Getting Our Licks In!

Today I did Slow & Heavy Legs and Shoulders. I could have lifted more with my legs than I can lift over my head. I will need to do that routine at the gym were there is a squat rack. Those shoulder were burning!

Today was nice and most the road melted out but getting more snow starting tonight throughout Saturday. Man I need to get on the mountain! So much harder now that I am on the flats!

Everyone seems to be getting there licks in! High Fives to everyone!

GO BRONCOS

Happy Glorious Thursday!

Today is my rest day. So grateful for rest days. While I was stuck home yesterday due to weather related closings, I did a lot of fun stuff. Low Impact Challenge was my main workout. I love that step routine, it is so much fun. The I did old but true Stability Ball Abs. Before doing those DVDs I play Xbox Kinect sports. I haven't done that in a while so that was fun. Perhaps I'll do Just Dance when I get home from work. Then in the afternoon I played Wii Fit. And watched YouTube videos. Tried to sit less and move more on an unexpected day off from work. All in all, it was a good day.

Like most people, I am really tired of winter. The older I get the more I dislike it. Loved it when I was a kid and in my twenties. Not so much now that I'm pushing 50.

Janie, I am a music teacher. I play a little bit of everything but mostly piano, trombone, bass guitar, recorder, flute, guitar. I've had my hands on a great variety of instruments. Jack of all trades but master at none.;) love my job and the kids that I teach. And will continue to do it for as long as possible. No retirement for me for at least 14-15 years.

Excited about road trip sign up tomorrow. Gosh, I hope sister and I get in!

Keep getting your licks in!

Renee

Well I sure didn't get my licks in! LOL Last night was just plain awful getting home. There seems to have been a 3rd rail incident. Its always something w/the LIRR. Got home late. Had to cook dinner, cleaned up & just sat around & watched the finale to the American Horror Story: Coven. LOL

Tonight I'll do Great Glutes the no stability ball premix. Hopefully all will go well w/my commute home.

Renee: You did some interesting active things during your time off. Enjoy your rest day. I too used to enjoy winters. Ah to be young & carefree again.

Laura: Good going w/S&H Legs & Shoulders. I guess the rotator cuff is all right now. You were near the ski slopes before? Not sure what you mean by flats. Sorry city person here. LOL

Janie Sis: What is High Step Circuit? Is this one Cathe's? I remember High Step Challenge but not circuit. Good job. Hope your enjoying time w/your daughter. You are having mild weather. Lucky you. Have fun at the Beach House. Who's Higgin? Did I miss something? LOL I hope you hook up w/the woman that has your guitar. How did I know you did pottery too!! I'm sure those pottery pieces that you created were beautiful just like everything else.

Waves to Cindy & Michelle!

Kathy

Sorry ladies, I keep reading but haven't had time to post. Things have been busy at work and home but I think it's starting to slow back down to normal here. I have not been getting my workouts in and last night I forced myself to do the MMX workout and was so happy I did. I also got up this morning and did yoga and I'll wrap up the day with the Incinerator workout which I haven't tried yet. We are finally back down to normal temps here and have a few inches of fresh snow, it's good to have sledding in our sights again :)

Kathy - Sorry the commutes been so bad, hopefully tonight is smooth for you and it doesn't throw your schedule off.

Renee- Sounds like one awesome active day and fun :)

Laura - Are you going to a big Super Bowl party this weekend? I'm hoping the Broncos win, it should be a good game and we're actually going to a friend's to watch.

Janie - So exciting to get the guitar! How is the piano playing going? I received the earrings and they are so pretty, thank you so much!

Michelle - How are your glutes? Last week I felt like mine had been sore for over a week, I just tried to picture that part of my bum toning up.

Cindy

Hi everyone. Today was the first workout of STS meso 2. Love those 1 minute rests in between sets. Tomorrow, I'm thinking tabatacise. Sister and I will be poised at our computers before 1 pm, ready to register for the Roadtrip. Hopefully our computers cooperate.

