Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for January 2023

We stayed up late last night with my son as he was leaving to head back to college this morning. I still woke early anyway and hopped on my Ifit and did part 1 of the Oregon Gran Fondo race which was about 14 miles and 1 hour. Then I took a short walk with the dog and hubby before diving into cleaning up the basement workout area. I pulled an old stero cabinet that hasn't worked in years out of the corner and moved my shelf of workout DVDs into the corner to free up some space. I need to do more cleaning/organizing but I ran out of steam for today. I need to purge some workout gear that I don't use anymore because no one does videos with all the "toys" anymore like Cathe used to do! LOL!

This morning I did CDorner Step #263 Advanced Fast 50 minutes, heart rate 115/140,210 calories, 4,642 steps. I then did her new After Step//aerobics cool... 19 minutes (actual 17), 33 calories, heart rate 79/92. Total lories 243, 69 minutes. This step workout was the third progression of the step workout she did this week.

Diane - I need to get back into step... I love it but now that I have to walk the dog daily it seems like I should be doing something else with my workout time instead of getting steps!! But the one you did seems fun!

I did a quick 20 minute rowing workout this morning. It's supposed to be nice so I may try to go out for a bike ride later... and probably a walk with the dog.

No workout today. It is a rest day.

Doreen, that was a fun step workout. The walks with your dogs are probably good for you and your dog. Mine leaves the room when I get out the step. She doesn't like being nudged out of the way and sometimes she has had the experience over the years of coming up behind me and me running into her. She waits till the step is up and comes back. I love step and Chris does a good job on most of her step workouts.

Belinda. nice work getting in your weights doing the iron series workouts and also keeping up walks and stretching.

Jolie, I bet the walk on the beach was nice. I have been hearing about the rains in California. Funny your boys were out enjoying the waves. Nice work yesterday as well.

Cam, nice work with Penny circuits.

Today I did Michelle 35 min Strength & Cardio Hiit. It was a good little workout that packed a punch. My right knee has been a little wonky lately, so I may decide to do shorter workouts this week. I'll see how it goes.

Its football time! It's do or die for the Packers tonight. It doesn't matter. They will get their clocks cleaned if they make the 1st round of the playoffs anyway.

Diane, how was that step workout? I liked the 2nd part last week. It was fun!

Belinda, I wonder if Caroline will go to paid subscription? She has been quiet. I thought she would announce something by now.

Today I decided to do Body Beast Build for the week and to do less cardio and walking because my feet are sore from all of the miles I have put in lately. I ordered new running shoes, and they should arrive by the end of the week. My feet really ache when my shoes get too many miles on them, they break down and give me less support and cushion. Today I did Body Beast Bulk Arms and had an excellent workout. I added ABS and PT exercises at the end of the workout too. Total workout time was 56 minutes and I burned 363 calories. I returned my new FitBit because it would not read my heart rate or sync with my phone. I am using my old Fitbit but it does not hold a charge for long. I have to look for a new fitness tracker, but which ones work the best? Garmin? Which model?

Great job on the workouts yesterday to everyone that did it!

Diane Sue, I am going to re arrange my gym room to give me more space so I can do some step workouts too! I miss doing my Yvette Bachman workouts a few times per month.

Doreen, great job cleaning up your gym room and getting rid of stuff you are not using. I did that when I moved, and I was kind of bummed that I got rid of some dvds because now I think I would like to do them again.

I hope you all have great workouts today!

I only had time to walk on my treadmill for 20 minutes because I had to go in early. Hate when I have to do that.

Jolie - I love my Garmin and I have the Venu Sq - you can see the difference in my calorie burns versus what my FB used to read. I only walked 20 minutes this morning and my Garmin said I burned 232 calories. My FB would have been below 100. Great job on your workout!!

Gotta get back to work, I have an art show to set up. This one is for all our art teachers. So fun!!

Have a great day everyone!!

Lower body workout

I had my annual mammogram and i have to go back for an ultrasound:( my report said probable cyst but I am a mess I have an appoitment for january 19 . send some prayers for calmness for me

Today I did CDorner Step and Strength that she did today, 52 minutes, heart rate 112/150, 203 calories. (actual time was 45 minute as I wrote down the moves) 2,873 steps. I then did CDorner Legs and Abs with fabric bands, 29 minutes, 83 calories, heart rate 95/115, 483 steps. I finished with Stretch after Step again. This was 17 minutes, but my Garmin battery ran down and it shut down the pulse ox and stopped, so I had to run and plug it in to save the workout. 30 calories burned.
Total time was 99 minutes, 316 calories, 3,356 steps.
The legs and abs started with standing movements side to side walks, forward back in a low stance which made my dog get excited and go get her bone to chew on, then floor was bridges with pulses, with band and stuff without the band. My hip flexors were burning when doing the lower ab work. The ab work was all pretty much for isolating lower abs.

