Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for January 2021

I forgot to mention the house hunting isn’t going well we have seen 5 now. Our Monday and Wednesday evenings are spent looking

Hi everyone,

I did SBF Outer Glutes + Outer Hips = 33 mim. I also did Active/Relax Stretch = 15 min. Suzanne posted a hip opener today, I also did that one.

Yesterday I got my computer back from Apple. Not happy with UPS, he just left my computer on the front porch. A signature was required. The UPS signed for it, WTH? I am not happy with UPS. Yesterday was also freezing temperatures outside.

Roxie - sorry the house hunting isn't going well. I hope you find something soon.

Good night.

This morning I did RAW Intervals 3 and had a great workout. This one is a short one with no warmup so I did the warmup from RAW Heavy Bag & Cardio. I like that warmup although it is not very long but just enough to get things warmed up a bit.

I used 3's, 5's, 8's and 10's depending on the exercises. Wanted to be extra care with my shoulders and upper back.

Total workout with the warmup was 30 minutes, burned 181 calories, did 2320 steps and HR was 118/163.

Then I walked on my treadmill for about 15 minutes. Nothing much stat-wise so I won't even bother to write it down.

I received a waffle maker for Christmas from my mom and I tried making vegan waffles on it. Supposedly the waffle grids are non-stick. Well, it didnt seem like they were. The stupid waffles stuck to both waffle irons and made such a mess. I couldn't get them off and they just broke apart. The 2nd batch I added a bit of oil and still, they stuck like crazy. So I'm not sure if it is the waffle maker itself or the recipe I used. Next weekend I will make normal waffles and see how they come out. I was bummed.

I don't have time for personals, but great job on all your workouts since Friday!! Getting some great workouts in!!

Today I did Raw Cardio Crush 2, 33 minutes, heart rate 138/165, 3,399 steps. I then did Raw Upper Body Weight, 32 minutes, heart rate 89/122, 468 steps, 53 calories, I finished with Perfect 30 Flow Mobility Basics timesaver stretch, 20 minutes, heart rate 82/92, 34 steps, 19 calories. This is my favorite for stretching mix on this dvd, other than the jumping to the brief stretch in the squat position where it cuts off to the next move. Total time was 85 minutes, 260 calories, 3,901 steps. I had not done this upper body workout yet. Now I remember why as I had previewed and the moves are not real upper back and shoulder friendly. We will see how I feel later. It ended up not being a relaxing weekend. We had 3 different lookers at our house so spent quite awhile out with our dog Gertie. We even walked through a couple of houses that we wanted to see and had open houses. Anyway I had to get things ready and put up things we use all of the time. I hate showing my house.

Upper Body Weights 32 minutes(approx) 8# and 12# dumbbells used. Exercises are done for 1 minute each move is done and then repeated superset style

Triceps 8# dbs overhead extension 17 reps and 17 reps
kickbacks 29 and 33 reps

Shoulders 8# dbs lateral raise 15 reps and 17 reps
front raise alternating and some doubles 8# dbs 17 and 16 reps

Back 12# dbs step back row 16 reps and 19 reps
high pull 12# dbs 17 reps and 17 reps

Chest pullover/fly 12# dbs 10 reps and 10 reps
bench press 12# dbs 16 reps and 15 reps

abs crunch 30 reps and 30 reps
bicycle 72 reps and 72 reps

Debbie, I have had two different waffle irons that are non stick and at least the first batch sticks. Part of it is getting the waffle iron hot enough before putting the batter in and part of it is how much oil and if eggs are added. Generally with regular waffles first kind of sticks and second comes out fine. Have to make sure you bake long enough too. I hate when I open it too soon and haflt the waffle is stuck on either side. Cooking sprays make the waffle iron stick worse as it tends to become gummy and does not want to come off with soap and water. Not much help here I guess. Good choice for a workout today!

Today I will not be working out, sadly, I did not get great sleep. A storm rolled in and it rained so hard, but OMG the wind!!! I thought a huge tree on a hill next to my house was going to fall on my bedroom, I was stressed the whole night and did not sleep a wink. Needless to say, I am tired. On a positive note, Tom Brady is going to the Super Bowl again!!!! Football all day yesterday and had the best day even though I took a rest day from working out.

Great workouts today Debbie and Diane!

BBL to read your posts for the day.

