Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for December 2020

Hi everyone,

STS W1 D5 Back/Triceps is done. I also did SBF D9 Standing/Mat Lower Body = 24 min plus Christmas Tight and Seat Target = 7 min. I am done for today.

Debbie - thank you for your kind words. I am falling apart :( I am glad when this year is over. Had enough. Hoping next year will be better for me. I bought cushioned shoes the other day for the virtual RT. These are I bought, a soldier on base recommends this brand to me and my DD when we were looking for sneakers on base a few weeks ago. https://www.hokaoneone.com/womens-road/clifton-7/1110509.html?dwvar_1110509_color=MMHC I will wear them next time I go for a walk with my knee brace and I will limit my walking to 3 times a week only. I need to take a good look at my workouts and modify even more especially lunges/squats. I am sorry your knees are bordering you too. I did one Cathe workout with a lot of twisting, my knees were hurting for months. Be carful! I feel like I need to check in the silver sneaker check in soon, lol.

Diane - yes, what your orthopedist suggests sounds very difficult for my lifestyle. Lately, I been doing what he suggests not running up/down the stair too much. My knees make a lot of noises/cracking. I am in pain going up stair or downstairs. He suggests walking on grass too. The problem with that is we don't have side walks, I can't walk in peoples yards. My husband thinking buying an elliptical. I am kinda against it. I am trying to downsize. I bought Hoka running shoes, they are so cushioned. Love them. I only wore them in my gym when I did the virtual RT. I will start wearing them outside instead and buy another for my other workouts. I am trying to donate some stuff at the homeless shelter in DC after my doctor appointment on Saturday. Than I will meet my kids for lunch.

BBL!

This morning I did a Double Step workout from Giana on YT. This was two steps side by side which she sometimes used as one long step. It was a fun way to double step!

No workout this morning. I got up early to get a shower and got my grandson through his phonics and reading work before I left for my Christmas gathering event with friends. I had a nice time, but when I got home I was really running to get things done and get my grandson on zoom. We still did well and got things done earlier than usual.

Debbie, nice work today with Cathe Live. When I am on time constraints I look at the shorter time workouts too. I had Cathe Smith records. I had one Jane Fonda that I checked out from the video store a lot. I don't think I ever purchased one though. It was not long after vhs came out that others made some. I used some records along with a jump rope for awhile. When I tried Jane Fonda I bought some ankle weights, and really noticed a difference in my things and hips. Then it all went from there. We are lucky to have great instructors to choose from now.

Belinda, nice work with STS back and biceps and SB workouts. That is too bad that you do not have grass. Our city has been putting sidewalks on all of the main streets. I see them in more of the new neighborhoods too. I just have to walk out of our circle and cross a street and there is side walk that leads to the park and up to where the lake is. Walking paths all over. I am just not one to go out walking or jogging. When I did I usually took Gertie and walked back through an open area and by the water and woods and then back to the house which was really not that far. My knees used to crackle and pop, but I do not notice it anymore. Maybe that is not a good thing. My neck crackles and pops. I have seen quite a few people that really like the Hoka shoes. One person that works at Home Depot wears them and says they are comfortable. I hope that they help. I have looked at them and thought about trying them. I don't think I saw cross trainers in them though. Just running shoes. A lot of people like the Elliptical. I just figure I would be finding reasons to not use one. I tried my daughters when I stayed at her house, although there I had not television or a book rack to read or anything so I was quickly bored. Workout videos would help. But, for you it is not outdoors. It takes awhile o get a plan going that works and you can return to. I used to do long treadmill runs every day and it was my habit for my workouts. I would add dvds to it, but always did a run. Now I would rather have a dvd workout. A lot of the arthritis things I have read recommend swimming, elliptical, yoga, and light weights. Not much else.

Doreen, I still want to try one of those double step workouts. Some time when I am not rushed and can concentrate on it. They look fun.

Roselyn, nice work with the Hiit Double Wave Pyramid.

Did you girls hear that Texas is filing a lawsuit against MI, PA, UT and GA over election rules to the US Supreme Court? This could be a game changer with the election. I hear more states are joining the lawsuit as well, like FL. No news media has said a word about this. I sure hop the courts don't throw this out.

This moring I had another great cardio session. I started out with my Max Trainer and did Max Holiday Burn 12 w/Toby. This one has 20 second sprints alternating between 3 and 4 resistance and has a 70 second rest between each spring. This one was tough, and got my HR up big time.

