Getting Our Licks In!

STS disc 10 today; first workout of the fourth week of Meso 1. Yeah! Goes by faster than you realize.

Kathy: Cathy does hold the poses for a long time on Yoga Max and Relax. I do the best I can and if I have to back off and resume, so be it. When I get a cold I have the same problem with the lingering cough. The cough is usually the worst part for me. I hope you can lick this thing soon. The 4DS weight workouts are tough. I have not heard of 10 days to a better body. I will have to google it.

Hope everyone else is doing well.
Michelle

I'm at the beach house for a couple of weeks. Rolly and I walked the beach for about an hour today. It was so beautiful and in the 50's. Tonight was the Wedding Video weight lifting. Love the high reps this time.

Michelle, Go glad your are at normal speed now. Great job on yoga max. Congratulations for starting tomorrow your 4th week of STS Meso 1. Good for you.

Kathy Sis, Great job on last nights 4DS back and biceps. Yea! No coughing. It won't be the death of you. But seems the doctors should treat you since it lasts until Spring. That's too long. Glad Mucinex can give you some relief.

Michelle, Great job on STS disc 10 today. You are doing so well!

Take care everyone,

Janie

Party Rocking Step 1 this afternoon. This is becoming my favorite step workout; it is so much fun. The music rocks, the routines are fun, and it just flies by. Also hit two stores this morning and got some great deals on new clothes, plus a birthday gift for my DH. He is a Valentine baby, so I have a few weeks to get ready for his birthday.

Janie: Sounds like a great day on the beach. You give that sweet pup Rolly a kiss for me. I was tempted to do the Wedding Video today, but PR1 was talking to me. Enjoy the next two weeks.

Hi to everyone else.
Michelle

Taking today and tomorrow off for rest days. I have to listen to my body.

Michelle, Great job on Party Rocking Step 1. Hey nice job on the great deals on clothes and a birthday gift for hubby. Awe a Valentine baby, how sweet is that? I gave Rolly a kiss from you.

Take care,

Janie

I've been getting a lot done around the house with exercise included so that's been great. On top of the deep cleaning I'm organizing areas that have gotten scary and it's just a calming/good feeling to have things in order. Still lots to do but I have two more days to work on it. Dave will take Brodie and Lily to ski lessons tomorrow and I'll utilize the time to knock more off my to-do list. Lucas is officially better but now I think teething pain is bothering since he's not sleeping well, it just doesn't end at this age :)

Kathy - Lily has been doing much better so that's been nice. I know she has the sweet little girl in her and the little stinker so it's just getting her to decide to stick with the sweet one all the time :)

Janie - I bought one of those mats for my dad for Christmas a couple years ago and my mom is the one that uses it. She sits with it when reading at night and said her legs no longer ache and fall asleep. I thought they were cool. Great job listening to your body and enjoy that beach while you do it ;)

Michelle - I need to get Party Rockin Step, it sounds like a great time and it's nice to have the workouts that you just enjoy so the dread factor isn't there. Good job planning ahead for his birthday, I hate when they sneak up!

Cindy

Well the days have slipped by and I haven't posted since Tuesday.

Thursday I did Turbo bar! I love this workout but I found it really tough. I hadn't done a barre workout in awhile and it definitely workouts out the body in a different way! Wednesday I went out with Chris to a very nice Bar and had a wonderful dinner and great blues music. We danced together which was nice.

Friday was Cardio Super Sets which I also really liked and thought it was a little 'easier' than Slide and Glide or After Burn which was A-Ok with me.

Saturday Chris took me to the Colorado Stock show which I had never been to before. It was fun and very very crowded. We walked around for hours and my low back was bothering me so I took the day off.

Today I am watching the Bronco's game and I also did Total Body Trisets Lower Body which was very short but sure did pack a punch! I liked the lower legs better than the upper body.

Cindy I am sorry you had a tough week. It so hard when we are stressed out to take care of ourselves! I have a tough time and then I beat myself up about it and that just adds to the stress! Glad you set your foot down and are back to the workouts! They really do help!!! What do you think about P90X3? I have the first one. The workouts are really good but Tony just gets under my skin….

