Getting Our Licks In!

Joey and I did TBS, abs and stretches. Found out how to cure/season cast iron pans. Finally! Yea! If interested here is a link. It really does work. I fried all kinds of eggs today. Yea!
Cast Iron Skillet - Season Skillet Myth - How to make non stick ...

I've been busy and made some more bread. Added flax seed, wheat germ and oat bran. Sad tonight, Joey and I had a big fight.:( Oh well, it happens.

Laura, Great job on skiing, congratulations for your graduation from you first year at the Star House, great job on yoga, STS STS M2W1 Legs, Core Max with the Med ball and Stretch Max with the fit ball, Pilates class, STS M2W1, chest, shoulders and tri's. Do try to be safe with the nasty weather and mountain. They don't go well together.

Michelle, Great job on Imax2 & first stretch fro TBS. Have a safe journey to NC.

Michelle, 70's. Wow, how lucky you are. Great job on S&G.

Take care ladies,

Janie

Hi! I was supposed to meet some friends at the mountain today, but it seemed there was on crisis after another for everyone, so I ended up there by myself about an hour later than planned, the snow was blowing sideways and it was cold, so I almost didn't go, but I figured I was up there ( the 'shelf road' up to the resort is a hair raiser) & that I may as well take one run and check it out. And I m so glad because once you were on the mountain the conditions were AWESOME. Just amazing snow and I was so in my 'flow'! I only got three runs in before I had to go, I had some time but not enough for a whole other run, which takes about0 minutes or more. So not a ton of 'exercise' but such a great day of skiing!

Michelle: got to love the new seres for traveling, huh? I think I will take them to Atlanta. Did you read Cathe's blog about creating the series? It mentioned how she new he DOMS would be pretty intense especially in the hams & glutes so that's why she added to yoga DVD's..... ;-)

Janie: checked out your link on the cast Ron's and that was pretty much how I was taught although I don't wash with soap every time most the time I put about a half inch of water in the pan and boil it for about 5 minutes than wipe it out heat back up and spray it down with olive oil.

Oh and Janie I am sorry to hear about your fight with Joey, Bo and I are having a tough go around this year so I can understand how bad a bad fight can feel. We are doing our best to work it out but right now it does feel like work! :-(. Oh well this too shall pass...

I'm just so busy with school/holiday stuff. When I'm not consumed with school, I'm exercising and then relaxing (or sleeping) but I find myself on the go, go, go constantly.
One week left of school before 2 glorious weeks off. My chorus concert was last week and it went great! My 2nd grade Christmas musical is Monday and they are ready. We are putting on "A Bear-y Merry Holiday" which involves all kinds of bears. The kids are cute.
Getting my tree today after school. Lights and decorating this evening and tomorrow. But I will make time for Cathe.

Sorry to hear about Janie and Laura's domestic troubles. Makes me glad I'm single with 5 cats! Love my kitty's! At the end of my marriage, I was really wondering "why". Well, it's definately for some people and definately NOT for others. Glad I was able to figure out it wasn't for me. I'm a happier person now that is for sure.

OKay, thats all for now. Take care!

~Renee

I am back home and I am so happy to be here. We had a good trip to NC but it is always great to be back home with my two boys. Ripken stuck to me like glue last night after I got home. We went for a super long walk this morning--it was brisk, cold, and clear--but the pup wanted to walk and I have to admit I missed our walks this week too.

It's Friday which means telecommuting for me. Got some work done this morning then took a break to exercise (PUB today) and have lunch with my DH. Ripken is getting a good nap in the front hallway.

Laura: sorry to hear that you and Bo are having some disagreements. But that is bound to happen--two people can't always agree. I hope you all persevere in working out your differences. We have reached the time of year where you are loving life on the ski slopes and I am hoping that all the white stuff stays out west in the mountains.

Sister: good to have you check in. Have fun getting your tree later today. Are you borrowing dad's truck or is he going with you? I have a few more decorations to put up and then I need to put the boxes away and start wrapping presents. I might even do Christmas cards this year--I have the boxes of cards out, sitting on the floor. I need to send one to Chelsea with her London Holiday money so what's a few more?

Hope everyone has a pleasant and enjoyable Friday.

