Getting Our Licks In!

I had an active weekend with Warrior and the entire TurboBarre workout plus chores around the house. We didn't get out for sledding since Lily has been very naughty at school all week (1 visit to the principal and 4 visits to the behavioral specialist) so we reigned in fun. She has a severe case of middle child syndrome and we're working hard to nip it in the bud. It's stressful and my fingers are crossed she can get back to the sweet girl I know she is. Tonight I'm doing a new P90X3 workout and hopefully it's a good one, I'm so sore from TurboBarre yesterday so it may be interesting.

Michelle - New workout clothes always add a pep to the step! Fingers crossed you have a new puppy this Fall, hopefully a visit will tide you over with a big dose of Golden :)

Laura - We're supposed to hit 40's this week and that's just too warm, all the snow we got this weekend will go away and that's just sad in February! It's nice to hear even Cathe has gone through this :) more of a reason to just keep on pushing through. Great job staying on top of the negative talk!

Renee - Humidity kills me since we only get humid when a storm is coming. If you do ever make it to Montana just be sure it's in the summer time and if you want to see snow Glacier and Yellowstone have it year round but you're not far from the heat :)

Kathy - We got about 8" this weekend but I made Dave shovel :) Spring will be here before we know it, I'm starting to get antsy about planting some seeds inside but it's too far off for that.

Cindy

Sorry about being MIA. Life is getting ahead of me. LOL Yesterday I did Basic Step. Also practiced on the guitar and piano, both for 45 min. each.

Renee, Great job on crushing and getting DOM's form Chest and Back work. Also for Crushing Plyometrics as well.

Michelle, Great job on RS workout 1. I think having a new pup for you guys is wonderful! Fall seems so far away. I can't wait!

Laura, I love Maximum Intensity Strength too. LOVE LOVE IT! I have to agree that the workouts with 3 on one DVD is hard to do because I too forget about them. I think she has a few like that. Be surprised again if not already. LOL I truly think we are our own worse enemy sometimes. So glad you counter the negative with positive thought. I love this group, don't you? And it's really cool to help out one another.

Kathy Sis, So sorry about the amount of snow you are getting. I would be tired of it too. There's an end soon. Great job on Sat. X10 Hi-Lo and Burn Sets chest & Core #1 prem. Sundays Rapid Fire #4 boxing & abs prem and Burn Sets Back. Wow you are doing so well. I love still love the piano and guitar. Both very different with music all spread out to music all compact. Love it!

Michelle, Great job on disc 18 this morning. Sounds like you are improving. Good for you!

Cindy, Great job this weekend on lots of chores and Warrior with the TurboBarre workouts. Give Lily a hug for me because I know what it's like being a middle child so does Joey. It ain't easy. She'll be fine. She needs to toughen herself up a little is all.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Cardio supersets this morning. Made it through the Non-sporting dog group of Westminster last night when the Standard Poodle won the group. Then fell asleep. Sporting dogs are first up tonight at 8 pm EST!

Cindy: I'm a middle child. I don't know if I ever really suffered from middle child syndrome. My dear friend Janet always said I was not the typical middle child. Lilly not only is the middle child, but she is sandwiched between two boys. I don't know if that makes a difference, but I'm trying to pull for her, here. Interesting that Janie is a middle child too. Turbobarre is a great workout. It is still kind of bitter cold out your way, isn't it?

Kathy: looks like you and I are in for a little snow this week. Not sure how much, but I just washed my snowpants, so I'm ready for the flakes. I'm kind of hoping they go out to sea, though.

Janie: Basic step is a good, basic step workout. How are your fingers doing? Between piano and guitar, your fingers ought to be losing weight--LOL!

Busy on the work front, but that is life as normal for me. Hope everyone is staying healthy and getting their licks in.
Michelle

Did 10-10-10 without the triceps. Love this one.

