Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for December 2020

Today I did two kick ass cardio workouts and had a good time. Left side is still bothering me, I wish I knew what is causing the inflammation I feel in my lats and upper back. It is not as bad as it was last week and I've really been stretching, icing and pressing out the knots. It is helping, but for how long?

Anyways, my first workout was on my Max Training and I did the programmed Max 14 Minute Intervals. It either had 8 or 10 - 25 second intervals with an 80 second recovery. I upped my resistance to get my HR up. Great workout, love this machine!!

Workout was 17 minutes, burned 110 calories (MT said 140), went .47 miles, did 1165 steps and HR was 126/154.

Then I did Kelly's RAW Cardio Crush 2 without the vest and I still had a really good workout. Workout was 36 minutes, burned 236 calories, did 3397 steps and HR was 126/156.

Me and my husband have been binge watching old movies. We started last weekend with the "Twilight" series and now we're on "The Hunger Games". Love these movies, they are so good. Forgot some of how they went so it was good to watch them again. We still have "Mockingjay" 1 and 2 to watch.

Diane - I am so happy to hear you are feeling better. I've been checking in all weekend to see if you posted anything. Take another day or two off from working out just in case of relapse. I'm glad you kicked it so fast and that it wasn't that bad for you. Hugs to you!!

Jolie - Hope you have power and water today. What is going on there? Why no power?

Belinda - Nice job on your workouts, glad you had a good stretch in there. I need to do that a couple times this week as well.

Roselyn - Great job with STS! I really want to start lifting but so afraid to. :(

Doreen - Nice workout on Friday!! You find some interesting ones on Youtube.

Have great workouts everyone!!

I did two #FastPhysique paper workouts today, Delts of Doom and Apple Bottom. I must prefer to work upper and lower body together. An upper body only day doesn't feel like enough of a workout. I've been watching videos on landmine exercises so today I did all the squats in Apple Bottom with a landmine set-up. I much prefer to a barbell on my back I must say! I'm still figuring out how to translate a loaded barbell to a loaded landmine set up barbell (I don't think you count the full weight of the bar since one end is anchored in the floor.) I think I will start playing with this landmine set- up more!

Saturday and Sunday I took some nice walks with my dog and my husband, yesterday i pushed my dog up hills in his doggy jogger and boy are my hamstrings sore. Yesterday I burned 501 calories and I forgot to wear my FB on Saturday. Today I did Disc #10 Chest/Shoulders and Biceps and had a great workout. I lifted pretty heavy and where ever Cathe did pushups, I did a Chest Press using 20# DB's and had an great chest workout. Workout was 1 hour and I burned 427 calories. Heart rate was 114/186? I dont know about that number.

Debbie, fantastic workout today! I have to run tomorrow on the elliptical and I am looking forward to getting the heart rate up and burning some calories. I have gained so much weight this year in the mid section, I have hot flashes again and that is when I get the weight gain. I am so sick of this menopause bull shit!!! After Christmas I am going on a full on cleanse detox and I am getting this weight off. No more sugar!!! Also, my son is coming home on Wed. so he will make me workout like crazy with him so I am excited about that.

Diane, I am glad you are sleeping good. I think you are on the mend, just in time for Christmas!!

Doreen, nice workout again! Do you have snow in CO? Do you ski or snowboard? I love to ski.

Belinda, way to go on the sts workout today and adding on some abs. I was going to do that but I am running late today, i have to get some shopping done.

BBL to read your other posts for the day.

Wow, it is almost Christmas! I look forward to 2021!

So I wanted to lift today but I know heavy lifting is not good right now. Actually, I'm a bit worried about any type of lifting right now but I'm so afraid I will lose my muscle tone. I looked through the RAW workouts under Muscle Definition and found one called RAW Upper Sculpt, Lower Tone so I tried it. Wow, great workout, fun and doable. It is boxing moves with 3# dumbbells and lower body toning exercises using ankle weights. Kelly wore 10# ones, I started out with my 2# set and then added my 4# set so I had a total of 6# on each leg. It was perfect. I really felt it and I got a great workout.

So it alternated between boxing moves and leg exercises. I didn't write down the segments, so sorry about that.