Did Cardio Supersets! OMG I needed something to use my muscles and cardio today. OMG! There are no other words except my heart was pounding and I was very sweaty. Joey went to the Beach House on Thursday to fix things I couldn't help with. He will be home today. Our fights only last 2 days. We'll be OK. We both will go to the Beach House on Monday. I may (don't know for sure) stay until the following weekend to continue painting the rooms crochet, read and walk the beach. I'll bring the lap top with me in hopes that someone around will have WIFI.

Laura, Been skiing a couple of times in my life, and I have to tell ya, it is fantastic! So glad you didn't give up and had a wonderful time skiing on the mountain. Isn't skiing exercise? Was and only will be a beginner, but it was tough, and oh, so much fun.:D Cast Iron: You are so ahead of me. It took me years to learn this. Now that I know, will use them all the time. Fights aren't fun for sure. Yep, marriage is hard work at times. (((((hugs))))). I'm confident you guys will get it together. LOVE always helps.

Renee, My daughter is single too, and very very happy. She has a son, a dog and a cat, that keeps her from being lonely and work and other stuff. She's a better person that way. The chorus concert sounds like it was wonderful. Can't wait to hear about 2nd grade Christmas musical (A Bear-y Merry Holiday, on Monday. Enjoy decorating.

Michelle, Yea! Glad you made it back safely. Great job on walking with Ripken. Also great job on PUB today. Enjoy your day with hubby.

Talk later,

Janie

Pyramid Lower Body today. Ripken decided to join in the fun when I was doing glute presses on the stability ball. I was laying on the floor with one heal on the ball and the other leg straight up in the air, trying to do my glute presses and Ripken decides to walk under my legs between my butt and the ball. Kind of made it hard to do the glute presses--of course Ripken thought he was so cute. Just looked at me with his big Golden Retriever smile. I just cracked up laughing. The pup makes exercising with Cathe a little more challenging sometimes and a little more fun. Goofy dog.

DH and I went up the road for a Christmas party with my coworkers. Nice, low key event. Traffic was heavy going up the road but good coming home. Had a nice time.

Janie: cardio supersets is a fun workout. Sounds like you are making your way through all the new workouts. Which ones haven't you done yet? Or have you done them all?

~michelle

Lazy day today. Was really nice to catch up on chores, and messing around with the computer. Also computer games. ;)

Michelle, I haven't did Cardio Supersets, Athletic Training, Total Body Tri-Sets & Cycle Max. I'll get there though. Great job on PLB Ripken knows his mommy. He sounds so adorable!

Janie

Wednesday I tried out a new dance class with a friend in Boulder. It was fun and made me move in ways I don't normally do. The teacher was clearly well trained in dance and didn't break down the moves but I enjoyed the challenge of coordination! That night I taught TT.

Thursday: I got a couple runs in before having to go. Really happy with where I am starting off with my turns this year

Friday: clients, a long lunch with a friend, bit no exercise for me

Saturday: Step Moves(love it!!)& thought I would finish up Meso Cycle 2W1 Back & Biceps

Sunday (today) doubt I can get any exercise in ....brought Eliza down for the Nutcracker Tea at the Hotel Boulderado, where she and other cast members dress up in their costumes and mingle with the guest doing autographs and photos! So proud of her, that is an important thing to learn early, how to mingle with a crowd of strangers!! Than going to a friends to make Christmas cookies

So feeling like Renee with being super busy, and plugging in exercise when I can. I have to be ok with the fact that this time a year I won't get to do all the exercise I want to without beating myself up about it. Some is better than none and things will slow down soon. Renee your Beary Merry Christmas sounds adorable!

Janey YES skiing is definitely exercise! It's hard work, but I count it more as a sport, than an exercise session. It burns a million calories too which is a bonus! But mostly I do it because I love it!!!

Michelle: things seem relatively calm in your corner of the world! That must be nice! Enjoy it....and that rascal of a pup sure most love his mom!

Hi everyone. Kind of a low key day. Walked the pup, did yogamax today, wathced football, did a little Christmas shopping. Is it just me or is it hard to find Christmas wrapping paper this year? Our Michaels store was completely out; Target had weird colors; the Dollar Store had mostly cartoon wrap; finally found wrapping paper 75 percent off in Kohls.