Step and Strength Good music for the most part
w/u
step cardio
step knee up/down/lunge/curl 8# dbs
pulse lunge/ curl/ press 8# dbs
step cardio
squat/revers lunge/front raise 5# dbs
plank/ knees to chest/drop to knees or not/2 push-ups no weight
dead row 10# dbs
curtsy/lunge off step/ lateral raise alternating sides 5# dbs
vertical step cardio
holding dumbbell curtsy lunge across step and back 10# db

plie squat/overhead extension (option just do kickbacks) 10# db
step lateral leg raises with arms raised overhead
plank hold
step lateral leg raise
plank with feet close together
lying on step revers crunch
lying knees over hips pressure hold on knees

Cam, nice work with Michelle Cardio and Strength Hiit. I liked the 3rd progressions of that workout a lot. She points out that if you don't want to do a move, you can do the one on the previous versions.

Roselyn, nice work doing upper body.

Doreen, nice work with Supersets Upper Body with Chris Freytag.

Jolie, great workout. Nice work with Body Beast Bulk Arms. I should do more slow rep strength workouts. I was reading that with Arthritis is best to avoid fast repetitive movements. It seems lately I am pressed for time a lot. I love my Garmin and whenever I need to replace it I will get another Garmin. Mine is the Vivoactive 4S. It is a larger one. I think that Debbie got one of the newer ones. I have had mine for over 2 years now. The S is the smaller one of the Vivoactive 4. I love doing step workouts. I barely have enough room in the room I work out in the most. My secondary workout room has a ceiling fan and not enough room to workout away from the fan. There is a ceiling fan in the attic that I think was originally in the one I do step in.

Debbie, that would be fun setting up for a art show. At least you were able to get a little movement in before you went to work. You probably get a lot more steps setting up.

Good Evening,

I did LiiFT 4 WK1 D1 Chest/Triceps and Abs plus a 1.20 mile walk on the treadmill. Stepped on the scale yesterday and I wasn’t happy so time to get serious.

Good morning,

sorry for not checking in yesterday. Yesterday I saw the allergist, he doesn't think my runny noise are allergies. He ran an allergy test on the skin, I got poked 47 times. I am allergic to mold, no other allergies.

I had a CT scan done on Friday. My ENT called me about the results. My left sinus is blocked. She wants me to take antibiotic and steroids. She also mention seeing a sinus specialist for possible surgery. I had surgery on my sinus in Germany. I been having problems ever since.

Yesterday ended up being a rest day.

Roselyn - I will keep you in my prayers.

I will be back later to catch up on personals.

This morning I did Kelly's Power Splits Upper Body workout. I had a good workout, was sweating by the end.

3 sets each exercise, one at a time - 50 seconds on/10 seconds off (although I rested a bit longer between exercises)

Incline Chest Press: 20's
Incline Triceps Extension: 10's
Incline Alternate Row: 15's
Shoulder Press: 12's
Hammer Curls: 15's

Kickboxing Finisher - Used 1.5# Egg Weights

I also did about .5 miles on the treadmill to get a bit more steps in. Total workout was 52 minutes, burned 460 calories did 3039 steps and HR was 138/186.

Jolie - How is that bump on your collar? Is it gone now? I hope so, that would be great!! Nice job with Beast, I really want to do those workouts again but just don't want to hear the chatter with those guys.

Roselyn - You'll be fine, keep a good thought! I'm praying for you.

Diane - I turned off my Pulse OX because I had to keep charging my watch every other day. That is ridiculous. Plus if I need to see what it is I can just turn it on for a day or two and get a reading. I hated charging it so frequently. Nice job on your workout!! I did get more steps setting up the art show. It didn't take long, though, because there were only 8 teachers and they only brought 3 pieces and some only 1. Oh well, at least some of the teachers participated.

Roxie - Love the LiiFT series, those are fun workouts!!

Doreen - Nice workout

Cam - I'm not a football fan anymore, too much drama and $$$ they get paid to lose. Especially the Browns. They embarrass us every year.
Have a great day everyone!!