Cindy: nice to have you back. Kathy and I are happy to send anymore snow back out west to you. My glutes are still hurting. I like the Jillian Michael's yoga meltdown dvd, but I am still feeling it in my glutes.

Kathy: I feel for you with the bad commute. I had a semi-icky commute tonight--could have been better but it could have been worse. Love great glutes--enjoy!

Janie: high step circuit is a fun workout. You can take it down a notch or kick it up with heavier weights. Good stuff. I wore one of your necklaces today--I get such great energy from your jewelry.

Laura: sounds like a slow and heavy week for you. Those are great workouts.

Sister: back to P90X for you tomorrow.

Ripken would love the references to getting our licks in. Everyday when I workout, I imagine that he is there laying in his "workout" spot. Sure do miss my sweet pup.

Michelle

Roadtrip registration is done for sister and I. She was number 60 and I was number 62. Reservations for the hotel are made as well. Haven't exercise yet, but the heartrate sure went up while registering. LOL!
Michelle

Yippy, skippy, ya-hoo! Sister and I got in the Roadtrip! I was number 60, she was 62. I am so excited!! And we are going to go see Katy Perry in June. Looks like some fun events this summer. I cannot wait. Last summer was pretty uneventful and dull. Glad to have a few things to look forward to.

Today I did Chest, shoulders and Tri's from P90X. Was able to punch out 2 clap push-ups. That seems to be my max, but I couldn't do that 2 months ago, so I'm pretty happy about that too. My shoulders are feeling the "love" and I'm sure the rest will follow as the day progresses.

I hope the Super Bowl will be good. Neither team is my favorite but I'll be pulling for the Bronco's. I like Peyton Manning, he's a class act from a class act family. I watched The Book of Manning on ESPN and thought it was a well documented story of the Manning family. I will probably be watching the game at home with my 5 cats and perhaps some healthy snacks. Gonna stay off the roads, and away from the possible drunks. I hope people will have designated drivers and be safe.

Take care everybody!
~Renee~

I did Incinerator last night and I'll have to up my weights for some of the moves because a few seemed too easy, I am feeling them today though so I guess it did something :) Tonight I'll try the CVX DVD and tomorrow morning I plan to do a Cathe workout, probably Turbo Barre in the morning. Brodie has a sleepover tomorrow night so Lily will have a friend over for a play date in the afternoon. We'll then head to a friends house after ski lessons for the Super Bowl, I will be working out on Sunday morning to make up for the food!

Michelle & Renee - I'm so excited for you! How much fun will the two of you have together!?! So glad you got your tickets, I understand the increased heart rate with that stuff. Great job on your workouts.

Cindy

Had a good time at my daughters and grandson. Didn't have time to exercise yesterday or today. I'm now at the beach and so excited to get my guitar tomorrow.

Laura, Great job on Slow & Heavy Legs and Shoulders. I agree, when using a lot of weight the squat rack will help a lot.

Renee, Glad to see you are getting in rest days. Great job on Low Impact Challenge, also the Stability Ball Abs. I love those too. And play Xbox Kinect sports along with Wii Fit. I love the snow if I don't have to drive in it. Wow you are talented in music. My Joey plays the trombone, but not lately. He says his lips aren't what they used to be. I've been looking for that phrase "Jack of all trades but master on none. Fits me to a "T".

Kathy Sis, Sometimes no matter what we do circumstances simply won't let us do our workouts. High Step Circuit is a Cathe DVD. I love it! You can make this workout simple or very advanced. Higgin is our, well Joe's, adorable calico cat. We've had her about 10 years now. While we were vivisting MI at Higgin Lake (hence her name), we were just taking a walk and I heard something unusual, looked around and here comes this 5 week old kitty and jumped into my hands. We kept her, it was a sign she was ours.

