Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for August 2023

Evening,

I walked outside this morning plus did Body Parts Biceps and a nice long stretch. I had an Orthodontist appointment this afternoon. I picked up a new set of trays. If all goes well I should be done with Invisalign in October. After my appointments I stopped at Costco to pick up a few things.

Jolie - congratulation on your son. Great job on STS M1 D1. I still love those workouts.

Debbie - sorry you’re back to work. Time went by fast. I saw on FB, if there is enough interest in the Fit Tower they will bring it back. I was wondering why I didn’t see the tower on the Cathe site.

Diane - great job on your workouts lately. If I remember correctly? Did you say you had a Bakers Cyst? If so, how did you got rid of it? Mine is bordering me like crazy.

Roxie, Doreen and Cam - I hope you had a great workout today.

Good night.

Today I did STS Meso 2, Legs Disc 14 and had a really good workout. I didn't go heavy with the weights and glad I didn't because by the third triset segment, I had to leave out the 3rd set. My knees were both feeling it.

Trisets - 3 times through each triset
Wide Stance Squats: 15's/10 reps
One Leg-Elevated Lunges (BSS): 12#/10 reps
Wide Stance Deadlifts: 15's/10 reps

Static Lunges: 12's/10 reps
Plie Squats Alternating Hand: 20#/10 reps
One-Leg Slide Back Lunges: 12's/10 reps (I just did back lunges, no plates)

Stiff Leg Deadlifts: 35#/10 reps
Side Slide Lunges: 15#/10 reps (I did Cross Back Lunges)
Narrow Stance Squats: 15's/10 reps
Only did 2 sets though with this one, had to stop on the third set.

Calf Raises: 15's - both calves at a time turning toes forward, out and in (Cathe does one calf at a time)

Workout was 45 minutes, burned 297 calories, HR was 118/157.

I also took time to stretch really good.

Jolie - Wow, congrats to your son! What an accomplishment! And I can only imagine the background check for one of those jobs!! I have to get fingerprinted every 5 years for my job. Great job on your long workout yesterday! KILLER!!

Diane - I love the Box 4 Your Waistline workout, that one is a good one. I like the Kickboxing one also. Great job with your workout!

Belinda - You've had those Invisaligns for a long time. I had braces when I was a kid, that was no fun!! LOL!! A lifetime ago!! Yikes!!

Have a great day everyone!!

Hi,

Walk outside and Body Parts Triceps is done. I will get a nice stretch in later.

I had to take Sadie to the vet this morning, she has a lump on on her chest. The vet took a biopsy, we will get the results in 7 day’s. I pray it’s not cancer.

Debbie - lol, in June I passed the 5 year mark. That is a long time. Remember my other orthodontics didn’t know what she is doing. She messed my teeth up. Funny part, I can’t sue her. That’s the law here in WV. I am still pissed every time I think about it. Great job on your leg workout this morning.

Have a wonderful day and workout everyone.

Today's workout was just walking with my pup, 1 hour 16 minutes, traveled 4 miles and burned 702 calories. We walked fast today through the hills, and I was huffing and puffing in some spots but otherwise I am in really good shape from all of this walking each day. I am sore from yesterday's workout, I have Back and Triceps to do this weekend. I slept well and I am tired today. Right now, I could not do that 2 hour workout back to back, it would kill me :)

Debbie, great job on the STS leg workout today, you killed it! I have not done a stand-alone leg workout in years, it is too hard on my knees, and I suffer too much afterwards. Now I do a ton of walking, elliptical, rowing, Max Trainer and things like that and I can actually get myself into a pair of jeans since my legs are leaner. If I lift weights for legs, no wearing jeans period!

Diane Sue, great job on the workout yesterday.

Belinda, I had braces on for 4 years when I was a kid, so glad my parents did that for me because I love my smile and I love to smile!

Roselyn, nice job on the workout yesterday. How is your grand baby and your mother doing?

Cam, I hope you are all right and I hope the same for your mom. Check in with us soon to let us all know how you are doing.

Happy Friday.

Good Morning,

I did Sure Thing BodyWeight Burnout 2 cardio moves and 2 slider moves then a slider burnout at the end I really don’t like all the slider work in these workout.

This morning I did WO 2 of Katami 4x4. The format is going to get old even though each workout is different exercises. Still 4 blocks of 4 exercises repeated 2x.