Kathy I am really really concerned about your cough. It's been hanging around for awhile. Maybe you should make an appointment with your DR? Take care of yourself.

Michelle: you have been busy! I just love STS….I had to break away from it to do some other Cathe' dvd's but it just its the best for results! Glad you had some fun shopping! The sales out there are really crazy!

Janie: You guys have really made good use of the beach house! That's so great! How is the yoga and less impact workouts treating your body!? Are you feeling better? It's great you are making progress with the plough!

I am off to Idaho Spring tonight but I am brining my Yoga DVD's from LIS! Then staying in Black Hawk Monday night at a Casino!

STS disc 11, back and triceps , today. Did a little cleaning and ran a couple of errands before settling down for football. DH and I enjoyed watching Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos win the AFC. Now watching the Seahawks-49ers game.

Cindy: I need to do some winter cleaning but I also have getting taxes done on my list as well. It's never ending. Before you know it your little guy will be going to school and you will wonder what happened to your baby. Have you been able to get any workouts in? Weren't you and your DH working out together?

Laura: Those lower body triset DOMs will sneak up on you. It is a nice shorter length workout but does pack a punch. It is so good to have a more light-hearted Laura back with us. I hope things continue to stay positive for you.

Janie: a couple of rest days sound good, but I just have a couple more workouts and then my first active recovery week so I'm hanging in. Enjoy your rest days!

Michelle

Have a little back ache and will use my M.E.L.T. method to help it. I'm back in Shelton. It was a short visit. Will be going again soon.

Cindy, Cleaning and getting organized is so crucial for me as well. It does make a person feel calm. Poor Lucas, hoping his teething will be done with soon. It's nice to know the mat works not only for insomnia but for legs too. I'll be sending something to you tomorrow in the mail.

Laura, Great job on Thurs. Turbo bar. Sounds like Chris is a very nice man. Great job on Frid. Cardio Super Sets, for Sat. For having fun and walking for hours. Also for doing Total Body Trisets Lower Body. Enjoy Idaho Spring and the workouts to come. Have fun!

Michelle, Great job on STS disc 11 back and triceps, cleanmax and errands. Yea for Seahawks. I watched a little of it yesterday. Not such a fan of football, but it was cool. And they won!

Take care ladies,

Janie

Greetings and salutations!

I'm an old member of this forum/thread. Actually I'm Michelle's sister. Hi, sister.

I guess I'm gonna try this again after years of lurking. That was due to an injury and a bad attitude. Well I'm definitely healed and my attitude has vastly improved.

Currently doing P90X. In my 8th week. Second "recovery" week of this program. Seeing good results. Not a fan of Tony Horton. His style and talk annoys me to no end. I love Cathe and Michelle and I are planning on signing up for the road trip this year.

I did IMAX2 yesterday instead of KenpoX. Don't like KenpoX. Have difficulty with YogaX but I've got to try and change my attitude with that one and try to find positive energy. I like PlyoX and Core Synergistcs in P90X. The rest is okay.

OK, this is a good start. Will be back....

Slide and Glide cardio and abs premix today. I was going to do CardioSuperSets but then I realized it had compound weight exercises in the workout so I opted for a straight cardio since I'm getting the weight work with STS. Ya'll know that S&G is one of my favorites so I won't belabor the point. Worked at home today and probably will be working at home tomorrow since we are expecting snow through the day tomorrow. I sat for two hours on I-95 in traffic two weeks ago (and it wasn't raining or snowing) due to an accident. I'm not in a hurry to relive that experience anytime soon especially in snowy weather.