Michelle, Hmmmmm, haven't noticed any weight loss in fingers. LOL! Great job on Cardio Supersets. Glad you are enjoying the dog show. We are watching some of it tonight. Dogs I've never heard of! Some I've never heard of.

Take care,

Janie

Long day but managed to tag Cardio Fusion step only premix which was quiet fun actually. Yesterday I did some great Pilates in between clients on the reformer and cadillac. Digestible pieces that added up to feeling really good in my body and connected to my core and aligned in new ways.

Janie I have short stubby fingers, they are not my best feature and had trouble with the piano as a kid because I just couldn't find the reach I needed for some note combinations. My piano teachers son had a terrible crush on me for years and she had two beautiful Goldens' with the most horrific smelling gas and that pretty much sums up my piano lessons.

Michelle love that workout! So does that make Renee younger or older than you?

Cindy: that is troubling about your sweet daughter. Are your other two children boys? Has anything happened to her to cause her to act out in anyway that you know? As a mom I can imagine how stressful that would be on me. Sounds like you are doing all that you can do. My daughters just turned 13 and I am just witnessing the first glimpse of 'attitude' and wondering where my sweet girls are??? Its so difficult to consciously parent when you are being pushed to your edge. Up to recently my girls never ever back talked or gave any attitude. I could just look at them and they would behave instantly....but sadly no more... my mom got me a book called Brainstorm: the power and purpose of the teenage brain which is helping me understand what is going on better so I don't react in ways to make it worse, but is hard to keep in mind in the moment. hang in there she will turn around! And keep exercising to relive the stress, and to model taking a healthy recourse to stress in your life for your whole family.

Kathy yes the reformer is truly an amazing piece of equipment, and it does feel amazing. Honestly I have not been doing much of my own Pilates practice, surpassingly common among teachers (maybe we feel like we have done it by guiding others through it or it seems to much like work so when we are off we want to do anything and everything but pilates)_ However I have been doing 4 hours of self study a week and it has totally been amazing and reinvigorated me in why I love the work so much! And as strong as I am it exposes every single weakness and postural habit that I use to perform other exercises incorrectly or inefficiently! There are definitely advance exercise that I can not do or do not do well because it is so challenging!

Last night was a pretty good workout. Started off w/KCM's stepboxing workout #2 + Burn Sets Biceps + Core #2. Its been quite a while since I've done Core #2. Couldn't make all the reps for the side planks. Did 10 reps instead of 12. I used to be so good at this one. I'll do this one more often to get back to where I was.

Tonight will be X10 low impact + Burn Sets triceps. If I have time, I'll also do shoulders but only w/my good arm.

Laura: Can't say I remember Cardio Fusion step premix. I'll have to check that one out. The reformer I know of & worked on but what in the world is a cadillac? Also don't understand about digestible pieces. 4 hours of self study is quite a bit of studying. I can only imagine the challenging exercises on the reformer. I just loved it & I can definitely see myself taking classes when I retire. I can understand a teacher not wanting to do Pilates on your time off.

Janie Sis: I was LMAO over Michelle's comment on losing weight in your fingers!!! What a hoot! You did good w/10-10-10. I too love that one. Happy strumming!

Michelle: I too like Cardio Supersets. What a hoot your comment was to Janie. I saw on the news that the Wire Hair Fox Terrier won. My DH used to have a minature one called Foxy Lady. So cute! Did you say we're in for a little snow? Manhattan is expected to get up to a foot!!! At least out on LI we're less 3-6. I'm not afraid about going into work but coming home I'm afraid. The LIRR shuts down once the snow reaches 10". We'll just have to see when we wake up tomorrow morning.