Belinda - I'm so sorry to hear that, you poor thing. I sure hope you have a better 2023 than you did 2022 healthy-wise. Prayers to you.

Have a great workout day everyone!!!!

Today I had an excellent workout, and my feet are not sore anymore from all of the walking over the weekend. I started with an uphill walk on the TM, not has high of an incline as last week, I need to work up to that steep of an incline over time. TM walk was 45 minutes, traveled 2.4 miles and burned 301 calories. I noticed that my calorie burns are down a lot since about 8 months ago, it has to do with my blood pressure back to where it should be. If you have high blood pressure, exercising is harder on the heart, so it increases the heart rate and calorie burn. I am glad to have it back to where it should be, I have so much more energy! Next, I did Body Beast Bulk Shoulders and did really good with it. Total workout time was 80 minutes and I burned 481 calories.

Lateral Raise - Superset to
5's x 15
8's x 12
10's x 8
Arnold Press seated-
10's x 15
12's x 12
15's x 8
12's x 8

Upright Rows Progressive Set-
10's x 15
12's x 12
15's x 8
15's x 8
12's x 12
10's x 15 (these damn near killed me today)

Alternating Front Raise seated- Superset to
5's x 15
8's x 12
10's x 8
Plate Front Raise with a twist-
10# x 10
10# x 10
10# x 10

Rear Flys- (went light for my collarbone issue)
5's x 15
8's x 12
10's x 8
10's x 8
8's x 12
5's x 15

I skipped the AB portion since I did them yesterday.

Debbie, great job on the workout today, it looks like a great one! I will look into the Garmin, I just found my cheap one I got on Amazon, and it is working ok for now. I do want to get a good watch so I suppose I will get the Garmin next time since you have had good luck with it. The lump on my collarbone has gone down a lot and the pain is going away. I massage it every day, I knew it was connected to Fascia issues instead of what the doctors think it is, I swear they can never get it right! I am going to get the MRI on Saturday just to make sure there is no tear or anything bad so I can go full steam ahead with my workouts.

Roselyn, if they think it is a cyst, that is good news. Cysts are not as bad as a mass, but I will be praying for you every day. I am sure you will be fine, but I know how stressful it is to have to wait for results.

Belinda, sorry to hear about your sinus issue.

Cam, I love football but now I am more a fan of college football since my son and all of his friends have played. Also, I am a tennis freak!!! Great job with the workout!

Roxie, way to go with the workout yesterday. I like those workouts; I should pull them out again.

Diane Sue, thanks for the info on the watch I will be looking into getting one soon. I am enjoying Body Beast, I love the format and the slow pace. Also, I like how motivating he is, he can really get me to lift what I should be lifting, and I do not wimp out!

Doreen, good job on the workout.

Really wet and rainy in CA this year. We are not getting half as bad as northern CA thank goodness. At least the drought will be gone! Make it a terrific day!

I am back: I did Iron D21 Legs

I picked up today the antibiotic and prednisone. I couldn't pick up the meds yesterday, my ENT had to confirm with my rheumatologist if I could take another round of prednisone. I also made an appointment for the 17th with the sinus specialist (Rhinologists). I have an appointment for the steroid shot for my shoulder, I probably have to cancel that one. Tomorrow I have an appointment with my doctor, I will discuss it with him.

I will be back later.

Belinda sorry about your sinus issues :(

I saw my ob today she said the report says an ovoid shape so she said usually means a cyst but they cannot assume I go next thursday. I may call and check for cancellations but my doc said in the medical world that is not too bad :/

so i did a liile leg work i was still so anxious i could not concentrate

Debbie - thank you! I will see the sinus specialist (Rhinologists) on the 17th. Taking to my ENT today, she thinks I need this surgery to prevent further problems. I had something similar in 2009, I ended up in surgery. I do believe the surgeon in Germany didn't do a good job back then. I have so many problems with my sinus. Technically, this infection carries over from last year :) I am still positive this year will be a better one. My doctors are concerned I stay on my 2 autoimmune meds while I am fighting this blocked sinus. I can't get off MTX or I will end up with flairs for months. I am so grateful for my team of doctors. I have the steroid injections scheduled on the 17th too. I probably have to cancel that one until I am done with all my meds.

Roselyn - thank you. I will keep you in my prayers. How's the grand baby doing?

Jolie - thank you. Great job today.

Good Evening,

I did LiiFT 4 Back and Biceps plus core then walked on the treadmill for 35 minutes did 1.41 miles.