So, I do not think that I shared with you all that I had spoken to the woman who owns/runs Terans Golden Retrievers. That was last Monday. We had a real nice telephone conversation and she provided me with alot of helpful information. Sadly, she bred her last litter last summer. She and her husband are getting ready to retire. However, she did refer me to another golden retriever person outside Richmond, so I will be calling her in the next week. That kennel is named Golden Dome (no web site) but the woman at Golden Dome showed one of her dogs at Westminster last year and Terry Neider at Terans indicated that the woman at Golden Dome is very responsible, very helpful, and very responsive to inquiries and to people who purchase Goldens from her. There also is another kennel just north of Baltimore that my cousin-in-law's sister recommended (Delmarva Goldens--they do have a web site if you want to check out these beautiful pups). And the owner also had a dog at Westminster last year. In the meantime, I'm still doing research and continuing to learn about the breed and what to look for in a breeder and their dogs. All I can say is that it is quite alot of information. Ripken was such a wonderful dog. I will never have another dog just like Rippy because I know that no two dogs, even of the same breed are alike, but I can honor his memory by learning more about the breed and someday being a good mommy to another pup.

Tonight was first: Since I have a sore back did Total Body Sculpting slowly and gently. Did not do any back work. Second, used the foam roller and did MELT by Sue Hitzmann. I keep forgetting about this remarkable way of exercising and my back already feels good. Then I did 40 min. on my back laying on the acupressure mat. And finally a wonderful hot bath with lots and lots of drinking water. I felt rejuvenated all over. And had a heart to heart talk with a friend today. like you guys it's wonderful isn't it to have friends to stir you the right way?

Renee, You can't even imagine how happy I am that you are back! Stay as long as you like, you are always welcome. Injury and bad attitudes do make it hard to reach my goals for sure. I know exactly what you are talking about. Glad you came back to them. Yep, Tony kinda irritates me too. Good job reaching the 8th week of P90X and in the recovery of the program. As always I will envy the both of you at the road trip, but please promise to keep us posted while you are there. How exciting! Also great job on IMAX2 yesterday. I'm sure you already have found your positive energy.

Michelle, Great job on Slide and Glide cardio and abs premix today. I can't wait to it soon, It was a very good workout if memory serves me right. Also glad to see you are protecting yourself from the snow and working from home. Wise of you. So glad you are doing such in depth research on Golden retrievers. I will look up Delmarva Goldens. I'm sure Ripken is happy being remembered in such a positive way. I hope you get Ripken reincarnated. You never know. If there is such a thing he would want the best mom ever.

Take care ladies,

Janie

1-21-14

Saturday I started the 10 Days to a Better Body workout the Upper Body section & abs only. I thought it was pretty good. Its a circuit where you do strength for 1 min. using either 8 or 10# dbs & then you go into a cardio drill. Cindy Whitmarsh shows you the low impact version first & then continues into high. Of course I stayed w/the high impact version. Sunday was KCM's Cardio Quick Fix the 60 min. premix. This is 30 min. of low impact & then 30 min. of high impact drills. I enjoyed it. Sunday was 10DTABB the lower body & abs section. The drills this time were low key & the leg exercises were pretty standard. I liked it. I'm doing the meal plan too which is pretty typical to the way I now eat but we'll see if I lose anything.

Tonight I'll go back to the Upper body & abs workout.

Michelle: Sounds as if pretty soon you'll be getting yourself a pup. How exciting! I hope it goes well after all this researching. Glad you enjoyed RPS#1 again. I still have to practice #5 & #6. Haven't gotten around to doing that yet. And you're flying through STS. Will you be going through the entire STS? Even M3? I too like Slide N Glide but I workout on puzzle mats & find it difficult to use the disks on the mats. There's always one of the disks that will stick on the mats but I still enjoy this workout. At least you can work at home. I'm at work right now & the roads are very slick. Its a coastal storm & everyone that lives out on Long Island are predicting at least 15 inches. :O Say it ain't so! If it winds up being that much I definitely won't make it into work tomorrow. You stay home & safe.

Janie Sis: Good for you for listening to your body & taking rest days. On average I workout 5 days now. I used to be a real junkie & worked out 6 days & if I missed a workout I would do a double dose of workouts the next day. I was crazy! We must've been writing at the same time as I just saw that you did today Total Body Sculpting. Be very careful w/your back. Glad that the bath helped & your feeling better. I should use my foam roller. I'll have to Google MELT. Never heard of it.