Waves to Cindy & Renee!
Kathy

Monday night I zonked out on the couch at 8:15 so I didn't exercise, guess my body needed sleep instead. Last night I did Decelerator and it was a mix of hard and easier moves, overall I enjoyed it. Tonight is MMX and I hope to get a double workout day in soon, I was going to try this morning but Brodie was sleeping on the couch since he has a fever. If it's not one it another :)

Thanks for the comments everyone with Lily, I know she just needs extra attention and I'm still learning how she needs it and views her lot in life. She's full of more attitude than Brodie and she doesn't back down easy so that just adds to it all. The past couple days she's done great at school so hopefully she's turning things around. Even Day Care was shocked she was being so naughty so it's been just a school thing. Fingers crossed her good attitude continues!

Janie - Life has a way of getting ahead of us at times, glad you're finding time for your music.

Michelle - We're hitting low 40's so now it's too warm again for this time of year :) Makes it feel like spring after last week.

Laura - I'm so scared of the teenage years because she's already full of spunk - maybe she'll get it all out of her system now ;) That book sounds great, I think sometimes we just need a reminder of what's going on with them so we don't take it personal (hard for me at times) and can respond better on our part.

Kathy - You'll be killing those planks again soon. I hate the feeling of discouragement I get when I'm unable to do something I used to but it's a good goal to work to and that's how I need to view it.

Cindy

Today was a rest day, but a full day of work. Made it home just as it started to snow.

Cindy: I'm sure your sweet girl will resurface. Sorry to hear that Brodie is feeling under the weather. Sometimes sleep is just what the body needs. Hope you zapped MMX.

Kathy: those XTRAIN core workouts are tough. Down here, depending on which "forecast" I read, we can expect anywhere from 4 to 10 inches where I live. I guess they figure if they provide a wide enough range on the amount of snow, they can't be wrong. I'll be nestled in my home office working, don't have to deal with even thinking about driving in to work. Hope your commute is not awful.

Laura: love the CF step premix. One of my favorite Cathe step premix workouts. I wish you the best with your twins and the teenage years. I sure wouldn't want to be a teenager again. I've never heard of the reformer. I'm going to have to google that.

Janie: Westminster does have quite a variety of dog breeds. As you know, I'm more of a big dog person but I like some of the terrier breeds--particularly the Norfolk terrier. Great job on 10-10-10!

Michelle

Hey everyone!

I am on to the Pure Strength Series now. Today was Back, Bi's and Abs. That was a long series of crunches. It kinda got tedious after awhile. So many more ways to work that core. I hadn't done the BBA yet so that was good. I have done the legs on Pure Strength Series. It is one of my favorite leg workouts!

Michelle how did you fare in the storm? Sounds like you guys got hammered! The reformer is a piece of pilates equipment. Your Sis probably did some of her rehab on it for her knee.

Cindy I have no idea what any of your P90X3 workouts mean! LOL:eek: Are they all a mixture of plyo and weights? Are you getting results? I don't seem to be making any progress on the scale and I am getting discouraged!! And now it's chocolate everywhere I turn for Valentines day!!

Took a rest day today and I'm almost finished with my zentangle/doodle hummingbird. I'll take a photo and post it tomorrow. No guitar or piano today, had to finish what I started. Then will get ready to travel over the mountains for my Dad's 90th birthday. Will leave Sat. and come home on Sunday.

Laura, Sounds like enjoyable workouts. Great job on yesterddays Pilates on the reformer and cadillac, and on today's Cardio Fusion Step only premix. Your experience with piano lessons sounds disappointing.

Kathy Sis, Great job on KCM's stepboxing #2 and Burn Sets Biceps and Core 2. I like the idea to keep up with your standards in exercise. Good for you.

Cindy, Good job on the rest day. And for doing Decelerator. Will find more time with my music after my dad's birthday party.

Michelle, Hope you enjoyed your rest day today.
Glad you made it home from a hards days work before the snow.

Laura, Great job on making it to the Pure Strength Series, back, bi's and abs. WooHoo!

Take care everyone,

Janie

Body Max 2 in it's entirety! :eek::p;)

Janie can't wait to see your hummingbird doodle! Have a good trip to your pop's big Birthday! What's the weather been like up there?