Belinda, nice work on STS 2 body parts biceps and long stretch yesterday and body parts triceps today. I hope Sadie is okay. Maybe it is a lipoma or cyst? I bet you are excited to be done with Invisalign. You have been doing that for a very long time. I gather the orthodontist change is working. My bakers cyst was gone after the torn miniscus surgery. I also had a ganglion cyst years ago on the side of my knee and it really bothered me. I went to an orthopedic sports surgeon who removed it. They left me with a 5 inch scar. I bet they would do it differently now. It is my understanding they do not always need anything done unless they bother. Usually they say ice. They can use a steroid but I am sure you are not needing to do that. Both cysts showed up with injuries. The ganglion showed up and started bothering me after an accident where I hit my knee on the steering wheel when my vehicle tipped over.

Debbie, great job on STS legs trisets. Good choice to leave off the third round. I probably should paid attention when I did STS 2 trisets as that is the one that hit me in not such a good way when I did it. I think I pushed to hard starting out. I am glad I changed the moves some on shoulders today. I went to reach up when drying my hair and the front of my shoulder felt something not good when I had my arm overhead. Sort of a catch in it and the biceps. Maybe the tendon in the front.

Jolie, great job on the walk today with the pup. I think our bodies try to tell us when they need rest.

Roxie, nice job on Sure Thing Body weight burnout.

Doreen, Workout 2 of Katami 4x4. Is all of the workouts that format?

Today I did CDorner 80's step 31 minutes, heart rate 111/134, 119 calories, 2,094 steps. I then did the first 22 minutes of CDorner Cardio Kickbox, 131 calories, heart rate 143/170(loosened my watch one hole), 2000 steps. I finished with STS 2 Mat Yoga 23 minutes, 36 calories. Total time was 76 minutes, 286 calories, 4094 steps. I was reading up on why my Garmin kept telling me my Sp02 was in the 80s. It said that it needed to be tight enough so light did not escape so I tightened my watch band which was the last hole in it. I keep forgetting to loosen it and my readings for heart rate are lower when it is tight. I had it tight during the step workout.

Today I went for a walk with my pup at the beach, 1 hour 36 minutes, traveled 5.1 miles and burned 827 calories. Hopefully tomorrow I can do STS Back and Triceps since my husband will be off work and will walk the dog for me.

Hi,

Walked this morning and did a nice stretch.

Diane - nice job on your leg workout and today’s workout. Sorry about the scar. I have a bakers cyst and a torn meniscus. I been having problems for a long time. Maybe my torn meniscus isn’t as bad for surgery. I do feel pain behind (and also inside) my knees, which is driving me nuts. I think I need to see a different orthopedic. I am icing and got the steroid shots. It did get a little better, as soon as I walk or do anything I am in pain again. I just don’t get it. Thanks for your input.

Doreen - did you like the workouts? I still haven’t done them.

Jolie - great job on your walk with your dog. I have backs tomorrow.

Good night.

I was supposed to do meso 1 Back and Triceps today, but I just cannot do it. I am so tired today; I need a rest day. I looked back on my calendar, and I walked 24 miles, and that is just with the dog, not my everyday walking around. I did get in Chest, Shoulders and Biceps, I will do Back and Triceps tomorrow. Another reason I am so tired is, the dogs barked all night long, the coyotes were out, and the dogs were going crazy! Hopefully next week will be better for my workouts since my dog is getting neutered on Wed and will not be able to take long walks for at least a week.

Hi,

No walk today. DH and I finished the floor in the kitchen. We still have a few touch ups to do. We love how it came out.We are taking a few weeks off, than start upstairs. DD and her BF came to visit and to drop off Cooper. We had a beautiful afternoon. After DD and her BF left I did Body Parts Back. Now it’s time to relax. I have PT tomorrow afternoon.

Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone.

This morning I did STS Meso 2 week 2 and I worked Chest and Shoulders. I know Triceps is on this workout as well, but I wouldn't have had time to complete it so I'll do it tomorrow with Biceps. I wanted some walk time on my treadmill.