Workout was 50 minutes, burned 343 calories (holy crap!), did 2384 steps and HR was 131/211. I doubt that, my HR didn't get above 150 I bet.

Doreen - Great job with your workouts. I also like working upper and lower together. I sometimes feel a dread factor when I do legs alone.

Belinda- Wow, you are already on Week 4 for STS? Where does the time goes? Nice job with your workout!!

Jolie - I am also having hot flashes really bad again. I figured once it got cold here they would subside a bit. Yea - nope. I started taking Change O' Life again. Those always help me. Great workout yesterday. Have fun with your run today!

Diane - I hope you continue to get better. Hugs!

Have a day everyone! Can't believe it's only 3 days til Christmas!:oops:

Horrible sleep last night. I woke up a midnight when my husband came to bed and didn't get back to sleep until after 2:30 am. Ugh. So dragging today.

I did a youtube workout this morning. Mostly cardio but this had a little of a lot of stuff in it. I only did 45 mintues - I stopped when she started in on the kickbox section - I just didn't have the energy for that.

Late check in today, I am in the middle of my sons football Bowl game and the score is 26 to 13 Nevada in the 3rd Quarter!!!!! I have drank 2 glasses of wine, I am so stressed out!! Please Lord Jesus lets us win this game!

Today was cardio, TM walk uphill, 40 minutes, 2.1 miles. Next, run on the elliptical, 1.5 miles, 13 minutes. Total time was 53 minutes, traveled 3.6 miles and burned 587 calories.

Debbie, I am so glad that you found a workout that works for you right now. Whatever works for your body and hopefully the new year is better for you and these issues you are dealing with this year.

Doreen, I hate when i get a bad nights sleep! Way to go on getting a workout in even when you are tired.

Roselyn, way to go on the leg workout and nice workout today.

Belinda, I hope you had a great workout today, did I miss your post?

Make it a great day.

I am feeling better. I did a few household tasks today getting caught up, but spaced them out. It is so odd to feel winded just doing a couple of tasks and walk up and down the stairs. I think it may take a bit before I am back to normal completely. My daughter's friend said her husband's health center (he is a physician and she is a PA) says to take melatonin and low dose aspirin for covid along with the zinc, D, C etc. I read that melatonin and ward off covid in some cases. Different studies have been done. So, I ordered some. Will be hand if my husband were to get it although I am on my last day of quarantine and he still has not got it. II called my arthritis doctor's office and they said I can come to my appointment Monday as long as I do not have any coughing or sniffles. I asked about allergies and they said even with allergies. I would have to wait till later in January. So, I guess I will see how it goes. The appointment is not that important, but I was trying to get these done before school starts again. Just in case. I know my granddaughter will be here. Plus I was hoping to get done before the bad weather months.

Doreen, that workout looks rather intense, but fun. Way to go when you did not get enough sleep. That happens all of the time to me when my husband comes in from work and I get woke up before I needed to.

Debbie, I have that workout down somewhere I am sure. It is a good one. Odd, last night my shoulder and neck started hurting and it has bothered me a lot today. I don't get it as I am doing nothing. I am wondering if it is just the arthritis kicking in after all of this other stuff. Immune system is putting up quite a fight.

Belinda, my downstairs is all cleaned. Although Christmas doesn't matter so much here as my husband will be working and no family get together right now. Feels good to get things cleaned up though.

Jolie, I hope your son's team won. Nice workout today as well.

Roselyn, nice work yesterday and doing Pop Sugar cardio today.

Today I did three cardio workouts, two on my Max Trainer and then I walked on my treadmill. Fun stuff.

First workout was Max Mix Cardio with Tahneetra - this one has alternating intervals of 5 and 10 second sprints with 50 seconds rest between them. She does them all at a resistance of 3 but I upped it to 4 and 5 at times.

Workout was 14 minutes, burned 65 calories (MT said 112), went .37 miles and did 915 steps. HR was 104/147.

I then did Max HiiT 4HD with Tahneetra - this one has 4 rounds of a 10 second sprint, 20 seconds down low which really works the glutes and 30 seconds up high to recover. When I did the down low I upped the resistance to 5 - she did the whole workout at a resistance of 2. I did 3 and 5.

Workout was 7 minutes, burned 32 calories (MT said 53), went .15 miles, did 398 steps. HR was 105/142.