Hi five to everyone else

Here is my hummingbird doodle. It's 28"X8". I think this took way to long to create. Thinking I'm losing my motivation. Have it on FB and can be seen much better. All those things behind the bird is music notes.

Hummingbird Chatter

It's so long I truly couldn't get a nice photo of it.

Laura, You did really well on Body Max 2 in it's entirety. Good for you! Right now is 46 degrees and sunny. Love days like today. Thinking about walking outside with Rolly for awhile.

Take care,

Janie

10 inches of snow. Two shovel maxes with a great deal of help from our neighbor (God bless him) who came with his snow blower and did our sidewalks and a good part of our driveway. Made my shovel maxes alot shorter. Did STS disc 19, chest, shoulders, and triceps. Arms are tired now. Should sleep good tonight.

Kathy: hoped you guys fared okay in this storm. It sure was a doozie down here in Virginia.

Janie: I like the hummingbird doodle. If you feel like you heart is not in the zentangle doodles, then take a break. You artistic energy is probably distracted by your piano and guitar. Happy Birthday ((((HUGS)))) and kisses to your dad.

Laura: great job on BM2. That one uses the ball for much of the weight work which always is a little more challenging for me. Okay now I'm going to google that reformer thingy that you mentioned.

Hi to Cindy and Sister.
Michelle

OMG! For years I've been waiting for Cathe to befriend me on FB. She did today! WooHoo!

Michelle, You have such a nice neighbor. Bless his heart. Great job on shovel max and STS disc 19, chest, shoulders and triceps. I know me and if I take a break from doodling it could be years before I get into it again. I need to find the motivation to continue in media. Been thinking if I can find a really good photo of Cathe, I could tangle her. She may not like it. LOL:D

Take care,

Janie

Shovel max again today after the snow plows came through and piled up huge mounds of snow in front of the driveway and mailbox. Everyone was out literally digging out. The good news is that it got up to 55 degrees today and quite a bit of the snow melted (except for the huge piles made by the snow plows). The roads in our neighborhood are clear and dry, so we will be heading to Federicksburg in about an hour or so for dinner. It's not just Valentine's day but also my DH's birthday. He said to me today: I can't believe I'm 68 years old. I responded: just think only 50 years ago you were 18, seems like yesterday, doesn't it. He just laughed. I'm telling you after all this snow shoveling my body is T-I-R-E-D. I just did low impact step today. It was all I could do to get that done.

Janie: wow, Cathe must be behind on her FB friend requests. Or maybe she does not go on FB much in recent years. I think she is on twitter too, but I don't do twitter. I stick to the things that matter the most to me which is checking in here daily and about once a week on FB. I do have pretty good neighbors. Many of us in the Circle have lived here for 20 or more years and for the most part, we have a fairly normal collection of folks. We all have our quirks but they are more endearing than not.

Kathy: hope you have weathered the storm and things are back to normal out in LI and in NYC today.

Happy Valentine's day to everyone.
Michelle

There are 3 snow storms coming to the mountain passes we have to travel in order to see my Dad and be with him on his 90th birthday. There is one today, a worse one tomorrow, and yet another bad one on Sunday. We are practical people and decided the risk traveling in the mountains is too risky. I'm so depressed about this because I truly wanted to share that experience with him. I think that's why I'm in a slump today.

Happy Valentine's Day To Everyone! Love you.
Joey and I will celebrate it tomorrow and go to our favorite place. Less crowds. LOL

Michelle, You are certainly getting your shovelmax's in. I feel sorry for people in their driveways while the snow plowers come by. Enjoy your dinner at Federicksburg. Wish your DH a Happy Birthday for me. 68 is a good age. Joey is 75. Yikes!

Take care,

Janie

Greetings and Salutations from snowy Central Virginia!

