Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for August 2023

Hi,

Today I walked outside. I signed up for a live beginner, 60 min belly dance class via zoom. It’s low impact. The belly dance was so much fun. The instructor was amazing, before the class began she gave me a lot of modifications/tips for my knees. I loved it so much I will continue. I always wanted to learn how to belly dance. My DD encouraged me to try it out. Glad I did. I think I would my new passion, lol. I love to dance.

Debbie - great job on your workout yesterday. Good for you for voting! The PT is helping a lot.

Diane - I am going to get a referral for another orthopedics. I don’t think it’s normal I am day in and day out in pain. The baker cyst borders me a lot. I haven’t decided what I want to do next? Great job on your workout.

Jolie - thanks on the floors. We are happy the way it turned out. My husband does most of the heavy work. Dogs have a lot of energy especially if they are youn.

Doreen - I had the Paul K. Set for a few years still in the box. I heard only good things about the set. Glad you like it. Maybe I will Paul after I am done with STS2? Hope you enjoyed your camping trip. We had a tornado warning yesterday.

Roselyn - great job on your shoulder.

Have a great day and workout.

I am back from breakfast and games and had a lot of fun. I am hosting next month. I still feel some discomfort today. I think I will try to do just some lower body stuff with bands and floorwork rather than heavy dumbbells tomorrow.

Debbie, I think that most people are not that willing to research and figure out what is going on realizing there is a lot of deceit out there. I would definitely pay attention to who it is that is pushing it.
Great job on STS Meso 2 biceps and triceps.
I stretch and do mobility almost every day. It does get frustrating. What happened to your ankle/calf reminds me of the time I had the knee seem to lock out in pain just getting up off the floor. I pushed to get up and it was so bad I could not stand up all of the way. I kept trying to work it out and even when I sat on a bar stool it would go back to hurting. It took a couple of days to clear completely. The next time I was very careful and got my leg straightened out on the floor and put pressure on it and something snapped back in place and just a little massage and no more pain. It happened a third time and I did the same. I have not had that happen in a long time. I do not understand this on the neck and back link. I can lean my head over today and only feel a slight bit in my upper back so that is good. It seems like side leaning overhead triceps would make the shoulder more vulnerable. I am trying to avoid much overhead stuff.
I take magnesium all of the time. I could be low on potassium. My Fitness Pal usually shows me having hardly any, but I wonder if potassium is not figured in a lot of the foods in the nutrition section. I have thought about adding it, but too much is dangerous, so I avoid trying it.

Jolie, I am sure eventually your dog will calm down some. I do not miss those days. Isn't your other dog the same breed?
I take ALA 600 mg every day.

Belinda, that is great that you enjoyed the Belly Dance class and that it is low impact. Nice job on getting the walk in as well. I am sorry you have so much pain daily. I think maybe another doctor would be a good idea.

Today I did a CDoerner kickbox workout. I haven't done kickbox much lately so it was fun.

Issue 1 failed so here we go with Ohio as well. There was so much disinformation released about this issue that it's not wonder it didn't pass.

This morning I did STS Meso 2, Week 2, Back and Biceps but I just did the back work since I did biceps yesterday. Had a great workout.

These have back-off sets. 1 minute rest between each set

BACK
Warmup with Lat pulldowns, T-Pull and Y's
Wide Grip Chin Ups: Band Pulls
Wide Grip Chin Ups: Band Pulls
Close Grip Pull Ups: Band Pulls
(this time I used my tough Golds Gym bands at the max, this was tough)
Barbell Rows: 40# - 12/10/8 reps
Back off set: 30# - 20 reps
One Arm Horizontal Dumbbell Row: 20# - 12/10/8 reps
Back off set: 15# - 14 reps
One -Leg Deadlifts: 20# - 12/10/8 reps

Workout was 36 minutes, burned 186 calories and HR was 102/134. My HR didn't get up that high yesterday or today. Maybe I should walk first to get my blood flowing before doing weights. I'm just afraid of running out of time.

I also walked on my treadmill for about 17 minutes. Burned 161 calories.

Belinda - I'm sorry to hear your knee is still bothering you, I was hoping the shots would work. I hear those don't work after a few times of getting them. The belly dance things sounds fun but I definitely don't see myself doing that! LOL! Glad you had fun with it.

Diane - Glad you had fun at your ladies group. I bet you like it when you have it at your house! At least no traveling for it. I remember that about your knee, that was weird. My calf is still a bit tight but thankfully doesn't hurt anymore. I put the heating pad on it again last night, that really seems to loosen it up and get the blood flowing. I didn't know you could take too much potassium. I have a banana every day so I'm hoping that is enough potassium for one day. I need to do research on that.