It is a busy time of year. I don't have alot of Christmas gifts left to get--mostly gift cards and a few other items that require that I make a trip down to Fredericksburg next Saturday. In the meantime, I hope everyone gets to relax and enjoy this special time of year. Try to make time for yourself and exercise whether indoors or out.

~michelle

Sorry for not posting yesterday. Been busy packing my stuff for the beach house.

Joey and I are getting ready for our exercises and then off I go. I don't have any connections to the internet so will be in touch next week when I get home.

I'm going to miss you and my routines in the mornings.

Janie

Yes very busy time of year and I have no idea what I was thinking when I signed Eliza up for this Dsylexia training this last week of school and right before we leave town and during such an already hectic time!:p

Monday I taught my two classes, Pilates & Ski Conditioning
Tuesday a beginner Pilates class and then did STS Meso Cycle 3 week 1 Chest & Back. I love Meso Cycle 3 because I lve lifting heavy but really high rep low weights are the best for my body type....
Today my Total Tone class

So thank goodness for my classes or otherwise I doubt I would be working out otherwise!!

Happy Holidays to everyone stay safe & warm!

One more day of school! Well, that is after today. The second grade play went G-R-E-A-T! Those little kids were so cute as bears, and they had a blast, as did the audience. I am just so glad that things are finally winding down. I love what I do, but I also love the breaks in between.

I am going to be starting STS tomorrow! Mesocycle one here I come. The weight lifting shouldn't be so bad but the cardio has me a bit concerned. I am getting stronger every day, and my endurance is getting better too. But this will definately bump things up a bit. And I've got to try!! The only way to get back to where I was is to do the things that got me there in the first place. The rotation(s) I have for meso one is one that Cathe posted prior to shock cardio coming out AND the one with shock cardio. So I will be intermixing it. I am not going to try any HiiT workouts, but will tackle the Imax's and other advanced cardio CD's like KPC, Drill Max, and the like.

My cats and I have a competition of who can break the most ornaments. So far I'm winning with 4 and they have broken 2. Last year the grand total was 5 for the cats and 0 for me. And I have only had my tree up since Saturday, so we have surpassed last years count already. Gosh, I hope thats it too!

Stay strong, exercise but find time to relax and enjoy this holiday season.

~Renee~

Wow--I have not posted since Sunday. Guess I've been a little busy. Week 2 of the December rotation: Monday was Afterburn, Tuesday was IMAX3, Wednesday was Kickmax, and today was Total Body Trisets Upper body. It's amazing how fast this week has gone by.

Janie: hope ya'll have a productive visit to the beach house. Hope you have good weather too. It was 66 degrees here today--can you believe it? Tomorrow is supposed to be more seasonal. Dang.

Laura: you are like an over-achieving mom--and I mean that in a good way. You were thinking about helping Eliza and obviously zoned out on the timing. I knw that you will make it through the week. It will just go a little faster with the extra activity in there. Just be sure to take care of yourself.

And that goes for everyone. Get plenty of rest and exercise while enjoying the season.
~michelle

Wow-what happened to me? I have checked in for the past 2 days--Friday was Total Body Trisets lower body. That sure is a fun workout but I think I have to start increasing my weight amounts on that workout the next time around. Yesterday, I spent a good part of the day Christmas shopping, no exercise. Something had to give and it was exercise, but I did do alot of walking. Today, back to the rotation: yogarelax. I really like the yoga practices on the new Low Impact Series. They are a nice addition to Cathe's repetoire of workouts. They are also a nice break on this December rotation.

Hope everyone is hanging in there as we head into this last week before Christmas.

Back home a couple of days earlier. There was something wrong with the thermostat and no hot water. Was time to get back home. Joey is leaving tomorrow to fix those things and some others.

Glad to get back home, it was truly a working experience. Finished painting my room but still need to do the windows inside. It's double paned.

I had taken some beautiful photos of the beach and the marina for you all to see, just to find out this morning that the card wasn't in the camera. I forgot to put it back in when I was looking at the recent photos I had before. DARN! I'll try again next time. DARN!

We will be going to one of my daughters house for Christmas Italian dinner. What will all of you be doing then?

Good to be back and get in the normal morning routine that I missed.

Laura, So sorry you are in a hectic situation. Hope things can calm down little for you, if not then after Christmas season for sure. Great job on your week of exercises. I bet you can see the results of all your work/exercise on your body. Good for you!