Hi everyone,

I did SBF Day 15 TB Barre 1 = 33 min. DD joint me early this morning. Than I did CL# 331 Opposites Attract = 57 min. Fantastic workout. The workout was SS and high reps. Loved it!

Yesterday I zoomed with both my sisters and their families in Germany. Not sure why, we haven't done this before :( DAH? It was nice seeing and talking to them through zoom. We decided to do it more regularly.

Debbie - sorry about the mess you had to clean up. Great job this morning.

Jolie - sorry the storm/winds kept you up all night long. Hope you get a good night sleep tonight.

Diane - glad everything went well with she showing. I completely understand you hating showing your house. Hope you sell it soon.

Waving Hi to everyone that checks in after me. Have a wonderful day.

I got my Withings Connect blood pressure monitor today along with the travel case. It was super easy to set up and I can use it without my phone being nearby over wifi instead of blue tooth. I will start monitoring daily in the evening before bed when I am relaxed per doctors office. The instructions suggest the relaxed feet on the floor, no talking, or moving around as well. I checked it out earlier though and it was slightly under my reading on Friday at the doctor. I am taking the Peak Pure and Natural Cardio Platinum supplement and I think it may be helping because the Arthritis Center was higher two weeks ago than the Cardiovascular doctor and now from Friday it has dropped a bit more. Also tightening up my fat intake and diet. Only thing is, my weight is already dropping back down where it was and I am not wanting to lose weight.

Belinda, nice work yesterday and today. Great that your daughter was able to join you today. That is lousy service with the your computer. I had Whole Foods leave groceries yesterday and was worried we would not get home since people were viewing our house. Luckily we were home though as they sat all 9 paper grocery bags next to the doorstep instead of where there was cover and it was drizzling outside. The bags were getting wet as I was dragging them into the house. They sat the pack of bottled water on the door step where there was cover. Sometimes they have no sense. I hope that your computer is working correctly now. I bet it was really nice viewing your sisters while talking to them.

Jolie, sorry that you did not get enough sleep. It is so hard to push through the day when one is tired. That is great that you had a fun day with football games ;) . I am sure you will make up for the extra day off when you do your next workout.

Roxie, I hope that you can find workouts that work for you. Looking at all of those houses leaves me with mixed images of which is which when I get home.

I had a great workout this morning, I did RAW Box & Squats and that is a really fun workout. I think I've done it once but really didn't remember doing it at all. Fun combos but I really hate side lunges, I never feel them and they hurt my knees. Next time I'll probably sub something like cross back lunges or something. Still a very fun workout. I used my 1# soft dumbbells.

For some reason my stupid FB won't update to today's numbers. It keeps showing me yesterdays stats and saying it's today. WTF? I powered off my phone and still, it won't update to today. Anyone else having this issue?

Workout was 38 minutes, burned 225 calories, not sure of my steps but HR was 116/156.

Diane - Yeah, that workout you did yesterday looks like it had a lot of shoulders in it. Hope you are ok today. I'm still doing pretty well although I had a knot again this weekend but worked it out with my body buddy. I feel great today. My waffle iron tells me when it's ready to start cooking. It takes a good 5 minutes if not more to heat up. It has settings for waffles, sandwiches (I have a flat grill on it that I can switch it to) and pancakes, etc. So I know when to spoon my mixture into it. I will try it next weekend with a normal waffle mix and see how it goes, it might just be because the vegan recipe has no oil or anything in it. I also bought an Aroma rice maker and used it on Sunday. My rice came out perfect in it. All I had to do was put the rice and water in and it did it all on its own. It put the maker on warm when the rice was done. Really good and perfect rice!! I also check my blood pressure frequently, I have high blood pressure which is hard for me to come to grips with. Every time I take it at home it is low. When I'm at the doctors it's sky high. I don't get it.

Jolie - Hope you get a great workout in today!

Belinda - So cool that you zoomed with your family!! I thought I should try that with my mom and her sister in law in Italy along with my cousin. That would be so fun. Maybe I'll try and schedule that with her. Great job with your workout, hope your knees are doing better.

Roselyn - Great job with Beast!!

Roxie - Hope your foot is feeling better!!

Have a great workout and day everyone!!