Jolie - I'm really enjoying the STS Meso cycle, I'm thinking about doing the last cycle as well if I don't injure myself before I get to it. Knock on wood. So far so good but sitting all day is creating havoc on my upper back again. Now that my calf is better I'll be standing more during work. Sitting is just the death of us!! I get that about your dog, LOL that his so rambunctious!

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning,

Today I did Body Parts Biceps. No walk outside.

Debbie - thank you. It is what it is. I am very carful with my knees. Nice job on your Back and biceps this morning. LOL, belly dancing is fun. I always wanted to learn it. I always loved Zumba classes no wonder I like belly dancing. It’s very fun. I interact with the instructor over zoom, she is super supportive and sweet. I like I can ask her questions on my form and she is right here to answer them. I will take another live belly dance tomorrow. Did I mention my DD bought me 2 hip scarf with coins, lol.

Diane - glad you had fun with the ladies group. Belly dancing is a lot of fun. It’s also good for posture and to strengthen my quads plus it’s super fun. It’s like taking an in person class without leaving your house. Great job on your workout.

Roselyn and Dorren - great job yesterday.

Have a great workout everyone.

Today I had an excellent workout, I did Cathe's STS Meso 1 Disc# 4 Chest, Shoulders and Biceps. Workout was 1 hour and 5 minutes, I had to stop to write everything down, and I burned 457 calories. I dropped my poor dog off to be neutered, I felt so bad for him. These workouts in this meso are so long, I am not going to type the whole thing out. this workout had 30 exercises, most x 16 or 21 reps. There is a lot of BB Bicep work in this one and my muscles are PUMPED! I am doing this mesocycle to get in shape to do the next one next month. I really have lost a lot of muscle walking the dog so much that I need to get it back. I think this is part of the reason why I have gained weight, my body loves when I lift weights. Also, when it starts to get cooler, I will get more Max Trainer, Rowing, Elliptical and Uphill TM walking in again to fire up the metabolism.

Debbie, great job on the Back workout today. I saw on Fox News that Ohio lost that vote, what a bummer. People only do what Social Media tells them to do, they do not investigate the issues themselves. Or I am going to vote for whatever my favorite celebrity votes for!!!!!!!!! Don't get me started!

Belinda, great job on the belly dance workout, that sounds like fun!

Doreen, way to go and getting some kickboxing in for a workout, I miss doing those myself. I might just have to do a kickboxing workout tomorrow, I must have fear of missing out. :)

Diane Sue, I so happy you had a nice ladies day with your friends. I hope your body feels better today and you got a good night's sleep.

Roselyn, nice job on the walk.

Make it a great day.

Today I did Coffey Fit Raw Below the belt, 35 minutes, 80 calories, heart rate 91/128, 405 steps. This one uses an 8# vest and 2.5# ankle weights. I then did Cathe, Boss Loops Glutes and Cores doing only the standing glute work and no floor work. This was 28 minutes, 93 calories heart rate 104/138, 1,242 steps. I finished with CDorner Back and Hips stretch, 30 minutes, 37 calories. Total time was 93 minutes, 210 calories, 1,673 steps. I had to get on Amazon to see what weight my middle vest was. It was 8# and I am going to put the weight on the little tag in it. I am taking it slow this week. No workout tomorrow as I go to the pulmonologist tomorrow morning.

Debbie, nice work on STS Meso 2 Back from back and biceps. You do a lot better on calories than I do with my watch. My heart rate was not bad, but I always feel like 30 minutes and 80 or 90 calories should be what I get from half an hour of yoga. I had wondered if I used the heating pad it might have been more effective than the ice. Most medical sites say to not take potassium unless your doctor says it is okay. I think eating some potassium rich foods should be enough. Too much potassium can cause abnormal heartbeat and even heart arrythmia. Low levels can also alter heartbeat. Usually veggies, fruits, and meats have plenty in them. I have been drinking some orange juice or eating an orange in the mornings with my protein bar lately to get some C and potassium. Sorry about the Ohio vote. I heard them talking about it on Fox as well.

Belinda, nice job on STS 2 Body Parts Biceps. That is so sweet that your daughter bought you the scarves with coins for belly dancing. Wasn't there a Zumba workout that had some Belly Dancing in it? I may be wrong, but it seems like I did it before.

Jolie, nice job on STS Meso 1 chest, shoulders, and biceps today. Can't you just print the worksheets up off of the workout manager for the workouts? It seems like it would be a lot easier than writing it all out. I make notes on them for changes I make. Thanks, I do feel better today and got more sleep last night. Hopefully I sleep well tonight since I have to get up and go to this new doctor. I have to leave extra early to find which building he is in.

Roselyn, nice work on Upper Body chest, back and shoulders.

This morning I did RAW Heavy Bag/Shadow Boxing, this is the workout with Kelly's son, Zach. Love this one and the music. Just a great, controlled, boxing workout with abs at the end.