Workout was 16 minutes, burned 91 calories (MT sasid 136), went .45 miles, did 1080 steps and HR was 113/160. My FB actually seemed to track this good today, I wore up up higher on my arm.

I also did CL #265 - Cardio Challenge Express. I've done this one one other time but today it seemed harder than I remember. I actually called it quits a little more than half way in. Plus I ran out of time. But even so, the total workout is 30 minutes and I did 28 minutes of it.

Workout was 28 minutes, burned 198 calories, went 2585 steps and HR was 131/168.

Belinda - I bought a pair of Hoka shoes not too long ago and they hurt my feet so bad I can't wear them anymore. And they were over $150!!! I should have taken them back, but I did wear them for a period of time. But as the days progressed, my feet hurt more and more in them. I'm hoping you won't have that problem. My problem is my collapsed arches, it is very hard for me to find shoes that are comfortable for long periods of time. Let me know how you like them. I modify everything (most of the time) when I feel my knees hurting a bit. Wish we could just not get injured and workout like we did when we were in our 20's and 30's. No worries back then!! LOL!!

Doreen & Roselyn - Great workouts!

Diane - I had Cathy Smith records too and VHS workouts. Forgot about those! LOL!! So funny. We've been workout junkies for a long long time!! I started in my early 20's and never looked back.

Jolie - Hope all is well. I thought you had a workout scheduled for yesterday. Hope you aren't injured or sick.

Have great workouts everyone!!

This morning I did a paper workout from #FastPhysique, Chest workout (bench press pryamid up in reps from 12, 9, 6, 3 and then back down adding weight up) Then the written workout had a 4 round circuit of chest but I did RAW Strength Day 2 - Chest and Tri (which was mostly the same exercises on the written circuit) Good strength training for today - I think I will be sore.

No workout yesterday, I had a chiro appointment and he adjusted my whole body almost :) I am sore but feel so good today. My knee is not hurting at all, it was out of alignment as well as my foot, ankle, lower leg and upper leg, no wonder why it hurt so bad, same with my ankle. I am NOT allowed to workout today, even though I feel good. My doctor said I have to rest for at least 24 hours and he said I could not walk either for long distance. My ankle needs time for the inflammation to settle down and he doesnt want me to aggravate it. He used the cool laser on my leg and my neck and that works wonders for pain. I am hoping to go into the New Year feeling great. I canceled Cathe Live, I want to use my cardio equipment for cardio or any dvd that I have on my shelf. I am really tired of the Live workouts, I am going back to basics. The live workouts are at too fast of a pace and I cant squeeze the muscle and I find myself swinging and not lifting good weight. I want to build muscle again, not a lot but i want more muscle tone and I want to lift at a slower safer pace.

Debbie, great cardio workout today. Fox News has done in depth reporting on those law suits, especially Laura Ingram. I still dont think it is enough to over turn the election but we must get a handle on the voting fraud so we have a fair election next time when Trump runs for 2024 :)

Diane Sue, I hope you have a great workout today!

Doreen, nice strength training workout today!!!

Belinda, way to go on Back and Triceps. I will do that workout probably on Friday, I am letting my body get some recovery time from going to the Chiro.

Roselyn, I hope you have a great STS workout today.

I am starting to get Hot Flashes again, this is year 5 i am going into!!!

Have a wonderful day.

Hi everyone,

Today I SBF D10 Barre Hiit Circuit w/Louder Music = 39 min. This one was very low impact. Perfect for today. I also did the exercises I am suppose to do 3 times a week. My plan was going for a walk today, I did Clean Max instead.

Diane - we do have sidewalks in the older neighborhoods, I usually walk around the older neighborhood. I have a lot of arthritis behind my the patella. I am falling apart. Getting old is sucks! I hope the shots will give me some relieve for awhile. Keeping everything low impact helps. I am surging what exercises I can do to strengthen my knees without hurting them. It's gonna take me some time to get used to not to squat down deep. Not using every heavy weights is helping too. I used to run races in Germany. Those day's are over. I don't think I will get an elliptical, I don't have room in my gym. I already got so much crap. Hope your neck feels better soon. Sorry it's still causing your problems.

Debbie - I wear insoles with the Honka shoes. So far, they don't border me. My DD bought the same ones, she bought them too big. She can't return them either, she already worn them outside. I only wore mine in my gym. I will wear them from now on when I walk outside. Those Honka shoes are expensive.

Roselyn - great job today. Hope you feel better soon.