Renee: Welcome! Great job on reaching 8th week of P90X. Tony Horton never bothered me but I guess after 8 weeks of listening to him his voice could get on your nerves. Enjoy your recovery week. I used to substitute another kickboxing workout too instead of KenpoX. I couldn't stand that one. I too like Janie will envy both you & Michelle for going to the road trip. I went on the road trip back in 2005. Me & my girlfriends had a blast!

Laura: I have this cough every winter due to my post nasal drip. I'm making an appointment with an ENT doctor b/c my PCP doesn't help me at all. Thx for your concern. Glad your enjoying your new beau Chris. He sounds like a nice man. What's Colorado Stock show? You've been doing great workouts. How was Idaho Spring & Black Hawk?

Cindy: Glad that Lily's doing fine. You've been very busy w/organizing & cleaning + your workouts. I have to get busy too & start organizing. It just never ends. Hope Lucas is feeling better.

Take care ladies,
Kathy

Greetings and Salutations!

Today was Core Synergistics. One of the better P90X workouts in my opinion. Tomorrow I get to do YogaX. I'm trying to find that zone when it comes to yoga. It's not my favorite but I understand it's essential to ones whole body-mind thing when it comes to your health and fitness. Gotta try, that's all I can do.

Laura, I'm so glad you are finding life to be more satisfying these days. Divorce can suck it out of you. I divorced my ex 11 years ago. I've been more happy with ups and downs ever since. I enjoy being single with my 5 cats. Plenty of friends and family near by.

For those of you who don't know me, I live in central Virginia and teach elementary music. We had a snow day today and it barely snowed at all. It's not the first time this has happened and won't be the last. Snow in this parts seems to be a tricky thing to forecast. Just gotta roll with the punches around here.

Kathy, I think you will get a bit of this snow on Long Island. Good place for it! ;) stay safe

Janie, I hope you are having a good day. Take care of that back.

Hi sister and Cindy.

Renee

STS disc 12, legs, is in the books. One more cardio tomorrow and then time for active recovery. Kathy asked if I'd be moving on to meso 2 and eventually 3. Might as well, I'm already one-third of the way into the program. Plus, sister will tell you, I'm kind of anal about sticking with a rotation which I guess extends to STS. We only got a couple of inches of snow here in my part of Virginia (No. Va) but I understand the amount of snow increases as you go north. The roads are very slick and "officials" are asking people to stay off the roads. I expect to be working at home again tomorrow and clearing off the vehicles, sidewalks, and driveway.

Kathy: sounds like you are doing some tough and challenging workouts. I don't know about getting a pup soon. It's just hard to say. Let us know how much snow you end up getting. I think we dodged a bullet on this one in Virginia. Just enough snow so the kids can do some sledding but not so much that it's a pain to clear away from the sidewalks, cars, and driveways. It's the bitter cold that really gets me. Just don't like it.

Janie: you always make your days when you pamper yourself sound so luxurious. I'm kind of jealous. I'm wondering if you have gotten better at this since you retired or if you were able to do stuff like this regularly before retirement. You just seem to have a peaceful, quiet, inner energy.

Sister: Why couldn't we have done core synergistics when I was visiting. That sounds like much more fun. I was checking out some Shiva Rea yoga dvds last night, but I should probably do the Shiva Rea core yoga dvd and the Jillian Michaels yoga dvd that you gave me at least for a while before I order anything else.

Hi to Laura and to Shadowpup if you are lurking.
Michelle

I had a nice long weekend. I was indeed sore from Lower Body Trisets…a very isolated soreness just at the back of the thigh….where I need it most!

Yesterday I took off and today I did Low Impact Challenge. I usually really enjoy this step routine, but today I kinda muddled through. I never got into a zone and I fumbled through every section. I had never nailed the final combo but today I struggled a lot with combos 2, 3 &4 but hey I got throughout and that's better than throwing in the towel which I really wanted to do….