Cindy, I certainly understand how busy you are. Glad you could post a little to see how you are doing. I missed you! Great job on MMX workout. Also yoga. Piano is going slow until I memorize those darn notes and which key on the piano goes with it. It's hard, and unfortunately will have to stop until we get back to Shelton in a few weeks. Glad you like the earrings.

Michelle, Great job on STS meso 2 workout. Awe, sending you more great energy through CyberSpace. So glad you and Renee are registered for the Road Trip!

Renee, It does sound like a lot of fun things to do this year. Lucky! Great job on Chest, shoulders na tri's from P90X. Wow even got to do 2 clap push-ups. So impressed! Joey and I will be routing for Our Sea Hawks.

Cindy, Great job on Incinerator. Enjoy the Super Bowl.

Take care ladies,

Janie

howdy folks

Yesterday morning I got up at 5:30 to get my work out in as I had a pretty full day. I did the step portion of Maximum Intensity Cardio. I was kinds dogging it and I became really aware of the 'negative talk' that goes on in my head all the time! Here I am at 5:30 am beating myself up for not kicking ass at a new workout (to me) and a tough one at that instead of being like wow Laura this is so great that you got up at 5:30 to get your workout in! You are really dedicated and kicking butt!!!! Jeez! I am tough on myself! My body was like what the heck are you doing crazy lady we should be sleeping not jumping all over this box!

Yesterday I also got to check out the new Pilates Studio I will be working at in Louisville. It is beautiful and I am so excited. I love the owner she is super sweet and has a true gift of teaching movement and I am stocked to be in her space and watching her work.

Today I had a private on the Tower and Cadillac which was good but not great. I also did Slow & Heavy Triceps Biceps and Abs. Than I went out to dinner with my new guy. We went to an Italian place and I got this yummy "Italian Chili" which is a soup basically and a salad.

YAY to our ROADIES!!! I am so jealous! Next year I really want to try and go!!

GO BRONCOS

Got my guitar today and even tuned it myself with a Planet Waves Tuner. Very easy to do. I'm in 7th heaven! Looking forward to this. Tomorrow we go to the Oregon Coast.

Update: Tomorrow we watch the Superbowl then on Mon. we go to the Oregon Coast. OOPS!

Laura, A long time ago I saw Maximum Intensity Maximum and Cardio in a 2nd hand store and bought it. Once I did the workouts I didn't look back and from there, I bought all of Cathe's DVD's. I was hooked. Great job doing MIC. We all sometimes are our own worst enemies. Knowing you are doing this and then putting the positive side of it in front is the way to go. Good for you! Love to see the new Pilates Studio. Do you maybe have pictures or a site to see it? It sounds so perfect for you from the studio to the owner. I'm happy for you. Great job on Tower and Cadillac and Slow & Heavy triceps biceps and Abs. The Italian place sounds so yummy. Enjoy your new guy.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Let's see yesterday was Tabatacise 1-2 and core 2. I barely made it through the workout. Going to have to kick up my cardios to get ready for the roadtrip. Did STS disc 14, legs, today. My left glute is talking to me again but I made it through the workout. Worked most of the day on a paper that I need to get done and to my editor by close of business Monday. Getting there. I'm happy with what is done so far. It's good but still lots more to do. That will be my day tomorrow.

Janie: can't believe you tuned your guitar all by yourself using the Planet Waves Tuner. I would have been chicken to do that.

Laura: you are way too hard on yourself. MIC is one of Cathe's hardest workouts. Just getting through the step part is no walk in the park. You've got to start showing yourself more love-- at 5:30 in the morning, no less.

So I realize we've got a Seattle girl and a Denver girl here. But, I too, like sister, am rooting for Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.