Jolie - good idea to give your body enough rest. I will do STS legs tomorrow. I have an appointment on Friday and Saturday. I won't have time to get a long workout in. I am trying to knock them all out. Hope you feel better. Glad you enjoy Cathe's older workouts. I did like her newer live workouts and older workouts.

Doreen - great job!

Good night, everyone.

Debbie, it makes me feel hopeful that we do have people that are willing to stand up for what is right and not sitting back and letting it slide. A friend in Az sent me some links about it today. She follows Christian Broadcasting a lot and hears a lot there. It is sad the most networks keeps people in the dark that only watch there network so they are blind to what is really going on.
Maybe you were a little fatigued from the Max Trainer workout when you did the CL workout. I have done that one. I have moved my Fit Bit up higher, but unless it is on tight it works it's way down and I find myself stopping repeatedly trying to shove it back up. I have even tried wearing it on the inside of my wrist to see if that worked since that is where we take our pulse, but it was not more effective. I remember that you bought the Hoka shoes and they did not work for you. I have learned if the shoes have any discomfort at the start, they are not going to be shoes that I don't mind wearing. I would like to not have to wear shoes at all. I have one foot with a high arch which is weird because when I sit with feet together the arch makes that foot look shorter than the left foot that is pretty flat. I like my New Balance that I got even better after my husband ordered me the superfeet inserts that I have in my Reebok shoes. They felt even better with those in. They are athletic carbon with forefoot cushioning. I always dread going out somewhere with anything on but athletic shoes, but I suffer through for church and dress up occasions. And I am always relieved when I get home and kick them off.
Yep! I have been working out most of my life.

Doreen, I really do like the Raw Strength workouts. Nice work today.

Jolie, I am sure I will want a change again after 6 months of CL. I just seem to be having a hard time finding workouts that will work for me and problems I work around. That is where the it is advantageous knowing what the workout contains and where I can alter. Dvds with premixes are a help. I write down times on the streaming workouts where I think I might want to skip something. I still love the Raw workouts and with the price I am not likely to stop doing them.

Roselyn, I hope the numbness has let up for you by now.

Belinda, nice that you had a SB very low impact hiit workout that is perfect for you right now. Cleaning house can mean a lot of steps. Between my husband and me we have a lot of workout stuff. I really do not need more. I got rid of some when we moved here. That was the Bowflex and dip station that both took up quite a bit of room. The one real space hog I have is my heavy bag/speed bag on the huge freestanding stand. I did not use the heavy bag today. Instead I did held 2# dumbbells instead of the egg weights Kelly used. Thinking of knees, on the workout I did today Noelle was doing the squats without the weights as she had on the gloves. She made a noise and I guess her knee felt off or something. Kelly told her to not go low with the squats and made the suggestion that if it hurts maybe not even do it. It is hard to figure out how to build strength around the joints without causing more inflammation. That is pretty much what I was supposed to work on with my shoulders and upper back. Strengthening the support muscle group. Maybe some band work? They had me using bands and 3# dumbbells for my shoulders and upper back. It still hurt though. It is a shame your daughter is stuck with shoes that are too big. Those shoes cost so much money.

This morning I did RAW Box & Pump 2 and had a great workout. I really like this one, especially the 80's music that is in it. Very fun. I won't type out the workout, I used the same weights as I did last time which was on Nov, 18. LOL!!!

Workout was 41 minutes, burned 303 calories (I get excited when I see over 300 calorie burns!), did 3259 steps and HR was 136/172.

Doreen - Great workout yesterday, the Strength ones by Kelly are good ones. I love them but right now I can't lift too heavy.

Jolie - Hope you are good today and ready to workout. I agree with the CL workouts but I don't want to cancel just yet. I am liking the bootcamp ones and I'm keeping the weights light. Right now I'm just looking for the cardio factor but don't want to lose too much muscle so I'm keeping light weights in. Laura Ingram is still on Fox News? I thought they ditched her for a liberal reporter? I like her and I'm glad she's talking about what's going on. I follow her on Twitter. But I meant our local news channels aren't saying a word about the lawsuit, 17 other states have joined it. I love that they are looking into Hunter's tax fraud. I hope he goes to jail. He is a nice looking man, though.

Roselyn - I hate dental work where they numb you. Hope it wasn't anything major that you had to get done. Nice job with your workout.

Belinda - Yea, I wasn't too happy with Hoka. When I first got them they felt great. After wearing them for long periods of time it was apparent they wouldn't work for me. I'm wearing Brooks now and love them. Good job doing a workout that worked for your body. That is the way to go right now!