Renee, So glad to hear the play went great. How could it not though, with you in charge?;) STS is a good choice. I'm sure it will certainly be challenging, but I know you can do it. Breaking ornaments is now a tradition for your family. LOL:D You've come along way and progressed through your injuries. You are awesome and inspire me to do better.

Michelle, Your week of exercises are also amazing! Keep up the good work. Surprisingly, my week went fast as well. I just love this thread. Thank you so much for all the encouragement you offer me.

Later,

Janie

Today was a shopping day for me and bought 2nd hand warm clothes for the Beach House this Winter. Not exchanging gifts this year, so I'm kinda glad for that. I bought sweaters, wind breaker, lounging pants and sweatshirts. That should do it for this year and most of next. Yikes, I've gained weight! Have to work really hard after the Holidays to get rid of it. Even walking on the beach for hours at a time, did nothing. I'll have to watch what I eat more. Very discouraging.:( Oh, Joey and I (before he left for the beach house) did TBS, abs and stretching.

Will talk again tomorrow, have a good night.

Hi everyone. I think once again that I have not checked in for a couple of days. Yesterday I did CardioSupersets from the new Low Impact Series--I just love the cardio moves using the slide and glide discs. Those are some of my favorites in that workout. Today was the original IMAX. I have not done the original IMAX in a while and I was thinking it was going to be easier than IMAX2 and IMAX3--LOL! What was I thinking? Not easier that is for sure--the only thing easier is that there is more recovery time between each interval.

We had our holiday party today at work. My company has the Hilton Hotel which is in our office park complex cater a holiday brunch. The food was really good. The Orff ensemble from the John Adams Elementary school performed. My company has a tutoring program with the elementary school and does other activities to support the kids, like our back to school supply drive,. Some of my more talented coworkers put on a talent show and we had door prizes and a raffle. Good stuff too: several Kindle Fires, IPAD2s, airplane tickets for 2 to anywhere in the continental US, a bose sound dock, a 43 inch HD flat screen tv, and a WII fit. I'm probably missing some of the door prizes but that is a good representation. I did not win anything but some of my immediate coworkers did.

This is my last day coming up the road. Tomorrow and Thursday, I am at Quantico and working at home. Then taking some time off. Looking forward to it.

Janie: You and Joey are really making headway on your new place. Love your story about taking pictures and realizing you did not have the memory card in your camera. Sounds like something I would do. New clothes are fun whether first or second hand. I love when I can get a deal on either on ebay. Did you decorate your house inside for Christmas this year?

Hopefully, we will hear from Shadowpup over the holiday season.
~michelle

Hmm I wrote a long post yesterday but it isn't here! Well I'm in Atlanta now with my DD's and my DH comes out on Friday. After being so busy I now find myself with nothing to do....it's weird...

Yesterday I did the Bar Workout for the first time. I wasn't a huge fan of the Upper Body Workout but I did enjoy the Lower body work a lot! It was tough though. I also really liked the core section, which had some new moves that were challenging!

Today I felt a little run down so took a day off. Although yoga relax might be good later this evening.

Michelle: wow those are some great prizes! How fun it would be to win one of them. Sounds like a great party. It's been so long since I did an IMAX. I tend to avoid them!

Janey: soon your house will be all done and ready to enjoy!!! Hang in there! :)

I did one of the Brazil Butt DVD's called Cardio Axe. Man do I like to dance! That was a fun workout.

Michelle, We don't decorate for Christmas any longer. We haven't for years, just because it's hard on us to unpack decorate and pack everything back. There is only us two here anyway and no one else will be here for Christmas. We do have a couple of things out all year long and be considered decorations. We have a huge lit star in our back yard amongst the trees and a snowman inside on a high shelf and obscure. Hope you have a great couple of days in Quantico and some time off afterwords. Great job on Cardio Supersets yesterday and today's IMAX 1. Oh Cathe knows her stuff doesn't she? IMAX 1 is amazing just like the others. Looks like you had such a fun time (with expensive presents) at your Office Christmas Party. Hope your co-workers enjoy their gifts.

Laura, You are right, I need a little more patience working at the beach house. It's getting there, but oh so slowly. Sorry you lost your long post. Bummer I know. Great job on the Bar Workout.

Janie