Workout was 40 minutes, burned 391 calories, did 2847 steps and HR was 149/182. Sort of high today, not sure why. I sure didn't feel like I was at 182 at any time during this workout. It is not a high cardio workout so not sure if that was even right.

I have also been following a doctor on Youtube - motivationaldoc - I like this guy and this video has been helping me with posture and sitting in a freakin' chair all day. Those of you who work in an office, I recommend you watch this video and do these exercises when you can. They are easy and it only takes like 5-8 minutes to do them. I've been doing them and I notice a great improvement in my posture. Here is the link:

Belinda - LOL on the hip scarf with coins! How cute is that!!! Glad you are having so much fun with those workouts. Great job with your biceps work yesterday!

Jolie - That is the issue I have with STS workouts - they are SO LONG!! At least with the ones I'm doing it's easy to split them up. Nice job on Chest, Shoulders and Biceps yesterday. I hope your dog is doing ok. Yea, why did John Legend even have a say in Ohio's Issue 1? He lived here for 3.5 seconds for goodness sakes. Idiot.

Diane - Great workout yesterday! how is your neck and upper back today? I will definitely not take extra potassium, I didn't know that. Thanks for telling me.

Have a great day everyone!!

Today I did not have to walk my pup because he is recovering from his surgery, and he is doing great! I walked on a steep incline on my TM, 1 hour, traveled 3.2 miles and burned 639 calories. My hamstrings are "talking to me" right now in a good way! It feels so good to be back on my TM, I like to do the incline walking, it leans out my legs. I was supposed to do some rowing today, but my upper body is sore from yesterday's workout I just cannot do it.

Debbie, great job on the boxing workout today. I cannot wait to get to Meso 2, I love those workouts, but I am definitely enjoying Meso 1 this time around. I cannot wait to get some real muscle back on my bones, I like the way I feel with more muscle.

Diane Sue, I do not print out the forms because I have a binder that I like to keep my workouts written down in and I sub out so many exercises do to injury that I end up writing down a lot anyway. Good luck at the doctors today.

Roselyn, great job with the weight workout yesterday. Are you still doing STS 2.0?

Belinda, you have to post a picture of yourself in your scarf and belt, I would love to see it!

Doreen, I hope you have a great workout today.

Make it a great day today. We have rain today; this is totally unheard of in CA during the summer.

Hi,

Dance and STS Body Parts Triceps is done.

Diane - DD is sweet. It was a suprise when she got me the hip scarf.

Debbie - the hip scarf helps helps you align your hips. That’s what I read online, lol. I like the sound the coins make when I move my hips. It’s super fun and quite the workout. You get a lot of ab workout in, lol. Great job on your boxing workout today.

Jolie - no pictures ,no belts, lol. I only wear a hip scarf over my workout leggings, no belly is exposed. DH isn’t allowed to watch me dance. It’s strictly for fun, lol. It’s raining here today.

Diane - Zumba is a Latin dance. Lot’s of twisting. Belly dancing is all about your core, quads and hips. Not a lot of foot moving in belly dancing. I am doing the beginner classes. I am learning the ABC’s ’s of belly dancing. It’s super fun. I was sweating like crazy. The class is 60 min and you move the entire time except at the half mark, she takes a water break or talks to us.

BBL!

No workout today. I got home from my appointment at the time I would normally workout but was just not in the mood for it. They were quick to get me in. I arrived 40 minutes early and expected to have a wait.
They are going to schedule me a procedure where they run a scope from the nose to the lung to check for infection. The doctor says I have bronchiectasis. There is not a cure and they need the test to know what meds I need. I am bummed.

Debbie, I subscribed to the Motivational Doc channel several years ago. That is a good method for working on the posture. Nice job on the boxing/shadow boxing raw workout. I have only done that one a couple of times.

Jolie, I am glad your dog is resting. I had one that as soon as she came home she was tearing all over the place. It was hard to get her to rest. She broke some stitches loose. Nice work on the treadmill climbing today. That makes sense on doing your own work sheets with all of the notes and substitutions. My STS 2 workouts are getting kind of messy as I made changes.

Belinda, I do not have the Zumba workouts anymore or I would have went and looked. It seems like it was just an add on bonus or something. Then again I may be thinking of another workout series I used to have. That is interesting that it is a zoom class. Are there many there at the same time?

Roselyn, nice job on a Hiit workout.

Diane Sue, do you take NAC Detox Regulators, Olive Leaf and Oregano Oil? I would start taking high doses and see what it does along with a Cayenne Supplement. I hope they get to the bottom of it but I would take these supplements to attack the issue naturally. I am sure you take these but just a suggestion.

Today is my rest day for the week. I slept so good after that uphill walk yesterday. I feel great today, but I am scheduled to rest since I am in the gym Saturday and Sunday.

Belinda, great job with the dance and STS workout.