Diane - Wow, Heavy Bag & Arms is an hour? It looks like a good one but I am staying away from heavy lifting for a while. I have something odd going on under my left arm in the triceps area. I used the foam roller this morning and it was so painful I could hardly put pressure on it. I think it ties into the pain I feel in my upper back and my elbow. I will work on loosening that section up and hopefully this pain will go away. So sick of these issues. Great job on your workout yesterday!! You kicked butt! I am still hopeful that the election might be overturned. If anyone can do it, Trump can. They have so much proof that voter fraud happened, and once the Supreme Court starts looking at what the states are bringing to them with this lawsuit, I think it will open a huge can of worms. We can hope, right?

This morning I did GHUTB Step Strength with Jodi. And wowza! She put together a great workout - very metabolic, high reps and combos. Lots of lunges and squats off the step - no cardio.

Good morning,

STS W1 Legs is done.

Debbie - sorry that Honka hurt your feet. I really haven't worn them for long periods of time yet. I will go for a walk later and see how they feel. Make you can give them to one of your family that is in need for new shoes. DD will donate hers. I also bought a pair of Brooks the same time I bought the Honka. Haven't worn them yet. Need to take them out of the box, lol. My DD usually wears Brooks and loves them. Mine are gray with light blue. Love the color. Great job this morning.

Diane - we also have a lot of workout stuff. My gym is in the basement. I took up the entire floor downstairs for my workout room. Love it! We still have a Bowfex, it takes up so much space. DH uses the bowfex once in a while. I do like using it for lat pull downs instead using the tower for pull ups. That's fantastic Kelly noticed her knee was off. I was very careful today with squats/lunges. Instead of squats I sub good mornings. I googled what I can do instead of squats. M1 legs bonus if fantastic for strengthening your legs. I need to use those exercises weekly. The Exercise Physiologist wants me to use band exercise 3 times a week to strengthen my knees similar to what Cathe does in M1 legs bonus. I also googled JS on YT this morning, found a few short leg workouts I can do to strengthen my legs just using your BW. Are you still using lighter weights for your shoulders? There is nothing wrong using lighter shoulder. Nice job yesterday.

Great job everyone else on your workouts. BBL for more personals.

Today I did STS disc 5 Back and Triceps and had a great workout. I added in a lot of rowing in between exercises to get my calorie burn up and in the end had the best workout. I did not do the pull ups, I used my pull down machine and did them with several grip options. Workout was 1 hour and I burned 401 calories. I did 360 rows. Heart rate was 115/152.

I moved my gym room around and put my rowing machine right next to where I do my bench work and it is now very easy to jump on and row, it was tucked away before and I wasn't using it.

Debbie, nice workout today and great calorie burn :) No main stream media never talks about anything that could hurt the Democrat Party, there is nothing about Hunter or Erik S. and his ties to China. If that was a Republican, you would only here about that, they would pile it on. Nancy Pelosi said out loud that they held up the Stimulus package because they want to make Trump look bad, they dont care about all of the people who are loosing everything they own!

Doreen, nice workout, that one sounds amazing. Do you get these on Youtube?

Belinda, Nice leg workout today. I might try one and see how I do, or i will put together my own leg workout with exercise that i know I can do and wont hurt my knees.

Diane Sue, I hope you have a great workout today. I had a poor nights sleep, I had bad dreams all night and kept waking up. I also have hot flashes again and I woke up numerous times so hot. Covers on covers off!

Roselyn, I hope you have a nice workout today.

BBL to read your posts.

Have a wonderful day. My parents are coming for a visit this weekend so i have a lot to do to get the house ready for visitors.

Debbie, I like Box and Pump 2 and the music in it is fun. The heavy bag workout I did yesterday is the longest and Kelly says to go lighter with weight since you are doing boxing too. It is pretty intense on the shoulders. I was really hurting last night feeling the burning pain and felt it some this morning. I took some Excedrin and it has not hurt since though. I probably will not do that one again for awhile. I liked the music in it. I did upright rows in place of a couple of those sets of push press. I did not spend much time sitting at the computer yesterday so I know it was not caused from the computer this time.
Yes, if anyone can do it it would be President Trump. I am so tired of things that should not be allowed happen and are totally treated like it really does not matter. I am sure Hunter Biden uses his looks and knows how to work people well because of it. No trust in that group for me at all. I hate those people that say oh it would not make a difference anyway. Yes it does!! No one should get away with lies and fraud when it comes to our country.

Doreen, it sounds like your legs will be feeling that workout.