Quick check in as I need to shower and get my grandson on zoom before I go for my mammogram. Praying for my friend today who is getting her breast biopsy results today. Fit bit was lousy and frustrating. Made me really mad. Perfect 30 high Impact Hiit (did all as Cathe did) with the extended stretch, 41 minutes(37 actual as I was trying to get better than the 98 and 100 I kept seeing) heart rate 105/152, 131 calories, 2,676 steps. I will be back for personals.

I did Step HIIT 2 this morning. For some reason this GHUTV was on youtube instead of in the app? Took me a while to find it and it wouldn't cast. Its unlisted so I'm not sure the link below will work or not.

It was a fun workout of tabata rounds, strength then cardio. 6 tabata rounds. GHUTV has a new trainer and this was his first workout.

I forgot to post yesterday - I did a spin workout for 55 minutes. Then I had to take my daughter to the eye dr. So I got to work late and my schedule was all messed up for the day.

Good morning,

I did SBF D16 Standing Abs + BarreAmped Core. Than I did CL# 140 Low Impact Cardio Hiit.

Debbie - you should zoom with your family in Italy. It's so much fun. We had a lot of laughs. It was nice seeing my sisters, my BIL's, my nieces and nephew. DH and I need to do it with his family here in the US too.

Roselyn - nice job yesterday.

Doreen - I will give this one a try soon. Nicely done.

Diane - how did you like the high impact workout? Great job doing it as Cathe. I will pray for your friend. Good luck with your appointment today.

It's icy outside. No walk today, unless it gets warmer this afternoon.

Have a wonderful day.

Today I did 2 great Caroline Girvan workouts instead of Body Beast. It is 39 degrees in my gym this morning so I decided to bring in what I could into the warm house and do a workout in the living room. BB there is too much equipment so I did Arms and Shoulders, 2 x 15 minute workouts and I swear they were the BEST workouts ever! I love that there is NO talking in here workouts, just some nice music and a timer since they are both 40 seconds of lifting and 20 seconds rest. Workouts were 30 minutes total and I burned 259 calories. Heart Rate was 114/152. I think I will be sore tomorrow :)

First Workout was no repeat.
Shoulder Press- 15's
Hammer Curls- 15's
Narrow Grip Chest Press- 15's

Lateral Raise- 8's
W Curls- 12's
Diamond Press- 15's

Front Raises- 8's
Alternating Curls- 15's
Skull Crushers- 12's

Single Arm Overhead Press- 15's had to drop to 12's after 12 reps
Other Arm
1 Arm Kickbacks- 10#
Other Arm

Traditional Curls- 15's
Lateral to front raise- 8's

Workout #2- Repeat exercise 2 times and move to the next. 40 seconds on and 20 seconds off

Shoulder Press- 15's, 15's
Upright Rows- 12's, 12's
Lateral to Front Raise- 8's, 8's
1 Arm Rear Fly- 10's, 8's
Other Arm
Bicep Curls- 15's, 15's
Triceps Diamond Press- 15's, 12's

Debbie, nice workout today. I am surprised that you have high blood pressure, but not really. When you got to the doctors you get stressed out so it goes up. Have them check it when you appointment is done, I guarantee you that it will be lower when they do. Also, try Bio Feed Back technique, put both of your feet flat on the floor and think of something soothing like, laying on the beach or what ever and breath slowly with your eyes closed, that will work. If that doesnt work, stand up and have them take it. They never tell you to put your feet flat on the ground, that has a lot to do with your blood pressure.

Belinda, nice workout today. Boy is it cold in Southern CA today too! High of 52 degrees, burr.

Diane Sue, good luck at the doctors office and I hope your friends results come out good! Praying for her!

Roselyn, I am taking a break from BB this week because it is too cold in my gym and I had to move some things into the house to workout. Good job with your workout.

Doreen, another great step workout again!

BBL to read the other posts for the day.

Julie - lol, it's 36 degrees during the day feels like 30. It's cold outside. I wished it would be in the 50's. Glad you like Caroline C. workouts. Someone else mention she uses the same music for all her workouts. I haven't noticed, I don't do her workouts enough. I think if I would do them daily, I wouldn't like it.

