do too much bouncing. It fulfills my step cardio needs.

Take care everyone!

This morning I did the upper body workout with Joey Mantia - even he joked about not really doing upper body workouts for his sport (speed skating) - he focuses more on lower body stuff- and you can tell -his legs are built!! It was a good workout - he kept it moving with supersets done 4 times through with only a break after the 4 rounds - so with the right weights it could be tough - I had to adjust to find the right weight by end of round 4 I was feeling it!

This morning I did CDorner Basic Step easy follow from Feb 28, 132 bpm. 33 minutes, 151 calories, heartrate 117/148, 2420 steps. I also did Boss Loops Glutes and core mix no floor and just part of core. I modified some,32 minutes, 129 calories, heartrate 113/141, 1,213 steps.
Total time 65 minutes, 280 calories, 3,633 steps.
I am getting ready to go to lunch with my husband.

This morning I did PHA 3. I think this is my favorite Cathe workout. I slow down the reps a bit for arms, especially compound movements, but that is a great workout. 60 here today. Busy day and enjoying weather. Hope everyone is having a good Saturday!

Sorry I have been MIA the last few days, my computer had a virus and I had to take it in to get fixed. I have been doing light workouts each day as follows:

Friday- 1 mile walk on the TM with an upper body circuit.
Saturday, same as Friday and a PT appointment.
Sunday, same as previous days.

I feel like I am getting back to normal slowly, but I am caucus not to aggravate my back and muscles again.

I have one last PT appointment tomorrow and I am excited to go. I love all of this stretching they have me doing!

Happy Sunday.

Today I did Perfect HIIT Low Impact + Bonus Pyramid + Extended Stretch. I didn't know this dvd has a bonus step hiit. I kept the step portion to 1 set of risers and slowed down the moves a little so it wasn't jarring. It was a fabulous workout and I was sweating and breathing hard. Cathe knows how to do low impact the best. I also liked that it was all standing.

Jolie, glad you are doing better. Isn't it a amazing how a good stretching makes you feel? Like I've said, if only my older self could have told my younger self to stretch more, I think I would have saved myself some aches and pains.

Diane, that's great that you are able to do some stepping and toning. Just be careful not to trip on the step.

Belinda, good workout!

Take Care Everyone!

This morning I only had a short time to workout because I had to be at work early for a meaningless meeting. Hate when that happens.

I did RAW Heavy Bag & Shadow Boxing and did almost 30 minutes of it. I did what I had time for and had a pretty good workout. I really like this one, it's the one where Kelly's son, Zach, works out out with her.

I did 26 minutes of the workout and burned 217 calories. Did about 2061 steps and HR was 147/182. I don't think my HR hit anywhere near 182, that is sprinting HR zones and I don't think I ever saw that when I was running. Sigh....

Nice workouts everyone, Jolie - I'm glad you are seeing improvement.

I don't have much time for personals today because I'm leaving early to take my mom to a doctor appointment. Hopefully I can catch up with you all tomorrow! Have great workouts everyone!

I did the lower body workout by Joey Mantia on Ifit today. It was really pretty good - AMRAP 30 seconds, 2 moves, 5 rounds. Basic moves like sumo deadlift, curtsy lunge, goblet squat, good mornings, calf raises.

His thighs are huge but he says he really doesn't do weight lifting in speed skating. They will do some "dry land" exercises but he says mostly plyometrics. Very interesting!

Today I have my last PT appointment and I am sad that it is coming to an end. I have learned a lot and love the stretching and how good I feel afterwards. I did get on the TM this morning and walked 2 miles on a flat incline, if I walk on an incline right now it irritates the muscles in my back, so I will walk on a flat surface for a while. This week I plan on walking and doing my own upper body workouts so I can avoid exercises that hurt my back. I am so happy that I am feeling better, but I still have a little nerve pain in my right leg when I wake up in the morning. I have noticed that it is on the side that I sleep on.

Gas has hit $6 per gallon in my area, it can go as high as $10 per gallon! FJB! My husband has to commute for work!

Debbie, great job on the short workout today, just doing something is better than nothing.

Doreen, interesting workout today!

BBL to read the other posts for the day. Happy Monday.

This morning I did Kelly's Power Splits Upper Body workout. This was the one I did a while ago that really triggered tightness in my traps again. I was very careful and did not do the seated rows, I think that is what did that to my traps. I lowered my weights on most of the exercises but still had a great workout. I like this one.

3 sets of 50 seconds on/10 seconds off (although I rested a bit longer between some of the exercises)

Incline Chest Press: 20's
Incline Triceps Extension: 10's
Incline Alternate Row: 15's (I did standing alternate rows and only did 2 sets)
Shoulder Press: 12's/12's/10's
Hammer Curls: 15's

Kickboxing Finisher - did not use any hand weights with this

Workout was 38 minutes, burned 274 calories, did 1733 steps and HR was 134/169. Good workout.

Jolie - Glad you are doing better, just take it easy until that pain is gone. Even only lifting upper body can cause strain on the back. Just be careful! I also need to stretch more and I say this all the time but never do it. I thik that is the key in staying pain free. If I could only work it into everything else I want to do when I workout, I'd be good. I am planning on doing a stretch workout tomorrow after I walk a mile but I really need to do it more than just once a week. My body obviously needs it. I just don't have that kind of time in the morning and I'd rather burn calories than sit and stretch. I know everyone pretty much relates to that. Our gas has hit $4.09 here. Unheard of. I can't wait for summer so I can just ride my motorcycle. It's to the point where we are working to fill up our tanks. Thanks Biden. And I don't care what anyone says, it isn't what's going on in Russia/Ukraine that is causing this - this started the second Biden got into office. Another smoke and mirros to deflect the real reason we are so screwed. One good thing, though, Covid and Fauci are gone. Thanks God!

Roselyn - Nice job with your workout. I wanted to get out Gym Style this week but they are so long. I just don't have over an hour to workout anymore. :(

Belinda - Have fun with your DD. Nice job with your workout yesterday!!

Doreen - Interesting stuff on the trainers you are working out to. They have some interesting backgrounds.

Diane - Hope you are doing ok. Great job with your last couple of workouts but be careful. I'm sure you are!! I'm just glad to see you moving again. :)

Roxie & Cam - Hope you girls are doing well!

Have a great day everyone!

This morning was a 30 minute interval ride with Joey Mantia, the speed skater. I like him - I hope he does more workouts. This was tough because my legs are a bit sore from yesterday's leg workout!!

We finally have the fence back up in the back yard so I can let the pup out without being on a tether!