Michelle

Michelle, There is so much going on. Update: Tomorrow is Superbowl and will be watching it with Joey. Monday we go to the Oregon coast. LOL

Great job on yesterdays Tabatacise 1-2 and core 2. Also for STS disc 14, legs today. Glad you are making headway on the paper. You'll get it done. It was really easy to tune the guitar. You just set the tuner on the guitar and strum. The tuner will tell you how close you got and you can either make the string a little tighter or loser. When it turns green you got it. Yep, Yea Sea Hawks! LOL This will be my first time ever watching a football game ever, especially from beginning to end. My Joey is proud. LOL

Take care,

Janie

2-2-14

I had a ton of work to do last week so workouts had to be postponed. Yesterday I did Tabatacize #1 then went into Burn Sets (chest) & Core #1 premix. Trying to do the same rotation as I did w/CTX except using Burn Sets. Today will be X10 Step + Burn Sets (back + biceps).

Going to watch the game today while eating some goodies. The Giants or Jets aren't in it so not excited about the game.

Janie Sis: Can't believe you never watched a game before. Enjoy it but I hope you don't get bored. It can go on quite long. Glad you got your new guitar & for tuning it up yourself. I asked my DH if he ever heard of the Planet Waves Tuner & he did hear of it. Says its good for beginners. Enjoy it! Did you ever receive the flash cards for the piano? Have fun at the Oregon Coast.

Michelle: MIC is Cathe's toughest & I also find IMAX3 the toughest too. I never cared for the step portion of MIC but I did like the hi-lo. You write beautifully. I know you'll get your paper done in record time. Enjoy the game today. You'll have a blast at the roadtrip. So glad you got in.

Renee: Congrats on those 2 clap pushups. Wow that's great. I can do them too but only on my knees. LOL Congrats on getting into the roadtrip. You'll have a blast.

Cindy: Great hearing from you. We all know how busy you are. Just post when you can.

Laura: I'm sure you did great w/the step portion of MIC. What's a Tower and Cadillac? I gather its something to do w/pilates. That's wonderful that you'll be teaching in a new facility. Have fun w/your students.

Off to do my workout.

Take care,
Kathy

I hope you don't mind me joining this checkin

Mine is a little bit slow. Today I did some high impact aerobics and my lower body. I hope all of you are doing well. I also ordered the Rock out Knock Out DVD; does anybody have it:"? Could you tell me what you think of it? I watched the preview, and it looked good.

2-3-14

This snow is really wearing me down ladies! Its snowing something fierce today. I'll be leaving work early. We're expecting 8" & more snow Tues. night into Wed. morning! :O I hope I can make it into work tomorrow.

Sunday I did X10 Step + Burn Sets (back/biceps). Did pretty good overall w/the heavy weights but arm is still hurting. In the spring I'll have to start back up again w/pt sessions but this time concentrating more on my shoulder. Tonight I'm going to try my squat rack doing squats, plie squats, lunges & using my leg extension machine. I should have time to do a short premix from Great Glutes. Hopefully I'll get to it tonight.

Janie Sis: You definitely gave those Seahawks postive vibes. What a game! For being the very first game you saw you must've been shouting Whoot! Whoot! LOL What did you think of the half time show? It was definitely not the best. I was shocked that Red Hot Chilie Pepper only sang 1 song. Did you have fun? Hope you enjoying the Oregon Coast.

Caitlin: I have ROKO dvd. Its definitely better than Cathe's Hard Strikes which I can't stand. It will remind you of hi-lo in some sections but its definitely one of her better ones. Go for it!

Having early dismissal today at work.

Take care everyone!
Kathy

HIIT 30/30 yesterday and STS disc 15, back and biceps, this morning. Still working on the paper. It's what I do.

Caitlin: I love, love, love Rockout Knockout--partly because the music is so good. It's not Cathe's most challenging cardio workout but it does the trick and it is lots of fun.

Kathy: How's your core feeling today. I find I always have nice DOMs after the XTRAIN core workouts. My hubby made Paula Dean's Bobby's Goulash recipe yesterday for dinner. It's in her "Let's Celebrate" cookbook. One of my favorites, especially since my DH does the cooking. Our "splurge" for the Superbowl with dinner was cheddar cheese biscuits. Yummy!