Weird thing happened, right after I did the first set of incline presses my calf started having a charlie horse and I rubbed it right away and it traveled down to just above my ankle, which is really weird. Never had that happen before. It really hurts right now when I pull my toes up. Not sure what you are supposed to do with a charlie horse that doesn't work itself out. I walked slowly on my treadmill in hopes that it would go away but it hasn't. :(

1 minute rest between each set
CHEST
Incline Dumbbell Bench Press Warmup: 15's - 2 set/12 reps
Incline Barbell Bench Press: 20's - 12/10/8 reps
Incline Barbell Bench Press - Back off set: 15's 20 reps
Incline Dumbbell Flie w/Rotation: 55's - 12/10/8 reps
Incline Dumbbell Flie w/Rotation - Back off set: 12's/20 reps
Flat Barbell Bench Press: 20's - 12/10/8 reps
Flat Barbell Bench Press - Back off set: 15's 18 reps

SHOULDERS
Standing Overhead Barbell Press: 20# - 12/10/8 reps (could have gone heavier)
Standing Overhead Barbell Press - Back off set: 185# 16 reps
Standing Lateral Raise: 10's - 12/10/8 reps
Standing Lateral Raise - Back off set: 5's/15 reps
Seated Rear Delt Raise: 12's - 12/10/8 reps
Seated Rear Delt Raise - Back off set: 8's 20 reps

Workout was 45 minutes, burned 219 calories. HR was 104/148.

No time for personals. I hate working, have I told you all that lately? :(

Have a wonderful day!!

Today I started with a 40 minute dog walk in the hills and I burned 405 calories and traveled 2 miles. I have decided to walk him less a few times per week so I can do a weight workout afterwards. Next, I did Cathe's STS Meso 1 Disc# 2 Back and Triceps and had a great workout. The workout was 1 hour and I burned 419 calories. I subbed out all of the free weights for back and used my cable machine instead. Since I have switched to the cable machine, I no longer hurt my back! :) Have you noticed; I barely go to the Chiro anymore! Total workout was 1 hour 45 minutes and I burned 821 calories. I am not going to type the whole workout out, it is long with 34 exercises.

I got on the scale this morning and I have gained 5 pounds this summer, WTF! With all of the walking that I have done the past few months, I am shocked! I do know that in the summer I tend to eat more and probably not as good as I should so that must be the reason. I am bumbed out! It is time to get serious again and loose the weight before the holidays.

Debbie, great job on the STS workout today. I am really enjoying Meso 1, I usually love Meso 2 more but right now I like the higher reps. Weird about the pain in your leg down to your ankle, it is probably just a spasm. If it is a spasm, let it be otherwise stretching it will make it worse. I would take some Magnesium and maybe put an anti spasm cream on the area that is bothered.

Belinda, great job on finishing the floors, that is amazing!

I hope you all have great workouts today. The weather is like Fall this morning, cool and dry for once!

We took a quick camping trip this weekend to some alpine lakes for a bit of hiking and fishing and 4 wheeling.

I did Penny Barnshaw's Strength drop-sets this morning from YT. I like this format and they are only 30 minutes long. I can't seem to squeeze any longer of workouts in anymore!

Belinda - I like the Katami 4x4 format mostly. It can get long though but his exercise choices have been good so far. You can level up or down at your preference. I do mostly level 2.

Yesterday I woke up with my left upper back spasming. I could barely tip my head to that side and it would send pain shooting down it. I couldn't reach overhead. I ended up icing and doing SPS 2 chair yoga and some foam roller. I rested all day. Today it is better, but I still feel it some. Today I wanted to be careful so did Jessica Smith Walk Strong 3 step and stride, 32 minutes, heart rate 133/149, 179 calories. I followed it with STS 2 Total Body Stretch, 23 minutes, 29 calories. Total time was 61 minutes, 202 calories, 4,038 steps.
Tomorrow I will be taking another rest day. I will be getting together with my lady's group for breakfast.

Belinda, that is where my knee that had the torn meniscus hurt. Did the doctor have you get an mri to check and see how much of a tear and what is going on? Maybe another doctor could come up with something that will help.
I bet it felt good to just admire and enjoy the work that you did. You probably could use a rest before going on to the next project. That is nice you got to spend time with your daughter and her boyfriend. Nice work on Body Parts Week 11 Chest today.

Debbie, great job on STS meso 2 week 2 Chest and Shoulders. Ouch on the charley horse. I usually massage out those things and stretch a lot. Maybe soak in some epsom salts I hope it feels better now.