I kinda browsed some older Cathe rotations. Someone had posted a link to '03 rotations and their were so many great rotations! I am getting excited to do the Hardcore Series again! It has some great workouts…

Renee! Welcome back, great to hear from you! Yes divorce is hard and mine has been about as nasty as can be….I have really struggled but getting back into my groove….Worse part is the weight I have put on! Today I was just overwhelmed by it and I have decided to go at pretty intensely starting with a 2 week rapid weightless and cleanse by Dr Oz/ I just need a program I can follow and something I don't have to think about to kick start myself. Definitely been 'comforting' myself with food. Glad to hear you are better after your divorce… I like P90X. My favorite workouts were PlyoX & Core Synergistic too. I liked Kenpo X for a lighter day but I hated Yoga X…such a grueling yoga experience in my opinion

Janie: ahhh you have definitely nailed the self care aspect of life! I am glad you are finding your balance between your workouts and listening to what your body needs…..

Michelle: that is too bad that your first choice in a kennel is no longer breeding but it sounds like she has some good leads for you to follow. People in the business will definitely know who the best breeders are out there. Puppies are so adorable they are impossible to resist. I miss Misty, she has stayed with Bo in the mountains, she is can run free up there and has gotten accustomed to her freedom. Slide and Glide is fun! I think I will reach for it often

Kathy glad you are feeling better. I have problems with my sinuses as well. I seem to have a constant drip from Nov- March. Today my eyes were water and I was sneezing too... What workouts are you doing? I am not familiar with them. I have been none to double too if I miss a workout….

Hi Cindy

Had yoga on the schedule today but decided to do another night like last night. Used the foam roller and did MELT. Then I did 30 min. on my back laying on the acupressure mat. And a wonderful hot bath with lots of drinking water. My doctor left me a message and from giving her my symptoms she thinks it was a muscle in my back. It was really painful at the time. Glad that's over with. Sheesh.

Kathy Sis, Great job on starting the 10 days to a Better Body, Upper Body section and abs only. Sounds like a good circuit. Love those kinds of workouts. And staying with the high version are benefits for you. Then for Sunday's KCM's Cardio Quick Fix 60 min. prmix. Again low and high is such a great workout with so many benefits. Then 10DTABB lower body & abs section. You needed this also to confuse your body. How cool is that?!? I would be totally surprised if you didn't lose anything. Glad you are relooking at the the way you use to work out. There truly isn't any reason to work your body that hard. I use to do the same thing. But injuries forced me to look at it differently. Wise choice. Here is what the book says about MELT:

The MELT Method changes lives. It's a breakthrough self-treatment system that stimulates the amazing healing power of the body's connective tissue and helps relieve aches and stiffness, improve performance, and erase the negative effects of aging. You can transform your body in as little as ten minute a day. It's good for falling asleep or staying asleep, digestive problems, midday fatigue, bloating or weight gain, visible signs of aging and cellulite. Sue Hitzmann, M.S., C.S.T., N.M.T., is a nationally recognized somatic-movement educator and manual therapist. Her decades of practice, research, and study of anatomical science and alternative therapies have culminated in the creation of MELT Method, a revolutionary approach to pain-free fitness and longevity.

My back has no pain what so ever tonight. I believe it worked.

Renee, Great job on Core Synergistics. It sounds intense, but good. I agree, there is definitely a place for yoga in our workouts. My back is really good now. Will be doing a full workout tomorrow. YaHOO!

Michelle, Great job on STS disc 12, legs. Wow already will be doing an active recovery. Time is flying by! Glad you will be continuing with STS and about to do meso 3. Because of the weather, stay warm and safe and glad you will be working at home tomorrow. I've gotten better at doing this pampering stuff. As I age, I'm fighting it tooth and nail and every which way. Learning about new things such as MELT, acupuncture mats and shoes, eating right, and how it's so important at my age to lift weights and do cardio. Even balancing. Oh and of course so important too is yoga. Got ta stretch that body. Circuit and high rep training all to shock your body into confusion which as we all know is very good. I actually like to workout. LOL

Laura, Congrats for the DOM's on the back of the thigh. Great job on today's Low Impact Challenge. It's OK to struggle it just means some days we are stronger than others. Very proud of you for struggling and not throwing in the towel. Good for you! I love the Hardcore workouts. I don't blame you for getting excited in doing them.