Roselyn, good job on the workout yesterday.

Debbie, I hope you were able to get in a workout today.

Make it a great day.

Ooops! Sorry, I did that. Not sure how I even got to the July posts. My bad!!

This morning I did RAW Burn Out Lower Body and had a really good workout. I went way lighter than Kelly because my right knee now hurts and because of the calf issue from earlier in the week. It still feels weird. That's why I didn't do the STS Leg workout, the trisets are too much on my knees.

Each superset is done 3 times - 45 seconds on/15 off

Squats: 12's
BW Squat Up to Calves

Reverse Lunges: 10's
BW Lunges w/Pulses

Plies: 15#
BW Plie Pop (No pop for me I just did pulses)

Front/Side Lunges: (I did Elevated Deads using 30# barbell)
Side to Side BW Lunges: (I did Firewalkers w/pink material band)

Bridges: I did my own type of bridge using my pink cloth band and pulsing outward when I lifted. Really felt these.

Workout was 45 minutes, burned 263 calories and HR was 114/170.

Jolie - Great workout yesterday, you really get some great calorie burns. I'm wanting to do Meso 3 when I get to it, I hope I can. I hate the long rests but that segment really puts muscle on. My arms are starting to look good a toned again. Love it!!

Belinda - I've always admired the belly dancers, they can move like nobody's business!! LOL!! And funny on how your DH can't watch you, I'd be the same way!!!

Diane - I am so sorry to hear about this test you have to go through. I hope they sedate you for it. Sounds painful. I will keep you in my prayers. What is the reason you went to the doctors in the first place? Your allergies?

Roselyn - Great job with your workouts this week!!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Hi,

I walked outside this morning and did yoga.

Debbie - I always admire the belly dancers too. They sure can move. My husband has no business watching me dance, lol. The only one is allowed watching me is Sadie :) Nice lower body workout today.

Diane - I am so sorry you have bronchiectasis. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayer. Did they put you on antibiotics?

Roselyn - great job on the HiiT workout.

Jolie -enjoy your rest day today.

Have a great Friday everyone.

Good Afternoon,

We were on vacation this week camped at the lake so I got a lot of walking in plus doing my Sure Thing workouts. I was disappointed that my new Kelly workout did come while I was gone.

Jolie- what do you recommend for joint pain I have a hip I am pretty sure is messed up but I am not going to talk to my doctor about it she cost me enough money with all the heart testing and they didn’t find anything?

Belinda, it is nice you got outside for your walk and yoga today. No, they did not give me any meds yet. He wants me to have that test/procedure done so he can see if there is infection. He has the CT scan results. I suppose he needs to wait till we can do that so he knows what antibiotics and meds to give. He would have set up that appointment for next Friday, but I did not have someone to go with me. My husband is on for extra hours and days at work for someone else. So, I had to come home to check my agenda book. They are supposed to call me, but so far I have not heard anything. He told me after they do the test it takes 2 or 3 weeks to get the results.

Jolie, i am glad you slept well after that hill climb. Enjoy your rest day. I am going to take some more rest days while my grandson is here. Somehow, I have a feeling we will be going to the playground in the 100-degree temps. I have not used NAC for a while now. I also ran out of the Ultra Cur Curcumin that uses NAC for their scaffold. I use Garden of Life oil of oregano every day. Maybe I should up to twice a day. That stuff is great. I had a keratosis (I think that is what the doctor called it) that got to an inch diameter. I mixed oregano oil with extra virgin coconut oil and put it on several times a day and after a few months it was completely gone. I have let some of my supplements run out and need to restock. I tried Ultra Botanica Ultra Broc which was supposed to be a cleanse and also used a bottle of their SenUltra which has ficetin, curcumin, quercetin which is supposed to clear senecent cells. Ultra Defense has olive leaf with curcumin, zinc, and D in it. I need to shop. I wish things were not so expensive. NAC and Olive leaf is a good idea. I realized before this that something is up because of the down turn of my weight and feeling super tired all of the time. They saw patches on my lungs a year ago, but this time they were more pronounced. Also, my primary care and my arthritis doctor had noticed my white count is low. I am making a bone broth smoothie at night before bed with Ancient Nutrition Salted Caramel and peaches with plain extra probiotic yogurt. It gives me more calories. It seems ridiculous when I work so hard at health and things are not going well. I was 104 at the doctors yesterday with my shoes and clothes.

Debbie, nice workout. I am sorry that your knee is bothering you. I have that happen off and on. My surgeon told me that I had a lot of arthritis in my knee and I would still experience pain from that. Same was said with my shoulder. I guess that goes with aging.

Roxie, I bet camping was fun. How do you like the Sure Things workout? I put them in my shopping cart and then held off thinking they might be put up on the Raw channel. I do like the dvds for premixes though.