Jolie, great job on STS Meso 1 back and Biceps and still getting in the walk. Good idea to make some walks shorter so that you can get in weights as well. It does seem that you have found ways to keep from going to the chiropractor. I gather the collarbone is getting better. Maybe the extra weight is muscle from all of the hill climbing you have been doing this summer.

Doreen, that sounds like a fun weekend. Nice work on Penny Bradshaw drop sets this morning.

Roselyn, nice work on shoulder day.

I had to go vote this morning so I only did weights. We have an issue we are voting on where in order to change our Ohio Constitution they want to change it to 60% majority instead of 50% + 1. I am voting for it because the woke are trying to pass all kinds of crazy things here. I think it should by 60% anyways, it shouldn't be that easy to change our constitution. We'll see how it goes, so much disinformation out there about this issue that I don't even know if people know what they are voting for.

Anyways, I did STS Meso 2, Disc 18 and 16 but only did Biceps and Triceps. Great workout. I know I can go heavier, I'm just worried about injuries. I will take this slowly.

BICEPS
Barbell Curls: 30# - 12/10/8 reps
Back off set: 20# - 20 reps
Seated Alternate Dumbbell Curls w/Twist: 15's - 12/10/8 reps
Back off set: 12's - 20 reps
Hammer Curls: 16's - 12/10/8 reps (Cathe does Concentration Curls)
Back off set: 12's - 18 reps

TRICEPS
Lying Barbell Triceps Extension: 25# - 12/10/8 reps
Barbell Triceps Extension Back off set: 20# - 20 reps
Close Grip Bench Press: 30# - 12/10/8 reps
CGBP Back Off Set: 20# - 16 reps

She does Side Leaning One-Arm OH Extensions but I don't like those so I did the Close Grip ones instead. She also does Kickbacks but I skipped those due to time.

Total workout time was 48 minutes, burned 258 calories, HR was 109/141.

Belinda - I hope your Pt went good. :) Good job with your workout yesterday.

Jolie - I often wondered why you walk so long with your dog, he probably doesn't need that much of a walk to tucker him out. If you shorten the walks you can do weights easily. Looks like that is what you will be doing so good on you!! And yes, with all that walking, how on earth do you need to lose weight? I always lose weight in the summer because I can workout longer and I don't seem to eat as much. Then I gain it back when I sit on my butt all day at work. I put a heating pad on my ankle/calf last night and it's better today. It was really hurting yesterday. I'll probably do the heating pad tonight as well and hopefully it will be good to go. I do take magnesium, I have for years. I was wondering if I needed to add more potassium, that is what helps with muscle cramping and charlie horses I heard.

Diane - I'm sorry to hear about your upper back. Why does that keep happening. I sort of felt like my upper back/neck was spasming this morning but then it didn't. Scares me. Why?? We stretch and are always careful and yet we are plagued with this crap. It's frustrating. My ankle/calf is better but still tight. I wrapped it with my heating pad last night and it relaxed the muscle. Hopefully by tomorrow it will be good.

Roselyn and Doreen - Great workouts!

Have a great day everyone!

Today was a long walk with my dog, yesterday did not turn out so well with the shorter walk. Darn, this dog ran around the house barking and tearing things apart, he has so much energy. Today's walk was 1 hour 5 minutes, traveled 3.5 miles and burned 604 calories. Tomorrow my dog gets neutered so I will get some weight workout in once I drop him off at the vet first thing in the morning.

Debbie, I eat way more in the summer for whatever reason. In the winter when it is cold, I just like soup to eat or something warm and not a lot of it. In the summer I BBQ a lot, hence I eat more meat. Also, I like to drink wine in the summer and that really packs on the pounds. Great job on the Biceps and Triceps workout today. I am really enjoying STS at the moment; it seems new all over again. I have to walk my dog that much each day, it is the type of breed that requires extensive exercise, or they get into a lot of trouble. Good thing I love to walk! Regarding the voting in Ohio, I totally agree with you!

Diane Sue, I hope your shoulder/neck area feels better today. I would take some Alpha Lipoic Acid to help with the spasm, it works really well. Have a nice lady's day!

Belinda, Roselyn and Doreen, I hope you all have great workouts today!

Make it a great day.