Fun stuff.

Treadmill walk was 25 minutes, burned 156 calories, went 1.16 miles, did 2868 steps and HR was 117/130.

Doreen - Sorry you had a bad nights sleep the night before, hope last night was better. I hate when that happens.

Roselyn - Who does the Popsugar workout? Is that a BB workout? Nice job!

Jolie - How are you doing 1.5 miles in 13 minutes? That is amazing. I barely get .5 miles with a 14 minute workout and I am kicking ass on my Max Trainer. Does your elliptical tell you how far you've gone? My MT doesn't, I'm going by my FB so that might be why the difference is so staggering. Great job with your workouts yesterday, you kicked butt!!

Belinda - Great workout yesterday! Love tabata workouts. I remember when I used to hate those. Right now I am loving cardio and not so much lifting. Hope you have a great workout today!

Diane - Sorry to hear you are winded just doing little things. This virus is serious business. I am thankful I haven't gotten it yet but I get scared every time I go somewhere. Seems you can be as careful as can be and you can still get it. Get well soon, hopefully the melatonin will help. Interesting.

Roxie - Hope you are doing well.

Have a great day everyone!!

Another bad night of sleep but I think I figured out why. My husband increased the tempature in the house and then pressed "hold" on the T-stat so it didn't drop overnight like its supposed to. Its so weird- I'm cold all day and then hot at night and he's fine during the day and cold at night.

This morning I did 2 sections of Michelle Dozios Club routine cardio strength #5 and then a "Game of 21s" workout on GHUTV - just one round through the 21 exercises cause I ran out of time. I saw that Michelle and her husband had to close their gym in CA. They had pictures on instagram of moving all the equipment out and the final shutting off the lights. Just sad - It seemed like they had a fun gym.

My son's team won the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl yesterday!!!!! That is a huge accomplishment and now they have gone to 3 straight bowl games and won two of them! My son is driving home as I type my post :) He will be here for 1 month.

Today I had an kickass workout once again! I started with the TM, 30 minutes uphill, 7.0 incline, 3.1 speed and burned 387 calories. Next I did STS disc # 11 Back and Triceps and lifted 70 % of my one rep max. Next I got on my Rowing machine and rowed for 8 minutes on the hardest setting, my legs really felt it. Total workout time was 1 hour 40 minutes and I burned 734 calories. My heart rate was 130/181. I forgot to tell you ladies yesterday that I joined a gym with the girl that is helping me with my running. It is down the street and it is small and cheap but why not, they have all of the leg machines so now I can do legs using machines instead of just free weights. There is a leg press, hack squat machine, inner and outer thigh machine, leg curls and leg ext. I am really excited to workout there when there is too many people in the my home gym while my son is home, all of his friends come over and they workout together. This way if I want to get away i have somewhere to go and there is now NO excuse not to workout. I joined for 3 months and it cost $150.

Diane Sue, I have been supplementing Melatonin, Vit D, Zinc and Vit C since Covid hit. Fox News had seen a study and talked about it so I just kept taking my supplements, these I took before covid hit. Melatonin is one of the best Anti Oxidants there is, besides Grape seed Extract, it crosses over the Blood Brain Barrier. I hope you feel better before Christmas. Some people just wont get Covid because of what blood type they have.

Debbie, way to go on the cardio workout today. I can run 1.5 miles in 13 minutes on my elliptical because my machine is only feet, not had movement so you can really run fast and sprint unlike machines with the hand grips that move back and forth. My elliptical does tell me the distance, steps, calories, I use a chest strap. I paid a fortune for the darn thing but I love it! I am finished with week 4 of STS so next week I move onto either Meso 2 or I might do my own thing for a week, I am not sure yet. This meso I will include legs.

Doreen, I hate sleeping while it is hot in the house. I have my slider door wide open with a fan blowing in the cool air even when it was 45 degrees last night. I like a lot of blankets and I like waking up feeling refreshed. Nice job on working out besides getting poor sleep. I love Michelle D.

Belinda, I hope you have a great workout today. Are you taking a week off from STS or are you going right into Meso 2? Let me know and I will do what you do. If I take time away, I will do a lot of cardio and some total body workouts.