I started to post and my friend just called to talk. They are sending her to an oncologist tomorrow. I am praying they can take care of this. It was a crazy day with zoom this morning. Apparently the teacher lost zoom and my 6 year old grandson was left the administrator. I could hear the children still talking and my grandson said the teacher left. I thought he was pulling something and was upset with him as he said he accidentally shut down zoom and couldn't get it back on. My daughter says this apparently happens. When a host is knocked out another person is made the host. Funny a class of school kids controlling zoom lol.
I also looked at the bottom of the box for the Withings blood pressure monitor and it is made in China. So, I guess I purchased a China product. Feeling annoyed about that.

Debbie, that is a fun workout. I can feel the muscles working when I do side lunges. I wonder why you don't. Maybe body mechanics? My Fitbit does that all of the time. Recently I have not had to shut my cell phone down in the mornings to get it to sync. At least most days, but it does not want to sync easily. Usually I have to do it several times to get my sleep stats. It will give everything but that and tell me to follow my sleep or something like that. Then after workouts I have to have no other bluetooth on on a device like my tablet to sync from my phone. First sync will show the new steps but not the workout so I have to sync another time or two for it to finally get everything. Today was just so irritating and I chose that workout to get my heart rate up in a short amount of time. Lots of burpees, jumps, and jacks in it. I even added a few extras before I took a break and was breathing hard. Anyway, I know I got a good workout in even though the thing was working lousy. I have a small rice steamer that I use sometimes. I have not tried it in my instant pot. Usually I make extra and freeze it as it is easy to pull out when I need some rice to go with a dish.
As for the blood pressure monitor, mine was not that far off from the doctors when I checked after I got it. When I did it last night I took four readings and all were within 1 of each other in difference. But, being relaxed, no one around and near ready to crawl into bed, it had dropped significantly from where it was at the doctors and here at home with the chaos during the day. I am sure there are variations. I had a doctor and my dentist office say people usually have a bit higher blood pressure than would be normal at home because of a little anxiety or something. I think mine when it was the highest was a lot of things, the dreaded trip there, spending so much time away while grandchild might be making a scene on zoom, and pressure to get things done for house showing. My daughter mentioned bringing her stuff and doing it the regular way and then checking digital to see how far off.

Doreen, that looks like a good workout. It did work for me when I was checking it out.

Belinda, I have done the High Impact Perfect 30 workout 3 times since I got it now. The other two times I did modifying. This time the only thing I did different was add a couple of extra reps to some of the intervals and I had a push up/pull up bar using it for some of the burpees so I did not have to go all the way to the floor and easier on my wrists. I couldn't do it with the jump forward burpee and jack back move or whatever that was. I did all of the impact. As far as the workout, it is pretty much, mostly moves that I do not like doing. But, a good workout that feels intense even if Fitbit does not think so.

Jolie, great workout today. It would be a bit of a nuisance moving equipment into the house. Can you get some warm workout clothing to wear in the garage maybe? You don't have too many cold months there though. It was 27 outside here this morning and a bit windy. I bundled up.

Roselyn, nice work today with BB Legs.

Today I did CL #295 - Stepped Up Bootcamp and had a good workout. I've done this one before so I knew what it entailed. It had 5 circuits of cardio, leg, upper and abs. This is how it went:

Circuit 1
Cardio Blast on Step
Cross Back Lunges:
8's
Decline Pushups: 16/8/8
V-Ups on Step

Circuit 2
Cardio Blast on Step
Step Ups (Leg Press):
12's
Bicep Curl/Overhead Press: 10's
Plank Knee In/Out/In Plank Jack

Circuit 3
Cardio Blast on Step
Deadlifts:
15's
Triceps Pushups: 4 sets on knees/toes
Overhead Side Bends: 8's - I don't like these

Circuit 4
Cardio Blast on Step
BSS:
12's
Reverse Crunch
Pullovers:
15#

Circuit 5
Cardio Blast on Step
Sumo Squats:
25#
Drop Curls: 10's (these went on forever!)
Straddle down Plaks: (I did Russian Twists and Situps w/8# med ball)

Workout was 43 minutes, burned 162 calories (BS!), HR was 95/135.

So last time I did this worout I burned 304 calories and my HR was 135/180. Today it showed my low from that workout as my high on this workout. Every time I looked at the FB it showed 89-95 bpm. What is going on with these things? It's still not syncing with my phone either. I don't know if it's the phone or the FB. I am beyond frustrated here. My recommendation: STAY AWAY FROM FITBIT!! Buy something else, these aren't accurate at all.