Belinda, I used the Bowflex for the lats instead of pull ups too. I also used it when doing STS and some P90X workouts with attachments for front squats rather than holding a barbell. I had added extra bars to it. Just too much of a space hog though and it required some set up every time. I am using mostly up to 8's for shoulders. I have tried 10 for some moves a few times. It really depends on how much I am doing and the move. I do not want to ignore them, but my shoulder work is light and plenty of recovery each time. Most of the time with overhead I do upright rows for at least part of it. Pull overs I prefer lighter and I Do not go way back over my head. You can still feel it in the back without doing that. The other option I use is a move I got from PT holding the weights straight up while lying down and push away and then pull shoulders back and together without changing the position of the weights. Works postural muscles. They started me without weights for this move. Kelly has a few body weight and band workouts. She points out things like Samantha changing something because she has back problems. Actually she just had back surgery and is already back working out. She has some others that change moves according to their needs and Kelly points it out. I bet JS has some good stuff you could use. The Yoga Tune Up dvd that has knee hab or something like that on it has a final workout that is kind of like using the gliding discs and moves to get the knees and mobility back. I used it after surgery and going through the other stuff. Those workouts are useful, but not fun. PT is not fun either. I don't remember a legs bonus on STS. I should look at those again.

Jolie, sorry about the bad nights sleep. Mine have been about 6 hours or a little more for 3 days which is better than 5. Bad dreams usually leave me feeling depressed when I wake up. I do not like them at all.
Nice work on STS today. I have read that we should not do pulldowns behind the head. That they should be done facing the pulldown bar. I used to pull down behind my head a lot. I am always trying to find moves to use for my neck and upper back. The Democrats are out for themselves and their agenda. Not the people. We are just pawns to help them to a means. Disposable and nothing more.

I forgot to post my workout this morning. I did Cathe Live #78 Power Step, 41 minutes, 192 calories, heart rate 117/155, 3,690 steps. I also did Perfect 30 mobility basics core focus, 15 minutes, heart rate 85/4, 18 calories, 50 steps. Total time56 minutes, 210 calories, 3,708 steps.

Debbie, I meant to mention that I used to be happy with 500 plus calories for my workout. Now if I get up to 300 I am pleased. My Fitbit seemed to be low most of the time I looked. I was near the end, breathing hard and sweating and I checked and it had my heart rate at 98 :) . Oh well, I know I got in a good workout no matter what Fitbit says.

Roselyn, nice work getting Gym Style chest and tris in today.

This morning I did a Max Trainer workout and chose Max 10 Minute Peak Burn with Amy Dixon and had a great workout. This one is fun, short and tough. It has 10 - 10 second sprints alternating between a resistance of 4 ad 6 and has a 50 second recovery. The hardest thing for me on this machine is the burning I feel in my quads. OMG, it is unreal. That is what is so hard about these workouts, not me getting breathless (which I do) but the fact that my quads burn like crazy. I wonder if I'll ever get passed that, I've been using this thing for over a year and my quads still aren't used to it. Strange.

Workout was 14 minutes, burned 61 calories (ridiculous, MT said 126), went .34 miles, did 942 steps and HR was 98/141. Every time I looked at my FB my HR was under 100. So stupid.

I also walked on my treadmill for 20 minutes, burned 126 calories, went 1 mile and did 2377 steps. HR was117/130.

I had enough time to do some really good stretching. I put on calming music and stretched my lower and upper body. My triceps on my left arm really hurt today. Putting pressure on it with the foam roller was very painful. I wonder what I did to cause that kind of pain?

Belinda - I am really liking the more toned down colors for running or walking shoes. I used to get the hot pink or green ones, they were so bright it seemed they'd glow in the dark. But I find now that I'm getting older and my workout shoes turn into walking shoes when I get new workout shoes, I want a color scheme that will match anything. So now that's what I do, I get greys or light blues so I don't look like a teenager in a mall. LOL!!!

Jolie - Great workout yesterday!! I love how you use your rowing machine betweent sets, that is cool. I heard that about what Pelosi said, she needs to be dethroned and fast.

Diane - Nice job with your workout yesterday. These fitbits are crazy, aren't they? My HR was so high on my MT this morning, I just don't get why it can't see that. It is the most accurate when I'm just walking on my treadmill, it is usually at a steady 120-122. Oh well, they are only tech devices after all. That boxing and arm workout you did did look a bit daunting, but I would like to try it eventually. Once I get this tricep and upper back to feel better, I will try it. I need to stretch more, geez, I don't know why that's so hard for me to make time to do.

Have a great day and great weekend everyone!!!