Roselyn, I hope you get in a great workout today.

Off to Costco to get some steaks and scallops for Christmas day dinner. Christmas Eve we are having Sushi and sake bombs :) for cocktails. When my son comes home from college the menu really amps up!

I am feeling much better today and have accomplished quite a lot. I have felt so stiff from lying on the sofa bed upstairs so this morning I did Perfect 30 Flow Basics which really felt good to do and is not an intense workout, just feels good and gets things moving.

Debbie, nice work with the cardio today. Not Roselyn, but I think Pop Sugar has different instructors. Fitbit uses some PopSugar workouts on their workouts. There are not a lot of free workouts on Fitbit though. In the app under discover you can see the workouts. Premium ones only come with membership and to me were not worth paying for premium and only being able to do them from my phone or tablet with the app. Maybe there are some on youtube? This virus is scary since there are those that are younger that have died from blood clots. My daughter's best friend has another friend in the medical field who was called and told her husband(38 years old) had died from a blood clot. She thought they had made a mistake because he was in perfect health. There was another from my daughter's church who lost their daughter who dud bit wakeup from sleep.

Belinda, have fun with baking and Christmas prep. Good work getting in STS before you left to get your hair done.

Doreen, we solved that problem with our electric blanket with dual controls. I do not keep mine up like my husband does because I will wake up sweating in the middle of the night. Our thermostat is set to drop a couple of degrees at night. That is so sad that Michelle Dozios and her husband had to shut down their gym. Our country needs to stop the shut downs. It is not helping people.

Jolie, that is great that your son's team won and I bet that you are excited to have him home for a month. That is nice that you were able to join a gym with your friend and have access to those lower body machines. I have used the Vital Proteins sleep shots quite a bit which have 1 mg of melatonin. Otherwise I have been using Vital Proteins Performance collagen sleep which uses gaba, tryptophan, and 5htp which helps produce melotonin. I just ran out last night and the price has went up on Amazon. I need to look at Sprouts because for awhile they had rebates on ibotta for it. It has been quite awhile so it may not be there anymore. Anyway I purchased Source Naturals melatonin. I guess I am off quarantine now. Not sure that I am anxious to go out shopping though. I love scallops. Yum.

Today I did RAW Compound Moves and had a great workout. I'm not sure if I've ever done this one, I don't think I have. It was fast moving and went by fast.

Each move was 1 minute long and about a 10 second rest. No warmup so I did the warmup in Heavy Bag & Cardio. Kelly uses 10# dumbbells, I used 8's unless I noted otherwise.

Squats/Pull Backs
Side Lunge/1 Arm Row
Plank Row/2 jacks
Front Lunges/Bicep Curls
Plie/Bicep pulses
Plie Jack/Hammer Curls
Squat/Hammer Curls/Overhead Press
Rows/Kickbacks - I used 5's
Reverse Lunge/Alternate Front Raise
One Leg Lat Raise
Side Step/Upright Rows
Crab (did not do, I did the lat pushups instead)
Skull Crushers/Leg Lifts - I used 5's
Flies/Situps (loved these)
Alternate Press/Scissors
Situps/Reverse Crunch
Mountain Climbers - Yea, I skipped that
Frog Squats - I skipped this too

Workout was 38 minutes, burned 257 calories, did 1081 steps and HR was 132/184.

Then I walked on my treadmill for 21 minutes, burned 133 calories, went 1 miles, did 2403 steps and HR was 106/137.

I don't have time for personals, I have a lot of stuff to get done today. Please have a wonderful Christmas and I hope Santa is good to each and every one of you!! Peace!!

Today is my rest day. I have grocery shopping to do this morning and then I need to help my boys wrap some presents since they are lazy with wrapping :). I want to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and I hope that you all enjoy the day with your friends and family. Most of all I want to say how thankful I am to have each one of you in my life, you have supported me through so much and most of all you inspire me to get off my butt and workout each day.

Merry Christmas and I look forward to hearing how your holidays go and what Santa brought for you!

I did a step workout by Carol Doerner on YT that she shot this summer out by the pool. Then I did a Heather Robinson Hiit 20 minute Full Body with weights workout. Not really Hiit - just intervals.

Merry Christmas everyone!