Snow storm hit Wednesday and have been "snowed" in ever since. I drive a Ford Mustang and they do not go in the snow, so I opt for life and safety. I don't go anywhere. The streets have been plowed and I think it would be okay 3 days later but I'm just not motivated to go anywhere. I have plenty of food for me and the cats.

I have just two weeks left of P90X! I can't wait to be done with it. It was an itch I had to scratch but I doubt I will ever do it again in its entirety. I like Plyometrics and Core Synergistics and may occasionally reach for them but doing the whole rotation is NOT gonna happen. I want to do STS! It's my favorite 90 day rotation and it's Cathe! I would like to do Les Mills Combat too. That is only a 60 day rotation. But I'm thinking its time to do Cathe. I did Jillian Michaels Body Revolution (90 days) and the P90X, and I'm really missing what I like best...CATHE! I have done a Cathe workout here and there, subbing her workout in for KenpoX. No more subbing. In two weeks I will evaluate where I am at and where I want to go.

I hope everybody had a wonderful Valentines Day. Mine was quiet with my favorite 5 felines. Nothing like unconditional love from a cat. I've been 12 years single, and I'm very content with that. I celebrate the love and don't begrudge those who have significant others. It's all good! All a matter of choice. I must say, I cannot stand single whiney babies this time of year. Everyone has the power to find love, shape their lives, and those who don't need to suck it up and move on. It's all about attitude and choices and strength! I hope I haven't offended anyway. Just my honest opinion.

Have a wonderful weekend! Stay strong!

Renee

STS disc 20, legs, yesterday and 37 minutes of Shiva Rea yoga--breathing, earth vinyasa, and core this morning. My body sure needed the yoga practice. I like this Shiva Rea daily vinyasa dvd. You can mix and match different segments to include selections of breathing meditations, 20 minutes vinyasas, and core. Very nice. My DH and I went to visit my cousin and his wife this afternoon. They are "babysitting" her sister's female Golden Retriever. She is a Delmarva Golden and I figured this was a good opportunity for a visit and to check out the pup. Very sweet dog--wonderful golden temperment. Just as pretty as she can be.

Janie: sorry to hear that the weather is not cooperating with your visit to see your dad. I know that you want to be there but better to be safe and visit him in one piece. Think what a funk he would be in if something happened to you while driving to visit him.

Sister: back to school for you tomorrow. Since ya'll are going 2 hours late maybe you can get your yoga practice done if the morning.

Hi to Cindy, Laura, and Kathy!

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I've been missing but it was all I could do to just get to work, come back home, etc. The snow just doesn't stop, one snow storm after another. On Thurs. the snow was so bad in the city I went home at noon. I was afraid that the railroad would shut down which it does. I can't remember ever seeing the city w/that much snow. I've been working out though. Took Thurs. & Fri. off but started w/Beachbody's new program 21 Day Fix.

Sat. it was Total Body Cardio Fix & on Sun. it was Upper Fix. Today is Lower Fix or a Barre workout. I thought the workouts were going to be easy but their not. Workouts are only 30 min. but BB packed quite a bit into that 30 min. Program comes with colored containers & the book explaining how much food to place into the containers according to the calories that were calculated for you. I hope to get my body back to where it once was. After doing this for only 2 days I definitely can see where all of my mistakes lied.

Michelle: I feel for you & your DH w/10 inches of snow. That was very nice of your neighbor to snow plow your property. We have the 2014 Nissan Rogue which has AWD. You need this type of vehicle w/all the snow that we get here. Your doing so well w/STS & your yoga. Glad to hear you & DH enjoyed your Valentine's Day.

Janie Sis: Beautiful picture of the humming bird & the musical notes. I'm sure you'll keep doodling & creating. Its a great way to pass the time. Sorry to hear that you couldn't make the trip to see your father. He would want you to be safe. Maybe this coming up weekend you & Joey can go & visit him?

Hi to Laura, Cindy & Renee!