Take care ladies,

Janie

Things are back to normal with routines, I had Monday off to wrap up the last of my spring cleaning and errands and then yesterday I was off to a work conference. Everyone seems healthy and I'm caught up on most things at home so I feel really good. I've been on track with my P90X3 routine and I'm really enjoying this series, it's a lot of core and balance and my butt has been sore for days :) Tonight is Yoga and I plan to get to bed early so I can wake up and get a double day in tomorrow to make up for Friday night since we have a sex reveal party for a friend's baby - a first for me!

Laura - I really like P90X3, the workouts are fun and go fast. There is a lot of core and balance and Tony isn't annoying like he was in P90X, maybe it's still new enough for me. I love Turbobarre, it is a burner. So glad you had a great date :)

Renee - Hi! Glad to have you posting. I really like KenpoX but struggled with YogaX, it's too long for me and doesn't have a good flow. The P90X3 yoga has a better flow and I've been enjoying that one.

Michelle - Glad you got some good suggestions on breeders, you'll have another fantastic dog with all the research you're putting into it.

Janie - Good job taking the time to care for your back. There is no replacement for good girlfriends in our lives :)

Cindy

Greetings!

Today I did YogaX from the original P90X. I am getting better at this one. Did really good with the first half and better then usual with the second half. Would like suggestions on other yoga DVDs. And no, going to a class locally really isn't an option. I workout at home, don't see the point in paying to workout when I have a perfectly good "home gym".

Another day off from school. Hopefully school will be in session tomorrow. I like snow days, but snow weeks! :p

With all this extra time on my hands I've been catching up on my shows that I DVR. I'd rather be working. I like having a purpose and plan to my days.

Well, that's all for now. Stay warm...stay strong.

Renee

I am so tired. I think it was the snow clearing today. It was so cold that I could only stay outside for 20 to 30 minutes--tops. Took 3 rounds: first to snovel the sidewalk and driveway, second round was clearing the snow of my SUV; third round was clearing the snow off Joe's SUV. We are all set to be mobile again. Also the installers came today and took out my old dishwasher and installed the new. They also replaced the hoses on the washing machine. Making progress with the "house" stuff. Pushed myself to do Step Jam so I can feel like I'm officially done with meso 1. I like the routines but I feel like Cathy spends too long on the breakdown sections, plus my legs have major DOMs today.

Cindy: I need to borrow some inspiration from you to get some winter cleanout done at my house. I'm like half-way a number of clean out efforts. Just need to get them done already. Your "sex reveal" party had me lifting my eyebrows until I realized that it was for revealing the sex of a baby. LOL!

Janie: glad you're back is feeling better. The MELT thingy sounds interesting.

Laura: I've been wondering about Misty but didn't want to ask. I figured that she probably was with your ex. It's good that she room to run and play. Low impact challenges is one of Cathe's "mental" step workouts. You really have to concentrate--next time around, you'll do better. Your body just needs a little time to "remember" all these workouts. It will happen just stick with it.

Hope Kathy is doing okay. Don't know how much snow they got up her way but I believe it was much more than here in Viriginia.

Back to Quantico and the office tomorrow. It will definitely be another "layer" up day.
Michelle

Today I did the bonus cardio step on Low Impact Challenge which is actually the same as the bonus step on Cardio Super Sets. It was short sweat and effective. I have yogamax up next. I previewed the bonus cardio on Low Impact Challenge and it looks like a sweat fast too! I have the two yoga DVD's and Atheltic Training to do and then I will be moving on from Low Impact Series.

Michelle: BRRRRRR sounds like tons of snow in your neck of the woods! Stay warm and Dry and watch your back shoveling all that snow!

Renee: great job on YogaX. Anyone who gets through P90X Yogax deserves a gold star in my book! :p I like Rodney Yee and I have heard good things about Sheava Rea but I have never done her so….wow are you going to have to make up all that missed school in June?

Cindy: good to hear that things are settled down and you are feeling on top of your game! Going through and organizing is a great feeling! Good Feed back on P90X3 thanks for sharing. I need some short and effective workouts for those days I am short on time.

Janey: wow that Melt method sounds really nice. I just saw some Melt folks on linden and I knew what it was thanks to you! Glad your back is so much better!