Diane - I know what you mean, so frustrating. I'm about ready to start using my Versa 2 again. Mine does the same as yours, when it was syncing it would sync the steps, then I'd have to refresh for it to update the workout part. So stupid. You'd think by now they'd have this technology down pat. I'm about done with it, though. My husband calls having high blood pressure at the doctors office "white coat syndrome". LOL!! That is true, usually people have anxiety when they go to the doctors. I hope your friend is ok, that is scary! So did the biopsy come back positive?

Doreen - Nice workout!

Belinda - I should, it would be hard to get everyone together, though. I will look into it. Great job with your workout!

Jolie - Wow, kick ass workout yesterday, you are killing it lately!! I never heard about keeping your feet flat on the floor when you take your blood pressure. Good to know. I wonder why that even matters?

Roselyn - Nice job again with BB!

Have a great day everyone!!

Good morning,

CL# 151 Athletic Conditioning plus SBF D 17 Upper Back Thigh and LB Mat w/Band is done.

Debbie - I will do the BC next week. I already wrote all my workouts in my calendar. Looks great! Hope you can zoom with your family in Italy soon. I am excited to zoom this weekend again.

Roselyn - great job yesterday. Did you sign up for BOD?

Diane - for some reason I thought you can't do high impact workouts. That one is probably too high impact for my knees. I have done the low impact, really like that one. I use a chair/or my step to do burpees. I have to be careful with my knees. Maybe once the swelling is gone in my knees I will try that one on my rebounder. I had to modify all the moves in CL# 151. Still had an amazing workout. Great job!

Jolie - hope you have a wonderful workout today.

I am done for today. Have a great day and workout, everyone.

Fit BIt did terrible again. I cannot believe I was checking while doing cardio and it said 68. Then after the Hiit pyramid it was doing the same thing and after I sat down to put it in the workout manager I noticed my heart rate was 87 just sitting.
Workout was Cathe Live 101 Step and pump doing the warm up and step and blasts this time, 33 minutes, heart rate 112/156, 3,262 steps. I then did Perfect 30 bonus Hiit pyramid cardio 13 minutes, 50 calories, 2,059 steps, heart rate 97/141 ( did modify the jumps off and on the step) . I had to check my grandson and zoom and came back up and did Ice Low Impact Sweat #2 step as I wanted to see if the Fitbit would work any better after removing, wiping and putting it back on. This was 22 minutes as I skipped the warm up, 77 calories, heart rate 100/134, 77 calories,1,622 steps. I finished with Icy Core #2 15 minutes, 21 calories, heart rate 89/97, 56 steps.
Total time was 83 minutes, 298 calories, 5,999 steps. This is ridiculous if you ask me. That is what my strength workouts used to look like, not cardio.

Debbie, I don't think that I will ever buy a Fitbit again. Stepped Up Bootcamp is a good choice. It looks like you are having the same problems that I am. I distinctly saw even lower heart rates showing up on the watch. I think it is all craziness. The biopsy came back positive for my friend. They set her up to go to an oncologist today. They gave some names of what type it was with numbers which neither of us understand. She should find out today. She said her doctor said treatable when talking to her so praying it is early enough. She said she had no lumps when I asked how long it had been since she noticed it.

Belinda, nice work as usual today. I probably shouldn't be doing the high impact. My arthritis doctor never gives much guidance when it comes to what I do. I just told him that I workout and have had to modify the jumping and a work out differently. He only asked what hurt and how I make my neck feel better and am handling it as that is my main painful area. My knees are not bothering me right now and I find that I can do a high impact workout once in awhile. Otherwise I do a lot of modifying moves. I have spent time reading up on what should and should not be done and high impact is one that should not be done. I know you cannot do it. I used the edge of the rebounder the other two times I did the high impact perfect 30 and used it for some of the jumping moves. This was the first time I have done it the way Cathe does. She does give a couple of modification ideas during the workout, but not many.

Leg day today. I started with a 30 minute no repeat legs by Lindsay Bomgren. She is one of the GHUTV trainers but also does her own YT and blog.

That didn't seem long enough so I loaded up FitSplit Legs and finished off my legs!! I had to stop on the pulsing elevated lunges as my legs were fried. I forget sometimes that Cathe's workouts don't give much break or rest between moves!! Not a full 20 seconds at any rate!