Janie: Congratulations on the Seattle Superbowl win. I wish the game had been competitive. I gave up after the Broncos first turnover in the second half and went back to working on my paper. Enjoy your time in Oregon this week. Hope the weather cooperates with your trip. It is pretending to snow here right now after pouring rain all morning.

Hi to Sister, Laura, and Cindy.
Hope everyone has a great week!
Michelle

2-4-14

Last night I did my own leg workout. I used my squat rack using a 50#bb for squats & plies. For once my arm didn't hurt so things are looking up. Next week I'll up the weight to 55#s & see what happens. It makes me sad b/c I was using 100#s for legs before my arm injury. :( After I did those I went & did Bulgarian split lunges using a 20#db. Next did the floorwork from Great Glutes. Oh my all those pizza presses. Legs are nice & toasty today.

Tonight I'll do Rapid Fire 4 Kickboxing & abs premix & then Burn Sets triceps.

Michelle: I had DOMS for 2 days after doing Core #1. I try to catch Not My Momma's Cooking. I must say his recipes are excellent. Glad you enjoyed your Goulash & the cheesy biscuits. I ate junk which I usually never do. My stomach was hurting me yesterday but eased up in the afternoon. You had some terrific workouts. While I was working out I was listening to Cathe's STS Meso 2 disc #14 for Legs. The triset one. I forgot how good that one is. Next week I think I'll do the lunges using the discs.

I'm officially sick of snow!!! We had early dismissal from work yesterday due to the storm. We got 7". My poor DH is so tired. Tonight at midnight more SNOW!!! And sleet. Why not throw sleet into the mix. Hopefully I'll make it into work on Wed. Hope the snowblower holds out.

Waves to Caitlin, Cindy, Laura, Renee & Janie Sis.
Kathy

I've been doing great with exercise and feel like I'm back on track, I love this feeling. Friday I did P90X3, Saturday was CleanMax, Sunday was Turbobarre (my calves are still hurting me), and last night was Isometrix. I planned to get up this morning to do a double workout today but Lucas had other plans and I was cuddling him back to sleep at 5am rather than working out. I think he's got an ear infection again, probably the same one as Amoxicillin doesn't seem to work on my kids. I'll try again tomorrow and hope we have a better night of sleep for him. I'm planning to up my workouts this week a little by having 3 double days.

We are finally back to snow weather and the cold has hit, our highs are -2 today and -4 tomorrow, it will be really cold the next couple nights. I hope the cold stays with us and leaves the rest of you alone :)

Kathy - Sleet mixed in with snow is no fun, I hope some warmer weather hits you soon. You'll get back up to where you were with your legs, I know it's frustrating but life is always a journey to improve otherwise we'd be bored.

Michelle - Great job working on getting the cardio ready for the roadtrip. I know I'd have to get some serious time under my belt before feeling ready.

Caitlin - Enjoy the new workout, it's one that sounds like a lot of fun.

Janie - At least your first game all the way through was a winner for your team :) My hubby LOVES football so we have it on a lot at our house, I get tired of it by about October. So glad you got your guitar and found an easy way to tune.

Laura - It's hard for us to acknowledge our negative talk, I caught myself the other day when I was tired and not really up for working out so I swapped my internal talk and it went better - go figure! Sorry for the loss, I felt so bad for Manning - well everyone really. It was so hard to watch.

Cindy

Last night I did Dynamix and it did my sore calves some good! This morning I was up bright and early for PilatesX and I have Accelerator (I think) planned for tonight.

We got down to -19 last night but I think wind chills have it in the -30 range. That wind just bites at exposed skin. On my walk into work this morning I helped some guys with a woman that we found lying on the sidewalk, I don't think she slipped but she wasn't very responsive and didn't know her name, how she got there or where she grew up. Not sure what the deal was but I hope she's OK. I was really annoyed with the poor bed side manner the campus cop had, he was a bit gruff and mean, thankfully the EMT's know how to deal with people in a softer manner.

Hope everyone is getting their licks in :) !
